How curious that in this scene, towards the end of 'Groundhog Day' (1993), a portrait of Harry “Sundance Kid” Longabaugh with his wife Etta Place (from January 1901) appears in the background. Did the film's art director know about it? An 'easter egg' perhaps?

Can’t believe I only just now thought of giving The Sundown Kid his “real name” based around his namesake, The Sundance Kid (whose real name was Harry Alonzo Longabaugh). I’m ok with that because it feels somewhat canonical in the sense that I’m drawing from the same source. I would probably just want to slightly change his last name, but imagine if Sundown was just named Harry. Somehow it feels right to me.
Now Mad Dog I’m less sure about…according to his fandom wiki he is presumably based on The Man in Black from the Dollars Trilogy (Douglas Mortimer), but that’s not his namesake. Oh but they even use the same gun, the buntline special! Douglas Mortimer, or a variation, isn’t a bad idea for Mad Dog’s name.
Lots to consider…
#Live a live#I might update this if I come up with suitable last names for them#I like the names and I like being able to base it on aspects of their characters already based on other things#I would not feel confident enough just naming them on my own#so I like this haha#the sundown kid#mad dog

Where in the United States can the childhood home of Butch Cassidy be found?
Robert Leroy Parker (1866-1908) grew up on a small ranch near Circleville, Utah. He left home in his teens and worked as a farmhand on ranches and dairy farms. While working on one farm, he met a cattle rustler named Mike Cassidy and began using Cassidy as his own surname. Later, while apprenticing as a butcher, he acquired the nickname “Butch,” and went by the name Butch Cassidy for the rest of his life.
Butch Cassidy's childhood home was a very modest one-room wooden cabin, with only room for a single bed, a table and some chairs. The property also had a small wooden barn and a decent amount of farmland. Cassidy was the eldest of 13 children, six of whom were brought up in this house before their parents moved to larger accommodation elsewhere.
Throughout his life, Cassidy engaged in criminal activity with his accomplice Harry Longabaugh, known as the "Sundance Kid". After law enforcement forced them to flee the country, they travelled to Argentina and then to Bolivia, where Cassidy is believed to have been killed in a shootout with the Bolivian Army in November 1908.

Butch Cassidy: Is that what you call giving cover? Sundance Kid: Is that what you call running? If I knew you were going to stroll...
Robert Redford as The Sundance Kid in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Brilliant film with some very funny lines between the two stars.
The premiere of the movie was on 23 September 1969.
The closing shoot-out in the movie was filmed in Tlayacapan, Mexico standing in for Bolivia.

While we were trying to prepare for the spookiest night of the season, we got so distracted talking about Butch Cassidy, Batman, and magic. Hopefully said magic works out because we didn't get costumes for next week!

𝑩𝒖𝒕𝒄𝒉 𝑪𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝑲𝒊𝒅 is a 1969 American Western film directed by George Roy Hill and written by William Goldman.
Based loosely on fact, the film tells the story of Wild West outlaws Robert LeRoy Parker, known as Butch Cassidy (Paul Newman), and his partner Harry Longabaugh, the "Sundance Kid" (Robert Redford), who are on the run from a crack US posse after a string of train robberies. The pair and Sundance's lover, Etta Place (Katharine Ross), flee to Bolivia to escape the posse.
