Bruce finally decided it’s time to reveal his identity to Superman and Wonder Woman, so he takes off his mask…and is met with two blank faces. Zero recognition.

Like, Bruce Wayne is in that celebrity category of being famous for being rich and famous and also as a local celebrity, so I like to imagine that outside of Gotham, if you’re not that into celebrity culture, you probably wouldn’t recognize him walking down the street. And yeah, Clark’s a journalist, but the celebrity stuff and charity fluff pieces aren’t really his area and Diana’s never really understood the fascination with celebrities. So yeah, they don’t recognize their coworker sans makeup and expensive clothes, with helmet hair, looking like he hasn’t slept in 48 hours.

So now Bruce has to sit there, trying to figure out the least dickish way to say “don’t you know who I am?” bc he’s just not used to the lack of reaction. So he finally stumbles out with, “do you not recognize me?”

And Clark is feeling the awkwardness now but trying to be polite, “I’m so sorry, have we met as civilians before?”

Protective instincts aside I love Jack saying that his attack was "so recklessly". He did fear for Jonathan's life and tried to shield him with a crucifix and a wafer because he kept trying to Kill. I imagine him talking about the attack with the tone of a man who is wiping his sweating forehead going "And then, the absolute madlad-"

Jack: "We were trying to play it safe, united front and all, except someone kept trying to actively gut the ancient undead horror right then and there. And then he lizard fashioned out the window to try it again when said undead horror threw himself out of the building to escape. And then he went chasing after the undead horror to try and carve him open in the middle of a crowded street. At this stage, Crowley having lost memories from before the Fall is a theory, not a given. There's some evidence for it but nothing like proof. It's fine to base analysis on the possibility but your argument will be much stronger if you acknowledge that it's an if. If Crowley lost his memories, then - whatever it is this implies or raises questions about.

Maybe I'm being too precious about What's Really Canon but we're only a few months into a hiatus that's going to last years, and I'm desperately hoping we can avoid fanon creep as much as possible. So I'm encouraging us, in all areas, to notice when we're accepting possibilities as givens. We can build theories on top of theories but it's really crucial that we acknowledge which parts are assumptions. Because each incorrect assumption that we rely on takes us further away from the truth. This is such a smart fandom and I love reading everyone's perspectives. I want us to keep all our avenues for speculation open, including the ones that go against dominant fandom readings.

We didn’t formally potty train 5yo until he was about 3.5 years old. He just wasn’t ready before that (probably not helped by the fact that he hadn’t walked until almost 2 and everything else gross motor lagged behind accordingly). He took to peeing in the potty really well, but he never once actually pooped in the potty until after he turned 5. And that was with a lot of begging and cajoling and prizes, and didn’t end up being any kind of real turning point. He is still not fully potty trained due to a complicated combination of physical and behavioral issues. We have worked with a potty training expert. We have seen multiple doctors and PTs. We still have no real idea when he’ll finally get it.

So, you know how they say no 2 kids are the same?

2yo, who is 2 years and 5 months old as of a few days ago/tonight depending which calendar, basically started self-potty training this week. We’d felt he was likely ready for a couple months or so already, but different things kept coming up to make it not the right weekend to train him and then it was too close to our trip to my hometown to start and so on.

So, this week this kid just started regularly asking to use the potty after he got home from daycare. He mostly kept his diaper dry between then and bedtime the whole week, although he pooped in the diaper.

We started formal potty training yesterday afternoon after daycare and within less than 5 hours he’d successfully pooped in the potty, nbd. He’s had a few accidents since we started but he’s super motivated. After I put on his nighttime diaper at bedtime, he told me he wanted to wear undies.

More Yoshida and Fumiko thoughts.

This might just be me. But I'm thinking about the misdirection in Yoshida and Fumiko's framing in the last few chapters or so.

Fumiko painting herself as the dying underdog and Yoshida's presentation of his softer, less guarded side in the aftermath of the panel of them outside the ward.

Just the flow of Fumiko seemingly getting her timely comeuppance in the story because she's just so awful, in a way that's cathartic for her haters as she lowers herself for a grander purpose.

And Yoshida's timely appearance as a vital ally in a time of need, through his rounded edges and stance as a sympathiser of Denji and Asa, his fellow teens and students. His targeted ignorance an opportunity to make amends as an underdog himself who was forced to hurt them against his will.

Yoshida's conflicted aversion to his duty under PS vs Fumiko's gleeful adherence to it.

And then ch.189 flips not only the perception of this dynamic on its head, but once again showing there's still more that meets the eye about these characters after leading you down a structured, believable arc.

Especially with Fumiko's parallel to Yoshida as a more malevolent, corrupt version of himself representing the harm of PS.

This darkness she represents in Yoshida seemingly subsiding as he comes around.

But she's fine! This is of no consequence to her, in fact this is her true threat. This sharp blade of hers she puts in Yoshida's hand as his subordinate, underling and he takes it so naturally to exercise its power.

Suddenly both of them are the ones in control of the situation with Aging, the one holding the reins as a primal fear, at their mercy. The humans, the agents it was tearing apart for its purpose, the "children" who aren't a match against it because they're not "mature enough".

Devoured by Fumiko's role of herself as the kouhai of Yoshida's as agent and student, in the adulthood Yoshida ingrains in himself as a child, an agent.

Like this is kinda wild. Because Fumiko is positioned imposingly w these old dudes and her being older than Yoshida too. Her smiling in Yoshida's moment of hopelessness, she appears to be the one with more power between them.

But she's also smaller here against Yoshida towering in the foreground.

Fumiko placed in the back with these background characters, less important. The focus here is Yoshida's pain that she merely responds to.

And this positioning makes them look at each other like a mirror, as the only young ones present here.

As the characters who matter to the narrative in their shared role.
