Recently watched: bizarre 1994 comedy Cabin Boy. I’ve always loved Chris Elliott’s anarchic appearances on the golden age of Late Night with David Letterman (thankfully they’re preserved on YouTube) and was curious to see his one big stab at movie stardom Cabin Boy. Last night when I was crashed out on the sofa flipping through TV stations, I found that it was playing! I liked Cabin Boy’s freewheeling kitschy Pee-wee Herman vibes (Tim Burton produced it). I know Cabin Boy flopped at the time, but maybe it’s due for potential cult movie reappraisal? Anyway, I didn’t manage to finish it (it was late at night by time I started watching) but I did see the guest star appearance by the fabulous Ann Magnuson as alluring six-armed, blue-skinned temptress Calli (pictured).

The Abyss will be released on 4K Ultra HD (with Blu-ray and Digital) on March 12 via 20th Century Studios. It will also play theaters for one night only on December 6 before hitting Digital on December 12.

Written and directed by James Cameron, the 1989 science fiction film stars Ed Harris, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, and Michael Biehn. It won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.

The Abyss has been newly remastered in 4K, supervised by Cameron, with Dolby Vision HDR as well as Dolby Atmos and 2.0 DTS-HDMA sound. Both the theatrical cut and the special edition is included. Special features are listed below.

I decided to rewatch this Tv Sitcom next because I loved it, and thought it was so funny, many years ago! Don’t know if I will feel the same about it this time around, but I shall see.
