^ let's just hope the showrunners don't decide to change this book bit, they've changed much already....
Whatever her powers, it would seem Daemon Targaryen was immune to them. â Fire and Blood
...this one would be pretty damn telling, Daemon loved Rhaenyra and wasn't interested in others despite the dubious rumours.. He lived and died for Rhaenyra......
i saw the audition tape too. alysâ âseducingâ daemon also happens in the book.
Whatever her powers, it would seem Daemon Targaryen was immune to them. â Fire and Blood
i love that alys rivers, called the âwitch queen,â tries to flirt and manipulate daemon only for her to fail, and do the same thing on aemond and it worked because heâs a loser. đ
đ𤣠Ahem, I love that. That's funny. Nothing for us to fear (at least in this way adfhgj)

truly on board the armand meta train this evening but you mentioned in a post earlier about how the amc iwtv fandom reacted to the depictions of SA with Claudia in s1 and how it was responded to with sensitivity, and then in s2 this does continue- but only for her. The amount of people i have seen on various platforms (mostly show only fans) believing that Armand was lying about his own sexual trauma and repeated assaults for his own gain (again seemingly for some fanâs need to have a clear villian)
It just feels really horrible that a fandom that reacted in such a way to this sort of material in the first season concerning a female character who was underage (if only physically), then goes on to deny, belittle, and even romanticise and sexualise the same sort of trauma that happened to a male character who was also underage (and also mentally as well as physically.) Especially because Claudiaâs trauma was only added by the show, which makes it no less valid- but pointing out it was not in the books like Armandâs explicitly was.
I think what im trying to say with that is that Armandâs sexual trauma was already explicitly canon and adapted from that book canon to the show, whereas Claudiaâs was a show invention yet is treated a lot more sensitivity and is being believed more (again, i think this is due to show watchers seeing anything Claudia says as objective truth as it is more through the eyes of Daniel- who is of course always completely right and fair (/s) compared to Louis and Armand who of course must always be twisting the truth in some way from their own gain)
Anyway i have gone on a bit but I would love to hear your thoughts on the showâs audience reaction to Claudiaâs SA and trauma in comparison to Armandâs
ooo yes I love this question, Iâve thought about it before. the double standard there is honestly pretty upsetting to me. I think part of why the fandom treats Claudiaâs sa differently than Armandâs is definitely partly bcus of what u said, how Armand is assumed to be never truthful and Claudia is considered always truthful, which is applied by some ppl to everything they say and do with no nuance. I think a part of it is also a broader fandom issue where male sexual assault isnât considered as serious/valid/wrong etc as female sexual assault is. so youâll find people in fandom spaces who believe and discuss how sexual violence against women is a sensitive subject that needs to be treated with care, then go and treat male sexual assault in fiction like itâs sexy, or funny, or not so serious. because of the bias of course that exists with real sexual violence where male victims r often less likely to be treated seriously, believed, etc then female victims. when u think about it, considering the pretty prevalent socially ingrained belief that men canât be sexually assaulted or that sexual assault against men isnât as serious as sexual assault against women combined with a chunk of the fandomâs tendency to interpret everything Armand does or says as malicious or deceitful, it makes sense that this would be a prevalent take, but god itâs so disgusting, I hate it.
Armandâs history of childhood sexual abuse is extremely important to his character, as u said it was in the books, and the reason it was adapted so faithfully is because u *can not* remove it or change it without completely rewriting Armand and changing a lot of his fundamental characteristics. So frankly, itâs so fucking stupid to see people saying heâs lying, as if that would not be a character assignation so drastic it would be absurdly stupid for any writer to come up with. It would be like, idk, saying Claudia lied about being turned into a vampire when she was a child and that she actually was over 18, or some shit like that. Like genuinely be so for real đ. And I mentioned it in another ask but I canât say it enough, itâs repulsive to insist that a fictional sexual abuse victim whoâs history of sexual violence is actively incredibly impactful to everything he does is âlying for sympathyâ. Like yâall need to realize that u r making disgusting implications about real victims of assault and u sound like actual freaks. Also u sound dumb lol, like USE UR BRAIN, how would Armand be lying or using his trauma to manipulate when he is clearly actively acting due to his trauma đ
So many people who were talking about how sexual violence against women is super sensitive and the show needs to treat it with more care, making sure to add tws on their posts and to make respectful disclaimers and such, are now taking another character who was sexually assaulted and saying he is lying or manipulating or their making jokes about it because they see him as some villain only worthy of ridicule and nothing else. Itâs gross!!
I think another part of it is probably how a lot of people only see victimhood as real or valid if they perceive the victim as none-complexly âgood.â Since Claudia is perceived by the fandom as always in the right she is a real victim who deserves respect, and since Armand is the villain whoâs in the wrong he is faking it or smth. In reality people who have experienced trauma, especially childhood sexual abuse as intense and horrible as what Armand went through, are very flawed!! And having flaws or being a bad person, especially when said flaws r very tied to the trauma itself, does not make someone in any way less of a victim!!
Armand was taught to believe that he is an actual object, he grew up in a dog eat dog world where there r men with power who use weaker people to stay in control and there are slaves who the men use for whatever they please, and he internalized that this is how he will always has to live bcus this is how the world works. Assad zaman literally said Armand doesnât know what love is bcus heâs never experienced it đ. Armand models every relationship he has after his relationship with Marius, who literally raped and abused him as a child, because he was the first person who ever loved him đ and armand is always chasing love because he has never truly felt it and doesnât know why he feels so empty. Marius taught Armand that love is using someone for their body and hitting them when they disobey u. Of course heâs fucked up! Of course he sees his relationship with Louis as a transactional power grab where heâs either the master or the slave before he sees it as loyalty and trust and companionship, of course he betrays him âźď¸. And like đ everything wrong with Armand and all of the fucked up shit he does can be tied to his trauma . Come oooonnn đđ he is not lying đ heâs not trying to manipulate Louis or âgain sympathyâ, Jesus Christ.
the petty, book purist part of me is so annoyed that a somewhat irresponsible rape plot line that was added without as much care as it should have been, especially considering it wasnât necessary to the character or the story and wasnât in the books, is being treated with more validity and sympathy and respect then a male characters childhood sexual trauma that has shaped every aspect of how he functions and behaves. And thatâs petty đ but like, I canât say Iâm wrong for being off put. This is genuinely mf gross.
thank uuuu for the ask u r literally the best ahhhh!!! I hope this was interesting, Iâm a lil brain fried rn lol

Hi, love your blog.
I know you probably talked about this, but due to the new trailer and all the theories about s2, I've recently rewatched s1 and my God, I can't stand Viserys. Like, the first time my reaction was mostly "the actor is pretty good", "poor man", "well, he is in the wrong here but he suffers so much so maybe we should go easy on him", etc. but on every rewatch you just can't fail to see how terrible this character actually is . The annoying thing is that it's obvious that the writers went for the "a good man but a bad King" interpretation of him and they succeeded with a big part of the fandom (mostly TB). The problem is, however, that I can't see where is "a good man" part. Maybe for the Westerosi standards which are quite low, but even then, the mistakes he consciously made and did nothing to fix outshadow everything good he might have had in his defense. He basically left his own children to tore each other apart and still was presented to us as a noble suffering king who just wanted everyone to get along. Like, seriously? The way he "handled" the Driftmark incident and how he was ready to leave his deathbed just act in favour of his "only child" (the scene was beautiful though) made me so angry. Idk, to be so willingly obtuse and cause directly and indirectly such a harm to your own family can only do a man who is stupid or simply not so good and kind. And I don't think Viserys was stupid at all.
Sorry for the rant :)
Hi! Thank you! And - oh, I hate Viserys.
Like, I don't like Rhaenyra, I don't like Daemon - to be honest, I don't like anyone from TB, but Viserys is solely to blame for this whole nightmare - so he's also to blame for what happened to my favorite characters and that's where I start having problems with him.
Viserys was weak. He drowned in self-pity, guilt, and let what happened happen. He tried to be a good man - and ended up being a bad king who failed the Seven Kingdoms. He wanted to be a good father - but for some reason only for Rhaenyra, and "being a good father" for him meant not raising her properly, but indulging her.
Making Rhaenyra his heir, he married a second time and had three more sons, thus personally preparing the ideal situation for the future civil war. At the same time, he could have prevented it. He could have married Aegon and Rhaenyra, but he didn't do this - again, because he was weak and didn't want to put his daughter in an uncomfortable situation. All the time since Aegon was born, he simply ignored all problems and conflicts. His bias towards Rhaenyra, his political illiteracy and weak character led to the Dance of the Dragons and for this I deeply despise him.

Since you recently finished watching it, how would you improve class of titans?
WELL I think the show suffered really badly from having to stick to the status quo. Things couldn't significantly or noticably change til the end of the series which really doesn't work for a show like this - like, I'm still confused about what happened with Cronus in the middle of season 2. They captured him but then no they didn't and he's out? I felt like I'd missed an episode or two somewhere lol
So overall writing a coherent story for the show to follow would've been nice. Also more consistency on how the Gods are portrayed. I liked Theresa's anger in the finale but it came out of nowhere, it would've been really easy to build up to it. Everytime they have to fight a gods battle because of a terrible thing the gods did in the past, they should be upset about it, y'know? Who wants to fight someone else's battles.
Also I love that they had fun with the gods but I'm disappointed that they gave Zeus and Hera a cutesy romantic moment near the end. In the Christmas ep maybe? Anyway Hera should hate his cheating ass it's funnier for me
Cronus is a fun villain but what made me like him so much at the beginning was that he was charming and polite lol later on in the show he got meaner and maybe that's intentional but it just felt like they lost track of his personality
(which reminds me - the ep where everyone except Neil got amnesia? Probably the best ep of S2. I would've made that a double ep and continued the amnesia shenanigans for an excessively long time)
I would also redesign a lot of characters. Whoever did the character designs for this show seems to think all the Greek gods and their descendents have red hair. Like. There's less than 10 dark haired characters in the show, and I'm including every side character. That's stupid. The obsession with making everyone redheads or blondes is annoying.
Romance-wise, I think Jay and Theresa are fine but they could've had some more fun stories. I also sometimes felt like they were already dating and sometimes it seemed like she just had a one sided crush on him?
Archie and Atlanta were a nightmare ship for me. Everything I hate in a ship thrown together into a ball of bad writing. In the first ep where they talk about his crush, I 100% thought it was gonna stay one sided and Atlanta would be Without A Man since that's how shows portrayed lesbians back then lol (one of the characters said something like 'i don't think any guy has a chance with Atlanta' so I was hoping it'd be like the lesbian from Fred's Head) but noooo. Goddddddd they were so painful to watch. I would've gotten rid of that 'romance' and let Atlanta be gay (also Neil, though based on his midas touch ep I think it's possible that the writers were headed that way).
Archie as a whole needed an attitude adjustment. At first he was interesting and then they just had him get in fights with everyone on the team. Like...why is he in conflict with every single character? Maybe there should be an ep exploring his anger issues instead of making fun of his fear of water all the time. I think he suffered from Status Quo stuff cuz he could've been an interesting character. Nothing wrong with the angry guy who doesnât trust anyone but his characterization was so inconsistent it was hard to keep up
That being said, a lot of the characters were inconsistent. Neil and Jay were the most consistent (except for Neil randomly bullying Odie in that S2 ep with the sphinx, i donât remember Neil being a huge awful bully in any other ep?) but everyone else would occasionally just be all over the place. I think this is definitely due to the Status Quo problem...most of the problems in the show can be tied to the inability to develop your characters properly.Â
Also back to character designs: there's no reason why Odie had to be the only character of color in the main cast. We're going back thousands of years and you're telling me only one of these kids ancestors ever had a baby with someone who wasn't white? Bad. Dumb. Also it's lame that none of the kids were Greek immigrants imo I know Jays mom is but why couldn't Jay be an immigrant too? Give him a lil accent and have him be fluent in Greek. Obv itâs not necessary but I think it would've been nice.
Okay I'm getting off track but that covers a lot of stuff I'd change. I really did enjoy S1 of the show and I felt like it had a lot of promise but then it just fell off the wagon. S2 had a lot of episodes that I struggled to get through đ
Oh also Cassie! I would've introduced her earlier and had her be recurring cuz she could've been fun
#class of the titans#anon asks#carro answers#i noticed that archie/atlanta seems to be the most popular ship and im used to that#sorry to any fans of it that followed me for cott stuff but you will literally never see it here

Behind The Scenes VideoÂ
youtube
Ignore the fact that I accidentally watermarked it with the number 519...Â
The Case & Deckerstar
Now we can start with the case of the week.
The murder happens at Golf n Stuff which is rather popular due to the scenes that were shot there for The Karate Kid. Rafferty was actually giddy over that.
So we have a murder. After over 70 episodes we know that the case of the week is somehow connected to the main plot and that it leads to a resolving of Luciferâs issues or at least a small or big breakthrough.
The victim in this case was burned to death or at least he was⌠charred. A bit like how Mum âenlightenedâ Jared in 2x17 but worse.
(In order to make sure most bts are included I have put them in the same file in their original resolution and you need to open the image and zoom. You can do it from your PC, MAC or mobile)
The mini golf has several fun statues like knights and pirates but what was not supposed to be there was the figure at the hole where nearby the victim was found. To be more You might have guessed it has many teeth by the photo and the answer is, itâs a reddish dragon head.
Back in December I came across the props building it and I thought it was cool but I wasnât aware it was for Lucifer as the account is not affiliated with our crew or production. So imagine my surprise when a friend told me about what she had seen on the lot and going through the archived bts I found the victim photo as well.
You may have noticed it but in two particular episodes more dragons made their appearance. First it was at the second showrunnerâs office in 503. There we see a dragon impelled by a sword, it seemed really out of place but I then correlated it with Baphamentâs blade which is a representation of Azraelâs blade.
Later on I saw something else. In 508 Peteâs apartment had shelves dedicated to dragon figures as well as some knights. All along I was wondering can I even meta about that? What can it symbolise if it means anything at all? For some reason all I could think was the movie âDragonheartâ.
But letâs assume they have laid some hints, so far we have seen that they go very basic on bible and comic material so itâs funny how dragon-like Lucifer was presented in Series 3 of the black label of DC/ vertigo. But there are also more tidbits.
Now in 1x12 you all remember the Angel who was defeating a very Lucifer-looking Satan?
That was a prop. But it is derived by the work of Guido Reni âMichael and Satanâ (1636) Who was in turn influenced by Raphaelâs painting âSt. Michael Vanquishing Satanâ (1518) and if we go to Raphaelâs early works... St. Michael (1504-1505)
Anyways!
The investigation of this âweekâsâ case has its usual suspect chase which leads us to an arcade where we can spot some members of the crew doing rounds with the go-carts on that location. What I do know is that we are looking for someone young as far as guest posts go but other than that not much is known. The case seems to be progressing slowly but at some point the murderer appears to want to skip town so the leads bring us to L.A.âs train Union Station.
We also have scenes at the precinct during the case as we have seen from Aimeeâs bts but not much is known there.Â
Now the suspect might be played by the elusive guest of this episode John Clover whose appearance was posted on Reddit and had sparked the first speculations over the title of the episode.
We should now wonder whether the theme of this episodeâs case which takes us to gaming areas has anything to do with how Lucifer views his Fatherâs appearance in the mid-season finale and whether it will provide him with a resolution to not act in a rush way. The same after all happened with Mum.
Do not forget that Lucifer in Season 2 and especially at the beginning with Mum and when he thought Earl Johnson was his Father, Luciferâs plans changed as his vengeance turned to a slow paced questioning over why their relationship deteriorated.Â
For an Angel who was âforcedâ - not yet clarified so letâs not take that for granted- to punish the guilty Lucifer seems to be more merciful, understanding and open to explanations in the long run especially with the people who wronged him. Amenadiel, Michael, Uriel, Azrael, Mum, and Earl âGodâ Johnson.
As Amenadiel said in the Pilot Lucifer away from Hell showed restrain and mercy⌠Perhaps it is true that we cannot escape from what we truly are. In any case thatâs meta talk!
Back to the Union Station.Â
In the train station we have a bts where we can see Chloe and Lucifer chasing the suspect and from the photos and videos outside of it we can safely say they are successful on apprehending the murderer.
Now a funny incident was that during the shooting the area was closed to the actual travelers but somehow a Japanese tourist ended up sitting where the background actors were. No idea if it was her Pizza or it was given by the craft service but the girl was obviously bewildered on what was happening. Itâs the little absurdities of life I guessâŚ
It seems though as a lighthearted episode at first...
Do not be mistaken, the writers, cast and showrunners have revealed that in S5P2 we enter the emotional and equally dark (In P1 I missed the darkness aside from Pete of course) part of this season. It means that by the end of 5x09 as we roll on the last minutes of this episode, Lucifer is heavily conflicted and a resolution is needed, one that seems to be somewhat provided.
Since P1 I thought it would be weird to have Deckerstar break up for effect, in order to break us, especially since S5 was supposed to be the last season and S6 is effectively from what they imply (again cast and showrunners) an epilogue. So do not expect Deckerstar to break up but on the contrary as we saw Lucifer and Chloe in 507 they pull each other back up.Â
It is why Iâm wondering what will be unraveled after the arrest of 5x09âs murderer.
The end of the episode takes us at night to L.A.âs Grand Park. The Grand Park is across the City Hall by the way, and for the Christmas season it was decorated with a Christmas tree made out of light bulbs.
In the bts the prominent colour of that tree is deep lilac. Thatâs where our next Deckerstar moment will unravel. We should also be ready for the Lucifer Universe to acknowledge yet another holiday of the human world, Christmas!
A tiny break here but you should remember that on each side of the elevator we have two bronze plates depicting the transfer of Christ after he was taken down dead from the Cross. So in the most discrete of ways Luciferâs Universe has acknowledged Christ and perhaps it was because before the Sumerian text set Amenadiel as the favourite son, in Season 1 and for the majority of S2 we knew Lucifer as the favourite one.
On the cross Christ (no I didnât write Lucifer at first :P) according to the scripts in a moment of lapsed faith âFather, Father why do you abandon me?â. In a way we might meta that for 516 but also for what Lucifer has experienced so far and has so eloquently expressed in 3x11 and in 1x09. Â
But back to the Deckerstar momentâŚ
It takes place on the âbalconyâ above the fountain as the purple Christmas tree is behind them. The setting happens at night and provides the place for our characters to talk, to open up and perhaps even express certain fears but also be urged to take advantage of the current circumstances.
From my perspective is the scene of a couple that talks a difficult matter but at the end of that talk they know each has the otherâs back so they can step forward, take that chance and their partner will always be there to catch them if they fall. It is also how we will experience Lucifer finally opening up without Linda probing him. But whatever comes forward also gives space to truths and a realisation which will break our Devil as we have seen from the bts of the next episodes.
We might even have an understanding why âI love youâsâ are difficult for Lucifer and for Chloe to also realise that. We might even get Lucifer to say it. Here is to hopingâŚ
On a final note. Maze in this episode seems to have gone MIA but many times we do not see the bts of every scene so all we have is Lesley-Annâs bts from her trailer during that time. Also do not forget how things ended in 508. Maze did betray Lucifer and with God on Earth...Â
The Dinner
This episode is expected to open back to the precinct. The reason is because it is a mid-season finale which means that the in between scenes are not implied but also because of some spoilers we had back in December.
As you remember the actress who played officer Cacuzza had posted on Twitter that she and Lauren were in a âvery smallâ room which had just been painted. That room we can safely say is the âevidence roomâ and that Cacuzza managed finally to find a way to close the surveillance in order to take a nap.
Now do remember that back in S4 Cacuzza was also the officer who let Lucifer âsampleâ the drug busts⌠Iâm not sure if that will come back somehow but we do know that Cacuzza will appear later this season, whether alive or not is yet to be seen.
What we do know is from the clues that were given by the actress.
1) She will be in the same room as Chloe meaning we will revisit the evidence room once Dad arrives and perhaps it will be a comic moment? Perhaps a random human will figure things out? But what was interesting is that according to the bts photo we see the actress and Lauren in their own clothes while Dennis is in his âDad/Godâ clothes.
2) Both Chloe and Officer Cacuzza were supposed to act distressed and shaken. If we take the âI love youâ element from that scene for Chloe letâs remember that the evidence is suddenly a bit of a mess. A glass has broken, the sound and effect will be heard once the time has started running again and they are two cops in a room with no idea of what is happening outside. So perhaps the shaken and distressed effect comes before they open the door (or walk out) and are sure there is no imminent threat.
3) In my opinion in this episode Cacuzza has some lines no matter how brief they might be.
Now the question here is how to proceed.
We obviously have a Family Dinner from which only two bts exist.Â
If we assume that the Family Dinner is arranged after the brothers have hid their wings and then Dad has met Linda then the dinner is set up by a very flabbergasted Linda.
youtube
I do expect Linda to bow by the way and for this dinner to bring some elements from 1x10 Pops. For this speculation Iâll include the video of the scene from that episode and Iâll try to tie them up with 5x09.
All the episodes in P2 are meant to do a full circle and the writers have based most of their storytelling on the events of S1 and S2.
So first the spoilers of what we know from 5x09 and then the ties we may find with 1x10 and some more past episodes. Â
The 11 minutes are quite long but is it really all things concerning?Â
Henderson tweeted that there will be 5 actors but as we know know Ellis plays two characters which is why the dinner scene may have taken three days to shoot so we should count six people at the Dinner Table.
The location will be (most probably) at Lindaâs house as we have seen from a bts that her main table is full of different varieties of fruits and food in an attempt to recreate an Olympian affluent meal. For Linda is only normal to be out of her element and try to impress God. So far she has been almost killed by his ex, has a child that can be snatched away to the Silver City if she is not deemed worthy perhaps or even because of Charlieâs half genetic code.
Remember there was a stand in actor for MichaelÂ
The problem Linda also faces is that she has supported Lucifer. Yes, he is her friend but how will God react to that? Having a human siding with His rebellious son? Linda as it has been written knows how far pissed off celestials can go and Iâm sure she remembers Luciferâs agony and fear over his Father where Chloe was concerned. So she tries, really tries to present a wonderful setting for the grandfather of her child.
So we do have Linda in the mix. Obviously God, Amenadiel, Lucifer and Michael. That makes us five characters and four actors. Little Charlie also makes an appearance as far as Iâm aware as the twin babies were on set and that also contributes on why the scene took so long to be shot. However the babies do not count as the sixth character. Chloe though does.
In short we have:
Linda
God/Dad
Amenadiel
Lucifer
Michael
Chloe
and
Charlie
Another thing we should take into account for this scene is Raffertyâs posted script page of the midseason finale.
While Amenadiel and Lucifer appear shocked and in awe, Michael seems rather pleased. I mean he literally âGrins with excitementâ.
Amenadiel in 5x03 said that the only one who was talking to the throne meanwhile Henderson as far as I remember in one of the post P1 interviews, revealed that God and Michael have a relationship that Lucifer wishes he had with Him. D.B on one of the virtual cons (or ET interview. I have issues with keeping track of them now) have said that the scene at the family dinner would be gut wrenching and absolutely fall down hilariousâ.
So in this dinner we will get to know our characters more and as Ildy and Henderson have said Lucifer will go back being a 14 year old at the Thanksgiving table. That perhaps is the reason why the script episodes 510 and 511were reversed. The last time that had happened was in S1 in order for Luciferâs vulnerability to not come too soon in the season. In the case of these two episodes I believe it has to do with Luciferâs emotional state but also the constant collisions he will have with his father in the Family Dinner but also during the Musical episode.
Another aspect to consider is that if 5x09 reminds us a lot of 1x10 -Pops right now and 5x10 the Musical episode is directly influenced by 2x16 - God Johnson.
The next section will now be dedicated to a quick recap of 1x10 - Pops and the possible connection to Michael and his story.
Michael in 5x09 teases Chloe as she is kept captive that there is a bigger plan and âSpoiler Alertâ it will be EPIC. That can be left alone as a promise to see more of that plan in S5P2 but before we go forward we should also go back in 2x04 - Weaponiser.
Do you see the parallel? How far Urielâs view of the âPatternsâ could go was always a meta I couldnât crack. Sure Michael hinted as per one Anon hinted on Tumblr that Michael might have been the one to urge Uriel on Earth to kill Mum and hopefully Lucifer as well. It is also perhaps why we were reminded of Azraelâs Blade in 5x03 - Diablo with Baphamentâs blade, the only blade that could kill the Devil. Perhaps that was Michaelâs plan back then but it didnât work out.
But is Michael the big villain? According to the showrunners no. There are more things happening but Michael has a reasoning, has a story, one that explains his deformity and is the hero of his own story as all  the other season âvillainsâ so far were. Mum, Amenadiel, Malcolm, Kinley, even Cain.
What the Interviews say about Michael:
Beginning with the parallel between the dinner we had in 1x10âs dinner and plot, and in what may have in episode 5x09 I would like to remind you-Â
- at this point I have censored some spoilers, not speculations, spoilers for episodes of P2 that will not be added in the S&S -
Iâll return to this topic and explore it thoroughly as the S&S are written but for now remember that 1x10 might tell us more than what we think right now and it might take us as a point of reference even up to 5x16.
Between 1x10 and 5x09 we can also wonder what are Godâs intentions, can we attribute them all to Michaelâs manipulation or it goes beyond that because the showrunners have promised us an emotional P2. I do believe issues are addressed and Lucifer will have to come face to face with some hard truths without that meaning that Dad was always right.
In the Pilot - wait.. Pilot? Yes, 5x09 is an episode that slowly builds us to the very end. There are spoilers and references that need to be addressed from past and future episodes before and after 5x09.
We need to address that in the Pilot, Lucifer told Delilah the very truth he uttered to Linda where he was concerned in S4 (4x08). God has nothing to do with your mess. Like Delilah, Lucifer was putting the blame to others, circumstances and even questioned God. He was wasting his eternal life and his talent, which he eventually found in crime solving.
youtube
On cue we get to the scene with Chloe asking God what she is doing to a bar with Lucifer. And what follows is Chloe telling Lucifer how she saw things differently from everyone and she paid for it. That story for me at least rings a bell.
youtube
We still do not know why Lucifer was cast out, the actual reason. No matter the sexescapeding with Eve or the rebellion what was the core of all that acting out as Linda called it in season 2? Whatever it was if we go back to 3x11 we will see that Chloe in the Pilot is basically Lucifer in 3x11.
They feel alone, misjudged and while Chloe tries to move on and later in S1 finds what actually happened, in Luciferâs case he gives up on waiting for forgiveness from his Father until Michael comes, and tells him that even his Fall was a manipulation.
In Pops Lucifer asked something very interesting what did the sous chef wanted? And the answer was to surpass Pops. I do wonder if thatâs what Lucifer wanted in a way and of course Michael on Luciferâs expense. Two âchildrenâ fighting for attention but only one was groomed to take over.
Speaking of taking over at the end of the episode of 1x10 we learn that Pops despite what Junior had done still had his son in his mind for taking over the restaurant. Pops believed in his son but allowed him space to grow eventually when everything failed.
If you remember Zadkielâs spoiler we see that in 5x15 for some reason Lucifer wants to re-join the Host. That aside from a reconciliation shows that like Junior, Lucifer for his own reasons - we do not know what has happened but we will go back to that in the S&S of 5x15 - wants what divine power has to offer.
What happens next is again interesting -censored-. I just want you to see how we do not deal with standalones but everything progresses towards a point, a familiar yet innovative point for the series.
In episode 2x01, Lucifer asks mockingly an offended Chloe who did she thought he took after, his Dad? That happened because Lucifer believed to have taken more after his mother but as we know genetics is a funny thing, Celestial genetics even more so.
Godâs absence from Luciferâs life shaped him. He did drove Lucifer to become something he wasnât but after 4.5 seasons can we claim that Lucifer and God are nothing alike?Â
Maze I believe was spot on on the similarities God and Lucifer held.
Lucifer believes in justice, in truth and is able to love. He has been more of an Angel than any non fallen Angel has ever been so far.Â
Amenadiel tricked a dead human to kill Lucifer thus condemning him again in Hell however as we know from Charlotteâs case a redemption was not impossible.Â
Uriel wanted to kill his mother and wouldnât hesitate to kill Chloe in the process. Azrael is basically a liar and manipulator, Remiel would gleefully cut open a human for their half-celestial baby while Michael is really-really messed up.
So what has happened?
Like with Junior, Lucifer was pushed by his Father to become the man he is today. And Lucifer likes what he is, who he is because he sees the change and is even afraid of not being real when that change is questioned or exposed to him.
youtube
The same happened with Amenadiel, once he decided to embrace humanity and brotherhood. He changed for the better and became more âangelicâ.
So yes, Juniorâs story does apply to Lucifer on many levels. But Junior didnât have that dinner with his Father, Lucifer will as they will do two more of his siblings. Some will be hurt, some will feel betrayed and some may walk out.
Which brings us to a very big question.Â
Was Mum truthful when she said to Lucifer, his Dad wanted to destroy him? If the answer is yes, how will both deal with that? Because Lucifer may have not totally believed Mum.
If that answer comes to play we should consider it as the common question children come forward to when they learn they were not planned or their parents had opted at first to have an abortion. The fact that they didnât get on with the abortion or had willingly made a child does affect their feelings towards that child now? Do they regret it? Do they want what that child has become?
These are all tough questions and sometimes the answers are not easy either. Mainly because humans like celestials with human emotions as it seems, are secure and balanced only with the totality of a circumstance. Everything or nothing, the rest in between are not welcome and itâs bound to hurt.
Finally, on this 1x10 weird reminisce. Can we say that Lucifer will be allowed in the end to create something that represents him? I think he may but more about that in 5x16 S&S.
Probably the story will not end with redemption but with Lucifer finally becoming his own person one that resembles a lot of Dad and Dad may accept or even encourage that path. That does not mean he will start anew though
Which brings us back to the adversary of 1x10 - Pops. The sous chef believed that Junior was not worthy of his fatherâs tolerance and reward so she made sure to destroy his reputation and went as far as trying to kill him. That sounds a lot like Michael.
Michaelâs speech towards Maze about what was happening in the Silver City in 5x02 did echo the sous chef words:
So we should wonder if Michael will succeed to a point to ruin Luciferâs chances and leave Lucifer live with the consequences in the end as our hero learns to move on from whatever injustice happened or the writers will provide a catharsis.
And a final question here⌠Is Amenadiel really the favourite son? I somehow doubt that, perhaps Iâll be proved wrong as in many interviews Henderson has gone back to Amenadielâs arc as he learns he is the âfavouriteâ and so far he has not said anything to contradict the belief 2x17 brought to us with so many translated Sumerian words.
But as we said teh Dinner will not be cathartic on the contrary so does that mean that Lucifer eventually walks away? Probably.
At the photos that were posted near Christmas we have two bts one crystal clear and the other more hazy which shows Lucifer at the Penthouse and Dad being there in his white cardigan. I do suspect that meeting at the penthouse happens after the dinner but it does not resolve things between Father and son. it is also possible that itâs why we need the very emotional scene from the musical to be moved forward and 511 script to become 5x10 aired episode.
Perhaps the comment on itâs not just Lucifer who hits the keys was referring to Dad and not Maze in 5x01.
Although we cannot be sure on what will happen in the penthouse and whether Scarlet was meant to join that scene or simply was on set for the day (highly probable) for another scene, we do know that in this episode we had a LUX night. A most perhaps unconventional one.
By this point you know that the writers are ready to address everything or at least make parallels and so somehow we have one with 1x09 - A Priest Walks Into A Bar. This time however it is seems like God Walks Into His Sonâs Bar.
If the camera is clear enough we can see God (?) talking to a white person. I would have loved it if it was Dan but I cannot tell for sure.
Whether that visit happens before or after the family dinner I believe it may happen before as the clothes Dennis wore at the lot around that time were different from the white we saw him appear with in the end of 5x08. Of course that does not say much as we will see Dad in the same/similar white clothes in at least three different episodes in Part 2.
Therefore in the conclusion of this S&S we should speculate that the Dinner is placed at the middle of the episode and a resolution is reached for Deckerstar in the end of the episode but Luciferâs turmoil did fit better through the musical episode hence the change.Â

TWD ending news; thoughts and speculations
 Caryl đşÂ đ Richonne đ˝
TWD is ending soon!  -not quite.
Hereâs my thoughts on it. the lows and highs. Anyways so yeah 9/9/20 was a crazy TWD news day.(and other tv news too, wtf tv gods. Yeah ..been a crazy tv week.) wtf, why that day? and I guess itâs like an unofficial Caryl day, huh? lol So itâs overwhelming. I wanna write it all out and my feels.   ok I guess Iâm not that super excited or invested to it than others..idk I guess the excitement will hit me later or gradual. :P ok...idk I donât wanna speculate too much. We donât know much on it still.
So .... theyâre/AMC saying TWD show (Rickâs/Grimes show) will end in a super sized s11. TWD finally got an ending plan! lol this show/franchise. I donât mind that itâs ending or whatever, I mainly want a good story...a good written ending. But itâs all based on how if I still enjoy this show/franchise.. ok. Plus thereâs a Caryl spin-off show and anthology spin-off show later on. +movie.
Itâs a long post and I kinda mapped it out.
So in a *timeline*, in October itâs the s10 ep 16 âfinaleâ episode. Recently, weâre also getting s10C (coronavirus pandemic bonus episodes) - six episodes I think, in Spring â21 (filming in October â20). Theyâre like inbetween episodes to s11. Idk what theyâre like. standalone episodes? And then theyâre gonna do the seriesâs final season, s11, with 24 (12+12)episodes. Idk when it starts. They film next summer, i guess, and show it in the Fall â21 and Spring â22. Then itâs the spin-off shows, and Caryl..but I wanna focus more on Caryl spin-off show. That will be I guess in â23. ...And a movie(s) :D but everyoneâs doubtful and clueless of it but I think it will be filmed next year, â21. (and thereâs TWD:WB and FTWD soon)
Ok yeah so ldksjfaljdflsj they say itâs sad news that TWDÂ ending but like lol it doesnât seem like it..from a Caryler I guess, +movie. So, I have theories and Iâm like not so sure whatâs really gonna happen. I need more info and well we never know what the writers or the future gonna do. Yeah first of all, these plans~~~, and yet weâre in the pandemic and dumb governing on these things. So Iâm gonna guess these plans are gonna change or slow down. You never know. Ok.
Iâm also like surprised that thereâs gonna be a Caryl spinoff show. (itâs like if they made a Daryl spin-off show. Or any spin-off show..) I mean I didnât think MMB and NR were still wanting to keep working on TWD/AMC. I thought like any actor..would want to do new things...Ok but they wanna keep working on AMC. NR -Iâm not surprised cos heâs like a busy bee..um idk but yeah. Instead of Daryl show itâs now Caryl show from what I suspected-ish. And from the news they sound like itâs a shippy thing. It was also planned since 2018 I think..and âletâs go to New Mexico.â They knew long ago. So, I speculated awhile ago, when we learned that MMB and NR have contracts ending till s12. Itâs like we all kinda suspected right that TWD will end in s12 except in episode # count. S10C + s11 (24 episdoes/+8 exra). They combined it earlier. Why earlier Idk...the pandemic? Or Gimpleâs plan in franchise timeline?Â
So yeah that Caryl spin-off show! Like I hope it means that Caryl are romantic and endgame on this.đ The more I read on this and thought about it. I donât want to like get my hopes up too high or whatever. I donât really trust writers.. eh ...it all depends on the story every time. I also think of the fandom/carylers on how they react to a canon-Caryl or even how the writers will show canon-Caryl. Because writers..like usually writers donât write canon couples romance well. Itâs usually love triangle, reunite a bunch of times, or breakup/makeup a lot. eh. I just hope they make Caryl story good and interesting. Another thing Caryl ship had always been like a subtle ship and angsty. We get bits and bits to keep going ..so a full attention of Caryl or canon-Caryl will be different. I hope it all goes well. :3 Itâs all reminds me of Mindy Project show ..thereâs always sides in the fandom. Some wonât like it, some will but itâs always about the main couple. Oh, my thoughts of Caryl show is that it will be like Bones, SPN, FTWD, or BeIIarke -_- lol , or something.Â
So from what I read when they already want to keep going with the spin-off show back in â18, the Caryl spin-off show will actually cost less than the TWD main show. Itâs interesting. Itâs all contracts, deals, Netflix, $ stuff. The show might not be international and on netflix, Idk. You know the ratings arenât that great and most fans left,..but I guess they can still make the Caryl spin-off show. (a season or more idk) I was thinking it might be a Caryl-only show with different cast and set ...or the Caryl spin-off show might actually be just like TWD main show-s10 but different deals $ etc, and they can do whatever.Â
Oh, that itâs a spin-off then, and not now in s10 and s11, because the TWD main show will be done adapting the comic book storyline..(instead of thinking of the MMB and NRâs contracts). Yeah one of the theories.. like really Idk why we have Caryl spin-off show when s10 and s11 is pretty much already a Caryl show..with Maggie. But I guess itâs all due with contracts and stuff. And I guess it works timely with the comic storyline. Though the comic storyline parallel/adapting is so different now. Itâs very broad parallels. I guess it all works out in little ways. contracts, comics, and starting fresh. The Caryl spin-off show, they can really get away from the Grimes/Rick storyline which I like that itâs gonna be really separated by being a different show. (I guess also AMC have more control too.) Itâs not on the same main show/s10 and on. Like storywise, I like that TWD show is always about the Grimes and it feels like it will be done right and completed to end it in s11 and that is based on comics/and the Grimes (I hope). If that make sense? Rick/Grimes show,is based on comics, will have an ending...TV-wise. Because thereâs the movies too supposedly. Yeah maybe Iâm not sad..because thereâs the Rick movies thing in the works too. I hope s11 will still be about the connection to the Grimes. Like everyone looking after Judith and RJ and figuring out what to do with finding Richonne and stuff. To set up for the movies. (and TWD WB s2?) Because if not, then ugh then AMC shouldâve had the main show ended in s10. Wow.., the show is not based on the comics like it was before and I really canât speculate s11 and on. Like I hope the writers got juicy stories to tie in with Rick and Michonne, and Maggie/Commonwealth comic stuff. uhh. So yeah Caryl spin-off show it means they can do whatever and writers/me? donât have to worry that if itâs not connecting with the Grimes storyline. If AMC/Gimple wants to connect everyone.
And one of my theories or hope is that Caryl looks after Grimes kids ...in s11 and search for Rick/Richonne or help him, in part of the bigger plot of Rick movie story, in the spin-off show. Like Caryl will work on plan that later helps out Rick in the movies later on. Yeah and I just think the Rick movies are more like âTWD moviesâ where all the characters in the franchise will be part of the story. So yeah Rick reunites with everyone. The end, Happy ending! :3 So thereâs many ways Caryl show might be like: same cast from TWD show that AMC controls more/Caryl leads/not based on comics(romantic or not), Caryl-only show, or Caryl kinda in part of the Rick movies story-like helping him in some way. etc. Oh, ..I was also thinking itâs like I guess FTWD .. I was also thinking Morgan and his friends might be also be in part of helping Rickâs plans in the Rick movies too. (.. if Gimple wants to do that.) I hope Caryl will be romantic..I donât want a âCaryl spin-off showâ when itâs just same cast and Caryl still not together. eh. ..Why call it âCarol and Daryl spin-off showâ? So I guess itâs gonna be shippy.
So I think the Rick movies (which so far is still happening and three of âem.../if) will be after s11 and after TWD WB s2 - â21/22.  idk when FTWD comes.
Oct â20 - TWD:WB s1
spring â21 -TWD s10CÂ
summer â21? - TWD: WB s2/ends
fall â21 and spring/summer â22 (or fall â22? lol) - TWD s11Â
â22? *rick movie 1? (...with everyone there?)
â23 Caryl spin-off show s1
â23 and on? * rick movie 2? movie 3?
....etc.
So...you get it..like itâs like some big overall storyline Gimple is doing. But plans can change and anything could happen. I may be speculating wrong. Who knows. sigh. I just want Team Family reunited with Rick again and a good ending as best as writers can do. :BÂ If they canât make a movie(s) then I hope Gimple find a way to end Rickâs story for fans.
sigh yeah tired of the fandom complaining and assuming/speculating wrong. (like hating on the spin-off show when they donât know what a spin-off show is.) blah. idk. tired of shippers..generalizing. (I ship both Caryl and Richonne so. sigh go away drama) Iâm tired of fans being biased and doubting and singling things out. I feel like we all won. But anyway until more news and facts it is what it is. I wanna wait till when things actually happen or news that say something wonât happen. Keep waiting and hoping on :] *Caryl on*

Top 5 Things I Disliked About Red vs Blue: Season 2
When I decided to do this series, I knew it was gonna be hard to do lists for Blood Gulch. Not because I canât think of anything I like or dislike specifically, but as I said before, BGC is mainly comedic driven. The worst I can say is âthis isnât funnyâ and critique the earlier production standards. Which thatâs kinda mean since they were working with what they had and trying to learn to do the show. As such, I have to reach on Dislikes for these and S2 was a tough one in that regard. I managed to come up with five, but GOD I had to stretch haaaard on it.
But still, I did it. Just remember, take this with a grain of salt. So here we go, Top 5 Things I Disliked About RvB S2.
#5. Doc
If you asked me which of the BGC to write out and never bring back⌠Iâd probably have to pick Doc. Donât get me wrong, I donât hate him, but Iâve also never loved him. He comes off more whiny than funny, and most of the time heâs only funny due to the back and forth with OâMalley. Otherwise, usually⌠heâs just there. Even here in S2, while having a pacifist medic in a cast where several are trigger happy could lead to some funny stuff, Doc was just an annoyance. The situations he got into were funny, like getting knocked into the Warthog when the Blues unknowingly made it go rogue, but he was literally just there for the ride. Something IDT later season really improved aside form 16 and 17, which tbh I think is stretching it.
IDK, I just find Doc whiny and kinda boring. Even if heâs meant to be the annoying, disrespected nice guy, doesn't Donut kinda fit that slot already? Heck, they both even have the recurring âdisappear for seasons and then suddenly comes backâ joke. The only times that I feel invested in Doc is when he has OâMalley, which is how he re-entered the plot here. Iâm gonna save more about that in the S3 posts, but on his own? Doc just⌠doesnât really work and I didnât really miss him in between the Reds dumping him and him reappearing when OâMalley infected him. Itâs also a flaw IDT recent seasons have really fixed, though they are trying. Plus I donât hate Doc and some jokes with him do work (the gag of his naming made me giggle), I'm just⌠indifferent. But thatâs why heâs at the top of the list since the most I can say is I find him whiny and not as funny,
#4. The Cyborg Subplot
So due to losing Lopez and because heâs Sarge, Sarge decides to turn one of the Reds into a cyborg to do all the stuff that Lopez did. He settles on Simmons. Now in and of itself, the subplot is fine. It leads to a good few jokes, like Grif trying to ruin Simmonsâ parts after the surgery or a few gags like Simmons shooting his own foot and of course, faxass. While IDT the season would have been hurt without it, it has plenty of funny bits. Sow hatâs the problem. Well⌠like I said, cutting it wouldnât have hurt anything. It kinda is just there to give the Reds something to do during the OâMalley and Tex stuff since otherwise, theyâd just be standing around and taking⌠well, more than normal. Otherwise, itâs only significance plot-wise is Tucker tuning into their frequency, which is important in the finale when he picks up Vic and Sargeâs conversation.
So yeah, the subplot isnât all that important. But it is still funny, so I don't mind it being there. But nowadays⌠how much so we see this come up? I mean Grif got mutilated by a tank and got another guyâs body/organs haphazardly stitched on. Simmons, while he possibly gave up those parts to Grif willingly, was otherwise forcibly converted into a cyborg. This⌠hasnât really come up again. I mean the only time I think Simmons mentioned it in-show was as a brief joke in S11. Nine seasons later. I donât think Grifâs side of it has come up at all ever again. Though⌠considering you can only get so many jokes out of this setup since everyone is always in armor, I do understand why. Though I feel with Simmonsâ side at least, they could play with it some more, both comedically and maybe even storywise. But that may be my need for Simmons content talkingâŚ
So yeah, the subplot was okay. Itâs at Number Four since I donât hate it and it was funny. I just feel like nothing would be lost without it, especially since it pretty much never comes up again. Maybe one day though, who knows? At least the fanfic writers keep it alive XD
#3. The Caboose Forgetting Church Thing
Okay this is brief, but it does annoy me. During the whole trip into Cabooseâs mind, Cabooseâs memory of Church gets shot. As such, Caboose forgets who Church is. Makes sense, OâMalley killed the personification of Church in Cabooseâs mind, so his mind would forget it. It also explains why Caboose got, well⌠for lack of a better way to put it, intellectually challenged later on due to having three AIâs in his brain and all the chaos that broke out. But Caboose forgetting Church lasts like⌠one episode? Maybe two? Anyways, Burnie explained on the commentary that it was just too hard to write out so they did one joke with it, and then just dropped it. Probably for the best... but then we have to figure out how this works in-continuity... damn it.
Really this is only on here because it forces me to try to figure out how this is possible in a show sense. Which yeah I probably donât need to, but I am a continuity loser who tries to piece together these things. If I had to guess, maybe the memory of Church fixed itself somehow or Caboose was able to recall after being around Church for a little while. But I honestly really donât know, and trying to think it through hurts my brain. It also did little to nothing either story-wise or comedy-wise, at least we got a few jokes out of the cyborg subplot. IDK, I feel like they gave up on it too soon. But then again this is the saga where theyâll break/ignore continuity for the sake of a joke and thatâs just how these seasons worked. Hence why I put it smack-dab in the middle.
#2. Some Holdover S1 Issues
You can tell that there was a mass improvement in terms of production for Season Two. Pacing felt stronger, more was going on, characterizations began to settle in, and they even began to form more of a plot. They clearly had a much better idea of what they were doing now that they got through Season One and I think things like Matt becoming more involved in writing and production as well as Gus moving back to work on the show really helped as well. That being said, not everything got resolved. Most did, but there are still a few holdouts.
Audio mixing is a LOT better, especially when it comes to effects. The filter is still a little distracting, though better compared to S1. Not all the characterizations really set in. Grif and Donut are about 75% there and Simmons and Tucker are probably the least set in stone. The traits are there, like Simmons clinginess to Sarge and Tucker actually showing some competence when forced to, but nothing set in stone. Donutâs also on the right path with his hobbies and tendency to babble into TMI territory, but the voice is still off and his personality isnât quite there yet. Thereâs some other, but Iâll touch on it in the Likes list. Some jokes could also still drag, like the whole switch joke where some of Church and Tuckerâs back and forth went on a little too long.
Weâre clearly making progress, but the mark hasnât quite been hit. Itâs still an improvement over S1 though, the pacing especially. This is nitpicky, but still itâs there. But hey itâs progress, and that is never a bad thing. So yeah, RvB is still evolving here, but the progress bar is loading steadily and trust me, by S3 I think weâll be settled in⌠well, for the most part.
#1. Some Outdated Humor
The BGC was made from 2003 to 2007. Obviously, thereâs gonna be some stuff that is outdated. Take the graphics themselves for example. Halo has evolved, so the game can look a little outdated, especially when you compare the original footage to the remastered footage. Let's put it this way, VIC is uncanny in the remaster⌠and is utterly horrifying in the original version. Thank God that the DVD is the remaster and I was spared of looking at that monstrosity. Visuals arenât the only thing though, some pop culture references can also come off as outdated, like Creed joke in the RL vs Internet PSA. So can some of the humor that shows how stupid we were back only two decades ago.
There are⌠some jokes that are uncomfortable to listen to. For example, thereâs the Grif shaming himself joked by saying heâs a girl and likes ribbons in his hair. Itâs not the worst joke and clearly, it isnât made to offend⌠but nowadays I think it could look offensive to certain individuals. It didnât necessarily offend me, but it did kinda make me feel uncomfortable when I first watched it, but it could be me thinking it over too hard. Thereâs also the casual usage of the R word. Last season it came up a bit, but I noticed it came up more frequently here. Not excessively, but there were quite a few instances where it was treated as a casual curse word. Obviously back in 2004 we didnât realize this was an offensive term, and I think theyâve even said that they regret the casual usage of it during the early years. You certainly would probably not hear that word used unless maybe to emphasize how terrible a character is, but even then I think theyâd be more careful.
Now obviously RvB uses a lot of adult and offensive humor, especially in this era. I guess you can kinda call it the web version of South Park, only RvB has never really resorted to shock humor. It puts it above many, /many/ animated adult comedies in that regard. Still, when you run for this long, youâre gonna have some outdated elements. Itâs not necessarily their fault, it just shows that times has changed. Still, it does make some stuff hard to look back on without cringing, and I imagine that the Founders would agree. So yeah⌠thereâs just some stuff that wasn't fun to look back over and S2 isnât the only offender, but this was where it stood out to me and took me out of the moment. As such, it is Number One.

The 100 rewatch: 1x12/1x13 We Are Grounders (Part 1&Part 2)
So Iâve come to the end of my rewatch of season 1. (The season 2 opener post will come soon. Iâve already rewatched it.) Overall my opinions on the quality of the season havenât changed much, though I did like some episodes more and some episodes less this time. It was, however, interesting to see how much foreshadowing there was of later events and how many moments later got callbacks and parallels in later seasons.Â
Iâve also tried to now keep track of the timeline and body count in every episode...but Iâm now starting to realize, after how confusing the numbers got in 1x11 and in these two episodes, that Iâve probably given it much more thought than the writers ever did. In the end, I had to look up The 100 wiki â but it seems just as confused as I am.
Back when I first binged the show, some 7 months ago, I was posting about it on SpoilerTV in the daily discussion threads. Sometimes I wrote just a few lines, but about this two-parter, I wrote a very detailed post - and I wish I had posted it on Tumblr, too. Maybe Iâll dig it up and post it as an annex or something. Funny thing, before that, after 1x11, I made my list of predictions for the two-part finale, and all of them turned out to be true. I liked it anyway - predicting things isnât always bad, it may mean that the storytelling is logical and that plot points were well foreshadowed. But itâs also one of the reasons why I didnât find it as mind-blowing as the S2 one or S4 , or even S5 one. (But itâs certainly miles better than the S3 finale. Although thatâs not saying much, since the latter was pretty anticlimactic and is one of my least favorite episodes.)
Iâve always felt that Part 1 was the stronger episode, and that hasnât changed.
Ranking and ratings of season 1 episodes:
1x12 We Are Grounders part 1 - 10/10
1x13 We Are Grounders part 2 - 9/10
1x08 Day Trip - 9/10
1x10 I Am Become Death - 9/10
1x05 Twilight's Last Gleaming - 8.5/10
1x06 His Sister's Keeper - 8/10
1x03 Earth Kills - 8/10
1x11 The Calm - 8/10
1x04 Murphy's Law - 7/10
1x07 Contents Under Pressure - 6.5/10
1x09 Unity Day - 6/10
1x02 Earth Skills - 4.5/10
1x01 The Pilot - 4.5/10
 Season 1 overall - 7.54/10
Part 1
One of the few things I didnât guess about this finale in advance was Ark coming down the way it did. Itâs kind of funny that Kane tried to have a sacrificial redemptive death, but Jaha got there first, and had his best and most useful and most heroic moment ever⌠but then the show didnât let Jaha have a redemptive death but let him live. And then he went on to make terrible mistakes and be an antagonist for at least 2 seasons, before having a morally grey (and most suited to his character) role in S4.
Every time someone tries to sacrifice themselves on The 100, they live on, and almost every time a major character has a big heroic moment, they are brought low the next season and make terrible mistakes and/or do antiheroic things.Â
I like it whenever the show has a flashback of the life on the Ark or goes into the past in some other way. And itâs always nice to have another little reminder of the time when Wells used to exist for 3 episodes, which usually happens through his fatherâs memories or hallucinations. Here itâs Jaha watching an old video of Wells and Clarke, which helps him figure out the solution to how to bring the Ark to the ground.
And look at Jaha opening a 97 year old bottle of scotch, âThe Batonâ This bottle is almost a recurring character - doesnât it also appear in the season 4 finale?
I remember that I Kane and Abbyâs chemistry was so obvious in this episode, and their scenes so close and extremely friendly (what a contrast to where they started... like mother, like daughter?) that I made a comment that they seemed like they were going to start making out any moment, LOL. And I wasnât even shipping them then, it was more like âWait, is this going to be a thing now?â Well, I wasnât wrong, it just took them 2 more seasons.
A few bullet points about things first mentioned in this episode:Â
First appearance of Tristan, sent by Lexa, who tells Clarke âIâm the man sent to slaughter your peopleâ. Well, at least no one can say the guy is not honest and straightforward. Also the first time we hear about the existence of âthe Commanderâ and learn that Anya isnât actually the leader of the Grounders. An interesting bit of trivia Iâve learned since is that the Commander was originally supposed to be a child. JRoth must be really In love with this idea, since he went back to it eventually with Madi.
First time we hear about and see the Reapers, and the scenes with them looked like something right out of a horror movie and was genuinely horrifying. Lincoln not answering Finnâs question what they are but simply saying âPray you never find outâ was, of course, a way to keep it a mystery for us a bit longer, but now we know it was really more about, pray you never get to become one, which happens with Lincoln in season 2, while Finn will unleash his inner monster in another way.
First mention of Luna by name, though Lincoln had already talked about her people to Octavia earlier in the season. I wonder how much of her role was already planned in season 1. With all the Mount Weather mentions and other things like the acid fog, Lincolnâs drawings etc., itâs clear that the main arc of the first 2 seasons was planned since the beginning, with Grounders as secondary antagonists that the 100 mostly deal with in season 1, and the Mountain Men as the main villains, who will get focused on in season 2. But Iâm not sure that this was the case with any of the season 3 arcs.
Lincoln finally explains why he is helping the 100 and that itâs not just about Octavia: âWhat my people are doing to your people isnât rightâ. The same reason why Maya and the other rebels in MW will be helping the Delinquents in season 2. In the show where people too often justify their actions by âit was for my peopleâ, it is great to have characters who prioritize what is right.Â
And god, how good it feels to hear lines like that again. Maybe JRoth and the rest of the writers should have rewatched season 1 and remember the things that actually happened in their own show? Back when they still hadnât gotten it into their heads that the 100 were somehow the bad guys in that scenario because they were desperately trying to survive after being forced to go to the ground (sent by the Arker leadership because the Arkers were going to die in space), and that Grounders were somehow the good guys for attacking and trying to kill them all for no reason but paranoia and prejudice?
Two big things that happen to Finn: he has a reaction to having directly killed someone for the first time (even though it was a Reaper) and then made his big love declaration to Clarke- only to be rejected, in one of my favorite moments of season 1. Iâve always found Clarkeâs reactions throughout that storyline and particularly in this scene really relatable - her feelings for him havenât gone, but she was hurt and couldnât trust him or go there again. âYou broke my heart... Iâm sorry. I canât.â I always thought that she would never give him a chance again, and that, while the feelings were still there, she was slowly starting to move on and that, in any case, he was her past rather than her future, long before he killed a bunch of people and she had to mercy kill him. Overall, while I really didnât like Finn/Clarke or Finn/Raven as relationships, the atypical way the C/F/R love triangle was resolved (both girls reject Finn, and become friends) was one of my favorite things about S1.
Finnâs line âI should have fought for youâ always struck me as odd (thatâs not exactly what Iâd say was the problem: he should have been honest with her and told her he had a girlfriend, or then he should have been honest with Raven and told her the truth, he shouldnât have been playing both of them, he should have made up his mind and been honest about it rather than waiting for Raven to dump himâŚ), and Iâm not sure what exactly he meant (fought against whom? Or did he just mean, been more decisive and not let passively wait for things to happen?) but I guess it reflects Finnâs state of mind? He was always trying to play a white knight, first to Raven on the Ark, then to Clarke. And in retrospect, this may be one of the first signs that of where he ends up in S2, when he becomes violent and obsessed with the idea that heâs going to find and save Clarke. But the show has never been fully clear on how much his mental state was PTSD due to war and fighting, and how much his increasingly unhealthy obsession with Clarke.
Speaking of saving Clarke, the fact that Bellamy was able to be very rational about the fact Clarke, Finn and Monty were missing and focus on protecting the camp rather than going on a rescue mission, as opposed to the way he acted in 3x02 when he learned Clarke was in danger and immediately got dressed as an Ice Nation warrior and went on his own behind enemy lines to rescue her, says a lot about how much Bellamyâs feelings for Clarke became stronger between the end of season 1 and beginning of season 3.
This was the episode when Bellamy definitely became one of my 2 favorite characters, with how he dealt with the Murphy situation, and showed what a leader he had become. (Which Jasper also recognized, verbally and with a big hug.) If I were to dig up my SpoilerTV post I wrote back then, youâd see a lot of very embarrassing fangirling over Bellamy. ;)Â
This time I was able to focus more on Murphyâs motivations and characterization, which I didnât think that much before.  When Murphy is trying to taunt Bellamy - after putting a noose around his neck - saying things like âYou think youâre so braveâ, âYou think youâre stronger than meâ â Iâm pretty sure thatâs what Murphy thinks, deep inside. He has a deep inferiority complex. Which is exactly why he wanted revenge on Bellamy in such a way, hoping to see him afraid and brought low. He used to defer to Bellamy in the early days at the ground, so when Bellamy threw him to the wolves, then later tried to kill him in rage, exiled him and showed multiple times how little he respected him or cared for him (compared to, say, a little girl), that must have brought on a lot of resentment. But the whole âI know the truth, youâre a cowardâ thing would work better if it wasnât in a situation where Bellamy was risking his life to save Jasper and actually being just as awesome as Murphy was trying to prove he wasnât, so the whole revenge attempt was a huge, pathetic failure by Murphy. And Murphy going on about how heâs maybe now going to become the leader of the 100 after both âthe princessâ and âthe kingâ die, now seems less like a villainâs threat, and more like empty bragging that he probably didnât even believe in himself. He knows heâs not a leader type and heâs much better at making people hate him than follow him.
The speech Bellamy gives at the camp is impassioned and emotion-driven and gets the Delinquents full of passion to stay and fight â for a moment, until Clarke gives her short speech where she simply points out that theyâre likely to die if they stay and convinces them to leave. This is a good example why and how the idea of Bellamy as âthe Heartâ and Clarke as âthe Headâ makes sense: itâs not that he is all emotion and canât think rationally or that sheâs emotionless â both of these things are obviously untrue â or that heâs always acting on emotion or that sheâs always making her decisions rationally (there are plenty of examples of either of them doing the opposite), but itâs how they tend to approach leadership and decision-making and the arguments they used to appeal to people: his tend to be emotional, hers practical.
Part 2
âŚAnd Clarke points that out to Bellamy when she convinces him to go with the others rather than stay on his own to fight, in one of her many pep talks to Bellamy about what a great leader he is. âYou inspire themâ. (Sheâll tell him the same in the S4 finale.)
The Blake siblings scene was beautiful and emotional and one of my favorite scenes in season 1. But now, after that relationship got a lot more dysfunctional in the following seasons, I canât help but notice that, while Bellamy takes back his statement from 1x06 that his life ended when Octavia was born, saying it was the opposite, Octavia never really took back her accusations that Bellamy was at fault for their mother dying and pretty much everything. (In the following seasons, Octavia will keep the tradition of always blaming Bellamy for everything ever. She does, however, tell himâI love you, big brotherâ. I believe she says that two more times, in the S4 finale and the S5 finale. But in the latter, it understandably doesnât get quite the same response.
And here we go again, Murphy is once more captured and tortured by the Grounders⌠how many times does Murphy get tortured or has other bad things happen to him during seasons 1-3?
Fans who like Finn more than I do have argued that he jumped in and saved Bellamy during the battle because they are comrades. But since he was earlier willing to let Bellamy stay behind and probably be killed, I think the main reason Finn did it was because Clarke was showing concern for Bellamy and upset about him potentially dying.
My main problem with Part 2 was always the scene where Clarke has to pull the lever and close the dropship door, before Jasper incinerates everyone outside. Or rather specifically, the scene where she and Finn stare at each other for a couple of seconds during battle, with dramatic music and all, which was weird because he was pretty close by and it looked like she could have yelled at him to get inside, and he could have come inside, so I was never sure if the scene was just badly done, or if it was supposed to be deeply meaningful (Finn starting to lose it and desperate to prove himself as her hero? A reaction to her rejection? PTSD? All of that at once?) but it didnât quite work because she looked frozen and emotional, but he was just kind of blankly staring at her⌠And Iâm afraid I still donât have no idea what the scene was supposed to be.
In any case, the entire thing with Clarkeâs dramatic and heartbreaking choice to close to door on Finn and Bellamy to save the others should have felt more epic and had more weight, but it kind of does not. It happens quickly, and then thereâs more focus on whether the Delinquent crowd will act inhumane and lynch a vastly outnumbered Anya. And, of course, thereâs also the fact that Iâm pretty sure no one in the audience ever thought Finn or Bellamy were actually dead. But at least the scene where Clarke goes outside and stares at two charred skeletons was good because you really felt what she must have been thinking. Â
However, I love the parallel/contrast to this scene in the S5 finale, when Clarke keeps waiting for Bellamy to come inside the ship and doesnât pull the lever to close the door (while Raven is hurrying her to do it, same as Miller was here).
The visual of the Ark coming down is beautiful - it looks like a âfalling starâ - a callback to the earlier conversations about making a wish on a star.
Kane and Abby looking at the Earth together kinds of reminds me of Bellamy and Clarke watching the new planet in the S5 finale. (Except the former two at this point arenât nearly as close to pull each other in an embrace.)
The ending with the Mountain Men is well done, but that was one of the things I predicted at the time: that the finale will mostly be about fighting Grounders, and then the Mountain Men will appear at the end, and they will be very technologically advanced. With so many mentions of them, it wasnât hard to guess they had to be the S2 antagonists who appear at the very end of S1 in a cliffhanger - shows often do that. (I actually didnât even make the Mount Weather connection, since Iâm not from USA and had no idea what it was. But the mysterious Mountain Men had to be different from Grounders and Reapers, and the opposite of what youâd normally expect from people called âmountain menâ. Which doesnât mean it was not a good twist - itâs just hard to fully surprise fans like me who have watched so much TV .)
Timeline: I used to think season 1 lasted about a month, month and a half, but now it seems that it canât be more than 3 weeks, at most. And even thatâs a stretch.
We know for sure that episodes 1-6 lasted 10 days (and a week passed between 1x03 and 1x04), but events in episodes 1x06 to 1x09 were happening very fast, it couldnât have been more than a couple of days, and ditto for episodes 1x10-1x13. The only possible times when more time could have passed was between 1x9 and 1x10.
Body count:
Part 1:Â
1 Delinquent (Myles), wounded last episode and now murdered by Murphy as revenge for the lynching.
1 patient on the Ark that Abby wasnât able to save.
1 Grounder killed off-screen by Lincoln
2 or 3 Reapers
1 or 2 unfortunate Grounders being eaten or about to be eaten by the Reapers.
Part 2: Lots of people.
About 300 Trikru warriors (and some of the Reapers who had been fighting them, probably) â most of them burned in the ring of fire.
Either 31 or 29 Delinquents â first a redshirt Drew, killed by a scout before the battle, then a bunch of them in battle with the Trikru (or maybe burned). This is where it gets confusing. At the start of Part 2, Bellamy feels heâs failed and says there have been 18 dead, and Clarke tries to comfort him, saying 82 are still alive. But only 16 Delinquents were killed before 1x13. So, either 1) two more died of that illness or were killed by the Grounders off-screen, or 2) he was assuming Monty and Murphy were dead or would soon be dead. And in season 3, Bellamy tells Kane âTrikru killed 37 of my friends before you even touched the groundâ. Out of the 16 Delinquents who definitely died in the first 12 episodes, 6 were killed by Grounders (3 directly, 3 by bio warfare/illness). That would mean either 2 more + Drew + 29 in battle, or Drew + 31 in battle. Â In any case, in season 2, 48 were captured in Mount Weather, while 6 survived outside of it (Octavia, Murphy, Finn, Monroe, Sterling, and one boy killed by Tristan in 2x01) â which would make 54, plus Bellamy and Raven.
A bunch of people died in the landing of the Ark, but thereâs no info how many. In 1x07 they said there were 2,237 people on the Ark. (Which means that, before they sent the 100 to the ground and Raven took the escape pod, there were at least 2339.) Â In 1x11, Kane said there were about 1,000 survivors on the Ark. But he also said 1,500 died in the shutdown of the Ark, which definitely doesnât add up, as it would mean there were about 2,500 people before that, and thatâs without the few hundred that died with Diana on the Exodus ship (which Kane may or may not counted?). Either Kane is terrible at math, or the writers got things mixed up. Anyway, letâs say that 1,000 survived, that means about 1,200 died either on Exodus or due to the shutdown on the Ark. But some of the 12 stations probably exploded before touching the ground, so a few hundred more Arkers probably died.

If you were the writer or season 2 and if "Farya" didn't exist .. How would've you portrayed AyĹe's character and her relationship with murad and with kosem ? (Sorry for my horrible English)
Hello! Thatâs such a good question, thank you.
I remember how the fandom was divided by âship warsâ when MYK s2 went on air, but personally I wanted to see more of a partnership than an epic love story. Thatâs way more realistic and interesting to me as a viewer; I think the rivalry and the unnecessary romance was one of the reasons why the plot for season 2 ended up getting wrong in a lot of ways. They had a good show and a rich account of past events, it didnât make sense to do the âhistory-repeats-itselfâ they decided to go for. I mean, when you watch episode 1 you see all the wasted potential in Ayseâs arc, itâs just sad.Â
So with this in mind, I still stand by what Margot and I talked about a while ago and she decided to make this amazing post. In details this represents everything that could have been in Ayseâs storyline. Hope it helps. :)
- Mai
I agree with Mai - Farya brought nothing of importance to the show despite all the screentime she occupied and all efforts of screenwriters to make us love her.
The fact that we know so little about Ayse and Ayse/Murad relations offered writers a lot of creative license and as such opportunity to bring something fresh to the table.
Getting rid of Farya and all her nonsensical plots would be the first step, of course. Show me a Farya-related plot that made sense and had actual meaning for overall storyline - there is none.Â
Second, now it is time for small digression - I find the repeated romantisation of slave/master relationships that often includes fairytale elements to be the biggest flaw of both shows. The shows did well in being critical about many aspects of pathologies of that system to the extent that is hard to find in other shows on the Ottoman Empire and which even made Erdogan angry (compare with MBCF with all its super!Mehmed stuff, and I donât even want to mention TRT propaganda shows), but when it comes to (especially long-term) trauma of women who suddenly lost everything and became slaves used for reproduction and sexually pleasing a man for whom they were captured, they did very badly. They even portrayed the trauma of male slaves better thanks to a complex portrayal of Ibrahimâs character in the original MY, with the lingering trauma contributing heavily to his downfall.
Instead of trauma, we have too many master-slave romances. I can only recall Sadika crying after Suleyman forced her to sleep with him back in MY S1. Usually after a night spent with THE GUY concubines are shown to be on cloud nine. And in some cases it turns into love and if lifeâs not perfect thatâs not because of any long-term trauma, but only because of power struggles. Sometimes they even portray what pretty much has a lot of out-of-textbook elements of Stockholm syndrome to later not acknowledge it properly because of rushing though the plot and messy execution, see Nasya going quickly from âIâm not anyoneâs propertyâ to âI belong to himâ because she needed to stay because of pure motives. I get it now more what they wanted to convey, especially in contrast with what weâve seen later and the darkness of the ending, but still.. you could have done it better. Man, even Christian princesses want nothing more but to become the Sultanâs mistress (lbr Murad wouldnât have married Farya without the attack). A lot of salt, yes, but this issue bothers me a lot and I had an Anon on fatihdaily expressing such worries too (thank you for an excellent ask, Anon!).
Back on track a bit - even if some of those women eventually developed affection for their masters because it was their only chance for some love or due to Stockholm syndrome (remember Safiyeâs âonly love may make living in this palace bearableâ - if this does not clearly point to Stockholm syndrome than IDK, BUT ACKNOWLEDGE THIS BETTER.
And Muradâs harem is perfect for that because he truly wasnât the romantic type or one for romantic bonds with women. He was truly the guy who used harem for reproduction and sexual satisfaction, if he managed to even grace it with his presence. Give me Ayse and Murad who arenât in love with each other, but sheâs the one who manages to earn his respect as perhaps the only woman after his mother. Give me Ayse, who in her loneliness tries to get close to Murad because heâs the only person she can truly get close to. He does sleep with her after all, kisses her, perhaps gives her some presents? Who is to quench her loneliness if not this man? Show me Ayse who partners with Murad because she tries to find purpose in this new life, at least for their kids. Show me Ayse whoâs aware that she could be much happier elsewhere, but must try to build a good future for herself where she is; who would love to abandon this life if it was possible. But do not show me woman a bitter woman scorned because dude rejects her first .
Now for character development: give me Ayse who grows bold enough to form her own network of relationships completely independently of Murad. Who, while at first scared of her mother-in-law, actually realises that she has much more in common with this woman than with her âpartnerâ, a âshadow of God on Earthâ, who has a lot given to him on a silver platter just because he bears the title of a padisah. And yes, we have practically next to none positive mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationships in MY/K, and since Kosem/Turhan has to be antagonistic eventually, why donât give Kosem a nice relationship with Ayse that would be more than just âwe tolerate each otherâ and that would never have anything hidden, like Turhan becoming close to Kosem to eventually use it against her mother-in-law? Give us something totally genuine, like Mahidevran/Mihrunnisa in original MY, just this time between two historical characters.Â
At the same time, Ayseâs relationship with Murad would deteriorate due to his increasing cruelty and alcohol addiction. This guy is definitely not a romantic hero out of every girlâs dreams. Bah, heâs not even a nice guy. And if you show abuse, again acknowledge it properly, without dumb lines like Madame Marguerite, who usually tried to knock some sense into Farya, telling her that âForgive him he tried to kill you for what was mainly his fault, poor Murad has so many things to worry aboutâ(WTF???). Make her drift away from him as much as she can OUT OF HER OWN WILL, not because he rejects her. I love Margotâs idea about Ayse realising he is trash before other big rival comes along. Since Murad likely had more than one concubine and one more haseki - bring them, but show Ayse not giving a fuck at all at this point. More - why not make them bond over their own misery? Murad descends into alcohol downward spiral that makes him spend much more time on long drinking parties with buds and killing or hurting people sometimes just because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time, so USE THIS OPPORTUNITY to show scared and disappointed women teaming up to survive his jackass behaviour.Â
We all know Ayse would eventually lose her sons, but I would love for her to also have daughters, so that she wouldnât be so alone because historically she lived really long. And yeah I wouldnât mind to see her being happy to leave Topkapi eventually, I donât mean here being happy upon a death of man who after all was the father of her kids, but relieved to be free of this palace at last. Challenge the âPalace of Tearsâ concept.
As for her personality⌠pretty much what Margot described. I would love her to be more quietly strong, to contrast nicely with the imposing presence of the powerhouse that Kosem is. Clever and perceptive, but not a schemer. Iâd love to see her use more emotional intelligence than pure cunningness. And I honestly feel Leyla Feray would be good to reflect such personality.
Oh, all the dreams *sighs*
Thank you once more for a great question :)

SUPERGIRL RANT 13
I know I said I wouldnât be making SG rants anymore⌠Maybe I shouldnât even comment since I havenât been watching SG. But Iâve been seeing story progression because I keep looking for Katie McGrathâs awesomeness on social mediaâŚ.
Correct me if Iâm wrong but Lena basically hides Sam/Reign away in order to figure out how to cure her and then Kara finds out that she has Kryptonite and basically freaks the fuck out. I maybe missing some detailsâŚ. Feel free to add/correct/change my way of thinking but I donât blame Lena for not telling SG that she had Kryptonite.
People are saying that she should have told SG that she had kryptonite but then why should she? If itâs because sheâs been saved by SG, then Iâd have to argue that sheâs saved SG/the world too.
Lena saved everyone from the Medusa virus, helped them make the lead bomb against the Daxamites, agreed to marry Mon to save the Childrenâs hospital, she even tried to save SG when her mom threw that sonic box thing on her, hell killed her boyfriend to save SG⌠point is, Lena has done a lot of good. Yet SG still doubts her just because she didnât tell her about the Kryptonite?
Lenaâs right about the God complex.
Unless season 1 is no longer canon, did SG forget what red Kryptonite did to her? If the argument is that she was afraid that Lena might accidentally have created unstable/red kryptonite, then yes I understand her anger but I think SG was just pissed that Lena has Kryptonite.
I mean SG didnât exactly go around dispelling lead from the Earth when she found out that Mon El was allergic so the issue I feel like has to do with her mortality and a little bit of trust but I canât really blame Lena for trying to make more Kryptonite after she saw how unstoppable Reign is and how powerless the DEO and SG have been against Reign.
I feel like Lena probably would have no problem telling Kara about the Kryptonite. Maybe if it werenât for the Sam/Reign thing she would have said something to Kara about her breakthrough. She already knows she can trust Kara but SG is different.
Yes, SG saved her life. But SG tries to save everyone. The Supers after all, are against killing. So to Lena, SG saving everyone is just something she does.
Lena doesnât have that same special connection to SG as she does with Kara so the trust isnât as strong. I mean, it clearly isnât since SG basically hinted to Lena that the only reason sheâs even put in extra effort with her is because of Kara. The words âKara Danvers believes in youâ kind of implies that SG is just looking out for Lena because she trusts Kara and that doesnât necessarily mean that she trusts Lena.
Besides, SG never told her that sheâs working with the DEO (even after Lena killed Jack) or that the DEO even existed so I donât see why Lena, who was arrested by the police for circumstantial evidence, would tell a secret faction of the Government that A) she knows they exist and B) that she has the ability to create Kryptonite.
Like I said before, I donât believe Kyrptonite is an illegal substance to have so legally, Lena has no obligation to tell the DEO she knows how to make it.
Harboring a fugitive is illegal, but itâs not like she was helping her destroy the world. She locked Reign up, which is what the DEO would have done in the first place, but Sam is innocent in all this and Sam gave Lena permission to fix her.
Maybe Lena was worried about SGâs God complex, worried that SG wouldnât listen about splitting Sam and Reign up because SG would take it personally since Reign can kick her ass.
Maybe Lena was just genuinely concerned that the Government would just try to kill or imprison Reign and not waste their efforts because to Lenaâs knowledge (due to Kara not telling Lena about her being SG), Agents of DEO and SG donât have a personal connection to Sam so they wouldnât even try to save her friend.
Anyway, if SG trusted Lena then she should have just talked to her about it instead of basically blowing up at her, making her feel likes sheâs just as bad as the other Luthors, and asking Guardian, who SG knows is her boyfriend, to go and spy on her.
It feels like she was just being petty. I mean, she could have asked Jâonn or Alex to go instead or even herself. But no, it seems like she wanted to really hurt Lena.
I always said that the writers canât separate SG from Kara and apparently Iâm right.
Itâs not fair for SG to expect that Lena would trust her so much when she hasnât even bestowed that courtesy toward Lena, especially as Kara. Sheâs let her into her circle yet Lena had been the only one who didnât know sheâs SG. And yes, Sam doesnât know either but Sam doesnât really count because she just met her and was just shoehorned in the group this season in order to create this drama that doesnât even really fit in with S2 characterization of Kara, who even after seeing the video of Lena having Kryptonite still believed her friend was innocent.
And damn Kara, Lena saved Alexâs life. If that isnât enough to earn your trust for you to tell her youâre SG, then you should have never tried to be her friend. She shared some personal stuff with you and you know the girl has a hard time trusting people because everyone hates her for something her family did.
Karaâs just lucky no one found out that her parents created Medusa. Iâm pretty sure aliens that have family who died from that virus would be hating on her too. Iâm also sure that humans wouldnât be too keen on calling SG their hero if they knew the Daxamites attacked because she wouldnât give up her boyfriend the Daxamite Prince of three months!
Even after freaking Lena killed the so called love of her life for you Kara, you couldnât make the same sacrifice?
Does Lena know all these secrets SG/Kara? I think notâŚ
I think Lena only knows that Kara is Mon Elâs boyfriend but I donât remember Rhea telling her that this could have all been avoided if Supergirl just let her take her son home... I could be wrong so someone refresh my memory.
So I donât think Kara or Supergirl has the right to be so harsh with Lena because she herself, both as SG and Kara has secrets she isnât comfortable sharing. Unless Lena knows that Kara is SG then she wouldnât know all the shitnannigans happened because of Kara⌠But as far as we know, Lena does not know.
As far as we know, Lena is a person who has done a lot of good. The way theyâve set up her character is that sheâs a bleeding heart who tries so hard to undo the damage her family has done. The only difference between her and SG is that she relies on her smarts to get things done while SG relies on her Kryptonian genes.
This version of Kara is a hypocrite. Sheâs selfish and rash but the thing is, sheâs weak and cannot back up her actions. She always has to ask for help and another thing I hate about these versions of the Supers is that theyâre basically asking for blind trust. And that may have worked before, but now things like Red K can be made so I think itâs safe to say that Kryptonite should be a substance thatâs accessible just in case the Supers go on a rampage.
Correct me if Iâm wrong but doesnât Superman know that Batman has access to Kryptonite yet still works with him?
Even if S1 is no longer canon and Red K is no longer a thing, then what if more Kryptonians come to Earth? Because first of all, unlike other versions of Kryptonians, the Arrowverse Kryptonians arenât reclusive.
According to Kara, sheâs been on like twelve planets or something. You canât tell me that when Krypton blew up, there werenât scouts/scientists/military personnel or something that were not in their homeworld... I mean, we know there isnât until the writers bring them over but for Kara/Clark, they should be prepared for moments like these. It already happened once so it could happen again.
What if thereâs not enough Kryptonite? Are people just supposed to depend on the government to save them? National City is in America so the people, even people like Lena, have the right to arm themselvesâŚ. and there is a thing called Checks and Balances here in the country SG is seeking refuge in.
Itâs honestly unfair for the Supers to expect that the world should just trust that theyâll check and balance themselves.
People donât know them personally after all...
Point is, the writers clearly havenât evolved. Theyâre still tearing down one relationship to build another. Theyâre hitting as many birds as they can with one stone.
They want SuperCorp shippers to stop, they want to legitimize Lames, but most importantly they want Karamel to re-establish their bondâŚ. So theyâre throwing the rock to break the Lena/Kara friendship.
Anyway, with the way this is going I feel like Lenaâs completely going to turn dark. Since Supergirl has been given the Sunday slot the show might suffer from some budget cuts and want to up the ante next season so they can ensure a S5 so maybe James will die, leaving Lena brokenhearted and sheâll blame SG then sheâll find out Kara and SG are the same and thatâll completely drive her over to the dark side.
Or, sheâll find out that Kara and SG are the same and then sheâll get mad at James and all of them.
Or, more likely, that Sam is going to sacrifice herself to end Reign (So that Alex can adopt Ruby because apparently, her biological clock just went boom in S3) and Lenaâs going to get mad, blame SG, find out that Kara is SG, and then get mad at James for helping SG or something like thatâŚ
To sum it up, Lena will be all alone again and sheâll blame SG and thatâs why sheâll turn dark.
Of course, all my points will probably rendered irrelevant because in the end, Lena will probably be evil from the get go and the writers will make it seem like Lena's a mastermind and she's been playing Kara from the beginning so that the audience can't get mad at Kara for treating her 'friend' like crap because she was right and Lena is a villain like all the Luthors.

Letâs talk about: Arrow 5.19
In which Iâm forced to defend Felicity.
After a monthâs hiatus, Arrow has returned. Adrian Chase has been exposed as Prometheus, but heâs escaped, and the entire episode revolves around Felicityâs acts of desperation conflicting with the higher moral ground that Oliver has decided to occupy this week.
First off, shout out to Dinah Drake, who didnât have a whole lot to do but worked what she got.
So anyway, as I mentioned, the dramatic tension of this episode revolves around Oliver v. Felicity (or Oliver and Diggle v. Felicity) with a little bit of Diggle v. Lyla thrown in there at the end. I should say that my feelings about Felicity throughout the course of the series has been conflicted at best. When she was basically a vehicle for âwittyâ one-liners and double entendres, I mostly rolled my eyes and ignored her. When she was elevated to romantic lead and Supreme Goddess, I hated her. And yet for most of season 5 Iâve ping-ponged back and forth between ambivalence to maybe, sorta, almost liking her in spite of myself?
And yet throughout the series, regardless of my feelings for the character, I have loathed the paternalism levied on her, levied on every prominent female character, in fact, with perhaps the exception of Sara (I would have to go rewatch S2 to be sure). The entire conversation between Oliver and Diggle had me practically seeing red, as they bemoan Felicityâs descent into that moral gray zone that only they are supposed to enter.
The face I was making, it was kind of like this:
Consider this line of dialogue:
âWe knew she was involved, and we let her get in deeper.â
The entire conversation is framed in this way, as their failure to exercise control over Felicityâs actions. To be clear: itâs perfectly fine to express concern when you think someone is making poor choices, but they did that. Both Diggle and Oliver on separate occasions expressed their concerns to Felicity, and she took note of those concerns and decided to continue on the path she was going down, because sheâs a grown ass woman who can make her own mistakes. It doesnât mean sheâs justified in what she does, she can be wrong! But at the end of the day she is the one responsible for her actions.
To make matters worse, itâs clear this conversation between Oliver and Diggle is not about Diggle taking Oliver to task for failing to exercise control over a team member as the leader of Team Arrow, but for failing to exercise control over her as her ex-fiance!Â
Felicity did look pretty amazing in her heist gear, I must say. It was completely inappropriate for the occasion, and Iâm not sure why you need 3âł wedge heel boots and smoky eyeshadow for a caper, but whatever, she was wearing something other than those glasses and those ugly designer dresses and she looked amazing! That works for you, Felicity. You should go on capers more often.Â
But back to my rant: Sometimes Felicityâs bad choices are just Felicityâs bad choices, and she should be allowed to make them and live with the consequences of making them without being immediately absolved. But the show writers have consistently shown a wariness or inability to give Felicity any kind of moral complexity. She is routinely deified as âthe best of us,â âthe strongest of us,â âour moral voice,â and her questionable choices are always narratively justified or nullified. Her complicity in Susanâs firing earlier in S5 was waved away with a weak âI didnât know what Thea was going to do!â (she asked you to plant leading evidence on Susanâs computer and you didnât know what she was going to do with it? I thought Felicity was supposed to be some sort of genius!) It makes for a character who, when you get down to brass tacks, is pretty boring, who isnât allowed anything by way of character growth. The scrapes and bumps she must heal from are always inflicted from the outside; her problems are never hers, sheâs a victim of the mistakes of others.
For whatever reason, the writers canât stop themselves from tripping over themselves to elevate her, even with awkward throwaway lines like the one from Diggle in this episode:
âFelicity Smoak is one of the best people Iâve ever known.â
Itâs weird, the way other characters talk about her. I have some very close friends who I love with all my heart, but I donât think I have or would ever appraise them in quite that way, surely not in a pseudo-argument with my spouse (especially since Diggle was basically saying âIf even Supreme Goddess Felicity could go darksided, then oh god you, my wife, it could definitely happen to you.â) And this is far from the first time that other characters have talked about Felicity in a way that is entirely unique, that is not found in the way characters talk about any other character. Itâs like an edict from on high; every now and then the Powers That Be must possess someone and use them as a mouthpiece to remind the audience that this is a good character and we love her, OK?Â
This was also true about Oliver and Felicityâs relationship when it was getting off the ground and/or in full force, by the way. Diggleâs descent into the king of Olicity shippers was just weird, but even that pales in comparison to Laurel shipping Olicity on her deathbed. Why do we need everyone to love and endorse this relationship, this character? It suggests a lingering, uncomfortable insecurity in the writerâs room, a fear that they canât adequately convey how good and right this relationship or that character is without having it explicitly reinforced by anyone and everyone.Â
And letâs talk about Lyla for a second. Unpopular opinion: I hate Lyla.
I know, Digg. But hear me out. In a meta sense I have never warmed to Lyla. She was introduced as a replacement for Diggleâs S1 love interest, who we never saw or heard from again, and she eventually became Amanda Wallerâs ARGUS replacement. Thatâs two black women that Lylaâs stepped in the shoes of, taking their place in the narrative. Iâm not trying to draw anything from two data points, Iâm just saying itâs enough to give me pause.
Amanda Waller was not a good person. Her decisions as the head of ARGUS werenât even morally questionable, they were often morally wrong, yet in spite of that, Team Arrow worked with ARGUS on a number of occasions for their own ends (and, again, going back to Felicity, I canât blame her being frustrated for being told she canât follow the teamâs general âends justify the meansâ ethos because sheâs been placed on a pedestal as the teamâs moral beacon). In this episode Diggle expresses dismay about Lyla becoming âlikeâ Amanda Waller, but what? Excuse me? Wasnât she always complicit, if not outright involved in some of Wallerâs questionable leadership decisions? Lyla wasnât some powerless lackey, she was fairly high up in ARGUS even before Wallerâs death. She chose to be there, she chose to act in concert with Waller, and Team Arrow often benefited from those choices. Theyâre all hypocrites.
This episode maybe (for me, hopefully) has sewn the seeds of the dissolution of Diggle and Lylaâs marriage. At the very least, itâs a problem that will doubtless linger. Early in the episode when Lyla takes a piece of evidence for ARGUS, the camera lingers on Dinahâs disapproving expression. This suggests to me that there is some merit that perhaps theyâre going to explore Diggle and Dinahâs relationship to some extent. How do I feel about this? I donât know. Iâm happy to have Diggle do something other than act as Oliver and Felicityâs cheerleader, Iâm happy for him to finally take a stance against his wifeâs dubious actions, so Iâm certainly interested to see where this is going. But I fear for Dinah if she devolves into Diggleâs arm candy.
The B-plot is Quentin âHossâ Lance ignoring Reneâs boundary-setting by taking it upon himself to summon Reneâs daughter for an impromptu, surprise meeting, which ends with Reneâs renewed commitment to getting his daughter back.Â
I get that this plot is supposed to be heartwarming, but Quentin bowls through Reneâs concerns due to his fresh grief over losing his daughter. To Quentinâs credit, heâs doing remarkably well for someone whoâs managed to lose his two daughters THREE times, but sometimes the best thing you can do for someone is recognize that youâre not good for them, and if Rene truly feels that he isnât good for his daughter, then itâs a good thing that sheâs in a more stable environment. Letâs not forget this is a guy who runs around in a hockey mask and carries a gun; he may not be passing out drunk, but I still have some serious concerns about his ability to provide a stable environment. And for Quentin, itâs not even about Rene--not really. Itâs about Quentin vicariously living through Rene, because he misses Laurel.
And finally, there were at least three references to Curtisâs âlawyer friend.â This is a strange turn of phrase to be repeated multiple times throughout the episode. Not âCurtisâs friend, whoâs a lawyer,â not âa lawyer Iâve been put in touch with, thanks to Curtis,â but Curtisâs Lawyer Friend. Curtisâs Lawyer Friend. Curtisâs Lawyer Friend. Is this alluding to something (someone)? Or is is just strange dialogue? The writing on Arrow is so uneven that itâs difficult to distinguish when theyâre attempting to signal something and when theyâre just writing sloppy dialogue. Is âCurtisâs Lawyer Friendâ supposed to ping something? I honestly canât recall if weâve got any relevant lawyer characters waiting in the wings; personally, Iâd love for âCurtisâs Lawyer Friendâ to be Damon Matthews, but again, maybe they werenât attempting to signal a new, incoming character. Maybe Reneâs lawyer will, forevermore, simply be known as âCurtisâs Lawyer Friend.â Maybe thatâs his actual name. I donât know. âTil next week, which looks like a bottle episode.

Hello! I want to get into watching the Office because it seems really good and I loved Parks and Rec, but everytime I start watching I can't make myself continue. The first few episodes are just like... the punchline that everyone is racist just happens too often for me to swallow. Is there a point where I can start watching where the writers kind of leaned away from this or should I just tough it out?
Hi! So, this is going to be a long answer, and I hope thatâs all right, haha. As someone who loves both The Office and Parks and Recreation (though I actually like The Office a bit more, even though I think Parks & Rec is more consistent across the seasons in terms of quality), I have a lot of thoughts on both.
So, hereâs the thing:
Although The Office and Parks and Recreation were created/produced by the same guy (guys? I know that Michael Schur for sure worked on both, though I think there was one other person working on both as well), theyâre very different in tone. Whereas Parks and Recreation tends to be more optimistic and idealistic (in that even when things go wrong for the cast in the short-term, in the long-term theyâre almost guaranteed to succeed, and even when thereâs squabbling and bickering, for the most part the characters tend to be optimistic, and idealism---particularly Leslieâs idealism---is rewarded), The Office tends to be more caustic and cynical. Things very often donât succeed for these characters in the short-term (long-term projects donât happen as often, and even then there are a few big long-term failures), and theyâre much, much more prone to being snarky and cynical. Additionally, whereas snark and cynicism are often âpunishedâ on Parks and Recreation (in that the cynics are usually proven wrong/converted to idealism, again, usually by Leslie), this isnât the case on The Office. Not only is The Office a world of snark, but since things donât tend to magically work themselves out on The Office due to it arguably being a more realistic setting (I mean, Pawnee, Indiana isnât even an actual city that exists, whereas The Office takes place in the very real Scranton, Pennsylvania), cynicism isnât punished here because having a more idealistic outlook---particularly without the experience or power necessary to back it up---is more likely to backfire than it is to succeed. (i.e., although Michael very often wants everything to magically work out . . . it usually doesnât.) And thatâs not to say that The Office is a depressing show where everyone always loses, because thatâs not true, but it is to say that while the antagonists on Parks and Recreation are caricatures of people rather than opponents that actually exist (and as such our idealistic protagonists can more easily overcome them), the problems and antagonists on The Office are more grounded in reality and, as such, reality tends to ensue.
So with that said, I first want to address something you said about the early episodes, which is here:
âThe first few episodes are just like... the punchline that everyone is racist just happens too often for me to swallow.â
I actually find it interesting that this is your viewpoint, because my opinion is that The Office, as a whole, actually tends to show this attitude in a negative light!
The episode I think youâre mainly thinking of happens in season one, and itâs episode two (I believe)---âDiversity Day.â In it, corporate has sent an ethics counselor to the Scranton branch of Dunder-Mifflin (where our main cast is employed) to give a diversity seminar because Michael, the boss, imitated a Chris Rock routine and was rather ignorantly racist while doing so. Michael, of course, hates the idea that anyone but him could be in charge (and is also too ignorant to realize exactly how and why he was being racist), and as such he not only ruins the seminar, but then proceeds to make everything more offensive by having âdiversity activitiesâ throughout the day. This culminates in him being slapped for real by Mindy Kaling, who was playing Kelly Kapoor.
Now, with that being said, I can understand why that would be hard to swallow! Itâs not easy to see a character acting like that. But the thing about The Office is that weâre not supposed to be laughing with Michael, or sympathizing with him; itâs very intentionally framed (in my view, anyway) that he is in the wrong when he does things like this. We see this via the more heroic characters in The Office finding what heâs doing wrong, offensive, awful, and very often calling him on it (especially as the series goes on). For instance, in âDiversity Day,â itâs clear that no one there really approves of what heâs doing. Theyâre all going along with it because they have to, but while there are some characters who do hold bigoted viewpoints as well (e.g. Dwight and Angela, who are also not shown in a heroic light, especially at that point in the show), the characters that weâre meant to sympathize with (e.g. Jim, Pam, Oscar) donât agree with whatâs going on, and usually say so. (e.g. Pam says, âBased on stereotypes which are not true and that I do not agree with . . .) So in this case, itâs not, âhaha, racism is funny!â but more, âmy god, this guy is such an ignorant ass, and yet there are people like him out there, and people like these office workers who have to suffer through it.â
And thatâs the thing: Parks and Recreation has a lot less of that (once they stop trying to have Leslie be Michael near the end of S2---because she made quite a few ignorant/racist comments toward Tom in the first two seasons), but it was also more of an idealistic show. The Office shows that people have prejudices, bigotry, et cetera, but always in a negative light. Weâre never supposed to sympathize with Michael when he makes comments like that, and weâre certainly not meant to sympathize with disgusting characters like Todd Packer (who I believe is introduced in S2, but he might make an appearance in S1). Granted, Packerâs scenes are never funny to me regardless, but he is important to show Michaelâs growth later on, so. Regardless, although The Office does include things like that, theyâre never meant to be the punchline. Itâs not, âlaugh at the racism!â but rather âisnât this awful? and isnât it awful when things like this happen in your workplace? because we know they do, weâre sure of it, even if weâre exaggerating it a tad for comedic effect.â Especially later on, that sort of behavior is always framed as wrong.
WITH ALL OF THAT SAID! (I told you this was going to be a long response, haha, I have a lot of feelings.)
Just like how Parks and Recreationâs first season was so horrible that even the cast denounces it (âDonât bring up those shitty episodes!â said Aziz Ansari during a cast panel), itâs pretty much agreed upon that the first season of The Office is the weakest season as well, due largely in part to the producers trying to create the British original. In fact, the first episode is pretty much a shot-for-shot remake of the British original. In season two, however, they break away from the U.K. formula and become their own thing, and from then on itâs pretty much unanimously decided that the U.S. The Office surpasses that of the British original. The characters become fleshed out, the storylines become deeper, and overall the show vastly improves.
So, with all of that said?
I do still recommend toughing it out through the first season since itâs only six episodes long, and there are some great little subplots in the first season as well (such as Jim and Dwightâs alliance). Plus, there are a few nuggets of plot in the first season that continue into the second (such as Jimâs temporary girlfriend, Katy). But if youâre having trouble with the first season (and I donât blame you!), then I would recommend skipping the first two episodes (âPilotâ and âDiversity Dayâ). That leaves you with:
âHealth Careâ
âThe Allianceâ
âBasketballâ
âHot Girlâ
The most important episode here is âHot Girlâ (which is the last episode of season one), due to the fact that Katy is introduced in it, and she makes reappearances in season two. That said, I think the others are worth watching as well. âHealth Careâ has some great shenanigans in it, shows how ineffectual Michael is as a boss/how desperate he is to be liked, and is good for Jim/Pam content; âThe Allianceâ has the hilarious subplot of Jim and Dwightâs alliance, which, trust me, is more hilarious than it sounds; âBasketballâ does have more of Michaelâs ignorance (heâs ignorant a lot, itâs a marked character flaw, but heâs never rewarded for it and he develops through it as time goes on), but I feel that itâs still important for Jim/Pam content; and âHot Girlâ is necessary for reasons started above.
All of that said, again: There is a noticeable quality jump from the very first episode in season two, âThe Dundies,â which is where some of the most notable quotes from the show come from (e.g. âI feel God in this Chiliâs tonightâ). So if you really want to you can skip straight to that, but I recommend at least watching âHot Girlâ first, as well as the others noted in the bullet list.
Again, sorry this is so long, but please feel free to ask for further clarification! The Office is definitely one of those shows, I think, that has a certain tone to it that can be a bit hard to get used to---but I also think itâs really worth it, and it does have its successes and moments of idealism as well. (In fact, the series ends with one of the most hopeful quotes imaginable (âThereâs a lot of beauty in ordinary things. Isnât that kind of the point?â), so there is definitely some hope there. Thereâs just also a lot of, well . . . snark, too, haha.)
