Edward Gallagher, 40, started Salty Frog Gear, which he describes as a “coastal lifestyle brand with an edge.” The brand, launched with Nine Line and Black Rifle Coffee Company, includes items with the print “stay salty” and sweatshirts with pockets that can hold a bottled beverage.

“As someone who served with Eddie and other members of SEAL team 7 downrange, I know the truth about the character of a man unjustly targeted by a broken investigation and corrupt prosecution,” the company’s founder, Tyler Merritt, said in a statement to the Times. “Nike has their First Amendment right to make individuals such as Colin Kaepernick their brand ambassadors. We have the right to make patriots like Chief Gallagher one of ours.”

Gallagher has also opened an online shop to make fun of the Navy and the SEALs who testified against him, calling them “mean girls,” according to the Times. The Times last week reviewed and reported on footage of those who turned in the platoon leader in which they call him “freaking evil,” “toxic” and a “psychopath."

So, this is a war criminal bad enough that SEALs were willing to testify against him, in no small part due to how his actions directly endangered them alongside him. He had a reputation as a hard-charging door-kicker even before being sent downrange, and as the Times reported, some of the members of the SEAL teams he was with were excited by this, were looking forward to serving with someone who would get them into combat more and more. 

However, Gallagher became known for deliberately botching operations in order to get into gunfights, directing machine gun fire at villages out of boredom more than anything, for shooting a pregnant woman intentionally, for slitting the throat of a prisoner before posing with the body, that pose being the one crime he was committed of.

This exposes two vital things about the way that “operator culture” spreads in America and throughout the military: Gallagher’s reputation for enjoying combat meshes very nicely with the sentiment expressed by Black Rifle Coffee Company’s founder, whose memoir proclaims that it is for those who want to “know they’re okay for being okay”, those soldiers who not only are not afflicted with PTSD, but in fact supporting a notion that this should be the new expectation, that soldiers in these forever wars should take a sense of purpose and pride from killing in the name of empire.

Gallagher being called these things, toxic and psychopathic and evil, exposes not only how depraved his own actions were, but how necessary exceptions like Gallagher are to creating the culture of American militancy. The SEALs testifying against him have numbed themselves to the acts they commit, by necessity separate their ideation of themselves from the acts they commit. It involves denying just what operators like SEALs do for a living, ignoring that actions similar to Gallagher’s are not just things they do, but the express purpose of their unit’s existence. As special operations forces are more and more the language in which American empire speaks, as the shift toward understanding most infantry as merely an occupying army with combat delegated to a select few selected and fetishized, in competition with similar units from the other branches of the military. 

Their representation in media like the newer editions of the Call of Duty franchise (where characters are either part of units-within-units, elites-among-elites, or find themselves quickly plucked from conventional units and transformed into these instruments of empire) or Rainbow Six (a unit named such because it pulls operators from various national sources, akin to the heavy use of Canadian and Norwegian special forces during the early days of the War in Afghanistan) depicts their work as world-saving and selfless, when it so often involves the mundane, the maintenance of conditions of imperial domination. Killing and killing often is their job, and even then Gallagher was unsettlingly invested in the practice thereof, was violating the taboos set out by a unit already operating in violation of certain taboos around what acceptable means of combat are, what the role of a soldier or warfighter is.

These companies are incredibly mainstream, are companies that average people see nothing wrong with patronizing. The way that gun culture, conservative politics, and such “veteran-owned” companies inform one another creates the kind of “thin blue line” ideology that so often surrounds discussion of the police, of the militarization of police forces, how these forces direct their violence inwards onto the populations they supposedly protect. The fetishization of the veteran, the way that veteran status is seen as creating a kind of irreproachable figure allows for the creation of Pete Buttegig, a candidate so unremarkable that it is itself remarkable, whose craven careerism lead to his decision to join the Naval Reserve and work in intelligence before entering politics. Buttegig seems to at least acknowledge implicitly that it was just this, a career move, resume building, rather than understanding it as some kind of noble calling like the founder of BRCC wants to sell it. Appealing to aimlessness, an inability to afford college or housing, is how much of the Working Class will see the military more than 18 years after 9/11, the patriotic fervor long gone. Meanwhile, the creation of an officer class akin to that seen with the buying of commissions, new Kennedys graduating Ivies and entering the military to acquire the mark of veteran status before moving on to their actual career in neoliberal politics should not be surprising.

Gallagher is an extension of this, is the epitome thereof: the culture that defends cops, that pays their legal fees sight-unseen, that assumes an officer’s innocence to the point where gun manufacturers create programs such that they will send a replacement firearm for temporary use if an officer’s is taken as evidence in a shooting, where police are assumed to be in the right or eventually justified as such, where war criminals can use their experience as a selling point, where you can become a celebrity for being convicted of war crimes or for being part of an “officer-involved” shooting. It is a culture of militancy, of fascism, one which makes it rather hard to argue that contemporary right-wing gun culture presents much of a threat to hegemony given that the authority that such guns would be turned against are so friendly with the ones that make such guns.

That so many within gun circles see little, if anything, wrong with this, are willing to support companies that create and maintain this ideological space, are so willing to support the police and military, is a genuine problem. The way that gun owners talk about the ATF, about Ruby Ridge or Waco, about no-knock raids and SWAT killings, needs to be expanded into a wider critique of how police operate and how police, military, and paramilitary organizations maintain hegemony even if they come into conflict at times, how the militia movement’s right-wing character shows a willingness to support the ideology of the state even when claiming opposition to it, a desire to restructure the same ideals into privately-held reproductions of the same, the question of exactly how one should oppose or criticize this when it is so pervasive is one that must be asked.

Ever been in one of those situations where you put your trust in the wrong person. Yeah me to. I used to be "friends" with this female who turned out to be TOXIC! She caused so many problems in my life to a point where she would use me to lie for her, watch her brat of a child. When I met my husband back in 2014, the toxic female would try her best to break me and him up. It was early days in our relationship and she would always expect me to drop everything including date night plans to help her out of sticky situations. After seeing the effects of how miserable I was being made to feel, my husband eventually got me to walk away from the toxic female and finally be happy. I felt so much better without being associated with her. We never spoke again, would avoid each other in public etc. Fast for to a few months ago, I was waiting on a bus to work, she approached me trying to use my child as a pawn to win back "friendship" by telling me that my son's nan had passed away, saying I was to unblock her as she missed me. Obviously I didn't unblock her from my socials and the next time I saw my son I asked his uncle how his mum (my son's nan) was and that I hadn't seen her in awhile, he answered saying she is still struggling with the whole pandemic but is much better than before. That cleared that up. The toxic female told me a malicious lie. I mean has she no better things to be getting on with than trying to get me to fall for her BS 🐂💩 again.

My life has improved massively over the years I have been with my husband, we met in 2014, engaged in 2015 & married in 2016. I don't have a big circle of friends and I am okay with that as I would rather surround myself with those who are positive influences to me. Those friends hold a special place in my heart ♥️ I have my 2 best friends who I have been friends with since high school so they are more like Sisters to me.

If anyone feels there are red flags in your life with certain people. Please don't ignore them as you deserve to be happy.

Signs to look out for

1. You feel on-edge around this person, but you still want them to like you. You find yourself writing off most of their questionable behavior as accidental or insensitive, because you’re in constant competition with others for their attention and praise. They don’t seem to care when you leave their side—they can just as easily move on to the next source of energy.

2. They withhold attention and undermine your self-esteem. After first hooking you with praise and flattery, they suddenly become reclusive and uninterested. They make you feel desperate & needy, ensuring that you are always the one to initiate contact or physical intimacy.

3. Plasters your Facebook page with compliments, flattery, songs, and poems. They text you dozens, if not hundreds of times per day. You come to rely on this over-communication as a source of confidence.

4. Quickly declares you their soul mate. And for some reason, you don’t find it creepy. They tell you how much they have in common with you. On the first few dates, you do most of the talking and they just can’t believe how perfect you are for them.

5. Compares you to everyone else in their life. Ex-lovers, friends, family members, and your eventual replacement. When idealizing, they make you feel special by telling you how much better you are than these people. When devaluing, they use these comparisons to hurt you.

6. Lies and excuses. There is always an excuse for everything, even things that don’t require excusing. They make up lies faster than you can question them. They will always blame others—it is never their fault. They spend more time rationalizing their behavior than improving it.

7. No startle response. Total absence of anxiety, fear, and worry where there otherwise should be. They are also very easily bored by the familiar. You write this off as calm and cool, often feeling inferior and over-sensitive because you have normal human emotions.

8. Insults you with a condescending, joking sort of attitude. Smirks when you try to express yourself. Teasing becomes the primary mode of communication in your relationship. They subtly belittle your intelligence and achievements. If you point this out, they call you hypersensitive and crazy.

9. Uses social networking to provoke jealousy and rivalries while maintaining their cover of innocence. They once focused all of their attention on you, but now they post ambiguous videos and statuses to make you doubt your place in their heart. They bait previously denounced exes with old songs and inside jokes. They attend to new activity and ignores yours.

10. You find yourself playing detective. It is never happened in any other relationship, but suddenly you are scrolling back years on their Facebook page and albums. Same with their ex. You are seeking answers to a feeling you cannot quite explain.

11. Surrounds themselves with former lovers and potential mates. Brags that their exes still want to sleep with him/her, but assures you there is nothing to worry about. These people make you feel jealous and give off the perception that your partner is in high-demand.

12. Hyperbolizes emotions while displaying none of them. They make passionate statements like “I have never felt so happy in my life” in a completely robotic voice. It sounds like an alien trying to explain how they imagine human emotions might feel.

13. You are the only one who sees their true colors. Others will think they’re the nicest person in the world, even though they are used for money, resources, and attention. They will not care because he/she strategically distracts them with shallow praise (often done over social networking). Psychopaths are able to maintain superficial friendships far longer than their relationships.

14. Accuses you of emotions that they are intentionally provoking. They will call you jealous after blatantly flirting with their ex over social networking for the world to see. They will call you needy after intentionally ignoring you for three days straight.

15. Cannot put themselves in your shoes, or anyone else’s for that matter. You find yourself desperately trying to explain how they might feel if you were treating them this way, and they just stare at you blankly.

16. You are engaged in constant conversations about their ex. You know them by name, and you know everything about their relationship—at least, your partner’s version of events. The ex becomes one of the most frequent topics of discussion in your relationship.

17. You find yourself explaining the basic elements of human respect to a full-grown man/woman. Normal people understand the fundamental concepts of honesty and kindness. No adult should need to be told how they are making other people feel.

18. Focuses on your mistakes and ignores their own. If they’re two hours late, do not forget that you were once five minutes late to your first date. If you point out their mistakes, they will always be quick to turn the conversation back on you.

19. Suddenly and completely bored by you. Gives you the silent treatment and becomes very annoyed that you seem to be interested in continuing the passionate relationship that they created. You are now a chore to them.

20. The ultimate hypocrite. They have extremely high expectations for fidelity, respect, and adoration. After the idealization phase, they will give none of this back to you. They will cheat, lie, insult, and degrade. But you are expected to remain perfect.

21. Sometimes it seems as though they’ve forgotten who they’re supposed to be around you. They adopt different personas for different people—transforming their entire personality to match various audiences. It is always very eerie when they slip and accidentally use the wrong mask for you. You will start to feel that their personality just does not seem to add up.

22. An unusual amount of “crazy” people in their past. Any ex-partner or friend who did not come crawling back to them will likely be labeled jealous, bipolar, an alcoholic, or some other nasty smear. They will speak about you the same way to their next target.

23. Flatters your deepest insecurities. If you are self-conscious about your looks, they will call you the sexiest person in the world. If you have got a need to entertain, they will say you’re the funniest person they have ever known. They will also mirror your greatest fantasies, playing whatever role is necessary to win your heart.

24. Frequently comments about what you are wearing and how you look. They try to arrange you. You become obsessed with your appearance, noticing flaws that likely don’t even exist. During and after the relationship, you will spend significantly more time in front of the mirror.

25. You fear that any fight could be your last. Normal couples argue to resolve issues, but psychopaths make it clear that negative conversations will jeopardize the relationship, especially ones regarding their behavior. You apologize and forgive quickly, otherwise you know they’ll lose interest in you.

26. Obsessed with humiliating successful, kind, and cheerful people. Delighted by the idea of breaking up friendships and marriages. If you work hard to maintain interpersonal peace in your life, they will make it their mission to uproot all of it.

27. Gaslighting. Blatantly denies their own manipulative behavior and ignores evidence when confronted with it. They will become angry if you attempt to disprove their delusions with facts.

28. They expect you to read their mind. If they stop communicating with you for several days, it’s your fault for not knowing about the plans they never told you about. There will always be a self-victimizing excuse to go along with this.

29. Selfishness and a crippling thirst for attention. They drain the energy from you and consume your entire life. Their demand for adoration is insatiable. You thought you were the only one who could make them happy, but now you feel that anyone with a beating pulse could fit the role. However, the truth is: no one can fill the void of a psychopath’s soul.

30. Your feelings. After a run-in with a psychopath, you will feel insane, exhausted, drained, shocked, suicidal, and empty. You will tear apart your entire life—spending money, ending friendships, and searching for some sort of reason behind it all.

We can find that normal and loving people do not raise any of these flags. After a negative encounter, most survivors face the struggle of hypervigilance: who can really be trusted? Our gauge will swing back and forth for a while, like a volatile pendulum. We all wonder if we have gone absolutely mad for wanting to believe the best in an old friend or a new date, but also feeling sick to the stomach when actually spending time with them.

It is important to develop our intuition, but that is a personal process. The world is mostly full of good people, and we suffer a double punishment if we miss them due to the fear of being hurt again.

People need to set aside some time to get in touch with their feelings, and become comfortable with a balance of awareness and trust. The reflection offers understanding about our emotions. It helps provide understanding for which old relationships need to be refreshed, and which toxic patterns need to be abandoned and replaced by healthier ones.

Society conditions us to ask “does this person like me” instead of exercising critical thinking and asking “do I like this person?”

⚔️ *:･ﾟ✧┆HEADCANON : WATCHMEN OF FATE

       I haven’t written a headcanon in a HOT MINUTE, so here is one I’ve been COOKING UP for a while. Yozora’s ascension as the GOD of death and reincarnation was ORCHESTRATED by spectres known as the WATCHMEN OF FATE. Inspired by the new thematic motifs introduced by Nomura in the FF.7 REMAKE, I’ve decided to incorporate the WATCHMEN in Yozora’s meta. This post explains their ORIGINS, APPEARANCE, and OCCURRENCES in both Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy-- and how they consequently LINK to the Verum Rex meta I’ve written SO FAR. 

       ONE.  ┆ APPEARANCE & ABILITIES

The watchmen often manifest in dark, phantasmic forms: resembling the GRIM REAPERS of mortal folklore. They are hooded creatures, sometimes bearing cadaverous bodies, or being entirely amorphous. They occupy the spiritual realm, only visible to some on the physical realm. Whilst they do not speak, their mere presence sparks an air of foreboding, and serves as an OMEN of oncoming death.  

       TWO.  ┆ ORIGINS & MOTIVES

The feeling of someone “meeting their fate” is due to the actions of the watchmen, who serve as both spectators and “auditors” in the upkeep of the universe. Some maintain the BALANCE of the universe, ensuring that those who are worthy are rewarded, and those who have wronged are punished. Others are “tricksters” by nature, and purposely MANIPULATE the fate of certain beings to alter the wider course of destiny. The watchmen do not side with good nor evil, indiscriminate in their acts upon mankind.  

       THREE.  ┆ WATCHMEN OF FATE : FINAL FANTASY 7 

We get a deeper insight into the role of the WATCHMEN through the various FF7 remake trailers. Interestingly enough, the watchmen do not appear solely around Aerith (whose fate, as we know, is to die by Sephiroth’s blade). However, they are also present in another scene with Tifa and Cloud... Implying that the watchmen are following Cloud instead. 

We can see from THIS GIF that after touching Cloud’s hand, Aerith can see the watchmen-- she looks up in awe immediately after grabbing him. Like Cloud, only certain mortals-- those with a strong hold of their karma-- possess the ability to see the agents of fate in the physical realm. More on this later in the post. 

      FOUR.  ┆ THE LICH : KINGDOM HEARTS 3

Like the spectral beings debuted in the FF7 remake trailer, the LICH at the end of KH3 can be seen as another watchmen of fate. The name ‘lich’ is incredibly specific, and was used intentionally (as opposed to a simple ‘Heartless’). The definition of a lich is as follows:

“ Often such a creature is the result of a transformation, as a powerful magician skilled in necromancy or a KING striving for ETERNAL LIFE using spells or rituals to bind his intellect and soul to his "phylactery" and thereby achieving a form of IMMORTALITY. Liches are depicted as being clearly cadaverous, bodies desiccated or completely skeletal. Liches are often depicted as holding power over hordes of lesser undead creatures, using them as soldiers and servants. Unlike zombies, which are often depicted as mindless, a lich is SAPIENT, retaining independent thought and is as intelligent as it was prior to its TRANSFORMATION. “

As stated by YMX, the Lich exists "to usher hearts down into the depths of darkness" - aka DEATH. It purposely coaxes Sora to delve further into the sleeping worlds, leading him to his DEMISE.  

       FIVE.  ┆ FATE MEETS TRUTH : VERUM REX 

Whilst sharing similar goals, Yozora was not BORN a watchman of fate. He was a victim of the watchmen HIMSELF, once antagonising fate as he RESISTED his ascension to become king of humanity. But later, upon discovering the DISORDER wrought upon the universe, Yozora accepts his CROWN and new role as king of the UNDERWORLD -- and later, the god of death. 

He becomes the LICH we see near the end of KH3: imprisoning the HEARTS of the friends who had indeed PASSED AWAY: only for Sora to abuse the POWER OF WAKING to resurrect them. Yozora takes the form of the LICH when he is sleeping: his SOUL manifests into a NIGHT TERROR which fates the guilty to a permanent sleep. Those with a strong KARMA, like Sora and Cloud, are able to see the WATCHMEN and Yozora in his LICH FORM.  ( EDIT April 23rd: thinking of reworking this to make the Lich an avatar of the larger force of Fate, similar to the Whisper Rubrum / Croceo / Viridi attached to the Whisper Harbinger in FF7R. To edit this post later. )

Yozora now walks alongside the watchmen-- not against them. He is responsible for afflicting CONSEQUENCE upon departed souls: forcing them to serve PUNISHMENT for their transgressions in their recent life, and MOVING their souls onto the next life. The WATCHMEN lead the dead to Yozora, for him to enact DIVINE RETRIBUTION. Indeed, despite succumbing to his own FATE, Yozora still despises the CONCEPT of it. He much rather be in control of HIMSELF and others, than to allow higher powers to determine his FUTURE.

The Incredible Hulk #333. July, 1987. By Peter David and Todd McFarlane.

In a small town, Blaire White is recovering from another beating put onto her by her husband, Mike White, the local sheriff. As he shaves his face while preparing for the work day, Mike justifies the beating and berates his battered wife. Having had enough, Blaire reaches into the night table and pulls out a revolver. She fantasizes about killing him to stop the abuse, but can't bring herself from pulling the trigger. When Mike emerges from the bathroom and sees his wife with the gun in her hand he dares her to take a shot at him. When she chokes under the pressure he beats his wife some more, questioning her on what is going on inside her head.

Meanwhile, in the ruins of Bruce Banner's secret lab, the Hulk pulls himself out of the rubble after an experiment to transfer Rick Jone's gamma radiation into the boy of the Leader ended in a massive explosion. Rick has also survived thanks to the fact that the Hulk shielded his body. When Rick comes around he is surprised to discover that it is night time and he hasn't transformed into the Hulk. Rick is thankful to the Hulk, but when he suggests that they repeat the process with him, the Hulk has not interest in being cured and swats Jones aside. The Hulk does not want to be a weakling like Bruce Banner. Now that the Leader seemingly died in the blast, the Hulk has been cheated out of the promise to eliminate Bruce Banner so the Hulk can lived unrestrained. The Hulk then refuses to return to Gamma Base, and warns Rick against crossing paths with him again and leaps off. Rick then hops into the ambulance that has been left on the scene. Inside he finds the body of the bludgeoned morgue technician and that the gurney carrying the body of Thaddeus Ross is now empty.

The Hulk lands in a nearby town and with sunrise coming up, he seeks to do something to impede the Banner from trying to find a cure during the daylight hours. Spotting a liquor store, the Hulk breaks in and then begins to drink a massive amount of alcohol until the sun begins to come up. When the transformation into Bruce Banner begins Banner finds himself heavily intoxicated and passes out. He is later found by Mike White and his officers who are shocked by the damage done by this puny man. When Bruce is woken up, he tries to explain himself he is too drunk to articulate himself and he passes out again. Banner is then put under arrest. While back at Gamma Base, Rick Jones returns to to find his ride surrounded by SHIELD agents who are aware that he was the "new" Hulk. When Rick is brought into the facility, he tells Betty that Bruce forced himself to transform into the Hulk in order to cure him. This upsets Betty who is furious of all the neglect and secrets that her husband has been keeping from her. When Rick tries to justify it, Betty storms off while Jones is restrained. As she walks away, Hideko gives Betty a note. It's a message from her ex-lover Ramon who tells her to meet him at Chelsie's Bar at 7 pm that evening.

Back in town, Blaire White goes over her photo album and reflects back on her relationship with Mike. She recalls how handsome and strong he was when they first met in high school. Although gentle to all, he refused to be bullied and often defended himself easily thanks to his strong body. She recalls one time when a classmate named Piper tried to get back at Mike by attacking him with a pipe, her future husband managed to disarm his opponent and then used his strength to bend the bar in half. Mike kept the bar as a representation of his great strength. She recalls how they started dating and after high school they got married. After he became sheriff, they tried to have children and discovered that she couldn't carry his child. That's when the abuse started as Mike began taking out his frustrations on his wife. Deciding that she has had enough of the abuse, Blaire decides that it is time to leave and packs a bag. At that moment, Bruce Banner is waking up in a cell with no idea how he got there and feeling hung over. Struggling with his memories, he tries to access those of the Hulk's mind. He begins recalling how the now-powerless Leader sought the Hulk's aid to restore his lost powers. How he intentionally transformed himself into the Hulk. How he now changes into the original gray Hulk and how these transformations now happen every night. He also discovers that the Hulk's persona will overpower him depending on the phase of the moon, and that the Hulk's persona will be strongest during the new moon. Worse, this new version of the Hulk -- more intelligent and more cruel than ever before -- has made it his mission to prevent Bruce Banner from maintaining control ever again.

Coming completely out of his stupor, Bruce demands Mike White let her free and get him back to Gamma Base. White refuses to listen and begins antagonizing Bruce by slamming the bent bar of his youth against the bars of Bruce's cell. However, this is just as the sun begins to set and Bruce suddenly transforms into the Hulk. Not liking the mockery of this man, the Hulk breaks out of the cell and begins beating on the sheriff. Their fight takes them out into the street where a crowd gathers, including Mike's wife. The townspeople have come to considered the sheriff a bully and begin cheering for the Hulk. However, when the gamma-spawned monster begins gaining the upper hand, Mike's wife tells him to stop, pointing a gun at him. The Hulk sees how Blaire's face is bruised and leaves her husband to him. Blaire goes to her husband and helps him up. Instead of being grateful, Mike begins to berate his wife for humiliating him in front of the whole town. Fed up again, she points her gun at Mike's head. He dares her to pull the trigger, and surprisingly she does and he is killed instantly. In a state of shock, Blaire insists that she didn't mean to shoot her husband, but the Hulk isn't convinced and leaps away.

Meanwhile, at Christie's Bar, Ramon is waiting for his rendezvous with Betty. To his surprise she actually shows up. Confused as to the thoughts she has about her father, her husband Bruce, and herself, Betty decides that she needs to feel something like she used to. Ramon tells her that's what he does best.

I love it when a writer makes sense of all the nonsense that happened before him. The point in case here is Hulk nightly transformations. Cannot say it makes sense, but at least tries.

Betty-s journey is not very clear just yet, I am guessing that whatever Peter David was trying to say, Marvel didn’t.

The Empire Is Crumbling, But Not Dead, and Desperate for War

The New York Times and Robert Mueller Try To Revive the Dying Russiagate

May 1, 2018 (EIRNS)—With Russiagate collapsing into “Muellergate,” and all the major players facing criminal prosecutions themselves, Robert Mueller and the New York Times cooperated in a rather desperate ploy to give the coup attempt against President Trump some new life. The Times ran a series of about 50 questions which Mueller supposedly wants to ask Trump, and which the Mueller team reportedly read to Trump’s legal team. Somehow the questions got leaked to the Times, although the Times does admit that it was leaked “by a person outside Mr. Trump’s legal team.”

Many of the questions are of the “Have you stopped beating your wife, yet?” variety, such as “What knowledge did you have of any outreach by your campaign, including by Paul Manafort, to Russia about potential assistance to the campaign?”

The President lost no time tweeting his response:

“So disgraceful that the questions concerning the Russian Witch Hunt were leaked to the media. No questions on Collusion. Oh, I see...you have a made up, phony crime, Collusion, that never existed, and an investigation begun with illegally leaked classified information. Nice!”

Also: “It would seem very hard to obstruct justice for a crime that never happened! Witch Hunt!”

Today’s video is about Dragon Lords, which are awesome, and I will hear no word to the contrary.

Hello everyone, I am Gabe, I am back, and I am ready to finish up this Elemental Video series. Are you ready? I’m ready, because today we get to the awesome part. Today we get to talk about the Dragon Lords.

That’s right, dragons.

And the Lords of them.

Except, fewer dragons, and really just the Lords. The Dragon Lords. They’re elementals. And we’re going to get into what exactly a Dragon Lord is and what they can do. Are you ready? I’m ready. Let’s do this.

First things first: What exactly is a Dragon Lord? Dragon Lords are impressively powerful elemental/mortal hybrids, “born” when an Elemental Lord bonds with a mortal host. The elemental lord is allowed to exist within the mortal plane for an indefinite period of time, while the mortal gains access to the elemental lord’s powers. That’s all well and good, but why are they given the title of “Dragon Lord”? Does the mortal gain the ability to transform into a dragon?

No, they do not. Elemental Lords are the only beings in the universe with the knowledge of how to “craft” dragons, but their realms lack the materials needed to do that. The mortal realm has an abundance of these resources, but there are no mortals powerful enough to complete the spell necessary to create the dragon. A Dragon Lord, therefore, is the only being with the knowledge and ability to create and command dragons. Since this is the only circumstance where dragons are seen, the creature that results from the bonding of an Elemental Lord to a mortal is known as a Dragon Lord.

Now, what makes a Dragon Lord a Dragon Lord besides the whole dragon thing? Well, obviously, the entity must have a mortal body that is hosting an Elemental Lord. This effectively makes the mortal immortal (although it’s more appropriate to call them “timeless” because they do not age and are no longer affected by the passage of time). Dragon Lords are also, by their nature, crazy powerful. Their power is not limitless—they’re still restricted by the limitations of their bodies—but they have a vast wealth of power to tap into. They also retain the ability to exert their will upon other elementals and find more success with this than if they remained an Elemental Lord (even if they are influencing another elemental lord).

While we’re talking about their powers of compulsion, other Dragon Lords are more resistant to their influence. Additionally, Dragon Lords cannot control dragons they did not craft. This really only applies to dragons outside of the Dragon Lord’s class, but if a Dragon Lord is slain, then whatever dragons they crafted will not respond to the commands of their Elemental Lord. Dragon Lords are also hard-aligned to their magical class (so they can only use spells from their class), and an Elemental Lord cannot move to a new host without first killing their current host.

Speaking of: Within a Dragon Lord’s mind is a fierce battle of wills. Not only does the bonding process amplify the mortal’s inherent magical powers, it also similarly affects their subconscious desires, which often conflict with the want of the Elemental Lord (which is to expand their domain). Both Elemental Lord and mortal recognize that outside threats to their being take precedence over all else, but all other times both wills are at odds with one another. There are times when one will overpower and subdue the other, but there is no way to “push out” either entity that resides within the Dragon Lord’s mind.

And a quick note that I feel like I shouldn’t have to make, but I will: A mortal can only host one Elemental Lord. Like multi-aligning, there is no multi-Elemental Dragon Lord, and also the only way to break the bond between an Elemental Lord and a mortal is to kill the mortal host. It’s a permanent thing, so you’d better be committed to becoming a Dragon Lord. There are no take-backs.

So: What else can and can’t Dragon Lords do? Dragon Lords possess the ability to pass between the mortal realm and their elemental domain virtually at will. This power does take some time to cast, and can be interrupted, but the Dragon Lord can retreat back into their domain to regain their strength if necessary.

Speaking of which, Dragon Lords can also “terraform” an area to make it more like their elemental domain. While within this area, the Dragon Lord’s power is further increased and elementals of all levels (excepting the Elemental Lords) can exist without fear of losing their power to the mortal realm. This is not a true expansion of the domain, but it often serves as a “good enough” alternative while the Dragon Lord contends with the other threats to its power that often arise on the mortal plane.

Now, if you remember from the death knight magic video, I mentioned that there are “elemental death knights,” defined as elemental spirits that have been bonded to a human body. In that video, I said this was done by Demise, Elemental Lord of Necromancy. That was a half-truth. I intentionally misled you then. The reality is that an elemental lord must be bonded as a Dragon Lord if they want to bond an elemental spirit or scion to another body. Unlike the bonding process that makes a Dragon Lord, an elemental spirit’s host must have already vacated their body. Spirits and scions don’t possess the cognizance required to contend with a mortal consciousness. An elemental force, being more intelligent than the lower classes of elemental, would be able to maintain a bond similar to a Dragon Lord’s, and a Dragon Lord is able to create such a being. However, the resulting entity would be more difficult to control and would have about the same amount of power as a dragon, which is not. So, Dragon Lords stick to bonding spirits and scions with corpses. It’s the easier option.

Next question: Can Dragon Lords breed? Can you, a human person, make sweet, weird, magical love at a Dragon Lord to make a baby? Answer: Probably not? It is assumed “no,” because elementals lack the components necessary for sexual reproduction and the process of making the host immortal overrides some of their bodily functions. Nobody actually knows, however, because there aren’t many Dragon Lords to study, and they don’t take to mortals very well. Mortals are all seen as a threat to their mission (expanding the elemental domain).

Yes, there are Dragon Lords present in the mortal realm, although during both series they are inactive (for now). There are confirmed to be three Dragon Lords: Pyrus the Lord of Fire, Aquis the Lord of Water, and Demise the Lord of Undeath (the Dragon Lords take on the name of their Elemental Lord, not their mortal host). I don’t want to give too many details about them, because they’re all the foci of their own stories (again, inactive for now), but I will give you an idea of where they are in the world. Pyrus and Aquis rendered each other inactive in a war waged on the other side of the world sometime before or during the founding of the Brotherhood of Light and the Union. Demise is kept under control by the Kingdom of the South Sea, a nation of Hydromancers that Swift eventually becomes King of (and that’s not a spoiler, because this information has been available in Rise of the Black King and Lightbreaker for years).

And I think that’s everything I wanted to cover with the Dragon Lords. Again, this is something I’ve really wanted to talk about for a long time now, so thanks for indulging me as I ramble about something I think is super awesome.
