I’ve decided that I have a good bone structure to pull off Jim Hawkins from Disney’s Treasure Planet. I’m going to do a Disney Bound/Dapper Day outfit/cosplay of him for sure this year. Might even wear it to D23 expo if I ever get to go.

I honestly think I was partially inspired by his relationship with John Silver. Silver has a similar body type to my own father and I’ve been missing him quite a bit this year. No matter how grown you are when you loose em, a good parent is mourned for life. 💔

Thoughts…

To be honest, I think Disney is getting scared at this point. With the D23 Expo announcement of new movie releases such as Frozen 3, Zootopia 2, and Toy Story 5, they know that they have some real competition with Dreamworks after they released Puss in Boots and Bad Guys. It seems as though Disney lost the magic and can’t think of anything new, so they have to go through the treasure chest and pick out movies that will bring in more revenue. They know that Dreamworks is bringing the heat back (and when I say heat, I mean like Shrek 2 kind of heat), and they’re not afraid to touch on certain topics. But with Dreamworks coming back into play, hopefully the competition between both of these animation studios will render some amazing movies in the years to come.

Not only will parts of this years biennial D23 fan event be streamed on Disney Plus, allowing viewers worldwide to be a part of the activities as they happen, but the event is also going international with the announcement of the first D23 Brazil: A Disney Experience, which will take place November 2024 in São Paolo, Brazil. D23 itself tales place 9th to 11th August at the Anaheim Convention Center, and exactly how much of these shows will be streamed is uncertain, but with the event pulling in 80,000 fans generating 280 billion digital and social media impressions with a media value of $3.8 billion, it will be a delivcate balance between how much is too much. Either way, the expansion of D23 can only be a good thing for global fans of Disney. Along with the streaming dimension, which may include the mainstay “Legends” awards for Disney all-timers, new components this summer include musical performances from top artists and exclusive shopping experiences. In addition, D23 will expand internationally in November with an event in São Paolo, Brazil, Ayaz said, without providing any additional details. Ayaz, who is the first executive to hold the Chief Brand Officer title at Disney, said the D23 push is motivated by the uniqueness of Disney’s fan base and the broader effort to monetize the company’s trove of IP. D23, named for the year when the company was founded, caters to “fans who are incredibly passionate, feel a true sense of ownership over our brands and characters and have been with us through multiple stages of their lives,” the exec said. “Our fans are not merely passive observers.
