first finished knit of 2025 is tiny little barbie socks in the yarn i bought the other day w my yule giftcard :) i started off shaky to knit in this small scale (ive done 1 project, years ago, that was even smaller, but i felt very rusty going into this) and the first sock has some minor mistakes bc of it, but the 2nd sock went by really easy and fast so i feel happy and confident about it now!

it fits regular + curvy barbie & dream besties daisy so it should fit most barbies! vague instructions under readmore:

i used Filcolana Alva yarn which is a thin alpaca yarn, i guess its lace weight? (not a pro at yarn weights, but its thinner than fingering weight) its always best to knit a test swatch before committing in case ur tension or yarn weight is different.

i knit it flat on 2mm needles and its just a tube without heel or any other shape, bc i wanted to start simple. i also didnt bother changing needles for the rib but thats an option (then prob co more st, and dcr to 16st after rib when switching to 2mm)

co 16st on 2mm needles, 3 rows k1p1 rib, knit 21-22ish rows stockinette, then dcr 2 each row (i did one k2tog/p2tog on each end) until 8st remain, then bind off. stitch up with needle or crochet needle good side to good side, turn inside out, u got a tiny barbie sock

these card pouches and zipper pulls are made out of salmon leather! the skins were acquired from a sushi shop and i tanned them in a super-concentrated tea tanning solution.

the card pouches are sewn with hemp thread as a nod to hemp fishing nets.

Beta Pokemon! I made this awhile back last October, but I'm still proud of it. I haven't done embroidery in a long time, but I think it came out okay, I may just turn it into a patch for my jacket. I've never done pompoms before, but I like how this came out. I might make one for my brother, he loves Kotora.

Genuinely amazing what a little TLC and a solid knowledge base can accomplish.

This old girl hasn't spun in probably nearly a century. The couple who sold it to me told me his parents got it at an antique shop in 1953. It sat as a piece of decor in the parents house since then. After a few failed attempts and a lot of elbow grease (and literal grease - er spinning oil, same thing) I got the stuck pieces off and some wood glue to put pieces back together. And .. she works! Kinda. I need to do a deep clean of the shaft on the flyer as it's covered in sticky old oil still and needs to be cleaner for the bobbin to take the fiber freely.

I've named her Ol' Roz which is short for Rozhanitsy. The Slavic Fates, essentially.

The lady who sold me it is over the moon I got her working and sent a small video and photo of the yarn I've spun on her so far.

Also pls, don't @ me about the horribly dressed distaff... I've never dressed one like this before 😂
