Just remembered it's Mother's Day (for those who celebrate), and I have to call out the best teenage mothering in Austen. Mrs. Morland, trying to fix her melancholy, teenage daughter without knowing at all what is the matter:

Catherine’s disposition was not naturally sedentary, nor had her habits been ever very industrious; but whatever might hitherto have been her defects of that sort, her mother could not but perceive them now to be greatly increased. She could neither sit still nor employ herself for ten minutes together, walking round the garden and orchard again and again, as if nothing but motion was voluntary; and it seemed as if she could even walk about the house rather than remain fixed for any time in the parlour. Her loss of spirits was a yet greater alteration. In her rambling and her idleness she might only be a caricature of herself; but in her silence and sadness she was the very reverse of all that she had been before.

For two days Mrs. Morland allowed it to pass even without a hint; but when a third night’s rest had neither restored her cheerfulness, improved her in useful activity, nor given her a greater inclination for needlework, she could no longer refrain from the gentle reproof...

People criticize Mrs. Morland for this scene, but I admire her. She notices something is wrong, she doesn't push right away. What she is worried about isn't the idleness, it's the silence and sadness.

Despite having ten children to worry about, Mrs. Morland noticed, she cared, she tried to help. Even if she got it wrong, that's good parenting.

Mary McGinnis 

The protective mother of Terry McGinnis and Matt McGinnis and ex-wife of the late Warren McGinnis, Marylyn McGinnis was an astronomer at Astro-Tech.

Mary met and married Warren in their younger years. During their marriage, Warren was unknowingly injected with a nanotech solution programmed to rewrite his reproductive material into a copy of Bruce Wayne's. The solution was created as a part of Amanda Waller's plan to craft a successor for Batman. Almost a year after the injection, Mary gave birth to her son, Terry, who was genetically her son with Bruce.

When Terry was about eight years old, Mary accompanied her son and husband to see the movie, 'The Grey Ghost Strikes.' Unknown to the family, an assassin lurked in the parking area, preparing to kill both Mary and Warren and thus directing young Terry onto the path of vengeance.

This assassin had a change of heart and could not go through with her task. Hence the couple's lives were spared and, not long thereafter, Mary gave birth to her second son, Matthew (biologically the second son of Mary and Bruce).

Some time after Matt's birth, Mary and Warren divorced for unknown reasons, after which Mary took custody of Matt while Warren took Terry. When Warren was murdered, purportedly by a gang of Jokerz, Terry moved back in with Mary and Matt. She did her best to reassure Terry that Warren's death was not his fault.

Soon after Terry's return to Mary's home, Bruce arrived offering Terry a job as his personal assistant. Initially, Mary was enthusiastic about her son working for Bruce. That enthusiasm waned, however, when Terry began staying out late more often than not, usually to the detriment of his schoolwork. She was not aware that Terry’s ‘work’ for Bruce was actually his operating as the new Batman.  

Actress Teri Garr provided the voice for Mary McGinnis with character first appearing in the debut episode of Batman Beyond, ‘Rebirth.’

Otose: One of her characteristics is her big heart and her willingness to adopt strays. That's how she ended up with a NEET, a thief and a robot as children. Reason for losing points: she's an old hag.

Hachirou's Mother: Had an arc dedicated to her and her motherly attitudes. She's very caring and very annoying, and didn't mind that her son had many cosmetic surgeries. Reason for losing points: Her moles aren't buttons that can make her disappear.

Tae: She had to take care of Shinpachi when she herself was still a child that needed to be taken care of. Judging by the result and how much he loves her, she did a great job. Reason for losing points: Her poisonous food.

Saigo: After the death of her wife, she decided to adopt the role of father and mother, changing not only her appearance, but also her lifestyle. Reason for losing points: Uses a fundoshi.

Kouka: Little by little, she sacrificed her life for her children. Even when she was sick, she tried to provide the best life possible for Kamui and Kagura, who loved her deeply. Reason for losing points: She dies.

Tsukuyo: She declares herself one of the 49 mothers of Seita and was willing to die for him and Hinowa's happiness. Later she adopts the role of aunt or older sister. Reason for losing points: She fed the boy a kunai.

Pinko: Although her son isn't biological and she became a mother through an arranged marriage, she was willing to kill for him. Reason for losing points: She's isn't real.

Mitsuba: We don't know much about her circumstances, other than that she'd to raise Sougo since she was young and she was sick, but they clearly loved each other very much. Reason for losing points: Sougo.

Hermit's Mother: She cares enough about her son to play along with all his idiocies, even though he's a mess as an adult. Reason for losing points: Has a beard.

Terakado Ichi: She's Otsu's mom. Reason for losing points: Threatened to kill her daughter if she didn't break up with her boyfriend, posing as a crazy fan.

Geno sighed, exhausted, slumping on the bed. As great as it was to be back on the fully repaired Star Road, it could be draining. There's more surveillance to be had and more wishes to be granted. And it's been a struggle to keep up with everyone he knew and loved, which made his days even more taxing.

Heck, it was almost last minute that he found out about Mo- err, the higher authority being invited for a competition!

He closed his eyes, curling up. He wished that he could have made a lot more time. Then, maybe, the higher authority wouldn't have been so lonely. But that was his responsibility and his responsibility alone.

"Geno," A soft voice interrupted his thoughts. "Geno, sweetie."

"Hm?" He replied, half-asleep.

"Oh, sorry." Rosalina smiled gently. "Did you have a rough day?"

"Oh, no," Geno smiled, trying to stifle a yawn. "It was...just an ordinary day today.."

"I see," Rosalina chuckled. "Well, would you like to tell me about it?"

"Hmm," Geno sleepily hummed, his head on her lap, leaning into her soft touch as she stroked the top of his head. "It wasn't anything too special. How's that tournament thing?"

"It's been going well," Rosalina gently replied. "Believe it or not, there are a lot of people who'd like to meet you."

"I'd like to meet them too..."

"Well, I'll let you take a nap. Then, I'll make you some nice chocolate chip cookies. Would you like that, Geno?"

Geno didn't answer, for he was already asleep. Rosalina smiled, giving him a maternal kiss on the head. She tucked him in and went towards the kitchen, intent on making him his favorite sweets.
