OK, so I've got a pet theory that boils down to: Caithe is currently immortal. Allow me to monologue.
The Elder Dragons have a thing called a Champion that they can use to further their goals. The champion can channel the power of their dragon. However there seems to be two main categories of Champion:
Creatures created wholecloth from a dragon's power that are attuned to their flavour of magic
Creatures that volunteer themselves to be the champion
Creatures that fit into the first category seem to have a lot of freedom in their position. Taking direct orders verbally and being given autonomy to act in furtherance of what they assume is their dragon's goals. If they go against their Dragon's goals the dragon doesnt really have a good way to reign them in. Examples of creatures like this are: Glint, The Shatterer, Tequatl, The Pale Tree
Creatures in the second category however seem to get overwhelmed and act as through possessed. Suddenly changing their behavoir and acting against their own interests. They have no way to resist the commands and desires of their Dragon. Examples of creatures who took this mantle are: Bangar, Rytlock's Son, Braham, Cera/Scarlet Briar, The Commander
Now you might think Cera shouldn't be in that list, but her sudden change in attitude and acting against her previous goals and desires really does imply that when she was exposed to the Eternal Alchemy she was contacted by Mordremoth and was unable to resist working towards waking him up ASAP. The only other creature to use the same machine we known of is the commander and they came out reasonably fine, so we can assume their homicidal tendencies were because they became a dragon champion against their will.
You also might wonder why the Commander still has free will, despite being innthat category, and my assumption here is simple: We're older than Aurene, she doesn't have the capability to dominate creatures with a stronger will than she has. And she's 7 years old. Even a Sylvari Commander would be older than her by a few years.
So on to the main point of this, the Pale Tree was a Champion of Mordremoth, but like with how the Forgotten were able to break the connection between Glint and Kralkatorrik, Ventari was able to break their connection (not as completely, since it was done accidentally, but still a good effort). However since the Pale Tree was alunaware of their connection they didn't take any precautions on their children being kept safe from Mordremoth's influence.
In the same way that we saw Death-Branded Destroyers turning up when Zaitan was destroyed, it seems that Dragon Minions can be forced to swap the energy they are atuned with. Leading to the Last chapter of LWS4 when The Crystal Bloom is founded and their first member: Caith is attuned to Aurene's energies. From what we saw in Heart of Thorns the Sylvari are technically Dragon Minions, so this all seems fine for now.
We saw in GW1 that the champions of elder dragons don't age, the Great Destroyer (the champion of Primordus) was around the menace the Asura and Dwarfs in 1078 AE, and was created 10,000 years earlier in the previous Dragonrise. While it was asleep for a big chunk of that time not all of the other minions were asleep.
Caithe can reasonably assumed to be both a minion of Aurene and have a magical connection to her. One can only assume that Aurene's sylvari minions will be able to live long enough to see her wake up again in a few thousand years.
Also, with the story beat in Janthier Wilds about the Pale Tree still being injured from the Heart of Thorns story, I assume it fix her it'll require attuning to Aurene's magic to be able to recover properly since she no longer has her aligned dragon to filter magic for her alignment.

Speaking of WvW and Mist War, how do y'all consider deaths in that game mode? Since the whole area goes through periodic resets due to being in a fractal-like state, is death something permanent or temporary ?
If death is permanent, how is the army of Mist Warriors full enough to allow zerg fight after zerg fight? Are those who die just injured/captured? If so, why leave them alive if the others are canonly seen as pure evil enemies?
If death is temporary, what happens to those who die? Does dying leave physical and mental damage of sorts? Why do so many never come back again? Can it be made permanent in some way? Can one remain stuck there like one can remain stuck in the fractals?

In 3 years from now, if GW2 is still a thing,,, it’ll be the year of the Horse. They can’t avoid censoring horses forever.

Imagine Cerus getting redemption as the member of the astral ward, isgarren becoming his new mentor and Cerus finally seeing how much he differs from Eparch. It's also ironic because the kryptis lord was supposed to hunt him but he feels much better at his presence than at Eparch's presence. Eparch's enemy is Cerus' salvation.
(Besides now instead of these black trousers, he wears pants with stars - everything for redemption)

So like, ever since we had the blog post reflecting on SotO, I've been thinking about the below line:
Tumblr media
'it also means that the story during the next expansion cycle will better leverage all three maps and take you back to familiar areas from your past adventures.' At the time I had no clue what that could mean because...we didn't really have anything to go off for it. But now we have the base story for Janthir Wilds which has given me plenty to theorise about. I feel like we may be setting up to return to Orr. This is my somewhat outlandish theory for the moment. We've been learning about Kodan in Orr, something as far as I know we never heard anything about before now. The scepter of orr is now in play, which isn't Orrian in origin I know but Orr is a huge part of it's history and it feels like it's all slotting together. Obviously since the blog post talking about returning to old areas we've had the reveal we're getting two maps over the update rather than one, so this statement may also have changed since then. But I do love Orr a hell of a lot and I think it'd be cool to go back there and relevant to what we're seeing in the story.

Ooh I just had a thought! regarding the expansion and how it mentioned that “existing sky islands of alternate universe copies of the world below” is going to be a thing, do you think that it’s possible that they can somehow add back in the retconned Malyck storyline with the “other tree” this way too? Like if there is an AU pale tree or a sister tree up in the sky (that was chosen instead of the pale tree; possibly not connected to the dream bc of it being an alternate universe or whatever) up above in the AU grove/caledon (if it were to exist), and maybe if his pod somehow fell down and survived into our caledon, would that be possible? I think it would be really cool to see an alternate “Pale tree” or “sister of the pale tree” (another mother tree) and all those other different sylvari!! (although I’m like 90% sure this won’t happen since I assume this is going to be yet again more human lore stuff, but I can dream!) Granted I also know little to nothing about the old GW1 stuff, I’m just speculating based on what I’ve learned from lore videos and the vague info we have been given.

honestly, if you have lots of dyes unlocked, the new dye randomizer is great for finding color palettes! it puts out some real nice combinations!

And while I'm on here you know what, I'm undeleting the theory from the other day. Here goes of what I can remember, plus some new thoughts since I've had a few more days to let it percolate!
With the addition that I am now aware that "Isgarren appeared to Turai as such, it was in Turai's journal", I have one thing to say to that: how do we know what's real in regards to documentation left around in the game. The current maps we are playing in are obviously lousy with a magic we as the Commander/Wayfinder are completely unfamiliar with and cannot do a vibe check on. Beyond that, we have never met Turai (living anyways) as the Commander/Wayfinder so we have no reference for how he sounds. In short, I am chalking a lot of the documentation left around up to magic manipulation/unreliable narration until proven otherwise.
And to get back to the theory as it once stood: Isgarren claims that he is a Seer. If we go back to the Guild Wars 1 wiki, a Seer appears like the one in the image below.
Tumblr media
The face is correct for Isgarren, but he is blue and not black and as someone on Discord pointed out, Isgarren is lacking "the weird Seer pizza feet".
Also of note at that link: there was a dead Seer at Zinn's lab back in Guild Wars 1. There certainly isn't one now in the fractal. 🤔
But now to the meat of the matter - if Isgarren is not a Seer, then what? I posit that is in fact a djinn, as seen below in a screenshot from (once again) the GW1 wiki.
Tumblr media
Now to make my case...
1) djinn can shapeshift, while it is never indicated in the lore that Seers are able to. Yes the argument can be made that "his magic" but;
2) Isgarren seems to prefer a form of elemental magic in the fight against us, which is also indicative of djinn. He gives Garenhoff the elementals, as well. The magic in the boss fight against him is admittedly different but I circle back to my point of the realm having magic we don't know how to utilize;
5) djinn are also capable of choosing paths of good or evil, like most mortal races of Tyria; and finally,
3) djinn are native to Elona, where Turai's ascension failed;
4) djinn are historically enemies of demons, explaining Isgarren's beef with Eparch and his ilk;
6) Seers are written in the GW1 wiki as being genderless. I don't think GW2 would arbitrarily decide to start gendering a character from a race they wrote as being genderless almost twenty years ago.
I think Isgarren is a djinn, and I have my doubts now as to whether this is even the real Isgarren or someone playing at being him- or them. But I suppose time will tell.

thinking about gorrik's line in the gyala delve meta about how the haze is causing everyone to act antagonistic towards each other, and also the way rama and yao are so kind to him after he has his own haze hallucination experience. if we're going into the haze to get fed on and relive our worst memories, these audiologs of gorrik being supported while we're asked to go back (whoops! for the good of cantha commander!) are giving us the perfect ammunition to tear into him in a combined trauma response&haze triggered antagonism attack. which would likely result in the commander being even more alone and unsupported, as rama and yao would probably say hey what the Fuck commander, gorrik are you alright???
but i'm sure it's fine ah ha it's not like the commander is already exhausted and alone or anything ^-^

character introduction: zenais (she/her)
Tumblr media
as a cub, zenais wondered about the world outside of the sandswept isles. the inquest to the south terrified her, yes, but she was also curious about them - possibly more than was good for her health, considering her lack of skill with a weapon. her scouting helped the olmakhan learn how to avoid them, at least. eventually, her thirst for knowledge became unbearable; she left the isles with a promise to send stories of the larger world back to her people. she's quite far from home by now, but she has more to see!

hey guys i got a really big pvz theory, so here i go.
Today i have a theory about the gnomes and the shrooms in PvZ! So my theory is the mushrooms in PvZ are accually a sub species of the gnomes. In the Gnome-iverse there are many shrooms in the Gnome-iverse also being one of the few natives in the realm of gnomes. Also many of the gnome tech resembles many shrooms. Even the throne of the gnomes, is a mushroom, the mushrooms could even being higher beings than the gnomes! "But Pog!!! Its stated in gnome law that siding or talking with plants or zombies are bad!!!! and to not do it or get banished!!!! if mushrooms were gnomes or gods of gnomes this law wouldnt exist or mushrooms wouldnt be attacked by gnomes!!!!" i hear you cry. But listen, this also supports the mushrooms helping plants being "evil" gods too the gnomes or law breaking gnomes, so they are banished to the overworld and are attacked for being traitors. Also in the real world, mushrooms are the only organic being holding together the world, without shrooms the world would go bad. and a fantasy world of plants vs zombies with gnome gods, why wouldnt mushrooms have a similar role to their irl versions. Also, another counter claim is: Mushrooms are native to our world. but listen, the gnomiverse existed before the formation of space-time, and gnomes hate non gnomes in their realm. so what if the mushrooms are in the human world to have freedom from gnome rein or the rein of their other gods. this is seen in real life history for the british collonies had people flee to the american collonies to have religeose freedom and more freedom from british rule. So it is possible! And remember, there could be even more to support my theory, so help crack gnome lore! thats my theory!

So I had a thought on the way to work...
Mai, Ankka and the Aetherblades traveled through the Fractals of the Mists repeatedly to scavenge for replacement parts for the airships.
Which means pieces of their ships were parts of echoes of their pasts that made it into Tyria.
So...does that mean that echoes of characters could be pulled from the mists, not as being channeled through a revenant, but the echo of the actual person?
You could pull an echo of Trahearne from right before Mordremoth attacked the Pact Fleet back to Tyria? And he would stay?
What are your thoughts? I'd like to hear them.

Hmm, so I just finished the Sorrow's Lost card collection, and the reading Dagda gave is... interesting. It kinda feels like it's about what's to come.
Tumblr media
So five of these cards are whispering, and the cards are the Satchel of Fate, the Stag, the Fiend, and the Mirror. Alongside the Convoy.
If you check the card descriptions for each and then replace the card names:
The Commander enters while Isgarren reaches into the Wizard's Ascent... Zojja faces a severe choice.
The fifth card that is whispering being Arina. Frode's daughter.
Does this mean Zojja will have to choose between ascencion to Wizardry and saving Commander? Why is Arina called a Fiend? Is Arina gonna double-cross us through possession? What does Commander enter?
It does somehow feel like a tease, hmm.
