Round 3, Match 2: Kendal vs. Hand of Malenia

Kendal

Wielder: Vash, later Kendal

Kendal was a sword created for Vash (forged by the smith god Tahraim), god of the city that shares his name, from starmetal and a blue gem. Leery of an imminent battle with the storm god, Tynan, Vash sought a sword that would defeat a storm, but instead received from the smith god an ingot of starmetal and a blue gem, as well as advice to “make the materials his own.” In the battle with Tynan, Vash loses an eye and an arm, and then reforms his body to incorporate the materials he was given–the starmetal into an arm, and the blue gem into an eye. This allows him to summon starfire, destroying Tynan’s clouds and winning the battle. Vash then has the smith god forge him a sword of those materials, and he names the sword Kendal, meaning “right hand.” The sword retains the ability to summon starfire. It then falls to the second inhabitant of Vash’s body, the main character of the story, who names himself Kendal after the sword.

Shout out to my friend who, as an attempt to get me into Elden Ring, once gave me the controller and said "you wanna try this boss?" So while I'm still figuring out the controls, I enter a very beautiful chamber, and I think "that's a neat looking boss!" Malenia the Blade of Miquella evaporates me on the spot.

I beat Malenia and the final elden ring boss the other night 🥹🥰😭 The emotions this game evoke in me are crazy. I love it so much 😭😭😭

i truly think there is something quite compelling about miquella abandoning all of his fears at the culmination of all he's worked for and in that moment imagining malenia- fearless malenia- and all his doubts & vacillations- steadfast malenia- like malenia being what miquella is trying to reach in becoming a god. and of course the other way around- "he is the most fearsome empyrean of all". i think when faced with a loveless miquella and miquella's shed love, malenia would not even think twice. she would choose miquella. Ugh god. and as miquella shed parts of himself, so to does malenia (although i think millicent is different from trina. a new form of life. the swamp of aeonia as a giant receptacle/rot crucible- she's like the rot equivalent of a jar gestalt baby. plants growing in pots lol). forever mirrored. and when miquella is god for a moment, malenia is god in an age that will come in time as the rot spreads further and further past the burning wall into limgrave. Gah!!

Wondering if Messmer was just the only one to help/sympathize with Marika on the shattering of the elden ring. His relation to snakes, fire, etc, could just be that he turned himself into a living weapon taking parts of all of the enemies of the Erd Tree he could find. Momma's boy headcanon tbh.

with Fromsoft's track record of portraying motherhood (*stare at Bloodborne*) i simply refuse to believe they made the Mom™ in Marika and won't expand on her further or won't have a kid that is just...insane over her. prayer circle for that theory to be supported in canon because i have ART to DRAW if true !
