these card pouches and zipper pulls are made out of salmon leather! the skins were acquired from a sushi shop and i tanned them in a super-concentrated tea tanning solution.
the card pouches are sewn with hemp thread as a nod to hemp fishing nets.

Genuinely amazing what a little TLC and a solid knowledge base can accomplish.
This old girl hasn't spun in probably nearly a century. The couple who sold it to me told me his parents got it at an antique shop in 1953. It sat as a piece of decor in the parents house since then. After a few failed attempts and a lot of elbow grease (and literal grease - er spinning oil, same thing) I got the stuck pieces off and some wood glue to put pieces back together. And .. she works! Kinda. I need to do a deep clean of the shaft on the flyer as it's covered in sticky old oil still and needs to be cleaner for the bobbin to take the fiber freely.
I've named her Ol' Roz which is short for Rozhanitsy. The Slavic Fates, essentially.
The lady who sold me it is over the moon I got her working and sent a small video and photo of the yarn I've spun on her so far.
Also pls, don't @ me about the horribly dressed distaff... I've never dressed one like this before 😂

she/her cross stitch pattern 🏳️‍⚧️
hii, welcome to my blog!! my name is samantha (she/her) and I'm a textile artist who loves all-things cross stitch and crochet. I recently decided to start selling my own cross stitch patterns online as I want to share my crafting skills with the world! pictured is a cross stitch pattern I designed to post online when I came out as a transgender woman. click the link to find the pattern on my etsy shop, where you'll also find more queer cross stitch pattern designs!!
I'm also a fiber jewellery artist and create conceptual crochet wearable art, so be prepared to see lots of squishy and playful textile jewels and objects on this blog!! you'll also see crafting experiments and other crochet projects i'm working on.
I'm always looking for more crafting friends, so feel free to DM if you wanna talk about anything textile crafts related! especially if you're queer/trans!!
thank you for reading and I hope you have a fabulous day!! 🏳️‍⚧️✨

Ok solarpunks, help me out here. These are my favourite trousers, I’ve probably had them five, six years, maybe longer? They’re fraying on the thighs, as you can see. How do I, a person with a fine motor skills disability and zero handicrafts experience, go about mending this?

I'm a beginner knitter and this is my first shitty pot hat :3. It's misshapen here and there, there are more than a few things wrong with its thread but I've learned a lot making it and I'm proud to have actually finished my very first knitting project, despite the hurdles I faced. I definitely got the taste for it and I'm already planning my next one!

Pattern credit: @allegroart here on Tumblr!
I love this pattern so much! Bug Fables is probably my favorite game I played in 2020, and Leif is just a fabulous character. (If you enjoyed Thousand Year Door, PLEASE go play Bug Fables, it’s MADE FOR YOU)
size 4 yarn, size D (3.125 mm) hook. I didn’t measure him, but you can see my hand for scale in some of the photos.
this was my first time using proper crafting wire to make an amigurumi posable! The instructions said you can also put wire in the wings and the antennae but I couldn’t figure out how to do that, so I just put it in the arms and legs. Still works okay, I think! (I’ve used pipe cleaners and scrap wire and stuff before but I’ve never used proper wire before.)
anyway just for thematics, here’s also the cover of Team, This One’s Stronger! I recorded last year.

In Calabria weaving has its roots in Magna Graecia, the civilisation built by ancient Greeks on Italy's southern coast. Still, until fifty years ago many Calabrian families owned a hand loom at home and self-produced most of their fabrics.
