I mean. Ahahah. I need to confess I cannot imagine a shrimp mermaid without laughing. For me it’s like putting clown makeup on a character. You can have someone being a crab or a shrimp but I will not take them seriously even for a second

#I had an aquarium at one point #I had shrimps in there #I know how their movement works and #oh man hahah #I would not be able to talk about a shrimp mermaid with straight face #with fish mermaids we somewhat have this middle ground #where we know that a human with mono fin can in fact swim #like. the concept works #same with sea mammals #if we take a human and give them one tail + arms #they will be able to move in the same way sea mammals move #justin a more awkward way #the skeletal structure allows this so in my head it looks kinda sorta somewhat natural #but shrimp?#and crab?#yeah no sorry #I can’t see the vision it just looks incredibly goofy to me
