Just played the demo and it's sooo god! 😍 Replayed it several times already.

I've tried every type of playthrough for each wayhaven book. Like, literally every single one... for each stat, personality, type of relationship with each RO, who your BFF is....etc...

I'm just obsessed with how even small things changes the dialogue, I can't help it, it's like Pokemon, I gotta catch them all 🤣

And I already know i'll replay this one the most 😍 and it has absolutely nothing to do with the hot Villain, or the MC getting awesome super powers. Or the angst. Or the mental image of a MC going full on "Unlimited Power!" On the next Murphy, or Anwir, or Bobby, definitely not Bobby. Nope.

Not. At. All.

Anyways...

So I just have to ask (Even though i'm guessing we're going into spoiler territory) how is the Villain as a RO? Right now i'm getting the feeling that they (mostly) wants MC for this "power" they keep mentioning, but is there another reason?

Also just for fun, like in the other RO asks, where does the Villain land in the rankings? For most clingy, emotional, affectionate, etc. Then, of course the most important one, Jealousy. I know we can't really pursue the Villain if we're already romancing someone, but how do they feel about the "competition"? Are they not worried/bothered at all, or should we prepare to go full on supernatural prepper mode and look for underground bunkers for our RO? 😳

If it's the latter i'm guessing my MC is going to check if Sin is willing to side hustle as our RO's bodyguard...

Whether RO agrees to it or not.

(Yes Adam/Ava and Mason/Morgan i'm talking to you!) because I WILL protect you against your will. Deal with it or I swear i'll go full on lovey dovey mode on you, with daily, heart on your sleeve love confessions and love poems.

Oh, interesting questions for Li-Sar, hehe! :D

As I've said multiple times—and will keep saying, lol!—the villain is very much a villain. They're not like Falk or Sin where things get a bit morally one way or other kind of thing.

Li-Sar is a power-hungry villain.

But, saying that, if you choose to do the romance route fully, then they will love the MC. They will fall as deep as the vampires do.

BUT this is still a villain romance. Li-Sar is not a good person, lol!

The way it will play is like the vampires in that it is a love that is a soul-mate kind of thing, your MC feels for Li-Sar and can't help it (though there will be lots and lots of times to be able to pull out before fully committing to the romance, but once you're in it, you're in it—and I will put a warning in game about when it will be locked in).

As a romance option Li-Sar is intense, tempting, and overwhelming, but also surprisingly gentle and…needful.

As for when you can't romance Li-Sar (if you're already on a vampire romance route), Li-Sar doesn't do well with competition, and will make that very plainly clear!

hi sera! Please don't feel obligated to respond to these but I couldn't help but ask since these questions were literally on my mind all day. :)

Question number 1. I think there was going to be a ball in this book or something? So will we get the option for the MC to wear the most jawdropping, astonishing, heartstopping, eyewidening outfit? Just to spite Adam ofc lol.

Question number 2. Will the MC be prone to magical outbursts since they have powers now and can't obviously control them? Like if the MC got really upset or angry or any strong emotion really and the magic just couldn't be contained?

I'm sorry that's the best way I could explain it, help.

Question #1: Yes, for sure, lol! I'm still working out how to offer the options in the best way, as I want as many options as possible without it being overwhelming!

so I think I'm one of the few who do t really trust the agency. it's probably just my inherent dislike of shady government things but I was wondering if down the line making our detective distrusting of the agency is going to have an impact? there's been quite a few choices for it but it's not played out too much yet (ngl I love the angst of agency loyal A and agency hater detective haha)

Now you're part of the Agency, it's definite that'll come into effect more.

Though, as a writer, I'm still having an interesting time on how to balance this, lol! Having that distrust show or MCs who want to make it obvious that they don't agree with their methods, etc…while still having them work with the Agency and not just split ways...?

It's certainly something I'm playing with ideas of how to really make an impact and not just be some throw away stat, if that makes sense?

The Wayhaven Chronicles— Update 15/Nov/2024

Loads of tasks checked off the list this week!

Edits from the editor for chapter 4 went in, so I can send that over the final readers. I finished the rewrites and my edits for chapter 5, so I’ve sent that over to the editor. And I prepped and started writing on chapter 6!

I also did a recheck on the villain romance to work on pacing. It’s really strange going back to a romance that needs to happen within the space of one book, lol! I can’t have it going slow, or it won’t build enough to feel impactful at the end, but then I also can’t have it go too fast, or it won’t feel like it’s built enough to create the connection…it’s a tough balance!

Really working on that ‘love at first sight’ and ‘it’s fated’ feel for it to help with that—plus I just love that in romances, hehe! :D

Very excited for what’s coming in the next chapter! It’s the first time I’ll be writing Rebecca’s POV in the main game, which is going to be seriously interesting, especially considering what’s happening in the scene…

For those wondering about the next demo release, I’m looking at a New Year’s release. Something to give a fun and exciting start to 2025!

Next week, I’ll be pushing on with chapter 6, as well as starting to look at getting the special Winter scenarios for December on Patreon up together now the polls are over! Hoping those come out as I can see them in my head, hehe! :D

Totally get it if this is too spoiler-y, but will there ever be stat checks for the research and combat routes? I like to mix up the routes between books (I try to explore them all because they’re amazing), but I wasn’t sure if it would be better to focus on one route per MC?

There are checks for the research and combat routes, yes. I've actually already got some in Book Four.

I wanted a couple of books to build those stats before I started using them, and Book Four seems the perfect place to start bringing those in.

But, if you decide to keep a balance between the two, the story also accounts for that.

In the Twilight community, there's a lot of genuine love and sarcasm with the movies and books; with how cheesy and trope-y everything is. Do you also view Wayhaven with a similar tongue-in-cheek campiness? (in a good way, of course)

Yes, very much so :D

This is a vampire romance fiction with so much melodrama you can't turn the page without angst spilling out all over it, hehe!

Wayhaven is my escape, it's where I get the chance to write the tropes and things that I love but haven't had a chance to put my own twist on yet.

I'm not trying to write something new , a classic, or anything thought-provoking. It really is just a story to dive into and romance some hot vampires and feel like the 'chosen one' in a story that focuses on your character!

If it was something I was trying to turn into a classic, there certainly would be a whole lot less puns, lol! ;D

But it is still something I take seriously. I pour my everything into Wayhaven for the best escapist experience, and I hope people enjoy for that!

The Wayhaven Chronicles—Update 08/Nov/2024

This week started with Nai in hospital, so it wasn’t the greatest beginning! She is home now though, thankfully. Still on the mend but getting there.

It was also kind of a nice time too, oddly, as I got to talk with her properly, and I was talking to her about the Bobby and Douglas branch routes, and the 'lore' route. And I was getting really animated about it (as I always do when talking Wayhaven!), and it was just so awesome to not only talk about everything coming up but to just realise, even at this stage, how much I utterly love this story and characters and how excited I am for everything still to come!

But the unexpected weekend and start to the week did put things behind a bit. And then I decided to rewrite the entirety of the ending of Chapter 5. I kinda knew I was going to do it when going into editing. It just…didn’t focus on the right thing for the moment, and it was bugging me! :D

It is individual love interest scenes, something always a bit more impactful anyway, and I wanted a bit of foreshadowing of something coming up in a later book, but…it was just too much to fit in when there was already another major focus needed on this scene on something specific to this book!

So, I tried to rework them instead, but it wasn’t happening, so I pulled off the band aid quickly and just deleted it all. Oh man, it’s always so painful to get rid of thousands of words of work—and not something I do often, as I do believe what someone writes instinctually first is probably the right choice!—but sometimes it’s just got to be done.

Saying that though, I’m catching up really fast and these scenes are waaaay better! Much more concise and can put proper focus on just the one thing as well as the MC and LI’s reactions to it and the shared moment after.

I’m hoping to have these rewrites finished up by early next week, and then the final bit of editing to get this chapter done.

Chapter 4 edits are coming back to me too, so I’ll get those added in next week before moving onto the next chapter!

Rebecca really doesn't want to get involved in that side of the MC's life.

But she does has reservations about the MC and Nate/Nat.

Nate/Nat has some…secrets that make them more than they seem, and knowing those secrets, Rebecca really hopes N is going to admit them soon, or her lack of involvement may change...

Will we get to be in a relationship with Adam in book 4? Like you said this will be a seven books series, but my heart can't take it anymore if it has to be in the last books that I can be lovey dovey with him T^T And I just want to ask first to prepare mentally, not forcing you to have it in there! Adam/Ava won't get into a relationship with the MC in Book Four, but there will be much more close romance in Book Four for Adam/Ava. I really wanted to give A-mancers a bit of a break before the angsty intensity coming up when Adam/Ava takes two steps back in progress.

BUT A-mancers will be in a relationship long before the end of the series so they can enjoy actually being with A together in a couple.

I do love me some pining and angst, but even I have my limits for will-they-won't-they, lol! :D

If you choose to romance Li-Sar in Book Four, then that romance will be locked, as it is with the other romances.

The Wayhaven Chronicles—Update 01/Nov/2024

Chapter 5 writing is finished! And I even began editing!!

I forgot I had to write variations for the end scene of this chapter with the different love interests, but even with that I managed to get it finished! :D

I loved all the scenes, but there was one particular scene that I super enjoyed!

So, if you’re not on the Bobby or Douglas story branches, you get a different branch altogether. As with the Tina and Verda branches, if you choose not to tell either of them, you are on the ‘chill’ story branch, as I like to call it, hehe! It’s the same for the Bobby and Douglas branches. If you don’t go for either of those, then you get this ‘chill’ story branch instead.

This will be where I get to go into a bit more about lore or characters or even the MC’s father!

I wanted to offer a couple of story branches that were more relaxed as the main story itself can be quite intense (especially in Books 4 and 5!), so for those wanting to just enjoy the main story without being overwhelmed by side stories too, then these options are there.

And it was amazing fun to bring back an old character and have the choice to dive more into lore (or Rook…).

Next week, I’ll be keeping up editing with this chapter with the goal of finishing that.

Then it’ll be straight onto Chapter Six—a chapter where A LOT of intensity is happening, but in the most deliciously angsty ways possible…hehe! ;D

So I have a question in regards to soulmates! If the Detective/MC dies and gets reincarnated (hypothetically, IF reincarnation exists), is it still possible for their romanced Unit Bravo member to fall in love with their reincarnation? I love the "falling in love with you in every life" trope.

This trope seems so intrinsically linked with vampire stories, I don't see how it couldn't hold true in Wayhaven too, hehe! :D

Which one of UA would be guilty and which would not be, and what would they see in the mirror?

I think all would actually be Not Guilty (they're all much more emotionally well-adjusted than Unit Bravo, lol), except for Tane.

I think most would not be very happy with me for the amount of angst I put them through, lol! :D

Felix/Farah would probably bombard me with questions about how it all works as well as what is to come. And then ask why I do all of this and don't go out and enjoy more experiences, to which I would have to explain how social anxiety works, lol!

Nate/Nat would be fascinated by the process of how it all works, bringing a character from an idea to an actual person…then ask some painfully hard hitting questions about their past and why.

Adam/Ava and Mason/Morgan…I think I'd go into hiding from these two and the rage they'd have for me, hehe!

The Wayhaven Chronicles - Update 26/October/2024

This week, I powered forward on Chapter 5 waaay faster than expected! By the time I finish up tomorrow, I think I’ll be looking to have the writing done by early next week! :D

In fact, I’ve caught up so well after the doozy of a chapter that was Chapter 3, that I’ll be looking to go over my schedule next week to update my goals and bring them forward!

For those asking about the next demo, it’ll contain Chapters 3 and 4, and then there will be another demo release with chapter 5 and possibly 6, depending on where I hope to leave it.

Chapter 3 came back from the readers this week also, so I’ll be updating any bugs/errors they found, and chapter 4 is currently with the editor.

The new way I’m editing and bug/error checking chapters does take longer to do as we go along, but it catches so much more, especially with such complicated branches and bigger books now. Plus it’ll save a massive time doing it right on the end, as well as intensity for the testers!

Next week, after chapter 3 polish, I’ll be finishing up the writing on chapter 5 and getting on to editing that one already!

Chapter 3 really held me up (which was expected, as it was a complicated and big chapter to write and I kept adding to it, lol! :D), but it feels so good to be getting back into the flow and checking off goal boxes so regularly!

I gotta know, do you have a personal favorite RO ending for the love triangle route? Or are you honor bound as the author to like them both equally in their own way? 👀

Wayhaven was written as an interactive fiction specifically because I couldn't choose which one I liked best, lol! :D

When it was planned as just a novel, it stalled because I couldn't pick, and I don't like to go into a linear love triangle without knowing the outcome!

So when I found interactive fiction, I finally knew I could write Wayhaven because I could write both ends, hehe!

Though it worked out well, because all those many, many years I couldn't actually write Wayhaven was spent building the world, story, and characters, which has seriously paid off now! :D
