- why are they so pathetic

- this is in the episode with kokone's parents. And they relate the bundoru scenes to the a plot sometimes

- the fact that godatz has apparenlty not been showing himself. He does Not care about them

- THEY ARE SO DESPERATE FOR HIS APPROVAL. THIS SCENE MEANS EVERYTHING TO ME. These two have mindsets that are focussed on negativity. So they come to this plsce/to godatz to seek validation for those mindsets. However, he doesn't care about them. And they do get abandoned. It's almost like surrounding yourself with people who approve of negative mindsets and choosing a negative environment will not actually make you happy! Go figure! (Their characters and arcs mean everything to me, you don't understand)

- the fact HE CAN JUST. SEE THEM/HEAR THEM??? AT ANY POINT????? AND THEY DID NOT KNOW THIS. THAT IS INSANE. The fact that in this episode, narcistoru does his "watch me, godatz-sama!" BECAUSE. WELL, HE COULD APPARENTLY SEE THEM BEFOREHAND, WHO KNOWS WHERE ELSE HE'S WATCHING. LMAO! (He can for sure not see them when they're in the field but frankly, i too would be paranoid after this)

- THE BLUSHING. THEY ARE SO. GRRRRRR 💕 losers. Godatz literally just shows up, tells them to get to work and they go all blushy happy

- the fact that even narcistoru is so heart eyes over godatz when he literally never expresses anything like this towards anyone else. Secretoru is more openly emotional and silly, but not narcistoru. I just think they are neat like this. Such fun characters. :]

), Now some of you are wondering, Well wait, Isn't Godatz the leader of the Bundoru Gang actually Fennel the Imperial Captain of the Cook-Fighters.... Well here's the thing, There is a reason how THAT fiasco happened.... It all comes back to the Toei Hack On March 11, 2022, According to Director Fukasawa Toshinori, He revealed in an Interview that Fennel originally was not (and I mean NOT!!) intended to be Godatz, But because of the hack, he and his staff had to immediately make Fennel the main Antagonist to fit the Rearranged flow of the season. True story, When I first seen the Fennel reveal on X-mas day.... I was laughing.... I was laughing hysterically at how Rushed, Out of nowhere and F@%$ing stupid it felt, While a part of me is offended that the Episode itself was mocking my Intelligence as a new forming Otaku, Making me question Reality as an Anime fan and an Artist.... Me and AzenZone where convinced that it would have been Ginger, After all, He was wearing Clothing Resembling the members of the Bundoru Gang in ways, But then Episode 41 came around to PULL the Rug from right under our F@%$ing Feet with this...... You all can imagine that Personally, I wasn't fond of this..... Fennel being the Main Antagonist felt like a Massive push in the gut for me, For not only did it Conflict with Fennel's own Character and Personality, You don't need me to Explain it, His OWN Wiki page does it in SOME detail

Not only does it destroy ANY chance of MAKING Fennel a great part of the P.G.S. But it Ruined what I had planned for him (Making me switch my plans over to His apprentice Cerfeuil) But it's Character Assassination Not Adding the Phoned in Back story just to Justify his Reasons, My question would be WHAT Idiot at Toei thought THIS was a Good Idea, This is Yet again Toei's Editorial Mandate Dictating things because of an Incident that Happen in there OWN F@%$ing since they DIDNT Believe Anti-Hacking Software Exist, And when the Director and Script Writer submitted this to the Higher up for Approval, WHY didn't NOBODY in Toei's Editorial Over-sight go "Why make this Supporting Character be like this, Why not JUST make it like Pierrot, Or some like FFX's Final Boss" This is Hal Jorden Turning Evil and becoming Parallax All over again, But in Anime Style!!!!!!!

But while I was coming up with Ideas for Villains United, And Playing with the Idea of Lysandre becoming President of the Pokemon World Republic, I decided NO, I refuse to believe Fennel is a Villain and had to think of a way to Undo this mess like Chris Clermont did when he came up with Avengers Annual #10 to undo what Avengers Issue 200 done to Ms Marvel (Carol Danvers), And I didn't do it alone, I talked about this with my Good Friend @MLPFan053 and he came up with an  Idea I really like and will be a stepping stone for Fennel's Redemption, For I would play with the Idea of Him having No memory of what happened when Episode 41 happened.

"MLPFan053:  This idea of mine is inspired by the Green Lantern's aka Hal Jordan's infamous fall from grace as a result of Parallax's corruption.

Maybe Fennel was not actually Godatz. The REAL Godatz was only using Fennel as a host in order to paint the image that the CooKingdom's Imperial Captain was "Godatz".

The REAL Godatz was actually imprisoned in the Recipe-Bon. Said prison is the VERY LAST page of the book itself. The Recipe-Bon's additional function as Godatz's prison was a tightly guarded secret. Known only to the members of the CooKingdom's ruling monarchy. Meaning that excluding both the CooKing and the CooQueen, none of the CooKingdom's citizens were aware of the Recipe-Bon's dark secret. Not even the Cook Fighters themselves as well as the Energy Fairies themselves. Not even Ginger. No one knows where exactly Godatz had came from or what gave birth to him. What is known about him is that he is actually an energy entity. In other words, he has no physical form but, after a long and hard battle, he was imprisoned in the book that would come to be known as the Recipe-Bon by the founders of the CooKingdom themselves. Every time a new kind of food is created for the very first time in the human world, a page that contains the corresponding food's recipe will appear as part of the Recipe-Bon. Thus, as long as the humans continue to make new kinds of food, all new recipes will be created and added as part of the Recipe-Bon. As a result, Godatz who is imprisoned in the Recipe-Bon in the form of the aforementioned book's VERY LAST page will not be able to gain the strength that he needs to break out of his prison due to the added recipes in question suppressing his power. However, then came a day when a certain Cook Fighter had lost his way and had a fateful encounter with the Recipe-Bon when no one was looking. One day, when he had the chance to do so, Fennel had came across the Recipe-Bon while he was performing a routine inspection of the place where said recipe book was being kept. The inspection had happened AFTER Ginger's funeral and, at the time, Fennel was wracked with grief towards his beloved master's death. Out of anger towards Ginger's passing, Fennel had destroyed the Recipe-Bon in a sorrowful fit of rage. However, by the time he had calmed down, he panicked and had genuinely felt remorseful for what he had done to the CooKingdom's sacred source of powers. Unfortunately, for him, what he had done had also freed Godatz from his prison. Deeming Fennel as a suitable host for his nefarious schemes due to the aforementioned Cook Fighter's hidden jealousy towards Cinnamon and his grief towards Ginger's passing, Godatz had grafted himself onto Fennel's soul when the energy entity in question had possessed him. As a result, both Godatz and Fennel had became one. After that, Godatz who is using Fennel's body then proceeded to completely repair the Recipe-Bon so that no one would suspect Fennel's act of destroying the book as well as suppressing Fennel's memories regarding his act of destroying the Recipe-Bon and his meeting with Godatz along with his memories regarding both Godatz and Fennel fusing with each other in order to become one in order for Godatz to maintain the cover that he had started to make for himself ever since that day. Once Godatz had possessed Fennel, the dark energy entity had been whispering into his mind with Fennel mistakenly thinking that all of his actions as "Godatz" were "His ideas" when, in reality, Fennel was nothing more than a "Puppet" to the REAL Godatz's control. In other words, well....The rest is history." What MLPFan053 came up with is VERY cleaver and clearly understood where I was coming from, and I could tell in a sense that he didn't like Fennel's Out of nowhere reveal as Godatz as well, Don't know what @Omniverse-Commander feels about it but it's up to him, But his Explanation here gave me some Inspiration of a Possible Origin for Godatz himself, It is sprinkled and hinted on the Picture itself, But it will be Greatly Expanded on the Storyline that will be the Sequel to to the Story which I will Title Pokemon/Pretty Cure: The CooKingdom Conspiracy. B&B Origins. According to Fennel, Godatz was originally a Cat Energy Fairy who was assigned by CooKing and CooQueen to partner with a Young Ginger, Together they travelled the world, Inspired by the Creations of Various Dishes, He was the one to Create the Recipe-Bon and bound his Power to it, Should a new Dish be invented, Not only will it be recorded into the Book, But also a New Recipepe will be born from it, Godatz was praised by CooKing and CooQueen for his Accomplishment and will put CooKingdom in the Dimensional map, However things started to change, One day, with Godatz looking after the Book, Ginger was Assigned a new Energy Fairy named Kome-Kome the 1st, and travelled the world seeing new found Recipepe's, And thanks to Ginger's own Experiences as training new Cook-Fighters, Kome-Kome the 1st would take up his own Student Energy Fairies in the Responsibilities, However Godatz became Jealous of Kome-Kome the 1st, believeing that Kome-Kome's contributions would overshadow his own, Letting his own pride get to his head, Godatz started to manipulate the CooKingdom Monarchy into believing his Precious Recipe-Bon can be CooKingdom's Greatest power, He sweet-Talked them into Allowing him to perform some new-Ventures with the Recipe-Bon, This would ultimately lead to Godatz's fall from grace, Discovering that When filled with Recipepes, the Recipe-Bon will be filled with many recipes for people to use to make their own cuisines, However as Godatz's greed grew, He discovered that all recipes and dishes will also be stolen, Seeing this, Godatz would see it as something he would use to an Advantage, No longer just seeing it as a Tool for of CooKingdom's Peace, But also as a Potential Weapon of War should CooKingdom Feel threatened, Godatz would eventually show All of his discoveries to CooKing and CooQueen, Despite seeing the Potential of Weaponizing the Recipe-Bon, They do see that Godatz Pride is is Driving him to Competition with Kome-Kome the 1st, and is leading him down a Dark Path, Warning him Not to continue in his Experiments on the Recipe-Bon, But Godatz stubbornly refuses to listen Believing that Anyone Outside of CooKingdom Don't Appreciate what the Recipepe's do for there Food And pins them for Approving of his Experiments on the Recipe-Bon, To keep Godatz from Revealing there involvement, And to Keep Godatz from Starting a Potential War, CooKing and CooQueen Warned Ginger of what Godatz plans to do, But not informing him of Godatz's Experiments of the Recipe-Bon, Confronting Godatz, Ginger and Kome-Kome the 1st try to reason with Godatz to not go through with his plans of Taking Everyones Food away, But Godatz was Too far gone for reason, Due to his Emotions becoming Corrupted by Greed, He created Proto-Ubauzo to battle Ginger where as Godatz himself battled Kome-Kome the 1st, In the fight Godatz ended up unleaching an Attack on Ginger that changed him completely but completely destroys his own Body, Rendering Godatz a Bodyless Energy Entity, CooKing and CooQueen Arrived to Eventually End the Battle by Trapping Godatz inside his own Creation the Recipe-Bon, Imprisoning him in the Last page, Whole Ginger claimed the Recipe-Bon should be Destroyed, CooKing and CooQueen Reassure him that as long as Recipe-Bon makes new pages, The final Page where Godatz is will never be reached, To make sure Ginger and Kome-Kome the 1st never Expose them, Both CooKing and CooQueen Used magics to Erase there memories to the Event. However that wouldn't solve the problem, Over the years, Godatz would not only Feed on the the Negative Emotions of All Cook-Fighters and Recipepe's that pass by the Recipe-Bon, But would have his own Influence within the Recipe-Bon itself, Waiting Patiently till the day he'll be freed, Leading up to his Eventual Escape and Possession of Fennel. Even if Godatz eventually get's Defeated by Delicious Party PreCure and, His Spirit will Ultimately Return to the Recipe-Bon as bit of a Respawn point, for the Next time someone messes with the Recipe-Bon and Get's possessed.

Scene 1:

Godatz escapes his confinement and makes his way towards Boca Raton, Florida, where a TWF tournament is being held.

Scene 2:

A rapid fire series of events where Godatz defeats Queen Nefercreepy, Hometown Huck, The Big Time, Captain Esplanade, The Netherbeast, Mugsy, Yae, Face-Off Phil, Bucks Gazillion, and Danny Kaboom in that order.

Scene 3:

Godatz raises the Championship Trophy for all to see. This is the first time where an independent wrestler wins a TWF championship, the first time the Dexteras lost a title bout since season 3, and the first season where the Dexteras lose a title bout to someone with the aforementioned distinction. Pinky is in the bottom right corner of the scene and is visibly unnerved by Godatz.

Green names ! Magician, Strength, Star, Moon and Sun are just pure image/name association. The World is the end of cycles and brings everything together so Supreme fits. Echo is involved but separate to the rest of the cures, much like The Fool. Death represents transformation and Komugi undergoes the most transformation of all the leaders. Precious is the tower and her old values of parroting her grandmothers sayings are broken down by Godatz (Do not get me started on delipre I love this mess of a show so much and will tell you about how this should have been put together)

Orange names ! Empress = Heart bc Heart is reminiscent of the actual Cure Empress. Emperor = Flora bc royals. Lovers = Peach bc get your happiness and what not. Chariot = Lovely bc representing travel is kinda like what Happiness Charge was doing with the international cures. Wheel of Fortune = Yell bc time travel ????? Justice = Melody bc the wiki says she has a strong sense of justice. Devil = Black bc the Devil represents unbreakable bonds and Black and White got that unbreakable bond rizz (THIS ONE IS TRICKY BECAUSE OF THE OTHER THINGS THE DEVIL CAN REPRESENT ALL OF THESE CHARACTERS ARE MINORS DO NOT APPLY THOSE MEANINGS TO THEM)

Red names ! I ran out of things that really fit nicely so. Cure Grace and Blossom give me smart vibes so give them the cards that represent wisdom. Cure Top is a guy, The Hierophant can represent a man, bada bing bada boom. Cure Whip as Temperance, power of imagination = a flash of inspa~kira~tion ehhhhhh????? Cure Dream and Cure Happy got the short end of the stick as they were the only ones left so just got whatever was left.

Delicious Party Precure Episode 34 Review - Baseball And Oden

I can’t believe a Yui focused episode ACTUALLY focuses on Yui for once! I feel like the ones that focus on her always has her in the backseat to get the character of the day in the spotlight like in Episode 31 where it’s mainly Princess Maira having focus while Yui is in the backseat. Man, I wish there was more actual Yui-focused episodes showcasing how she felt when Yone passed away and how she moved on from it. It’s obvious that Yone played a huge part in her life yet we don’t really see Yui’s inner feelings about it other than nostalgia.

We do get more lore about the elusive yet always present Yone in that she had an old friend named Matasaburo who she taught her oden recipe to. Matasaburo is actually a very important character for the plot as he tells Rosemary that he knows of Ginger, his old master. This shocks him because he never knew Ginger came to Oishina Town. All we know about him is that he wore a cat-like outfit. It’s stated that he passed away…but what if he’s Godatz? Hm…. Not only that, it seems that Takumi’s mother An is aware of Ginger, given her expression. Back in Episode 13, Takumi's flashback with his father Monpei revealed that An knows about CooKingdom.

The episode suddenly gets a baseball sequence in the middle. I do wonder why Precure wants to make baseball episodes. The successor show Hirogaru Sky Precure also had an entire episode dedicated to baseball. Heck, they should make a baseball-themed Precure show if they love baseball that much! Oh, a sports-themed Precure show would be so cool!

Also, Takumi makes an appearance after being absent for two episodes and Black Pepper being MIA for a few. For a 15-year-old kid, Takumi sure is wise for his age. He gives advice to Matasaburo regarding his issues with Kosuke. Though, he does still get flustered when someone brings up his relationship with Yui as typical of a teenage boy in love. As Black Pepper, he does shield Precious from attacks, but Precious mainly resolves everything through brute force and emotions.

I honestly want to learn more about Yone now that this episode talked about her a lot. I wonder what sort of other secrets and anecdotes Yone has. Maybe she was once a Precure? That would be cool! What are your thoughts on this episode?

hello hello i wanted to ask - do you have any references or so for - the delicious party character heights? I know there's a chart for the three og cures, but i am having a hard time comparing them to other characters, especially the villains. And stuff feels very inconsistent, for example with narcistoru compared to amane/gentlu/finale. Or maybe i'm just getting it wrong 🤔. I was just curious if you've thought about this before as well, i hope i'm not bothering you with the question

Oh hi!! Yeah I've been thinking about that too, but so far I couldn't find a proper height reference! However since the Delicious Party Complete Book came out I'm sure that eventually a page of that kind will show up :D I think the intention for relative heights was Amane <Narcistoru<Secretoru<Godatz and Rosemary is around Godatz's height. Black Pepper is at Narcistoru's height with heels so I assume he's around Amane's height. This is all very approximated tho XD

Amane had already come to terms with her past and her time working for the Bundoru Gang. Thanks to her friends, she understood that it was not her fault and there was nothing she could do to change what happened. However, the same cannot be said about Gentlu. She is still trying to find her life's purpose and understand why the Delicious Stone brought her to life, as she wasn't supposed to exist from the beginning.

CooKingdom is secretly investigating this occurrence. Rosemary and Cinnamon are conducting more research on the Delicious Stone and its properties. They don't want Gentlu, or Lavender as she prefers to be called now, to feel burdened by being something they don't fully understand yet. Even Godatz and Narcistoru can't explain the reason the Delicious Stone reacted like that.

With Gentlu no longer a part of the Bundoru Gang, Narcistoru takes over with the mission of capturing Recipepes, but later gets arrested and imprisoned in CooKingdom.

A general of the Bundoru Gang who has an insidious way of speaking.

After Narcistoru is arrested and imprisoned in CooKingdom, Secretoru takes over with the mission of capturing Recipepes.

A robot made by Narcistoru, who is powered by the Delicious Stones.

Spiritoru was originally programmed with Narcistoru's tastes in mind as well as being very kind with cheerleader-like tendencies, but after Secretoru reprogrammed him, Spiritoru became serious and more task-oriented.

I loved this scene so much, how she gave each of them thank yous that seemed so personal to each character.

Kokone was thanked for letting Yui not be alone, when really it was the other way around - Yui helped Kokone out of her loneliness. But at the same time, when Yui was going through hard times later in the show, like when she found out Takumi was Black Pepper, and when she was feeling that Takumi and Kome-Kome getting hurt by Godatz was her fault, Kokone was there to be a supportive friend. Plus as the team's defensive powerhouse, Spicy is always supporting the others in battle.

Amane's is a little less obvious, but it's true that she has gone through a lot. Like Kokone, she was lonely, but her brief time as a villain did impact her a lot too, and it was hard for her to get over that and to feel like she could trust the other girls and they her. As someone who people look up to as the student council president, it's probably hard for her to live up to people's expectations as a civilian too. So I guess this is Yui saying to her that it's ok to thank others, even if it's hard?

With Ran she thanks her for helping her believe in herself. This is interesting because while Ran is clearly not afraid to let her weirdo flag fly, we know from previous eps that Ran has struggled with whether it's ok for her to be that way, or if she should conform and be more "normal." She also had that one episode where she realized the bad guys were using her food influencer posts to find foods to target, and she felt responsible and was going to stop being a food influencer as a result. The other girls convinced her otherwise, and she found a way around things by promoting take-out instead, which would in turn lead to fewer people at restaurants getting affected by Gentlu's attacks. Then there was that episode where Ran met one of her food influencer idols and was discouraged when she couldn't present her family's restaurant well on TV, and that she'd never be as successful as her idol. Then she found out that her idol didn't become successful overnight and put in a lot of work to get where she is now - and still does a lot of work now, as her notebook shows. This encouraged Ran that, if she works hard, she too can be successful. In other words, Ran's arc has been about accepting herself for who she is.

Yui, on the other hand, is seemingly strong on the outside, but when times get tough, she's shown to not be as strong as she seems. I've heard her described as kind of one-dimensional and not a very developed character (an issue that has plagued other pink Cures too, apparently). And she does come across as not very complex, especially with how her quoting her grandmother's advice and always being hungry are so often played as defining aspects of her character (and running gags at that). But I think she does ultimately develop into her own person. The episode where giving her grandma's advice actually doesn't work is particularly eye-opening for her I think.

And then she thanks Cinnamon and Mari for allowing her to "walk with a smile" - probably for their encouragement along the way, especially toward the end of the series when she feels bad about hurting Takumi and Kome-Kome after trying to stop Takumi from revenge-rushing Godatz. Mari has been pretty encouraging the whole time too, to all the girls.

She thanks Black Pepper for giving her courage, which is definitely fitting for Takumi. Even before he secretly became a Cook Fighter, he was a supportive friend to Yui, even if he mostly showed it in a kind of tsundere sort of way. Heck, he became Black Pepper in the first place to protect Yui because he thought Mari was forcing her to fight these monsters. He had to fight for his place on the team - first the girls and Mari didn't quite trust him (kinda like Tuxedo Kamen in Sailor Moon, which he's pretty clearly an expy of), then Narcistoru made fun of him and made him doubt himself, and then Finale joining the team made his main goal of protecting Yui kind of irrelevant (the clearest evidence of this is when he tries to save Precious one time, only for Finale to beat him to it, carrying Precious in a bridal carry no less). Then his dad came back and told Takumi to leave the fighting to him and Mari, since they have proper training. Takumi had to then decide what he really wanted to do, and he chose to continue fighting, even risking his identity being revealed to the girls (his dad and Mari knew at this point). He finally manages to come into his own, and in the end he saves the girls not by fighting, but by using the healing power he inherited from his dad. (This made DeliPre probably the first PreCure series where the girls don't get a Heroic Second Wind in the final battle through just their own willpower or some 11th hour Deus Ex Machina thing like the Miracle Lights).

Of course the person who gets the most thanks here is Ginger, whose foresight and willingness to do risky magic allowed for him not only to help the Cures here, but to literally keep Godatz from starving the entire planet to death. (And he did it with maneki neko statues no less).

This was just such a great scene.

Delicious Party Precure Episode 26 Review - Green Pepper Hatedom

Food trauma is actually a thing! I had suffered from it a long time ago, so I understand what Kokone and Kome-Kome were going through! However, what I was afraid of eating wasn’t green peppers, but bivalves! If you don’t know what bivalves are, they’re shellfish that have shells that open and close like a case. Some examples that humans eat are clams, oysters, mussels, and scallops. I had a huge food trauma relating to them when I was younger. My family went to this seafood restaurant and it seemed like the seafood quality was really terrible that it left my brother and me sick; my brother had it worse than me. Because of that, we both developed an aversion to seafood for a long time. For me, I was able to overcome my trauma of bivalves but I still can’t eat oysters well. My brother is still aversive towards seafood, but he has improved as he’s able to eat fish and oysters. Because of food trauma, I did like the message this episode had. Since this is a show for kids, it’s a nice message to not be afraid of trying new things and to overcome your fears. It’s a bit of a powerful message in a way.

I also found this episode really funny in the sense that everyone was so silly from facial expressions to behavior. I think the flashback scene of Kome-Kome eating a green pepper for the first time and her expression was the funniest thing I’ve seen from this show yet. Everyone was so silly. I also liked the part where the Precures and Black Pepper were running away from the rolling Ubauzo.

The episode was also adorable in the sense that the Precures and Takumi were working hard to help Kokone and Kome-Kome overcome their fear of green peppers. I also loved the little symbolism of little Kokone and Kome-Kome trying to fight off the Green Pepper King. That was super cute! I also love how Takumi wanted to help them overcome their fear by buying more peppers in a variety of colors. He’s a real sweetheart. The little anecdote of how he overcame his dislike of green peppers because of Monpei was so cute. Monpei is such a good dad.

The MVP of this episode is definitely Todoroki. He’s seriously great. I liked him back in Episode 15 where he helped Kokone with food troubles and now his wisdom comes into play here again. Seriously, Todoroki needs to appear more!

Spiritoru is quite a funny villain. He speaks to Godatz so casually that it made Secretoru angry because of the lack of respect. It’s also hilarious how he has a terrible sense of direction. He’s basically the reason why Takumi was able to reach the Precures because he was chasing after it. He also doesn’t understand humans, but hopefully that could be an arc.

Though, if there is something I don’t like about this episode, it’s how the stuff about CooKingdom always gets brushed to the side, as if it’s deliberate in that the writers don’t want to give out too much, but how they transition it is so bad. All we get is that Spiritoru is powered by a Special Delicious Stone and that these stones are only what Cook Fighters can wield. Mari and Fennel have Special Delicious Stones and they’re the only ones who wield them. Apparently, the creator of these stones died many years ago. Hm… maybe Fennel is a fake out villain and the real one is the Cook Fighter who’s assumed dead? To be honest, I really like the lore, but it’s never well utilized—a shame, really…

Anyways, I did like the return of Spicy’s solo attack, but it was also weird because they used Triple Mix as a way to destroy powerful Ubauzos, so why is her solo attack able to purify a Motto Ubauzo now? Precious didn’t get a solo purification last episode… well, at least like Precious, Spicy got a new move in Crusty Bread Barrier. Next week seems to focus on Ran, so will Ran get a power-up? The second one hour special I'm doing this week. I know, I know, you're all just as excited as I am! Delicious Party PreCure! I do believe it's time for our final dish of the night! And boy oh boy, is it a big one!

A very solid season of PreCure, I say as a... relative newcomer to the series. Certainly a delectable time all around. Love our heroines like the little sisters I never had, the villains were all interesting, the side characters are fun and likeable, the music's very lovely, the world we got to see is super nice... I can say that I look forward to seeing it all conclude.

Spoilers, I guess...

Oh boy, it's been a few years since I've done one of these. Let's play catch up.

There was no Christmas episode in 2020, because the COVID-19 pandemic wrecked the production and broadcast schedules, and delayed Healin' Good by a number of weeks (which led to my July On Christmas post for beach episodes, incidentally), causing any potentially planned Christmas episodes to be cancelled. In fact, the episode that aired just before christmas was about fall.

Curiously, despite Tropical-Rouge appearing to air on its intended schedule with no obvious delays or interruptions, it also did not receive a Christmas episode, instead spending most of its December episodes setting up the finale of the series. That brings us to...

Delicious Party♡Precure 41 - "Merry Christmas! Something Fennel Holds Dear" Original air date: 25 December 2022

A lot happens in this episode, but very little of it is really related to the holiday. Rosemary, along with Takumi, and his father Cinnamon go on a macguffin quest that leads to a big villain reveal at the end. Yui goes ice skating with her father, where she runs into Fennel, who they invite to the Nagomi Diner Christmas Party. True to the spirit of the series there is lots of delicious looking food at this party, and the centerpiece is an enormous tuna that gets served raw. When Secretoru steals an onigiri recipipi, the team engages her. Despite the girls saving the day, Fennel shows up and reveals that he is Godatz, leader of the Bundoru Gang, and he now has everything he needs to make a Special Delicioustone for EVIL. This is a return to the tradition of setting up the final boss in the Christmas episode, and I'm here for it.

Hirogaru Sky! Precure 46 - "The Heroes' Christmas" Original air date: 24 December 2023

Another episode building up to the endgame, this one reminds me of Suite almost where they are very aware that the final confrontation with their enemy is coming. Sora and friends are going to Skyland over the holiday to protect their citizens from an attack by Empress Undergu and the Undergu Empire. The beginning shows everyone in good spirits in the human world, and then in Skyland they get roped into preparing for a holiday called Strichmas, because there's a running joke in this show that the names of things in Skyland are just syllable-swapped. They end up running into Tasan (not-Santa), who is an owl in this world, and that catches them all off guard. They end up helping Tasan on his nightly deliveries for Strichmas and it's all very cute. There's no villain plot in this episode, but the heroes transform into Precure to save Tasan from..... small twisters. There is a lovely scene at the end where Sora and Mashiro exchange gifts with each other, and they both end up getting each other the same notebook from Pretty Holic (buy our stuff). The romantic undertones are not subtle. There's also a dramatic hook for the last arc of the show, per tradition.

Wonderful Precure! 46 - "Meeeerry Christmas!" Original air date: 22 December 2024

This episode really surprised me. It's a mix of several different elements but it centers around everyone's favorite tsundere cat, Yuki. She remembers spending a Christmas alone in the cold snow as a kitten, before Mayu rescued her, and keeps coming back to this memory. They go to a Christmas Party in Niko Garden, where Satoru and Iroha end up giving each other presents as a couple: she gives him a scarf she made, and he gives her a necklace shaped like Komugi. Yuki helps some of the Kirarin Animals fix some cookies they broke, with her signature "it can't be helped", and they say she's so friendly and helpful. A flustered Yuki makes a hasty escape, saying she has another party to go to, and Komugi follows her. It turns out she's meeting with the group of cats from earlier in the show, and she even persuades them to let Komugi join the snuggle party. Later, as she's passing by Pretty Holic, she sees Zakuro looking wistfully at the Christmas Tree in front, wanting to tell Gaou about her feelings, and Yuki tries to encourage her, even though they're enemies. The wolf girl is clearly struggling to reconcile her conflictied emotions, and when Iroha, Mayu, Niko, Meymey, Satoru, and Daifuku show up in Santa's sleigh (yes it really is that sudden), she creates a Gaogaon from the reindeer. The cures all ward it off and try to appeal to her, to no avail YET, and she retreats to Gaou's side once again. Then Niko reveals that she knows Santa and loans him the flying reindeer, because of course, and they go out delivering presents. Following Go Princess almost a decade ago, this is the second Christmas episode to focus on a blue cure, instead of sharing the love across the full team, or the leader.

And with that we are all caught up on Christmas episodes once again. No new trends are apparent in this run of episodes, despite this being Precure's boundary pushing era. The shows are starting to lean back into "Santa is real" territory, but also still having the Precures play as Santa. For Christmas romances, there's the heavily implied relationship between Sora and Mashiro, and the established relationship between Iroha and Satoru, which are notable but do not take the focus of their episodes.

There were no specifically Christmas cakes on display, but there was a cake in HiroSky, in Delicious Party they had a feast of tuna sashimi and so, so much other stuff, and there was a lovely food spread in Wonderful, so here they are.
