I love the longstanding tradition between vampires and cameras/mirrors.

The earliest publicly available photographic process is known as the Daguerreotype - a process in which silver-plated copper was treated with certain chemicals which would make it light sensitive. This is where the term “exposure” comes from, literally a photo’s exposure to light. In Daguerreotype, the sheet would be exposed to light for as long as was deemed necessary for the desired exposure to take hold. In modern day DSLR, this is similar - a fraction of a second for brightly lit subjects, and multiple seconds for dimly lit subjects (or for other desired effects).

Vampires are allergic to silver due to its believed holy properties, especially in earlier vampire folklore - this is the whole reason photos can’t be taken of them, and they can’t see themselves in mirrors. But there’s no silver involved in the photographic process of phones or DSLR cameras, unless you count the circuitry which is less inherently involved in the print itself and more so allows for the technology needed for the camera. And most mirrors nowadays are made of aluminum.

There’s no silver involved in the process of taking a photo, or looking in a mirror. Which implies that vampires just take their personal vendetta against mirrors and cameras SUPER seriously.
