I can't take the "Shen Yuan joins Bingge's harem for political reasons and Bingge has no interest in him" trope seriously because shen yuan WOULD be crazy excited about that like
Binghe on their wedding night: this is just to secure alliance with your clan, I have no interest in getting to know you and you can forget about us having a relationship
Shen Yuan: that works for me! I know I'm not one of your advisors or something but like you said, I'm here to help you secure alliance so I have a few ideas... I think you should negotiate with the village about...
Binghe watching his cute little husband passionately yap about ways he wants to help Binghe and make his life easier without wanting anything in return: I. I may have made a mistake by saying all that.

Shen Yuan is transmigration sillyputty. Observe.
AU where he transmigrates into a rogue cultivator? Love those. Demonic cultivator for some spice, secret cultivator, beast expert cultivator, and more!
Transmigrate into a no name desciple? It's good to expand on dynamics. Same age as the protagonist? His shidi? His shixong? Or is he among the Qing generation of disciples! Lots of options.
Into a pidw harem member? Why not? There's at least 300 of them, go nuts, make one up for kicks or pick a canonical name to play with! Canon's your oyster.
Into other existing characters? Of course, that just makes sense. Other peak lords, other cultivators, his students, whatever suits your fancy.
Into a random new npc somewhere in the world doing average stuff? We love the creativity. A young master, a scholar, sometimes a farmer.
Into a sword! Love it!! Xiu Ya, Xin Mo, or maybe he's a different artifact entirely!
Into a demon? Definitely, there's several. Noble demons, no name wife material demons, new never before seen kinds of demons.
Into a CAT!? WE GOT YOU. other animals too, but catzun is classic. Dragons are also up there.
Into a worm?!? We love him even as a worm.
Into a SYSTEM? IVE SEEN AT LEAST 2 OF THESE.
He's sillyputty. We throw him at transmigration concepts to see how he sticks.

AU where Shen Yuan transmigrated into emperor Shen Qingqiu/SJ and has to take over his male harem.
In the original story: Binghe's adopted mother and him were just servants of the palace and he was set to marry Shen Qingqiu so that his mother would be able to live in the palace and receive care for her illness, although Shen Qingqiu was a cruel emperor who seemed to punish Binghe for no good reason. Unfortunately after their marriage, Luo Binghe's mother passed away and Binghe had harbored a hatred towards Shen Jiu ever since.
It turns out Tianlang Jun was his father so technically Luo Binghe is the rightful heir to the throne, but Shen Jiu wanted to hide this fact. He suspected that Luo Binghe was Tianlang Jun's son because of his striking resemblance to Su Xiyan who died after giving birth.
Luo Binghe is able to kill Shen Jiu and inherit the throne, killing Shen Jiu's harem and his subordinates as well as creating new alliances and starting his own harem of comphet.
Anyway Shen Yuan figures that he's BIG FUCKED, so he plans to escape but the system gets to him first. Shen Jiu was really picky about his harem members at first only having Yue Qingyuan as a concubine and Binghe after the said arranged marriage, only acquiring more later on. So Shen Yuan transmigrated at that point in time and awakes to Yue Qingyuan by his bedside.
He thinks "there's no way I'm going to get a harem!!". And then the system tells him that user 002 MUST acquire a harem otherwise his account will get terminated. So Shen Yuan is like, okay!! So he won't marry Binghe, hug the protagonist's thighs, and he'll only STRICTLY have a male harem so the protagonist doesn't castrate him for getting with his future brides.
So Shen Qingqiu transmigrated after the death of Luo Binghe's mother and he immediately called off the marriage, unlike the original goods who only seemed to marry Binghe for sadistic reasons (seeing LBH suffer).
Shen Qingqiu makes sure that he instead makes Luo Binghe his personal servant and helps him work his way up to advisor, because Shen Qingqiu is not allowed to reveal Luo Binghe's true heritage he'll just help Binghe climb the ranks instead!
(Of course, Luo Binghe ends up falling for Shen Yuan anyway.)
One by one Shen Qingqiu starts acquiring a male harem, being choosey about his picks and making sure he has useful subordinates for the future. The only reason he's able to have a male-only harem is because he finds a magic plant that helps him conceive (not like it'd be of use though!)
He is able to arrange a marriage with Liu Qingge, because he is the brother of Luo Binghe's future wife Liu Mingyan! At first Liu Qingge was extremely reluctant because him and the original goods hated each other's guts.
Shen Yuan tries to, ahem, court him... but he's only doing it to get on good terms with Liu Qingge! He comes by Liu Manor every week to have tea with Liu Qingge, and is able to nurse him back to health after finding him marred by a beast. He tells Liu Qingge about his ideas of alliance and proposes a marriage they should marry for convenience. (Unbeknownst to him is that Liu Qingge's got it down bad for SY.)
He then tries to court Gongyi Xiao for an alliance with Huan Hua Palace, and their marriage takes place in the fall. He also marries Mu Qingfan to strengthen his political allies.
At some point he finds a beaten up poor man in the streets, he helps him to his palace and offers him a place to stay. This man says he has amnesia but he remembers being called Zhushi-lang, Shen Qingqiu realizes this is the nephew of the deceased Tianlang-Jun, and offers Zhushi-lang to marry him so that he could be on better terms with the family, and so that he doesn't get castrated later on!
Of course with every new husband Shen Qingqiu acquires, Luo Binghe is filled with burning jealousy. After Shen Qingqiu married Zhushi-lang (a nobody!) Luo Binghe cracks.
Binghe finds out that he's the biological child of Su Xiyan, and tries to enter into Huan Hua to gain a better reputation and better social standing so he can marry Shen Qingqiu.
Shen Qingqiu realizes this is the part where the original goods Binghe found out his true heritage as Tianlang-Jun's son! And that this is when he plans to reveal all of this to Shen Qingqiu, essentially usurping him from the throne and having him castrated!!! Before this could happen though, Shen Qingqiu created an escape plan to fake his death.
Luo Binghe comes back to the "death" of Shen Qingqiu, and realizes that he is the next inheritance of the throne. Luo Binghe is devastated, and does everything in his power to bring Shen Qingqiu back.
That's all I got for now, other things to note:
- SQH is a transmigrator too and is Shen Qingqiu's subordinate
- This is a cultivation AU, but no demons
- I haven't quite figured out what Shen Jiu's relation is to Tianlang-Jun or how he's emperor, I'll think of that laaater

Baby Dimension au
inspired by this
Baby dimension au
One of the many things that had always bothered Shen Yuan about Proud Immortal Demon Way was the way that Airplane Shooting Towards The Sky treated Luo Binghe’s children.
By the time that Luo Binghe was into his centuries long reign and the story completed, Luo Binghe had dozens of children. Some were named, and others were only known by the fact that their mother had to go into seclusion in the background of a harem drama. The exact number of his kids were unknown, and Luo Binghe showed little to no interest in them beyond their continued survival.
To ensure his children’s survival, Luo Binghe used Xin Mo to create a pocket dimension of sorts. Only his most trusted servants would be selected with the task of living permanently in these hidden realms to raise his children. Each child had their own separate pocket realm and caretaker, with children born of the same mother being grouped together.
Some of the more filial mothers spent time with their children, and Shen Yuan quietly suspects that a number of the ditched Harem members chose to live with their children instead of in the palace full of snakes.
The reason the fan dubbed ‘baby dimension’ came into existence was because of Luo Binghe’s first children.
Luo Binghe’s foray into fatherhood began with his first two children, Luo Meiying and Luo Fang.
When Luo Binghe lived on Qing Jing Peak, he had made a promise with Ning Yingying that when he married her, they would have a beautiful child together. Once the three realms had been unified, revenge had been taken, and the harem had been settled; Airplane introduced that retconned promise. Ning Yingying asked if they could finally have a baby together and Luo Binghe agreed.
Of course, this sent Sha Hualing into a jealous fit. She acted out and terrorized the other harem members until Luo Binghe agreed to give her a child as well. To prevent Sha Hualing from escalating and trying to do anything to make Ning Yingying miscarry, Luo Binghe agreed to impregnate her as well.
Naturally this led to a threesome sex maraton between Ning Yingying, Sha Hualing, and Luo Binghe. Luo Binghe gathered a fertility lotus plant for the two of them, and they locked themselves away in Luo Binghe’s chambers for 3 days. The two girls spent the whole time fighting each other and vying for Luo Binghe’s attention as well as more turne with the Heavenly Pillar.
It ended with both of the wives undeniably pregnant.
Fast Forward some harem antics where some wives tried to sabotage the pregnancies, and a lot of kinky pregnancy related sex, the two babies were born. Ning Yingying’s daughter, Luo Meiying, and Sha Hualing’s son, Luo Fang. Luo Binghe was there for the births of his children and he seemed genuinely pleased about it. Sha Hualing and Ning Yingying were obviously the most favored wives for a time, as Luo Binghe exclusively dual cultivated with either of them and spent a lot of time with his children.
Then the readers got bored of this domestic arc.
Luo Binghe’s children were faced by constant threats, targeted by the harem and his enemies alike. The dangers were so numerous that Sha Hualing herself wanted to go into seclusion with her child, just so that her son would survive. Of course, she was more motivated by the fact she didn’t want to lose the leverage that the child gave her after all of the effort she spent bringing it into the world, but still. It was a problem.
The solution?
Creating a series of Hidden Realms using Xin Mo.
Since the space was only accessible through Xin Mo, nobody could threaten the safety of his children any longer. He allowed his wives to choose their most loyal servant to entrust the task of raising their children. After setting them up with all they would need, and telling the mothers they could ask any time for visits, he left the children to be raised in the Hidden Realms, with the expectation they could leave once they reach adulthood.
After that, his children were promptly forgotten and only mentioned in passing.
Ning Yingying ended up having another child later on, and that one joined his older sister in the Baby Dimension after being weaned.
From there, pregnancies and children were only mentioned in passing. There were no updates as to what goes on in the Baby Dimensions, and Luo Binghe’s children became yet another forgotten plot line.
Any children he had were forgotten in favor of an ever expanding harem of women who were wedded, bedded, and forgotten.
The whole thing bothered Shen Yuan immensely, being a common topic that he brought up in his vicious reviews of each chapter. Yes, Luo Binghe was a blackened stallion protagonist, but it didn’t make sense for his character to simply have a bunch of children that he forgot existed in favor of getting his dick wet. Luo Binghe seemed to genuinely love his children during the time before he sent them away, and it was the closest thing to happiness that he displayed since the beginning of the story with his adoptive mother.
None of the other fans cared about it, so Luo Binghe’s unknown number of children were thoroughly forgotten. Even the end of the story didn’t address the children whatsoever! Not even a mention of Luo Binghe having an heir, let alone multiple.
Shen Yuan had never forgotten about it, but it did get tucked away in some far off corner of his mind after he transmigrated.
Now, he lived as Shen Qingqiu, and he was happily married to his own version of Luo Binghe.
The reason all of his prior frustrations came racing back to him is because his husband asked if they could have children. The two of them had been married for 15 years now, and a lot of the problems from earlier in their relationship had been worked on. Luo Binghe was no longer as intensely jealous because of his abandonment issues to the point that having children would be upsetting to him.
They were in a good place to start discussing things.
Shen Qingqiu had stepped down as Peak Lord with the rest of the Qing generation in favor of their successors, and instead moved full time to the Demon Realm. He had long since revealed his true identity as a transmigrator to his Husband, so Shen Yuan adopted his old name once he left the Human Realm.
Their rule was secure, they had been married for years, and their relationship was stable. It seemed like the perfect time to add to the family.
There did exist flowers and relics that could allow men to get pregnant, however, once Luo Binghe brought up the topic, Shen Yuan’s mind instantly went to the abandoned children of Luo Bingge.
Shen Yuan knew that his Binghe would be a wonderful father, one that would never abandon his children. Shen Yuan never really got over the fact that all those children had been made and discarded, out of sight and out of mind.
So, he made a deal with Binghe.
They would have one biological child together, but after that, any additional children would be ones that they obtained from Binghe’s counterpart. Binghe initially protested, wanting nothing to do with that imposter, but Shen Yuan laid out the way all of those children had been abandoned and how it had bothered him for years.
It took some arguing and tears, but eventually an agreement was made.
Luo Binghe bore pregnancy with grace and sneakily used his blood parasites to ensure that egg split, resulting in twins. Luo Binghe was ecstatic with pregnancy, having fought to be the one that carries the child. Shen Yuan thought that as the Emperor, Luo Binghe should be the one to get him pregnant, but Luo Binghe said he’d only agree to snatching the imposter’s children if he gets to give birth to Shizun’s babies.
Shen Yuan gave in to prevent having a Qi deviation over the sheer nonsense that Luo Binghe spewed.
Shen Mingyu and Shen Yongrui were fraternal twins, a girl and boy. They both took after Shen Yuan more in looks, but shared Luo Binghe’s curly hair, something that Shen Yuan was extremely pleased with. The two were doted on and spoiled endlessly, beloved by their parents and people, who were happy to have an actual heir at last.
When the children were 4, Luo Binghe started to get restless, asking for more.
Thus began their newfound hobby of breaking into Baby Dimensions and kidnapping children.
Well, to be more exact.
Thus began a series of excursions where they traveled to various baby dimensions to meet with the children there and get to know them. When they offered the opportunity to leave and come with them to their own world, each and every child jumped at the chance to leave, even knowing ahead of time that Luo Binghe wasn’t the father that sired them.
They didn’t do it too often. Not wanting to do the same thing as the original and forget about their children and spending time with them because they valued quantity. They made sure that each and every one of their children were loved, regardless of if they were created by them specifically.
Each new addition to their family brought joy to their lives. Shen Yuan truly couldn’t understand how Luo Bingge didn’t adore each of these wonderful beings that he helped create. Shen Yuan loved all of his children, and they were each a blessing.
Maybe Shen Yuan got a little ambitious, because he started to want the two that started it all. Luo Meiying and Luo Fang, the ones that almost could have had a loving father if only the readers hadn’t gotten bored of domesticity. Shen Yuan wanted them to have better. He had avoided taking them thus far because they were the children of the main and favored wives, but they had taken close to a dozen children without notice over the years.
Just like the rest of their siblings, Luo Meiying and Luo Fang agreed to join them.
However, this time they caught the attention of Luo Bingge. Turns out, Luo Bingge had been noticing his children dwindling, so he set extra protections around all of his remaining children so that he could catch the culprit and save his missing children, if they were still alive.
Luo Bingge came to demand his children back, but his children all claimed that they were Shen Yuan and Luo Bingmei’s children.
Bingge doesn’t actually have THAT many kids at this point in the timeline
SY was grossly overestimating how many kids LBG had in general
atm Bingge only had like 18 kids and Bingqiu stole 10 of them
Bingge does actually check on his kids when he can get away from his harem (which isn’t often)
this is yet another thing that the fake has stolen from him
even his own flesh and blood prefer an imposter over their own father
it really fucks Bingge up
plus side is that he figures out that Nice Shizun is actually named Shen Yuan
then he finds his own SY
And he makes sure that the rest of his kids won’t get stolen by abolishing the baby dimensions and bringing the kids out
SY becomes their teacher
Bingge believes in adopted parent relationships so he doesn’t try to take his kids back, but he does fall into a weird shared custody agreement with Bingqiu
Bingge makes harming his children punishable by death, and his wives are NOT exempt from this. Little Palace Mistress finds this out the hard way when she tries to eliminate one of Bingge’s daughters and gets publicly executed.
Bingge overhauls the harem in general, because now he has got his priorities in order. Which are railing his kid’s teacher, and also taking care of his kids because he doesn’t want them to get taken from him and lose out on them.
Bingge stops expanding his harem and even downsizes it, plus he works out something other than dual cultivation to control Xin Mo because having sex is cutting into his time braiding his children’s hair. And also trying to sleep with their teacher.
Bingge finds being a dad a lot more fulfilling than being a harem master and emperor of the united realms, and also fucking his children’s teacher. That also fills him better.

Started thinking about a modern Bingliushen pro-wrestling AU.
Liu Qingge is a face and very popular for his noble character and his incredible athleticism, like, pro wrestling is fake but Liu Qingge is clearly a legit badass. His rival is...
Luo Binghe is a heel, always comes out to the ring with a harem, and always wins when he and Liu Qingge fight, often because a couple members of the harem do underhanded things.
When they do, Luo Binghe scolds them and says he doesn't believe in cheating to win and then always gives the camera the most absolute wicked "of course I actually support this" look. (Even though he is also an athletic badass. There are frequent calls for them to have a clean fight cause fans want to genuinely know who'd win.)
Shang Qinghua is the script writer.
And Shen Yuan is the YouTuber who does hour-long vitriolic rants after every event where he lambasts the writing and detests the whole harem and leads the brigade of people demanding that Binghe and Qingge have a clean fight with no interference. His videos are so unhinged that he's actually gotten extremely popular, because his over-the-top-ness fits right in with the megadrama that is pro wrestling. The only issue, if it's an issue, is that no one can figure out if it's a schtick or if he genuinely is like that and really believes all the nonsense he's spewing (and, by extension, if he fully realizes that wrestling is a schtick).
Oh, and one other thing?
Shen Yuan never shows his face. His videos are voice-overs of clips, ingeniously done animations, awfully done animations, once or twice a person in a mask, once or twice a weird pseudo Hatsune Miko thing, he has many tricks to keep the visuals interesting and none involve a face reveal.
He has sworn up and down he'll never do a face reveal.
When he hits 1 million subscribers, Shang Qinghua reluctantly acknowledges that this fuckin annoying weirdo has gotten too big to ignore. He wants to meet him. He wants to make him shut the fuck up, or at least ease off on the hate. And since he's clearly obsessed with Luo Binghe and Liu Qingge, Shang Qinghua has a plan.
He invites Shen Yuan to meet the real Luo Binghe and Liu Qingge.
Luo Binghe and Liu Qingge, who have an at-times-tense friendship behind the scenes (what kind of tense? Yes.) Are of course aware of this Shen Yuan fellow, and both enjoy watching his videos (...and really like his voice...) and Luo Binghe at least has noticed there's...something...about the way Shen Yuan talks about Luo Binghe and Liu Qingge, something charged and interested and almost possessive (and yeah, Luo Binghe is into it, and he just assumes Liu Qingge has noticed. Liu Qingge has not.)
And like. Shen Yuan does know that wrestling is fake. He does! But he's still in no way prepared to meet these two men and find out what they're each really like when they're not playing their face/heel roles...
And neither Liu Qingge nor Luo Binghe are prepared for the beautiful face of the man behind those ridiculous videos...

Scum Villain Plot Bunny: Soulmate AU
AO3 link
AU premise: Found here
The first thing Shen Yuan — now Shen Qingqiu — does when he’s left alone after transmigrating is pull open the robes over his chest and look down at the skin where his soulmark is meant to be. It’s still there, thankfully, a thin branch decorated with open plum blossom flowers. He supposed it wouldn’t have been too strange for it to change — after all, the soulmark that the original Shen Qingqiu was written as having had been oddly similar, just with closed buds instead.
The colour of the petals was still vivid under his fingers, despite some odd discolouration around the edges, a bright and vibrant red, rather than faded by the inevitable snapping of a soulmate bond with the death of one member. It made him wonder…
“System, do I have a soulmate here?”
[Shen Qingqiu is soulbound to Protagonist Luo Binghe]
“I know that already!” he complained. He’d read the book — Proud Immortal Demon Way — and as bad as the story had gotten over time, how could he forget one of the most pivotal moments of the plot, the one that had resulted in a sudden surge of popularity… as well as complaints from readers about the story heading into danmei territory after it was revealed that the awful scum villain shizun of the protagonist was his soulmate all along! (Although Shen Yuan could admit that the influx of fanartists that shipped the pair had helped the popularity of the novel grow… he even had a few of their works as posters decorating his apartment and as wallpapers for his laptop).
Airplane-Shooting-Towards-the-Sky had been quick to assure his loyal readers that he was still writing a stallion novel — the twist was based on stories of soulmates with fates bound not by love, but by hatred, great rivalries and sworn enemies. Of course, the hack of an author had quickly abandoned his premise in favour of adding more wives to the harem, with the character that could have been Luo Binghe’s greatest enemy taken down in a trial of all things! No dramatic final confrontation, no sudden plot twists or hidden schemes, it was like the villain had forgotten the role he was meant to play, not even trying to escape from his prison! Shen Yuan demanded a refund! Imagine if Sephiroth had been arrested halfway through the game, or Darth Vader was fired after a poor performance review! It completely destroyed any sense of tension the story had, with every future villain only showing up to be immediately defeated by Luo Binghe.
He asked the System about his soulmate again and it replied the same way.
[Shen Qingqiu is soulbound to Protagonist Luo Binghe]
His scathing literary critique aside, Shen Yuan was stuck living the life of Shen Qingqiu, and now it seemed he’d taken on his soulmate bond with Luo Binghe as part of that. This presented a problem — as much as he wanted to help the protagonist, the System had made it very clear that any deviation from the way Shen Qingqiu usually acted would be punished. Unfortunately for him, this included the fact that Shen Qingqiu refused to make any physical contact with Luo Binghe, not even to hurt him — because that would solidify the bond between them, something the original was, for some reason, completely opposed to, despite the side effects. The very side effects that the current Shen Qingqiu was currently experiencing now, due to the battered-looking young boy bowing before him.
Shen Yuan had never felt his soulmark burn before. For most of his life, he’d assumed he’d be like most people, and only experience it later in life, if he got that far (the average age to meet your soulmate was 37 after all). It hurt, more than he expected it to, but it was a dull and constant pain of the sort he was used to ignoring. He could see Luo Binghe wince before him at the feeling, and felt pity for him. At this point in the story, Luo Binghe didn’t even realise that he had a soulmate, his soulmark sealed away with his demonic heritage at birth. To him, he only felt an unexplained pain in his chest whenever he met Shen Qingqiu, something he attributed in the earlier chapters to guilt at not meeting his expectations, and in the later ones, before the Immortal Alliance Conference and the reveal of the truth, to a burning hatred.
Shen Qingqiu could only sigh internally in relief — it seemed he was early enough in the story that it was still the first. He still had time, still had a chance, to save his own skin and make it out of Airplane’s trainwreck of a story alive, and with all his limbs attached. All he had to do was convince the protagonist to like him… without ever revealing that he was really his soulmate.

I had the hilarious thought of an Bingqiu Aladdin AU, where Luo Binghe is the ‘Aladdin’ equivalent, while Shen Qingqiu is ‘Jafar.’
The idea of Binghe going through all the trouble to set himself up as a prince, not to impress whomever is stuck in the princess role, but to find and seduce Shen Qingqiu (who has been replaced by Shen Yuan), is just too funny!
For the background, I’m thinking that rather than writing a cultivation novel, Airplane wrote one heavily inspired by the ‘One Thousand and One Nights’ and other Middle Eastern folk tales.
In the “original” story, Luo Binghe starts out more or less like Aladdin in the classic non-Disneyfied tale. Binghe and his adoptive mother live in poverty until the sorcerer Shen Qingqiu arrives, lies about having some relation to Binghe’s birth family, and takes him on as an apprentice.
Rather than teaching him sincerely, Shen Qingqiu takes advantage of the boy’s innocence (and latent abilities) in order to steal and excavate powerful potions, artifacts, and so forth. For some added angst, perhaps he also lies to Binghe and says the things they acquire are necessary to aid his ailing mother’s health. Naturally the final artifact they seek is a lamp in a magic cave.
As one might expect, there is a great betrayal and Binghe is stuck with a labyrinthine magical cave system with only a lesser ring genie, Meng Mo, at his disposal. Unfortunately while Meng Mo is old and wise, his powers cannot free them from the caves. Binghe must undergo many trials, and unlock his unexpected half genie ancestry, in order to escape!
He then discovers the lamp he retrieved also has a genie (Mobei-Jun perhaps?), falls for the local princess, surpasses some minor difficulties to marry her, and ultimately becomes the next sultan.
With his new position he is able to lure out his old master and seek revenge! Or like in the Disney movie, the sorcerer character is fused with the sultan’s vizier, and Binghe gains revenge while seducing said princess.
Luo Binghe then moves on to ‘save’ still more beauties to add to his harem, all of whom have various ‘One Thousand and One Nights’ themed backstories and troubles.
Of course with Shen Yuan transmigrating into Shen Qingqiu, he promptly alters the course of the story by actually being an amazing mentor.
He only ever gets Luo Binghe’s help stealing artifacts that are in the hands of actual assholes, gives Binghe much better advice and magical support for all their treasure hunting missions, uses his vast knowledge of the novel’s rare plants, beasts, and artifacts to concoct real cures for both Binghe’s mother and others in need, and even manages to thwart quite a few of the harem member’s tragic backstories (Whoops)!
Having such a wonderful mentor (even if Shen Qingqiu is still technically a thief, a bit of a shit-talker, and clearly lied to Binghe’s mother about being a relative of Binghe’s birth parents), Luo Binghe naturally falls hopelessly in love with him.
Even when Shen Qingqiu traps him in the lamp’s cave, and he must escape through the labyrinth below, Binghe remains convinced it was either a genuine mistake and/or some sort of trial, and his affections aren’t deterred in the slightest. That Shen Qingqiu technically left him with Meng Mo’s ring and the very lamp they were after only serves as ‘proof’ of Shen Qingqiu’s secretly good intentions.
(I’m undecided if Binghe feels particularly silly for not realizing the lamp also had a genie until after he leaves the caves, or the caves further suppressed Mobie-Jun preventing his exit from the lamp).
For the latter Princess wooing portion of the story, I have a few options in mind. As I mentioned before, Airplane’s original version could borrow more from the Disney route, where the sorcerer character is also the vizier, or it could be more based on the original tale, where the sorcerer doesn’t return to the story until later. A third option that combines them both could also work.
For the more Disney-based version, with sorcerer vizier Shen Qingqiu, Yue Qingyuan would have to be the Sultan.
He and the original Shen Qingqiu have a dramatic past where prince Yue Qingyuan pulled a Jasmine and decided to run around town playing commoner and got himself kidnapped by slavers. He was only saved thanks to street rat Shen Jiu.
Alas, while he promised to reward Shen Jiu, Yue Qingyuan never managed to find the boy afterwards. Maybe for some added drama, Shen Jiu tried to contact Yue Qingyuan but his father (the previous Sultan) had the boy arrested and shipped off for his efforts!
When ‘Shen Qingqiu’ shows up later, of course Yue Qingyuan gives him a title and lets him do whatever he wants, out of guilt. Shen Qingqiu’s whole Jafar thing with the brainwashing staff still happens, but is probably unnecessary.
The Princess in this scenario would be Ning Yingying. Shen Qingqiu is rumored to be lusting after her, but in reality he only dotes on her as a father figure, and was actually trying to matchmake her with his apprentice and ward, Ming Fan.
For the version based more on the original tale, I think the role of Sultan would be more suited to the Old Palace Master.
It’s far easier to imagine the Old Palace Master being generally wealth obsessed, not to mention taking gifts from Binghe’s adoptive mother only to then ignore all the promises he made in receiving them.
The Princess would be the Little Palace Mistress. Her having the whole town shut down so she personally could use the public baths is also quite easy to see. Her would-be-fiancé, who is shamed but not killed by Binghe, would be Gongyi Xiao.
As in PIDW, this version of the Sultan has a past with Luo Binghe’s mother. Su Xiyan was a noble lady known to be the greatest beauty in all the land. The Palace Master sought to court and marry her, but she adamantly refused, running off with a powerful genie instead. (The Palace Master has perhaps grown a bit obsessed with capturing and enslaving genies as a result).
Both versions are fun in different ways, as the former allows for far more Shen Qingqiu villain shenanigans, while the latter would have a lot more of the Princess comically throwing herself at Binghe only to be ignored (something I struggle to see Ning Yingying doing). Of course, since Binghe is meant to have a harem anyway, there is no reason Airplane can’t have gone for both versions (to Peerless Cucumber’s great disdain).
For the combined version, Cang Qiong and Huan Hua are rival kingdoms that were actually one kingdom in the distant past.
(For some added gravitas, Yue Qingyuan, the Old Palace Master, and Su Xiyan can all be direct decedents of the final Sultan to rule before the kingdom was split in two. The original Luo Binghe marrying both sultans’ daughters, and uniting the kingdoms once again, could then be a matter of destiny).
In the original story Binghe would have won over the Little Palace Mistress and her father first, only for Shen Qingqiu to hear of his good fortune and steal away the magic lamp. Shen Qingqiu still uses a wish to snatch away Luo Binghe’s wife and palace, but rather than dying when Binghe recovers it, he manages to escape back to Cang Qiong.
As the Palace Master is still furious about the kidnapping incident, Binghe finds himself temporarily exiled until he can recover the escaped villain. Luo Binghe heads to Cang Qiong chasing after Shen Qingqiu and the roughly Disney based plot proceeds from there.
Now regardless of which way the original story went, Shen Yuan’s transmigration screws it up royally.
Thanks to Shen Qingqiu having accidentally seduced our dear protagonist, Luo Binghe doesn’t care to marry any princesses. The complete lack of princess seduction screws up the various lamp stealing plans found in the original book.
It’s not like Shen Qingqiu can trick Binghe’s wife, the Little Palace Mistress, into handing over the lamp if Binghe never actually marries her, nor can he have guards toss Binghe into the sea on the pretense of him “bothering” princess Yingying, when Binghe ignores her the whole time.
Shen Qingqiu does his best to create his own, improvised lamp stealing plans, but they seem to annoy Binghe more than anything. Luo Binghe very much prefer if Shen Qingqiu would direct all wishes to him personally. If he really must have the lamp, Binghe could be convinced to hand it over… as a wedding gift!
These are all my thoughts so far. If anyone else has their own ideas, or is inspired to make a proper fanfic along these lines, I’d be delighted to read it!

Shitty comic transmigration, fake white lotus!SJ AU
There were servants, and silk, and sunlight.
"Good morning, Young Master Shen. Did you have a good rest?"
And there was this comic.
"...Mmh, yes. Thank you."
The comic told a tale of romance and triumph over lofty class disparity and illustrated, at one point, the bedroom of the main antagonist--the treasured son of a merchant so wealthy that his political clout sometimes outweighed that of the nation's Emperor's. That bedroom was the quintessential embodiment of that power, sculpted out of pale birch, marble, and imported ivory. It was dustless and glowed with the gentle warmth that only the magnificently wealthy could afford.
"Where would Young Master like to take breakfast today?"
Shen Yuan's attention lingered on the intricately pale room surrounding him, gaze filled not with covetousness but with mild exasperation.
"Right here is fine. Ming Fan?"
"Yes, Young Master?"
He managed to turn the twitch of his lips into a smile when the servant answered to the name. Alright. Alright.
"Wasn't there a super expensive tea gifted to us recently? I'll have that please."
He could deal with this.
//
Shen Yuan's general opinion on the comic was that it was a damn shame how it played out. He'd been ready to look past the uninspired and vague setting and all the tropey character executions because of one thing--that truly brilliant kernel of an idea at the very heart of the story.
What if the white lotus main character was acting all along?
What if, in the classic tale of the saintly poor underdog defeating evil aristocratic entitlement to secure his place on a royal throne, the underdog was every bit as manipulative and nasty as his antagonists?
Enter Shen Jiu, street rat and dreamer of grandeur far beyond his station. Enslaved at a young age, Xiao Jiu was one day suffering yet another very public and humiliating dressing down when Young Master Shen happened to be dining in town. Irked by the noise, Young Master Shen had in turn publicly humiliated Qiu Jianluo, Xiao Jiu's master, which Qiu Jianluo could do nothing but take given the difference in their stations. Of course, later that day, Qiu Jianluo took all his fury out on Xiao Jiu, a session of brutal torture that ultimately became the last straw. Xiao Jiu killed Qiu Jianluo, burned down the Qiu estate, and escaped to the Capital. He found grunt work for room and board at one of the Shen Empire's pig farms and for legal ease, took on the Shen surname.
Then he began scheming. His target was Young Master Shen, who by all accounts was careless with his privilege at best, destructive at worst. Shen Jiu may carry scars from Qiu Jianluo's whips, but he attributed them to Young Master Shen. How was it that some people could be born into nothing but wealth, comfort, and luxury, while others had to suffer the burden of their existence? Why did Young Master Shen get the banquet halls, the expensive robes, the handsome Crown Prince fiance while Shen Jiu got beaten, used, and thrown away?
Shen Jiu decided with the taking of his surname that he would usurp all that Young Master Shen had for himself. Why not? Had Young Master Shen done anything to deserve his privilege? Would anything Shen Jiu do make him undeserving of that same privilege, more undeserving than Young Master Shen?
That was the bit of the story that got Shen Yuan hooked.
The rest of the comic, unfortunately, was seemingly dedicated to undermining all the murky ethics and tangled potentiality of that single bit. After the reveal of Shen Jiu's true nature (in chapter three--that should've been Shen Yuan's first clue that the pacing was going to fail him), the narrative quickly devolved into recycled harem dynamics and tired romance tropes. Poor Shen Jiu was given nothing but a few ominous panels of him smirking past a veil of tears, and Young Master Shen was nothing more than an automaton set to rinse and repeat Humiliation Plot A, B, or C, and get humiliated in turn by a member of Shen Jiu's sparkly boy-harem following a timely rescue of Shen Jiu from that plot.
To say that Shen Yuan had been disappointed would be an understatement.
But that didn't mean Shen Yuan wanted to be transported into this story and take the place of Young Master Shen, way past the point in the story where he'd invoked Shen Jiu's ceaseless retribution. He had actually always rooted for Shen Jiu; as a fuerdai himself, Shen Yuan had been morbidly invested in Shen Jiu's plot to yank this Young Master Shen from his high horse and drag his body three times around the city walls to boot. It was far from sainthood but would it have been wrong? Shen Yuan wanted to know.
...He wanted to know a little less, now that it was his metaphorical corpse on the line. Or perhaps real corpse--there had been a line implying Young Master Shen's suicide at the end of the comic. Forgive Shen Yuan if he wasn't so keen on fulfilling the role of Shen Jiu's punching bag.
So what was he to do? Assuming the worst, Shen Jiu had the protagonist halo and Shen Yuan couldn't just be rid of him. Hug his thighs? No no, from what Shen Yuan knew of Shen Jiu's backstory, their dark protagonist was a hundred percent the type to take every advantage he could from Shen Yuan's capitulation. What Shen Jiu wanted wasn't just the riches, after all, but Young Master Shen's psychological destruction. The moment Shen Yuan started begging for mercy, Shen Jiu wouldn't let him stop.
That left only one option: play Shen Jiu's game all while not worsening Shen Jiu's resentment toward him until he could convince Shen Jiu that destroying Young Master Shen wasn't what he truly wanted. That had to be it, right? Yeah yeah, he may have to take some pain to absolve Shen Jiu's old and frankly warranted grudge (stupid cocky Young Master Shen--couldn't he have just bought and freed Xiao Jiu and called it a day?!), but surely at the end of it all, Shen Jiu's character arc was about building his own life back up from ashes and finding true emotional fulfillment? And romantic love? He had all those pretty-boys dancing around for his attention after all.
All Shen Yuan had to do was ensure Shen Jiu proceeded down that narrative path, and maybe squirrel away a rainy day fund he could take on the run, just in case his father's trade empire truly had to collapse. Shen Yuan hardly needed ivory and marble. A nice little house with all the necessities for life would do.
His mind made up, Shen Yuan stood with a self-affirming nod. Ming Fan immediately clapped his hands.
"Bring them in!"
Servants swarmed with five sets of luxurious designer robes, dripping in rich colors with jewelry in jade and precious metals to match. Shen Yuan blinked, and blinked some more.
Ming Fan, reading his hesitation as dissatisfaction, quickly explained, "that damn sewing house wasn't able to finish the vermillion one in time tonight, but they assure it will be ready in time for the imperial banquet. Would Young Master like me to go 'persuade' them to work faster? That vermillion truly was amazing on Young Master--"
"No, Ming Fan, these will be fine," Shen Yuan absently interrupted. He'd zoned out for the majority of Ming Fan's explanation as to what these outfits were even for, but Shen Yuan had enough context clues to guess he was prepping for a banquet. Hang on, a vermillion designer gown unfinished for some reason? Oh, this must be the banquet where--
Shen Yuan considered the options before him with a little more intent. He thought about color theory. And symbolism.
"The white one with the pale green," he decided. The servants holding the pieces he did not choose quickly filed out, leaving only the garment that Ming Fan was now lifting.
"Excellent choice, Young Master," Ming Fan gushed, smoothing a hand over the fabric and bringing jade piece after jade piece up against it. There was a jade-handle paper fan among the accessories and Shen Yuan picked it up, intrigued. "Young Master will look like a veritable--"
"White lotus?"
Ming Fan nodded enthusiastically, and Shen Yuan hid a chuckle behind the fan. Well. His end goal was Shen Jiu's absolution and happiness, but it didn't mean he couldn't have some fun with irony on the way there.

Talk about the beautiful scholar and parrot in shiny feathers more.
(beautiful princess, knight in shining armor.)
How many times has birb!Shen Yuan acted as a knight and shining armor only to land himself another princess scholar of a husband in his harem?
(In fact, a good portion of Shen Jiu's spy network is composed of Shen Yuan's harem members who don't live on Cang Qiong, but do visit the sect pretty frequently.)
[More in the #shen qingqiu has an emotional support parrot and hijinks happen au]

I know for the harem member au a lot of people were like "all the wives keeping shen yuan away from binghe to protect him" but I think occasionally they just have to do the opposite for the sake of self preservation
Bingge comes home and one of the ladies is like "aww fuck he got the Fortnight Straight Boner Venom and now he's gonna be hard for 2 weeks." Then everyone's like "do our pelvises want 2 weeks of zero reprieve..." then they collectively agree they're gonna grab Shen Yuan and toss him in front of Binghe
Listen. If all the women in the harem join up they can provide for the relentless demand . But. But if it's just shen yuan. He can also satisfy Binghe alone for 2 weeks straight without Binghe wanting anyone else. So it's really a matter of "87 women have absurd back pain for weeks or only 1 twink has several near death experiences during their backbreaking sex". Ethically they MUST throw shen yuan under the bus. His one sacrifice will help more people

So im in the Shen Yuan Shixiong AU server and we’re all making scum villain self inserts and this one is mine, their name is Yoali(like me lol) and their chinese name is Wang Yewan 王夜晚, 王 meaning King(like my first name) and 夜晚 meaning night(yoali means night in nahuatl)
Character backstory under the cut
Nickname (if they have one): Wanwan, Wan jie or Wan xiong(teehee nonbiny) Age: 22 Height: 5' Eye Color: pale yellow Hair Color: white Interesting Characteristics: an arm sleeve tattoo of quetzalcoatl that helps them summon calm rains, moles all over their body, curly hair and a weird red birthmark on their arm. Weapon: sword named heishi 黑石(obsidian) and sometimes a macuahuitl(a sort of mexica sword) Clothing (if they wear more on their disciple robes): traditional mexica clothing specific to the jalisco region, sandals, they like wearing dark clothes when outside of disciple clothes Peak: Qing Jing Family Members: "demon" older sister named Mixtli(cloud), chinese name Wang Duoyun (多雲)(duoyun meaning partly cloudly), pretty chill. human(?) mother, quetzalcoatl father Character Background: they are a "demon"! oops!(but not really) but unlike their older sister, they look very human because of their human mother. they arent exactly a demon, they are the daughter of quetzalcoatl, so thats why their sister looks kinda demon-y. their mother left the triple alliance(the actual name of the aztec empire) with both them and their sister and ended up in fantasy ancient china. in the pidw, their older sister was part of binghe's harem, in svsss she is just chillin with her wife, her three kids and also her mom and messes with locals by making it rain only over them. yoali tries very hard to keep their divinity a secret because their sister looks like a demon, and they are scared that one day they will end up with "demonic" characteristics that will make their peers hate them. they are very interested in art and love to paint.
This was copypasted from the servere
I chose Jalisco style traditional clothing because my dad’s side of the family is from Jalisco, the choice wasnt random.

✩ WEEKLY FIC ROUND-UP ✩
A collection of fics I’ve read (/reread) and thoroughly enjoyed in the past week-ish from all kinds of fandoms and genres.
ATLA
Icarus, Point to the Sun by aeoleus
Zuko tries.
Agni, he tries. Uncle wants so desperately for him to do the right thing, and he wants to, he does, he does, he does-
So when the Water Tribe girl looks at him with wild eyes, begging for help, and Azula raises one eyebrow with a sneer, Zuko chooses.
Azula’s scream of anger when he blasts a fireball in her direction is almost worth the twenty Dai Li agents that immediately surround him.
(or: Zuko is taken prisoner by Azula in the catacombs. Turns out, being kept miles away from the sun isn't so great for your bending.)
Like a Baby Shirshu by mindbending
Despite the fever and the barely-healed burn scar, the boy’s fast. June avoids his blade, but still he jams his limbs into her, desperate to scratch and kick and bite off her hand…
(Just like a baby shirshu, spitting poison from behind the bars of its cage. The comparison shouldn't be so endearing.)
Or: the AU where Zuko flees the palace after his Agni Kai, running right into Nyla and June.
How Dare You? by Reaganrose1513 (Note: Based off this post I made a month back)
They sent a child. They wanted him to marry a child the same age as his own kids. What in the name of Tui and La- How dare the? How dare they!?
OR: The 100-year war is more of a 95-year war, end earlier for reasons that don't matter right now. After a few years of negotiations, Firelord Azulon wants a marriage alliance between the Chief of the Southern Water Tribe and a member of the Fire Nation royal family. No one really wants this, but after five years, Hakoda can tell his people are tired and want to move on, so he's willing to do what it takes to make peace happen. That is until the Fire Nation sends him a child to marry, and there is no way in hell that is happening.
Harry Potter
The Foundations of Family by waitingondaisies
Ron and Hermione spend a lot of time alone together while Harry is off at Quidditch practice. On one such occasion, Hermione finds herself revisiting her childhood dream of playing house with her friends.
BNHA
Apex Predator by silver jackdaw (idyII)
Every single school had one: someone at the top of the food chain. An acme. Someone who could do things under a teacher's nose, escape consequences, and terrify other people. Someone who looked down on everyone else like they were prey. An apex predator. And Izuku couldn't count on teachers and adults to protect anyone. Even a hero school wasn't safe from the phenomena. When Izuku gets to Yuuei, he's determined to find out who it is and ensure they can't hurt him or his new friends.
...and accidentally, in the process, becomes the apex predator (though he is mostly unaware of this, and uses it for good. But still, people are terrified of him.)
(Or, a snowball chain of events wherein Izuku's paranoia leads to 1A becoming a family, everyone in school being in debt to him, Aizawa adopting everyone in his sight and slowly growing closer to committing acts of arson, the League gaining redemption and working with the resident Apex Predator to combat the Hero Commission whilst gaining technically legal identities, and Hawks finding a family. Hurt people help other hurt people, and they're all doing their best. Some laws may or may not be broken in the process.)
but I have promises to keep by SpiritusRex
“I’m fine.” Midoriya repeats, calmer after a few large, uneven breaths, “This is i-important. This is more important than me.”
“Midoriya,” Shouta starts.
“We’re wasting t-time.” Midoriya cuts him off, “I have a list of Sensei- I mean- I- All for One’s current quirks, and I n-need to tell you them.”
(Late at night, Aizawa Shouta gets an unexpected phone call.)
TMA
Like I Was Inside by voiceless_terror
Tim decided to do what he did best- roll with the punches. Even though the punch, in this case, was his prickly cactus of a boss suddenly deciding he needed affection like a dying plant needs sunlight.
In which Jon encounters a cursed object, and the rest of the archival crew suffers for it. If you can call it suffering.
Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System
by omission by Yuu_chi
Shen Qingqiu had always hoped that if the chance arose he’d be able to tell his friends about his life as Shen Yuan on his own terms. It had never even crossed his mind that the day would come where his deepest secret would be outed in front of his husband, his friends, and his entire sect.
I Wish You Were My Husband by Feynite (+ podfic)
AU based on The Dreamer in the Spring Boudoir (familiarity with that story's not required).
Wherein Shen Yuan transmigrates into a harem intrigues romance novel (gay edition), Yue Qingyuan really fucks up, Liu Qingge is not suitable for his job, and no one even remotely sees Luo Binghe coming.
He Was Made For Untidy Rooms and Rumpled Beds by Bluethursday
Shen Qingqiu kind of, sort of, does not have the same modesty standards as a xianxia novel set in some form of Ancient China? He also hates the heat, who knew right?

I try to keep my random plot bunnies on twitter where they won’t disturb anyone, but in the categories Things I’m never gonna write, I spent way too much time thinking about this AU where Shen Yuan is the canonical Shen Qingqiu and a member of Luo Binghe’s harem, and Shen Jiu is the transmigrator who isn’t gay and wants none of that, thank you very much, not that that’s gonna give anyone flashbacks.
So I don’t believe bisexual harem stories are a thing, but they are now and Proud Immortal Demon Way is one. The whole thing is less dark than the original version.
He’s pretty much got Shen Jiu’s backstory but with some adjustments. Basically instead of the Qius dying, Qiu Haitang realises what is happening to him and frees him by taking him to Cang Qiong Sect for the entrance test, where he gets accepted. This has the effect of him reuniting with Yue Qingyuan much earlier, and of him being aware that it’s not all peaches and roses for his childhood older brother either. Because of all that and because Shen Yuan isn’t Shen Jiu, they make up earlier. Because of the genre change, they make out too.
So by the time Luo Binghe gets accepted in the sect, they’re a couple, to his and Liu Qingge’s constant disappointment. Luo Binghe begins on his starter wives, Ning Yingying, Ming Fan and the likes. He’s still young, so he doesn’t act on his crush on Shen Qingqiu or anything. Because Shen Qingqiu is nice here, Luo Binghe isn’t bullied. He’s just really into getting stronger for the sake of impressing his love interests/keeping those he cares about, since he has a lot.
Everything goes pretty well until he falls into the Abyss. Obviously, Shen Yuan wouldn’t push him in. The Abyss is pretty hardcore though, at least as bad as in canon, maybe worse. By the time he comes back, he’s fully into megalomaniac mode, as I guess Original Luo Binghe was. He doesn’t have many people to get revenge against beside demons, so all he wants is the strength for something like this never to happen again. And everyone he cares about by his side, so that he won’t spend another five years alone (besides his demonic love interests, Sha Hualing, Mobei-jun, etc. ).
So he starts his seduction campaign, and because he’s still a stallion protagonist, no one stands a chance. He obviously steals Shen Yuan from Yue Qingyuan. Include here all the drama that provokes. It doesn’t matter much in the end because Yue Qingyuan will end up a part of the harem, if only to be close to Shen Yuan. So will Liu Qingge, because why would he be included in the book if not? In the future, there might be various threesomes, because don’t forget what kind of book this is.
In parallel to this mess, you have Shen Jiu, Straight Man™, who was just reading this book for shits and giggles, honest, and didn’t want to transmigrate into one of Luo Binghe’s husbands, thank you! And he doesn’t want to be Yue Qingyuan’s lover either! But he’s stuck into one of the love interests, and the protagonist’s halo can’t be thwarted that easily! As long as the protagonist wants him, he’s doomed! He’s just gonna have to be enough of an asshole for the protagonist not to want him. But not too much. He wouldn’t want to turn into, oh, he doesn’t know, a human stick.
So transmigrator universe!Binghe gets a shock when he ends up in Original Binghe’s world, where Shen Qingqiu is married to him and all over him. He wants to stay here, thanks, where he has all the members of his harem but his Shen Qingqiu not only isn’t an asshole, he’s Perfect.
Original Luo Binghe cannot wait to get back to his world. As far as he’s concerned, this is the low-budget version. He wants the shizun who’s nice and into him and possibly open to threesomes.
Oh and because being Yue Qingyuan is suffering, transmigrator universe!Yue Qingyuan has no idea why his long-time lover just became an asshole and rejected him out of nowhere. Maybe possibly him and Liu Qingge get together out of sympathy, I don’t know. Why isn’t this a ship anyway?

I am glad you liked it!!! Really, it’s so nice to know people actually read my ramblings !!! ❤️
Things in this AU will go pretty accordingly to PIDW canon (pre Abyss at least) except with a less dark Binghe and no papapa with random girls
Binghe will still suffer a lot in the Peak but since now he has SY he is more… tame ?? with the revenge thing? He just doesn’t care about being treated like shit, as long as SY stays by his side
He was so happy and oh so relieved when the whole Meng Mo thing went down and he discovered his demon heritage and not only SY still accepted him but also said he should give his all in training with the dream demon
SY meanwhile is planing and preparing (not like he has anything else to do, “life” as ghost can be kinda boring) for the Abyss, he sees daily how awfully Shen Qingqiu treats Binghe and the System already confirmed he can’t interrupt the Abyss Arc
So he stays by Binghe’s side, motivates him to become strong (to be able to stand the hardships he will encounter before becoming the OP Protagonist) and does his best to learn about different kinds of demons, their weaknesses, specially the ones he read about in the novel and knew Binghe would find/fight
He doesn’t have a body, can’t really interact with objects (like books and manuals) unless *inserts System voice* User is willing to spent 30 B-Point to be able to read the chapter “Fantastic Demons and where to stab them” from a book one disciple left laying around
While Binghe trains, Shen Yuan learns
(This also lead to some very enthusiastic slightly one sided conversations where Yuan goes on and on about some random demon he read about that day while Binghe just looks at him like he is the most precious thing in the world)
Then comes the Immortal Alliance Conference
As always, Shen Yuan is by Binghe’s side, invisible and unheard by all but him
During the whole thing, Yuan is by Binghe’s side, when he rescues would-be harem members (and oh, SY thinks, Binghe must be embarrassed to make any moves while he is here, yes that explains why he is not shoving his tongue down Qin Wanyue’s throat - SY wouldn’t spot a crush on him till it kissed him directly), when Binghe fights (and Yuan remembers him of the weaknesses of that one and how their organs may be used for this or that)
Shen Yuan is also by Luo Binghe’s side when he is standing in the edge, almost falling in the Abyss, with Shen Qingqiu pointing a sword at him and then shoving him
But… Shen Yuan is not by his side when he falls. Nor when he reaches the Abyss.
Not that he doesn’t try but there is some kind of… invisible wall?
A notice from the System explains
“The Abyss Arc can not be interfered with. The Protagonist must go thorough the Abyss alone and acquire Xin Mo for the progression of the plot.”
…what kind of shitty last time rule is this?!??!?
Before Shen Yuan can even process what is happening, the System sends a new notice, saying it would go in hibernation.
Ok. What about Shen Yuan tho?
For the next years, Shen Yuan roams. No one to talk to, no one can even see him, he is just… bored.
(He is also acting like a grieving wife after being so suddenly separated from Binghe but let’s be real no surprise here)
He goes around this world, observing people, creatures, demons. He specially likes the human towns, he can get inside anywhere, see artists performances, hear some gossip, and when he tired of that city, he goes to the next one.
He isn’t sure how much time has passed but for sure some years already? His roaming leads him to a city called Jinlan.
He stays there, he sees the first cases of the Plague, he recognizes the signs of what caused it but he can’t interfere, it’s almost like he is a reader again, just watching the plot unfurling but unlike in a book, watching as dozens of people die in such a terrible manner, there isn’t anything entertaining here
He hears the people from the city commenting on how some cultivators from Huan Hua Palace came to try and help
He also hears that Cang Qiong Mountain sent some of it’s Peak Lords here
He goes to check out who from CQ came and makes a face at spotting Shen Qingqiu as one of them
He can’t do anything really serious against him but… maybe some annoying haunting? That he can certainly do
System: would user like to spent 10 B-Points to interact with object [Shen Qingqiu’s favorite fan]?
SY: hell yeah, I’m gonna drop this in the river- wait a sec, when did your hibernation end?!?
He gets his answer not from the System but when he is following Shen Qingqiu (who is looking for his fan lol) around and they come across the Huan Hua Palace disciples
And there is Luo Binghe, all grown up and… looking ready to kill SQQ on sight
Wait, wait, Binghe! I know you hate him but aren’t you supposed to ruin his reputation and get even more people on your side first?!? Where are your amazing acting skills?!?
(I will continue this later in another reblog, for now have this! Hope you like!)
ok ok but imagine
If something went wrong when Shen Yuan’s soul was supposed to enter Shen Jiu’s body
I always thought that the reason the System picked SY’s from a whole other world wasn’t just bc it wanted him to fix the story but because Shen Jiu had actually died way too soon and without him the story wouldn’t progress, so it picked the most similar soul out there, Shen Yuan, and threw it inside a body whose soul had already left
BUT WHAT IF
Shen Jiu soul had been a little stronger, just enough to survive the qi deviation, but the System had already picked SY soul
Without a body, his soul automatically seeks the power source of the System, of that whole world, the protagonist: Luo Binghe himself!
That’s how Shen Yuan ended up haunting Luo Binghe
Ofc things didn’t go well at first, we have a very confused just-turned-ghost Shen Yuan trying to understand how the fuck is LUO BINGHE from that trash novel here in front of him!! On the other side we have Luo Binghe who really doesn’t know what to do bc this ghost Knows him??? Also it’s not like it’s a vengeful spirit or anything evil, the ghost it’s actually… Really kind to him?
Then their adventure together begins, their “I feel bad for your shit life” and “I don’t really want to exorcise you” feelings turn into a companionship
SY tries to help Binghe improve his cultivation (as much as he can from being invisible and snooping around the peak after any text/manual he finds) in preparation for the Abyss while also being the only person in Binghe’s life to not treat him like shit bc damn that kid really got the Sad Backstory shit going strong
On the other side we have Binghe giving his all in his studies and training to show off make SY proud (and if he also tries to look for a way to get a body for his crush, I mean, ghost friend well-)
Not really sure where to go with this story but some more points:
- No one can see/feel SY, even powerful cultivators, bc of some protection the System put on him so he wouldn’t interfere (more than he already has)
- the System can’t really give SY missions since it’s not like he can do much without a body, most missions are related to getting closer to Binghe
- not a point, I just think it’s funny Binghe now has 2 “I don’t have a body” teachers, SY and Meng Mo
- So story happens bla bla bla Binghe finds out about the Sun Moon Dew Flower and growns a body for SY
- Yay they can finally hold hands!!!
- SQH just panicking in the background during this whole AU bc damn it he did everything RIGHT why was LBH SO DIFFERENT AND WHERE IS HIS HAREM

Can you imagine harem member Shen Yuan not only helping out his fellow wives while his husband is off-charming someone else but also acting as their therapist in a way? Imagine if he grew up with a sister or sisters in this world as well and became very skilled in braiding hair and knowing what to do when that time of the month comes along. Part of the reason he married Luo Binghe was because his sisters were not interested or in love with someone else.
The fact that he remembers the little things and will do his best to help their families endears him to many that they eventually start to pity him.
Porr Shen, forced to be in a loveless marriage and having to watch his husband bring home a new wife all the time. At Luo Binghe will spend time with his wives and provide them pleasure but poor A-Yuan! They can't help but hope for a divorce but what will become of Shen Yuan after that? Suddenly Shen Yuan keeps hearing about how kind and thoughtful his fellow wives brothers/male cousins are and being shown their portraits.
oh my god binghe would actually go on a warpath...
this actually reminds me of something i said before ↓ (omegaverse, royalty au, kind of ooc because it was just for the sillies)

Sweet idea for the Harem Member Shen Yuan (with the potential for jealous LBH)
What if when omega's went into heat, they don't necessarily need an alpha to have sex with them to get them through it. Omega's who aren't married will usually cuddle in their nests with those they trust, usually other omega's. At the palace, Luo Binghe can't be with all the omega's during their heats and there are those like Shen Yuan who have all but been discarded or Luo Binghe has forgotten them. I know you mentioned the concubines having some assist them through this possibly but I doubt Luo Binghe would let anyone touch what belonged to him in that way.
Now imagine Shen Yuan noticing this problem and, having come from a household where he used to cuddling with his family members during his own heats, helps take care of his fellow omega's needs (not sexually). He learns what their favorite food to eat during this time is, provides them with tea and a warmed cloth bag of rice to help sooth their cramps, figures out what nesting material they prefer, and helps slip them scented items from family members. His fellow omega's are of course wary but warm up to him once he also helps out with seeing their family members and handling the the problems in their towns. At some point, some trust him enough to enter their nest where he just helps braid their hair, cuddles with them and reads them some of their favorite novels. It leads some them to view him as family and Shen Yuan's robes or sheets will sometimes vanish only to end up in another omega's nest. Of course some use the excuse that their child finds his scent soothing so that's why they have it but Shen Yuan is just happy to help.
So naturally some of them start to return the favor when Shen Yuan's heat hits. They quickly discover that while Shen Yuan is great at taking care of others he is terrible at taking care of himself and will push through the pain. The man will stay up well into the night, burning up with heat just to try and solve the problems he's been presented. They've got it narrowed to a science where they have a whole routine to get Shen Yuan into his nest to rest for his heat and rotate who helps take care of them (they are not above using their children because they realize how quickly Shen Yuan caves to their children's sweet requests to cuddle while in he's in heat.)
Now imagine Luo Binghe, who is unaware any of this has been happening for months, has grown to tolerate Shen Yuan but still isn't sure if he's attracted to him. He runs into Shen Yuan one day clearly in the early stages of heat, looking exhausted and thinks "ahh he must be trying to seduce me." But before he can reject this offer, one of his wives runs up to Shen Yuan and thrusts a child in his arms.
Child: Yuan Gege, Fei Fei wants cuddles!
Wife #474: Forgive me my lord, this humble one will assist Shen Yuan back to his room. (Turns to Shen Yuan) How many times have we told you to take it easy! You can worry about the grain problem later. Let's get you back to your nest now. We've already prepared your favorite blankets and Níng Xīn found a novel by that author you like.
Shen Yuan just nods distractedly as he scents the child in his arms, inner omega purring at the fact they are caring for one of their pack members.
Luo Binghe is going to have a hard time courting Shen Yuan, especially he thinks he can just share a heat with him.
This is so cute omg 😭❤️ shen yuan dealing with baby fever by cuddling a bunch of binghes kids.... ahhhhh
Personally if it was me I'd wear a comically long trench coat and shen yuan would think I'm three kids pretending to be an adult and let me into his room and then I'd go aha I actually am an adult! And kiss him so much
