Roman ran into the living room when he heard Patton screech. “It’s what?!”

“What is?” Roman demanded.

Patton shushed him, gesturing emphatically at the tv screen.

“As according to even the lowest reports,” the lady was saying . “95% of the vampires have been rounded up now. There will still be people available to take your calls if you suspect you’ve seen a vampire, and we highly encourage you to keep turning them in. We will still be here to serve you, just in a less invasive manner.”

“What’s going on?” Roman whispered.

“She said the sweep is over.” Patton whispered back, his eyes fixed on the screen.

“It’s what?!”

“Shh!”

In the next weeks, we’ll be working on transitioning the vampires into controlled work environments. They will be in public, but carefully controlled. There is no reason for fear if you should see them. However, we would ask that you refrain from bothering the handlers, as that increases the risk, however slightly.

“They’re what?!” Dee said, turning the radio up.

“Yes, we can confirm that the sweep is over. The vampires of course will still be arrested if they are discovered, but there will be no more searching of homes without warrants.”

“Well, that’s good.” The other person on the radio program said. “As much as I’m glad to have the vampires gone, it’s very disconcerting to have people storming into your house.”

“Yes, that is a large part of why the sweep has officially ended. Individuals will have to take more responsibility to hand in the remaining hidden vampires, but this way we can have back our freedoms and privacy.”

Dee looked over at Thomas, who was just as wide-eyed. “Can we…?”

“Not home, they know us there. But we can make a new home.”

Dee was just as fine with a new home as with the old one. He nodded enthusiastically.

Liam searched the house. According to reports from the neighbors, Logan had been seen here, but no sign of Patton, and there were only three people staying in the house.

So Patton and the vampire that held him under thrall were somewhere else, but that didn’t mean that there weren’t clues. However, everything he saw was merely personal items. And they didn’t seem to match the supposed inhabitants. Perhaps they’d managed to kick out the original inhabitants. Some vampires did seem to have hypnotic powers.

He kept searching, letting out a slight growl under his breath in frustration, and ignoring the looks his men were giving each other.

Virgil hadn’t had a phone in ages. He had… not really friends, just some nice people online he used to talk to sometimes, and he wondered how they were doing.

Between the three of them, they had Roman’s phone and a burner phone that couldn’t do much other than call.

Part of it was that he was bored, part of it was that he was just thinking about old times, and part was just the relief of the sweep being over. But he wanted to try talking to his fr-- acquaintances, really, and it had been at least a year since he’d talked to any of them, they probably were even less than that now. But still.

“Um… Roman?”

“Hmm?” Roman looked up from the fire. That had been his way of not getting bored, keeping the fire going. Between cutting work and tending the fire almost constantly, it seemed to be working for him.

“Can I…” It felt weird… bad… asking for something as personal and valued as a phone. “CanIborrowyourphoneIswearI’lltakecareofit--”

“Woah, slow down, you want my phone?”

Virgil hesitated, but nodded.

“Yeah, sure. It’s plugged in on the kitchen counter. We’ll do the bonfire in an hour or so, but you can have it till then.”

Virgil was very surprised that Roman would just let him have it, without asking why or anything. “Thanks.”

“Oh, wait, you’ll need a password. Uh… I don’t, really want to tell you, it’s kinda personal, but if you bring it here I’ll type it in.”

Virgil was even more surprised, but the password was quickly typed in and Roman handed him the phone back, cracking a joke about not downloading any viruses.

Virgil waited a long few minutes, sitting up on the kitchen counter and just staring at the home screen. It had a picture of Roman, Patton, and Logan, with Roman and Patton squishing Logan into a group hug. He felt a pang of guilt that he was the one here with them, instead of Logan.

And then he got over his anxiety enough to sign in to tumblr. Yeah, yeah, he knew it was technically ‘dead’, but that didn’t matter. He could be strange there, and instead of picking at him or just leaving him alone, everyone else was pretty strange there too.

He wasn’t terribly surprised to see 99+ notifications, since he hadn’t checked it in a year or two, but he was surprised to see that so many of them were mentions and direct messages. He nearly broke down in tears seeing how concerned people had been for him. They’d left kind messages, ‘for whenever he came back’, and they’d started chains of ‘loving V hours’. One of his old friends had sent him a message every week, even if it was something like ‘hey, come back, idiot, we miss you’.

So he messaged them first.

They didn’t respond immediately, probably didn’t have notifications on, or busy or something, and Virgil started scrolling through his dash. The tears swimming around in his eyes fell when he saw the post. It was someone advocating for the vampires. Saying that, no matter what they’d done, they didn’t deserve to be massacred. Virgil went to the blog, and saw that she was getting a lot of hate, but was making and reblogging things supporting the vampires, and ‘conspiracy theories’ about how they were treated that he knew to be true. He followed immediately. He kept scrolling, and found a few people agreeing with her, a very few supporting and sharing information around.

He’d always been interested in conspiracy theories, in cryptids, he wouldn’t be giving himself away to reblog some of these.

A fwip sound made him jump and then smile.

Virgil went back to the beginning, writing out his story, and just avoiding names and places, just in case. It wasn’t easy, and by the end he was fighting back tears again. His friend wasn’t, they kept sending sobbing faces, and alternately saying how sorry they were that something like this would happen and raging against the people that had done it.

V, you don’t have to do this, but I think you should write that down. Make a post of it. I’ve seen the theories I don’t even know how many times, but I never got close to guessing how true they were. You… you really, really, don’t have to, and definitely don’t put your face in them, but taking pictures of the scars would really make it a lot more real to people.

I think it could do worlds of good. I’ve never heard things like this. NEVER. I absolutely believe you, and I think other people would too. Use a fake name, make a new blog, heck, make a whole new account, you don’t want people tracing this. But I really think you should do it.

Virgil was quiet during the bonfire, but it was the thinking kind of quiet, not the anxious kind, which helped Patton feel better about it. They’d managed to get marshmallows, and to roast them. Virgil had hoped he could eat just one without problems, which, well, didn’t work out, but after that he ate a whole lot of them, ‘just to spite his body’.

They ended up laying on blankets near the fire, looking up through the leaves at the few stars they could see.

“Thanks for keeping me with you,” Virgil said. “I’ve… I’ve been thinking about the past, and if you’d sent me back, or…” his voice strangled a bit. “Or kept me in that coffin…”

“Virgil, I’m so, so glad that you’re here with us now.” Patton said. “I wouldn’t be the same person I am without you. If… Looking back on it, the very idea of leaving you there makes me sick.”

“You’re an important kid, and I’m glad we have you,” Roman said.

Virgil just nodded silently, curling in on himself a little.

Patton locked eyes with Roman, and they each had the same idea, moving to Virgil’s blanket and sandwiching him between them. There was no protest from Virgil, and he even grabbed their hands, squeezing silently.

Patton gave a soft squeeze back. “We’re here now, and we have you, and we won’t let go.”

“No, we won’t.” Roman echoed.

“Thank you,” Virgil said, his voice rather choked up, but a watery smile on his face.

1. Why did you choose your url? My username is inspired from that one scene in Ep 400 (Ran’s Suspicions) where Shinichi and Ran are discussing their car’s number plate preferences; and Ran suggests Shinichi should use Ku10-41; because it sounds like his name. It was something Ran came up for Shinichi, which I found really cute; so back in 2016, when I was up my fanfiction account, I ended up using this as my username and it sort of became my digital identity in the DC fandom, so I just defaulted to this username while setting up my Tumblr as well.

3. How long have you been on tumblr? With an account? 3 months. As an anonymous lurker? More than 3 years I guess?

5. Why did you start your blog in the first place? Well, I’d been an anonymous lurker on Tumblr for awhile but always lazed on actually creating an account. A few months ago, I thought, hey maybe DC is gonna end soon, so I should use this time to connect with fellow ShinRan fans. And that’s how we are here.

6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp? I think it’s pretty obvious. It’s a pic of Ran being a badass; and everyone loves a badass Ran. It’s from the scene in the anime where Ran tells off Sera, during the besieged detective agency case, that Shinichi would never allow a man to die if he can help it. She said this line with so much conviction, I think I fell in love with Ran and ShinRan all over again.

7. Why did you choose your header? Again, it’s something which I feel perfectly summarizes the ShinRan dynamic, especially Shinichi’s affection for Ran. He silently stands by Ran’s side, being there for her, emotionally supporting her, without her realizing that he’s there with her. He’s not big with words of affection and doesn’t say how much he cares for her, he just lets his actions do the talking. He tires hard to feign indifference but stills ends up making his feelings crystal clear (to the spectators atleast; there’s a reason why they get teased by the whole school for being a married couple, even though they keep denying it to themselves). Little things that he does, speaks a lot about his feelings; and we keep seeing glimpses of the same throughout the manga.

8. What's your post with the most notes? Currently, it’s the meme I posted a couple days ago – the one where Aoyama is saying he’ll catch up to Golgo 13 LOL. It took me a whole 5 mins, and it has more notes than the amv I posted a couple months back which took the whole night LOL.

Hey, Rad... Alex... Alexlememe? I know that's the name you used to go by and I know you've kinda disconnected yourself from Viv's fanbase after ZP ended, and I remember your memes and such but I kinda just wanted to get your take on the Hazbin drama since you reblogged the headcanon blog's post on the subject. More or less regarding the issue of her being uncharitable to fans and non-fans alike, plus that one callout post on twitter?

So this is weird. I wasn’t expecting to get asks on the subject since like you said, I’ve generally been disconnected from the fanbase aside from the few reblogs here and there retaining to Hazbin and its more recent developments. But yeah I guess I could give my take on this since I mean.. old fans still follow me. Idk why, but they do!So, really. In regards to that callout post (which is now deleted) I really, really don’t care that much. For one thing, Initially I did because I really hated to see someone be slandered so viciously with inaccurate and uncharitable attacks, but I kinda just stopped because even when I linked the addresses from both Viv, and the Ken dude regarding all the drama mentioned, it was either ignored and resulting in me being called a “pedo sympathizer” or “It wasn’t even an apologyyyyy weh” and like, whatever. I stopped giving a shit.

Terms of the traced animation thing... Lol, ok. I mean homages do exist, and her animation thingy was based on a meme so whatevs.

Anyways,I knew from the very start that the whole “tracing” and “stealing designs” stuff was nonsense since there was an entire like, tumblr drama arc on the issue, and albeit Viv’s post is gone, there’s evidence of legal contracts regarding Jiji and that whole nonsense that was years ago. In regards to her drawing pictures of Blaire White and Shoe… Eh. I mean, yeah, fuck em, but she’s made it clear that she doesn’t support those views anymore, and she wasn’t even really aware of the other things they’d done at that point, and I see no real reason not to believe her because what does lying about that gain her? Yeah her comment on the “blackface” thing if you wanna call it that was dumb as shit, but considering 2016 was a rough year for her in terms of trying to find where she fell in the political sphere, I can relate because I was in the same boat. A lot of sjw cringe comps, shaming feminists, and purposely misgendering transpeople… Not a good time for me either! Course I’ve changed. As for the whole pedo/zoo shit, I really don’t see it. I mean like, look, obviously porn art portraying people fucking feral animals is disgusting right. As for the pedo shit… The relationship between a 17 year old and a 19 year old is… hardly creepy and reminiscent of pedo shit. So yeah no fuck that. Now with the drawing of Mirage and Kestrel and the tag that said something jokingly like “Mirage and her pedo tendencies” or whatever… Yeah idk, I can’t defend that lmfao. Again, Viv said she disapproves of those drawings and doesn’t care to think about them, but that one piece of artwork definitely had some baggage to it that made me feel uncomfortable after reading the tags.Only issue I took in terms of her addressing that, is that she was very adamant about it being an inside joke… Which if that’s true, you must’ve had some fucked up friends like damn.

I would also like to state that cub art is legitimately disgusting and I am of the belief that it can cause harm depending on the context since I assume the consumption of cub art can reinforce the urge for pedophiles to act on their desires instead of finding healthy coping mechanisms for it through therapy. There have been stories from younger users on the internet that older people have tried to groom them and have the notion of pedos preying on them be normalized by sending them art depicting kids in sexual acts with adults. Of course in isolation cub art isn’t as harmful as the actual act of raping a child, and I would argue that people have their priorities kind of messed up since the illustration being acknowledged should be part of combating pedophiles preying on children. However, people, typically twitter wokescolds tend to focus on the art solely and I don’t know why. There’s a lot of MAPS trying to find their way into LGBT spaces and it’s fucking gross.

Now with Hazbin itself… It’s meh. Initially I watched it with rose-tinted glasses and loved it. After watching it for like… the 3rd, 4th, 5th time? It’s alright. I don’t hate it, but it’s far from perfect. Now ofc I know it’s a pilot but a very lengthy pilot I’ll say. My biggest gripe with the pilot is that the editing is really fucking weird. Like the editing where Angel tells Alastor “I can suck yah dick!” and the scene that followed was really off. It seemed like too many cuts were made in that instance and seemed very cluttered. It also feels that way during Charlie singing “Inside Every Demon is a Rainbow” and how many little animated bits were like almost wiped off the screen by how fast it came by, and ntm there was just so much happening all at once on screen as well. I had to pause at points just to process everything that was happening. The palette is also very, very, verrrry red. There’s so much red going on and like… I get it, it’s in hell. But lemme rest my eyes on something else besides red, please. The palette they use needs to be better diversified, and the same goes for the characters too. Every character seems to have red on them. Whenever Baxter shows up later he’s gonna look really out of place. Some of the jokes were ok, and others seemed non-clever. I didn’t think Angel’s joke about sucking Al’s dick was funny. I did like the joke with Pentious and Angel though. “SON??” Some of it could’ve been written better too.

Regarding the drama with the show itself… Personally I don’t get it. Like, I don’t feel as if Angel is homophobic as a character since his queerness isn’t at the face of the jokes he makes? He just happens to be sex worker which… sex workers are fine? Support sex workers y’all, seriously. There’s also nothing intrinsically wrong with being sexually active either? As long as it’s within reason and you’re being trustworthy.The issue lies in the fact that people viewed the things I just mentioned as negative, and associate it with gay people as said negatively portrayed thing to push the sentiment of “Gay man do sex a lot therefore the gays bad” or that sort of thing. Also there’s a bit where it shows there’s more emotional depth to him and I’m hoping they’ll expand on that later. Honestly though, the criticisms in regards to that have been pretty uncharitable. Same with the criticisms for Vaggie. Apparently Vaggie is racist because… she’s loud and angry? Again, this is a case where people assume those traits are negative, and because it’s assumed to be negative, the negatively portrayed thing pushes the sentiment of “Being a loud fiery woman made, and latina women are that, therefore latina women bad” or some shit.  There are stereotypes that are bad no matter what the context is like sambo-esque caricatures of black people. Then there are tropes that are applied to certain demographics that have the capability to be written well into characters without it being offensive or disrespectful. Vaggie is literally angry because she’s protective of her gf. Like. C’mon.

So, I think that settles what I think about that? It honestly seems like superficial shit to me tbh, and I’m saying this as an sjw-y beta cuck anarchist.

The only REAL gripe I have, is with what the mod from @zpheadcanons posted. Because I know this is probably true as much as it hurts me to say it. Faust def has a history of being pretty petty and bully-like to people she deems undesirable, and Viv harbors it by not criticizing it, and if anyone else within their friend group does it then you’re scolded vehemently and treated like garbage. Her attitude also stretches to harboring an audience full of white knights that I personally don’t approve of.

If you don’t make an effort to criticize abusive behavior within your own friend circles then that makes you just as bad, because then you’re just a bystander to things you could have prevented.

This isn’t to say Viv herself hasn’t dealt with bad faith actors, or people who had the intention to hurt her, or very uncharitable criticism. Particularly from the badwebcomics forums which is honestly 4chan like in how they operate. It’s vicious as hell, and a lot of their criticisms boil down to insults and personal attacks, which serve to be nonconstructive. That’s not to say Viv has been kind to even the more charitable criticism though. I know because when I happened to send an ask to the zoophobia criticism blog (where did it go???) regarding something relatively minor and superficial, she blocked me from her blog. I’m still blocked lmfao. I’m not blocked on twitter though! (not yet anyways). Faust has me blocked there though, and I have no idea why. She’s had me blocked for years even though I haven’t spoken out against her till recently. So, there’s that.

As for her apology itself, I feel like it was fine. I think it could’ve been worded better? The take I disagree with in terms of that is like… If I made a mistake in the past, and I make it clear that I don’t care for what I did, I don’t feel as if me explaining why I felt compelled to do certain things negate me from still not caring for my past actions? That’s just me providing context. That’s a really weird take, but I guess that could be viewed as an excuse idk. Personally I think people are holding the bar super high to a state of irrationality.

*sigh* So yeah there’s that. I miss the old days where honestly I could be ignorant about this, but at the same time I look at my old obsessive posts and I kinda just… cringe. I was such an irrational stan I almost hate myself for it. Fuck XD

I've been wanting to to make this for a while now. Even though it's very weird. But since I'm done reblogging some stuff and not gonna distract myself more or so.

If we ever for a Villainous movie, I think Michael Dougherty would be a excellent choice if there was ever one.

The reason why I think this post seems weird and sounds ridiculous. Because Villainous has been mostly a web series and is on its way to trying to become a full length show. So the idea of a movie adaptation is kind of a crazy. But it's mainly a fun idea.

It's also because ever since Godzilla King Of The Monsters 2019, I have this huge respect for Michael Dougherty as a director.

In a funny way I would literally bow down to him similar to how DCEU fans would would do with Zack Snyder. Especially I am a Zack Snyder fan, basically I got the reference for the whole bowing down thing. Even though I would mostly be, "In Legendary we trust" for Monsterverse.

But being serious the reason I even go with a choice like Michael Dougherty is considering his work not just on KOTM 2019. But even on other films he's made like Trick R Treat and Krampus.

While I've seen Krampus, it's not a favorite of mine, and I haven't seen Trick R Treat only parts, but I know the story of the movie. It's the horror comedy thing that he's good at. Especially in a weird way I guess he embraces it.

At first the way I thought of a Villainous film being like a black comedy in a way. Because I'll be honest yet I could be stupid, I see the show Villainous as like that. Considering I googled more of the definition. The show is well....we the fan base know it's freaking dark. It's a dark comedy basically. But also some horror comedy elements can be added too.

I just think Michael Dougherty is a natural fit.

In fact as a bonus, Black Hat would be played by Alan Ituriel by using motion capture and other stuff. Stuff you've seen in films with CGI characters. Including makes the performance better because he voices both Black Hat in both the Spanish and English dubs.

Next 505 would still be played by Mark Fischbach aka Markiplier because voicing him seems easy I think. 505 would basically be a CGI bear. I don't know if motion capture should be involved, okay if they want to. A joke for the film is when Flug turns 505 into a human by mistake and it's Mark playing the human version of 505.

The other two like Flug and Demencia are difficult to cast. I still need to look into those casting choices. Well Flug could be played by his voice actor because he would have his paper bag on his head. But I feel I want him to be seen as the 24 to 25 year old that the show confirmed him to be. Maybe the actor can do the lisp stuff.

Or make it easy with it being a animated movie. But still this is just a fine idea because I mentioned in a reblog that I really like Legendary a lot that I would not mind if they got the rights to a Villainous movie.

Strangely I keep thinking of the movie of just Flug trying to impress Black Hat despite it would be for nothing. Or even to take down a strong hero which might get Flug some good recogniztion from Black Hat...till Black Hat tells him he did a mediocre job like in the pilot, "The Dreadful Dawn".

I'm rambling now I wanted to share this. Especially I'll be honest, I've been impressed by my supposed live action casting of certain cartoon characters or ideas. It started with my Hilda movie idea. With Travis Knight as the director, Millie Bobby Brown as Hilda, and Emilia Clarke as Johanna. But to make it easy, you could just still cast Bella Ramsey because she and Millie are the same age.

I might do a Steven Universe one because I love the show.

Only difference when I make these posts, they aren't gonna be produced by Michael Bay like I joked about, and Legendary some how got the rights to make movies on certain shows.

Yeah I know people complain about the live action Disney remakes. These are just fun ideas I'm thinking about. Besides movies like these might never happen. Also I've enjoyed some of the Disney live action remakes, haven't seen all of them though.

Including don't take this as a legitimate confirmation. I might make some fake movie memes again.

Especially I try not to be get super into crossovers between SU or Hilda with Villainous because of how that show is. Despite I think of certain interactions between characters.

But fuck it the unrealistic Legendary Cartoonverse is the greatest fucking thing in my mind now. But it doesn't have Looney Tunes or anything Disney related or whatever classics. Jesus I'm rambling more, let certain movies just not crossover....but it's genius now. It's the Monsterverse but with cartoons I love. 0_0

hello, and happy chinese new year! thanks for the question!! i actually don’t exactly know which ask meme you’re referring to (i reblog a lot of ask memes don’t i???) so i’m assuming its for the latest one here because it’s the latest post i have with the title as ‘writer ask meme’? (please let me know if i got it wrong!)10. Pick an author (or writing friend) to co-write a book with 

 this is already difficult!! i actually still don’t know enough about the writing styles of the writers here, and i don’t have any writing friends in real life (okay... maybe i have like, one, but she does poetry and journalism and i don’t... but her writing is beautiful) so i really don’t know yet!! does anyone want to co-write a book with me ?? HAHA. for an author... hm............. rick riordan. i think our humour coincides sometimes, and we can bounce off stupid jokes on one another. i love cold humour and lame puns. also, i love greek mythology.20. Any advice for young writers/advice you wish someone would have given you early on? 

 i think i’ve been really lucky in that everyone has been really encouraging so far. i mean, my friends and family know that i like to write and they always encourage me to, though they have never read my stuff before so maybe that’s only because they don’t know my capability (or lack thereof)... so the issues i’ve ever had was only with myself. i guess my advice would be like, remember that one tiny idea / concept that you had since young??? well, sometimes it manifests into an actual novel in adulthood, things come around, so you know, don’t ever fully give up on your ideas!!!when i was younger, i had a vague idea about writing something in the afterlife, but it never worked out. it’s very different from my current wip in that it’s a full-fledged fantasy that was meant to be epic with things like the worlds colliding and a powerful core and multiple realms and things like that, but that i never finished / started it and maybe it was never meant to be like that, because suddenly in my adulthood i’ve found another idea in the afterlife and it isn’t even close to what i originally had in mind, but i still love it, and maybe this is what it’s all meant to become since then. who knows? is this even advice????? i think it’s just mindless introspection. but yea, i guess that’s all i’ve got.30. Do you like to read books similar to your project while you’re drafting or do you stick to non-fiction/un-similar works? 

i try not to read anything while i’m writing my own work (also, i haven’t read a book in... ages), so definitely that means nothing similar to my project as well! there’s always that inherent fear or accidentally taking someone else’s ideas and internalising it as your own, and while there are obviously tropes and concepts and intangible things that can always be found in similar books, it’s a fine line between that, and accidentally plagiarising something, so yea, i don’t want to fall into that trap of getting inspired by a similar story while writing my own. it might get a little complicated.

40. Do you look up to any of your writer buddies?

like i said, i don’t really know a lot of your writing styles yet, but i definitely look up to the writeblrs out here!!! there are so many writers with such strong, complex, intricate worldbuilding that i can’t ever imagine doing , people who have such strong interesting character and character relationships, and people with such amazing, crazy plots that i’m honestly so excited about, and of course, all of the great people here who are so welcoming and friendly and ahhhh, it’s a great community. i think everyone here is brilliant tbh, and there’s way too many people to tag here but all of you are amazing! i’m gonna pull an ellen degeneres here and say, to the great writeblrs out there, ‘you know who you are’ HAHA50. Do you share your rough drafts or do you wait until everything is all polished? 

well so far i’ve only ever finished writing three first-drafts(2 of them are part of a series, and they’re still on their first drafts since... a couple of years ago. the last one is like all things out of season). for the first two that are part of a series, i was just honestly so glad that i finally finished writing something that i shared it with one of my friends. it is honestly a terrible book with pretty cringey writing and a weak plot, but there are still a lot of aspects of it that i like and i might rewrite it one day.for like all things out of season, though, i don’t want to share it at its current first draft stage, because it’s still kinda messy, the characterisations are a little all over a place (that’s why i’m working on the companion novel now, to figure the characters out a little bit more), and i think it needs a lot of improvement. and also another big thing because i see its potential (unlike my previous two, which have to really be completely scrapped and replotted and rewritten if i want to do it again) and that i think it can come together soon if i work on it for a while longer, so yeah, i’d rather wait till everything’s polished. also, i don’t know who to share my drafts with (none of my friends seem particularly interested??? fine, i don’t talk about my wip with them and a lot of them might not even know im writing something, but for those who i have mentioned it to, they don’t seem that interested. or maybe they don’t want to pry because they know i need my privacy, idk)thank you for the question, and i really really hope i answered the right ones!!!

I’ve been on Tumblr since 2009 on different blogs but until like 2011 I only knew it as a place to reblog relatable memes. It was like a plus version of Facebook bumper stickers. Anyways in 2011 I learned that wow, you can participate on fandom on Tumblr. Previously, I had only been on ffdotnet writing my fic

So I followed a bunch of Hetalia blogs, developed an admiration for one or two, continued writing fic. And then one day I saw my fav blog liveblogging a fic and being like what the fuck this is so stupid. Then they posted an excerpt AND IT WAS MY FIC LMAO. they dragged me for FILTH. 

and it wasn’t like, oh the writing is bad. it was like oh, which highschooler is gonna have a crush for almost a year. my 17 yr old bitch ass self, who nurtured a crush for 2 and a half years, thru tears: y-y-y-yeah who….

like they were posting excerpts and shit and making fun of the fic and my interest in Hetalia overall just tanked. like for a 17 yr old who used it just as a fun outlet and also had a lot of school stuff and a high average to maintain…it killed my interest in creating and taking the time to create. also I was just bummed my favourite blog like basically called my fic stupid. I don't think I wrote anything new after that till 2017, I just spent two years finishing up one fic and that was it.

 but that experience also like retrospectively taught me how to just like. not care at some level. write fic for yourself. learn, improve, but create in general for urself because there’s gonna be someone out there who’s gonna hate it anyways

sth that really pisses me off - which ppl on here simply don't acknowledge- is that Dada has such a deep-rooted connection to anti-capitalism, anti-bourgeois movements, it's highly critical of society and popular aesthetics. Dada was a movement that was highly political and critical of society the classic art scene. These "shitposts" aren't just random 20th century memes, they were created in the context of a movement against modern society&economic systems that - to them - created WWI.

honestly, comparing dada to memes already makes sure you’ve basically killed dada because dada was so against the goddamn popculture shit and memes are solely based on popculture. theyre two entirely different things.

theyre both products of their time, and it shows. dada was an action against capitalism and the oppressors, it was activism, while memes (im gonna reach very very far here and fucking…….art critique memes) are “born” out of the hopelessness (i guess, ugh it hurts for me to talk about this) young people feel against this system. dada was an active fight while memes are more and more nihilistic and “who gives a shit right??? lmao give in” and the two are obviously different

when people compare dada to memes they often act like dada was “a shitpost because they felt hopeless about the future”, which literally couldnt be more wrong. after WWI artists were anything BUT hopeless. they’d seen what people could do and strove to better the world. the hopelessness people are referring to didnt happen till that bettering of the world failed (after WWII), where it grew and is still growing today.

you can see it in activism today too. most of it is done the easy way, and internet activism is a goddamn joke. we all live in a bubble, the algorithms make sure of that, like 85% of left wing people are liberals and not comfortable with the idea that the people they come into contact with is calculated by computer being bad, and 99% of the so-called activists today describe activism as writing and angry article or blog post, which is only gonna be seen by the people who already agree with you anyway.

as much as i hate the “millenials amirite” shit, there IS a problem with our activism. and when i ask people about it, they theorize about “ohhh its because we dont think its gonna work anyway”, “idk im kinda tired of politics” and “it doesnt matter anyway”. when it comes to activism for the current left, just “realizing that things are bad” is enough, but actively protesting against it isnt done because its easier to click reblog on a tumblr post and feel like you made a change in the world when you really, really havent.

i see it in my own country more and more, a while ago someone bitched about how students and millenials were lazy, people actively made a facebook event about protesting against it, like 30k people were gonna be there, and there were less than 1000 people on the day itself. everyone else was sleeping in bed.

theorizing about why this hopelessness and lack of trying to change things is here is fine, but if it ends at that youre basically giving up, and thats exactly the opposite of what Dada is, but it IS EXACTLY what the new nihilistic meme trend is about.

i cant believe i went in this deep on memes, but yeah, people on tumblr acting like memes are some radical form of art activism are fucking ridiculous and know nothing about the history of activism or dada. or art. just, theyre people who like to imagine themselves as the activists of our time and because they dont wanna actually go out and be activists, they find some dumbass fake connection between memes and art and pretend that memes are somehow a way of fighting the system.

I’m sorry I missed your initial reblog; my first salty meme that I made for the twentieth anniversary PokéAni movie has been filling my notifications, and tumblr ends up eating some notifications when you receive too many. I’m sorry about that!

That said, I read your tags, and---there is more to that fic, but it’s unfinished. It’s currently resting at 16 pages / 8317 words. I can’t say when it will be completed, but here is another snippet since you were interested:

It was the work he put into this that led him tracking down Jounouchi that Saturday after school—well, that and the fact that Jounouchi had been AWOL the previous day, something Hirutani was not about to let slide. Hirutani found him over by the bike rack, steering his bike away from it, and although Hirutani felt a brief note of confusion for why Jounouchi was choosing to walk alongside his bike rather than ride it, he had his unspoken question answered a second later when he noticed Honda Hiroto by Jounouchi’s side.

Honda. Of course. If Hirutani had to guess, that was the reason why Jounouchi had ditched on the previous day’s activities, too. If that was the case, Hirutani couldn’t claim to be surprised.

As much as he wanted to lay into Jounouchi for ditching him, and as much as he wanted to chew him out for not even bothering to check in today as well, Hirutani swallowed his temper and made his way over. He caught up to them as they made it back to the main path, and circled around so that he was standing in front of Jounouchi’s bike. Honda noticed him immediately and stiffened, but Jounouchi didn’t look up until Hirutani placed his foot against his bike’s tire to impede its progress.

“Oh. Hey,” Jounouchi said, and it took actual effort for Hirutani to not roll his eyes at how casual he looked and sounded.

“You have plans tonight,” he said instead, and while Honda scowled (no doubt thinking all sorts of things he wouldn’t dare to actually say while Hirutani was standing right there, Hirutani was sure), Jounouchi frowned a little, looking confused.

“Uh, not . . . really, no. I don’t really have anything going on. Actually, I was thinking—”

“No, I’m telling you, you have plans,” Hirutani said. Honda exhaled sharply and looked away, while Jounouchi raised his eyebrows.

“Really?” he asked, and he leaned against his bike’s handlebars. “Says who?”

“Me. Who do you think?” Hirutani said. Jounouchi snorted and smirked a little, and it was only because Hirutani knew Jounouchi wouldn’t—couldn’t, really, but at least wouldn’t in this case—say no that kept him from resisting the impulse to knock the smirk off his face. “Listen. Kirishima is throwing a house party tonight since his parents are out of town for the weekend. Not only will everyone from his group be there, but I’m sure there will be plenty of others, too—others that we can secure tonight so we don’t have to do the extra legwork later. We’re going.”

Jounouchi, to his credit, did look interested. “Will there be chicks there?”

This time, Hirutani did roll his eyes. “What the hell do you think? Obviously, but—”

“And it’s gonna be a big thing, right? A ton of people will be crashing it, right?”

“Probably. Do you—”

“Hey, Honda.” Jounouchi looked over at Honda, who looked a bit startled at being so abruptly pulled into the conversation, though probably not as startled as Hirutani felt that Jounouchi actually had the audacity to talk to Honda right in front of him. “Wanna go to a party?”

Hirutani didn’t know where to begin—whether he should point out that Honda clearly wasn’t invited, or that Jounouchi didn’t need to sit there and invite someone when it was obvious the two of them were going to the party for a reason—but before he had a chance to say anything, Honda’s eyes darted to him for a second before he looked back at Jounouchi with an expression that suggested he had swallowed a live insect.

“No thanks,” he said.

Hirutani was grateful that Honda at least knew his place, but the fact that Jounouchi actually looked a little disappointed did nothing to lessen Hirutani’s quickly souring mood. 

“Okay. Suit yourself,” Jounouchi said, before he looked back at Hirutani. “Sounds cool to me, man. I’m in.”

“I know,” Hirutani said, and Honda rolled his eyes and looked away with another bitchy huff as Hirutani said, “We’ll meet by the station at nine thirty. You can tell your old man you’re spending the night at my place.”

Jounouchi scoffed. “Like he gives a damn where I am. He’ll probably be passed out by the time I leave, anyway.”

“Even better.”

By this point, the crowds had mostly thinned, with the only stragglers being those who had to cross the schoolyard to make it to their after-school clubs or sports teams. They still had about six hours to go before the party, and there was plenty they could do in that time—plenty that Hirutani wanted to do, anyway—but before he could open his mouth to say anything, Jounouchi beat him to the punch.

“Anyway, I’ll see you later. We’ve got things to do before the party.” He jerked his head toward Honda, who glanced over at Hirutani, but said nothing.

Hirutani clenched his jaw as he looked at Jounouchi. “What things?”

Jounouchi shrugged. “Just stuff, don’t worry about it. I’ll meet you by the station later, okay?”

Though he would be well within his rights to point out that, no, this was not okay considering that Jounouchi had ditched out on him the previous day, Hirutani knew that he would at least have Jounouchi later that night, and what they were set to accomplish at Kirishima’s was more important than whatever petty bullshit Jounouchi had going on with Honda. “Fine. Don’t be late.”

Jounouchi rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah. C’mon, Honda, let’s go.”

Hirutani stepped aside so that Jounouchi could steer his bike past him, and he watched the two of them head toward the school gate, Honda suddenly looking a lot more animated (but no less pissy) as he said something to Jounouchi, who shook his head as he replied.

In a few more months, they would be done with middle school. About four months, actually—less than a half a year. Once they graduated, Hirutani and Jounouchi would go to Rintama High, and Honda would go to whatever pissant school he had chosen. Hirutani didn’t know which school it was, and frankly, so long as it wasn’t Rintama (and he felt confident in thinking that it wasn’t), he didn’t care. The important thing was that, in four months time, Jounouchi and Honda would be separated by different schools, and at that point, Honda wouldn’t be a problem for Hirutani to contend with anymore. He would finally have Jounouchi where he wanted him.

Four months. He just had to make it through the next four months.

Aside from that, I saw your note about liking Hirutani’s characterization, and thank you!! In all honesty, I’ve fleshed out Hirutani a lot, and I don’t feel it makes me arrogant to say that I’ve put more care and effort into the king bitch himself (as a friend of mine once called him) than Takahashi ever did. That said, if you liked his characterization there, then I have written quite a few other fics with him, if you’re interested. (And if you’ve already read them and I’m wasting your time, I’m sorry! It’s just that, like I said, Tumblr has been eating my notifications over the past few days, orz.) Those fics are:

A Spark to Ignite --- Jounouchi caught Hirutani’s eye after school one day when they were thirteen. The problem---for Jounouchi, anyway---was that Hirutani never had been very keen on letting things go. [Pre-Canon]

It Will Be Held Against You --- Hirutani intends for Jounouchi to join his gang again, but of course, Jounouchi has always been stubborn. They may have to spend some time in negotiations first. [This one serves as a prequel to chapter 11 of the original manga, but because of that it can also serve as a prequel to . . .]

Whispers in the Dark --- When Yuugi finds Jounouchi with Hirutani and his old gang and pleads with him to come back, Jounouchi forcibly pushes him away. This one decision leads to a downward spiral, but then, Jounouchi will do anything to protect those he loves, no matter what happens to him in the process. [Canon Divergence from Ch. 11 in the manga]

Bound to Leave a Mark --- Hirutani always likes it when he leaves a scar, but sometimes the most significant ones happen by a pure stroke of impulse. [Pre-Canon]

Not a Fan of Puppeteers --- The Millennium Items are stolen from Yuugi after Battle City, and Hirutani ends up with the Millennium Rod. This ends about as well as one would expect.

A Harmless Chat --- On his way home from work one evening, Yuugi is "offered" a ride home by Hirutani, and an invitation to talk. Yuugi accepts, but as anticipated, the talk isn't something he wants to hear. [Post-canon] [Established Wishshipping]

Conversations and Promises --- Yuugi finally tells Jounouchi about the conversation he had with Hirutani, and Jounouchi takes it about as well as you would expect. [Post-canon] [Follow-up to A Harmless Chat]

Hirutani isn’t actually in that last one, but it’s a sequel to a Hirutani fic, so I figured it was worth listing, anyway.

Anyway, I hope to have Tilling a Grave to Keep Things Level finished eventually, and I’m really grateful that you enjoy both my writing and my characterization of Hirutani, because I’ve put a lot of thought and care into him, bastard coated bastard that he is. :) Thank you!!

2. Favorite genre of fic?

I’m sorry that I’m so boring, but I have to say romance lol (because the right romance fics are so much better than most published romance novels). But I also love love love some other plot in it. Actually, I don’t think I really have a set favourite genre? Whatever speaks to me, basically? Many of my favourite fics aren’t really all that similar to each other. But I guess since I’m looking for romance stuff the most, it’s romance.

3. Favorite fandom? 

Another tough question because I am so very indecisive, I can’t have a favourite fandom. I love many fandoms. I mean, I guess I’d have to say Harry Potter because somehow, I’m always coming back to it because there are just so many quality fic in there if you know where to look. It’s kind of also kind of one of my very first fandoms and now I’ve been in it for so long, I can’t just abandon it lol

Just fandom-wise I really really love Haikyuu because that fandom is just so nice? I mean, I’m not all that involved in any fandom I guess, which is why I miss many things and conflicts (e.g. I only found out about all the drama in the MCU fandom re Iron Man vs Cap or the drama in the Teen Wolf fandom through people I follow lol), but the worst I have witnessed in Haikyuu is how some people gave thought-out arguments (without insults) why one character is or is not coded as a “villain” type character (there was/is a dispute about one character because some hate/dislike him and others defend him). And that’s it. Other than that it’s mostly “OMG I LOVE EVERY CHARACTER AND SHIP EVERYTHING” from almost everyone in that fandom lol (or “I don’t care what you ship as long as you let me ship my stuff, ship and let ship”). It’s just really chill. It’s also the fandom that really made me a poly-shipper. Idk, man, I love that fandom.

The Yuri!!! on ice fandom is also really nice. Those people sure like to discuss and explain things lol Also, almost everyone had, literally, the same reactions to the stuff happening in it. Plus, we got a healthy, loving, explicit same-sex relationship in an anime. That’s, like, a really rare thing. The only other genre-anime I know with an explicit same-sex kind-of-relationship is No. 6, and that relationship is so friggin far from healthy it’s not funny (sorry, NezuShi fans, I am a fan of them too, but their relationship throughout the entirety of the series is not healthy by any standard, which is totally explainable by the circumstances, but seriously, they’ll have a lot of growing up to do before it can be called healthy). Anyway, I digress.

6. Favorite fic (or one of them)? 

HOW CAN YOU ASK ME FOR JUST ONE

I shall give you MORE THAN ONE, because I can and I will.

Okay, so, first I just have to tell you about my first absolute favourite fic ever, which, I’m really sorry, but it’s in German and it’s a Yu-Gi-Oh! fic lol

It’s “Paw Prints - Pfotenabdrücke” by someone I’m actually following on here ( @goldandcold ) who is an amazing and talented writer and I really have to read stuff by her again asdfghjkl but atm I’m into very different fandoms and just *cries* I need more time so I can watch the stuff she’s watching and writing for lol can someone, like, gift me a hundred free hours? lol

Anyway, that fic has character death in it, which is something I usually avoid at all costs because I know myself and I know I’ll be depressed about it for at least a week if I read character death. I’m like that lol

But I did because I always make exceptions for writers I like. Well, it became my favourite fic, so I guess I can’t complain. I will always remember the last words in there

“Du bist quer über mein Herz gelaufenwie ein kleiner tollpatschiger Hund über nassen Sandund du hast überall deine Pfotenabdrücke hinterlassen”

which roughly translates to

“You walked across my heartlike a little clumsy dog across wet sandand you’ve left your paw prints everywhere”

asdfghjkl I just love those words, they resonated with me so much and asdfghjk *flails* yeah, first fave fic. (also, now I’m in nostalgia land)

Another favourite fic I love to come back to is “Eclipse” by mijan (Harry Potter this time, back then I read it on fictionalley, but the link doesn’t seem to work atm? Is fictionalley down?). I am still entranced every time I read it and whenever I start it I have to continue reading till the end because I just love it so much. The plot is so amazingly intricate and the character development is THE FRIGGING BEST I CAN’T and everything makes so much sense and asdfghjkl it is just very amazing ok. The amount of detail in that story *sigh* *must resist reading it now before all the exams*

Another two favourite Harry Potter fics are “All Our Secrets Laid Bare” and “Stop All the Clocks”, both by @firethesound. AOSLB is just amazing all around, okay, I even reblogged a rec for it here on tumblr (here). I just love it so very much omg *flails* The idea alone to make them investigate Death Eater safe houses and all the FRIGGING DETAILS IN IT!!!!!! THE DETAILS!!!! SO MUCH LOVE!!!! (yes the exclamation marks are necessary)

I wrote a rec myself for Stop All the Clocks here. Weirdly, it also has major character death in it. But, same as above, I do make exceptions for writers I really like. That fic destroyed me though. I absolutely love the parallels in that fic, too. And how it spans many years. Just. Very beautiful, very touching, very sad. Which is why it’s great that there is AOSLB. I also still have to read all the other fics because I just KNOW they’re ALL amazing

And I’m still not done with the fave fics, guys. I’m sorry I can’t keep it short *cough*

Moving away from Harry Potter... the next one is for Free! Anime again lol It’s, weirdly, another fic that doesn’t end all that happily for the romance, and the fic is “With Vega At Your Left” by threesmallcrows. It’s a different take on a soulmate AU. Like, when the person you’re in love with isn’t your soulmate. A side character also deals with an abusive soulmate. Basically, everything that can go wrong with soulmate marks. And it’s just so real. Trigger warning for attempted suicide though (and mentioned abuse - like, the abuser doesn’t appear in the fic and the abuse is only talked about and the repercussions dealt with, but nothing explicit). I love this fic a lot, but it gives me the sads.

Okay, I still have a few favourite fics but I think I need to stop here, I’ll just link to them:

The Fears are Paper Owls by yaboykeiji (Haikyuu!! Akaashi does time jumps to try to prevent Bokuto’s death - kinda like Butterfly Effect)

Savior by dgalerab (Haikyii!! / X-Men crossover - Haikyuu characters as mutants)

Safety in Silence by survivah (Teen Wolf canon divergent soulmate AU with the soulmate “condition” not necessarily being reciprocated, lots of Sterek pining and friendship and angst, really slow-burn and really sweet and cute, very fluffy too, awesome idea to make it different for different species! Also, werewolves and other species are known to humans etc)

Gravity’s Got Nothing on You by FairyLights101 (Teen Wolf Sterek pretend to be dating AU, also the-Hales-survived AU and Laura is an important character in that fic, and because the Hales survived, Allison also lives, double yay)

Seven Deaths by x-parrot (One Piece, no pairings (le gasp!), just Zorro+Sanji friendship, there’s violence (torture) in it, it’s not very explicit, but be warned)

Aaand I think I’ll stop here.

7. One-shots or longfic? 

I think, if you look at my favourite fics, you have the answer lol. Many of them are 100k+, so yeah, longfic lol I love the development that is possible in longfics. I do like shorter fic too, though in my mind, one-shot just means it’s all in one chapter... and there are 20k one-chapter fics out there, you know. But! I do also like short stuff, it just doesn’t really end up being among my favourites.

9. What is the longest fic you’ve read? 

Tbh, I don’t remember, but Eclipse is over 287k words long, and I’m not sure if I’ve read anything longer than that.

16. How do you feel about character death in fic? 

I think I’ve answered that somewhere in that novel above lol

Usually, I avoid it like the plague because I get the sads and am down for days afterwards. It’s not that I think those fics are bad or anything. It’s just that I want happy endings lol My heart can’t take too much sad. This doesn’t change even when I make exceptions, so that’s kind of the downside I have to live with when I do lol

In published novels and movies and series etc I don’t mind character death, but fic... well, fic are different lol

31. Do you read AUs? 

Yes! I used to avoid them, but then I guess some fic changed my mind lol I really love all them tropes, soulmate AUs, fake-dating AUs, police procedural AUs, you name it. For some weird reason I’m not all gung-ho about coffeeshop AUs. I don’t mind them, and I’ll read them if they’re good, but they seem kinda boring to me. (oh, and pls don’t come with a/b/o stuff at me, it squicks me immensely and I hate it)

32. Favorite AU tropes? 

Fake dating! Soulmates! Specifically for Teen Wolf: Allison lives! The-Hales-Survived! Idk, there are too many lol Well, my fave is still the platonic bed sharing one (not sure if that counts as an AU trope, since it could also be written in non-AU fics). I also seem to like time travel / time jumps / time manipulation.

33. Least favorite AU tropes?

A/B/O fics. I just hate them and I don’t even wanna see them, they squick me *shudder* I mean, to each their own, and I wish it at least wouldn’t squick me that much (it’s a physiological reaction, I get the creeps and it’s almost like I feel one step away from nausea - same feeling I get when I see reader x character fic, squicks me too and is the sole reason I never visit the teen wolf tag because it’s full of those), but it does.

36. Do you like crossovers? If so, favorite crossover? 

I do! But I’m kinda still new to them and they’re not my favourite thing, so I haven’t read many crossover fics yet. I really like that X-Men crossover fic I linked to, and I do like Harry Potter crossovers (like, the other characters as witches and wizards in a wizarding school). Other than that I’ve also read a really cool Criminal Minds/House MD crossover once, and a Criminal Minds/Supernatural one too, and they’re pretty cool. Guess I still have to figure out what I particularly like when it’s about crossovers.

39. Favorite AU fic? 

Savior by dgalerab, as I’ve already linked above :D

This is also the fic that really got me into poly ships. The relatioship between the four characters just feels so natural as it develops, it feels like that’s how it should be. It also deals with past abuse and there is 120% consent invovled. It’s just a really good fic ok

40. Do you like fluff?

OMG I LIVE FOR FLUFF

So, yeah, I do lol I mean, I do need other stuff in it too, but I absolutely do like fics that aren’t too serious and where the conflicts aren’t life-or-death or heavy on the angst etc. Like, slice of life kind of stuff.

44. How fluffy is too fluffy? 

There is never a too fluffy +_+

Okay, jokes aside, I do want a plot. A story isn’t a story when there’s no conflict, so that’s that. Though that’s the only requirement for me, really lol Otherwise it can be as fluffy as it gets.
