Man Who Spent His Entire Life Savings on ‘Hawk Tuah’ Coin Says He Feels Betrayed
Tumblr media
NORMAN, OKLAHOMA - Feeling a deep sense of betrayal by the people he thought he could trust, local man Mark Cardith is reportedly out of all of his life savings after he allegedly spent it all on the “Hawk Tuah” coin, a cryptocurrency named after the viral meme sensation Hailey Welch, better known as the “Hawk Tuah Girl.”
When Welch came out with her own digital currency, Cardith thought that he could trust her. “Well, the Hawk Tuah Girl is all over the internet, so I thought I could take her word for it,” Cardith confessed to reporters. “She said that the Hawk Tuah coin was going to be the future of digital currency, and I believed her. I poured my heart into this coin, only for it to be a waste.”
Indeed, what was originally hyped as the future of online currency ended in catastrophic failure, as the coin plummeted by 99.9% overnight, dropping from a value of $8.23 to $0.000005, leaving key investors like Cardith out to dry.
“I just don’t understand where it all went wrong,” Cardith lamented. “They were saying how the value was going to rise as more people started investing, only for it to drop. It’s like they had no clue what they were doing. I feel deceived.”
Cardith, who was once financially stable, had no choice but to sell his home as a result of his losses. He now lives in his car, meanwhile, Welch quietly deleted all of her posts related to the Hawk Tuah coin on social media and seems to be quietly benefiting from people like Cardith’s investments.
Welch has denied any wrongdoing on her part, claiming that she was only the spokesperson and promoter of the coin and wasn’t super familiar with crypto in general. But to people like Mark, this explanation feels like a slap in the face.
“I was sold a false promise by the Hawk Tuah Girl,” Mark said. “I was sold a promise of glitz, glamor, and all the Hawk Tuah on that ‘thang’ that a man could ask for, only for it all to completely crumble my life.”
Investors in Hawk Tuah coin, including Mark himself, are now filing a lawsuit against Welch and her team, citing severe financial losses. However, it’s unknown if this suit will actually go anywhere.

I've been keeping this to myself because I refused to give it attention, but the whole hawk tuah meme really fascinates me. As a chronically online meme fanatic, this meme feels like an industry plant of some sort. It's no secret people are often using it in a rather ironic fashion, but even then it still doesn't feel organic. It's no secret there's management and a company behind the meme now, but the whole thing feels like a social experiment from a branding agency, as if she was "manufactured" long before the interview ever happened.
They're most certainly skilled with the "bad publicity is still publicity" marketing, especially in the "millennial curated boomer meme page" circles on Facebook LMAO
Although ngl I feel like many other people would try pursuing similar paths when going viral, but still something feels so off about that meme.
I'm probably just being crazy, a conspiracy theorist, in denial that we've actually managed to get a new meme relevant for longer than 2 weeks, or maybe I just have to accept that I'm getting old and no longer know what's cool and trending on the internet, I don't use TikTok so I'm already missing out on anything on that end, not that I have issues with that XD
Curious how long she will stay relevant, wonder if she's gonna make the meme of the decade by 2029, curious if any of us are still around to determine the meme of the decade.
(Anybody remember the meme of the decade back in the 2010s? It showed me people's declining memories and attention span where Baby Yoda and the "girl fighting with cat eating salad" were the biggest nominees but mainly because they were the most recent memes and freshest in everyone's memory, early 2010s had some neat memes too don't forget lol)

What's white privilege?
Being a cishet blonde woman from Tennessee who did a joke about spitting on a dick one time, and now you're the greatest hero who ever lived.
This article isn't sarcastic, by the way.
And I respect the hustle of the sad fuck that got stuck covering this "story." They really try to justify this as a thing, and then on top of that, somehow a good thing, with a full media analysis of the performance style of and regional context behind that time this lady talked about spitting on a dick.
I'm not joking. Read the "article." It's amazing.
However, the claim that she is somehow "the Gen Z Dolly Parton" because she talked about spitting on a dick one time betrays a complete misunderstanding of what all of those words mean. I'd say it's outright offensive, if I wasn't so gleefully fascinated by all of this.
I don't blame this woman for getting sucked into this. But, man, the bar for rewarding white mediocrity has descended to fascinatingly low depths with this. Like, if Taylor Swift and Trump succeeding pisses you off, this is going to make you so mad you'll spit on a dick.
