They have two blackout floral tattoo sleeves. On their right arm, they have red and black roses, a negative space rose, and crimson carnations. On their left arm, they have black roses, a black iris, a black dahlia, and another red rose. She does also have a Facebones tattoo on her inner right thigh, but due to a combination of dysphoria and being a stone top, no one has seen that, aside from herself and the tattooist.

and we know what a facebones tattoo would look like lol. the floral tattoos are the most important though since they all mean something significant about their life.

he gets very very jealous really easily. he’s got a one-sided rivalry with Nathan just because of his “history” with Abigail, and they know it’s not founded in any reality, but he can’t really stop it.

her habit of selling insider gossip and Dethklok’s secrets to media outlets is a fucking awful one. like it started out of a place to earn a little extra money and infodump about music, but it’s spiraled and it’s a ~problem.~

they’d rather run away from their problems than actually confront them, regardless of if the problem could be solved easily or not. the worst of this wasn’t even when they deserted klokateer initiation, but no, it was the fallout from that—when they faked their death and left behind their family, including their mother who was suffering with dementia. oops.

I don't have too much on Devon. They do slip under the radar quite a bit which is pretty impressive since everyone in their family is so fascinating. Right now, they're not really on my list. Though I don't want to be too mean on their birthday. My birthday wish for them though? Use that mouthiness to make yourself more exciting, babe. Your family is already one of the more boring ones even in their excitement and that’s saying something. Don’t get swallowed down to that mold considering your roommate and his bestie are far more interesting than that.

I love Alggie, it’s so cute!! Let’s do some family reacts to Maggie and Al getting married/having the twins and Collin

Dominique&Lorcan:

Dominique kind of dropped out of the family life/gossip after she graduated from school, so she was surprised to find out Al had a baby

Even more that he got married??? Like Al? Really??

She’s happy for him and this new life he wants to start with Maggie and their children

But children?? As in more than one??? What is Al he ring into??

Lorcan on the other hand is one of James’ best friends, and has known all since he was born, so he was surprised but not really

If James could knock up a girl, then Al was more than capable

The fact that he beat James by six months is hilarious to him

For every first of James’, Al has to try and one up

Louis&Anamika:

Louis could care less about the family drama, he’s nineteen and expecting his first baby

Anamika loves the drama, her oldest niece was quite the scandal and it’s nice to know that the Weasley/Potters aren’t immune to gossip either

(She writes an anonymous piece for the Prophet, but it doesn’t get published)

She does ask Maggie for some advice and finds out her brother Hajari was her healer with Coll and the girls

Molly:

She’s a little shocked, she knew/was friends with Maggie

(She was a close friend to Artie’s while they were in school together)

She does jump on the chance to make baby clothes for them, and Collin is just so cute

She loves playing with him and being around the babies

Happy to not be the only ones to get pregnant their last year of school

Freddie doesn’t quite know what to say, he finds the situation both troubling and happy

He just remembers how Al was around girls while at school and it worries him

But then he sees Al comfort Collin and it goes away

LeeAnne is happy that Al finally grew up

She was worried about him and the trail of women he left behind

She rejected her family over their thoughts of her and her children, she didn’t want to see Al get pushed away for something stupider than that

She doesn’t know what to say about the whole ordeal

She doesn’t think that Al is ready for the responsibility, but is happy when he proves her wrong

She’s also just confused about the whole timeline of events

Rose&Scorpius:

He can’t keep secrets from Rose, and she doesn’t keep things from Scorpius

They’re so happy to finally meet Collin and the girls, Rose is just a few months away from having their first daughter Athena

They just adore Maggie, and Rose is smug about all of her suspicions in school being right

They do become Cecilia’s godparents so there is plenty of love shared between the four of them

Hugo&Lyla:

We know already that they adore Al and Maggie

Hugo is so happy for them, and Lyla definitely puts the effort into bringing her into the family

She’s not even fully considered family after dating Hugo for almost two years now, but she won’t allow for Maggie to feel that way

They offer babysitting services and Hugo has trouble giving Collin back to Al at the end of the night

Collin is the first person to call them Uncle ‘Go and Auntie Ly

James&Katie:

They’re a bit pissed that they have to find a new nanny for Jason

They really liked Maggie, but they also accept that they’re being a bit over dramatic

They grow to be happy for them, and they are Cassi’s godparents

Jason and Collin get really close and that never changes, even with age

Lily doesn’t quite know what to say, but she accepts being Ally’s godmother

Ryan is a bit confused, but doesn’t question anything

They make the effort to spend time with the girls, but they are also trying to live away from the family while they’re still in school

~Winds of the North: when Queen Anne Neville meets Lady Sansa~

The year was set in someday close to the winter of 1484. The queen was ill and she was more than aware of the whispers that circulated court by then. The thought of it could not slip out of her mind even if she wanted to: through the looking glass she watched her beautiful and joyful niece, Lady Elizabeth, brush over her auburn locks patiently.

Anne admittedly resented the youth that releted her body, giving space to a mortality she did not expect to feel so soon. Right before her there was someone who could replace her on the throne if rumours were taken to be true. She watched the precision with which the golden locks of Elyzabeth Plantagenet were tied accordingly the recent fashion which was imported from Bugundy (Anne was also aware how Italian States were responsible for this new way of braiding hair), a pair of esmerald earrings garnishing her pale skin, matching the necklace of same jewel in the younger woman’s neck. Elizabeth’s oval face reminded Anne of her father, Anne’s cousin and late king, Edward the fourth.She could tell there was no trace of illegitimacy in the princess’ features and the close resemblance was ever so present that turned difficult for her to look at the woman who was supposed to be queen and not her lady-in-waiting.

“Do you appreciate this, lady Elyzabeth?” Anne inquired, all of the suddenly. They were in the queen’s personal chambers and as the day was one very invitive to those who appreciated the outdoors, she dismissed the others who were meant to stay there, but only her niece refused it and gladly stayed by her side.

Elyzabeth rose those piece grey eyes that reminded Anne of storm seas, and the queen could not help wonder if there was ever one beneath the quiet personality of that young woman. In fact, considering all the recent events, Anne was rather surprised for seeing such resilience in the girl’s presence. She’s far stronger than I’d ever be.

“Pardon, Your Grace?” Oh, she did not understand.

With tiring eyes, Anne fixed the gaze upon the reflection of her niece on the mirror. Lady Elyzabeth’s clothing shared the same material the one on the queen’s body, they were even of the same colour. Blue.

“People talk.” She sighed and saw the alert behind her niece’s eyes. “I know it, Elyzabeth.”

“I vow it to your ladyship that I have...” Elyzabeth panicked... to the queen’s relief.

“I know.” But even though I did know, I had to be sure. “It’s difficult to be at the centre of a place where people whisper behind your back and long for your death. I lived a difficult life, I suppose the end should have not been any easier.”

“Your Grace!” Elyzabeth protested, but the protest would not last longer as a knock on the door interrupted the small thread between the noble ladies. 

Anne, with the dignity that left of her, dismissed her niece’s services with a wave of hand and rose. She looked at herself through the looking glass and saw the blue velvet gown falling over her curves, the silk touching her skin, even though it felt as if it touched her bones. She felt exposed, but she had to be strong.

Her auburn hair shone long, dropping loose behind her back. If only she could let it that way...! But Anne had her pride in her doings and so she tied it herself, following the new costumes. In the back of her mind, the flashback of her youth reminding her of her strenght: even now, she could hear Queen Marguerite’s snorts due to her fear of the sea. The teachings of the French red rose could not be swept away even now.

“See the wheel of fortune, madame Anne?” Marguerite d’Anjou spoke in the queen’s memories. “One day it might take you so high there’ll be no time to enjoy the view for in the next moment, it will take you just as low.”

Even now, Anne Neville remembered Marguerite d’Anjou’s smirk.

“What’s with that face, lass? There is no time to mourn for the past. You are your father’s daughter. Act like it. In this world we live in, dominated by men who know nothing but power and will not rest easy until they have it for themselves, there is no space for naivety or sweetness. You be that and the wolves will eat you.”

“Please come inside.” Anne recovered her voice. It was Cecily Plantagenet, lady Elyzabeth’s sister. The Queen smiled to the younger woman, so vivid like her father and beautiful like her mother. The Plantagenet temper is very evident in this one. “Greetings well beloved, I trust you are well?”

Cecily had the same shades of blonde hair that her sister did, but her face was softened and her eyes, blue also, was so full of life. She was a natural charmer and, like their father, this one was fond of talking, gossip and flirting. Nonetheless, she respected the king and the queen’s authority and Queen Anne appreciated that.

“You do, Your Grace, thank you.” She curtsied. “I bring you delightful news from His Grace, the king. We ought to receive an important guest at your court! It appears that an old ally of your lord husband named Petyr Baelish is scorting a northern lady of a noble house of Westeros. Her name is Sansa Stark, and she is coming to stay.”

Queen Anne blinked, but suddenly these news were giving a new blow of life. Lady Cecily slowed down, once excitement gave space to be reasonable in speaking.

“Westeros is in Civil War, Your Grace. Although the Queen Regent is in friendly terms with your sire husband, the king, there lies suspicious of her intentions towards our house. The Starks, however, were once aided by King Richard, as I was once told, so their king in the north, Robb Stark, is sending his sister over here until the situation is resolved. It seems that a man to them known, this who is named Petyr Baelish, is the responsible for taking the poor lady out of that court of wolves.”

The familiarity was too much for the Queen to bear. Exile, civil war... wounds the time did not seem to heal. They bleeded continuously and the Queen feared for herself. How long before this ends? How long before I can leave all of this suffering behind?

She remembered the tensions, the fear in her mother’s eyes, the bravery in Isabel’s... The fierce in her father, once the glorious kingmaker became the traitor. These days, however, few would remember him even if his daughter was on the throne. However, there was no point in dwelling over the past, even her former mother by law, the red queen, would say so. Therefore she glanced upon Cecily and smiled a convincing smile. 

For lately, I scarely found a reason to live anymore.

“Of course”. The Queen nodded her head. “When will she arrive?”

“She has already sailed in Devon”, lady Cecily gladly informed. “So she is expected to arrive in a day or two.”

The Queen could behold in the back of her mind the shadow of anxiety in Richard’s features. A man as himself is not one prompted to festivities, the display of vanity; on that aspect, he was much more comfortable amongst the men on battle. Anne, on the other hand, was the perfect hostess. She was a survivor herself, and lived in three different courts, dancing accordingly each song. She knew well what her husband would tell her this late evening and a smile graced her lips. 

This part he knows I’ll play perfectly well. 

This somehow brought new sense of duty to the queen, who instantly was seen as if live was instantly gained. When the king came to visit her that afternoon, he was surprised to see how... alive she looked to be.

“I do not expect you to settle easily at the thought of me dead.” Her voice is sweet, but her words were not. Richard looked hurt. At least he bears some sense in appearing so.

“To arm yourself by sharpening your tongue is unlike yourself.” And wasn’t he perceptive enough? “I pray you tell me you have not been giving ears to those poisonous beings who do nothing but to whisper ill of ourselves?”

He looks displeased and I, ashamed. 

“My dearest loving wife”, he took Anne’s face by his hands and for a moment that is what they were: man and wife, with no titles to weigh upon their shoulders. “After all I’ve been through at your side, may this not be broken by people’s foolishness.”

And so she wept. Richard sighed, but unlike any other husband in his position, would not tear her away from him.

“I’m sorry. This is all too much to bear.” He relented. “Nonetheless, do not push me away. You are too kind to this world”.

Anne blinked away the memories of the past, but she could still hear the red queen’s voice.

“What happens now?” She inquired, and felt stupid by opening her mouth when she met the red queen’s fierce gaze. Marguerite d’Anjou was beautiful, but cold and, some might say, evil. Her red locks were braided and there was no sympathy upon her face. Those blue eyes more looked like the warning of storm, than welcoming sea. 

“War is not for sweet creatures as yourself”, it was the retort she heard. “You either endure and learn or fall to be misguided.”

“I would not like that, Your Grace”. Even then, her voice sounded cheap and...stupid...for her ears. But she was frightened, and the queen saw it. 

“Do you think I would? I lost a husband who loved me, who cherished me the world.” She said bitterly. “My only sin was to be born a french and his, to be uncapable of rulling with a strong will. One day, you will have to do that for yourself at my sons’s side. Otherwise, they will break you and a victim you shall be.”

“There is no space for love in wars”, she comprehended then. 

The queen’s cold laughter was a sound difficult to hear. A loved woman, brokenhearted by life... the wheel of fortune was cruel.

“There could always be”, the red queen pondered, casting a meaningless glance to her new daughter by law, “if you know how to play the game, if you know how to survive.”

As Queen Anne embraced her king, she was ever certain and reassured that, whatever were the thoughts regarding Richard’s actions as the new Yorkist monarch of England, she survived. A survivor she was and would ever be one. 

There /is/ space for love in the midst of wars after all, she contemplated. I won the game of thrones. I’m standing here and Richard holds my love and support as I hold his. 

It was all the matter to remember Anne Neville that she was still alive.

The redhaired younger woman with porcelain skin and blue eyes finally arrived at this new court, prompted to receive her into their arms. For a long while, throughout this journey, Sansa became Alayne, but now she was safe enough to become herself again.

She was careful, of course. She learned enough from Petyr ever the days spent in the Vale. At times, Sansa would even miss it. But enough was enough and there were little space other than to think of her survival. Nonetheless... she remembered. The sparks of civil war that led to Joffrey’s death, a failed attemptive on the part of prince Oberyn to avenge the murder of his sister, than there was her brother hoping to save her but dying in the midst of the red wedding.... Such were the events that gave her little peace, if not none, in her sleep.

For a moment, she was distracted as her carriage finally arrives in London. The capital of this new, different kingdom under whose ruler she was expected to be protected. She was not entirely certain about that, a bad feeling daunting her, but Sansa knew better than that.She rose her head high and it was finally time to behave like the lady her mother raised to be.

So there was Sansa Stark, dressed in white-and-green silk with long sleeves according the Westerosi fashion. Her long red locks were braided perfectly and suddenly, as the court welcomed her, the northern lady felt the eyes over her. There was little space to think or far less to capture the details of this new land which it was expected to be her temporary home for the queen, richly dressed in white and purple, came to greet her personally.

“Welcome to St James Palace, Lady Sansa. I’m Queen Anne. My husband, King Richard, awaits indoors.”

Sansa found herself shy at first, but gladly took the companionship of Queen Anne of England. For a moment, it was as if she was regained contact with her former self, the dreamer and silly one whose mind was filled with hopes of marrying for love and being acquainted with knights and bards.

As for the queen of England, she saw in Sansa the young girl whom she used to be, merry of soul and full of dreams of a happy and stable life. The two took immediately liking for each other and King Richard’s court proved a delight to Sansa. 

“Do you dance, Your Grace?” lady Sansa inquired after they all feasted and chatted as if there were no threats of rebellions outside, there were no quarellings to dwell upon. It was a merry scenario, one of the kind that pleased King Richard very much when seeing the best effect it had not only to his wife but also to this protegée of his.

“I used to, but...” Queen Anne hesitated. For the last days, she felt alive again and even more so now that Lady Stark was there at court, but could she risk her health? She quickly glanced at her husband, which did not go unnoticed by Sansa, who feared to have disapproved them both but one nod of Richard and Anne promptly accepted the girl’s invitation.

It all went well for these akin souls. Anne revived and Sansa found comfort again. This blissful scenario occurred for days, weeks, before they turned to months. Sansa reminded Anne of the innocence left behind and the queen taught her protegée how shield herself and sharp her mind before the cruelties of the world.

“You will see there is space for love in the midst of war”, said Anne. “But you must be prepared to fight for it and defend it with all that you have.”

Sansa pondered her words. “Is it possible?”

“Aye. I married the king, haven’t I?” She smiled and the redheaded northern girl aquiesced.

Even when the winter came, Sansa was provided for. She would miss Anne terribly, as were the Queen to miss her company. But in the end, Anne had peace even if at the cust of her life. She filled with her mission and such was the great lesson that Sansa Stark finally learned...

hugo weasley grows up in the shadow of the golden trio. another way of looking at it is that he grows up illuminated in the light they give off. hugo isn’t always sure of which is true. he’s not even sure if he has a preference. from the age of twelve, he knows he’s going to be minister for magic one day. ( his best friend, cepheus malfoy, — the younger of draco malfoy’s two children, and the dangerous one — knows from the first week of sharing a dorm together, and his sister rose expects something like it from hugo ever since he’s eight and a half and negotiating rules with their parents. )

he follows his cousin albus potter into slytherin, to pretty much nobody’s surprise — well, except, perhaps, for those who do not know him, but hugo doesn’t particularly care about their opinions anyway. one day, he will, because such is the nature of politics, but not at age eleven, when he is carving a place for himself in a world which defines him by the deeds of his parents. at eleven, he thinks of who he is, and who he could be. it’s a lot to bear on the shoulders of one so young, but hugo is not atlas, and he is unafraid of the weight.

hugo is sharp, perceptive and pragmatic — his cousin lucy teases him for wearing monogrammed cufflinks ( ‘it’s pretentious,’ she says. ‘it’s pragmatic,’ he corrects — they speak of status, of prestige, of respectability, of success. he is young for his position, and these are the sorts of things that people absorb when they try to take his measure, even if they don’t realise it. ) and roxanne calls his pragmatism soulless with a teasing laugh, but hugo weasley has always known what it takes to succeed, and he meets these with a smirk or patient rebuttal. he loves his family, truly — he knows the papers, particularly gossip rags like accio!, try to present them as a family in ruin, torn asunder by their differing houses and personalities and loyalties, but they’re wrong. they bicker, of course, and hugo isn’t entirely sure whether he even likes all of them sometimes, but he loves them. they’re his family. he’s much more like his mother than his father — and rose, with her quick quips and easy charisma, has always taken more after their father — but he respects his father’s ability to defuse a room as much as he respects his ability to strategise, and he respects both of those traits more than any other. that’s not to say he won’t intentionally invite over friends with the specific goal of winding up his father, though — ron weasley has always been excellent at turning a range of shades of puce, and mia urquhart has always especially delighted in provoking him to that stage.

upon graduation, hugo and cepheus join the ministry — cepheus in the department of magical law enforcement, following fred weasley, and hugo in the department of international magical cooperation. cepheus sticks around for a few years, bouncing around various areas of the department, with a particular focus on the wizengamot, before officially leaving the ministry to work in his cousin alexandria’s employ for her campaign teams ( he spent most of his time employed at the ministry moonlighting for her anyway, and using his position in the ministry to the advantage of alexandria greengrass’ work ), but hugo stays. he works with the international magical office of law and with the british representatives of the international confederation of wizards primarily, then ends up as assistant to the minister, where he intends to stay for a few years, to see how the work is done. following that, he intends to become head of the department of the international magical cooperation and then finally make his bid for minister of magic — the youngest minister the wizarding world will have ever seen, as well as being their first openly gay minister of colour. these are all aspects of himself which are used against him in his campaign — his youth, his sexuality, his blood status, and his race, even if only the first is ever explicitly mentioned — but he refuses to tamp down or minimise any of them. perhaps his mother’s justice-driven brand of idealism ( pragmatic as she may be, she still holds stubbornly to what should be right, even when nobody has her back — much like her niece lucy ) runs strong in him, or maybe lucy’s thoughts about the truth have rubbed off on him more than expected, but hugo weasley will not let anyone else tell him what makes him worthy or not, especially bigots. he will win: just watch.

hugo was sorted into slytherin alongside cepheus malfoy, who quickly became his best friend, and mia urquhart, who became another of his best friends. cepheus’ cousin jessamine nott was sorted into hufflepuff in their year — the first nott or greengrass to be sorted into hufflepuff ever. hugo’s never been especially sympathetic towards others, but he was deeply aware how it could be to walk into a new house where nobody expected you to go — he at least had albus with him. jessamine didn’t have anybody. it didn’t take much, but he mentioned it to his two hufflepuff cousins: dominique weasley, the head girl and absolutely most chill member of their family, and molly weasley, who was absolutely never going to be a prefect, but could always be counted on for a fun time and a megawatt smile. the two of them took jessamine under their wing, and between them, cepheus and mia — who adopted jessamine into her own girl gang, along with madelaine avery ( who’d ended up in ravenclaw, and had been mia’s friend forever, and mia had always protected ) and eventually vienna montague, who dormed with hugo’s cousin lily potter in gryffindor — he counted jessamine amongst his friends. he spent most of his time with cepheus and mia, but increasing amounts with lily, jessamine, maddy and vienna as well, and occasionally the wood twins, primarily because of jessamine and lily. hugo’s friend group is by far the most terrifying of all of the weasley-potters’ friends — whilst there have always been some irrepressible and terrifying friends amongst their various squads, nobody quite beats the terror trio that is hugo weasley, cepheus malfoy and mia urquhart.

it’s no wonder, then, that when hugo runs for minister, he uses alexandria greengrass’ team to run his campaign. they’ve been working on it behind the scenes for years, particularly because cepheus, mia and vienna all work for alexandria, but when it comes time to make it official, he would never consider anyone else. the question of romance comes up during the campaign, of course, both the official one and the shadow ones they run for him over the years — his sexuality is one thing he does not hide, but they have to ask whether they need to cover up any affairs of the heart. truthfully, hugo’s not really sure. he and cepheus have spent their adult lives making important people fall in love with them, wrapping them around their fingers with a cool smirk or perceptive remark. many people, hugo finds, are attracted to power — and then those who aren’t are attracted to the idea of being seen. hugo deals in both. sometimes he wonders if, maybe, while he and cepheus spent their time making people fall in love with them, they might have fallen in love with each other too — but that’s a dangerous line of thought to follow, and so he doesn’t. he thinks if anyone knows what he’s been musing on, it’s mia, but she hasn’t said anything. still, he’s considered asking for her thoughts — she’s uncannily perceptive and blunt as all hell, and, most importantly, fiercely loyal. for now, it’s easier to amuse himself by wrapping dominic creevey around his finger and wondering, absent-mindedly, about nico zabini and the wood twins, rory and nicholas ( though he knows that jessamine would have his head if he ever broke their hearts — hufflepuff or not, hugo knows better than to underestimate her ).

Baz swings into their dorm the day before school starts, with the usual amount of sneer and swagger. He knows the drill. It’s the same, every time. Hasn’t changed. Snow will be thin, ragged at the edges. His shoulders will be caved inwards slightly, and he’ll be wearing the pressed shirts that seem to fit so awkwardly upon his shoulders. His political books will be sprawled across the desk, and he’ll be grumbling about having to deal with the ex-headmistresses’ son yet again. Baz will mock Snow for his pathetic attempts to follow in the footsteps of his adoptive father; will laugh as he calls up images of Snow bent over his desk, receiving one failed assignment after another, and try not to think about the alternative – naked, moonlit chest, golden curls, ordinary blue eyes. The reality however, is far different. Baz sweeps over to his bed, eyeing Snow’s messier side. He’s already here, he thought. (Good.) “Well hello, Snow,” he sneers. “It’s so disappointing to see you again.” There’s a clatter from the bathroom, and then Snow is suddenly leaning against the door, and – holy fuck. Baz suddenly finds himself unable to articulate thought, let alone speak. His brain has imploded. Across the room, Snow raises an eyebrow. “Problem, Baz?” He asks, moving towards his bed. The sunlight catches upon the silver ring now pierced into his nose, slides past his eyes which are now curved upwards slightly with perfect eyeliner. His eyes are bluer than Baz ever thought possible. He’s wearing a patched blue denim jacket, with a large rainbow embroidered into the shoulder. As he collapses onto his bed, Baz catches roses winding across his shoulder blades. He’s wearing impossibly tight black jeans, feet shoved into a pair of scuffed docs. If Baz weren’t made of marble, he might whimper. As it is, he schools his face into a sneer. “Well Snow, I am impressed. Has it finally caught up to you that you’re not Watford’s Chosen One?” Snow shrugs. “Pretty much.” His eyes are alight with poorly-concealed laughter, as if he somehow knows more than Baz. Baz finds he hates the feeling. “Really, Snow. And how will your beloved father take this news?” At this, Simon’s expression darkens. “His opinion isn’t relevant.” Baz laughs. “Well this is news.” He pauses for a moment, before a thought occurs to him. “I’m looking forward to Mr. Hardwood’s reaction when it comes to your speech to the faculty.” Simon shifts up onto his elbows, running a hand through his curls. “Me too.” He shrugs. “Pity I won’t be doing it this year then, isn’t it?” Baz is thoroughly confused now. “What on earth are you talking about, Snow?” “I switched majors. It’s astrophysics now.” Baz snorts. “Bullshit. You do know you need to pass the entry levels, right?” Simon smirks. “Oh, but Bazzy. I did. Passed with flying colours, in fact.” Baz will never tell anyone in a million years that Snow calling him Bazzy, sprawled out on his bed like that, is a major turn on.

The entire school is as astounded by Snow as Baz when the semester begins in full. Much to Baz’s irritation, it only serves to enhance Snow’s godlike reputation, and the number of idiotic girls pestering him for Snow’s number becomes ridiculous. As if he has Snow’s number. (You wish). Amazingly, Snow’s golden girlfriend is unfazed by this sudden transition. “It’s not fair Baz,” Dev whines one lunchtime, as they’re studying outside. He’s staring across the courtyard to where Snow is sitting with Bunce and Agatha. The trio are studying in the sunlight, laughing. “I spent so much money last year on fancy shirts. Agatha said she’d never look at a guy twice if he wasn’t dressed posh – and now Snow’s turned into some sort of punk, and she doesn’t even lose an eyelash?” Baz lifts his head to stare across at Snow, sprawled out across the grass. He’s feeling especially pathetic today, and his chest aches with longing. As he watches, Agatha leans in towards Snow, resting her head upon his shoulder. Beside him, Dev sighs. Baz shakes his head. “You can do much better, Devon.” Dev just grunts. “She is the better, Baz.”  

It’s dusk when Simon strides into their room, smiling. Baz is reading on his bed, and he reflects that he has never seen Snow so happy and carefree. Today, the boy is wearing yet another pair of sinfully tight jeans, and a bright yellow t-shirt, the denim jacket slung over one shoulder. He watches silently as Simon dumps his bag of books on his bed, and breezes into the bathroom. The moment the shower starts up, Baz has slipped across the room, to perch upon Snow’s bed. It smells like cinnamon and apples here, and Baz allows himself a moment to simply breathe, because yes, he really is that weak. He imagines curling between these sheets, arms wrapped around a searing golden torso. Snow would be so warm, and his tawny curls would brush against Baz’s chin… There’s a crash from the bathroom, and Baz draws himself to his goal. He’s been curiously frustrated, ever since Simon told him he’d switched majors. How was it even possible? Baz rifles through Snow’s bag, tugging out a battered exercise book. It’s filled with problems, equations, and complicated summaries that Baz struggles to make sense of. Amazingly, it is all in Snow’s atrocious handwriting, and what’s more, almost every problem has a sharp red tick, underscored by a large 98%. The shower cuts off, and Baz hurriedly returns to his bed. How in Merlin’s name had Snow become so…so smart? Simon strolls out of the bathroom, dressed only in a pair of low slung track pants, towel looped around his neck. Water droplets are slowly sliding down his jaw, dripping onto his chest. Merlin and Morgana, Baz thinks. His mouth has turned uncomfortably dry. Simon stumbles towards his desk, snatching up the long sleeved top resting there, and tugs it on. He begins pulling out books, tucking a pencil between his teeth. The sight makes Baz’s stomach curl with desire, and the sensation is enough to open his idiotic mouth. “I’m surprised, Snow. What kind of boyfriend are you, if you spend your Friday nights in your room?” Once upon a time, this would have made Simon crackle and growl. He would have stuttered, and slapped Baz with a pathetic retort. Now however, he just twists in his chair to stare at Baz in confusion. “What are you talking about?” Baz rolls his eyes. “Who do you think, Snow?” At Simon’s blank look, Baz snarls. “Crowley Snow, how stupid can you get? Your golden girlfriend – Agatha.” Simon stares at him for a moment, mouth opening and closing. Then incredibly, he’s laughing, a faint blush dusting his cheeks. “Agatha and I – we haven’t been dating since last year, Baz. We’re just friends.” Baz frowns, but Snow is already turning back to his work, still chuckling. Baz is thoroughly confused by this punk Simon.

Inevitably however, the past begins to catch up with Simon Snow. Baz is tucked underneath a tree one lunchtime, when a voice cracks through the crowded courtyard. “Mr. Snow!” It’s Watford’s glittering reformer of a headmaster, Davy Mage – Snow’s prized father. He’s stomping across the length of the courtyard, face severe. The student body stiffens, and collapses into silence. The air is stiff, and the early afternoon sun seems to be stretched ragged across the earth. “Simon!” Snow strides into view. He looks particularly threatening today; his clothes are spun midnight, his eyeliner knife sharp. He throws his father a glance over his shoulder, and Baz watches closely. There’s pure hatred there, and something else – something deep and impenetrable. Baz has never seen Snow grace his father with such a look; usually there is only adoration and incessant pleading, begging for love. Baz has always found it pathetic, and ignorant – the ease with which Snow ignored the atrocities of his father always astounded him. “Salisbury!” The Mage snarls, and Simon suddenly stumbles to a halt, several metres away from Baz. His clenched fists are shaking, and – there’s a tear, slipping down his cheek. The name Salisbury seems familiar to Baz somehow, though he can’t remember why. Davy has caught up to Snow now, and his expression is triumphant. “What do you think you’re doing?” Simon shifts slightly. “You know very bloody well what I’m doing, sir. How” – he pauses for a moment to glance around – “how dare you say that name here. You have no right, you bastard!” Davy smirks. “I have every right, son. Now be a good boy, and come along with me to my office, like I asked.” “I’ll do no such thing.” Simon snarls. “What can you do to me? One wrong move, and I’ll tell them everything.” The Mage’s face crumples with fear. “Y-you promised –” “Only if you kept your end.” Snow takes a step back. “Goodbye, asshole.” These last words are projected loud enough for the collected body to hear. The silence is concrete now, thick and oppressive. “Mr. Snow!” Simon is striding away now; at his father’s shaky cry, he throws him the finger over his shoulder. All at once, the wave breaks, and the courtyard is filled with awed gossiping. Baz watches as Watford’s golden boy slopes off into the distance, shoulders stiff.

When Baz slips tiredly into their room that evening, Snow is propped up on his bed, painting his nails buttercup yellow. His face is tightened and thinning; in the dim light, it looks as though it is wavering at the edges. Simon’s hair is pushed haphazardly back from his forehead, and as he tilts his head to examine one perfectly polished hand, his nose ring winks at Baz. The entire spectacle is too much, and Baz finds he has to sit down hurriedly on his bed. Snow is unfairly attractive at the best of times, but tonight he is far too fucking appealing. Baz wants to slope across the room, and shove Simon backwards into the sheets. He wants to lick a path up his neck, following the line of moles. He wants Simon to writhe beneath him, moaning. He wants to slide a hand up Snow’s thigh, and know that his touch is power. He wants to press kisses around that infernal nose ring, make Simon blush prettily and smile up at him with love. Baz wants a lot of things, but he knows better than to hope for them.

Simon glances up suddenly, and for a moment the two boys find themselves trapped in a staring contest. Baz shivers, and breaks contact. “Take a picture, Snow. It’ll last longer.” Simon doesn’t snap and growl like the old Simon would have. Instead, he simply smiles. “Hey, Baz.” His voice is sly. “What?” Baz makes sure to sneer more than usual. “Can you come over here?” “So you can give me a black eye? No thanks.” “Please, Baz. I want to paint your nails!” Baz struggles to keep his face still. “Don’t be ridiculous, Snow. I’m not that tacky.” “Please, Bazzy? The name is like kryptonite, and Baz finds himself shuffling across the room to perch gingerly on the edge of Simon’s bed. “I’d prefer it if you refrained from calling me that,” he sniffs. (Liar). “What, Bazzy?” Baz feels his stomach flare with desire. Why is he so pathetically turned on by this? Simon grins evilly. “Baz, Baz, Bazzy, Bazzy, Baz.” “Just fucking get on with it, and paint my bloody nails Snow.” Baz doesn’t know how much more he can take of this. Since when did Snow become so open, and devious? Since when were they so friendly with one another? Simon is rifling through a large bag, and when he turns back to Baz, his eyes are wide. “Oh my god Baz, can I pretty please do your whole face?” His eyes are wide with excitement. Baz jerks backwards in alarm. “What in Merlin’s – no, Snow.” Simon beams. “I’m going to pretend you didn’t say that.”

It could be several hours later, or several days, for all Baz knows, when Simon finally leans back with wide eyes. “Y-you’re done, Baz.” His voice is soft, and Baz is uncomfortably aware of how close they are. He stands hurriedly, and stumbles over to the mirror between their wardrobes. He isn’t prepared for the sight. His eyes are flicked upwards in the perfect cat’s-eye, and his lashes have been subtly lengthened with mascara. His eyelids are shaded and smudged; his eyebrows have never looked so perfect. Glancing down at his nails, Baz admires the deep, oxblood shade that glows against his pale skin. His lips are lined and painted a red that makes him seem sultry and seductive. Holy fuck. Baz turns slowly back to face Simon. “I’m impressed, Snow.” Simon is staring at him in shock. “T-thanks, Baz.” Baz approaches the bed again, resumes his cross-legged spot at the end, and levels Simon with a glare. “Why are you doing this? I find it hard to believe there isn’t some ulterior motive.” Simon bites his lip, and fixes his gaze on his lap, fiddling with a tube of eyeliner. “I-I suppose I should explain.” Baz remains silent, waiting. When Simon speaks again, his voice is shaky. “I want to start over, Baz. I’m tired of being enemies. The holidays were…enlightening for me, to say the least. I discovered that my father really wasn’t the person I always thought he was; I saw how idiotically blind I’d been. I’ve never hated myself more, than when I realised how I’d agreed with him, when he hurt your family. I-I’m so sorry, Baz, for the way I’ve treated you. It, it was inexcusable, and I would do anything I can to make it better.” Simon breaks off hurriedly, bowing his head. Baz was expecting, at the very least, some half-assed plan that made little sense. His heart is racing. Never, not once in a million years, had he expected Simon Snow to show such humility. “Well, Snow. That was certainly very…enlightening.” Simon flinches. Baz knows he is waiting to be verbally lacerated. “And I agree. I think it’s time we put the past behind us.” Simon’s head snaps up, eyes bright. “Baz,” he breathes. “I’m sorry too, Snow.” Simon’s face breaks into an impossibly soft smile. “Please. Call me Simon.”

Baz lays in bed that night, long after Simon has gone to sleep, and remembers the way the boy’s hands had drifted across his skin. He’s never had a boy touch his lips before, never had someone caress his face like that – even if it was under the pretence of applying makeup. Baz rolls onto his side, and allows his eyes to drift across the moonlit wonder that is Simon Snow; chest glowing, arms curled high up on the pillowcase amongst the tangled curls. He lifts a hand to his face, remembers the way Simon had traced his jaw with a hand, brushed against his cheekbone. He circles his lips with a finger, and remembers the way Simon had dabbed at them lightly with his coarse fingers. It is midnight, and Tyrannus Basilton Grimm-Pitch the Third has never been more hopelessly in love with his roommate.
