The X-Men have a lunch meeting with the parents of "Jean Grey" (she's actually Madelyne Pryor) in the X-Mansion. Then, Mr Grey notices that something is wrong with the TV and before Rogue could warn them, the explosion happens. The crackling TV and explosion is caused by none other than Siena Blaze, Hazard and the Marauders who came to the X-Mansion lawn for a rematch. The X-Men fight the villains while Beast and "Jean Grey" help to evacuate the parents out of the mansion. While everyone else are fighting, Wolverine notices that Sabretooth is not with the Marauders. It turns out that Sabretooth is in Sinister's lab, sitting out from the fight because he is waiting for Siena, Hazard and the Marauders to weaken the X-Men so that he could finish Wolverine or any X-Men off if he has the chance.

Back to the mansion, the fight is too evenly-matched for the X-Men and the foes. Once the civilians are evacuated; Beast and "Jean Grey" join in the fight to help the X-Men. As Arclight creates an earthquake to throw Morph, Harpoon, Wolverine and Cyclops off, Cyclops notices the underground pipe and tells the X-Men to knock out Arclight before she makes a gas explosion. Arclight gloats until she gets telepathically knocked out by "Jean Grey". However, "Jean" nearly collapses from overexerting her telepathy because of her pregnancy. The X-Men eventually work together and they switch their opponents. Jubilee switches from fighting Prism to fighting Hazard. Wolverine defeats Prism by using his claws because physical attacks are Prism's weakness. Bishop shoots Harpoon down after switching from Hazard. Rogue partially absorbs Gambit's explosive powers and moves in to pounce on Siena Blaze and scares her by threatening to blow her up. Jubilee, Morph and Storm work together to defeat Hazard. Since Riptide is too distracted by Beast, Gambit manages to knock out the Marauder from behind. Cyclops uses his optic blast to knock down Arclight.

What if...? S2 E2 Review:

Man, Asgard cannot catch a break lmao. How many times has it been destroyed now? Poor Thor.

And speaking of Thor, I love him here. When he first showed up and knocked Quill out he looked menacing as hell! Honestly his appearance here is proof you can make him both goofy and badass at the same time without assassinating his character *cough* Taika *cough*

Thor also being the character who is in the most teams is funny to me.

Also really nice how both Hank and Quill got closure by learning to care about others, I really liked his parental side of Hank instead of the usual grumpy old man he is in the movies. Pretty sure he just went on and adopted the kid, probably a good thing that Quill has a father figure now that isn't a megalomaniac. Hope and Quill siblings real!

Can I also say how sad it is that Howard never gave up on Bucky? He kept hope that his friend was in there somewhere, even when he told Peggy to move on... Which makes what happened in the main timeline all the more heartbreaking. (Also this episode implies that Peggy and Howard always knew Bucky was turned into the Winter Soldier or at least they had suspicions that it was him) and he's free at the end so hopefully he'll end up in a better future than the main timeline.

I enjoyed this more than last episode and I definitely would like to see more of the 80s Avengers.

Final Score: 9/10.

“Woah! Where am I?” MCU!Jason exclaimed looking around the room, running his fingers through his hair.

616!Jason looked up from reading his book and scoffed with a smile. He shook his head, “You must be the alternate universe version of me, huh? I heard about this from Tony. Definitely cleaned shaved…sadly.”

MCU!Jason looked up, raising an eye, “Who are you?”

“Did you not just hear what i said? You’re me. And I'm you, wasn’t that obvious?”

“Uh, sure, I saw weirder crap, might as well…what do I call you?”

“Depends what are your nicknames? I met a version of me once who’s nickname was just Grey, like our middle name. Unfortunate.”

“Uh, okay, sure. I’m JJ, that’s what everyone calls me.”

“Well, JJ, nice to meet you. I’m Jason. Now that’s clear out of the way, any similarities like origins I should know about?”

JJ hummed and shrugged, “I was born and raised in the USA, but my mother was Italian and my father is Russian. Dottie is my older sister, i hate her–”

“You weren’t born in mother russia like Dottie?!” Jason exclaimed.

“What? No. We were both born in Oklahoma, wait what do you mean like Dottie?”

“Yeah, she’s my half sister from dad’s first marriage in russia, left Dottie behind to train in the Red Room like Natasha Romanoff. He met mom after a one night stand in the USA, took her overseas to live in Russia and 9 months later we were born.”

“...huh?! Were we a mistake?!”

“No, I was a mistake. You just happened to be damaged from staying in the US for too long.”

“Okay, rude. Anyways! Please tell me, we eventually were out of luck and were brought to the Red Room to train but decided to stay with Ma instead?”

“That was an option?”

“YES THAT WAS AN OPTION!” JJ exclaimed with a sigh and pinched the bridge of his nose, “Dad wanted me to follow in his footsteps and be like Dottie, but after training there, I decided to screw it and stay with Ma.”

“That was a convent thing to do. Well, I trained in Russia for 5 years with Dottie, she stayed longer which is where we met Natasha and I went on to be an agent before returning home.” Jason said proudly. “But then the war happened, yikes.”

“I-? You met Natasha? She wasn’t even born yet! She was born in the 80s. We were born WAY before that!” JJ yelled in confusion. “Wait, how old are you?”

“109. Sometimes I lie about my age and say I'm 38 for the youngsters, you know who it is.”

“Huh? Dude, I’m 104! Not going to lie, you look amazing for your age…I'm impressed.”

“Well, a bunch of time travel, lightning strikes, and being blasted with the cosmic cube a few times can do that to man.”

JJ blinked at how fast Jason explained that it was nothing. JJ was only hit once and stayed young forever! He didn’t have any other things happen to him, aside from the accident, that allow him to stay young forever. What the heck?! He shook his head and decided to move past it.

“Okay, okay, so you mentioned the war. I’m guessing that’s where we–I mean, you, met Howard Stark, Peggy Carter and Elizabeth Stark, right?” JJ asked intrigued, hoping for a good answer.

Jason raised an eyebrow and snickered, “Yes and no. I met Peggy and we tried to kill each other. Howard was no fun at first and well, Elizabeth and I banged in a closet while i was undercover for the SSR.”

“YOU WHAT?! You and Peggy were what?”

“What? You and Peggy didn’t have a cat and mouse chase or something, where you do bad crap and she tries to find you but you escape thing?”

“NO MAN, I DID NOT! I met Peggy, cause i was trying to do some actual good and joined the SSR. We became good friends.”

“Huh? Would’ve been easier than us playing the whole cat-mouse thing for over 8 years. I only then joined SHIELD, after the whole ‘my father came back from the dead’ thing.”

“Dad what?! Dad died from drinking when i was 22!”

“Lucky, mine faked his death and went off to marry some random chick. I think he married Melina and they ran a whole section of HYDRA together.”

“I’m scared to ask what happened to our precious Italian mother…I’m guessing you didn’t like Howard or something? Cause he’s my friend.”

“Oh nah! He and I became good friends, really good friends.”

“Oh thank goodness! And Elizabeth?”

“Lizzie? Oh! We got married.”

JJ grinned knowing that him and his wife Elizabeth were together in every universe, he was satisfied with that. But he felt like there was another part of the story.

“And?” JJ asked suspiciously and crossed his arms. “We got married when?”

“We got hitched in Los Angeles, opened a Production Company together. Stark-Woods Production, we made a shit-ton of movies!” Jason replied with a grin, sounding way too proud of that. “We stole the idea from her brother Howard, he was pissed.”

JJ blinked in surprise realizing how rich he must be. He listened to his counterpart talk all about his production company, that they still work for SHIELD, how Lizzie stayed young forever like him due to a freak accident. Heck, they both died a couple of times, but were brought back to life by Tony and their children–wait children?! He knew he was uncle to basically everyone but still!

“WAIT HOLD IT! Children?!” JJ said, holding up a hand to stop his counterpart from rambling and scoffed, “I know I got my nephew Tony and godchildren…”

“Nephew?” Jason questioned, sipping his drink as the realization hit him. “Oh! You’re from an universe where Tony is our nephew and NOT a son!”

“Our what now? He’s Howard’s kid.”

“Well, yeah no, there are universes where me and Liz are Tony’s biological parents. And we have like 2 other kids after him.”

“You met a version of me who is Tony’s father?”

“Yes I have, Tony has a great life there. Me and Liz make beautiful children.”

“Well obvious. Wait, so is he your nephew or your son?”

Jason simply smiled, “Both. After Howard and Maria died, we got adoption papers ready for him. So he’s mine and Lizzie’s nephew, but legally also our son.”

“I–! You didn’t wait until a year later to adopt him, did you?!...honestly, we were always better parents than Howard ever was, so good on you.” JJ replied impressed. “...wait you said you had more children…?”

“Yeah…HYDRA took mine and Elizabeth’s DNA, then soon created children. It was a whole alternative universe thing, like a whole 12 issue comic book run. Kinda funny actually, having two lovely 5 year olds show up at our home claiming to be our children.”

“TWO?!”

“Why do you sound so surprised?”

“Cause two kids just showed up at your door and you didn’t question it!”

“Says the guy who will adopt a young avenger and wrangle the rest like it’s a normal Tuesday? Liane calls you ‘The Young Avenger Wrangler’ for god’s sake!”

“Did you..?”

“I know shit.”

JJ pinched the bridge of his nose and huffs sighing deeply. He grumbles taking in the information that was just provided, but before he can ask anything else Jason speaks up.

Jason smirked and crossed his arms, “Why do i have a feeling you were a superhero or something at one point? Archer? Guns? Spy?”

“How the..?” JJ said looking up sharply and huffed, “Yes. Yes, I am. I was a part of SHIELD just like you, stupid. Even wore a damn dark olive green hood and became an archer a couple of times in the past.”

“Yeah, obvious. The 80s Avengers. A version of me was Hawkeye before Clint ever was..well, sorta. But he wasn’t call Hawkeye or anything, that’s his thing–”

“The 80s Avengers? What kind of crap is that? There is no such thing as The 80s Avengers. The Avengers were formed in 2012, but Nick Fury.”

Jason’s eyes widen and cough his drink. He knew of The 80s Avengers, on Earth 97, he met that version of himself before. He also knows that The Avengers, depending on the earth, were formed by different timelines and different groups. But he hasn't heard that it was formed by Nick Fury?! At least not until now.

“Nick Fury? Like Nicholas J. Fury? The same guy who’s grandfather fought in the war back in the day with Captain America?” Jason said, trying to understand this whole thing. “They were always with him?”

JJ nods as if it’s obvious and smirks, “Yeah, Nick formed The Avengers in 2012. I was there the week he did so.”

“Usually it’s Hank and Tony who formed The Avengers…even Cap did once!”

“Hank? As in my old friend, Hank Pym? He–that’s a joke right?”

Jason gave him a look that meant he was serious. In his universe, Hank and Tony formed The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, as the group started forming right after that. They recruited Janet Van Dyne, Bruce Banner, Thor, Clint Barton, T’challa and the rest just rolled in over time. Even The X-Men and Fantastic Four would team up with them!

JJ nods, taking in his seriousness and stands there in surprise listening to him. He was a bit envious about that part, usually in his universe The X-Men never tended to team up or anything, only ever visited The Tower. Technically, his world was a mess as well, period.

Jason realized that if Hank wasn’t part of JJ’s version of Avengers, that meant that they never had Ultron to deal with. There was a sense of peace and a bit of envy for his counterpart.

He smiled to himself and even joked, “At least you had no Ultron, right?”

“What do you mean?” JJ asked, pouring himself a glass.

“Well, clearly you never had to deal with Ultron since Hank wasn’t there. So you didn’t have to deal with him trying to take over things. Then Hank going a bit nuts, Janet being mad at him, T’challa getting hurt, and a whole bunch of other things.”

JJ sipped his drink and mumbled, “Uh, we did have Ultron.”

“How?” Jason said, pausing mid drink and raised an eyebrow, “Hank wasn’t there!”

“...Tony.”

“TONY?!”
