About the Solar Nexus Space Station
This blog takes place in an alternative reality in which humanity has reached intergalactic travel and is in a relative era of peace between different species of aliens. The Solar Nexus Space Station started as a diplomatic meeting point and a shipping hub for different goods. Over time, it grew into a city of its own, expanding and creating different sectors that house various species of aliens. The purpose of this blog is to act as a creative outlet between my assignments (admin is 21+ and is in college), and may or may not post regularly.
Participation
I encourage you to participate. I, the admin, welcome anyone who wants to join by role-playing or writing logs from the perspective of someone who fits into this narrative universe, for example, someone who resides on the Solar Nexus Intergalactic Space Station or a member of the Galactic Research and Exchange Council (GREC). This could be someone aboard a scout ship, a military vessel, a planetary research and data collection ship, or even terraformation outposts and colony ships.
Rules for Submission
Submissions should be written from the perspective of someone who exists in this narrative universe. That can be a resident of the Solar Nexus, a member of the Space Union™️, or otherwise narratively coherent.
This is not a place for hatred. Blatant Racism, homophobia, islamophobia, anti-Semitism, religious superiority, transphobia, and other bigotry will not be tolerated. I am willing to explore these ideas in this space in the narrative of character growth. For example, say a Tarkaan is really racist against Sarynites, and the Tarkaan, by the end of the arc, learns a new appreciation for Sarynite people and culture. Using this creative space as an excuse to be a bigot will not be tolerated.
If you have an idea that you would like to pitch before submission, please feel free to send an ask or a message, and I'll answer if or when I can.
About Estella Saaller
Estella Saaller is the admin's narrative vessel. She is a young, hopeful Zyrrhan starting a work placement on the Solar Nexus as a Children's Welfare worker. She looks forward to making friends and helping any displaced children aboard the Nexus and beyond.
FAQS
Why do you use AI? (admin note: no one has asked this yet; I just wanted to answer it.) As you can see from the posts, ChatGPT generates the majority of species descriptions and images. I use ChatGPT as a resource, which allows me to pursue my creative flow uninterrupted. Of course, the contributions of real artists will always be preferred. Since I am not seeking to monetize any of this work, it is morally sound (IMHO) to use AI for now. Generated images can always act as a reference for future artist contributions.

The Foundation and Evolution of the Galactic Research and Exchange Council (GREC)

The Galactic Research and Exchange Council (GREC) is now recognized as the foremost scientific and exploratory organization in the galaxy, dedicated to advancing knowledge, fostering interstellar cooperation, and unlocking the mysteries of the universe. However, its journey from a bold vision to a galactic powerhouse was fraught with political resistance, technological hurdles, and interspecies conflicts.
1. The Vision of Dr. Veydrin Aelios (Pre-3765 GCS)
The roots of GREC trace back to Dr. Veydrin Aelios, a Veyari xenobiologist and interstellar diplomat who saw how the galaxy's scientific community was fragmented and hindered by secrecy, political rivalries, and bureaucratic red tape.
🔹 Key Observations That Led to GREC’s Inception: ✔ Planetary research was limited by factional barriers, with each species hoarding discoveries instead of sharing knowledge for the greater good. ✔ Xenomedicine lacked universal data access, making it dangerous for interspecies travelers due to a lack of cross-species medical understanding. ✔ Deep space exploration was underfunded by most governments and considered a secondary concern to military expansion and economic gain.
🔹 The Aelios Doctrine (3758 GCS) To challenge these limitations, Aelios published the Aelios Doctrine, a thesis proposing the creation of a neutral, intergalactic research council that would: ✔ Encourage the free exchange of scientific knowledge across species. ✔ Serve as an independent research body, unaffiliated with political entities. ✔ Advance medicine, technology, and space exploration through shared data resources.
At first, his ideas were laughed at by conservative governments, but smaller planetary alliances, independent scholars, and rogue explorers saw the potential in breaking down barriers between civilizations.
2. The Founding of GREC (3765 GCS - 3780 GCS)
A. Establishing the First Galactic Scientific Accord
Despite resistance, Aelios gathered support from multiple factions, including: 🔹 The Free Worlds Consortium – A coalition of newly spacefaring civilizations eager for technological advancements. 🔹 The Sarynite Harmonic Council – Provided early research into resonance-based energy. 🔹 The Zyrrhan Archive Guild – Offered knowledge on bioluminescent lifeforms and planetary ecosystems. 🔹 Private Interstellar Research Firms – Funded GREC in its infancy, seeing potential profit in shared technology development.
These groups signed the First Galactic Scientific Accord, creating GREC’s first headquarters on the neutral station Oris-9.
B. Early Challenges & Political Resistance (3765 - 3780 GCS)
GREC’s first decade was met with intense opposition from: ❌ Isolationist governments fearing technological leaks. ❌ Corporate mega conglomerates who saw free knowledge sharing as a financial threat. ❌ Military factions who did not want scientific discoveries falling into the hands of potential enemies.
🔹 Key Events That Solidified GREC’s Presence: ✔ The Medical Crisis of 3771 GCS – GREC’s early efforts stopped a galactic pandemic by rapidly sharing cross-species virology data, proving its necessity. ✔ The Trion-5 Terraforming Project (3774 GCS) – GREC successfully transformed a barren moon into a livable biosphere, showcasing the power of unified scientific cooperation. ✔ The Council War Trials (3776 GCS) – GREC became officially recognized as a neutral entity when it provided scientific evidence that prevented an interplanetary war, gaining galactic credibility.
By 3780 GCS, GREC was no longer just an experiment but a necessity.
3. Expansion & The Golden Age of Exploration (3780 - 3840 GCS)
With credibility secured, GREC focused on expanding its influence and research capabilities.
A. The Formation of the Galactic Data Nexus (3782 GCS)
GREC established the first universal knowledge-sharing network, allowing scientists across hundreds of worlds to upload, verify, and access research instantaneously.
This led to the creation of universal scientific standards, ensuring that technologies and medicines worked safely across multiple species.
B. Deep-Space Exploration & AI Integration (3800 - 3830 GCS)
Launched automated deep-space probes capable of scanning and cataloging planets beyond known space.
Developed adaptive AI researchers, able to analyze planets for potential colonization, lifeforms, and energy anomalies.
The Echo Navigator-class research vessels were deployed, pushing GREC’s exploration range beyond the galactic core.
C. Key Breakthroughs & Their Impact
✔ Unified Resonance Theory (3808 GCS) – Confirmed harmonic energy fields exist across multiple planets, revolutionizing medicine and interstellar travel. ✔ Quantum Communication (3814 GCS) – Allowed for instantaneous data transmission between planets, eliminating communication delays. ✔ Artificial Gravity Standardization (3825 GCS) – Developed technology that made long-term space travel safer for species with different gravitational needs.
By 3840 GCS, GREC had fundamentally transformed galactic civilization, proving that scientific cooperation was more powerful than war.
4. The Modern Era of GREC (3840 GCS - Present Day)
Today, GREC operates as the largest interstellar scientific institution, with thousands of research stations, laboratories, and exploration vessels across the known galaxy.
A. Structure & Function
🔹 The High Council of Scientific Exchange – Oversees policy, ethics, and large-scale projects. 🔹 The Stellar Research Divisions – Specialize in fields such as medicine, xenobiology, astrophysics, and planetary terraforming. 🔹 The Exploratory Fleet – Includes ships like the Echo Navigator, mapping the outer reaches of the galaxy.
B. Modern Challenges & Controversies
❌ Technological Ethics – Should all research be shared freely, or should some discoveries be restricted? ❌ Unregulated Artificial Intelligence – Concerns arise over AI scientists surpassing organic researchers. ❌ Potential Interference with Pre-Spacefaring Civilizations – Some argue GREC should guide new civilizations, while others claim it violates natural development.
C. The Future of GREC
🔹 First Contact Missions – Initiating communication with previously unknown intelligent species. 🔹 Dark Matter & Quantum Research – Unlocking the secrets of the universe’s fundamental forces. 🔹 Multidimensional Exploration – Theoretical research into alternate realities and non-physical existence.
Final Thoughts – The Impact of GREC
From a single research station to a galactic powerhouse, GREC changed the course of history through scientific cooperation, innovation, and perseverance.
Despite political challenges and ethical dilemmas, GREC remains the cornerstone of interstellar knowledge.
Whether it’s saving lives, mapping the cosmos, or unlocking the secrets of the universe, one thing is certain:
The pursuit of knowledge is infinite. 🌌✨
