TRUST: trust is a big thing for miles. he wants to be vulnerable with his girlfriend and also be able to confide in her as well as get that same treatment back. if miles notices that you don’t have his back as much as you should, he will get a weird feeling from it but also very irritated because he feels he is there for you and as a girlfriend you should be giving the same energy back— if not more.

this also includes lying. miles hates it when you lie to him even if it’s a half lie or the “bended” truth. he takes it as a sign of dishonesty and that you may not be as loyal as he thought. he also counts lying as if you don’t tell him something and brush it off by saying everything is fine with you when it clearly isn’t.

PRESSURE: miles doesn’t want to be pressured into doing things or guilt tripped. sometimes he doesn’t feel like going on a date or hanging out, but if you make him feel a certain way for choosing to be indoors and reading he will feel bad and force himself to do whatever you wanted to do. he doesn’t want that.

miles wants to feel comfortable in his relationship with you and doesn’t want to feel like he needs to conform to your needs and wants in fear that it will distort the idea you have of him. he doesn’t want to be taken away from his hobbies and interest that give him peace from the chaotic lifestyle he has, meaning that he really values his alone time to just be with himself.

AFFECTION: pavitr is very physically affectionate and just shows his love very up-front. if he tries to hug you, hold your hand, or even touch you just a little and you give a almost disgusted reaction it definitely gives him the ick. and not in the sense that you are uncomfortable with physical touch, but if his girlfriend seems annoyed by him trying to show his love it definitely turns him off a little. not listening to him, not making an effort to talk to him, etc. it’s like when you go to hug someone and they try to close themself off mid hug and back away jus because…

example. pavitr laughs really hard at something his girlfriend says and goes to give her a playful touch but instead he sees her giving him a glare for laughing so loud before telling him to quiet down and backs away from his grasp

PESSIMISTIC: he doesn’t always expect you to be happy go lucky about life because if anyone knows that not every day is a happy one— it’s him. however, if you are constantly negative and bringing down happy moments for him or good news by the potential bad that can come from it or just always complaining? you’re basically killing his vibe and the last thing pavitr wants is to have a girlfriend that won’t be a energy vampire and will support him wanting to look on the bright side. he is spiderman after all it’s literally his job to give hope and he will try to inspire you but if he finds that his crush his continuously complaining or being negative when there is no need he will start to be turned off by the behavior.

example. he wants to take you out but you rather stay inside and watch a movie even though you two haven’t went out in a while

EXES: this is a definite turn off if you talk about exes too much and not even in a way where you open up about possible trauma/hardships you endured but reminiscing certain times, discussing talking stages before you both got together, and such. he feels like if you’re in a relationship you shouldn’t praise an ex person you were romantically affiliated with. he doesn’t just find it awkward, but also a little disrespectful and shameless to just do it in-front of him.

it also makes him feel insecure and overthink like, “there must be a reason she’s bringing this up.” he’ll also get irritated if he brings up that he finds it weird/rude and in response you basically downplay it.

DISORGANIZED: pavitr would hate if you had a messy room. he feels like peoples rooms and houses are a reflection of who they are, so if you’re messy? yeah, no. and i don’t mean the type of mess where you were busy and stuff has been moved around and not cleaned up yet, depression bed, but full on sloppy and borderline hoarding. he could not deal with that and i can imagine him beginning to frantically circle your room and offer you free assistance if it’s that bad.

to summarize, pavitr wants somebody who is gonna be on the same positive wavelength he is, tries to make the most out of every day, remains respectful and affectionate, and puts effort into how they carry themself.

BAD LISTENER: something that will turn this man off almost immediately is not being good at listening to him, comforting him, and everything that has to do with this man’s trauma. miguel wants somebody who is gonna be a shoulder to cry on even if he won’t actually cry often. he wants someone who is listen to him and just let him dump his thoughts without putting any of the weight on you. but if you’re bad a listening it’s definitely gonna get on his nerves.

example. miguel is venting to you about gabi and how he feels that he failed her as a father and protector but when he looks up to see your face, he notices you aren’t paying attention by how clouded your eyes look— almost as of you’re thinking of something else entirely.

if his girlfriend or someone he has romantic interest in did that, his heart would shatter and if he showed any sort of change in emotion on his face in the silence you could probably swear you hear the pieces hitting the ground. it’s very important to him to have someone to talk to because his group of people who support him has gotten shorter and shorter throughout the years.

JUDGMENTAL: miguel hates a know-it-all. he doesn’t want to open up to someone who he feels will be critical of what he likes, his hobbies, his lifestyle, his choices and mistakes, etc. he doesn’t want somebody who is going to make drama out of nothing and just play games with him by saying stuff just to get a rise out of him. will it work? yes. does he hate it and it gives him an ick that you’re trying to get him angry on purpose knowing how he is? absolutely.

CLINGY: he is a bit hesitant to physical touch even when being touch starved. miguel makes it very clear that he does not want to be overly attacked with affection or forced into being affection because he father eases his way into it and basically take things slow. however, if you try to pressure him into being physically affectionate or just cling to his side he will definitely get annoyed.

he wants you to respect when he wants space or time to himself, and you showing that support and allowing him that is basically a silent blessing to him.

POOR COMMUNICATION: communication is very important to miguel. and not communication in terms of talking to him regularly and he gets mad at you of you don’t talk to him, because while that can be the case sometimes if he notices you avoiding him, it’s more so about talking to him.

“you know, i feel like a babysitter talking to a noisy kid that still doesn’t know how to listen to when they’re being talk to.”

example. he notices you acting off and asks you about it but instead of saying a genuine answer you make up a lie or completely shrug it off, which prompts an argument because he confronts you for not talking to him

miguel would never force you to open up, but he also doesn’t want you to lie. if there is truly something wrong, he at least wants you to voice that instead of lying and saying everything is fine because it creates distrust and other underlying problems. a simple “i don’t want to talk about it” would keep him at ease and he would offer you anything to make you feel better. however, if you go out of your way to not communicate well with him especially during arguments than he will begin to get the ick

example. you and him get into an argument and after it you decide to ignore him which he views as childish and petty as it causes a rift between you two.

DIRECTNESS: similar to miles, miguel wants his girlfriend to be straightforward with how she feels. he doesn’t wish for her to sugarcoat things just to try and ease his mind because to him that feels like bending the truth and taking away a layer of what you really want to say. he doesn’t want you to be “childish” when addressing problems in the relationship and he will set you straight or he sees you acting this way while he’s trying to communicate with you.

but if he can’t persuade you the act different as well as handle things better and you can’t bother to change, that will be the end of the relationship to him. biggest ick of icks for him.

also random but he also as icks linked to the self image of his partner. he would be an angrier man if you had bad hygiene, kept apologizing 24/7, and doubted yourself most of the time similar to nice guys who are just self pitying. even if you aren’t self pitying… his reaction is still the same.

Like I think I get the origin (maybe)? It probably started when some of the early jikook bloggers (if you are one I salute you, I am not worthy, trust me this is NOT a dig at anyone, jikook bloggers are by and large cool and kind af 🙇‍♀️) would get these sketchy asks that were antis or cultists in disguise just casting aspersions on jikook’s bond or being blatantly homophobic and/or in general being rude little anonymous internet gremlins. Or maybe it was people who did want to believe that jikook was real but kept nagging and begging for reassurance at every turn, which I can totally see becoming annoying as hell and prompting people to start using the term.

But it feels like it’s used now as like a catchall for anyone who expresses any doubt or asks any critical questions? Even like… reasonable ones? And I used to see a lot of “hey believe what you want to believe but this is what I believe” but now it seems like the sentiment around jikooker communities has by and large become “if you don’t believe you’re an idiotic dumb person who has never known love — you’re either a rival shipper in disguise or WORSE (dun dun dunnnnn) an Insecure Jikooker — and we don’t want people like you around.”

And idk it just feels weird for a community that has always seemed to kind of pride itself on being the “rational, fact-based” ship… like we LOVE to be smug about how jikook don’t need edits to be obvious, don’t need slo-mo zooms with red circles and arrows because their chemistry and fondness and affection is just plain to see in basic footage. We’re the levelheaded ones 😌.

But doesn’t that mean that we should always be encouraging critical thinking, and if someone comes to a different conclusion than us, so be it? Like it or not, none of us have foolproof confirmation that jikook are anything more than very close friends. That’s literally all we know. The rest is our best guess based on vibes, anecdotes, dot-connecting, subtext and body language observation, experience, perception (!!This is a big one because confirmation bias is real!!), and suspicion. That’s literally it.

Look maybe I’m just projecting 😅 but when you criticize people for expressing reasonable doubt over something that is literally not confirmed, it’s just a little too religious fundamentalist for me! (This is why I was a bad Christian, because I always raised my hand and asked questions the Sunday school teacher didn’t like.)

-war games didn't happen (or at least happens far later and after this fic lol), nightwing #95 continues without interruption, with dick staying with catalina for around a month, and only leaving because of the combined effort of the titans intervening, dick reacts Badly to this, and while they do get him to leave her, their relationships suffer due to dick lashing out and distancing himself from them & them not having enough details to handle the situation super well

mostly focusing on tim trying to keep all his secrets from unravelling as well as trying to patch up bruce & dick's relationship without pissing dick off, while also juggling school and friendships and his grief over jack's death. dick meanwhile is insanely depressed and only now that he feels relatively safe staying with tim is he beginning to fully process everything that happened to him. tim knows that something happened with dick, but has absolutely none of the details, other than that he isn't really speaking with the titans.

basically they're a pressure cooker of secrets and anxieties and trauma all in one small apartment and they have to deal with their developing feelings for each other on top of that. also uncle eddie <3 because i love him lol

Now here's the thing right. I only have a few ideas on a Splatoon 4 so I don't think I can do a giant ramble about it yet. (the tattoos are explained in game to be temporary ones even though they secretly aren't, to make sure parents don't get the wrong idea lmao)

Maybe some gameplay tweaks too? like including very slight momentum when going downhill? It has to be very slight though for balance. I would like to add a dolphin dive like mechanic where if you press the jump button in the air in your swimming form, you'll quickly stomp to the ground, and that speed will be carried over when swimming in ink for a little while. Maybe faster horizontal wall swimming too? Basically make the gameplay a little bit faster is all I'm trying to say, Splatoon doesn't need a giant gameplay overhaul, just small tweaks to make the last game seem worse to play lmao.

And of course, BETTER SERVERS! WE NEED DEDICATED SERVERS! NOW!!!!!!!!!!! EVEN IF ITS JUST A FEW IT'LL BE SOOOOOO HELPFUL! STOP BEING STUPID NINTENDO! GOD!

Um... anyways!

Now, in terms of story.... I would have 3 parts, one is the main campaign while the other two are DLC. The main campaign is focused on the Salmonids. You play as a new agent (Agent X or something, i think that's a cool name) as you explore these islands Super Mario 64 style where you do missions and try and stop the Salmonids from getting out of control as they gone on a rampage from an unknown cause. You have to complete enough missions on an island to go to the next.

Basically, think of Salmon Run maps and areas found in Mario games but they are WAY LARGER and more complex areas to go through with NPCs to talk to. I really want Splatoon 4 to expand on the concepts found in the hub worlds in Alterna and go fully into a 3D Mario sandbox style game.

You also have to team up with Frye, Big Man, Neo Agent 3 and Marie who join up with a new cast of characters who are in charge of guiding you to new islands (haven't thought much about what these characters are) to figure out what's going on. Callie doesn't appear in the story as it's explained in a Sunken Scroll that Callie is helping Octavio figure out what to do with the Fuzzy Octarians that are still trapped in Alterna. And yes Octavio has now fully joined the New Squidbeak Splatoon which Callie is very ecstatic about.

Cuttlefish is fully retired and doesn't appear, and Captain is taking a break from captain duties, leaving Marie to watch over Frye and Big Man as she is their boss anyways. Now, where is Shiver in all this? Well... here me out... she's the villain. And no she doesn't have any sort of bullshit evil headgear on. She's a villain due to being corrupted by greed and wanting more power. She has become addicted to the high she gets from winning and feeling powerful and has teamed up with the Salmonids to gain even more power and cash. She's been fully consumed by power and cash and Frye and Big Man are not on board with her plans as Shiver doesn't wanna give back to the people in Splatsville anymore. So Shiver leaves the group and gathers up the Salmonids and commands them.

However it's revealed that Shiver is doing these things because she had a bad family upbringing in her clan and was always talked down to and treated as weak. So all that trauma and resentment is finally on the surface and Shiver is lashing out at everyone because her pain is so much for her. There could be some themes about found families and healing trauma with the people that you love and stuff like that. Haven't thought too deeply about it. But I would really love to see Deep Cut forgive Shiver and just hug and cry it out. I'll cry alongside them lol.

Now, the second story is focused on the Squid Sisters and takes place before the events of the main campaign. You play as Agent 4 and Callie finds you lying on the floor and tells you that Inkopolis Plaza has been covered in a strange fog and a weird green substance that looks like gooey moss. The buildings have changed and there's all this weird plant life and dust everywhere. Callie escorts you to the tower found in Inkopolis Plaza to figure out where Marie went and that's where you meet Octavio who got shot down in his mech from a laser.

The three go inside and the building looks very similar to the aesthetics of Side Order but with a hospital liminal space edge to it. It looks like a twisted dream hospital environment with a giant lobby in the middle.

This kind of vibe but more open and less hallway like. It should invoke the feeling of going to a hospital as a kid.

However, instead of an elevator to go higher, it's a giant spiraling staircase that grows after each floor Agent 4 completes. Basically the gameplay is the same as the rogue like gameplay found in Side Order but its heavily expanded upon with new enemies, objectives, color chips, etc. However... during the first 12 floors you hear these weird whispers and voices that sound very similar to Marie's voice.... Callie says she's getting major Deja Vu, and then Marie's voice is fully clear and echoes throughout the building, telling Callie in specific to leave her alone and to get out of here. They don't listen and continue forward.

When you reach the 12th floor, you go inside a giant white chamber and you see Marie in a new outfit that's similar to this outfit found in the Splatoon 2 artbook. Basically this but with a cool cloak and squid tentacle patterns on it and a gas mask instead of shades.

She's standing on some kind of green gooey moss and looks angry. Marie attacks Agent 4 with her charger and its a stealth boss where you gotta sneak around and get up to Marie and knock her down from the moss pile. Evil Marie has always been a beloved fan concept in the community, like Hypno Marie has so many cool fan designs out there and i think that could work honestly.

Callie manages to knock the mask off of Marie with a splat bomb but she's still angry. Callie grabs onto Marie and Marie calms down and cries. Agent 4 looks at the gas mask and its just filled with regular oxygen, nothing special about it. No hypnosis gas or anything. Just regular oxygen... Marie says she's sorry and explains that stuff from her past is catching up to her and making her unwell (you can guess on what I'm referring to wink wink.) She was unable to sleep for several days and was being manipulated by someone...

The thing behind Marie's manipulation appears from the ceiling and it's this giant white metallic squid that has transparent glass on some of it's body and arms, which shows this bright green goo flowing inside it. (think of Overlorder but he's a squid). I don't have a lot of information for this guy but this villain was created to cure Fuzzy Octarians, but due to unknown circumstances it went out of control and its coding was changed to "heal" people's pain by covering the planet in a modified and twisted version of Marie's low tide ink which now has evolved to be very similar to plant life. This goo/ink neutralizes certain parts of the brain, leaving the victim completely unfeeling and depressed, unable to feel anything, even physical touch or sensation. The villain manipulated Marie by going inside her head, analyzing her memories and telling her that all she has to is to get rid of "the intruders" and he will "heal her pain."

After the Marie boss fight, you have to travel up to 40 floors instead of 30 and during the downtime you get to learn about the Squid Sisters. Stuff like Callie and Marie before they blew up, who came up with their outfits, more info about their parents and managers, Marie talking about how she has trauma and nightmares from the events of Splatoon 2 and is terrified that one day Callie may leave and never come back again, Callie diving into her time in the Octo Canyon and finally clearing up what happened to her, Octavio showing remorse and sorrow for the actions he has done over the past 100 years. Basically Side Order but with the Squid Sisters, Octavio and Agent 4. I know it's a lot like Side Order but Side Order is so damn good so why not do it again but improve upon the gameplay you know?

That's all I got for this story and it's probably gonna change and be tweaked over time.

Now for the third story of Splatoon 4. I barely have anything for this but it will star the new Idol duo of the game, Off the Hook, Eight and Captain. I think it'll be like Octo Expansion in terms of gameplay and difficulty, but also expanded and longer to complete.

OKAY! NO MORE SPLATOON 4! TIME TO TALK ABOUT HYPNO CALLIE!

Hypno Callie Rewrite.

Honestly, the way I would go about rewriting Hypno Callie is very simple... Remove the Hypnoshades. That's it. She can still have them as an aesthetic part of her outfit, but i would make it so Callie is no longer hypnotized and it's WAY MORE clear to the audience that Callie is suffering from mental illness and that she left with the Octarians, not "kidnapped, overpowered and brainwashed into being a mind controlled slave." Splatoon 2 was always about the separation of the Squid Sisters and their eventual healing and reunion, it was always gonna be about that but due to time constraints probably, they rushed it and introduced bullshit shades to make it easier and simpler, they then tried to fix it later with an obscure post with a relationship chart that no one even fucking talks about, even timeline explainers fail to fucking mention it... ugh...

Making Callie an actual antagonist that has been manipulated by Octavio, whispering to her and playing into her insecurities and pain is way more compelling and makes more sense for Octavio to do as a character. Like how the fuck did he come up with the Hypnoshades and why did he only use it on Callie? He can just make hypnosis tech out of nowhere? Huh? It makes way more sense for Octavio to just manipulate her as he is a master of words and propaganda.

So what I would do is introduce a new mandatory collectable in the Splatoon 2 Hero Mode called "Callie's diary." At certain moments in the campaign Agent 4 and Marie find pages from Callie's diary as she explains her feelings and pain from being overworked and feeling some resentment as Marie has stopped calling or texting her. Marie looks so ashamed and disappointed and starts blaming herself for Callie's disappearance. Some of the diary entries include the photos found in Sunken Scrolls 21 and 22. The last diary entry found in Sector 4 is an emotional rant from Callie the day she went missing. She rants about how she can't take working anymore and how she's so lonely. Her last line is "if no one truly cares for me up here... Then... Maybe..." And there's a small tear stain at the bottom of the page.

Now for the final boss, the main plot points would occur sorta the same way, you fight Octavio and Callie, after a bit Marie comes in and shoots her in the eye, Callie calms down, blah blah blah. I actually really do like the idea of the "low tide ink" that the English translation team introduced. I think it's a neat idea that Marie has this special ink that calms someone down so I'll keep that for the rewrite.

However, during the final boss, i would make it to where Marie is really trying to reach to Callie and trying to convince her that she is loved and she matters, she tries to apologize for her actions and explains that Octavio is just manipulating her for the Octarians' goals. Callie fights back and doesn't wanna listen to her, constantly trying to shut her down. Marie even reminds Callie of their childhood and it almost gets to Callie, but she becomes more emotional and angry, she's so confused because deep down she knows Marie is right, but she's so scared to listen to her because she doesn't want to get abandoned again.

However what really gets to Callie is Marie collapsing on her knees and crying, just begging her badly to come back to her. And Marie says "I love you...." Callie is in shock and starts getting flashes of good memories with her and Marie. She holds the shades in her hands and destroys them. Callie leaps into the air and collides into Marie's arms, and they cry their eyes out and say sorry to each other.

The battle plays out the same but i would like to add another cutscene after Octavio gets his shit kicked in, Callie and Marie are on Sheldon's van and they look at the sunset together. I think that would be really sweet and connect beautifully with the credits and Fresh Start.

I took a lot of inspiration from the game Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and two boss fights in particular. The Miles vs. Peter fight, and the Spider-Man vs. Scream/MJ fight. In those boss fights, it's sort of like a therapy session for the characters in that the people under the symbiote are venting about their issues and expressing their anger they have kept hidden for so long, and the person on the other side is trying desperately to reach for them and save them from themselves. It's really powerful shit honestly and it made me feel emotional seeing Peter go "ALL I WANTED WAS TO SAVE EVERYONE! MJ! MAY! NOW THE CITY THINKS I'M THE PROBLEM! you think I'm the problem." Like i know it's kind of crazy to take inspiration from a game made for adults and take some of it into Splatoon but... I really don't give a shit. Children's media can show powerful scenes of characters struggling with their inner demons. They can do it and have proven to be successful. Children can handle it, they can.

Now... i have worked on a Splatoon 2 finale rewrite and I'm pretty much almost done with it, i need to finish the last bit of it and then go over it again so I'm fully happy with it. However i don't know how to present it as it's in the form of a script and idk how that's gonna work on tumblr, i mean i could put it on AO3 but idk if i wanna make an account just to post one thing on there and idk how many scripts get posted onto AO3 anyways...

It's like I'm a chef and I'm cooking something, but there's no waiter to deliver the food lmao.

chapter 20.

"Tara!" i screeched as soon as i heard her pick up the phone. "So much has happened. You need to come over."

"im sleeping over." she responded immediately, "Be there in 20."

"Okay!" i squeeled. it had been about 2 weeks. she had been busy with recording and miscellaneous collabs.

"See you in a bit, babe." she responded before hanging up.

i laid back on the couch and sighed contently. i took a mental step back to admire how my life had turned out. i was going on a date with Johnnie, whom I've liked since i first met him. Jake and Tara are my best friends, and they're just amazing overall. i felt cringe thinking all of this, but i knew it was true. i felt as if my life had become a cliche, which i had always dreamt about, but I never thought I'd feel this good.

Time had flew before i knew it. the aound of the front door opening tore me from my thoughts.

"hellooo?" Tara called out before walking into the living room. she smiled brightly and waved, her keys jingling in her hand. "Hey, pookie."

i smiled at the nickname. "Hi, sweetcheeks."

"So," she plopped down on the couch next to me, "fill me in."

i began explaining the incident with the robbery, showing her my healing stitches. i earned a few different gasps and faces from her. she knew i was living with jake and johnnie, but never knew the reason.

"no fucking way." she said as i concluded the first half.

"yes fucking way. scariest night of my life, and johnnie was there the whole time." i felt tears sting my eyes. i wasn't sure why. they weren't sad tears, but happy tears. i quickly blinked them away.

"Please tell me you guys are dating." she sighed, rolling her eyes.

"Well.." i smiled, "we're going on a date on Valentines Day."

"no fucking way!" she smiled, her hand flying over her mouth. "Is he taking you somewhere nice?" i shrugged in response. "Hold on."

i followed as she hiked up the stairs to Johnnies room, where he was trying to have a peaceful stream, and walked in.

"Are you taking y/n somewhere nice?" she questioned, basically scolding.

he rolled his eyes and turned his chair slightl1y to face the door. "Tara! im streaming!"

"i dont really care." she pursed her lips, "answer the question."

i leaned into the doorway, squinting to read the chat. everyone was spamming, asking who i was and all sorts of questions about me.

"Yeah, that's what i planned on." he flashed me a soft smile before shooing us away.

as we walked down the hall, tara grabbed my arm. "We're going dress shopping."

"i was planning on doing that," i rolled my eyes, "i just spaced it."

"get your shoes on." she grabbed her keys and purse off of the couch. "you should let me do your makeup for the date!" she squeeled.

i smiled, my bottom lip quivering from excitement. "i mean, sure."

we ran out to her car. she turned on her playlist. she has amazing music taste, by the way. we sang together before we arrived at the mall.

"So, what are we thinking?" i asked, "dress wise."

"Red, for sure." she smirked, "nothing cutsie. It's valentines day, you gotta get laid, and so does he."

"Oh my lord." i shook my head, "i highly doubt we'll go that far."

"Still, you have to look sexy. I'd be disappointed in myself if i let you go in, like, a light pink dress."

"Well, okay. whatever you say," i followed her into the first store.

we wandered around, targrting all of the red dresses. we settled on 3 different options: a sparkly slip dress, a slim fit dress with puffy sleeves, and a shorter dress with off the shoulder sleeves.

she shoved me into the dressing room. i tried each one, but the shorter dress with off the shoulder sleeves took the cake.

taras jaw dropped when she saw it. "That's the one. he will be drooling. fuck, even i am."

i bit my finger tip playfully. "Stop it,"

tara paid for the dress against my will since she had won the argument. we had to scurry out of the mall since it was late and closing soon.

"im going to get you so ready for this date, especially since its your first one." she began to list everything we should do in preparation as i grew more excited by the second.

we spent hours in the bathroom. we thoroughly washed my hair, making sure it was prepared enough to be (curled/straightened/done) well tomorrow. she cleaned up my eyebrows, as i hadn't done them in a hot minute, and they were starting to look kind of scary. i scrubbed and shaved everywhere, making sure my whole body was hairless. we ended the night with face masks and a movie, which was rudly interrupted by jake laying across the two of us on the couch.

"Big day tomorrow, huh?" jake teased, poking the sticky mask on my nose and wiping it on my arm.

"Get your fat ass off of me." i giggle, attempting to shove him off.

our date was at 7 pm. it was 6:45 pm whenever me and johnnie were walking out the door.

tara had done casual makeup with a touch of red eyeshadow to match my dress. whenever i had looked in the mirror, hair and makeup fully done, my own jaw dropped. of course, i had my own makeup and hair routine, but taras was flawless. i praised her endlessly, or at least until it was time for me and johnnie to leave.

i fidgeted with my fingers in the passenger seat, hoping and praying johnnie would say something first.

as if he could read my mind, he spoke up. "Happy valentines Day, y/n."

he wore a white button-up with black, unripped skinny jeans. the top two buttons were open, revealing some of his 'im not perfect' tattoo. "Happy valentines Day. you look great." My shaky voice responded.

he smiled. "Thanks, you look beautiful, as always." his eyes trailed over my makeup and hair before turning back to the road.

i blushed, turning my head to look out the window before humming a small thank you. our elbows were touching as we both rested our arms on the center console.

"Thank you for going out with me."

"what the fuck? why are you thanking me?" i laughed, looking back towards him.

he shrugged. "i just feel like i should."

"Well, dont." i patted his arm, "ive wanted to do this for a while."

"Me too." he agreed. silence filled the car again.

"This is my first date, by the way." i sighed, "in all honesty, im about to shit my pants. im so nervous."

his mouth twitched, his lips curving into a smile. "There's really nothing to be nervous about." he glanced over, his demeanor changing. i could feel how all of a sudden he got nervous as well.

he took my hand, intertwining his fingers with mine. "So, uh, what was the aftermath with tara and your stream?"

he smiled and shook his head. "Everyone refuses to believe im actually going on a date."

"thats fucking hilarious, no offense."

"i know. everyone wants me to reveal you, they want evidence." he trailed off.

"Do it. i dont mind at all." his hand squeezed mine tighter.

"i didn't think you'd want to be on the internet so soon." his eyebrows furrowed with worry. "Are you sure?"

"Absolutely. give me your phone." he did so, telling me his passcode.

i opened up instagram. at the stop light, i took a picture of us, our hands visible in the bottom of the photo. johnnie threw up a peace sign with his free hand and smiled softly. i smiled, too. i typed, 'Happy valentines Day 🖤', and tagged my instagram. i shut off his phone and handed it back to him, setting it in his lap. he quickly put it on, do not disturb.

we pulled into the parking lot and got out of the car. he had made reservations the day i agreed. we got in and sat quickly. johnnie admired me from across the table as i admired him.

a small smile formed on johnnies face. i smiled with my teeth, "what?"

he shook his head, "Nothing. what are you gonna order?"

"Oh, i dont even know. i haven't looked." i looked down at the menu, deciding on (your food of choice).

"that sounds good as fuck." he commented. "i think im just gonna do a chicken sandwhich."

"That also sounds good." i agreed.

"If you dont mind me asking, what are you looking for in a relationship? like, long term, or what?" he asked nervously, his eyes staring down at his hands as he twisted his rings anxiously.

"i do want a long-term relationship. I've never been one for occasional hook-ups or 2 week long talking stages. i wanna have a family in the future, too, because i know i can raise a child better than i was." i admitted.

"Me too. i talk to jake about wanting to have a family one day all the time." he finally made eye contact with me. "Honestly, I've never really met anyone like you."

before i could respond, the waiter came to take drink orders. we told him our choices, and he left quickly, beinging them only moments later.

"This place is really beautiful." i looked around. it barely looked like a restaurant with all of the fancy designs and decorations.

"i knew you'd like it, that's why i wanted to take you here." he smiled.

"i have a question." i turned back to him. "Why did you buy me that donut all those weeks back?"

"cause i thought you were really pretty. and you seemed stressed but you were so fucking nice to me." he smiled, and when i smiled back, his grew.

"i hope you know that meeting you really changed my life." i admitted, "i really had no one before you came along."

"You changed mine, too. i never knew i could like someone as much as i do you." his face flushed.

"You know, I've had a crush on you for a long time. It's silly." i looked away, avoiding eye contact.

"me too." he chuckled softly. "im glad you're here with me."

"Well, im glad you asked."

we spent the rest of the date sharing stories of the past and goals for the future. ultimately, however, we had to leave. with our leftovers in one hand, we walked out of the restaurant with our free hands tangled together.

the whole drive home, a comfortable silence filled the car. the radio was playing softly in the background as i felt sleepiness hit me like a truck.

he parked and turned to me. "wanna go out again sometime?"

"Obviously." i smiled.

Try Shit Tuesday (said in a british 'accent'). basically i will set aside time in the afternoon where i will announce i am doing Try Shit Tuesday, post the Wheel (bruh side note i have to fckn censor the wheel or it won't let me share it), and the first person to send me a screenshot of their spin will be the fic i work on. i will set a timer, work on it for a half-hour, and if i get in a groove i will finish and post, if not i'll post what i have from that half-hour and ask for feedback before i change it.

Wip Wednesday. i will post a poll on tuesday with links and snipped to wips (not sure if that one will apply on this blog or just my side blog, we'll see) and whatever one has the most votes on wednesday* i will write.

Skeleton Saturday. OKAY I WILL TRY MY BEST

gameplay/combat: 10/10 (for ME)

so it's not like wuwa or genshin where you do combo attacks and dodge and parry, and it's not turn based like hsr. it's called "tactical rpg" with real-time combat and ppl say it's similar to tower of defense (i have never played that tho so i don't really know)

basically, you get a team of 4 "echomancers" (the characters you pull for). you enter some battle ground and gotta protect this machinery. you station your echomancers in certain places. click "start" and then the battle starts. you can still move your characters around freely and click to do certain skills and ults. but it's REAL TIME, and not turn-based so the fighting is constant and a lil chaotic cuz it's not like

"enemy #1 attacks!" -> "echomancer #1 attacks!" -> "enemy #2 attacks!".

attacks are spamming every time sporadically so act fast and think strategically! the amount of times you can use skills are limited so be very smart on when to use them. tho characters do have their own automatic attacks with no limits. same with ults! there IS a pause button if it gets too overwhelming tho.

but yeah, it's not everyone's cup of tea, but i'm actually really enjoying it

THE STORY IS SO FUCKING GOOD. THE LORE IS AMAZING! I WON'T SPOIL THE STORY THO SO I'LL JUST FOCUS ON OTHER ASPECTS.

ash echoes has a 2D visual novel kinda story telling with some cutscenes added in??? idk how to describe it, i'm sorry 😅

basically, i mean that it's like left instead of right:

it's very still-ish and 2d and not as "lively". they still have different facial expressions, clothes, and stuff like that, but the characters aren't really moving their limbs, showing different body behavior, etc.

but because of how the story's shown, it's able to provide a LOT of artworks within the chapters like the ones i showed before:

anyway, about the plot...

it can get pretty damn dark and i LOVE it. one thing i noticed about wuwa/genshin/hsr is that they're not very dark and while that's fine for genshin and hsr, it's a huge let-down for wuwa cuz it's supposed to be post-apocalyptic 💀 but the story gets dark so fast in ash echoes. they don't shy with gory details (we get descriptions of mutilated corpses, human experimentation, serial murders, etc). we're actually SHOWN blood and it's not censored.

also it's still in the early stages (i think we're in 1.6) AND I'VE LEARNED SO MUCH ABOUT THE CHARACTERS THAT I'VE MET SO FAR. ash echoes is SO fucking good at writing their characters and their relationships with others. THE MC IS SO COMPELLING TOO! they actually have a personality 😭😭😭

honestly, this is what got me so sucked into the game. i came for the hot men, BUT THE STORY TELLING IS SO FUCKING BEAUTIFUL 😭😭😭😭 the characterization is MWAH 💋

also.... they're not afraid to kill characters. idk yet if any playable characters have died in the story (cuz i'm not that far rn), but they're not afraid to make you grow attached to a character only to give them a tragic end 😭💔

there are these things called "memory traces" and they're.... sorta kinda???? equivalent to "weapons/light cones" for genshin, wuwa, and hsr? anyway, these memory traces are basically artworks that when you upgrade and level up, provide attack/defense/etc bonuses:

(fun fact: ash echoes LOVES artists. memory traces always have different art styles cuz they hired multiple artists to make them and they're always credited too!)

is it f2p friendly? yes!

i have only been playing for a few days, not even a WEEK and here is what i have so far:

the blue vial thing is called x particles and they are the "astrites/primogems/stellar jades". and the golden card (aka resonance clue) are what you can get with them to pull for characters (so think tides/fates/star rail pass)

from what i read online, soft pity starts at 60 and hard pity hits at around 77-80. i already got 99 pulls from less than a week of playing PLUS the 77 additional pulls thanks to the gold card (resonance clue):

the red thing with a 10 is a resonance clue clutter. and basically, getting one of them allows you to pull for 10 characters automatically, and i can already get 9 of them:

they have a limited character banner, a limited memory trace banner, a standard character banner, and a standard memory trace banner. they also have TWO other standard banners but with a "rate-up" thing where a certain standard character gets a rate-up (aka, higher chance of getting them). i'm currently waiting for boreas to get his rate-up so i can pull for him 🙂‍↕️

also, one thing i really like about the banners is that if you pull on a character banner, you strictly only get characters and it's the same for memory traces. it's not like wuwa/genshin/hsr, where if you pull in a character banner you get: possibly a 5 star character, a 4 star character, and a bunch of weapons that are lowkey useless for you. in ash echoes, you pull on a character banner and you get 6 star character, a 5 star, and a bunch of 4 stars

character ratio: 10/10!!!!!

seriously, this game treats female players so well 😭

before, they were releasing back-to-back female character banners only and ppl were like "hey, don't do that :(" and the devs actually listened LMAO

so now they're releasing one female and one male per patch! HOWEVER.... because this game released in asia first, they're able to enjoy the better ratio. global released later so we're still behind, meaning we're currently still in the "back-to-back female phase". i think around... july??? we will finally get to the 1:1 ratio that the other servers are enjoying!

now.... my personal issues with it 😔

first up: stamina (or action points as they call it). almost everything requires action points. quests require action points, building characters require action points, even some side games require action points cuz you might need to level up some memory traces, etc. they give out a LOT of action point bonuses every day as rewards for daily stuff, but it runs out pretty fast.

if you're focusing solely on the story, then you can play for quite a while cuz story quests doesn't require that much action points (i think it's only 8????). but i just got a shit ton of new characters as rewards and i need to build a lot of them, but i'm only able to build MAYBE one character a day with the limited stamina i got 😔

2nd: lots of currency.........

i can't even talk about this in detail cuz i don't even remember HALF of the currency this game provides asefgaugv 😭😭😭😭 there's currency for pulling characters, currency for pulling memory traces, currency for getting tea time furniture, currency about kitty cards???? and idek what else 😭

3rd: it's overwhelming at first

it throws a lot at you (and i'm not talking about the story). again, can't even explain in detail cuz i'm still new at this and i have yet to understand all the other side stuff i can do 😭 there's just a lot and most require stamina, and since i'm focused on building rn, i can't even do them yet

4th: locked stories 💔 some stories are locked BUT i heard they were working to make them permanent later on 💖💖💖

5th: not really much of an issue, but i wish there was english voice acting 🙂‍↕️ it only has chinese and japanese voice acting and idk if they're gonna add more.

She sees me and we reflect on my life together and it makes Sense that the way I experience the world is Different so whenever we talk about something my mom doesn’t understand in relation to me her mind is so open because she knows my perception of the world is not the same as hers. neurodivergence isn’t entirely related to queerness but it has genuinely opened up so many doors for our communication. she goes aromantic? oh yeah that makes sense. I think she catalogs it with the autism which is correct because to me autism and Every Other Way I Experience The World is related. Okay here are some thoughts I've spammed to my friends in the last few days! (BTW I read the manga already for the first game so I basically spoiled it but I was still equally as shocked when these things happened in the game lol)

By the way, spoilers below for anyone who hasn't played!

General thoughts:

SORA IS SOOOOOOOOOO CUTE 🥺 The voice actor voiced him PERFECTLY, he's exactly the perfect combination of hopeful, friendship, little kid, strong heart, over confident at times, stubborn, sweet. 😭💖

Told a friend I love Sora in a different way than I love Gohan, here were my thoughts: Gohan is more quiet, sweet, gentle, burdened with a lot of power that he seems hesitant to use and slowly builds his confidence throughout the show, I relate to Gohan a lot, sweet cinnamon roll that must be protecc, but forced to protecc others, etc etc Sora is sweet and gentle but loud, has a HUGE heart and he uses it to protect his friends with 100% confidence (he's more like Goku in that way), his heart is just unwavering and he doesn't seem to doubt himself often (at least in KH1), funny and goofy and his stubbornness can get him into trouble sometimes but his bonds with his friends give him strength, I don't relate to him but I would love to draw inspiration from him

Riku is so insanely jealous of Sora it's hilarious, he's overall kind of a jerk and even Kairi said she wanted to leave the island without him, but also Riku is 15 and hormonal and Maleficent got to him so I don't really blame him for it

Donald and Goofy are way less annoying than I assumed they would be, I like that they seem refreshingly mature?? Donald is stubborn and beefs with Sora a lot and Goofy seems like he has a good head on his shoulders and is a deep thinker

Also I keep seeing memes of Donald constantly getting knocked out in game and being useless but for me Donald ALWAYS comes in clutch with the elixirs and ethers

That scene where Maleficent tells Riku that Sora replaced him and Kairi with Donald and Goofy was sad in both the manga and the game but what REALLY made my jaw drop was that SORA LOWKEY FELT THE SAME:

If Riku talked to Sora for more than 10 seconds at a time literally all of this would be resolved XD LIKE!! Sora is literally trying to find them! Riku please!

Hollow Bastion is a great OST and I've been listening to it on repeat. The map is also pretty nice but I wish I could explore more without heartless appearing every 5 seconds

Actually I also liked the OST "A Day in Agrabah"

I beat Riku's ass in 10 seconds and it was glorious (Ansem is a whole other story...still working on it)

DID I MENTION SORA HAS SUCH A KIND AND SWEET AND STRONG HEART!?

Every single cutscene had the words "light" "darkness" "friendship" "heart" "memories" repeated over and over again to form a cutscene (I saw this in a Youtube video and thought it was incredibly accurate XD)

My sister and I were CRACKING UP during this cutscene because it made NO SENSE

It just kept getting more and more non-sensical XD

I think Aladdin was my favourite world so far but tbh they were all pretty cool (Sora's Halloween Town fit was so cute! Also I loved flying around by Big Ben, and then getting the glide feature)

The Maleficent Dragon boss was really hard, cool, and fun; Tinker Bell really came in clutch

Also I gotta say this game is really hard to play because the control are so annoying, the jump function is annoying (I keep falling off and misjudging his jump), it keep glitching cause it's connected to the cloud or something, the directions are too vague so I have to follow a walkthrough while playing, and I have to keep stopping between plays because I get motion sickness from the wildly spinning camera really easily -- despite all that I am indeed having a blast

Little bittersweet that this might be Fig's swan song. There's like this "six seasons and a movie" mentality that makes me feel like Senior Year is the finish line, so just stick it out for one more. But, if creatively Emily doesn't feel like she can get any more out of the character, then that's that. It's best to move on rather than force it. Or not. It's the end of her time at Aguefort, doesn't mean it's the end of her time with the Bad Kids. The school part of these characters being high schoolers only really came into play this season, so let's wait and see. Emily considered retiring Fig at the start of this season and changed her mind. It could happen again.

On to the fun stuff:

-Gorgug didn't get a last hit on Porter, but he did get a clutch assist in with a narratively satisfying move that uses his Artificer class instead of his Barbarian class, helping drive the last nail in on Porters coffin. *chefs kiss* Going out of Rage while doing it was a perfect way to twist the knife.

-Riz's kill line on KP was stone cold.

-Everyone else's contributions were valuable but none more so than the newest Bad Kid, The Lava. Taking out five major threats during the battle. What a trooper and a strong candidate for Honor Roll.

-I came around on Mary Anne too. I get why some of the Intrepid Heroes were so obsessed with flipping her allegiances.

There's a lot this season that gives a strong finale vibe, but besides that hook at the end there's another thing that keeps going unresolved. Sol and his church keep fucking around and it's about damn time they find out. I don't think Senior Year will be a full-on religious crusade, but it doesn't feel like that plot point should be off the table. And what the fuck is Kalinas deal? So she was never loyal to Cass?

I hope we don't have to wait another 4 years for the next chapter of Fantasy High to get an answer to those questions.

Fig honestly would prob go to school more if she wasn't required to so it's absolutely an Emily decision more than it is a story decision. It's hard to picture FH without her but I'm sure she'll come up with something fun if she's still feeling like retiring Fig whenever they get around to Senior Year.

I think it's arguably MORE fitting that Gorgug didn't get the last hit in and instead got him with a gadget that didn't even do damage. It's like, he got Porter and not even in a way that Porter would respect because it wasn't rageful and violent. That's gotta suck more than if Gorgug had just punched him hard and KO'd him.

The lava was just so so good. It's like when you're a warlock and technically you could do other stuff but spamming Eldritch Blast just gets you the most bang for your buck so you keep doing it. Once they figured out the lava strat, they basically had to keep using it. Lava MVP for sure.

Mary Ann being so checked out for the whole evil plot even while participating in it is so funny. Honestly, queen shit.

I really think that if Kalina is actually bad then that's a retcon from Brennan because that's never been how familiars work and Kalina did try to help them consistently throughout the season with the Spy's Tongue Curse clue. She only attacked them when she got hit with a rage crystal and that was godly interference.

I agree that there are a lot of loose ends re: The Church of Sol (Buddy, Bobby and Sandra Lynn, Helio's lack of a chosen one, Bucky's whole deal, the Helioic pantheon shakeup--how crazy is it that Cass never talks to any of her celestial sibs?). I hope that if we explore that we get to see more about the actual people of the church rather than just the gods because there was a huge god focus in back to back seasons and, as I've mentioned before, if Spyre rules mean that gods are a reflection of their followers, their followers are honestly more interesting. I can't really be mad at Sol for being what he is when his chill level is determined by Bobby Dawn and co, you know? He has limited agency as an entity. Cut out the middle man and let's chase down Bobby directly.
