Too soon to say it
Harrison Osterfield x Reader
Request by the wonderful @fanficparker
My requests are always open❤️

“Come on, it’s not that simple!” You shake your head, taking another handful of popcorn from the bowl between you and Harrison.
The two of you were in the middle of a video game night and were taking a break from your second round of Mario Kart. And the prospect of you moving away had just become the topic of conversation.
“Why would things have to change? We’re best friends!” He exclaims like a child, typical to fashion.
“I’m going to be in another country, you’ll be busy with work - I’m just saying things are likely to change,” You defend, trying to brush off the conversation topic quickly.
Harrison’s face falls as he pulls away the popcorn bowl before you can take some more, “You seriously think things aren’t going to be the same?”
When you look at his face, it pains you to be leaving him. The two of you had been best friends since your parents first taught you what a friend was. You’d been inseparable - closer than your parents and families ever expected from the two of you. You just fit together. And it grew and grew, from going to the same school, living on the same street, sneaking out to the same parties, and now living in the same London flat.
“Haz, we spend every day together here,” You explain, “I’m just saying it will be different because we won’t be living together, spending every waking moment with each other.”
“I have other friends,” He points out with a boyish pout.
“I’m just saying I won’t be living with you and it won’t be exactly the same, I’m not saying we’re just going to stop speaking to each other.”
He eyes you suspiciously and sets down the bowl once again, “If I win the next race, you have to stay!”

“Harrison, have you seen my big suitcase?” You push yourself up from the ground as you’d been busy rummaging through your wardrobe to find it.
Today was the day you’d decided to first start packing as, three days from today, you were on your way to Spain for a year of teaching out there. It was something you’d wanted to do from when you were young. When the opportunity arose, not one part of you wanted to say no.
“I thought I’d left it in the bottom of my wardrobe but I-“ You start to explain to your roommate as you walk into the lounge.
There, in the middle of the floor, is the trusty suitcase that you’d been searching for. Though it’s misshapen and open with Harrison’s attempt to climb inside and zip himself in.
“Are you kidding?” You laugh, trying to shift the zip to expose him.
“I told you I could come with you!” He yells back from inside, his voice muffled by his contorted shape.
You’d dread to think how much effort he’d put into this, “And I told you that you could come if you bought your own damn seat on the plane. Get out of here, you div!”
“Okay, okay, okay,” He replies, “Get me out, it’s really hot in here!”
“Haz stop moving! The zip’s stuck!” You can’t help the exclamatory laugh that escapes your lips, “What the fuck have you done?!”
“Oh my god (Y/n) get me out!” The fear is seeping into his tone as he starts to wiggle around in the cramped space.
It takes a lot of yelling and too much stress but, eventually, he’s freed.
“You see what I’d do to keep you?” He comments, pulling his knees to his chest as he still stays seated in the case.
“Come on man, you’ll make me feel bad,” You sigh, “I’m only a few hours away.”
“But here, you’re a few steps away,” He comments, glancing between your retrospective rooms, “I don’t know, it’s going to be weird here without you.”
“It’s only a year, and you can still come and visit, I’ll come back for Christmas,” You remind him, the comments you’d already made a hundred times.
“I know, I know,” He assures you, reaching out his arm, “I’ve just never been without you.”
You blush a little and lean into his embrace, letting his arms wrap around you.
“Ew, God! Harrison you’re sweating!” You exclaim, pulling away from him.
“I told you - I was burning alive in there!”
“Get out of my suitcase then!”
- - - - - -
“How are you going to live without her, man?” Harry shakes his head, “I give it five weeks before this flat has gone to shit.”
“Five weeks? You’re being generous!” His older brother, Tom, scoffs as he hands a beer to his brother.
You and Harrison had organised a going away party at the flat for the night that was two days before you left. Giving you your last day to be just for you and Harrison - to prepare him to live without you at least.
“Let’s just say FaceTime will definitely be useful,” You nudge at Harrison’s side.
He didn’t seem much like himself tonight but you didn’t want to mention anything with all of your company around.
“Are you excited to leave, (Y/n)?” Harry asks, smiling in your direction.
“Nervous, worried, terrified,” You nod, “But definitely excited!”
You notice Harrison looking at you from the corner of your eye, his gaze not faltering. It’s deep and focused, like he’s clinging onto every last word you said.
The conversation flows from there on out but Harrison still manages to keep his eyes set on you with certainty that they wouldn’t lose you - in more ways than one.
- - - - - -
“Fancy sleeping in my bed tonight?” Harrison suggests as you’re both getting ready for bed, the apartment now semi-clean in the aftermath of the party.
“Sure, I’ll grab my duvet,” You smile and he heads out of the bathroom.
It wasn’t irregular for the two of you to share a bed, despite having your own rooms. You’d always grab both duvets and pool them into one bed for what Harrison called ‘optimum comfort’. Those were the nights where you’d sit and chat for hours and tell him a deep secret you were yet to expose. Or he’d confess to you that he’d got an audition coming up that he hadn’t mentioned. Or that he wasn’t ready for what life was throwing him.
“Thanks for tonight, it was lovely having everyone here,” You smile, “And you managed to invite everyone!”
Harrison smirks as he pulls back the covers of the bedspread, “I’m getting better.”
“Were you okay, though?” You bring it up eventually, “You just seemed a little quiet.”
He climbs into the bed and snuggles into his half, “Just feels strange that you’re leaving in like a day.”
You smile a little and climb in beside him, “We’ll be okay, Harrison? I’m not going to move to Spain and act like I’m living a new life.”
“I know, I know,” He shakes his head, “And I’m so happy for you, (Y/n), honestly.”
You smile a little at him and let the conversation fall silent. There was still something he wasn’t telling you.
“I’m so scared, H.”
The statement makes him bolt upright like a sudden danger had sprung upon you, “What do you mean?”
“I’m moving away from everything, what if I hate it? What if I’m a really shit teacher? Or I just don’t fit in with anyone there?” You ponder, “I’ve been waiting for this like it was all going to just be easy. But it’s probably the scariest thing I’ve ever done.”
“Hey,” He starts, “I think it’s impossible for you to be shit at anything - and you’re a people person with literally anyone, you’re practically fluent in Spanish more than English now, and it’s all just going to fall into place. It always does.”
You snuggle into him and wrap your arms around his torso, “It’s just a big move.”
“Of course it is, but don’t you remember telling me this plan when we were like ten years old?”
You chuckle, “We were sat in that fort we’d made in your garden.”
“And you told me that you’d already planned it, though you didn’t really know much more of what you wanted to do.”
“And you told me you wanted to be the next Leo DiCaprio,” You respond, glancing up at him with a smile.
“I’m getting there,” He wiggles his brows, “I promised you I’d thank you when I won an Oscar.”
You laugh, “Your Mum used to get so fed up when we ended up falling asleep out there. It used to get so cold!”
He smiles and holds you a little bit tighter, pulling up the duvets until they’re up to your chins. It feels like you could stay here forever.
“Well, we still have one full day,” He points out, running a hand through your hair.
“What do you fancy doing?” You ask quietly, fatigue taking over now you were wrapped in Harrison’s arms.
He pauses to think of any valid answer but his pause is just long enough to mean that you’re already falling into a slumber in his arms. When Harrison looks down at you, it’s like his whole world is wrapped up in this bed you’d struggled to put together when you first moved in. He lets your even breaths take hold of his thoughts as he circles through the motions of realisation that always occurred when he was this close to you. At what moment did he fall in love with his best friend? At what point did that ‘other half’ manage to grab a hold of his heart? And would he really let her leave without confessing that? It tugs at his heart to think of a day, a week, a month, a year, without her. But it makes things even worse that she’d been leaving with the lie he’d upheld since he first realised that his heart fluttered when she was near. And that didn’t happen with ‘just friends’. It’s not like Harrison when he feels a tear spill onto his cheek and trickle down the length of his face.
“God, you’ll be the death of me,” He mutters into the silent room, swiping at his face to stop any more tears.
- - - - - -
Your last day at home goes all too quickly, you run through everything with Harrison to make sure he was all set up for running the flat on his own. You check your packing once, twice, three times, before settling on the fact that you’d buy anything you’d forgotten once you were out there. You get your passport and your other essentials ready for the early morning. And just like that, the only thing left is leaving.
You find yourself sat out on the small balcony that came with this apartment, overlooking the typical city streets of London. It feels overwhelming to leave a place like this behind. You’d never been apart from home. First, it was your family, then it was Harrison. Wherever you went, there was a piece of home with you. You’d never really had that experience of being separate from it. Maybe you’d meet somebody out there that would become another piece of that home. But the prospect of a love interest was still yet to become of interest to you. You had everything you needed. Plus, Harrison was always hard to explain to any prospective love interests.
“Am I interrupting?” Harrison asks cautiously as he steps through the window and out onto the balcony, “You looked a little lonely.”
“Just thinking,” You give him a warm smile as he comes to stand beside you on the terrace.
He hums in response and let’s the silence engulf all of you once more. His lungs are screaming for him to say a thousand words with the breath they hold, his heart is yearning to stop feeling so tight at the thought of you. His head feels weak at the thought of processing one day without you.
I love you. Not in the way we’ve been saying since we were little. Not the ‘love you’ or the ‘love ya’. It’s I love you. Simple. Is it? I don’t know where it started, what caused it, why I can’t change it. But it’s consuming, heavy, crazy. It’s in every action you do, every word, every gesture, every expression. Living a life without you would be hell. But living a life where you’re always just my friend? That feels like a punishment that no religion could conceive the thought of.
“Haz...” Your voice is what snaps him from his thoughts.
It’s only then that he feels the tears pricking his skin, slipping down his cheeks.
“Shit,” He mutters, “It must just be the cold.”
The beaming sun outside and the T-shirt adorning his skin tells you otherwise.
“You know if you start crying, I always cry,” You chuckle, outstretching your arms and pulling him to your chest.
Harrison doesn’t speak and it scares you that he’s not the one comforting you - was he really not going to be okay without you?
“I’m just thinking about all of the Spanish boys you’re going to fall in love with,” He jokes, “And you’ll forget all about that pale boy from home.”
“Come on, if they love me, they have to love my pale boy,” You chuckle, “You’re my best friend!”
The statement makes him wrap his arms around you a little tighter. Not for the reason you thought - for the fact that you weren’t going to leave him. But for the fact that that’s all he ever would be. The name ‘best friend’ that always held so much weight had now become completely hopeless. It pained him that he could no longer accept that.
- - - - - -
You were on the phone to your parents when Harrison first started trying to write down everything his brain had been aching for him to say. It felt like it would give some sort of relief.
Dear To (Y/n), Squidge, My Love, Div, and all the other names that this twenty something years has given you.
We’ve been over this a thousand times, how you’re leaving me, how I’ll live alone, how Tom will get sick of me in the end. We’ve talked about it for hours because I started thinking that talking about things would make it easier. Make it easier to say goodbye to you.
It’s silly really - you’ll be back eventually. Whether that’s in a year, or two or three. You’ll be back. But I think it’s the fear of me realising that things are getting too late for anything to change. That somebody else could take my place could give you what I want to. you’ll leave and I’ll lose my chance of admitting anything real to you.
The truth is, for the past, well I don’t know how long, I’ve fallen in love with you. It wasn’t like I realised one thing one day and watched it develop. It’s like one morning I woke up and suddenly noticed it all. I noticed every single piece of you that ignites every single piece of me. I noticed who I am around you and how much I adore who you are around me. And, within that one day, it became blaringly obvious that things weren’t the same anymore.
I can tell you which exact day it was. It was not long after we’d moved in here. In June. We had a day at home where you decided to start decorating the lounge. You’d bought all of this new stuff that you’d been eyeing up for months. And it was all spread out on the floor. You were in this pair of grey joggers and a top you’d planned on wearing to the gym - although you never did get that membership. There was no particular thing that drew me to you. It was everything. It was the way you slipped in the kitchen in your socks as you tried to make a fancy lunch. The way you laughed and rolled your eyes when I failed to set up the coffee table. It was all of these parts of you that I’d never noticed enough.
He’s just starting to choke up when you say goodbye to your parents and he quickly folds up the page.
“Hey, we should probably start getting ready to go,” You lean against the doorframe and fold your arms.
Harrison glances up and nods, “Yeah, I’ll just sort myself out and we can go.”
You had it all planned. Sort out your final things, leave a little present on Harrison’s bed for when he got back from the airport, get to the airport with enough time to check in, and then you’d be gone.
- - - - - -
“Okay, is my passport in there?” You ask Harrison as the two of you are now parked in the airport carpark.
He’s in the back of the car rummaging through your carry on bag to check you’ve got everything in the right place.
“Yep,” He responds, “You’ve got your phone, laptop, purse, earphones...”
Harrison trails off as he slips the letter between the fold of your laptop - part of him hoping you’d somehow see it before you got on the plane. The rest of him hoping you’d never open that.
“Alright, then, we’re ready.”
- - - - - -
You’re just about to walk through to security when you and Harrison realise this will be goodbye. You want to take in every feature of his face. You wanted to memorise the way his eyes move when he smiles, the way his head tilts back when he laughs, the way his hair moves when he shakes his head. You wanted to memorise all of the features that made him your best friend, practically your other half.
“Alright, I think this is it,” You begin, looking at him a little hopelessly - knowing there was nothing you could say that would tell him how much you’d miss him, “I’m gonna miss you man.”
He smiles a little but it doesn’t meet his eyes, “Yeah, you could say that.”
“You’re all ready for the bills and stuff, and I’m sure Tom will be staying more often than not,” You assure him, “If there’s any complication with the rent or bills or anything, just let me know, okay?”
“(Y/n), we’ve been through the logistics!” He squeezes your hand, “I’ll be fine.”
You sigh and wrap your arms around him tightly, taking in his scent that always laced his clothes, “Thank you for everything Harrison.”
He pulls away gently and looks at you with complete focus, “Okay, there’s something I need to stay because, if I don’t, I’ll spend every day thinking that I should’ve done.”
You frown a little and take a step back.
He lets out a shaky breath, “God, I don’t know where to start. Okay, here goes nothing.”
“Harrison, you’re scaring me. What’s going on?”
“I love you (Y/n). I love you with every single fibre of my body, every single piece of my heart. And I know that I shouldn’t feel like that. I’m not supposed to. You’re supposed to be the one girl that I wouldn’t fall in love with - the one girl. And I couldn’t do it,” He shrugs as tears start building up to blur his vision, “I know this is the worst time and I know that it’s-“
“Haz, what are you doing?”
He stops dead, lips parting slightly.
“I need to catch my flight, I don’t know what you want me to say... I...” You stumble, heart beating way too fast in your chest, “I can’t do this.”
“(Y/n), please,” He croaks out, hand reaching for you.
“You want this to be how I leave?” You pull away from him, “Harrison this changes everything!”
“I know, I know,” He nods, “But it’s consuming (Y/n/n). It’s killing me everyday that I’m not telling you that I love you. It’s killing me every time I convince myself that we should just be friends.”
You’re trembling as he talks - the panic of not knowing how to respond starting to trickle through your veins.
“You’re the only woman I’ll ever feel that way about.”
“Don’t say that,” You shake your head, “What do you expect me to say? Is this how badly you want me to stay?”
“No! God no!” Harrison tries to grip onto your hand again, “I just needed you to know.”
“I can’t do this Harrison, this changes everything.”
“No, no, it doesn’t have to change anything. I just-“ He stops, “There’s no way you could feel the same?”
You look at how helpless he looks and it breaks your heart into unfixable pieces, “I don’t know if I can give you an answer to that H. I didnt expect any of this.”
That’s when there’s a call for your flight. Perfect timing.
“I don’t need an answer. But if, or when, you find out how you feel, I’ll be waiting here (Y/n). I’ll always be waiting.”
With one last look at the possibility he’d left you, you pick up your bag and walk away - tears streaming down your face for a reason you’d never expected. You don’t have to look back to know he’s still stood there. And you don’t want to look back. You just let him leave you with those words.
I’ll always be waiting.

Tumblr media
“Love, you alright?” Harrison whispered in your ear, eyes briefly leaving the screen in front of you. You always had troubles sitting still, especially for long periods of time. Harrison had become slightly aware of it, noticing that you had shifted away from him multiple times. Most of the time you didn’t notice it, especially if you had something to focus on, like the movie in front of you, but today you were hyper-aware of it. You and Harrison had only been dating for a few weeks, and you were worried that your constant fidgeting was annoying him. You had had plenty of people complain to you about your habits, and it always upset you although you played it cool and apologized. Harrison was the last person you wanted to judge you, and you definitely didn’t want to scare him away.
You told him everything was fine, and he returned his gaze to the movie. He didn’t fully believe you, but he wasn’t going to pester. As you sat next to him, you tried to keep your entire body still. You tried not to readjust your position, you tried not to bounce your leg, and you tried not to fidget with your hands. At first, you were able to keep it down, but the more you focused on every move of your body, the less you could focus on the movie, and the higher your anxiety level rose. It was hard to focus so intensely on yourself, and you eventually had to excuse yourself to the bathroom so you could clear your self-conscious mind.
You stood in front of the mirror for a good few minutes and took some deep breaths, trying your best to clear your head. Eventually, you felt secure enough to walk back out and join Harrison on the couch, but to your disappointment, he had paused the movie and was waiting for your return.
“Are you sure everything’s alright?” he asked again, this time the concern couldn’t be hidden in his voice.
“Yeah, everything’s fine,” you smiled, returning to your spot, right next to him.
“Are you sure?”
“Let’s just watch the movie Haz.”
He studied your face, your smile never faltering, so he slung his arm around your shoulder and pulled you close, pressing a kiss to your temple before grabbing the remote to play the movie. Now that his arm was tightly holding your shoulder, you were even more self conscious of the movements. Your finger was instinctively tracing patterns into the couch and you were wiggling your toes rapidly. Those were the only two things you thought he wouldn’t notice, and at first, he didn’t, but he could eventually feel your arm constantly shifting under his hand. He peeked down at your face, and you didn’t notice, you were too focused on your every breath, your every move, your every thought echoing inside your head. He could see the distant look in your eyes, and he sighed and paused the movie again.
“Are you upset with me?” he asked, clearly distraught.
“What? No, why would you think that?”
“I can tell something’s wrong. Why else wouldn’t you tell me?”
“Haz, I’m not mad at you, please don’t worry about it,” you pleaded, a blush crossing your cheeks.
“Please, talk to me. You’re making me nervous.”
“Harrison-“
“I’m not an idiot. I know something is wrong. You know you can talk to me about anything.”
After careful deliberation, you looked down and started twirling your fingers around one another.
“It’s stupid,” you muttered, obviously frustrated with yourself.
“It can’t be stupid if it’s enough to upset you.”
You took a deep breath, but kept your eyes on your lap. “I don’t wanna annoy you.”
“What was that?”
“I said I don’t want to annoy you.”
“And why would you annoy me?”
“Because, I can’t just fucking sit still. And I know it’s so obnoxious, and I don’t want you to fucking dump me because I can’t stay still for more than five seconds.”
“Hey, woah, calm down. I have no idea what you mean, Angel. I haven’t noticed any of that.”
“Because I spend all of my energy trying not to move while I’m next to you. It’s fucking exhausting.”
“Then stop trying, Love. I think I can handle that,” he chuckled, but you were still upset. A tear came to you eye, you just couldn’t help but feel humiliated.
“Love, why are you crying?” he asked, quickly bringing a hand up to wipe your tear and pull you closer.
“I just really don’t want you to hate me.”
“Love, don’t take this the wrong way, but you’re being ridiculous. I could never hate you over something so small. It would take so much more to scare me off. And I can assure you that if it did annoy me, I would communicate that. That isn’t something you need to worry your cute little head about.”
“Promise?”
“Pinky promise,” he smiled, holding out his pinky to link with yours.
“Are we ok to finish the movie?” he asked tentatively, obviously willing to hit the brakes if you wanted to. You shyly nodded at him and snuggled back into his side.
You spent the rest of the movie trying not to think too much about how you were moving. You would readjust your body every 20 minutes, and with each position, you would trace shapes onto another one of Harrison’s body parts. You started with his hands, then his legs, then his chest. He glanced down at you each time and soaked in your intent expression. You were very focused on the movie now, and it made his heart happy that you were finally comfortable next to him. And he wasn’t going to lie, he loved the domestic attention that he was receiving from you. There was nothing inherently romantic about it, but it made his heart melt more than any other time he had spent with you. As you traced words across his chest, you both realized that this was exactly where you were supposed to be. Right next to each other for the rest of time.

But can I get a little jealous Haz? Like they all go out to a pub and the boys keep complimenting and dancing with her and though they are just being friendly, Haz gets jealous? 🤔
You were having the time of your life on the dancefloor. The music was deafening, it was hot and sweaty and you had enough alcohol in your system to not give a fuck but in a sensible and safe way.
In the corner, in a booth, were your friends. All their eyes glued to you. For multiple reasons. 1) they wanted to look out for you and make sure you weren’t getting dragged away into the dumpster outback and 2) they were all hardcore crushing on you and simply couldn’t pull their eyes away from you.
It was hard for them. Both Tom and Harrison adored you and didn’t know what to do about it. It was taking more time than it should have, for one of them to step their game out and actually ask you out. In fact, they were so far behind you didn’t even realise either of their feelings for you.
But the reason they didn’t do anything was the same for both of them. They were scared. Scared of rejection from you and scared of what that might do to your and their friendship. It was a total mess.
But this night, for some strange reason, was different. It might have been the alcohol, or the fact that you looked so incredibly gorgeous dancing out there, but they weren’t scared anymore.
Tom was the first to leave their booth, with the excuse of getting another drink. Not great considering he still had half a pint left untouched. Harrison quickly realized what his best friend was up to and this really got his heart pumping with panic. He couldn’t let this happen. Of course he wanted his friend to be happy but... he loved her. He couldn’t let that slip through his fingers. Not like this.
So, he got up and made his way over to you. Tom was nowhere to be seen but Harrison wasn’t going to take any chances. He walked up to you and tapped your shoulder. Slightly alarmed, you turned around but smiled when you saw your favorite blondie.
The music was too loud for you to hear what he was saying. Words here and there slipped through but it made no sense. If only you could have heard him spill his heart out on the dance floor.
Then, just like in all those movies you made him watch when you weren’t filling well, the beat dropped for just long enough for you to hear him yell out.
“I LOVE YOU Y/N”
Except, unlike those movies, nobody really noticed. The music just kept playing and everyone around you kept dancing without batting a second look on Harrison. Everyone besides you. You stopped moving and looked him deep in the eyes, not believing what he said.
Then, Tom showed up, indeed with a drink. He looked at you, then at Harrison, then back at you, and smiled.
He leaned in and yelled just hard enough for you to hear, “KISS HER YOU FOOL” and so the fool did. Harrison grabbed you by the hip and pulled you closer, clashing your lips together. It was messy and both of you tasted like beer but neither of you cared. It still felt magical.
So magical that you didn’t notice Tom sighing from relief, finally being free of this torture. He made a mental note to himself to cuss out Harry for thinking of this dumb  ass idea. Of course, pretending to have a mutual crush on y/n to make Harrison jealous and therefore help him realise his feelings for her sooner, was brilliant but it took so damn long.
So, as your kiss continued. Tom tightened the grip on his drink and disappeared into the deep wilderness of the dance floor.

Faking, Falling > Part 10
Harrison Osterfield x Reader (Fake dating! Unrequited love switcheroo!)
Word count: ~2.85 k words
Warning: None.
Summary: A real date, what say?
<< PART 9 [ MASTERLIST ] PART 11 >>
Tumblr media
You were moving some of your daily use stuff from your suitcase to the cupboard when you heard Harrison groaning behind you. You turned to face him. He was shifting in the bed. He kicked the covers off his body with his feet while his eyes were still closed. He groggily smashed the pillow over his head to cover his ears. He must have been bothered by the mild screeching sounds that the cupboard door was making. You giggled at the sight.
He heard your giggles. He shifted in the bed again and threw the pillow to the other side. He sat up with a little pout on his face just like a child who was forcefully been woken up from his sleep to go to school. He lazily rubbed his eyes with the back of his hands. You were still standing there watching him from the corner. And slowly you realised maybe his appearance was not exactly cute... Sandy blonde curls scattered all over his forehead and in all other directions. His face was a bit flushed and his chiselled naked torso was shining because of the scorching rays of the sun that had made their way inside your room. His trousers were hanging low on his waist and you could read Calvin---
"What time is it?" You heard him say. His voice was hoarse and you could feel the vibrations reverberating in your stomach as if his appearance wasn't enough. Your cheeks and ears felt like burning. You cleared your throat looking at him, he was stretching his arms over his head, yawning.
"Around half-past one, I guess," You said and he jerked up his head at your words, arms paused in mid-air.
"What??!!" He almost shouted in shock. His hands haphazardly searched for his phone on the side table (almost dropping it in the process). He checked the time himself.
01:26 pm
"Fuck!" He muttered under his breath. "Why didn't you wake me up?" He seemed offended.
"You had a rough night. It didn't seem right to wake you up early." You answered honestly.
"Oh god. What will your parents think of me?!" He complained, throwing his head backwards.
"That you were tired."
You could sense him thinking for a few seconds.
"Do you feel better now?" You asked making him look back at you.
"Mmm," He nodded.
"Can you pass me a shirt from my suitcase?" He asked politely making his eyes to land on the suitcase that was sitting on the opposite corner of the room.
"Sure," You nodded looking down and walking towards his luggage. It's better if he covers himself.
"What's the lock code?" You asked him as you attempted to open the suitcase.
"0-0-7."
Of course. You clicked open the suitcase.
"Hey, pass my razor too." He said still sitting on the bed.
"Why don't you get up and get things yourself. This suitcase is a mess. And anyway don't you have to get up and pee or shit?" You scolded him while searching for a t-shirt in the messed up the pile of everything he decided to fit inside the little box.
"Please."
Shamelessly lazy.
"Also, you don't have any beard." You said swivelling your head to glare at him mischievously.
"I have," He said tilting his head back and tracing a finger through his jawline.
"Nah. I can't see," You said fishing out the first t-shirt that you found.
"Get my razor please, you just can't see them because my stubble is blonde."
You ignored his plead and re-locked the suitcase and walked back to the closet. Before he could say anything, you threw the t-shirt at him. It smacked right across his face. You turned to face the inside of the cupboard and continued to arrange stuff from the point you left.
You still loved teasing Harrison Osterfield.
"Get your lazy ass up. Just minutes before you were yelling about not waking you up earlier. And see now---"
"I asked for my trimmer!"
A small smirk formed on your face hearing him groan behind you, imagining his annoyed face.
"You don't have much stuff to shave, mister." You said mindfully playful, pretending to be mindlessly serious. He shuffled behind your back. Then you heard his footsteps. And then his hands were wrapped around your waist, his head on your shoulder, chest pressed against your back. And then he swiped his jaw across your right cheek. The hot embarrassment that was floating through your veins turned to innocent whines accompanied by occasional fits of laughter.
"Ou. Ou. Ouch." You whined in between fits of laughter as his pointy stubble rubbed against the soft skin of your cheeks. He chuckled as you struggled to get out of his grip.
"Stop," You laughed, "Harrison," You laughed hysterically.
"Why? Isn't my clean-shaven-fresh-buttery skin soft enough?" He teased. You could hear him smile through the words.
"Fuck you," You managed to utter.
"Metamorphically or literally?!" His voice sounded satirical.
Until.
Until his lips pecked the corner of your jaw. You froze in his arms. He quickly unwrapped his arms from your body.
No. You didn't freeze because you felt uncomfortable but because of how badly your heart fluttered. You liked how innocent, friendly and warm his little kiss was. His lips had barely touched your skin. Yet your stomach fluttered like a hundred butterflies were set free in a small chamber.
"I-I should stop procrastinating and head for the shower." He said, maintaining the distance between you both. You looked at him. He had already worn that t-shirt and his hands were tucked in his sweatpants' pockets. And again, his eyes were everywhere except on you. For one moment he's cheerful and full of smiles and laughs. And the other moment he's nervous. Anxious. The Harrison you knew from your workplace was cocky and snobby. You clenched your fists, feeling bold.
"Harrison look at me." You weren't sure if he listened.
You repeated, but this time your fingers grazed his jaw and he turned his head to look at you, "Look at me, Harrison." It was a whisper this time, quieter than the previous call but you were sure that he listened. His eyes met yours.
What has happened to you? You wanted to say. Although you were sure you were not missing his old cockiness. But you ended up saying— "Mum and Dad went out at nine in the morning. You don't need to think about getting up late."
"Oh."
There was a pause for a few seconds before he spoke again— "You don't need to follow the contract when your parents aren't around." His voice was quiet and sad. And again, that crumbling feeling in your heart returned. What has happened to you, Osterfield?
"I am not being nice to you because of the contract," You replied removing your hand.
"Then why?"
"You are scaring me," You whispered looking down.
"What?" His voice was a mixture of surprise and terror. You lifted your head to look at him again.
"One moment you're happy and cheerful and the other moment you're nervous and anxious. You weren't like this previously. What's wrong with you?" Your eyes narrowed down to contemplation as your thoughts finally took the form of speech.
"I don't think you're missing that asshole Harrison." He said.
"Neither I am fond of seeing someone in some kind of untold agony." You replied. He chuckled at your choice of words. You ignored his lame reaction to such a serious topic and walked across him, making yourself sit on the edge of the bed.
"Come on tell me about you. That was a part of the contract." You said continuing with your previous question. He chuckled again. More like an irritated chuckled.
"Everything you are doing is because of the contract Y/n. You just talk like a politician doing stuff for votes but just don't accept." He said and dragged a chair to sit across you. You already sensed his attempt to change the topic. You were already getting used to his 'attempts'.
"It's---"
"Why are you being nice to me?" He asked his hands holding his chin while his gaze was fixed on your face. You won't let him slip on this topic. You mentally made a note.
"I asked you about your changed behaviour first. Why are you suddenly so---" You couldn't complete your sentence again, he had already interrupted you—
"You don't have to feel pity for me. I have done nothing to make you worry about me. Stop being so nice Y/n, it's not gonna help you."
"What the hell are you saying? What does that even mean?" Your voice easily showcased how annoyed you were feeling because of his claims. What non-sense was he puking? He stood up again. The pushing of the chair made a slight scratching noise.
"Would you like to go on a date with me?"
"What the fuck?" You meant to speak this in your head though. He tittered, brushing his nose tip with the back of his hand and then coughed. He stuffed his hands in the pocket of his sweatpants again and almost towered over your figure. His facial muscles were tensed in seriousness, while your face was scrunched up in confusion.
He spoke in a low voice. A low voice that screamed of confidence— "If we are actually doing this 'being nice to each other' thing, I don't want you to be nice to me because of pity or a stupid trope you fished out of romance novels that you call 'contract'... I want you to be nice to me because of real reasons. Not pity or sympathy."
"You aided me in making that contract." Your voice came out quiet as a toddler confronting his parents about the stolen chocolates. He groaned throwing his head back and then sighed.
"I am not asking you to burn that... for fucksake, I hate that word!" He groaned again and mumbled something under his breath, probably another cuss word.
He started all over again— "I am not asking you to burn that 'mutual agreement of consensual fake dating'," he spoke in a single breath; "I am just asking you-- us to be honest. All the rules in that agreement are completely valid. But we should be honest with what we are doing."
"And how will a real date help in that?" You asked shifting to sit more on the edge of the bed.
"It will give me a 'real' chance to prove that I am not an asshole. I first believed this fake dating will do that but if you are being nice to me just for the sake of the rules we established I don't exactly have any chance to get out of your bad books. And moreover, one of those rules talks about making you trust me. So... Basically, I am following rules. Also it's not a romantic date, just a friendly meeting," He completed puffing out a breath.
"Why does it matter so much to you?" That was the only question you could ask under his deep stare.
"It's not about if it matters to me but that it doesn't matter to you at all." He said turning away. "So, it's a no?"
You saw him shook his head and sighing again. And then he was walking towards the bathroom without even giving you a single glance. He opened the door.
"You can't assume I said no."
He turned at your words.
Maybe he'll tell about himself on that date or friendly meeting of his.
"If I say yes, where will you take me to our... friendly meeting?" You asked and instantly his face showcased a faint smile.
"Where do you want to go?" He asked and leaned against the door frame.
"There's this restaurant called Binkey's near the airport. Their rainbow dessert cake is very famous, last time when I came here, they had run out of it---"
"I'll make sure they won't run out of it this time." He smirked.
"I must tell you, I am a hard to please girl," You challenged him with an even bigger smirk.
"We'll see that, princess. See you there at seven then." He said pretending to cock a pistol and blowing off the smoke holding his fingers near his lips.
"Take your razor inside," you said trying not to laugh when he was about to shut the door. He made a dramatic pout and fished out the necessary stuff and walked back to the bathroom. Before shutting the door, he looked at you—
"And Y/n... Be real."
* * *
After his shower and morning routine that he completed in the afternoon, he simply left. He ate the left-over lunch, borrowed a small bag from you, inserted a pair of clothes and told you that he'll pick you up from here formally.
'Can't spoil our first date' if you put it in his exact words.
First date? Our first date? It was the bullshitiest thing you had heard (even though bullshitiest as a word isn't been coined yet).
For him, those moments were maybe just the part of an awful prank but for you, they were real and lovely. You hated how he talked to you in between scenes. You hated how he brought those shitty cookies to work and shared it with you, telling that he made them. They didn't taste good at all. You just blatantly lied, they were too sweet and raw. But you lied to see him smile, to see his eyes crinkle. He took you to the roller skates alley, you laughed even when you fell, you smiled when he seemed worried. You assumed it was a date when he invited you to the party. You thought that the prank was a reverse prank. Whatever those were but you counted them as dates.
It wasn't the first time you were doing this.
But still, you were sitting here wearing something much fancier for sitting inside a house. You had tried to cover all the blemishes, spots and uneven skin tone in your face with makeup. You had wore some fancy jewelry, some fancy eye-shadow and a bold lipstick shade, all for this date or friendly meeting bullshit. You can still say no. Why would you care about his feelings? Did he care about yours ever? He even spoiled your date with Simon. Was it smart to willingly feel heartbreak again?
He only suggested the rule to be complete strangers after this fake relationship is over. What if he acts like an absolutely lovely guy again. He is already doing it though. And you start to like him again. And then boom, the deal is over and he'll be laughing at you again. Maybe that's his hobby—heartbreaking. He had a reputation of being a fuckboy back then. You didn't want to hear the doorbell anymore. But you heard it. No. It wasn't the doorbell, it was your phone ringing. It was Harrison's call, strangely. You picked it up.
"Hello."
"Oh Y/n, sorry we need to change plans," He said on the other side of the call. You didn't know what exactly you were feeling about this reply.
"Ah, why?" You asked tucking those curled up hair strands behind your ears.
"There's some sand storm warnings here so the traffic is been diverted. I can't come to pick you up and you can't come here, so I am just waiting in this grocery store I found, till everything's calm. I am really sorry." He sighed. You didn't understand why he was apologizing. It was his plan, although you really were thinking about that rainbow cake now. But his voice was the one disappointed. You felt bad for him. He had planned it after all. Why can't you just settle on either feeling something or nothing for him?!
"Hmm. No problem. We can go any other day. Even tomorrow." You replied with a tight-lipped smile even if it wasn't visible to him.
"Mmh. Yeah."
"So... Any idea when you'll come back?" You asked playing with those curls you have untucked again, rolling them between your fingers. You heard him thinking on the other side, humming as he did.
"I don't think anywhere before twelve."
You paused for a minute before replying, "Oh-- okay. Take care."
"Yeah, you too... Bye."
"Bye." You sighed cutting the call. Now you have to make dinner.
You didn't make dinner, just munched on some chips and other snack items. You changed back into your pyjamas, removed the makeup and accessories and watched a bunch of stupid comedy shows. Mum and dad also won't be back tonight, so you were all by yourself. You checked the time. It was not even ten. Time wasn't passing fast. That's when you realised you were actually looking forward for that date.

broadway [t.h.]
Requested: hc with tom about what it would be like when you land your first leading role on broadway ?? ((doesn't have to be included, but just personally, i'm a poc, so if it could be a role with a poc, that would be awesome, as it's not an easy feat. to come by !!) thank you, you are amazing, and i hope you have a wonderful day !! ❤️❤️❤️ -anon
A/N: thank you for reading and requesting honey!! i’m a poc too lets goOOOOO
[master list] [prompts]
Tumblr media
[imagine this is tom watching you on stage awawaw]
tom would obviously be such a soft and supportive boyfriend!!
after you got a call saying you landed the role, you screamed and yelled “tOOOOOOOM”
and he frantically ran over to the room you were in
he was so worried like “babe what happened?” “are you okay??” are you hurt?”
but you were jumping excitedly and it was so evident on your face meanwhile tom was so confused
(you didn’t tell him about auditioning or anything just in case you didn’t land a role)
you started screaming again
“TOM I GOT IT! I GOT THE PART”
“what part? what? what are you talking about?”
you spoke so fast when explaining
“I GOT THE LEAD ROLE FOR THIS MUSICAL ON BROADWAY OHMYGOD TOM I GOT IT”
after he processed the words, his expression changed to match yours and he started hugging you and jumping/screaming with you
“OHMYGOD Y/N!!! THATS AMAZING I AM SO PROUD OF YOU LOVE WE HAVE TO CELEBRATE”
tom knew how much this meant to you even if you didn’t talk to him about it
especially since it’s already hard enough as a poc
a poc getting a lead role on broadway ?? iconic
he took you out to a fancy restaurant and he just wouldn’t stop bragging to everybody
your waiter would ask if you two are there for a special occasion
tom’s eyes would light the fuck up
“yeah actually!! my girlfriend y/n here just landed the lead role for this broadway musical”
that also landed you free dessert and pictures with all of the staff at the restaurant
afterwards, you two would be walking down the street and tom just keeps yelling “MY GIRLFRIEND IS GONNA BE IN BROADWAY” “Y/N Y/L/N IS GONNA BE A STAR”
it embarrassed you a lot but not as much as the love you felt for your stupid boyfriend
while you were practicing, tom would try to show up as much as possible
they allowed him to sit in the seats in the theatre, blatantly watching you rehearse awwwww
after every break he’d come up to you clapping and going “that’s my girlfriend!!! omg !!”
tom would so hype you up for your first performance!!!!
he would post EVERYWHERE on social media about how proud he is of his lovely girlfriend y/n
he’d also ask his fans to go if they can afford it!!
he’d brag so much about you to whoever is seated next to him
“yeah the lead is my girlfriend it’s no big deal or anything”
we all know he’s a loud boy so after every scene he’d give such a huge round of applause
intermission (is there intermission for broadway??) could be renamed “tom holland hypes up y/n y/l/n’s performance for 10 minutes straight”
just so so so much bragging in general about you
and how much he loves you
and how talented you are
not to mention all his social media posts
and spoiling you with congratulatory flowers and fancy dinners

One More - Harrison Osterfield
pairing: harrison osterfied x reader
Part one Part two part 2.5
Fluff bomb alerttttttt
Can’t Let Go Yet Kiss - The type of goodbye kiss when you keep leaving quick pecks on each other’s lips, but end up pulling each other back for more, which could go on for hours if one of you don’t finally pull away.
“You know, who needs to workout at the gym when you can pack with a monkey on your back.” Harrison chuckled and you mumbled something against his neck, arms around his shoulders and legs around his waist.
He had been back home for two weeks but they went by faster than both of you  had expected. So now as he finished packing some of his clothes, you were indeed clinging onto his back refusing to let go. You never wanted to let go. You wanted to stay there forever, breathe in the familiar smell of the shampoo he always used and feel the warmth that radiated from his body. Harrison knew this, his own chest hurting at the thought of being apart again. So he relished having you close to him at that moment even though it made packing harder.
“What was that, beautiful?” He asked, smile on his face as he looked over his shoulder at you.
“Don’t pack,” You mumbled, resting your cheek against his shoulder making him chuckle and zip up his bag.
“Then I wouldn’t have any clothes to wear in Montreal.” You shook your head again, pouting this time.
“Then, don’t go.”
Haz sighed taking his bag from the bed and walking to the living room where he set it down and you as well. Checking your phone, you went sit crisscrossed on the couch Haz following closely behind. “You have an hour.” You announced looking up at your boyfriend who gave you one of those heart warming smiles.
“Great, wanna cuddle?” He asked, always knowing what you needed. He knew that what both of you wanted more than anything else in that moment was the comfort that being close to each other brought you.
“Don’t I always?” You smiled, making room for him to lay down with you tucked into his chest. Sighing in content both of you stayed silent, only speaking up whenever you remembered to ask him if he had packed the sweaters on top of the bedroom drawer or enough socks and his toothbrush. Harrison only hummed in response, smiling against your forehead as his fingers caressed the skin on your back.
He traced undecipherable patterns across your spine, your side and your stomach before starting once more. The both of you would have fallen asleep right there but the alarm went off signaling that the time for you to be together was up, at least for now.
Sighing both of you got up, Harrison stood in front of you and cupped both of your cheeks with his hands. “I’m gonna miss you.” You whispered closing your eyes.
He nuzzled his nose with yours gently, it was your thing as a couple so much so that people always mention that you guys invented eskimo kisses. “I will too. So so much, baby.” Your boyfriend whispered back before pressing his lips against yours.
It was soft and beautiful and longing, both of you trying to make time slow down while at the same time trying to kiss as much as time would allow you. One of Harrison’s hands moved to your waist, the other one staying on your cheek before pulling just an inch away. “I love you,” He whispered giving your lips a soft peck then peppering them around your mouth with a smile on his face.
“I love you more and you’re going to miss your flight.” You mumbled against his lips, your eyes were closed and your smile was pure bliss.
“Just one more.”
“Yes please,” You smiled before sighing as your lips met again, your heart was doing jumping jacks making your chest feel like it was going to blow up with so much love inside it. You didn’t even notice Harrison had picked you up until your mouths were on the same level smiling against each other, relieving your neck from the strain of leaning upwards. Your hands found his hair and his wrapped themselves around your frame making you forget the fact that he was leaving for a second before the thought came back to you forcing you to pull away from him.
“You have to go,” You went back to whispering in case your voice failed you although the sad smile on your lips and your eyes that had begun to water failed you already.
“Don’t cry beautiful, please don’t.” His thumb brushed against your cheek. “For me, okay?” His voice cracked the slightest bit letting you know the same knot in your throat was forming on his. You nodded looking up to stop your tears from spilling and composing yourself.
“It’s only two months.” He nuzzled your noses together again, “After that I’m yours, love.”
Harrison gave you the smile that meant he was planning something making you give him a playful yet quizzical look. “Baby? What are you up to?”
He gave you one last kiss, a soft press of lips before taking his bag and sending you a wink, “Guess you’ll find out in two months.”
“Harrison!”
“I love you!” He smiled before closing the door behind him.
there’s obviously gonna be another part to this.
tagging @parkerbenjaminpeter because i love her and she asked me to lol💗
I guess you can all see I’ve swerved. Next up, Sam! stay tuned.
