I like seeing Mitsuba's mom again, actually... I rarely like parent situations, but Iro-sensei's writing is very good haha ... the chapter with her talking to Kou and Nene, it really sticks in my mind as very good writing! Very subtle, very tastefully hinting at what it means to be 'Mitsuba' or not, the different sides of thought Nene-chan and Kou are on, without communicating that directly.

I like this application of shijima-san's 'illusions' and 'paper' ... it suits a festival very much. As a diversion, I likee... That’s a good question! He’d live with them at court, of course and I imagine he’d have a bit of a hard time adapting at first. He’s a twelve year old mortal boy in a world completely unknown to him, full of people he doesn’t know and that are so different from him.

He had his brother with him and he loves him and feels comfortable with him and Callan (maybe his dad would be there too? If Aiden is there it can only be because Milan is there as well or because he is dead)

but in the end he’d just end up being in a world where he doesn’t feel like he belongs. In other words, he’d end up feeling like Henry did in the human world. Henry would know that.

And making himself happy for the price of making his brother feel like this (miserable, even though loved, just like he used to be) would be something he doesn’t want. That’s why I don’t think Aiden coming with Henry would end quite well, surprisingly.

Sure Aiden would adapt and find friends and he for sure would be in awe of this strange world and adore his family, but deep down he’d still feel out of place.

I’ll have you know that that idea with Henry and Talon made me laugh out loud in German class xD especially since I could kinda see it happen, haha

You’re not too far off with Henry being overly protective of Aiden after they reunite. He wouldn’t want to lose him again and he feels like he needs to make up for leaving him behind so of course he has an eye in his little brother, now more than ever.

And Talon will be protective of Aiden too, in his own way. Before they (might) date he’s not only Aiden’s friend but also his guard so that’s a given.

The thought of the two having a full on “who’s gonna protect him first” battle is so funny to me. They should team up instead. Aiden protection squad for the win!

Oliver asked what colour Norm's eyes are once and the way he asked was weird enough that Norm will never let see Oliver see them under ANY circumstances.

Norm is too cheap to buy sunglasses or a sleep mask, and the bag functions as both, technically.

Norm tried to take off the bag off-screen and somehow got a papercut, and he hasn't tried again since.

Norm is afraid that Billy will doxx him. (he totally would, too)

i feel like the shirt in the pool + insecure about his gross human face answers go hand-in-hand, to an extent. also, i just really like the idea of norm being the kinda guy to wear a shirt in a pool. don’t take this from me.

also, oliver asking what color his eyes are and norm being SO weirded out by the way he asked just SOUNDS canon. oliver is forbidden from eye-sight (haha get it). so is little billy, possibly because of doxxing reasons, or because the little shit probably wants to take his EYES (as stated in the relationships section of his profile):

[grant] could i go back to my old job? i don’t know. it’d be complicated. when i needed surgery and got my diagnosis, my medical licenses were revoked, but i got some vague “just see a flight surgeon and we can review your case” explanation about it. when i emailed the, uhh, aviation administration to get more info, they basically said “haha, we don’t really know, just wait and see.” i interpreted that as “you’re toast” because ugh, dealing with them is bullshit. they’re super inefficient.

[grant] it’s very difficult to keep a license if you have anything, like, at all beyond “once upon a time i got a papercut” on your medical file. they want you out if you have a diagnosis, no matter how good you are at your job. i don’t know why, they just want you out, and they are zero help if you ever need medical help. it was probably more likely for me to keep my job and get my medical cleared when it was just ankylosing spondylitis. i am still physically capable of doing the job because i was good to begin with when i was in worse shape and didn't know what was up with me. my back always hurts but i'm not incapable. the real nail in the coffin is the mental health diagnoses.

[grant] which i understand because you have to be mentally sound but, like, i passed all my psych exams when i qualified for the job and i have a spotless record at work. i was good enough and impressed enough people to get promoted to captain at a younger age than most. but now that i have mental health diagnoses on my record...it doesn’t matter at all that i was good at my job and that i never let my personal issues affect me at work. the labels themselves are going to fuck me over.

Cos I complain a lot in this blog about Big Finish cover art despite me loving Big Finish products, let me give my opinion on all Jago & Litefoot covers.

S1 basic, you can see the clash of poor quality rip of Jago & Litefoot’s appearances from The Talons of Weng-Chiang and the ridiculously crisp pictures of Dr. Tulp and digitally created werewolf and stuff, but it is not ugly, and it communicates the inside content rather well.

S2 The same problems as above, especially the poor quality picture chosen for Litefoot drives me nuts in how ugly it is. Gabriel Sanders looks cool, tho I never imagined him looking like that based on audio.

S3 Just about the best of the early season, basically the best quality photos for Jago & Litefoot they ever had in their disposal, and that particular picture of Jago is for that exact reason reused multiple times. This one also has a thought put into composition and visual interest.

S4 I love the Kempson & Hardwick part of, just these black and white eery images, but the portraits or J&L, Leela and the Doctor are ugly as sin and I wanna rip my eyes out.

Voyage to Venus: Beautiful. This one I would buy as a poster. Sure it looks a collage of images glued together, but it fits the sort of whimsical Jules Verse - style of the story. This will clearly influence the latter half of the covers, but none of the others Make the sort of awkwardness of digital composition work for it.

Voyage to the New World: Ugly as sin. I would make a better one eyes closed.

S5 The worst quality of Jago & Litefoot portrait pictures so far, you can almost count the pixels with your own eyes xDDD Still, my favorite of the early cover by a long mile by just the trippyness of it and how lovingly their profiles combine into this psychedelic circle.

S6 Last of the old style of covers. Tries to be S3 but isn’t.

S7 First of the new, higher quality covers that have clearly gone through more substansial level of graphic design. Litefoot has been photoshopped with Homburg hat and Jago with a bowler, and that’s just  adorable and fitting their social status.

S8 My favorite of the new cover style. Quite frankly, they never came close to merging the poor references and digital mashes so well. The Scorchies are just delightfully cursed and the fire of the New Regency theatre ring lighting their heads, ah <3 I love it, I am actually making a big Jago wall decoration based out this one in particular.

S9 I really loved this one when I first saw it, but it has kinda annoyed me since... I don’t think the elements are particularly well blended together, and it kinda looks like random pictures overlayed with each other. First time Jago is pushed forwards in the composition tho, which is interesting trope that comes around - maybe as a reflection of his internal belief that he’s a protector of Litefoot haha.

S10 Same problems as above, but where as S9 was still pleasing enough to look at, this just makes me angry. And Summerton looks nothing like like I imagined either xD

S11 Second time Jago is pushed forwards. The Master looks good, so does the 6th Doctor in flamboyant but still period accurate clothing, but it’s still kinda awkward in composition.

S12 I hate it. I hate it so much. Everyone looks like a papercut out - which granted, I am willing to forgive with Litefoot, as it is the fake!Scarlet Gallery!Litefoot, but jesus no.

S13 This one I hate the most. I’ve ranted on my blog about this one in particular so many times it’s not even funny. Why is Litefoot inside a hexagon of shame? Why is Dr. Betterman there, but he’s not accompanied my Mr. Aubrey? The LOW POLY RATS. The awkward way Xiu Xiu looks straight at the camera when Jago doesn’t I hate it. I hate it so much.

Jago & Litefoot Forever: Basically just S1 redux, with same faults and benefits. Kinda fitting for something that was fairly designed as series finale.

Jago & Litefoot Revival: Cute, I love the gimmick of you having the room to choose if you want Tenth or Eleventh Doctor on the cover. Nothing much fancier than that, it’s a short trip after all.

S14 Funny thing, I had exactly the opposite reaction to this one than S9, that I really made a gnarly expression when I saw it the first time. Reusing the the same old picture of Jago they used so many times and coupling it with a picture of Litefoot, that I get feeling was some unrelated to DW picture of Trevor Baxter edited to suit the cover made me cringe. Plus the lantern is is held very awkwardly, like it has no wight at all. But somehow it’s become my second favorite of the new covers and like, maybe fourth in overall ranking. You can’t really go wrong wit blue-orange color scheme, plus all the element in it are coherent and relevant.

My top five is rather obvious, from bottom up S7, S5, S14, S8, Voyage to Venus. 

The worst of the worst are Voyage to the New World and S13, especially S13 I seriously wish they would just do a new one.

Do you think Engi would go to Medic for little injuries just to see him? On the battlefield do you think Medic would be constantly worried about Engi?

i don't think they really worry about each other! they know the risks involved with their job and they know that at the end of the day, they'll just respawn again anyways so it's really not their Biggest concern on the battlefield

that being said, neither of them can help but wince especially hard if they see the other get headshot or blown up by a stray sticky. just human nature, y'know?

that being said, if they're supposed to be working after battle (paperwork, experiments, fixing something, etc etc) engie will take Any chance he gets to come over to the medical bay for a smooch and a chat.

medic knows. and engie knows he knows. it's just a funny little thing to them now because engie knows he's welcome in the medical bay whenever he wants, and vice versa for the workshop, because they love each other, they really do, and honestly any reason to see each other is a pretty good reason in their books

Let’s say someone may or may not have read literally everything you wrote, and were wondering if you recommended any other fics or fic writers? Haha... not me...

I do!! Pretty much anyone on my FF favs page are good, but I can list a few for sure.

I love, love, love TheWritingManiac. I think she’s on both ff and ao3, in case you only use one. “when the sun came up (you were looking at me)” and “why don’t we rewrite the stars (changing the world to be ours)” are my favs by her. Super sad at times, though, but if you read my stuff, you’ll prob be immune to it lmao.

I also really like Dreamuero, who’s just on ff. My favs by her are by far Dumb Luck, Funny Business, and Entropy. Her sense of humor is seriously on point, but do be warned that her fics are rated M for the occasional...interesting scene lol. I think she always disclaims it before those chapters, and it’s not like super gross like some other authors, but just in case you were wondering.

herecomestheun on ff is pretty good too. I haven’t read all of hers, but she has a v light, fluffy, humorous approach to writing, so she’s a nice pick me up. Funny enough, I like her “darkest” story, if you can even call it that: “dressed too nice for a jacket, so i’m freezing.” Jaded Annabeth is goals.

I also really like Average Canadian. The grammar sometimes gets me lol, but their plots are pretty creative for ff, so I decently enjoy them, and I was a pretty big stan of them when I was wayyy younger lol. I really like Seriously, even if that one probably has the most basic plot, just because it was funny, but Useless Wings and Forgotten Paradise probably have more action-packed scenes. Papercuts is new, but promising.

Aria Taylor is also a classic for ff. She’s one of the OGs, so I’d recommend checking her out. Same with MaydayParade8123. On ff goldenlanterns, on ao3 goldenlanternss, I’ve heard is pretty good too. I follow them, but I lowkey don’t remember their stories at all lol. leighismyname’s 102 was an entertaining fic on ff. bananajelly has some good concept/short fics, as does UnwieldyInk. And then my all time fav Jercy story is Andromeda by aruallz on ao3. That one was pretty funny, and it has Latino Percy, so that’s always a plus.

I haven’t been reading ff/ao3 a lot, so some of these might be old, but hopefully they’re still good, and I hope these reccs help!
