Hand Studies - Malevolent

Hands are John / Parker / Arthur / Kayne ^_^

I was doing some hand studies and decided to practice what I learned! I'm actually immensely proud of this. Also very excited to be working with screentones! I feel like they have such perfect vibes for Malevolent art, very classy, very detective :D

(fun fact: i tried to make the hands look like full grown man piano player hands but i was using my own hands as reference, which are very much Not That. I think it turned out well regardless, hehe )

PROMPT TEN - "Away from Home"

                Bradley’s a little incensed that they chose Jake to help run the bar rather than him. Sure Jake might have actual bartending experience because of his parents owning a bar, but surely family should count for something right? Now Mav and Penny are away from home for two whole weeks, sailing around a tropical island for their delayed honeymoon, Amelia gone to stay with her father.

                “Don’t make me cut you off Rooster…”

                “I’ve had one beer…” Bradley protests, lifting his head up from where he’d been letting it rest on the bar, doing his best to ignore the tackiness of the varnish under his fingers and cheek. “You should know, you gave it to me.” He’s tired; the nightmares are sporadic, but he’d had one last night and he’s seriously considering going home for a nap.

                “And I note you still haven’t paid for it.”

                He lets out a long-suffering sigh and reaches for his phone, motions for Jake to ring him up so he can tap his phone to the payWave reader, because yeah, maybe going home for a nap is the best thing to do. He’s on leave, and without the job of helping out at the Hard Deck he’s at a bit of a loose end.

                “Rooster Rooster Rooster… you should know better.”

                “What?” Bradley asks, looking up from his phone where he’s been looking at picture that Mav had sent through. It looks nice.

                “You put your cell phone on the bar…”

       ��        “Hangman…” Bradley groans.

                “Mmm?”

                “Come on. Don’t do it…”

                He watches as Hangman looks around the bar, there are only four others there, including Jimmy.

                “Just be glad it’s only the lunch time crowd…”

                “You call this a crowd? Anyway, what if I refuse to pay? Going to carry me out of here?”

                “Rules are rules Rooster. That’s what you’re always telling me.”

                “And you choose to follow them now?”

                Jake smirks, but for the briefest of moments Bradley would swear he sees a flash of uncertainty in Jake’s expression, but it’s gone and Jake looks his usual confident self.

                “How about I overlook your transgression…”

                Bradley rolls his eyes.

                “Yeah, what’s it going to cost me? A round of drinks?

                “No. Have dinner with me.”

                Bradley opens his mouth.

                Shuts it again.

                Opens it again, if only to make breathing a bit easier. What the fuck. Studies Jake’s face; that hint of hesitancy is back, Jake is watching him, one eyebrow quirked, trying to look completely unconcerned. Successful for the most part, except he’s chewing the corner of his lip, which Bradley has come to learn is a tiny tell of Jake being nervous. Not that he’s been paying that much attention.

                “Me?”

                “You see anyone else around?”

                “You want to have dinner with me? Just me? Why?”

                The look Jake is giving him is one he definitely recognises, the one that he thinks Bradley is an idiot.

                Maybe he is.

                “I’d love to.”

                The brief look of shock on Jake’s face is quickly shuttered, replaced with a pleased and cocky grin which he’s far more familiar with. He realises he’s maybe got an opportunity to learn all of them.
