This is a mini guide I've put together for some common found herbs, spices, & flowers that are organized By different types of Intentions. Hope this helps everyone!
My heart is full. My spirit feels warm and held ♡ My ancestors and I shared pan de muerte and cranberry juice! Final result of my Dias de Los Muertos altar setup. The orange candle is intended to represent calendula flowers, which I unfortunately didn't grow this year. I dressed it in a pomegranate and vanilla essential oil blend and the loose herbs that I chose. Of which included Rose petals, Mugwort, Jasmine, and Cinnamon ♡ I also used small chunks of pink Himalayan salt to represent the 4 directions, so my intentions would flow clearly through each direction 🌊 The seashells are for the same purpose, as well as to honor the environment that has nourished and provided for me and my ancestors 🐚 If anyone has any questions, my asks are open!
This flower is more than the inspiration for the new name of this blog & shop, it is also a medicinal plant!
Years ago I came across calendula in a book about gardening and soon came to learn about the myriad of benefits from natural insect deterrent to skin healing powers && I was amazed.
From then on planting calendula in gardens has become a tradition. My mom and I even began to make salves & other herbal ointments with the calendula blossoms from our gardens.
And when pondering a new name for our online shop Calendula came up again & again. The plant we use for herbal remedies and that we see in our gardens year round seemed worthy of so much praise to rename this page ... Calendula Craft!

In this blog, we’ll break down the top 5 ingredients that should be on your radar when shopping for organic bar soaps.
My name is MK. Everything I do is part of my homesteading life style. I love to read, write, sew, bake and create new things every day. I have raised my daughters to be strong, independent young women and my eldest daughter has just gifted me with my second grandson. Those kids inspire me every single day to make their world a better place and make non-toxic and all natural products. There is something cathartic about making soaps and therapeutic products and supplemental tinctures to take charge of one's own health. I love to write poems and silly stories for my kids and grandkids but I also like to write serious short stories for adults. things that make you think, things that make me think and ideas that. I hope to bring to fruition one day soon. I recently moved and the huge back yard was grossly overgrown and a total GOLD MINE of wild plants, local native plants and herbs that I researched and discovered to be medicinal or edible in nature. I have used them to make many products that -- Spanish Needle (Bidens alba) , Ohio Spiderwort, Wild Yaupon Holly (Yaupon Tea), mosses, flowers for essences, etc. I've collected seeds and plant clippings that I hope tp one day move to my own piece of property one day soon. I want a tea garden, an herb garden, a veggie garden, to raise my own animals. all because I'm tired of the factory farming in this country that is putting my family's health at risk. I will find alternative methods for. caring for my own health and well-being. I hope you join me on this journey and I hope we can share advice and recipes! #naturalliving #homesteading #homegrown #healthyliving #organicandnontoxic #familyfarming #notofactoryfarming
Yesterday I spent the day having a beach visit with a good friend 💗 The weather was good but the water was pretty cold (almost like we were at the beach in November lol) We found some Coquina clams (including THE biggest one I've ever seen irl!!) to make broth with for miso soup. And then to clean and use their pretty shells for making jewelry ofc! I also found some really good shells and shell fragments to use for jewelry making too! Sometimes I feel like the ocean's energy really stays with me after I've left her, and I always love that feeling. This has been one of those times 🌊
Welcome to my blog: The Garden Witch of Anson & Derby!
I’m excited to share this space with you, a sanctuary where the magical and the mundane meet.
Here, you’ll find posts on my spiritual and crafting journey. I’ll post about my kitchen/garden witchcraft, herbal gardening, and all the crafts I dabble in (sewing, embroidery, painting.. etc). Things that bring a bit of enchantment into my everyday life. I’m no expert and these are just my own personal thoughts from my own personal journey. So please be kind and know this is a safe space for all.
This journey is different for everyone, my way of doing things might be different from yours and someone else’s. Again this is a safe space for all.
Feel free to fill my inbox with questions!
In addition to the blog, I also run a small shop called Anson & Derby, where I create and sell handcrafted polymer clay jewelry, paintings, and sewn items. Each piece is made with love, care, and a touch of enchantment, reflecting the themes you’ll find in my posts.
I believe that everyday items, from the food we prepare to the accessories we wear, can carry meaning and magic, enhancing our connection to the world around us. Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I look forward to sharing more magic with you!
