I wanted to include all the flags because Finrod deserves it, plus they're my flags as well. But it was a challenge to come up with a palette that would make it work. I chose to use the separate aro and ace flags rather than the aroace one, which I did for Elladan and Elrohir previously, because they just mesh better with the genderqueer colours.

I realized this will be helpful not only to me but also other people probably.

So I’m gonna write down the names of the colors of paint I’m using to make the pride flag pins.

The brand is “apple barrel” and I buy the little bottles that Walmart sells for 50cents. One bottle will last pretty much forever. Instead of tipping it out and pouting the paint onto something to get paint from, just shake it a bit, take the cap off, and collect paint from the cap.

The only color that has started to dry inside the cap from this method is the white paint, the rest are 100% fine. I assume the white paint is different because of what is used to make it.

I use mod podge a clear coat for them, which is the most expensive “ingredient’ since it costs $8.

I use a single paintbrush that I clean between colors in a little gatorade bottle filled with water. You do not need to spend lots of money on this. I am currently painting big popsicle sticks that I cut up into four our five squares each, and you can also paint the wooden circles and stars Walmart sells 6 for around a dollar or two. You can also sometimes find different shapes at the Dollar Tree, and you can also paint metal bottlecaps, though you have to use a lot of clear coat to seal it because the paint might try to peel off lol....

The flag colors, in no particular order, for the ones I’ve tested so far: 

Genderqueer: Kelly green, White, Lilac mist

Trans (pale): Cloudless, Pink polish, White, 

Trans (bright): Cool blue, Pink parfait, White

Bi: Fruit punch, Velvet crush, Blue kazoo

MOGAI: Cloudless, Cool blue, Spring green, Sunny day, Lilac mist, Melted chocolate

Nonbinary: Lemon, White, Wild iris, Black (you could also substitute Wild Iris for a different shade of purple, but this one is my favorite)

Agender: Black, Pewter grey, White, Spring green

Aro: Kelly green, Spring green, White, Pewter grey, Black

Ace: Black, Pewter grey, White, Wild Iris (or your favorite shade of purple, really)

uhhhhh I haven’t figured out which shade of orange is best for the Aroace flag. They don’t look quite right. Pick whichever orange you like best, then Lemon, White, Cool blue, and Admiral blue.

It/its: Sunny Day, Spring Green, White (I keep forgetting to buy a light grey), Pewter Grey, Cool blue.

Queer: Antique white, Lilac mist, Velvet crush.

Neopronouns: Spring green, Cloudless, White, Sunny day, Tangelo.

Xiqyne: Wild iris, Neon purple, Cool blue, Cloudless, Spring green, Sunny day.

Variant: not completely conforming to the societal and cultural ideals or roles of gender, sex, orientation, sexuality, relationships, expression, and other related forms of self-identification. Not being accepted as a member of conformant society due to one’s identity differing from the one assigned to and expected of them. To specify certain subcommunities, terms like gender variant, attractional variant, and relational variant can be used.

“Conformant” is the antonym- meaning not variant-  because cishetalloperisexmonoam(screaming for 11 minutes) is too long and I don’t want to keep shortening it to cis/het because some variants are both cis and het, but variant in another way like gender nonconformity, intersexness, or non-monoamory.

I discuss this term more in this post.

The flag stripe/color meanings are of particular importance because they’re meant to represent certain variant sub-communities and I want to make sure it covers everything to clarify what identities are variant. Colors are chosen based on their use in pride flags/symbols and their association with certain identities. I also wanted the flag to evoke other variant flags like genderqueer when you examine it closely. might edit this if I forgot something. To be fair, there is a lot to cover. Just know that these aren’t complete lists… because that would be a list of every term ever. I’m sticking to mostly broad terminology because of that.

From top center to bottom corners:

Lilac: represents all of the variant community and inclusionism. Lilac is the color representing variance.

Purple: represents (gender)queer, gender/pronoun nonconforming, cross-aligned, androgynous/androgyne, ace-spectrum, altersex, wlw, transgenital, genderfluid, amplusian, mspec/pluralian, (bi/pan)curious, genderfuck, strayt, kingender, varioriented, gender creative, transexpressive, and ficto- variants.

Blue: represents non-monoamorous, non-monogamous, alterous, objectum, conceptum, gay (all kinds of gay), gai, aplatonic, lesbian, auto-, paro-, multigender, enbian, fluitic, flex-, and (responsible/consensual) kinky-identified variants, as well as variants in nontraditional relationships or with variant relationship orientations/preferences.

Yellow: represents neutral, intersex,  abinary, xenine/xin/xenogender, aesthetigender, ambident, iso, ultric, pangender, anthrotherio-, nblnb, pulsaric, aporagender, nontrinary, pandrogynous/pandrogyne, limno-, maverique, and queerplatonic variants.

Green: represents agender, neutrois, aro-spectrum, angenital, orientationgender, agorarelational (open relationship), mlm, medusan/alloda-, aliagender/other gender, oriented aroace, antigender, neurogender, synesgender, heartedgender, and abro- variants.

Black: represents aspec, anattractional, omnia-, repulsed/ARC, nonpronominal/pronounless, unaligned, nonamorous, apothigender, apothibinary, leptrois-spectrum, negabinary, sexless, neither gender, gendervoid, nullgender, anonbinary, and genderpunk variants.

The shape is to evoke queer chevrons and the letter v. Exclusionists/REGs, truscum/transmeds, gatekeepers/identity policers, anti-mogai/neolabel/neopronoun and anyone who would exclude any variant identity can’t use the flag, interact with me or this post, or participate in the variant community. We’re inherently inclusionist and so is the flag and term.

BTQ+/BPQUA+ Pride Flags

BTQ+: bi, trans, (gender)queer, questioning & plusic.

Can be used as a solidarity flag or personal identity, i.e. transgenderqueer biromantic, bisexual queer transgender, transexpressive queeric bigender. Note this isn’t the same as LG-exclusionism, it’s an acronym variation, also used as BTQIAP+/BTQA+. Review your conceptions if you consider offensive BTQ+ termic existence but not LG/GLOW/GLS initials.

BPQUA+ Pride Flag

BPQUA+: bi, pan, ply, questioning, undefined, a-spectral & plusic. Often used as m-spec/a-spec (BPA+) solidarity.

It can be used as solidarity or as for identity, as in poly-uingender bipan quoi-aroace, polyagender aro-pancurious biasexual multi-questioning unsure m-spectral ply a-spectrum. The Q isn’t so used as queer in this case. The U as in QUILTBAG & LGBTQIU+ stands for unidentified too. Based on @bpqua url.

Cross Stitch Text Banners: Aro-Ace.

I’m making a set of cross-stitch themed text banners, based on my aromantic cross-stitch patch patterns. The second images in each set are transparent PNGs and can be filled in with background colour or layered on top of other background images.

Note: I have been using aromantic flags for the aro-ace text banners, in addition to aro-ace flags, for those who may want them as part of expressing their aro-ace identity.
