lowkey makes me sad sometimes because I feel like all the female fictional characters I love get wayyyy less love, recognition, fics/fanart than their male counterparts and it sucks!!

I’m victim of it too sometimes but like where is more love for the marauders girlies? Lucy Gray Baird? Johanna Mason? They’re all so iconic and all these fandoms don’t talk about it enough!!

I like when James is morally gray. I like that he was a dumb kid that had been spoiled by his parents and had everything he wanted. I like that what he wanted most of the time was have fun and be liked by other kids. He desperately wanted friends (grew up lonely most of his childhood).

So he did pranks, and sometimes those pranks got a bit too far. So he joked around and sometimes he didn't realize those jokes might hurt others.

And he bothered Snape, because he was annoying, a teacher's pet and non attractive. Easy to make fun of. Yes, Snape fought back most of the time. But sometimes James just bothered him and pranked him because it was fun and he was a kid.

James asked Lily out at first because of a matter of honor. Because she was a pretty girl and she was friends with Snape and "What does Snivellus have that I don't?" Partly to get "Snape's girl", but also to show off in front of his mates, to raise his ego.

But James was not only that. He was good and wonderful with the people he liked. He was excepcional with his friends. He did everything for them, to see them happy.

And he was also nice with his parents, showing them respect. Helping them with what they needed. And yes, he was a troublemaker but he was sorry when his mischief overstepped a little.

James tried to fight the injustice and help people who needed. He defended the defenseless and gave hope to the hopeless.

Those two James were one, creating a very profound and complicated human being. With good parts and bad parts.

And as everyone, James stopped being a little kid. He grew up into a man. He matured. And he stopped doing stupid pranks. He stopped mocking people. He stopped bothering Snape, because it was not worth it. Snape hated him and continued hurting him. But James didn't fight back anymore.

And what he felt for Lily, it developed into something more profound. He didn't see her as a game and a pretty girl to conquer anymore, she was a beautiful woman that he thought he didn't deserve. And he stopped asking her out. Because he preferred her happiness before his. It became love what he felt for her, as soon as knew her better.

James tried to make up for all the damage he had done in the past. He grew up into a wonderful man that helped others when they needed. A selfless person. Someone with full of love to give.

I just think this makes James more interesting and more human. I am not saying he isn't a good person. But he was a dumb kid once who made mistakes and grew out of it.
