Man Who Spent His Entire Life Savings on ‘Hawk Tuah’ Coin Says He Feels Betrayed
Tumblr media
NORMAN, OKLAHOMA - Feeling a deep sense of betrayal by the people he thought he could trust, local man Mark Cardith is reportedly out of all of his life savings after he allegedly spent it all on the “Hawk Tuah” coin, a cryptocurrency named after the viral meme sensation Hailey Welch, better known as the “Hawk Tuah Girl.”
When Welch came out with her own digital currency, Cardith thought that he could trust her. “Well, the Hawk Tuah Girl is all over the internet, so I thought I could take her word for it,” Cardith confessed to reporters. “She said that the Hawk Tuah coin was going to be the future of digital currency, and I believed her. I poured my heart into this coin, only for it to be a waste.”
Indeed, what was originally hyped as the future of online currency ended in catastrophic failure, as the coin plummeted by 99.9% overnight, dropping from a value of $8.23 to $0.000005, leaving key investors like Cardith out to dry.
“I just don’t understand where it all went wrong,” Cardith lamented. “They were saying how the value was going to rise as more people started investing, only for it to drop. It’s like they had no clue what they were doing. I feel deceived.”
Cardith, who was once financially stable, had no choice but to sell his home as a result of his losses. He now lives in his car, meanwhile, Welch quietly deleted all of her posts related to the Hawk Tuah coin on social media and seems to be quietly benefiting from people like Cardith’s investments.
Welch has denied any wrongdoing on her part, claiming that she was only the spokesperson and promoter of the coin and wasn’t super familiar with crypto in general. But to people like Mark, this explanation feels like a slap in the face.
“I was sold a false promise by the Hawk Tuah Girl,” Mark said. “I was sold a promise of glitz, glamor, and all the Hawk Tuah on that ‘thang’ that a man could ask for, only for it all to completely crumble my life.”
Investors in Hawk Tuah coin, including Mark himself, are now filing a lawsuit against Welch and her team, citing severe financial losses. However, it’s unknown if this suit will actually go anywhere.

Hawk Tuah Girl Haliey Welch” Crypto Scam
Hawk Tuah and the Crypto Catastrophe: How Haliey Welch Became the Face of Financial Folly In the annals of history, some names stand tall—Alexander the Great, Cleopatra, Albert Einstein. "The commodification of everything is exhausting. Living within the smothering confines of late-stage capitalism is a total nightmare with no escape in sight. It’s understandable why you’d want to cash in on something as peurile and absurd as a sex joke, but then everything becomes about the money. Rising out one jokes means you will inevitably have to start talking about literally anything else, from politics to activism to whatever the hot take of the day is. And it’s all for sale, much in the same way our lives are. Every home is a potential AirBnb, every car a possible Uber, and every Tik Tok clip your route to millions. If you’re lucky, have a decent head on your shoulders and good people around you, you can get through it without falling into absolute mania. But the chances are you’ll most likely end up surrounded by creeps like the Paul brothers who see a quick buck to be made and string you along for the ride. Maybe you’ll get an agent or publicist but usually you’ll be the one trying to figure out the scam from the safe call, and when you’re young, dumb, and full of spit, why wouldn’t you pick the thing everyone says will make you more money? This is not to strip Welch away from the responsibility she bears for being part of a supposed scam, but it is a reminder that the addictive trauma of celebrity corrupts at a record pace."

Finally. The intersection of ancient artifacts and associated history and modern social media influencer clown discourse. I love it! I AM interested in this ancient form of money AND the answer as to who tf values and buys these peoples cryptoscams!
I Don't Get It
I really don't get it. Hawk Tuah Girl, Boogie 2988, Logan Paul, it seems like anyone can just create a cryptocurrency. Who are the people buying this shit and getting scammed by it? All fiat currency only has value because people place value on it. Whether paper or electronic money has no real practical purpose beyond facilitating trade. Fiat currency created by governments only have value because that government decrees it has value and the people have faith in the stability of that government. If a government collapses it's currency becomes worthless.
So who TF are the people who are assigning value to an electronic currency because Boogie2988 created it? Who sees that a new currency is hitting the market backed by the full faith and credit of Hawk Tuah Girl and thinks, "yeah, that seems like a reasonable means to facilitate the exchange of goods and services in an economy."?
A bundle of Kissi pennies, which were iron rods used as money for hundreds of years in West Africa. They had value because you can make important stuff out of iron unlike Hawk Tuah money.

In other news, the ‘Hawk Tuah’ lassie launched a cryptocurrency meme coin called $HAWK and it crashed from $500M to $60M in twenty minutes in what appears to be a very obvious rug pull scam.
People who have lost their life savings want to see her thrown in jail.
“I am a huge fan of Hawk Tuah but you took my life savings.” - Things said in bizarro world.

Well, Jake Paul, another internet celeb who has been living out in the fringes of online gutter culture for over a decade now ... signed [Hawk Tuah girl Haliey] Welch to his media company, Betr Media, and is helping her launch a podcast called Talk Tuah. Which is, honestly, excellent branding. But I’m less clear on why anyone would listen to it. Welch has also spent the summer at various cryptocurrency events. Another vector for the “is this really a thing?” phenomenon. This week she’s in South Korea at a conference called Korea Blockchain Week. And, yes, there’s a $HawkTuah crypto coin. There’s apparently a bull run on it right now. But, once again, is there?
The fringes of online gutter culture
This is so gross, I need to take a Silkwood shower.

Billion dollar squirrel: Trump effect fuels crypto’s ‘memecoin’ boom
Cryptocurrencies representing a euthanised grey squirrel, a Thai pygmy hippopotamus and a cartoon dog have exploded in value since last month’s US presidential election, as Donald Trump’s victory triggers a surge in speculation in so-called memecoins. The market for tokens representing online viral moments has expanded rapidly since early November as traders bet that Trump’s administration will usher in more crypto-friendly attitudes and regulation in Washington. “They have no value, they never will have value,” Charles Hoskinson, co-founder of the Cardano blockchain, said about memecoins recently. “There’s no utility behind them, nobody wants them — when they lose their lustre they go to zero.” The total market value of CHILLGUY has reached $466mn since it was created two weeks ago. It received a boost when MrBeast, the world’s most popular YouTuber, wrote on X last week that it was the “biggest meme of our lifetimes”. The memecoin frenzy has inspired others to get involved. Haliey Welch, who went viral this year as Hawk Tuah Girl, said last week she would soon launch a token “to unite her entire community”. The market size of PNUT has hit $1.2bn, while PEPE, referencing a comic frog character, has a market cap of $8.2bn — more than that of British supermarket chain Sainsbury’s. BONK, a cartoon dog made after the collapse of exchange FTX in an effort to cheer up traders using the Solana blockchain, has a market cap of $3bn. “Most of these fail and have no liquidity,” said Adam Morgan McCarthy, research analyst at Kaiko. But “these things are like Lazarus if a community gets behind them in force”. [...] “It’s got a little bit silly and it feels . . . like what happened towards the end of the NFT market,” said Geoff Kendrick, global head of digital assets research at Standard Chartered. “At some point, something will happen which will unleash the house of cards and it’ll collapse.”
