The Wayhaven Chronicles - Update 21.02.2025

Hello everyone, Nai here.

Mishka has had a pretty awful week I'm afraid, after loosing two of her wonderful pets within a couple of days of each other, so she's taking some time - she's taken it pretty hard.

But as always, she doesn't want to leave you with nothing - she has done the writing and edits on Chapter 7 and has moved onto writing Chapter 8 already! Hopefully she'll be feeling a bit better next week. Hope you all have a lovely weekend - talk to you next week!

The Wayhaven Chronicles—Update 14/Feb/2025

Another serious week of getting the writing done!

In fact, it was so good, I’m already on the endings of this chapter! There are three different variations depending on the branch the player has chosen in an earlier choice, but the fact I’m already on the endings is so motivating! Definitely ahead of schedule and starting to see some real push forward. Was so worth doing the mop-up stuff at the beginning of the year so as I could focus pretty much solely on the book!

Next week, I will be taking a day or two to catch up on asks for the next couple of months ahead though. Nai will be back so will be able to do those too and get them scheduled. Looking forward to reading what you guys thought of the demo, hehe! :D

But apart from that, I’ll be pushing ahead on writing again! And probably actually already getting to the editing of this chapter as it looks like I’ll be getting it finished either over the weekend or early next week! Woohoo!

The Wayhaven Chronicles — Update 07/Feb/2025 

Oh man, it was good to get back to just the writing this week! And it was flowing this week! I don’t know what it was, but I was IN THE ZONE, lol! :D

There was less branching at the beginning of this chapter which helped, but there was a variation at the start to account for a small friend scene that was just really nice. Like…just a wonderful moment of seeing where the team is with the MC outside of the romantic path or necessarily the BFF.

Though the romantic path is where my love lies, so I couldn’t stay away from that for long, hehe! :D  Especially ‘cause I got the opening completely finished so fast and just powered on into the next sections!

Also this week I managed to get the demo uploaded onto the new site, CoGDemos (https://cogdemos.ink/play/mishka-jenkins/the-wayhaven-chronicles-book-four-demo).

I’d been a bit worried about doing it as I’m not good with figuring out things like new websites, but it was super easy! Everything was laid out cleanly and user-friendly that meant it was a breeze to do, so that was a serious weight off my mind! Thank you so much to CoGDemos for providing a space for the demos (and making it all obvious enough to use that even I can manage it, hehe)!

Also, I know asks were a bit non-existent this week! Nai’s son has been really quite ill (hopefully getting better now!) which meant she hasn’t been able to send me over any asks. But when she’s back, asks should be being posted on the regular again then!

Next week is more of the same: slamming through the next chapter! A lot is revealed in this one about the MC’s growing powers, as well as the choices ahead they need to make about them…

Damn, I’ve only finished one route of the new chapters and WOW. This (Li-Sar) is actually fr fr intense. I didn’t think it could get this serious but we’re in a blood lightning dome now. Wtf 😭😭

(so good btw. AHHH can’t wait)

Hehehe! I wasn’t joking about the extreme of Li-Sar, lol!

They really want what they want, and they will do anything they have to to get it! Including a giant magic stormy dome :D

I really loved meeting the delta unit, will there be a game about them in the future where they will be the ROs?

I always have plans for all units and characters introduced and ideas for their own stories, lol!

The Wayhaven Chronicles— Update 31/Jan/202

It worked out well this week, as I hurt my wrist last week, so was struggling a bit with typing. But it actually meant I was forced to work on edits :D

I’ve put in all the edits the editor sent me for my previous chapter and worked on my edits for this chapter, ready to send it off to the editor!

Although it’s a slower process, I think it’s really working, as I only had a couple of very minor things pulled for the demo so far by people. Much cleaner game already, which means at the end it’ll take waaaay less time to test and edit!

While working on those, I’ve still been trying to get social media up together for the year ahead, and I’ve been gradually getting through scenarios and fun things to come!

I’m having particular fun with the Valentine’s Special scenarios for Patreon, which weren’t what I planned originally, but I’ve been smiling a ton while writing those! :D Those will be being posted throughout the whole of next month over on there.

But with the scenarios wrapping up, and the edits I have coming to an end, it means I’ll be able to just push ahead with the writing! Which is exactly the point I wanted to get to after this month.

I still have to take some time to transfer the demo over to a new place with Dashingdon closing. That’ll be a task for next week too! Obviously we’ll put up the link when that’s done.

The Wayhaven Chronicles—Update 10/Jan/2025

Just a quick one this week as I wasn’t going to be on social media but just wanted to check in with everyone!

So this week we spent planning out the year for social media things, and I also read through the whole of Book Four’s plan again to refresh myself with where I’m at and where I’m going :D

As I said, I want to finish Book Four this year even with it being more, but I know I can do it!

In order to do that though, I’m planning to get a lot of social media content done this month for the year ahead, meaning that’ll open up the rest of the year so I can almost solely focus on Book Four. I’m really hoping that getting as much of that completed as I can will help with just being able to slam ahead on the writing instead of stopping and starting.

So it’ll a bit of a different routine than past years, but hopefully will make a ton of difference! And I’ve already got some scenarios finished which I am loving, including one that fits nicely between Book Three and Four that I couldn’t stop thinking about over Christmas break, hehe! :D

The demo update will also be happening—looking at getting the early access on Patreon up the end of next week, with public access late the week after.

**b4 demo spoilers** will we get any explanation as to A's sudden shift in attitude at the beginning of b4? like them being super casual and stuff. i know you said you didn't wanna make it too heavy for /reasons/ but i was just wondering it A themselves has a reason for this switchup between end of b3/start of b4. hope ur having a nice day !!

It was the ending of Book Three when A realised they love the MC.

And they already knew they loved the MC, but now they really, really know it, and they told the MC as much…well, they sort of admitted they feel something, or that they can't deny there is something—but that's what they meant, lol!

And that admission is hard to cram back down inside of them for the moment. They'll get there…but for now they can't help let those feelings stay.

Plus, I really wanted a break for the A-mancers and give them some of the nice romance too for now, especially considering what's coming in Book Five…

When I'm not romancing Adam I like the hc as the detective older brother figure (even if he doesn’t know if he acts like it)

Adam: you are not good enough for the detective and I don't want to around them. END. OF. STORY.

Villain:...So why don't you give me one chance-

Adam: slams door in their face

The BFFs wlll definitely have something to say to the MC on the villain romances, that's for sure!

At this point, the BFFs feel deeply connected to the MC, and they worry about the MC and are the first to pick up on the stirring feelings that are happening (I actually have already written these tiny moments where you can see the BFF starting to catch onto it if you read closely in the next demo chapters to come, hehe!)

But A's reaction to the villain when the MC is romancing them might not be quite so calm as that...hehe! ;D

It's quite alarming how fast I go through all the wayhaven books, lol. Sometimes I wonder what I'll do with my life once this series is wrapped up. Do you ever consider your plans for after this series ends, such as a spinoff or a different universe altogether?

Oh wow, you should see the mountain of paper I have with ideas written all over them, hehe!

Wayhaven is a world I want to explore in SO many different stories and mediums! There's much, much more to come :D

Though it will all be romanced based and likely interactive, because I write what I would enjoy, and romance interactive games are my addiction, hehe!

But the main series is definitely my focus! There's plenty more to come that I am desperate to write for these vampires and the MC!

But yes, in Book Four, you will be able to romance the villain if you're not already romancing one of the vampires.

And boy...what a romance it'll be, lol! :D

The Wayhaven Chronicles—Update 20/Dec/2024

This week was a realisation of just how close Christmas break is, lol!

So then it was making sure to get everything checked off!

That was a bit more of a squeeze this year as the Winter scenario specials have all ended up waaaaay longer than I meant them to by thousands of words… :D

So that’s been nearly 20,000 words extra this month on top of making sure to hit my chapter 6 goals!

Though writing the scenarios and chapter six meant I got to write multiple Adam/Ava kisses this week: for the scenario and the main game. So it’s been a busy week for A ;D

I will be working this weekend and likely next week, but I will be starting my break from social media, etc, from tomorrow. In the same vein, we will be back on January 6th but won’t be back on social media, etc until 13th January.

That first week back will be used for planning out the year ahead and getting a head start on a lot of very fun stuff to come!

Hi! I wanted to ask a question you already answered but in reverse: will the villain be jealous of the LIs after finding out MC is already taken? 👀🤞 Also, such a nice touch to have the villain call MC the same exact word the LI called them back in... book 1 right? I played M's route first and immediately recognized it when the villain said MC was 'enticing'! I hope I'm not mistaken and actually caught that right... otherwise that'd be embarrassing for me to say that so confidently 😳

The villain definitely will not be happy at all when finding out the MC's interests lay elsewhere. But no worries, it's easy enough to remove the competition, right? ;D

I do love a throwback, and it seemed too perfect of a moment not to have it. The interest of the LI saying it compared to the shudder of revulsion when Li-Sar says it was too much fun :D

Hello, wonderful being(s) who operate this blog. Wayhaven has become a sort of home for me and I thank you so much for making and sharing it with all of us. It’s amazing to watch the world and fandom grow and following the process with you!? Incredibly generous and dedicated of you! It’s so clear that this is a labor of love and I hope that after all your hard work you are impressed or at the very least satisfied with the incredible amount of work you put into every aspect of this. It doesn’t go unnoticed.

Feel free to ignore this, but it’s a question I think about often while reading Wayhaven. We all know that N doesn’t like technology and believes (perhaps rightly so) that nowadays we rely on electronics too much. I happen to be legally blind and rely heavily on technology to get around that. Such as using my phone camera to zoom in on something I can’t see or read. Or having to need a voiceover to ‘read’ my books for me. N is my favorite and I wonder how they (and perhaps A, since they’re so old and seem to be rather wary of tech too) would feel about this aspect of technology or if the MC had to depend on such workarounds for their own limitations. I love how independent and capable the MC is and that there is no pressure or plans for the MC to become a vampire. But this particular ‘what if” comes to me often if I happen to be thinking of Wayhaven while I go about my day with my little tricks and such to do what I need to in order to see and get about.

So sorry for the long winded message. >.< Thank you so much again.

Aah, what a wonderful and kind message! Thank you so, so much! I'm so happy to hear Wayhaven is a home for you. I truly wanted it to be a space people can fall into and just lose themselves in.

As for your question, Nate/Nat probably would never have thought of the benefits of technology in this way. When they can fall back on magically-infused aids to help in things, that's where they would go to!

Adam/Ava is at least more open to uses of technology, but doesn't tend to use tech outside of what the Agency offers too.

N and N came from ages where tech just wasn't a thing, and even after all these centuries, they haven't come to rely on it yet, lol! :D
