#ground stone

I have one HUGE pet peeve about archaeological literature. Why does every person studying flint or obsidian call them 'stone tools' in literature. Stone tools includes more than cutting/scraping tools you doofus! Give my pounding, polishing, grinding, pecking, abrading, softening, etc. etc. ground stones love TOO! I refuse to have my rocks be second-class artifacts because they deserve better. I want to not have to download a wholeass paper about stone tool use in the Neolithic of Lower Saxony and THEN discover that it's JUST THE FLINT. Just because ground stone tools/macrolithic tools/ground stones are maybe not entirely picture-perfect does not mean that they deserve to be ignored in favor of sleek flint tools.

mostly inspired by my own experiences at british schools in creepy old buildings

edwin would 100% become the school ghost story, but over time it always becomes a haunted bathroom story. i have no idea why, but in my experience the ghost is always in the bathroom. like, sure, my primary school had a weird clock tower above the nursery, but the girls bathroom was the place people said was haunted. yeah, the sixth form had the lavender lady, but the odd room lined wall-to-wall with mirrors and sinks in the boarding house was WAY more haunted than the attic.

people would still tell his story, but it would become botched and i think they would claim he lives in the bathroom instead of the cellar

Something that I love about orym is his refusal to play ludinus' game. He said one (1) thing about his family. "Cold comfort for my family in the ground" and promptly never indulged him again. Because if you give people the space and the room and the decency to explain their point, you're treating it as if it's a real option. And orym never really considered it to be a real option.

So he didn't indulge him. He said fuck you I hate you and that was that. He didn't care about motives or trying to make ludinus feel bad or sway him any which way. Orym saw what ludinus was and refused to treat him with any seriousness. Because he was wrong. From the beginning to the end.
