the loveliest part of olive-harvest season in Palestine is the exchange of olive oil between friends and family. this prized and hard-earned possession, born from generations of care, is such a labor of love that binds us to our land and to one another 🫒🧺🤎

Windfallswest over on AO3 linked this in the comments of The Olive Harvest, 2023 and I can't stop laughing. They called it the "mobile tree carwash" but I think of it as the TREE SNUGGLER.
[ID: A video set to music with narration about the machine being shown; it is a "high density olive harvester" which looks like a large tractor. The tractor is designed as a tall arch and rolls directly "over" the olive trees, pulling them gently into a carwash-like interior which shakes the olives free and collects them all at once. It also shows how the belts clean the olives and convey them to a hopper.]

I found a post about Palestine and olive trees about a week ago, this reminded me of it so I'm gonna post the text below.
This was posted on Facebook by Dima Seelawi on the 29th of October 2018, it just happened to find its way to my newsfeed:
"When I was young, I never really understood my parents insistence to only use olive oil imported from Palestine. It took a long time and a great distance in a process that was neither cheap nor convenient. The oil came in old beat-up containers that did not look appealing to me at all. In my head, if they wanted to support distant family back home, they could just send them money and save us and them a big hassle. We could just use the nice looking olive oil containers from the nearby store. Yet, this was never an option in our household. The only olive oil we used at home was from Palestine.
As I grew up and started a student part-time job, I worked with olive oil a little. I knew all about olive oil imported from Spain, Italy, and other countries. I knew which ones were better and more expensive. I also learned to tell, based on the pungent taste, which ones were extra virgin. I was tempted to use my employee discount to bring home one of the fancy bottles and use at our kitchen. I could not get myself to do it, and I did not exactly know why. I felt like it would be disrespectful to my parents even if it didn’t make sense to me. It did not feel right. It was not an option.
After living in Palestine for a year during the olive picking season, something changed. The olive picking season in Palestine is holy.
Palestinians relate to the weather based on how it would benefit or harm the olives. There is well-known unspoken rule about treating olive trees with respect. There is a day off from work just to pick olives. On public transportation, it is not unusual to hear someone on the phone telling their friend to stop by for their share of this year’s olive oil stored in what used to be a Coca-Cola or a liquor bottle. A driver will stop in the middle of the way to give his brother- in- law a jar of olives that are so close to one another that they start to crush showing their insides.
In Nablus, the owner of the Nabulsi soap factory takes pride in how picky he is about getting his olive oil. He insists on filling a cup to let me smell how authentic it is and smirks as he sees my diasporic facial expressions transform in appreciation of its strong smell running through all of my brain cells.
I started noticing how olive oil is an essential part of so many dishes. “Palestinians drink more olive oil than water” I would jokingly say and they would laugh in agreement. Olive oil is truly an everyday ritual.
They fantasize about its color when it’s fresh and remind me that it starts to change as it reacts with oxygen over time. They dip their bread into olive oil, just like that and without any additions, and enjoy it more than the sweetest of all foods. I can guarantee that every lunch invitation (عزومة) I received during the olive-picking season was a chance for my hosts to share their olive oil using Msakhan (a traditional Palestinian dish).
I now have a deeper understanding of the psychology behind the burning of olive trees by Israeli settlers and why farmers moan at the scene as if they lost a loved one.
Wherever you are, if it’s accessible to you, make sure your olive oil is Palestinian. Your ancestors would want that."
And this picture was attached:

Had a thought occur to me and it seemed like a fun idea for a poll.
If you were given a choice of which season to start playing a farm sim in, which yould you choose?
Spring? The traditional choice. Every game starts here. With mild weather, cheap but fast growing crops, and items to forage in abundance, it's a good place to start. You have a whole season to build up your funds and your stamina and prepare for the seasons to come. It gives you time to get your feet underneath you, explore the town, meet your neighbors, and maybe even afford some upgrades before the intensity of summer arrives.
Summer? You arrive to a wider selection of crops that are more time-intensive to grow, but also sell for a higher price. Not to mention the areas around your farm tend to be overflowing with the bounties of nature, which you can turn around for fast cash. You'll need it, as time may not be on your side this season. Half the season may pass before your first big harvest, and saving money would be difficult. Not to mention, there's the risk of hurricanes that could wipe everything you've worked so hard for off the map. But socially, your friendships can bloom quickly. With easy gifts to be found everywhere, you can quickly endear yourself to your neighbors.
Autumn? Often the most bountiful season, but also the most labor intensive. To get the most of the season, you have to be prepared to run before you walk. A beginner's low stamina may struggle to keep up with the demands of the farm if they hope to make enough money to spend through the winter. And the time demands of the farm may also cut into your time to meet locals and forge friendships. A boatload of money can be made off the few crops your beginning funds can purchase, along with taking advantage of the final bounties of nature for the season. But it can come at the cost of being a recluse, and going into winter practically a stranger to your neighbors.
Winter? Often it's a season in which nothing will grow, or there may be a few pricey crops that can be planted. But this season is usually marked with an abundance of free time. A season of rest and recovery and preparation Making money is difficult, with few things to forage, and going into the mines or collecting material resources will not be very easy with no stamina built up over the year. But careful planning can get you far. You can take the time to clear your fields, delve into the mines for ores to sell, start buying livestock, and spend every day making friends with the townsfolk. It would be a much slower start to your farming endeavors, but can also leave you set up to hit the ground running when spring arrives. Watch out for blizzards erasing all your hard work, though.

cringe brainrot cod thought but Alien!au Simon Riley where he's a retired veteran who takes on a job of being freelance security which means accompanying a collection of scientists led but some capitalist billionaire onto an non-domesticated planet where they all inevitably get picked off one by one until he's the only one left to find their murderer is an alien gal who wants to be left the FUCK alone on her planet. Builds a little hut deep in the forest and learns if he leaves her alone she'll leave his alone on separate sides of the world- eventually they fuck idk what to tell you.

Why are modern farming games getting rid of festivals?
The latest story of seasons, Pioneers of Olive Town (I'm not including the remakes cause they're remakes. Also Friends of Mineral Town actually has festivals), Stardew Valley and Coral Island have two festivals per season. It's ridiculous. I don't have Winds of Anthos but I hear it only has four total
I liked the festivals. I wanna see more festivals.
I'm using Back to Nature as my baseline cause it was my first. But they fit in about 18 festivals. And about 8 of them were romantic in nature or at least involved some kind of couple activity
Which brings me to my next point. Where are the romantic festivals? Half of the Olive Town festivals have you doing something with your partner so fine but last I checked Stardew Valley just has the dance. And I haven't seen the last festival in Coral Island yet but so far none of them have involved dates.
I'm referring to BtN again but give us the Spring Harmony Festival! I don't care if you call it Valentine's Day I want a day to give out chocolate. The Starry Night festival. Moon viewing.
Is it because festivals that just involve dialouge are considered boring now? There has to be some kind of mini game attached? I don't know I'm just spitballing. I'm loving Coral Island but the festivals don't all need minigames
I loved the goddess festival in BtN. I loved seeing them in their pretty dresses and then going out on a date afterwards. I loved it in the girl version where I actually got to dance with them (also off topic but Gotz giving you his wife's dress was the sweetest scene and I really wish I still had my psp so I could see it again).
Rune Factory 5 has it's problems but it still manages to have a good mix of activity and dialouge festivals with about 22 or so in total
Sorry, I'm all over the place.
Point is, I want more festivals in farming games. And I want more romantic festivals

Hair CC Update
All my previously uploaded hair CC (up to Apr 28,2023) have been updated!
The update is for reorganization in CAS and I also make sure that every hair has been disabled for random. Now, the hair has been sorted from their type, such as TS2 hair conversions, my own cc, Dreamlight Valley conversions, etc, so they would be easier to find in CAS.
You can use this link if you want to download them separately (like usual)
Alternatively, you can also batch download them from this google drive folder.
Read my Terms of Use before downloading!

Me: I would love to live in the Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons universe.
Person Who I Made Up For This Post: Oh yeah! Harvest Sprites and magic, right!?
Me: No, I want to have food that isn't controlled by my government because even if I grow my own food here in the real world and run a farm, the government can and will put their dirty paws in it and if it isn't the government it's Big Agriculture goons who bully smalltime farmers. Those issues aren't really a thing in Harvest Moon and when they are, they're really not. I wish for the fantasies of freedom.
