MY HOMAGE TO THE KING IS COMPLETE

i finished this on November 21. It took me three weeks. three. weeks. and it was worth every minute. i wish i'd recorded the hours. unfortunately my ability to remember to start a timer was as good as my ability to remember to post this.

Spreading it out over the course of a few weeks was pretty great, though. I picked stippling because I knew that it would offer better gradient control (and oh BOY did that pay off); it's also very physically taxing, normally, but my wrist is fine. Probably. people don't ever get spinal or joint problems from long-term poor care and maintenence right

things that were last-minute additions not included in the sketch: the background veins/curtains, the stitches, the audience, the literal actual fire. how much did i mean to add but forgot, and how much did i just straight-up add afterwards? the world may never know, because i sure don't!

Overblot Bois and Skully x Fem Reader. SPOILERS FOR THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS event. Especially THE END.

The ups and downs of being in a place like Halloween Town was quite the experience.

Despite the detour you encountered.

Like being nabbed by Skully for witnessing him kidnapping his dear Skellington and holding you and Grim captive in a literal walking bathtub to Spiral Hill. Yet he was the nicest kidnapper there ever was.

“Please enjoy these and make yourself comfortable, my love.” Skully’s kiss on the lips made you too tongue tied to eat the snacks he left behind. Leaving Grim to eat them instead.

Thankfully it didn't take long for a rescue. As in Sebek, Jamil and Leona dueling Skully as the others came to your side, totally put off by how unharmed you are. Immediately gobsmacked as you ran to a blushing crying Skully having a meltdown over his own personal issues and hugging him out.

If his idol and you could console him on his limited views on this spooky holiday and forgive him so easily, then of course he'd start bawling for joy.

“There there you precious boi.” You're cooing as you hug him and brush his white locks, Skully’s wet face nuzzling your flushed neck, to the flabbergasted faces of his rivals for your affections. And in that moment he won.

Finally the time had come to throw the yearly spooky celebration.

Hearing all your fellow schoolmates singing a tune tickled the back of your brain at the familiarity of said song.

“Sweets for you, my greatest treat~” Riddle showed up in the walking tub with Lock, Shock and Barrel, handing you a pumpkin faced treat with a smooch to your cheek.

“Let me fill your dreams with frightful delight~” Leona purred in your flushed ear, embraced you from behind as he kissed the top of your head from above, with Zero the ghostly dog bopping you on the nose with his tiny glowing pumpkin one.

“Your screams are music to my ears~” Azul's octo strength made it that much easier for him to twirl you around in his arms, dancing across the town, pecking your forehead.

“I'll be there for my lady fair.” Jamil assured as your hair like his and Sally's blew from the chilly winds; the autumn leaves flying on by, as he dove in to smooch your nose.

“Ride with me in the dead of night.” Hugging Vil securely as he modeled with ease on the flying broomstick gave you quite the view, turning around a bit to leave his kiss on your other cheek.

“My heart screams for thee!” Idia presented a heart in a jar to you given to him by Dr Finkelstein made your own heart want to pop out in fear and yet it was oddly sweet, especially cause your zealous boi smooched your neck, possessively marking your neck.

“Our Halloween Queen.” Malleus easily swoops you atop the Mayor's car he was driving at the moment, carrying you bridal style, gifting you a full on kiss to your lips, smiling mischievously against your own.

“In this town we call home, everyone hail to the Pumpkin song.” Holding your gloved hand in his own, you and Skully waved along with everyone else as Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King, rose from the town fountain, pride emanating from him as everyone cheered at the finale.

Too bad you all forgot about it.

Until you were back at school, when Headmaster Crowley presented to you all a very rare portrait of a NRC alumni from centuries ago. Aka the King of Halloween that made such a holiday what it is today in all of Twisted Wonderland.

Despite no memories of the strapping young man, you all felt drawn to him and his influence, inspired to make this the best Halloween yet.

But while everyone else was getting pumped up by it, you were feeling odd. Like you were missing someone you had never met in the flesh and bone.

Seeing your admirers blushing red at your costume, appearing in a rag doll inspired couture dress with a ribbon collar to boot, it was time to begin Halloween Week.

And yet, for some reason, you felt eyes on you throughout the whole week. Tingly touches to your hands that felt like brushing kisses. Even on All Hallows Eve, the ghost-like press of the lips all over your face made you on edge during the float parade.

Running by the portrait in the midst of your anxious worried state. Those eyes following you unbeknownst to you all. With the moon full and the party still going strong in the distance, you felt drawn to the tombstones littered around Ramshackle Dorm. Instinct, another voice, your feet moving on their own will, call it whatever you will, for you moved to a particular worn-out grave. Atop a hill.

Watching the spectral form of the King of Halloween himself appear before you coming out of the grave, bowing graciously before you, as he offered his skeletal gloved hand out to you, his teary eyes and smitten smile unveiled to you, it all made a sudden wave of emotion hit you hard in the feels.

“Y/n, welcome back.”

While the mind was still fuzzy of your recollection due to the magic of the book, something else more primal awoke in you the moment your eyes locked onto his. Your feet moved before your mind could.

As physically as one could embrace a ghost, you still felt traces of warmth amiss the cold. You were surprised to feel physical arms hugging you in return. The bridge between the living and the spirits was blurred tonight so …

The longer you two stayed that way, the more the fog in your brain began to depart. The flash of your last moment together made you realize the reason for his choice of words.

“Skully.” You softly wept, clutching onto him tighter, when he cupped your face to kiss away the tears. His face, his mouth, they all feel so warm. “You're really here.”

“It's been far too long, my love.” He confessed.

That prolonged deep kiss began ebbing away the mist. Gently licking your bottom lip to get you to open. Smiling smugly as you returned it sincerely, humming at your hands running through his wispy hair. His phantom self became solid and lean, heart beating right up against your chest, his scent became more potent as they were the sweet and spicy of Autumn nature.

“I'm home.” He whispered against your luscious lips, nuzzling his nose to yours, smiling all lovesick at your giggling self.

The ghostly trio residents watched on with hearts in their eyes as you got lost in bliss, slowly dancing with the founder of their spooky dorm. Engaging in lip lock once more. Floating off the ground, basked in the stars of this special spooky night.

For you, his Queen, danced with him, your Pumpkin King.

Kellet is the largest of the five great continents in Melethya. It is also the most hostile, filled with magical creatures who are not keen on sharing their spaces. Now, you must form a party with creatures from different species who despise each other and try to make it work. The greater good calls for heroes, and you are those heroes… sort of.

Choose from 6 unique races, each with their own abilities and appearances.

He tends to judge others quickly and is even quicker to dismiss any threats. With a strong sense of pride and stubbornness,

At that moment, his playful smile transforms into a serious frown. Veldon has always made it a point to protect his cousin, even from her own father. Veldon takes pride in his appearance and engages in regular training for two main reasons: to ensure his cousin's safety and to maintain his attractiveness to potential suitors. He stands at a height of 5'9'' (1,75).

Kaellë Lorthan, SHE/HER, 27 years old, demisexual. SALT ELF. Kaellë is a timid salt elf who is fearful of her own shadow, but possesses exceptional healing skills. MCU Phase One

The main events take place in December 2013.

October 12, 1964 - Trevor Slattery lands his first role (Liverpool Royal Court Theatre).

October 6, 1968 - James Rupert Rhodes is born.

1986 - Slattery's mother dies while he is working on a rejected CBS pilot in the US.

Before 2000 - Pepper works with Aldrich Killian.

December 31, 1999 - January 1, 2000 - scientific conference in Bern, Switzerland. Tony, Yinsen, Dr. Wu, and Aldrich Killian meet for the first time.

2007 - Birth of Harley Keener's sister. Their father leaves the family.

2008 - Aldrich Killian injects himself with Extremis.

Note: it could also mean "5 years and then a few more years without them", but given the next date, it's unlikely that the time gap between injecting himself and testing others was significant. And I'll remind you that by the time of the test on volunteers, Killian already looked healthy.

June 25, 2009 17:30 - Project Extremis Injections tests Phase 1. The first human death as a result of Extremis explosion.

2011 - The Roxxon Norco scow spilled a million gallons of crude oil off the coast of Pensacola, and President Ellis let the culprits off the hook.

April 2, 2011 - Killian records a video of Trevor as "the Mandarin" somewhere in the Middle East.

2013 (most likely no more than a few months before the main events) - Chad Davis explosion in Rose Hill, Tennessee.

December 15-16, 2013 ~11 pm - 2 am - Tony's first night without sleep. He (most likely) woke up from a nightmare and avoided going to bed from then on.

December 17, 2013 - An Extremis soldier exploded at Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait.

December 18-19, 2013, ~11 pm - 2 am - Tony implants 48 micro-repeaters for Mark 42 into his body and watches the Mandarin's TV broadcast.

Yes, I determined the date by the phase of the moon.

December 19, 2013 - presentation of Iron Patriot to the public.

December 20, 2013 - Tony and Rhodey at Neptune's Net restaurant. Tony experiences his first anxiety attack. He returns home and orders a custom rabbit for Pepper.

December 22, 2013 (Sunday):

4 pm - Killian's appointment with Pepper at SI.

I don't know why SI works on Sundays, guys. It must be illegal.

4:25 pm - Tony calls Happy via Skype, and Happy tells him that Killian is showing Pepper his big brain.

Note: wrong day of the week on the phone screen. It was Sunday, not Tuesday.

~6 pm - Tony and Pepper's "date". They go to bed, but are soon awakened by Tony's nightmare.

Night - Happy follows Savin to the Chinese Theater, where he is injured by another Extremis explosion.

Tony spends the night at Happy's bedside in the hospital.

December 23, 2013 (Monday):

Morning - Tony challenges the Mandarin upon leaving the hospital.

~4 pm - Savin attacks the Malibu mansion.

5-7 pm - Tony arrives in Rose Hill, Tennessee, sends a message to Pepper, and meets Harley Keener.

Pepper stays at the ruins of Tony's mansion. She finds one of Iron Man's helmets with the message from Tony. She and Maya head to a hotel.

8 pm - Tony and Harley go to downtown Rose Hill to investigate the explosion.

~8:30 pm - Savin and Brandt attack Tony. He kills Brandt and knocks out Savin. Tony almost dies sacrificing himself to save EJ (Harley's bully), but Harley saves him.

~11:30 pm - Tony hacks into AIM system.

Killian takes Pepper hostage. His agent captures Rhodey.

December 24, 2013:

Early morning - Tony makes weapons to storm the Mandarin's mansion.

Afternoon - he reaches Miami and storms the mansion. He meets Trevor and learns the truth about the Mandarin, but Savin knocks him out.

Tony wakes up tied to a bed in Maya's lab. Killian kills Maya.

Killian and Savin take the Iron Patriot suit. Tony escapes and reunites with Rhodey and Trevor. They head to Roxxon Norco.

Evening - Savin captures President Ellis. Tony kills Savin and saves the people falling from Air Force One.

Night - the Battle on the Norco.

December 25, 2013 - The Vice President and Trevor are arrested.

Last days of December 2013/First days of January 2014 - Happy comes out of a coma.

Happy still has bright bruises and scratches on his face when he wakes up, meaning it's been less than two weeks since the explosion.

Early 2014 - Tony stabilizes Extremis and removes it from Pepper's system.

May 2014 - Tony, in gratitude, remodels Harley's garage and replaces his sister's broken watch.

Why May: Harley is still in school, but there is green grass everywhere, some flowers, and his clothes hint that it is May.

~Late May 2014 - Tony undergoes surgery to remove the reactor and shrapnel from his chest in China and stays there with Pepper for some time for post-op rehabilitation.

Note: here Tony gifts Pepper with a necklace made of shrapnel from his heart. They are still in China (Shanghai).

Why it was most likely late May: judging by the weather and clothing, it was no earlier than April and no later than September. Since Tony arranged his gift to Harley in May, it's safe to assume that he did it right before such a risky procedure as open heart surgery (especially when doctors told us his chances were slim).

Second half of 2014 - an agent of the Ten Rings takes Trevor Slattery from Seagate Prison and delivers him to the real Mandarin.

Note: Don't forget about the time a trial takes! This will add months between Trevor's arrest and the one-shot events.

Late 2014 - Tony returns to the ruins of his Malibu mansion to throw the reactor into the ocean and pick up the damaged robots.

Note: look at the plants that have grown in the ruins. It would take them about a year, or even more, to grow.

Late 2014 or Early 2015 - Tony tells his story to Bruce, who fell asleep at the very beginning.

Some argue that the events of the movie take place not in 2013, but in 2012. Why it can't be December 2012:

The movie says it's December 2013.

The Official Timeline says it's December 2013.

Logic says it's December 2013.

All the evidence aside, let's think about it for a second. How long would it take to build all these suits? In The Avengers, Tony's newest suit was Mark 7. Between The Avengers and IM3, Tony created 35 suits, and from May 5 to December 18, 2012, there were 228 days. Creating a suit would take at least several days. That is, if that was Tony's main occupation. But it wasn't. He worked on them at night, and during the day he was SI's R&D department, was working on the redesign/rebuild of Avengers Tower, and was also busy dating Pepper. We can't say exactly how many days it would take to create a new Mark, but most likely at least 10 days (nights): 35*10=350 days minimum, which he would need to create them all. In 2012 we are already out of days. So in any case we get 2013, not 2012.

While searching for existing MCU timelines, I also found this attempt at creating a timeline that went horribly wrong because the author forgot about logic and didn't calculate anything correctly. Let's take this for example, "it's 2012 because Maya said the kid is 13." How old is "the kid" if it is December 23, 2012? Well, conception would have occurred on January 1, 2000. Now we need to add 9 months, don't forget about that! We get October 1, 2000. Now add 13 years and we get October 1, 2013. Before that, "the kid" would have been 12 years old, not 13. Case closed.
