Man dnd honor among thieves is so good I remember watching that just waiting for Edgin and Holga to have their obligatory forced kiss/romance that they would’ve gotten in any other movie and when the movie didn’t go there I was like. Damn. Damn ok 11/10 movie actually. And then the movie went even farther and had Edgin save Holga instead of bringing back his wife because HOLGA’s his daughter’s mom and I. I don’t cry easily but I did tear up. This movie said fuck amatonormativity
RIGHT. RIGHT!!!! THE JOY. THE RELIEF. THE OVERWHELMING GENERAL CRUSH OF FEELINGS I EXPERIENCED. what a movie that was just so completely unashamed to be exactly what it was. sincerity in all ways - in genre and in feeling and just. all over. what a charming film that was so special to me. the ending was just. perfect. because he used it for his baby girl’s mom and that was so. AUGH. and holga being like YOU WASTED IT ON ME? WHY DID YOU DO THAT? tropes of all time. chewing glass, climbing the walls, etc.

rewatching S6 in bits and pieces for current fic and ahhhhhhhhhh but the whole Jack, Diana, Mosley and Lizzie final dinner is so *viscerally* fucking satisfying on every sensory and intellectual and emotional level of consumption.
#every single movement facial expression breath flick of an eye the choice of 'mosley' not 'mr mosley'#the way mosley says 'lizzie' for the first time#jack's buildup and his mad fucking innuendo just before diana and oswald show#particularly how every drink is taken and by whom and when#lizzie constantly holding herself back the entire time from Saying Something all these flinches and half-breaths#insane#INSANE#as much as the end of S3 is roaringly wrenchingly furiously emotionally good#this dinner is something else#this whole episode is pretty much something else though fffffffffffff#jack's patronising constant reference to tommy as if he's a much younger man/boy when you look at these two guys and jack looks younger??#by design i am sure#in the scene with the tie before the dinner.the way tommy's face says one thing while facing away from lizzie#then he puts on that mask as he turns to face her and you can SEE HIM DO THAT jesus#it would a writing exercise and a half to actually try to capture that scene in writing and work out what needs to be said/described#to carry the same effect because @coffeeatnight23 -> this scene is totally Tommy ripping his own heart out then eating it with relish :)#it *is* the saddest thing but also a fucking *reclamation* of something that tommy hasn't had since his suicide attempt. there's lots of#small reclamations of self that happen in post-Ruby S6 i seem to recall. despite flicks old trauma/foggy memory wandering also this-#-sort of structural shift/acceptance he is who he is and that is how he has agency (not solely money?)#anyway it's not triumph but there is *something* that i haven't found the word for yet#acceptance is one word but there's something more vicarious and dark in it that acceptance doesn't connote

having thoughts about what makes an interesting idol rhythm game
#i can expand upon it but i think its mostly like. what's the gimmick it's using and how is it executing it#like enstars you have the 3d mvs that you can put whoever you want in and have different outfits to put them in#d4dj you have the dj booth layout that you play with and it utilizes it very well#hypmic is a rap based game entirely and also utilizes record scratching imagery in its gameplay#and then proseka and bandori. proseka's gimmick is very obviously like vocaloids#but in the game play its trying to be too many things and failing at all of them#they have some 3d mvs but the layout of the beat maps makes them like#not really. something i notice when i played it. bc the way they have the map layout set up it kinda grays out the video#which means you might as well not have it on. for enstars the lanes are entirely transparent#so you can see the mv clearly as you play if you have 3d mv on u know#and then like. idk the proseka gameplay just feels brutal.#mostly because it times when you lift off the hold notes and literally no other game does this#even games that use goods as combo breakers like hypmic dont fucking do that#also i do appreciate the flick notes in hypmic being just. flick whereever feels natural#helps a lot while playing to just flick whichever way you want#but anyway yeah i think proseka is relying too much on the vocaloid schtick and people just ignore the atrocious game play#like d4dj does straight lane better. hypmic and enstars are both ring lanes that do their gimmicks well#i do not like proseka can u tell#i didnt play enough bandori to really tell u whats going on there but i did not like the layout for their game#and its made by the same people who make proseka so like. no hope for me getting into it#anyway#shay speaks
