i've read lolita at age 14, at age 17, and am reading it again at 20, and it is so harrowing in such different ways at each age. because while i could look at it at fourteen and think 'wow this is fucked up' and look at it at 17 and think 'wow this is more fucked up than i remembered' at 20 i just want to cry and cry and cry and cry and cry

God man. I'm rewatching 2012 (again) and like. I genuinely forgot just how funny and silly the first two seasons are. Like I'm only on episode 6 of season one and I've found something to laugh at at every single episode so far. And the way they really focus on every single character is just. *chef kiss*

They were literally simply teenagers man. They were so silly. The trauma bus is gonna hit them so hard and I am scared for them

I woke up depressed today and now I'm happy after watching three episodes like this show is my coping mechanism even if it'll make me sad later geeze

something something the next season having will as the center of the show and showing parallels of him and henry, but the difference is henry chose to be vengeful, but will chose to be kind. something about how humans, the same kind as brenner or henry, have marked ‘people like will’ to be mistakes, freaks, outcasts; showing they dont know any better. but for will, who’s to say he’s bad? why does he have to be the evil one? something something the show telling us the world is going to be saved through his deliberate choice of being kind and good; his friends, his love, his love for mike.

thats the true good. thats what the show’s many themes are about; being able to find the good and diamonds in the rough, despite what the status quo and the hypocrites tell you. will saves the world by being him, regardless of what the world tells him

frankly, the people whose kneejerk reaction to bisan asking for a global strike form the 21st-28th is to say that it takes years to organize a general strike are really unhelpful! no one is saying otherwise, but palestine will be a smoking crater if we all wait for years to do anything - bisan is asking us to do something now. Like are we only supposed to do something if we can do it perfectly??? At some point it’s a valid critique about the work that goes into social movement, and at another point I feel like some people are just trying to absolve themselves from not putting any effort into observing a week of economic inaction.

like idk! I get it, okay! People have bills to pay that don’t magically go away for a strike, we don’t have nearly enough social infrastructure in place to support people to fully stop going to work for a week. But fuck, dude! Stop immediately responding in such a defeatist way! Cut out unnecessary purchases! Try to shop local! Put more effort into promoting Palestinian voices online! Attend a protest, call a local rep, do something!

Really hate that the queer community's response to the creation of a gender trinary (girl, boy, and nonbinary, which is still not all-encompassing) was to... reinvent the binary. We just started grouping all genders into "masc/male-aligned" and "fem/female-aligned" and it's so fucking stupid. Even with the occasional allowance of "neutral/unaligned" it still maintains the binary as the standard. And then they don't let you use certain labels if you don't have the "right" gender alignment. The fuck.
