ugh god it's so hard to pick favorites when it comes to drawing ygo characters... every time i draw someone new i find a new way to do a little something with the design and that's a big part of the puzzlebox fun for me. once i get a good stylization going on a character theyre just locked in my brain as a fav to draw lol. THINKING HARD ON IT THOUGH. HMMM i think my top three favorites to draw are:

Yubel: i dont draw them Too often but i always have so so much fun drawing them, they have so many little design quirks that are such a treat to draw. and i love giving them little fangies <3

Aporia: NATURALLY. i must be true to my heart i absolutely love drawing this monster robot angel. I love pushing his monstery traits into something more animalistic and wild. i love getting crazy with his symbolism and motifs. he is probably my Top favorite to draw BIG SURPRISE I KNOW.

this third spot i think changes and shuffles out often depending on whoever happens to be chewing a hole in my brain at the moment. It's definitely Vector sometimes, especially since he ALREADY LOOKS LIKE DANA FROM ANOTHER DIMENSION DREW HIM!!!! and it is also Primo sometimes too i always have so much fun drawing my pitbull. but i also need to be real it may actually be sora of all characters. especially the way i stylize him. little fat kid i love you.

it's the great pumpkin sam winchester has the honor of having one of the opening scenes that i simply cannot watch. i cannot watch that man with razor blades in his mouth, just like i cannot watch that woman's teeth fall out in malleus malificarum

dean's "hot cheerleader" comment in this episode deserves its own essay on dean's ideas about gender and gender roles and sexuality. why would you want to come back as a hot cheerleader dean. why. what interests you about that.

i love cas and his autistic swag. a lot of people interpret this scene between sam and cas as cas being mean to sam. objectively this is the more humorous take, but i just don't believe it. cas doesn't KNOW sam at this point! all he knows is that sam has demon blood, and that's what he says--he's making conversation! what's more important is that cas takes sam's hand in both of his. he doesn't cringe away from sam! he doesn't treat him like he's dirty! cas is willing to touch sam and smile at him.

also, absolute GOD TIER move to introduce uriel with his back to the room. AMAZING, SHOWSTOPPING

I want to talk about BoyNextDoor

This group debuted under KOZ Entertainment, Zico's label in HYBE, on May 30, 2023 and all six boys were already beasts.

Every song they've released has been S-class tier, in my opinion. Finger-licking good pop rock music with an oldies bend to it, god-tier choreography with that emphasis in performance quality that HYBE groups are known for, and frankly adorable, sweet personalities to boot. The boys have real chemistry and are legitimately talented. I'd say almost at the stage BTS were at debut. Though I could be biased.

Anyway, I think to understand what BND is, you first need to understand who Zico is.

There's no other rapper that best exemplifies the funky gutter musicality of khh than Zico. It's groove with an edge to it. Easy swag paired with barely contained energy. That's what drives Zico's flow and rhythm in his songs and dancing style. Zico is the artist all the male idols you know are bumping to in their dorms. He's not a saint, he's simply the best at what he does IMO. And it's clear all six members of BND adore him, look up to him, and are aiming to do their best to not let him down. And I find that sweet as hell.

BoyNextDoor is what happens when Zico does 'cute'. It's bright, gritty, fun, and funky at the same time.

Plus, their music and choreography is straight flames. I won't bore you with text. Listen and watch it for yourself. Find somewhere comfortable to sit and pay attention please.

That was all from their debut single album and all three songs are outstanding releases. BND is easily the best debut group or rookie in 2023 though Kiss of Life is a very close second. Their 1st comeback was on September 4, 2023 and again there isn't a single skip (although Crying comes close to being one lol).

I love the video and directing style in their MVs. The way they incorporate an actual physical door into their choreographies and MVs, is unique and interesting - BND is one reason I've been able to say that about a k-pop song this year. The boys' vocals are exceptional and perfect for the style of music they're pursuing too. And again, they can actually dance and perform.

The music is untouchable by the way.

oh man okay it's been a couple years since I did a proper hannibal rewatch so this is not going 2 be particularly comprehensive but. there are two different characters in the show who fit the bill.

firstly there's a guy called randall tier who wants to become an animal and describes feeling that 'the skin he's wearing doesn't fit' wrt being a human... he does end up constructing what can only be described as a 'murder fursuit' out of a cave bear skeleton to kill people in and later after being killed his body is merged with/mounted on the skeleton of a cave bear as a kind of final apotheosis. wild but honest to god not even in the top 10 wildest things that happen in that show. incredible that they just aired this all on cable

the second one is a guy called francis dolarhyde who is a bit more debatable wrt: otherkin swag bc his identification with a dragon (specifically the great red dragon from a painting of the same name by artist william blake) is more portrayed as like. a Dark Side/dark compulsion/different personality (?) than a true aspect of his personal identity but tbh it still qualifies as otherkin swag to me

Loving the new AU that's come out of the asks and specifically Greed's role in it, which just made me remember that actually Greed/Scar is a top-tier shape even though I've no idea how to write a story for them - I just found some really good fanart of them including an NSFW doujinshi that had me thinking😩

Something I find intriguing about Greed/Scar is the idea of them perhaps meeting before Scar begins to actively use alchemy and killing state alchemists (thus blaspheming against God)

We have some time between the murder of Scar's family and Scar's hot girl state alchemist killing spree; given the state of his injuries, he must have spent at least some months more recuperating somewhere in secret (and alone😭😭😭 Kimblee, when I fucking GET you 🔪) and I think it'd be nice in a Greed/Scar scenario if they meet during this short period of time...

...which leads to the idea that's been hounding me and that is Scar, before he loses his name and turns away from God, sharing his name one last time and actually perhaps giving Greed a real human name rather than that of a deadly sin😩

I too come from a culture where names are exceptionally important; we particularly value given names and routinely change our surnames to honour different ancestors - half my older sisters and cousins have a surname derived from a great-grandfather, but I and my younger cousins have a surname derived from a grandfather because we were born after his death

(Yeah, it's an actual nightmare when we travel abroad for any reason because one family shouldn't have this many surnames for seemingly arbitrary reasons, but it's a nice way to honour the dead so we keep doing it😤)

And I just really like the idea of something nice happening to Scar once - like being treated with some respect and caring after the extermination - and Greed not only gets to interact with a person unassociated with F*ther's government, but he himself is humanised when Scar bestows unto him a name

I also like the idea of Scar back in his priestly days helping parents pick names for their children by consulting holy texts, religious tales, and classical Ishvalan poetry for inspiration🫶 I think his own parents put a lot of care naming him and his brother, so he's just as careful when naming newborn babies (or a swagged-up homunculus fhjshd)

Whoa hey, anon, what's this about nsfw Greed/Scar? 👀👀👀 Only group/artist I know who does nsfw Greed/Scar doujins is Huujin (Shoshinsha Man), and from there I've only managed to find only one of their Greed/Scar-specific comics uploaded anywhere. They've definitely got waaaay more than the one tho, from the covers of their non-uploaded works I've seen. So if you've got the hookup to more art or doujins, I'd love the links pls <3

All that being said: Greed/Scar, it's a good ship! Underrated as hell, as most anything to do with Scar is, unfortunately.

I often think about what each version of Scar had to go through upon recovering from their injuries and the fresh trauma they had suffered too. Going into hiding would be unfortunately necessary given the animosity of both Amestrians and the surrounding nations against Ishvalans. In the chaos of Amestris' bombardment, with Ishvalan survivors scattering to whatever (highly relative) safety they can find, Scar may not have had much luck encountering other Ishvalans. He must have been utterly alone that entire time. Let alone how long the recovery could take, given the lack of supplies refugees are forced to contend without, and the injuries almost everyone has suffered. Besides, given the horror of his brother's arm and the evidence of alchemy writ across its flesh, I doubt Scar would want to stick around with any Ishvalan camps he may have managed to encounter on his journey westward. And self-ostracization is a lousy salve for so many wounds. Factor in the concussion from the explosion, and he would be out of commission for awhile.

Hiding as a derelict in Amestris' back alleys in that time, before he decides to (and can) take action against the murderers who live cushy lives in the country he's been forced to roam; he's a vagabond, travelling between towns, districts, and regions within Amestris, surviving but with great difficulty. It's all a haze, seeing as nowhere is safe. Everything is alien, and somatic pain governs his more base decisions. Scar could easily have ended up in or around Dublith; Greed or any one of his people could have stumbled upon this displaced recluse. (Unless you're seeing it more like Greed finding Scar while away from Dublith.)

So I agree, it's a ripe scenario for those two to meet. Since Scar hasn't had any violent run-ins with other homunculi, he may feel less fight or flight upon first encounter. Given that Greed is witnessing someone grievously wounded and otherwise despondent, I doubt he would react with any kind of animosity. He has a soft spot for society's rejects.

Any opportunity to access shelter, food, clean water, and other basic amenities while in recovery would be extremely useful for Scar. Even if the company that comes with it might chafe against his acute philosophies. I can see Greed almost being pushy about the arrangement: perhaps he's being unwittingly generous, or he may be jumping on the opportunity to add yet another member to the Devil's Nest. His grandstanding about his own Sin-as-Self motto and all that he desires would clash so nicely with Scar's former dedication to living within a tight moral framework. But how does that discordance affect the active erosion his religious fortitude? Having survived a genocide would be more than enough to follow through on the blasphemy he will enact in retribution for his murdered loved ones. But what potential effect would being around Greed have in all of this?

Oough, this is just *chef's kiss*! The ingredients here can make a dish so tasty. But the coup de grace you have here? The sharing of Scar's original name before shedding it, feeling just safe enough with this bizarre, grandiose man with teeth too sharp and ambitions too preposterous, who offered him care when he was at his lowest? And Scar feeling that Greed's name is inadequate for the more endearing qualities this man (this homunculus) possesses, so he mulls over a new name for him? And gives it to him? And Greed's reaction to all of this, how maybe he initially finds the whole thing odd and unnecessary. "Don't you know what I am? I'm Avarice embodied!" But Scar won't entertain this chicanery. He offers the new name to him as thanks and with the assurance that he cannot reduce someone who had shown him so much hospitality as a walking sin. Not when Scar has experienced Amestris' greatest acts of extreme violence. Greed, the individual, is some of the good that survives in this land.

Would Scar still honour the homunculus this way, if he had known that Greed's very existence stems from the central point of this imperial machine? Greed of course knows this, he knows the truth, but this former monk is so certain of him, of some value Greed never bothered to assess himself (or didn't want to, or couldn't, not when he's one persona amongst 6 other malevolences)- Scar talks about the significance of a name, how it can be cherished, that it need not be given freely if he doesn't wish it. Whatever he chooses to do with this gift, it's his if he should find need or solace in it. And maybe Greed does. And maybe bearing the death of this wounded man's birth name, uttered one last time before being buried, the burial itself a symbol of nascent Sin. An exchange: one briefly absolved of their Sin, the other newly embodying Sin. And, and an,d- 🥺

You just had to hit me with the description of Scar's previous priestly duty regarding names and how he refers to a variety of literature and holy texts! So many people would grow up with these thoughtful names he had helped select! Some who had survived the massacres continue to hold those identities dear, his labour of care for Ishval's young extending far beyond Amestris' grasp. While those who remain carry the memories of those Scar may have once christened who had been lost to the slaughter- My heart 😭

It's good to see Vriska interact with him. There was a way that Eridan & Vriska fit, personality wise, that we have only seen a small bit of in Homestuck proper.

Seeing Doc Scratch again after all this time is really cool!

The fact that it's actually him, not a hybrid with Lord English, or anything else, is actually selling the whole creepiness more.

That Doc Scratch takes over the control of the whole scene is, in hindsight, to be expected.

But that he uses it to push Vriska's buttons so, really wasn't. As was the fact, that apparently this was the "proper" way to have this happen, as the Point counts it as another successful hell tier cleared!!! :(

I thought Doc Scratch would have lorded (heh) it over Vriska, that she wasn't capable of defeating Lord English in the end.

But it went a far more darker route.

Vriska really had the worst authority figures involved with her upbringing & adoloscence, hadn't she?

So, somewhere in the Plot Point there is a timer to show how long she's been in there, according to Doc Scratch. Or, well, it can be used to track how long she's been here. It could also be a timer that counts down, I guess - that's the only kind we've really seen Sburb use in the past, hasn't it?

"You fucked with a 8unch of little kids and 8lew up, then you LOST." Oh man, did he now, Vriska? He achieved everything he set out to do, after all. He summoned LE. Which she may not know about, even if she does know Scratch blew up.

I guess it's interesting to note that this statement could also be interpreted to her conflating Doc Scratch with Lord English. Interpreting it in that light, it makes sense Vriska would like to finish off LE as payback for what Scratch did to her. That she never got to must thus sting a lot.

It might mean that's what the next conversation, implied to be with Davepeta, will be about!

Scratch setting himself up as inescapable and the personification of Vriska's Aspect was quite frankly terrifying.

And it's really interesting to learn that Vriska is in fact so conflicted over her Aspect as cosmological Fate. It might be why she's always been so focused on the Luck/Fortune part of it!

... It's also a good motivator for Vriska to not be AT ALL thrilled to learn what Dirk has been doing. I mean, aside from him putting Terezi under pressure and in duress.

Hmm, but Scratch/Light's talk of Vriska taking his bargains without much resistance is, perhaps, the core of what she must take away. Seeing any outcome as inevitable and not worthy of considering alternatives for is a trap. In the context of Scratch's bargains, it's absolving yourself of blame.

She'll have to learn caution, it's not enough to make progress on interpersonal communication and relating to other people.

Yeah, "Pavlov's dog", the name of her hell tier... You could say she has to watch out for her gut reaction when making choices.

Now, the question is, did Vriska immediately move from the intense conversation with Spidermom, to the next one?

Because oh man, if she did, that was a real doozy and she might have gotten scared out of continuing for a while, here.

Spoiler-free Dawntrail 7.1 review

Story If Dawntrail is a C, 7.1 is a C+. The writing continues to be largely lackluster with a few bits standing out as notably better or worse. There are some questionable story elements but at least they're answering some of the questions left hanging in 7.0. The characters continue to be largely inert and weirdly two-dimensional, with a very few standout moments offering the breadcrumbs I am clinging to until we get some real goddamned meat. God, I miss Natsuko Ishikawa's direct hand in the writing. I get that she got promoted, which is what you want to do with your best talent, but ooof.

Dungeon A-, very fun, a bit silly in places but overall maintains the spooky atmosphere pretty well. Docked half a grade for including my least favorite mechanic on the 2nd boss, but that's admittedly personal.

Alliance Raid A+, fun as hell, challenging while having comprehensible mechanics that you're unlikely to botch more than a couple-three times in the learning process. Got the + for genuinely impressing me. This tier's gear doesn't especially stand out to me- there are a number of ways to get a similar aesthetic in the game already -but it's got nice textures and it's by no means even slightly bad.

Swag A+. Tons of new loot to be had for bicolor gemstones, MGP, Khloe's certificates, acheivement certificates, and from housing vendors. Not to mention the huge amount of new portrait framers' kits. They added a lot of things this patch, and I'm still discovering a lot of them. Very impressed with the effort here.
