I’m so fed up with how I’ve been feeling over the past few days.
It’s like I’m getting motion sickness just from standing up. I get lightheaded and I feel queasy and I really haven’t had much of an appetite. I’m so exhausted too despite only exerting physical effort when doing chores (laundry, dishes, nothing crazy.)
Is it my Hashimoto’s? Is it my body deciding to be a little bitch? Who knows!
#aside from what I mentioned I don’t have any symptoms of being sick and this has been going on for a few days#I’ve been getting on and off headaches too#gotta love it /sar#chronic pain#chronic illness#cw chronic pain#cw chronic illness#young disabled#Hashimoto’s disease#thyroid#thyroid disorder#thyroid disease

Helloo, I am an Eclipsa fan like you and I am wondering what it would be like if you could make a special episode for Eclipsa in the show:)
Hey!! Fellow Eclipsa fan let’s go!! ♠️ :D
I’ve dwelled on this question for a while. Considering I have an entire AU where she is a very prominent supporting character and the best friend of the protagonist, it should’ve been pretty easy to answer this, but I’d never thought about this question in an episode format before.
Considering you mean an Eclipsa episode during the events of the show (part of why this question was so difficult), I’m going to talk about a brief concept I’ve given some thought to over the last few days. I don’t know where this would be in the show’s timeline, somewhere in Season 4, but I’m not sure exactly where.
Here goes:
Eclipsa is a character that I love for many reasons, but one of the biggest reasons I love her so much is because of how flawed she is as a person. The obvious ones are her impulsivity and only thinking about herself in a lot of situations (aka selfishness), but I focus on her flaws in relation to monsters and their treatment. Most of the fandom praises Eclipsa because she by far treats them the best than any Butterfly before her, but it doesn’t mean she’s a tried and true monster ally. Not only did she fancy them in the first place soley because of her attraction toward them, but she has a LOT of anti-monster biases ingrained into her that still persist to this day. The biggest one is her adversity to the Septarians and the creation of a spell specifically to kill them based on rumors and word of mouth from Globgor (another anti-Septarian biased party), but she’s still not perfect in other regards. She has a lot to unlearn and educate herself about. Eclipsa is just as capable as any other Butterfly of mistreating monsters, even if she’s put in YEARS of effort of unlearning already.
This is NOT to discount the work Eclipsa already put in, she’s BY FAR the best towards monsters and makes efforts during the show to ensure their fair treatment (the Monster/Queen breakfast, returning to their homes to them, and creating new monster town), but she falls short in many areas. She works within the system the Butterflies set up (it disadvantages monsters by design and needs to be uprooted and replaced) and she thinks “peace” between Mewmans and Monsters can be solved quickly and easily— not only in modern day but back in her time when her mother was OPENLY COMMITTING GENOCIDE. She’s hopeful and optimistic but that line of thinking is grossly simplistic and fails to acknowledge the real areas of hurting by thinking a situation rooted in colonialist violence and genocide can be solved with “peace and harmony” and “bringing monsters and mewmans together” quickly and easily with no fuss.
Not only that, but most of her focus throughout Season 4 is Eclipsa trying to win the Mewmans on her side. She hardly faces any adversity from monsters and the Mewmans are practically all she’s focused on. She’s trying to win allyship and respect from her Mewman subjects and not the monsters. She’s neglecting the very people she claims to ally with so much.
So, if I were to write her an episode, what would I do?
Not sure about the exact details, but it’d be an episode focused on her relationship with monster civilians. Her being put in a situation where she realizes that the monsters also don’t like her too much just like the Mewmans don’t, but for vastly different reasons. She’d be called out and confronted with a situation she can’t just quickly wave her wand and make peace with. Her biases would be brought to light and she’d be faced with the realization that she needs to do better for the monsters she’s grown to care about so much and not just the Mewmans. She needs to earn their trust too. She’d actually put in time and effort to help with the situation in a personal way that proves that she is trying and putting in work and it isn’t just lip service or backhanded “peace” attempts without anything substantial behind it (I look not so subtly at Comet Butterfly). She’s being selfless and buckles down to get her hands dirty and makes real strides to amend her actions. She’s a queen who doesn’t stay up in her castle letting her subjects do whatever, but she dresses down, puts away her wand, rolls up her sleeves, and works alongside her people as an equal.
This would not instantly win over the monsters— they still wouldn’t have her full trust— but it’d be the first baby step in actually winning that trust. She has a lot to make up for and unlearn, but the thing I love about Eclipsa the most is that she TRIES. I love that she PUTS IN THE EFFORT. I love that she IS SELF-REFLECTIVE. I LOVE that she has flaws, but I love that she’s ALWAYS SEEKING TO IMPROVE HERSELF.
I think this episode would lead to the more democratic “the decision should be with the people” stance she takes in Cornonation. It’d be subtly foreshadowing a self-reflective look at the system her family set up being fundamentally flawed and her making actual strides to eventually uproot it. She’s still flawed, I’ll fully admit it’d be a HUGE step out of her comfort zone to dismantle the monarchy, but it’d hint toward that conclusion being the one she reaches.
Oh. Also. Star and Marco would not be in this episode. This is an Eclipsa/Meteora solo adventure. This episode does NOT need Star’s stupid fucking ass condescending bullshit and disrespect towards Eclipsa. Eclipsa is doing this independently without Star fucking Butterfly holding her hand or scolding her or any of that STUPID bullshit. Star and Marco would be nowhere near this event, they’d leave at the beginning of the episode off somewhere and leave her to it.
But yeah! It’s very bare bones, and I’m sure I could craft something better if I had more time, but that’s what I could come up with in a few days. Essentially an episode furthering her character arc and addressing her failings toward the monsters and how she works to our in substantial effort improving that relation with no magic shortcuts or quick “peace.” Tangible and active character growth for my second favorite character ♠️
#svtfoe#star vs the forces of evil#eclipsa butterfly#eclipsa queen of darkness#wow? eclipsa not being a perfect monster ally? crazy /sar#nah but fr she’s not perfect she’s gotta put in work and elbow grease#it actually bothers me that she and Star are so focused on winning over Mewmanity#that monsters get neglected#and people say she’s ‘favoring’ monsters??#um if ANYONE needs to be favored it’s the fucking monsters#and she also doesn’t she’s focused on winning Mewmans to her side#monsters are her people too??#giving them back their homes and putting effort to help them is great#but she needs to do it more#anyways live laugh love eclipsa#eclipsa they could NEVER EVER EVER make me hate you

Hi! Hope everything is well 😊
Just played the demo and it's sooo god! 😍 Replayed it several times already.
I've tried every type of playthrough for each wayhaven book. Like, literally every single one... for each stat, personality, type of relationship with each RO, who your BFF is....etc...
I'm just obsessed with how even small things changes the dialogue, I can't help it, it's like Pokemon, I gotta catch them all 🤣
And I already know i'll replay this one the most 😍 and it has absolutely nothing to do with the hot Villain, or the MC getting awesome super powers. Or the angst. Or the mental image of a MC going full on "Unlimited Power!" On the next Murphy, or Anwir, or Bobby, definitely not Bobby. Nope.
Not. At. All.
....
Anyways...
So I just have to ask (Even though i'm guessing we're going into spoiler territory) how is the Villain as a RO? Right now i'm getting the feeling that they (mostly) wants MC for this "power" they keep mentioning, but is there another reason?
Also just for fun, like in the other RO asks, where does the Villain land in the rankings? For most clingy, emotional, affectionate, etc. Then, of course the most important one, Jealousy. I know we can't really pursue the Villain if we're already romancing someone, but how do they feel about the "competition"? Are they not worried/bothered at all, or should we prepare to go full on supernatural prepper mode and look for underground bunkers for our RO? 😳
If it's the latter i'm guessing my MC is going to check if Sin is willing to side hustle as our RO's bodyguard...
Whether RO agrees to it or not.
(Yes Adam/Ava and Mason/Morgan i'm talking to you!) because I WILL protect you against your will. Deal with it or I swear i'll go full on lovey dovey mode on you, with daily, heart on your sleeve love confessions and love poems.
That I will read out in public.
Everywhere you go, you'll find roses waiting for you. There will be no escape from the sweet and sincere love MC holds for you.
Then I will force you to watch every single sappy romance movie on this planet!
EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.
So shut it and get in the bunker with Sin!
NOW. 😡
Oh, interesting questions for Li-Sar, hehe! :D
As I've said multiple times—and will keep saying, lol!—the villain is very much a villain. They're not like Falk or Sin where things get a bit morally one way or other kind of thing.
Li-Sar is a power-hungry villain.
But, saying that, if you choose to do the romance route fully, then they will love the MC. They will fall as deep as the vampires do.
BUT this is still a villain romance. Li-Sar is not a good person, lol!
The way it will play is like the vampires in that it is a love that is a soul-mate kind of thing, your MC feels for Li-Sar and can't help it (though there will be lots and lots of times to be able to pull out before fully committing to the romance, but once you're in it, you're in it—and I will put a warning in game about when it will be locked in).
As a romance option Li-Sar is intense, tempting, and overwhelming, but also surprisingly gentle and…needful.
-
As for when you can't romance Li-Sar (if you're already on a vampire romance route), Li-Sar doesn't do well with competition, and will make that very plainly clear!
-
Thank you so much for the asks and the message! <3

I Hate You, I Love You- part 1
Summary: you hate melissa schemmenti with every fiber of your being. but when she’s the only one you can think of when your mother asks if you’re dating anyone, you find yourself in a sticky situation.
WC: ~2.3k
There’s something about that redheaded second grade teacher that you can’t stand. You can’t quite name it. Maybe it’s the fact that she flaunts around like she owns the damn school. Perhaps it’s how she’s always making snarky comments and can never seem genuine. Or it could be that her hair is that shade of red that you know is fake, and she comes into the school with it so perfectly curled and that stupid smug grin of hers. It might be that you never know what she’s thinking because she has such a damn good poker face. You’ve considered the fact that you can’t stand her is because of the way she dresses- showing off her body in such a way that makes you question just how much you hate her. Okay… so you might think she’s hot as hell, but that does not negate the fact that she is a stuck-up, snarky, rough around the edges teacher with an ego the size of-
“Y/N,” your grade partner snaps her fingers in your face a few times. “You with us?”
You shake your head out of your thoughts, and you’re back in the Abbott Elementary library. “Huh? What’s up?”
“Oh good, you’ve decided to join us again,” Melissa rolls her eyes. It takes everything in you to not smack that stupid smirk off of her face. “The meeting’s done. We have the rest of the morning to work on our data analyses with our grade.”
Another two hours of having to sit in the same room as the other second grade teachers? Janine is one thing, but Melissa is an entirely different being. You don’t know how you’re going to survive this.
“Oh,” you sigh instead. “Okay, yeah. I’ll be there in a few minutes. Just gotta uh… pee.” It’s not necessarily a lie, but you mostly just want the few minutes to yourself to collect your thoughts and get your rage under control.
“Thanks for sharing with the class.” Your colleague turns on her heel, calling for Janine as she goes. As much as you hate yourself for it, you can’t help but watch the way that her hips sway or how bouncy her hair is. A shade of red finds its way into your cheeks before you sigh deeply and begin to gather your things.
By some grace of God, you manage to survive the morning in the presence of your awful co-worker without too many bitchy comments that make you want to either throw up or punch Melissa in the face. It helps that Janine is there as the middle man, so whenever she can see that either of you are ready to start going at each other, she intervenes with her own ridiculous idea- that gets the two of you to jump on her together. The shorter teacher isn’t necessarily excited to have to be the scapegoat, but she just wants to keep the peace.
The afternoon is peaceful for you. It’s time for you to get everything in order, go through paperwork, and then prepare the materials that you’ll need for next week. All is going well until you realize that you need to get the beakers from Janine for your science lesson. You make your way across the hall and knock on her doorframe gently.
“Teagues, you got the beakers in here? I need ‘em to teach my kids about liquids on Monday.”
She turns to you with a smile. “Actually, Melissa has them. I can go grab them for you though if you-”
“I got it,” you sigh. “Thanks though.” You really don’t want to have to go speak with the redhead, but you want to remain professional. So, you make your way to her classroom and knock on the doorframe as you lean against it.
“What?” the gruff voice asks, head in her closet. It gives you the perfect opportunity to stare at her body.
“I- I need the beakers for my science lesson next week, and Teagues said you had them,” you tell her.
When she turns, you hope the blush in your cheeks disappears before she can see it. “Yeah. They’re on the counter. Just bring ‘em back all in one piece, you hear?”
“Loud and clear, Drill Sarge,” you roll your eyes as you mock salute her.
There’s a mischievous glint in those green eyes that you hate as she smirks. “I like the way you take orders now. Submissive. I like that.” She throws you a wink, and then she rolls her eyes at you.
You nearly choke on the air you had just taken in. Without another word, you make your way into her classroom and grab the materials you need before quickly making your way out and back to your room. Her eyes linger on your own figure
When you’re in the comfort of your own classroom, you feel yourself sweating. The woman that you hate is making you feel all hot and bothered, and you hate it. You hate her. You refuse to step back into her classroom for the rest of the day.
But when you’re leaving, there’s something in you that makes you stop by both her and Janine’s room before exiting the building for the weekend. You say your goodbyes to Janine before knocking gently on Melissa’s doorframe.
"Have a good weekend, Schemmenti,” you grumble.
“Don’ tell me what kind of weekend to have,” the redhead shoots back without looking up. You can’t tell, but she’s smirking. She loves to get under your skin.
“Or don’t,” you mutter as you walk away from her room. “I don’t really care.”
You’re sitting at home nursing your third glass on wine with your glasses on as you watch trash reality television when your mother calls. Just tipsy enough to answer, you accept the call.
“Hey, Mom,” you try to sound as happy as you can. You wish she hadn’t called- phone conversations with her are always much longer than you would like, and your program was just getting good when she decided to dial.
“Y/N!” Your mother sounds delighted. “You answered.”
“I usually do,” you roll your eyes.
You hear your mother scoff just slightly. “Well, it’s a Friday night, so I was expecting you to be out on the town or something and not have time for your old mom.”
“Mom,” you sigh.
“I was just going to leave a voicemail telling you that your aunt is coming up for dinner tomorrow, and if you don’t have any plans…”
“I’ll be there,” you concede. You know you have nothing going on tomorrow, and your aunt isn’t your least favorite person in the world- no, that would be Melissa Schemmenti.
“Oh how wonderful!” your mother sounds thrilled that she didn’t have to try to convince you harder. “Dinner starts at seven, but if you wanted to come earlier to-”
“Yeah, Mom,” you hum into the phone. “Listen, as much as I would love to continue chatting with you on the phone, I will see you tomorrow, and I have to pee.”
“Great, thanks baby, bye!” You knew the little white lie of telling her you had to use the restroom would get her off the phone. She’s never liked people being on their phones while in the bathroom.
The next day, you’re regretting your decision to make your way over for dinner, but you already committed, so you have to show. You don’t think you can handle one more phone call lecturing you about not loving your parents enough to make time for them.
You pull up with a bottle of wine and a tray of deviled eggs in your hand when the door flies open. Your mom plucks the food out of your hands while your aunt pulls you into a tight hug.
“My beautiful Y/N!” she cries happily. “You’re so beautiful!”
You hug her back warmly. “Hey Aunt Jo. Thank you, but I haven’t changed much since you saw me two months ago.”
“Well, I’m sure some things have changed,” she tuts. “What with working in a school and all, everything is always changing, and I can’t wait to hear all about it!”
Conversation is nice and light until your family settles on the couch and begins to chat about holiday plans. Christmas is only a few weeks away after all.
“And Y/N,” Aunt Jo claps her hands. “I’m assuming you’ll be here for the holidays?”
“Always am,” you chuckle, taking yet another sip of your wine. This must be your third or fourth at this point. “You know I am.”
“And will you be bringing anybody?” You shake your head, and you regret that decision immediately when your aunt giggles. “Well, I may have found the perfect one for you.”
You fight the urge to roll your eyes. Aunt Jo’s trademark is playing matchmaker. She’s always done it, and she probably won’t stop doing it until the day she dies. She had gotten your parents together, she fixed your uncle up with his wife, and she’s known as Cupid at her old place of employment.
“I appreciate it, but I don’t think I’ll be needing your assistance in that department anytime soon,” you try to let her down easily.
Nothing comes without a consequence though, and your mother leans forward in her seat. “And why would that be? Given up on dating?”
“You could say that,” you snort.
Your father’s eyes widen just slightly. “What aren’t you tellin’ us, kid?”
You shrug. You don’t feel like dating, you aren’t quite sure you ever want to again- not after the flames that your last relationship ended in. And without dating, you’ll never get married, and you’ll never give your parents the grandchild they so desperately want.
“Nora,” your dad nudges his wife with his elbow. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d say Y/N has a special person in her life and ain’t telling us.”
Aunt Jo looks at you, imploring you to confirm your father’s suspicion. So does your mother. And because you have a bit of liquid courage in your system, you give one firm nod. A little white lie never hurt anybody. But, you’re you- and things can never be put to rest when it comes to you. Immediately, your parents and aunt are firing questions out at you.
“Well, what’s their name?” your dad asks as he sips his whiskey.
You hadn’t thought this far, so you remain quiet as you silently go through the list of single people in your life. That list has gotten smaller and smaller, and it isn’t like you can name one of your old friends from high school because your mother would immediately dial their number for confirmation.
“Well?” Your dad looks at you expectantly.
When you still don’t answer, your mother elbows him with a roll of her eyes. “Let it rest, Al.” You think you’re in the clear. “She won’t tell us because she’s lyin’- just trying to get us off her back.” Your mother folds her arms over her chest and gives you a look to challenge her.
Before you can stop the words from tumbling out of your mouth, you say, “I’m not lying, Mom. Her name is Melissa. Melissa Schemmenti.”
Shit. Why did you say that?
“Oh? Melissa? Surely you have a picture of the two of you together,” your mom continues to push.
Not wanting her to find out that you’re lying completely, you pull out your phone and open up your gallery. There’s one photo of the two of you on Halloween last year- the one day of school that Janine called out of, so you and your work enemy were forced to take a picture, just the two of you, for the second grade team’s picture.
Your mother gives it a glance before looking at you, clearly impressed.
“You’re dating a coworker of yours? Pretty woman.”
“Yeah,” you shrug. “We’ve kept it kind of quiet though for a while now.”
“Well, if the two of you have been dating for a while, surely she’ll be coming with you to Christmas.”
“Mom,” you try to find a way out of this somehow now extravagant web of lies. “She’s doing stuff with her family.”
“She can’t take a couple days to spend it with her girlfriend?” Aunt Jo cuts in.
You take a deep breath and close your eyes. Wow, you’re more drunk than you thought you were. “I’ll talk to her, okay?”
“We look forward to seeing the both of you,” your father says pointedly. “Now, it’s getting late, you’re drunk. Go sleep it off, and I’ll have breakfast on the table at nine tomorrow.”
You make your rounds, kissing each of them goodnight, before trudging up the steps. God, you really shouldn’t have had that last glass of wine. You hope to God both your parents and your aunt were on the same level that you are right now- hopefully, they’ll forget what you said about having a girlfriend.
But come the next morning, at breakfast, all three of them make remarks about being excited to meet the redhead. And when you finally go to leave, your mother makes a comment about maybe bringing Melissa around to meet them before the entire family gets together.
As you walk to your car, you can’t help but curse. Fuck. Shit. Fuck. What are you going to do? They remember, they’ve seen a picture of her so it isn’t like you can hire an actor to play her, and nobody breaks up this close to the holidays. You’re going to have to ask her for help when you go to work on Monday.
Fuck.

Hi Jade, I love your writing, I’d love to request more of Steve with his twins x the reader who’s looking for the cat, if you’re interested in writing that! I gotta know if Evangeline is okay
hey babe, thank you for reading! here’s a part two for this | single dad!steve x fem!reader, 3.5k
Despite their very best efforts, Steve's twins can't find Evangeline the lost cat. Sarah, the loudest of the pair, is passionately displeased for a while.
"Dad," she grumbles, hand in his as they walk back home, "I wanted a party."
You promised via a written message on a flyer you'd given Steve that you'd celebrate with him if he found the lost cat. Steve's obviously no stranger to flirting, it's how he ended up with a kid on either side of him at all times, but he figures it was an offhanded sort of thing, some throwaway sweetness. He wouldn't have given much more thought to it, but when Sarah asked him to explain what she'd written he phrased it wrong, giving Sarah the idea that finding the cat would result in a popcorn party with soda pop and karaoke.
"I can throw you a party," Steve says. It's not especially difficult. He doesn't mind expending the extra effort. "We can have a snack party even if we don't find Evangeline. How does that sound, Charlie?"
Charlie's the quiet one. "It sounds fun," he says.
Steve ruffles his dirty blonde hair. The older he gets, the darker it grows. Sarah's hair is already way darker.
"Do you think Evangeline will be okay?" Sarah asks.
"I'm sure she'll be fine, Sar-bear. It's normal for kitty cats to run away when they're gonna have babies, they want to be alone."
"Why?" Charlie asks.
"Uh, well," Steve says, not really sure himself, "I think they're trying to keep the babies safe."
"Did you want to be alone?" Sarah asks.
Steve laughs out loud. He's relieved when they reach their front door, grabbing his keys from his coat pocket to unlock it. He doesn't know what to tell Sarah. Where to start? He didn't have the babies, and does she know that? He kind of thought she thought babies came from pumpkins and butternut squash like he told her a year ago. Lucky for him, Sarah forgets her question because she needs to pee, running up the stairs to the bathroom still in her shoes.
He'd rather her trek mud in than pee her pants, but he calls, "Take your shoes off, Sarah! And wash your hands after, please!"
"Yeah!" she shouts back.
Steve slings his backpack over the bannister and looks down at Charlie, who looks up with a similar expression. Rubbing his hands over his face, Steve drags his cheeks down and asks Charlie, "What are we going to do with her?"
"We could put her back in the pumpkin," Charlie says.
Steve beams. At least one of them still believes it. "We could," he says, kneeling down to help Charlie out of his shoes. "But I don't think she'd fit anymore."
Charlie puts his hands on Steve's shoulders and lifts his feet one at a time so Steve can take them off. He probably doesn't need Steve's help anymore, but Steve is genuinely horrified at the idea of his kids growing up, and he doesn't mind doing it a little longer anyhow. Shoes off, Charlie unzips his coat. Steve peels it off of his shoulders and hangs it up.
"Drink?" Steve asks.
"Yes, please."
He takes Charlie's hand where it's insisting at his hip and together they walk into the kitchen. There's no need for hand holding, but if Charlie wants it then Steve doesn't mind. Only thing is, it makes it difficult to pour juice into cups.
"Are you hungry, buddy?" Steve asks, lowering the cup to Charlie's level.
"Yeah. Dad, it's–"
"What do you want for dinner? Are you hungry enough for a big helping? Maybe I'll make lasagna."
"Dad, it's cold."
Steve frowns at Charlie where the little boy's curling in on himself. Steve picks him up, hands quick to cover his back but careful not to knock his drink over.
"Is it cold?" Steve hasn't taken his coat off yet. "I'm sorry, bud, let's turn up the thermostat."
"It's really cold."
Steve's feeling it now, a chill on his face that hints to an ajar window, or…
Steve carries Charlie the short distance to the dining room that leads off from the kitchen and opens the door. His suspicions are confirmed; the patio doors are wide open, letting the chill of a coming fall pervade the room.
"Woah," Charlie says.
"Woah," Steve repeats. He sits Charlie on top of the table and closes the doors, locking the leftmost with a concerned sigh. Open doors invite creepy crawlies that Charlie can't abide by, or worse, rats.
"Sorry, buddy, let's go find your blanket," Steve says, turning away from the doors. "And your sister."
He forgets about the open doors after a busy night. Sarah and Charlie make lasagna with him, and then they help him wash up. Sarah gets dish soap all over her and decides that she doesn't need a bath anymore because that's what dish soap is for, dad, she's clean now. He haggles with her, and they strike a deal that she will in fact be bathing tonight as long as they can have a party (sans Evangeline the cat) tomorrow.
She was going to get the party anyway. It's a sneaky dad win.
When they've both been bathed and dressed in clean pyjamas, Steve ushers the twins into their bedrooms and bids them both goodnight. Charlie falls asleep before Steve's even left the room, but Sarah takes a little more persuasion.
Steve sits on the side of her bed, his thumb stroking a line up and down the bridge of her nose to the spot between her eyebrows. Her lashes flutter with every crest.
"Do you think Evangeline will be okay?" she mumbles sleepily.
"Yeah, baby, I do. I think she'll be just fine. Don't worry about her, okay?"
"She must be lonely," Sarah says.
Steve leans in, speaking warmly. "What makes you think that? Because she's not home?" Sarah nods. Steve takes a big breath. "Well, think of it this way… She might be away from home, but she has her kittens with her, so she's not alone."
"Does she have a husband cat?"
"I bet she does. He might even be with her," Steve says.
"Maybe we can get a pet cat," she says.
Steve kisses the tip of her nose. "Nice try, Sar-bear."
She smiles, either from his joke or his affection, and touches his arm. "Maybe I can sleep in the big bed with you tonight?"
Steve would let her if he didn't think she was close to falling asleep already. "Tomorrow," he says, letting her down gently. He sits up, his hand on her forehead, stroking back her freshly clean hair. "I love you. Have good dreams, okay?"
"Okay, daddy. You too."
Her eyes shutter closed. He strokes her hair for a few minutes more to make sure she's asleep, before kissing her head, turning off her light, and closing the door.
He stands in the hallway for a second, checking his watch. It's later than they'd usually go to bed but still relatively early, nearing 10PM. He has enough time to swap the load of laundry from the washer to the dryer before he has his own shower, and he could probably squeeze some TV in if he doesn't mind falling asleep on the couch.
Steve does the laundry. He showers. He checks on the twins, peeking his head into their rooms. Sarah's asleep as he left her like a princess, and Charlie's curled up, a pill bug under three blankets.
Steve's scrubbing his hair dry with a towel on the way downstairs and wondering if there's any good ice cream in the freezer when he hears a weird sound. He knows what he thinks it is immediately, but the reality of it being said thing is too weird, too coincidental, and he really actually doesn't want to have to deal with it. His pulse quickens at a wooden knocking sound.
"No way," he says, ditching his towel on the kitchen counter top. He approaches the dining room door, resting his forehead against cold wood. "No fucking way."
The sound grows louder. Steve considers leaving the door closed and dealing with it tomorrow, but he can't. He has kids in the house. And if there's an animal in need of assistance, he doesn't wanna be the kind of person who doesn't help. Even if he's so, so tired.
—
"So you found her there?" you ask, eyebrows raised high.
Steve —Harrington, apparently, from your graduating class— rubs the back of his neck. "Would you believe me if I said the patio door was open?"
"I believe you, Steve, I'm just surprised at the coincidence."
Your neighbour, Serena, looks up from where she's poking at Evangeline the cat and her rabidly meowing brethren to grin. "It's a great coincidence. I'm so happy she's okay. And so sorry she decided to do this here."
Turns out you and the pretty dad from the park are almost neighbours, living one street away. He lives on Cherry Avenue. You live on Cherry Avenue West, as does Evangeline the cat.
"I can, uh, pay for the cleaning," Serena offers.
Evangeline has given cat-birth in the bottom of Steve's hutch, a solid oak piece with a glass front. It's the kind of furniture you'd expect in such a nice home, but the glass-fronted cabinet isn't lined with dishes. It's full of kids' arts and crafts.
Steve crosses his arms across his chest. "Don't worry about it. I've cleaned up worse stuff than that."
"Oh, no, please, let me pay for it. Or at least let me clean it myself."
"It's really no trouble," Steve says.
"It's definitely some trouble," you butt in mildly. "Me and Serena'll clean it, just as soon as we get these cats into crates."
You hadn't been expecting Steve to call you for a while. You'd hoped he'd find the cat, obviously, and hoped even if he didn't he'd try his luck with you. He's a handsome guy with big hands, lean arms, and a smile so gentle it tips into searing; you can't help smiling at him to get him to smile back. It makes your chest feel insanely tight.
There's nothing so thrilling as having a good-looking guy flirt with you. It doesn't happen often.
"If you think I'm gonna let you clean up in my house you've got another thing coming," he says with a bravado that's clearly self-aware. "You guys don't want a cup of coffee, do you? I need one."
"Sure," you say, "I'll help."
Steve's kitchen is the same as the rest of his house, cluttered and clean, lived in and proud of it. There's drawings on the fridge, homemade magnets, poorly painted mugs on a rack by the coffee pot. Kids live here, and they're loved here, evidenced by their artwork in pride of place, and the sheer amount of Goldfish you see in his cabinet when he retrieves a jar of coffee.
"The kids are in bed?" you ask.
"Yep. Though I doubt Charlie's sleeping, he can't sleep through the front door closing. The creaking scares him sometimes."
"Oh, shit, I'm sorry," you say.
Steve shoots you a smile from over his shoulder. "Don't be sorry," he says, unscrewing the coffee jar. "It's not your fault the cat wanted to have her kittens here. It's not even the cat's fault. Charlie will come down in a minute."
Steve's eerily right. The quiet thump of footsteps patter down the stairs, and the blonde little boy you'd met that afternoon appears at the end of the hall with a mess of cotton candy hair sticking up and a blanket around his shoulders. Steve pours you some freshly brewed coffee and offers you the mug.
"Milk is in the fridge," he says, his arm held out as he approaches his son. "Hey, Charlie. Sorry, we were being too loud, huh?"
Charlie slides behind Steve's legs. "It's not morning."
"No, sorry."
"Who's the lady?" he whispers.
"That's Y/N, we met her at the playground earlier, remember? Because of her friend's lost cat?"
Charlie leans around Steve's legs to sneak a glance at you. You smile and raise a hand to wave at him. He hides.
You bend at the waist. "Hi, Charlie. Sorry to make so much noise while you're sleeping, but we had to come over and see Evangeline. You can tell me off for being loud, I don't mind."
"It's okay," Charlie says.
You beam at him. "Really? Thank you. I promise we'll be much quieter and you can go back to sleep soon."
Steve brushes Charlie's hair back out of his eyes and down flat. "Want to sit on the counter?" he asks.
Charlie nods.
Steve picks Charlie up and puts him on the countertop next to his cooling coffee. Things are quiet and slightly awkward for a minute. You fill the silence with sips of coffee, while Steve's too preoccupied with his kid to touch his own. He rubs Charlie's back, a chubby cheek pulled into his chest, offering up treats in a murmur, "How about something warm? I can make you hot cocoa, you can have marshmallows, too. Would that make you feel better?"
"Are you having it too?" Charlie asks.
"No, I'm having coffee."
"Can I have some coffee?"
"You can have a little sip to see if you like it," Steve says.
You're surprised by his willingness to let Charlie try it, but it's not like he's force feeding him caffeine by the spoonful. Steve blows on the coffee for a few seconds and then holds Charlie's back. "Just a little bit, baby, it's hot and I don't think you'll like it. Just a little sip."
Oh, no, you think. He's so nice.
He's a very tender father. Gentle and patient. He helps Charlie take a little sip and he doesn't so much as blink when Charlie spits it back out into his mug. Steve fills a new mug with water and helps him wash away the taste, laughing without malice.
"I didn't think you'd like it," Steve says. "But good job for trying."
"It tasted sour," Charlie says.
"Are you sure?" Steve laughs again. He looks up at you and lowers his voice. "Would it be a problem for him to see the cats?"
"Are you kidding? Of course he can." You put your coffee down. "Do you like cats, Charlie?"
Charlie loves cats. When Serena's sure that Evangeline won't go into a defensive mom rage, she beckons Charlie forward to watch the kittens wriggling. They're not very active, having just been born, but they're cute, and alien in a way that's boggling. You fawn at his fawning.
"Don't touch," Steve says softly.
"Where's the pumpkin?" Charlie whispers.
"What?" you ask. You can't help yourself.
"Um." Steve trips over his words, "Um– he wants to know where the pumpkin is, where the kittens came out of. Because… that's where babies come from?"
Your lips part. Serena nudges you before you can say something idiotic, and you thank her in your head. "Oh, of course! Well, we had to put the pumpkin outside so the kittens had room to lay down."
It's not smoothly done, but Steve nods appreciatively. Charlie hums and sits back in Steve's lap. "Does Sarah get to have two parties now?" he asks.
You'd thought yourself fine at understanding children, but you never realised they spoke in code.
Steve's voice is almost melodical in its cadence, and his hands do a sort of waltz, a slow, practised manoeuvre as they settle around Charlie's front. "I don't know, buddy. I think one party is enough."
"What was her party for?" you ask.
"Well," Steve begins, "your flyer, she wanted to know what celebrating means. So I told her it meant like when you have a party, and she really likes parties, so she thought if we could find Evangeline, we'd get to have one. But when we couldn't find her, I said we'd have one anyways."
So he's a sweetheart, you think. Good to know.
"It's too bad she's still sleeping," you say. While she might not have found Evangeline, and Steve may not have found her purposefully, she deserves a treat just for looking. You're about to suggest it when Steve tilts his head to the side.
"It shouldn't be too long, now. She always knows when Charlie's not where she left him."
"What, like a sixth sense?" you ask, charmed.
"Exactly like a sixth sense. He was in the hospital for a few days a year ago and she didn't sleep for two whole days. Which is weird 'cos they have separate bedrooms," —you bite back a huge smile at the impassioned tone of his retelling— "and she hasn't slept in the same bed as him in two or three years, but it didn't matter."
"That's sweet, though," you say.
"She loves him more than anyone in the world," Steve says easily. He dips his voice down into a playful grumbling, "But Charlie loves me most. Don't you Charlie?"
They must have had this teasing before, as Charlie knows exactly what to say, giggling and affectionately fond as he protests, "No, dad."
"What?" Steve asks incredulously.
"I love Sarah most."
"Sarah's not here to hear you, buddy."
"I love Sarah the most, and then you, and then Aunt Robin and Aunt Cory, and then grandma." He's apparently been coached on it.
Steve meets your eyes over Charlie's head. "Can't blame a guy for trying."
Sarah appears not long after, clearly surprised by strangers in her house and her dad on the dining room floor. She walks forward, bunny ears on her slippers wagging with each step, eyes blinking sluggishly.
"Daddy?"
"Sarah," he greets. "Guess what? I found Evangeline."
Sarah realises what she's seeing, and nothing can prepare you for how high-pitched she squeals. "Are those kittens?" she asks, stepping over Steve's knee. You stabilise her when she pitches forward and prevent a disaster. "Oh my god, dad! Can we pet them?"
"No, we can't, I'm sorry," he says, "they're still shiny brand new. And sticky."
Sarah's disappointed but doesn't whine. She sits politely beside you and watches the kittens climbing blindly atop one another, her pyjamas warm against your crossed leg.
"As soon as I take them to the vets, you guys can be the first to pet them," Serena says, finally tearing her attention away from her darling Evangeline. "How's that sound?"
"Really?" Sarah asks.
"If it's okay with your dad, absolutely."
You reckon Steve couldn't say no if he wanted to. You all stay there like that for a while, talking in quiet tones until Charlie's falling asleep in Steve's lap and Serena decides it's now or never, attempting to usher Evangeline and the kittens into the huge cat carrier she'd procured. Thank yous and no problems are exchanged at the door, Steve with Charlie in his arms as though the boy, who looks to be five or older, weighs nothing. Sarah waves her hand at the kittens as Serena takes them to the car.
"Dad, we really need a cat," she says.
Steve pats her shoulder momentarily. "Maybe one day."
You hover at the porch step, because there's something you want to ask. It might be odd, but getting this little sneak peek into their life, seeing Steve in action, you can admit to both having a small crush on him as well as wanting to see him again. Even if it turned out to be nothing, you'd want to see him. He seems interesting, charming, and so ridiculously loving; you could use a little love in your life.
"Listen," you say, twirling your car keys around your finger nervously, "about that celebration…"
Steve hikes Charlie further up his chest. "The party?"
"I mean, you did find her. And I'd like to keep my end of the bargain, so maybe… we could celebrate sometime? Together?"
Steve's hand covers the back of Charlie's head. "Are you asking me out?"
You look away from him, accidentally locking eyes with Sarah, who's smiling at his hip like you're the best thing since sliced bread.
"Only if you want to," you say.
"We would love to!" Sarah says.
You can see the moment that Steve bites back a smile. "What she said. We'd love to." He hikes Charlie up again. He must be heavier than he looks. "I really have to put them to bed, but– I'll call you," he says. "Cool?"
"Cool," you say. He generously ignores how breathless you sound, and you say goodnight.
Serena's telling Evangeline off in the car as though she's a reckless teenager when you climb in, but it isn't without love. "What's so unsafe about your own home, Eva? We had that wardrobe all decked out for you, and you chose some random guy's dining room. Some random hot guy," she says pointedly. "Tell me you asked him out."
"What?" you ask, laughing nervously. "I don't know what you're talking about."
She stares at you.
"Okay, fine! Yeah, I asked him out," you admit.
She cheers, "Woo! Good thing. He deserves a nice date with a pretty girl like you after that. We never cleaned out his hutch, you realise?"
You flush all over. "Oh, fuck."
"That might put a dampener on the appetisers."

After March had pestered Dan Heng one too many times, he's finally had enough of her antics. In a surprising turn of events, March's oh-so-genius idea of using Stelle as a human shield unexpectedly worked...for now, at least.

❥Ler!Dan Heng, March 7th (briefly)
❥Lee!Stelle, March 7th (briefly)
❥This fic is entirely platonic/familial. • Additional brief mentions and appearances from Pom-Pom are included in this fic as well! There are also brief mentions of Himeko and Welt, but no actual appearances from them.
❥Small disclaimer ;; I use They/Them pronouns for Pom-Pom here (I think those are the canon pronouns too), as well as They/She pronouns for Stelle (argue. with. the. wall. 🧱 /lh)
❥Rahhh, hi @yellowelectroslime!!! I'm your squealing santa delivery driver person!!!!! I had bad burnout during the process of writing this, as well as a good old-fashioned diagnosis of the sad and unfortunate concept that is writer's block (it's 12:32am as I'm currently posting this but I'll be off to bed soon bc i gotta wake up for school in like 5 hours help), I'm so, so, SO sorry for taking this long!!! I hope you've had a happy new year and the best of your holidays!!!
❥So happy to have participated in @squealing-santa for a second time!! I think I've improved from my squealing santa fic in 2023!
❥Anyways this trio has me sobbing and weeping on my knees. After hearing March's constantly cheerful and goofy laughs during her dialogue and the very rare moments that Dan Heng chuckles, I genuinely need to hear how Stelle's laugh would sound ingame. Thankfully, her voice actor (I love Rachael Chau /platonic) sounds deathly similar to her character so it's very easy to imagine!!!!
❥Please bare with me as I may go a little off character, this is my 2nd ever hsr fic (the stelle and march fic i wrote like prob almost 2 years ago is so- aagghh i hate it pls stop reading my old stuff guys 😭😭😭😭😔😔😔😔💔💔💔 /sar)
❥This fic takes place before the events of either Jarilo-IV or the Xianzhou Luofu, mainly during the time where Stelle had first joined.

March 7th had, once yet again, dug her own metaphorical grave even deeper than previously. She had been told off countless times by both Dan Heng, and Pom-Pom.
Well, mainly Dan Heng.
She would always constantly pester the archivist in his work, always determined to get the stoic man to learn her optimistic ways, himself. Despite this, he had always gotten onto her for the bothersome attempts; eventually resulting in the poor conductor having to start dragging her away.
It was always the same old "Don't bother passenger Dan Heng while he's working! Pom-Pom's told you already, you know better!" from the conductor, yet she wasn't planning to back down just yet.
Well she eventually did listen, though not for very long. It wasn't until Stelle had joined the express crew that an idea clicked into March's brain. A risky idea, at that. Knowing that Stelle wouldn't necessarily know any better about being outside of her room (or near someone like Himeko or Mr. Yang, for that matter actually) whenever she was acting out her schemes and antics, March grinned while the cogs and gears turned in her brain.
It was a very calm and peaceful afternoon on the Astral Express. Himeko was peacefully brewing her coffee, Welt was interacting with Pom-Pom (who was currently cleaning up), and Stelle had just woken up and was greeting the others as she had exited the party car, her room being on its second floor.
Meanwhile, March was in the hallway of the passenger cabin, completely bored out of her mind until she could almost immediately hear the frustrated and irritated groans coming from Dan Heng. Deciding to walk towards the door, and slightly peek in, she noticed him working on something in the data bank.
That's when March thought of a silly little idea to annoy the aloof train guard. Pom-Pom, having been walking by, noticed this and gave a glare towards March before they spoke up quietly.
“March, don't you dare. If you even bother passenger Dan Heng again, Pom-pom's not going to save you this time.”
But even still, March did not listen. It was to be expected at this point, though it was still pretty annoying for the crew at times. Just as the conductor strutted away into the parlor car, March began to strategize her plan. All she intended to do this time was just sneak up behind the archivist and startle him with a few taps to his shoulder and hide somewhere to snap a picture of his reaction.
That was what she *intended * to have happened. How it actually *went *, on the other hand..
March sneaking in and hiding was the easiest part of all, since Dan Heng happened to have a couple of empty boxes stacked up in the archives that he hadn't gotten rid of just yet. Therefore, she could hide behind those. Getting to start the second part of her plan, however, was a teensy bit more challenging. He seemed to be quite active in the archives today, so she had to wait out a while of him just walking around.
Thankfully, he stopped right in front of the data bank to work on it and update some things. Whether or not he was actually distracted didn't matter to her, March was just glad that this would work out all too smoothly for her.
..Or so she thought.
As soon as she knew the coast was clear, March set her camera up to immediately snap a couple of photos within a few seconds of initial delay. During that process, she had changed her mind of how she'd actually approach Dan Heng. She remembered how a few times of being asked, Dan Heng would always deny the possibility of him being ticklish and everybody always having gone along with it so as to not annoy him.
This didn't sit right with her, though. She had her mind set on his very reaction. After making sure that her camera was perfectly set up, She'd set the delay to about 11 seconds before pressing the button and slowly sneaking up on Dan Heng from behind. March's mistake, however, was not considering whether or not he was actually distracted enough.
Even still, she had “successfully” snuck up on him. As a result, she'd immediately poke and prod, as well as squeezing gently, at his sides before immediately hurrying back to behind the boxes after the photos were snapped. She was sure that he hadn't expected it and had to wait a bit before the photos were completely processed, yet she still “succeeded” in her plan.
Her second mistake was not actually checking Dan Heng's expressions as she went to hide once more.
After quietly and patiently waiting a few moments, her photos were eventually processed. March looked at the photos with vast excitement, only to look a bit shocked when she noticed how all the photos were of Dan Heng staring right at the camera intently, albeit with a slight smirk on his lips. Before she knew it, Dan Heng could be seen staring at her from the other side of the boxes with a dry chuckle escaping, despite himself.
“Seems you really thought this through, haven't you?” Dan Heng murmured in faux curiosity. “What a shame, you *almost* had me there. Don't think I'll let this act of your's slide, though.”
Just as he spoke, he began to try and approach her. Slightly panicky, though more playful than terrified, March bolted off without her camera. She was looking for a way to protect herself from the stoic guard, when she suddenly figured it out.
During all of this, Stelle had entered the hallway to go and ask Dan Heng about something, when she suddenly felt a tight hug from behind and gasped slightly in surprise. “Aah-! March?! What's going on- AHAhah-! Wahaihit! Dohon’t use me ahahas your humahan shield!”
Stelle could almost immediately tell that by Dan Heng jogging over and the light scribbling against her ribcage, March was trying to use her to get out of Dan Heng's retaliation. Though Dan Heng stopped in front of them to question it, this wasn't necessarily going to do any good for Stelle's defense.
“So now we're just resorting to using Stelle as the equivalent of whenever a criminal uses their hostage as a way to avoid my scolding, are we?” Dan Heng replied with yet another dry chuckle, though a bit more playful.
“Nuh uh! You'll have to get through Stelle first, Dan Heng! She's my accomplice, don't listen to her!
Despite the fact that he knew this would be exactly how March responded, Dan Heng would still be more merciful on Stelle since he knew that it was March's doing, alone. Yet, that still didn't stop him from having to quite literally get through Stelle first.
“Waihit! I- I nehever agreed to ahany of this! Plehease no! I have a fahamihily of nihine to feed! I-..! I have so muhuhuch to live fohohor!” Stelle, still giggling from March's light scribbles, was practically pleading for Dan Heng to spare her. Though she was being a bit dramatic and silly, it was pretty funny to see her giggling like this.
“Hmhm, your melodrama is actually pretty amusing to listen to. You almost managed to get a chuckle out of me there. I must say, you're quite the source of entertainment, Stelle.” Dan Heng murmured in amusement.
Approaching a little more, his fingers reached her ribcage and softly skittered around the sides. This sudden action left the poor trailblazer’s voice to pitch up slightly in octave from how ticklish the spot was for Stelle. She pleaded a bit, even twisting and turning a little to try and escape, though all attempts were in vain.
“NooOHhoo! DaAHAn HeeHEng! Waihihiit! Nahaohoott theheehe ribcaHAhaAaaage! P—PleheEAhease!”
March was practically beaming in excitement as her plan was working out so well for her. ..Almost *too* well, that is.
While she was set on waiting off Dan Heng’s efforts with this tactic of hers, the aloof guard was already two steps ahead of her. After a couple moments of Stelle practically crumbling under barely any effort from the tickling, he finally let up. While his first idea was to make sure Stelle had held up alright afterwards, he had a certain bubbly menace to deal with first.
“March,” Dan Heng started, his voice lowering slightly that could scare even Welt, himself, if used in certain circumstances. “Don’t think you're off the hook just because you dragged Stelle into this.”
Oh no.
March immediately took the signs and realized that what Pom-Pom had said earlier, mainly about not saving her from Dan Heng this time, really *was * genuine. She let out a few sheepish and nervous laughs before slowly backing up a bit and attempting to retreat to her own room. Dan Heng managed to grab onto her wrist though, trapping her in a hug from behind before slightly turning his line of vision to Stelle.
“You alright now? I’m assuming you needed something, so I'll get back to that once I deal with her.” Stelle nodded at his words, taking a few moments to catch her breath while she watched Dan Heng practically drag March back to her room.
Soon enough, high pitched squeals were audible from where Stelle had stood. While the trailblazer had eventually calmed down, she was still unsure how long it would take for Dan Heng to return; especially considering how much of a handful March could be sometimes.
She didn't necessarily pay any mind to it, however, and just waited inside of the archives. She picked out an interesting enough book, sitting down in the train guard's office chair for the time being to wait things out. Besides, it wouldn't be anytime soon that Dan Heng would be finished, after all, and Stelle wasn't impatient or busy today.

Summer Girl
summary: Rafe and his summer girl scramble for more time.
word count 1.4k
a/n big thanks to lynn cause i probably wouldn’t have posted this without her</3 im sorry if it seems rushed🙁 I’ve looked over it so many times I’m kinda sick of it
The shrieks of Sarah as topper flings her over his shoulder are deftly drowned by Rafe’s intent fixation on her. The slope of her nose, her shoulders, her pretty eyes, the downturn of her lips as she focuses on the waves. It’s a quiet moment between the both of them, it suffocates Rafe in the best way possible.
It’s a warm summer day, the sun shining down achily, no cloud in sight. The water crystal and shiny, the waves big and disturbed by Topper and Sarah’s loud joyousness. They splash, and kick, they scream, and giggle. It’s a disgusting show of PDA, if you ask Rafe.
He turns his gaze back to her, watches her hands ball into the sand, let it go, and worm her fingers under the warm grain. He never knew he could find so much fondness in the quiet with her, in the chilly summer days with her. He’s a party boy, as he’d say, through and through.
“Put me down!” Sarah’s shrill voice giggles over crashing waves.
Rafe had laughed when his summer fling proclaimed her love for the summer. Boyish disinterest when she sighed about salty skin and dinners at the club after beach days, more interested on when he’d kiss her agin. You couldn’t blame the boy, pretty girl laying in his bed and all, but now he understood.
“Is it because of me?” Rafe had said, poking her side playfully. “Am I the reason you love summer so much, hmm?”
“Yes,” She smiled at him, tilting her head back into the pillows to stare at his ceiling, “but it’s also the ocean, the way bonfires smell when the fire mixes with the salt of the beach.”
He didn’t understand, didn’t care to ask. Too poetic for the teen boy.
“The way I looks in my midsummers tux?” Rafe adds, turning on his side.
“The way you looks in your midsummers tux, the hotdogs your dad makes during pool days, Roses lemonade.”
“It’s so fucking good.” He sighs dramatically, dropping his head in the crook of her neck, blotting some sneaky kisses haphazardly. Her arm wraps around him instinctually as she smiles.
“So fucking good.” She agrees.
He understands what she had been talking about now. He had teased that her love for summer was because of him, but wasn’t that why he loved summer? Her?
“What are you thinking about, handsome?“
Her hand comes up cupping his cheek, thumb swiping over his lips curiously. Her gaze matches his and deep down he knows she’s admiring him how he admires her. Greedy for attention, sick on love. He doesn’t know how to feel about it. Excitement sits deep in his chest.
“You.” He mumbles, dopey smile on his lips as her hand sneaks back to scratch the back of his newly shaved head. He leans into the touch “You wanna get in again?”
She’s warm on her towel, letting golden hour soak into her dried skin. “With you?”
“With me.” He nods.
“I’m hungry,” Her touch is pulled from him as she sits up. “The Wreck?”
He sits up as well. “You know it.”
“Should we invite Top and Sar?”
His slow glare pulls her lips up prettily. “No, we shouldn’t.”
“They might be hungry you know.” She shakes her head. “Out in the sun all day, swimming with us.”
“They’ll manage.” He stands up, sighing tiredly and wiping his legs of rogue sand left on his damp skin. She looks up at him confusedly. “You coming, sunny?”
She smiles at the nickname. “We gotta pack up.”
“They’ll manage,” He repeats, jutting his hand out for her to grab. “come on.”
She shakes her head again, slipping her hand in his and letting him use his body weight to lift her. “I’m only letting you do this because I’m so hungry.”
He doesn’t let go of her hand, readjusting and giving it a firm squeeze. “Is that so?” They walk past Sarah’s Jeep.
“Yes, i could just eat a cow.” She swings their fingers.
He smiles and she turns away in delight. “What’re you ordering?”
“A cheese burger and fries, with a milkshake.” She smiles at him. “And Kiara’s Mac n cheese, and-“
“Mac n Cheese? That’s not on the menu?”
“Not for you.” He rolls his eyes.
“Mac n Cheese, and onion rings, and fried shrimp, and a biscuit, with jelly.”
“Grape.” He adds.
“Yes. Grape jelly.”
“Anything else?”
“Tater tots,” She brings their fingers up and kisses his knuckles. “With cheese and bacon.”
“You’re trying to send me in debt.”
“You’ll manage.” She beams.
—
“Are you gonna miss your touron when she leaves?” She teases lightly, flicking her straw wrapper at him. He dodges swiftly. Flicking it to the other side of the table. She used to roll her eyes at couples who shared a booth bench, but now she couldn’t imagine sitting so far from her summer boy.
“You’re not a fuckin touron.” Rafe rolls his eyes.
“Yes I am.”
“No you’re not.” He puts out, gruffer than he meant. He feels bad.
“Then what am I?”
“You live a ferry away,” He leans in, both his elbows on the table “2 hours baby, and you’re here for every major holiday.”
“Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring break, summer.”
“You remember the time you convinced your mom to let you take the ferry so you could trick or treat with Sarah?” She smiles at him fondly. That was Halloween seven. Sarah and Y/N’s first, and only, Halloween with each other.
“You remember that?”
“Uh, yeah? What were you again? Velma and Daphne?” She sits back in her chair. “Yeah, baby, I remember things.”
“You hated me back then.”
His head twitches affronted. “No i didn’t?”
“You called us tweedle dee and tweedle dum.” He laughs, unashamed by Mr. And Mrs. Cooper eyeing him at table three.
“Okay, yeah, i did that.”
She sighs and he tilts his head to catch her eye.
“You’re not a touron.” It comes out more assuringly this time.
She nods. “I know.”
“So what’s this about, huh?” He shakes his head, knocking his foot with hers. It’s silent. “What’s this about, baby?”
“I’m gonna miss you.” She snakes her arms around him, pulling him in and breathing in the cologne that stuck to his wet body hungrily. His arms wrap around her neck, his nose buries in her wet hair.
“Me too,” he says muffled. “I always do, you know that.”
“But it was never like this summer.” She sighs.
“This summer?” He questions.
“You never had to miss us while we were a thing. I never had to miss us.”
The words hang over their heads oppressingly. Thing. They were a thing. Last year they weren’t a thing, neither the year before that. They never had to mourn a blooming relationship. He doesn’t know what to say.
Her phone buzzes.
Y’all just up and left us
rude :(
She looks away. Ignores it. He doesn’t like to see her so upset. It takes his heart between cruel fingers and squeezes it meanly. “We’ll figure it out.” She nods in response, letting Rafe pull her into his side, pressing a long warm kiss into her hair. It’s prolonged by his want to be close to her forever, to never let her go back. “You can stay.”
“I can stay.” She weighs the pros and cons of moving to the banks. She’d have Sarah as her neighbor 24/7, Rafe has her boyfriend, not just for the summer. She’d have a fall boyfriend, winter boyfriend, spring boyfriend, and when it came to it, summer boyfriend all over again. She never liked the kids on the mainland anyways, they didn’t get the obx the way she did.
“You can stay.” He affirms.
“I can stay with my grandpa.” He’d been practically begging her to move in since she was 16.
“You know he’s been inviting you to move in for years.”
“And go to the academy.” Get my grandad to put me in all of Sarah’s classes.
“Chapel Hill in a year.” Apartment with Rafe.
She looks up at him. He looks down at her. She laughs at his attention and sticks her face in his warm chest. “I’m moving to the banks.”
“You’re moving to the banks baby!” His arms wrap around her deftly, moving them side to side in quick celebration. “This deserves some cake.”

Hi! I hope you’re doing good
I’ve seen a few anons mention how it’s okay to only be here for Dream/dteam. And how a lot of the other Minecraft-based CCs are seemingly jealous of all the success Dteam have had, and think that deplatforming them will make way for us to move to their content. And I want to say I agree.
I became a fan of (dream first, then SNF) them in 2020 when it was peak Covid time. I was a sophomore in college, and my brother was in kindergarten; I was trying to find things to relate with him, and stumbled into the Minecraft sphere, cause he likes Minecraft. I was hoping to find someone current and semi-child friendly, and I stumbled upon dreams videos. I watched them first before showing them to my little brother, and after deciding I liked them, we now watch dreams videos together.
As someone who had limited access to the internet as a kid, and knows like next to nothing about Minecraft, I’m really only here for Dteam. Cause I enjoy their content and it brought my brother and I closer. If I stop being a fan of Dteam, I’m honestly probably going to just leave the Minecraft sphere altogether, considering Dteam are what’s keeping me here (not that I haven’t met some amazing people, but you get what I mean).
It’s very telling the agenda of these CCs the more I become offline and take a look at the bigger picture. I said this earlier, but their content is based on a fleeting hatred for the internets current punching bag. If they ever stop expressing hatred or, god forbid, Dteam get deplatformed, all the “fans” they think they had will be gone. Because with no common perceived enemy, there’s nothing keeping them tied to those creators. And so they’ll go back to whatever they were doing before-hand.
I wanted to extend some semblance of sympathy to these CCs, cause it’s really hard to make a career out of this, but they’re also going about it the wrong way, and my sympathy doesn’t exist anymore. If the only content you have is performative activism, then maybe you should consider a different career path.
Adding on to that, let’s say I do stop watching Dteam, or the “behind the scenes” stuff wasn’t just petty grievances. Why would I then go watch the people that have been harassing, bullying, threatening the same people I was just a fan of the entire time I was their fan? If dteams morals are so bad, what makes theirs any better? And why would I support theirs, when I wouldn’t support someone else’s bad morals? (Again, hypothetical, cause I’m still a fan and all the “bts” stuff ARE petty grievances).
They’re so blinded by their hatred and jealousy that they cannot see they’re destroying their own careers with this. There’s a reason outside of Twitter, a lot of people don’t know who these creators are, and the only reason they do is because they stick their noses everywhere.
It’s become apparent the last few weeks that outside of Twitter- where their core fanbase IS NOT- people are seeing these CCs for what they are and it’s driving them away from any content they might produce. They’re driving away potential fans acting like this, and they can’t even see it, cause they’re so focused on dteam (mainly dream). Maybe focus on your own career, before trying to take down someone else’s, especially when you have nothing career-ending over them.
So again, why would I stop being a fan of people I liked for so long, and stuck around for the good, bad, ugly, and sometimes dangerous (gotta love doxxing /sar), to immediately go be a fan of people that contributed to the absolute onslaught of horrid treatment of the people I was a fan of? It doesn’t make sense.
Unlike them, I’m not going to compromise my morals and make a big public spectacle to then privately do the opposite. I dropped Wilbur after Shelby came out with her story. I was more than willing to drop Dream if his allegations were proven correct, and the same goes for George. That’s what these CCs don’t understand. I’m a human first before I’m a fan. And that humanity stays with me wherever my interests take me.
Sorry it’s so long; I know you probably have a lot of asks. But still appreciate you taking the time to read this anyway.
Have a good day, my favorite source of tea!
-L :)
Thank you for sharing L ! I think you bring up some very good points about consuming content/CCs and just Being A Person
