C&A Research Facilities is one of the cornerstones of the science and medical worlds! They do everything; funding research, manufacturing equipment, and research into the known and unknown in an effort to understand everything. To the public, that is.

Big fan of sorta niche horror games, can easily imagine him starting muttering about how a game’s mechanics were ‘directly taken from’ another game from like forty years ago you’ve literally never heard of. Probably almost exclusively uses knives and rifles, this man does not know the word "medium" LMAO

Quick time event hater, can’t find the keys quick enough, usually gets messed up. But subsequently, five minutes later, pulls off the juiciest, most amazing tactic you've ever seen.

“I don’t… Really get why they’ve got to mark everything with that ruddy yellow paint, like, I’m not blind…” This is followed by him repeatedly walking into zombies because ‘the brightness is too low’ TAKE YOUR SUNGLASSES OFFFF

Would definitely go out of his way to set the mood, assuming you guys are playing in his camper, probably on his TV (i love the 1970s let’s just play pretend…), he’d have all the lights off, and maybe a candle on, would probably play spooky music on his phone and almost shit himself when an ad plays.

Would have the time of his life, honestly, a night in playing games with you would probably be a great way to top off his day, but he definitely suggests some spooky games you guys could play outdoors, flashlight tag being top priority (he thinks it's funny as hell chasing you around in the dark)

^^ Absolutely a controller player, if the game doesn’t support a controller, he’s probably not playing. (He likes knowing that if he gets mad enough, he’s got an easily Throwable Item at hand /j!! He'd just find it way easier, less buttons to mess around with.)

He is definitely gritting his teeth waiting for jumpscares the ENTIRE time, especially if you decide to play a more atmospheric game. He's wincing when he has to walk around a corner,

Would absolutely be sloooowly shuffling up against your side, he’s not scared, no, what? No, definitely not scared, man! He’s the coolest Bostonian this side of… not Boston! Shaddup!

Completely misses almost EVERY quest objective, but is adamant that he knows what he's doing at all times. Eventually, after half an hour of him searching for an item, you have to vaguely guide him towards it.

If the game has weapons, you best believe that if there's a bat, he's using it, but will also rant if it breaks. "Wh- Whaddaya mean it broke in like... uh- Three swings?! That's DUMB! Chapter 11

February

For two and a half months, Steve’s life goes perfectly. He didn’t realize how far into a pit he’d fallen until Eddie showed up to help Robin and the kids lift him out, but the difference is jarring. Golden hour sunlight after catching a matinée.

Steve spends two months blinking.

He sloughs off his sadness like a snake shedding skin; spends the winter getting back to being Steve, restocks his favorite hair products and restarts his fitness routines — morning runs through the woods, afternoon pick-up games with Lucas and some of his teammates when the weather doesn’t suck. Weightlifting in the evenings because Eddie says he likes how Steve’s arms look when they get a little big, says it’s more fun to pin him down when he knows it’s just for show.

And he tries new things, too, just because Eddie likes them or because the kids think they're cool. He reads a Vonnegut novel. He eats Indian curry. He even learns a song on guitar.

...Sort of.

Eventually.

(Actually, that whole thing goes pretty horribly and takes for-fucking-ever. Eddie spends an afternoon patiently encouraging him and doing his best not to tease while Steve clumsily moves through a beginner chord progression, and then breaks down wheezing when, after the sixth attempt with no improvement, Steve puts the guitar down in a huff and threatens to demote his pinky finger from his hand if it doesn't start cooperating. Eddie laughs so hard he tips face-first into Steve's crotch, and it takes them a sticky-spitty-sweaty half hour to get back to the lesson.)

Anyway, he likes the way their lives entangle. As easy as weaving his hands through Eddie’s hair.

He gets invited to band practice; he sits in on D&D. Sometimes he watches sports with Wayne when he's got a day off, then he heads out with Eddie for long joyrides through the countryside.

Eddie blasts his metal music when they get out to the backroads, and he talks too loudly over the bass and laughs even louder and rants about nothing and smokes cigarettes while he headbangs to his favorite guitar solos — almost lights his hair on fire on more than one occasion, fucking dumbass — and he does this silly, lewd shit that makes Steve's chest just ache. Makes it clench around the word that's been burning a hole in his tongue since New Year's Eve. Eddie wags his brows and palms himself through his jeans and asks if Steve wants to take another joyride when they get home, and Steve thinks:

God, I love you.

I love you.

How could I not love you?

And really, how could he not? And how much longer can he keep not telling him so? When it feels like the word is going to burst out of his chest Alien-style any second.

When it feels like Eddie's the reason he even has a home to get to.

Slowly — so slowly, hours spent thrifting and bartering and keeping an eye out for free stuff left out on the curb, even more hours sanding and painting and caulking and sweating to death between trips to the hardware store — they redo Steve's whole trailer. Floor to ceiling, wall to wall, they exorcise the haunted tin can. They make it his; they make it theirs.

Eddie injects life into every inch of the space, fills it with weird art and funky lamps and a big, comfy leather couch that he likes to bend Steve over. Comes inside him in every room when they get done working on it as a reward; gasps in Steve's ear about how he always wants to be inside him: in his home, in his body, nestled deep inside his heart. "Keep me right here, baby," he breathes as he fucks Steve against a wall, his left hand gripping Steve's chest while he fills him from behind.

It’s perfect.

It's perfect.

Everything is beautiful and nothing hurts unless Steve asks.

And then, because this godforsaken town and everyone in it are fucking cursed, one day it isn’t anymore.

Do you respond to comments? uh, sometimes? I usually respond to comments that come in shortly after I've posted. Otherwise, I tend to have a burst of energy every now and then and leave a heap of replies that can be summarised as "lol this is 3 years late, but thanks for your comment ilu!!!" I've caught up on comments on everything, pretty much, apart from my four H/D longfics. I probably won't go back and reply to everything on those, because I suspect it would take me a full working week 😅

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? My ends range from happy to extremely, extremely happy, haha. Even the one fic that has an open ending I view as happy, because it leaves the characters in a really good place where it's pretty obvious (to me, at least!) that everything is going to go beautifully well.

Oh! I did write an origfic take on the Bluebeard fairytale once, Jam Tomorrow, which has a less straightforward ending? This is the only time I've ever tried second person pov, and it's a more experimental/literary-style fic than is usual for me. I was really happy with it!

What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending? What a difficult question 😂 For non-H/D, I'd say Best Nightmare Come True (SK8, matchablossom) lingers the most in the afterglow, and I think Kyoya Ootori's Guide to Self-Deception for Fun and Profit (Ouran High School Host Club, Kyoya/Haruhi) is pretty lovely.

For H/D, I'd say either Star Quality or The Sleeping Beauty Curse. Though I only exclude Written on the Heart, haha, because the ending is a bit rushed - I think it works well enough and I'm not unhappy with it, but if I hadn't been writing to a deadline oh god I was so late then it might well have been 30k longer, with more aftermath of them fixing the spell.

Do you write crossovers? I was going to say no, but I remembered I did write one once! And Then It Bit Him, a Harry Potter/Petshop of Horrors crossover for the amazing painless_j, who was a really respected and influential reccer back in the day. I think it has Snape's animagus form being a worm 😂

I haven't reread Petshop of Horrors, for years! It's a light horror manga series, with a Japanese nature god, Count D, who basically sells people animals with rules attached, which they inevitably disobey to their peril. Like the film Gremlins, haha. There's a great ship with him and the local cop, Leon, who's VERY suspicious of him, but who somehow becomes his closest friend against both of their wills. It's not BL but it's very shippable. I loved it, but it's also 20? 25? years old, and Count D is androdgynous leaning towards feminine, while Leon is, er, a cop who's clearly resistant to the idea he might be gay and falling for D, so there's a good chance it has some nasty dated humour lurking in there.

Have you ever received hate on a fic? Maybe a few times a year? It's mostly hate towards the fic rather than hate aimed at me, haha, although sometimes it's both. I usually just ignore it or delete it. If it really, really winds me up, then I reply 'lol', so they know I've read it, and then delete it 😂

I usually consider it positive, in the sense that if I've really wound someone up, then at least I'm making them feel something with my writing, right?! Usually people who leave rants fall into a couple of categories:

They really, really love Draco, and think he's perfect and pure and blameless, and how dare Harry be even slightly shitty to him, Harry is the WORST. At the pinnacle of this, is the lengthy comment that still makes me laugh/grind my teeth about how Harry was abusive to Draco and I was a terrible person for presenting such abuse as romantic. (I mean, that sounds like it could be a hot, fucked up fic 😂 But it's not one I wrote!)

They are OUTRAGED by the unfairness of McGonagall re-sorting Harry into Slytherin in an eighth year fic, rather than the hat doing it, lolol. Have they never considered that the idea of sorting people into school houses based on the goals and personalities they have when they're 11 - and one of the personality types is 'ambitious and evil', while another is 'everyone else' - is a particularly fucking stupid one? That maybe their school house isn't all that important when the kids have grow up, and have fought a war? And that the only thing the houses are actually used for in the books turns out to be dormitory allocations, house points and sporting rivalries?

They are triggered by Harry taking up the arse, when obviously it is Draco's role in life to be ploughed instead

I did not tag for [rimming, a bad joke, that the couple are fifth cousins twice removed so it's INCEST you freak, etc etc]. Strangely, I don't remember ever getting any hate on my actual incest fic, The Evil Devil Child and the Perfect Gift, where Scorpius is a charming teenage psychopath who finds out his dad is hot for Harry, and manages to persuade Al to roleplay Harry/Draco in his mission to get their parents together. It's even filthier and more fucked up than it sounds 😂 I still love this Scorpius with all my soul.

Do you write smut? Maybe?

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Yes. Frequently.

Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes! ❤️ A lot of my fics are in Chinese and Russian, and some in French, and I think a couple in Italian and Spanish too. It's so cool!

Have you ever co-written a fic? Nope. I drive myself up the wall trying to get a fic written. I couldn't inflict that on another person 😂

What’s your all time favourite ship? H/D (yes, I still prefer calling it that to Drarry, lol!)

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? A long time ago I completely failed to finish a Snarry fic I'd promised to someone who'd won an auction :( She was very gracious and understanding, and completely forgave me, but I still feel shitty I didn't come through. I used to love Snarry, but it was a complicated ship for me with competing love and ick feelings, and the pressure got to me so I lost my Snarry mojo completely.

What are your writing strengths? Oh, that's a hard one to answer, but with my self-confident hat on: I think I can write a bloody good love story.

What are your writing weaknesses? Overwriting, for sure - I don't always need to use so many words, or have such long sentences. I overuse italics and ellipses and dashes. If you think my posted fics have a lot of these, you should have seen them before :D

I love an adverb! I replace a lot in editing, because showing rather than telling is so much more effective, but a lot also stay.

I also get stuck on particular words/phrases and repeat them. I try to catch the worst offenders in editing, but in a long fic sometimes you just have to go with it - so please forgive me if you spot I used the word ridiculous a billion times, or someone runs their hand through their hair as a nervous tic a billion times, or whatever.

I also repeat a lot of ideas in fics, though I'm not convinced that's a weakness. If I do reread my fics though, it's pretty obvious what my narrative kinks are though, haha: significant gifts, fireworks, proposals, dining at a fancy restaurant, I could go on.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in fic? Mostly I avoid it - I don't see the point in including foreign dialogue when my reader won't understand it, unless my viewpoint character doesn't understand it either. (And even then, it's risky unless I speak that language - which I don't - because you can guarantee a reader will, and they'll lol at your ropey Google translate attempt.)

What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to? I have plenty of ships I haven't written anything for yet, but nothing I'm actively longing to write - if I was, I would have already started something.

What’s your favourite thing you’ve ever written? Oh, that's mean. I'm proud of basically 99% of everything I've written. I think maybe my favourite H/D is Star Quality - I think it's the best paced and plotted, and there's something about pop star Draco covered in glitter that feeds my soul 😂 Plus I love the journeys they both go on in terms of coming to terms with their sexualities - Harry's self-acceptance of something he was ashamed of, and Draco's bravery in doing what always felt impossible to him and coming out to his parents, because he wanted Harry so much he couldn't stand it any more ❤️

I also adore my Ouran fic. I don't write much het, and I don't usually write teen-rated fics either, but it's quiet, and heartfelt, and somehow the most romantic fic I've ever written. Plus I did a ton of research about Japanese culture so I think it does actually feel relatively Japanese. Oh, and I did a ton of research about Harvard too, where part of the fic is set, and I got a comment from someone asking if I'd been to Harvard too, so I considered that the highest of praise!!!

since i've finally fully plunged into paganism now, i finally got around to sprucing up Apollo's alter 🙏🙏🙏 i'm genuinely so happy

i moved his stuff from a random tin and into an empty altoids tin since i finished all the mints finally .

he has a bandaid (a substitute for the literal antidepressants i wanted to put in there 😭), a yellow citrine palm stone, a yellow sunflower bracelet, a rutilated quartz bracelet, 2 cinnamon mints, a "The Sun" tarot card, and a bay leaf :D

OH AND HE HAS A SODA TAB!!! i put it in his previous altar and i felt bad for taking it away from him. i also had a "The Moon" tarot card in his altar, but i really wanna make Artemis an altar eventually as well, so she'll have her card there <3 i can't light any incense rn w/o anyone asking questions (i'm in a safe environment i just . hate being perceived (ironic for a reality shifter)) sooo i used a baoding ball as a bell and rang it around the altar. does that work for cleansing the same as it does for tarot cards?? i may never know . . /silly

oooh yeas . does anyone want to see it . i am typing this all up on desktop rn and don't feel the desire to figure out adding a photo to this post via my phone. eeeeek!

i absolutely want to print out a picture of him and tape it on the inside, but 1. i'd really have to figure out how big the photo needs to be, and 2. we've been having printer problems saurr,,....

i have like . so many gods i'd love to make an altar for. besides Apollo, i'm severely leaning towards Demeter and Hestia as well. they just feel so familial to me?? i would love to make Hypnos an altar as well. and i also really adore Clotho, Lachesis, Atropos, and Hedone but i haven't seen anyone talk much about them so far, but that doesn't mean i can't make them some sort of.. something.. right?

for all my info, i've been watching this video over the course of the last few days (i'm literally only like a few minutes into the first hour of the video LMFAO but i digress . after this video, i feel like i'll be fairly confident in my knowledge of the gods, but the learning phase is never over, in any case. i also really want to look into norse pagan gods, slavic pagan gods, and luciferianism!!! i saw someone on the #rodnovery tag the other day talking about Marzanna and . i am obsessed and need to know everything about her as soon as possible. she is like . idk i've always felt deeply intertwined with winter and oh my goodness . sobs

Last Movie: Don't remember. I think it was "Ne Zha"? It's definitely well made in terms of animation. But I can't get rid of a feeling that it was created with intention to make it appealing for generic western audience. either that, or I just hate fart jokes lol

Last Game: PC: "Dark Souls Remastered". Very soothing, very relaxing. Smartphone: "Usagi Shima". Very soothing, very relaxing.

Last TV Show: "Severance" and "Reset" (TV Series) Can recommend the last one if you like time loops. Can recommend the first one. End of the thought.

thanks for the tag! @harmshake a little lumberjack!roman i’ve been slowly chippin away at, i have no clue when this will be ready to post but i dont know, maybe its worth a share of what i have so far

his beer is cold. wet glass slipping against his skin. a crisp hoppy taste on his tongue that settles till his belly excites with warm. the ache in his hands seeking a temporary remedy, holding to the chill of the bottle. thick fingers working with a diligent memory of axes and chainsaws. an all day affair thats old and tedious. the smell of walnut and oak and maple, chips of fly away wood and the hard sun. a good cold beer after a hard day was a must. mandatory. so friday's meant a beer plus two extra. but never four because jey always overdid shit and he had to be the dad of the group. had to take care of baby boy jey. and sometimes seth. and sometimes dean. because dean loved to play and fuck around, car keys jingling between the saucy slip of his fingers, feigning the mind of a sober man and the reckless lust of a drunk one. cackling and teary eyed, because panic about roman's face was just so fucking funny.

lucy's is a town bar. built dead center and extremely assessable. and lucy's has everything. karaoke for jimmy & jey, darts for seth and solo, pool for dean, and nice comfy worn leather booths for roman. his favorite booth on the far left side of lucy's, tucked up against the wall. equidistant from the bathroom set behind the karaoke stage and the bar. where his quiet half sleepy eyes could roam and observe. a little people watching as he sips the gold-ish brew. nibbling at almost soggy nachos and pulling loose the tight knot holding his hair. oak wood from day labor soaking through the inky thickness of it. listening to dean and seth complain about management. because if they weren't at work, they were off the clock rambling and ranting about work. a cyclic state of affairs that started and ended the same way.

first seth. that half snarly little grimace. hair rolled up in a top bun. voice raspy and raw.

"...because how the fuck are you never actually in office and thee greatest-most idiotic micro manager ever, he needs to pick a damn struggle...

and then dean. his finger running to scratch against his auburn beard. just as pissed. words slightly slurred.

"...and then had the absolute gaul to tell me how to do my job. that piece of shit prick never held an axe or a chainsaw in his damn life. goddamn third generation wood chippin dick..."

and roman laughs. his eyes wrinkling. sipping and chewing and falling into the recurrence of every friday night.

"...and his little assistant, who he's totally nailing by the way, i hear her screeching like a damn banshee whenever he's actually in office, had the nerve... the unmitigated nerve to send around a birthday card asking for small donations and to write him a message..."

and dean cackles. gasps from disbelief and leans into roman's shoulder. his forehead banging lightly into the wood of the table. empty beer bottles rattling from his show of contempt.

"...boys i swear, i promise the two of you, they both can get an expedited shipment of my fat cock to suck dry if they think i'm putting two of my very hard earned dollars into a target card for his birthday. his pops should've kept him swimmin in his balls..."

roman smiles. his eyes roaming about lucy's. towards the peace of the bar. his favorite little bartender hard at work. smiling and mixing away.

and here comes the turning over into the second bit of his friday night cyclic affair. a from afar trailing of the eyes, sneaky bouts of admiration sweetened by the beer fizzling his blood. and God do you look sweet. a friendly toothy little smile that piques his curiosity. plush lips, round eyes and fanning lashes that leave you looking delicate. he's unsure though, it could be the beer, the droning of the bar and the exhaustion in his shoulders. tight and soldering to his bones. it all could be feeding his mild delusions. making you look more angelic than you could be, a projection of dreams born from some long avoided longing. and when you finally commit yourself to seeking out the source of such an ardent sensation only the eyes of another can give, you meet him. a glass in your hand and curiosity about your face. so clearly in bartender mode. gauging patron based needs, before the inevitable look away. your lips bitten and a smile threatening to break.

but it never becomes anything more than this tit for tat of a moment. lingering eyes and unspoken things.  something threatening to edge the course of friendly and cautious. your smile seeming to only do him a favor. a courtesy. because he probably wasn't the first man to have such a silent high school adjacent crush on his local bartender and he for sure wouldn't be the last. and no one will ever hear him say it but roman isn't too keen on rejection. he rather live with your cautious little smiles. a short tuck away into his back pocket as he sips at his beer. he'll add it to store away for later, when he's alone with silence and the beginnings of bedtime fantasies.

oh god i just watched 50 shades of grey for the first time and it was so horrible and you know what? the entire time i was thinking that this is the exact opposite of what chai writes and what seems much much more enjoyable instead of whatever i watched on tv??? because what the hell??? how hard can it be to have an adult conversation about these things and create a safe space?? anyways sending love and NO recommendations for this movie🙄

LMAO this comment just sent me to space i feel like i've made it. 50 shades is like..... comically badly written yes, but in my personal opinion it's deeply irresponsibly written.

i'm super glad that taking the time to go through all the consent and aftercare feels good reading my work, i personally think that part is really hot and intimate and makes intense scenes much better (at least for me as a reader) so i appreciate you saying this!!

also like.... not to go on a rant, but this is why i get the ick so easily with a lot of stuff i read that features harder kinks or d/s dynamics. while my personal irl dabbling into d/s dynamics is like..... not as formal as what 50 shades was going for or with a 'dom' that i don't know (me and my partner do our best to shake things up what can i say) - i feel like you don't have to fully engage in all this stuff to write it responsibly if you're doing your research. i literally just paid for a subscription to a shibari website so i could write that in a way that wasn't ridiculous..... so i really hope when i eventually post that fic it reads well for people too. (are we gonna be doing nerve damage hand checks and mobility exercises??? you fucking bet!!)

sidenote....if anyone wants to read something that handles bdsm dynamics beautifully...... i would really recommend checking out the author rebecca quinn. she has a trilogy book series (ensnared, entangled, entwined - coming june 16) that is a post apocalyptic reverse harem series.... and like..... i really don't read dystopian/post apocalypic stuff very much but this series is GOOD. the plot is engaging, characters are really fleshed out and each of the MMCs are full fledged individuals, it handles things like trauma really well..... BUT the reason i bring it up is because it has the most beautiful and responsible depiction of actual sadism and masochism that i've read in a long time. i honestly can't wait to re-read these before the third books comes out almost entirely for how well they handle the d/s dynamics.... so if you or anyone else wants to read something non-fanfic that's good like that, check these out! def check the triggering tags, but they're available on kindle unlimited and apparently the audio books are incredible too.

I'm hating what's happening to this fandom right now. I love that 911 is getting more recognition but god damn, no one wants this.

I'm gonna rant while trying to keep it neutral from ships (but keep in mind I am ONLY a Buddie fan). (Spoiler alert: I did end up being biased, but I'm still logical and polite)

Regardless of who you ship, remember it is all FICTION. These aren't real people meaning if fans think Eddie is gay or demi and want to include him in a post this month, THEY ARE ALLOWED TOO. You can't judge them for it, and even so, can we all keep in mind why everyone speculated BiBuck. It sure as hell wasn't for how he acted with Chimney or Bobby, and not that one scene with TK.

Furthermore (that made me feel like I was writing an essay), why are people being so nasty? This is a show, meaning entertainment, meaning we should all just be able to enjoy our show regardless of who we ship. I'll be the first to say there rude Buddie and BT shippers and there's peaceful Buddie and BT shippers.

We're supposed to ship who we ship, and be allowed to rant as much as we want, as long as we're nice about it. There's no reason to call fans of either ship delusional or insult them.

So while admitting there's rude fans of both ships, lets me be real here. It's mostly BT fans. Cause come on, some of them want Eddie de*d and Chris to go to BT and some think that they're relationship is so sweet and vulnerable when we've had less that 10 mins. Fine think what you want, but if you're speculating, why can't buddie fans (most of who are respectful and tag their posts/fics correctly) do the same? Why are you feeling so threatened? Them talking about Buddie doesn't mean Tim Minear is gonna choose to do Buddie, and you being so rude and toxic isn't gonna convince him to keep Tommy.

To conclude, I love this show too much to stop watching it, and I love ranting on tumblr too much to stop posting, but damn this hiatus is ugly.
