PSA for any LGBTQ2IA+ people traveling abroad
This is a link to the LGBTQ+ Travel Safety Index
(Disclaimer: These are excerpts from an article I found)
These are some tools to find safe places to travel for LGBTQ2IA+ people:
LGBTQ-specific travel news and safety basics
U.S. State Department ✈ A section of this government-run online resource offers basic pointers for LGBTQ travelers such as travel document checklists, general safety tips, and information about travel insurance and various U.S. embassy locations.
Equaldex ✈ Launched in 2014, this interactive map-anchored website keeps a running tab on LGBTQ rights–related laws around the world via a global network of user contributions.
National Center for Transgender Equality ✈ This Washington, D.C.–based advocacy organization addresses information relevant to gender-nonconforming and transgender travelers. It features a particularly comprehensive guide to airport security that addresses concerns related to potentially intrusive TSA screening procedures.
OutRight Action International ✈ Formerly known as the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission, this nonprofit publishes news, studies, and reports on LGBTQ issues around the world that can help travelers stay informed about safety in various destinations.
Erasing 76 Crimes ✈ Journalist and LGBTQ advocate Colin Stewart heads up this news-oriented blog that spotlights global developments related to LGBTQ rights spanning countries across the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Europe, Oceania, and the Americas.
GoAbroad’s LGBTQ Study Abroad Guide✈ For queer students interested in studying abroad, this PDF provides a wealth of information, including tips for coming out to a host family, LGBTQ-specific scholarships, and a list of queer-friendly study abroad programs.
LGBTQ-friendly accommodations and services
The International LGBTQ+ Travel Association ✈ This website acts as a one-stop-shop for all things related to LGBTQ travel planning. It brings together a massive network of queer-approved hotels, transportation providers, tourism boards, travel agencies, tour operators, event promoters, and local media in over 80 countries worldwide; it also maintains recommendation-based travel and business blogs.
Purple Roofs ✈ An LGBTQ mainstay since the late ’90s, this booking website showcases small, family-owned bed-and-breakfasts, hotels, vacation rentals, inns, and tour companies worldwide. It also hosts a variety of related travel resources, including event listings and a dedicated LGBTQ travel blog.
World Rainbow Hotels ✈ This modern travel directory combines a curated list of stylish, queer-friendly hotels in countries where attitudes toward gay, lesbian, bisexual, and trans travelers are for the most part accepting. The website also features an image-driven blog full of travel inspiration, global news, events, and other articles.
Travel Gayand Travel Gay Asia ✈ These twin booking sites serve a predominantly gay male audience, pointing international travelers to city guides with relevant information about bars, clubs, saunas, shops, beaches, and events, as well as queer-friendly hotels across the globe.
GayCities ✈ A similarly gay male–focused online travel guide, this web resource recommends gay-friendly bars, clubs, restaurants, hotels, shops, gyms, and more in 238 different cities from Cape Town to Mexico City.
In addition to explicitly LGBTQ outlets, you can now find pages dedicated to LGBTQ consumers on mainstream online travel booking sites like Expedia and Orbitz. Queer-oriented promotions and packages are also often offered by big-name hotels such as Marriott and Kimpton.
LGBTQ-specialized tour operators and agencies
LGBTQ-friendly tour operators for organized trips
For LGBTQ travelers who’d rather leave trip planning to the experts, award-winning tour operators such as Outstanding Travel, Zoom Vacations, Out Adventures, Toto Tours, Detours Travel, and Concierge Travel all offer a diverse array of international group and private trips. International tour operator R Family Vacations also designs and leads LGBTQ family-friendly trips (plus a few new adults-only options) on land and at sea for public groups and individuals. The queer-run wilderness education organization, The Venture Out Project, operates LGBTQ-specific backpacking trips in the United States for teens, adults, and families.
LGBTQ-friendly cruises
Inclusive travel company Vacaya hosts curated LGBTQ getaways on chartered cruise ships, as well as to all-LGBTQ international resorts. The popular lesbian travel brand Olivia Cruises has been running entertainment-filled cruise, resort, adventure, and riverboat group trips exclusively for queer female–identified travelers since 1990. And cruise company Source Events, which caters predominantly to gay men and their families, organizes both all-gay charters and private LGBTQ groups aboard larger cruise ships (as well as personalized cruise journeys and on-land group itineraries).
Related Free Travel Apps to Download Before Your Next Trip
LGBTQ-friendly travel and networking apps
From joining queer-specific networking groups, to checking for upcoming LGBTQ events in different cities, to starting important conversations about shared experiences through hashtags such as #travelingwhiletrans, LGBTQ travelers have long relied on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter when planning for domestic and international trips. More recently, meetup apps have created new opportunities for connection between LGBTQ travelers.
Apps (available on iOS and Android)
Meetup ✈ This stalwart community-building platform is a great tool for connecting with fellow LGBTQ folks and getting to know local queer scenes on the road. The “LGBTQ Meetups” section points app users toward various happy hours, professional networking events, book clubs, and hiking groups, as well as playgroups for LGBTQ parents.
SCRUFF Venture ✈ Gay dating app SCRUFF recently launched a travel-oriented edition aimed at making it easier to connect with LGBTQ people “before and while you travel.” By clicking into one of the app’s 500-plus destinations, users can view members marked as “visiting now” or “visiting soon” in each given location. The app also provides travel tips from city “Ambassadors” (members who volunteer to give advice and recommendations to visitors), plus updates about LGBTQ issue–related travel advisories.
Refuge Restrooms ✈ This important resource for trans, intersex, and gender-nonconforming individuals maps out safe restrooms in various countries around the world, which users can search for based on proximity to a location.
Related Seeing the World Through Rainbow-Colored Glasses
LGBTQ-focused travel magazines and blogs
Magazines
Out Magazine’s online outpost Out Traveler covers everything from luxury LGBTQ-friendly hotels and nightlife hot spots to the latest must-have gadgets for jet-setters. Passport Magazine, available in both digital and print formats, touches upon a wealth of topics related to LGBTQ travel, with sections devoted to food and drink, hotel reviews, product roundups, and events. Also worth checking out is Connextions Magazine, which compiles long-form hotel reviews, human interest stories, destination guides, and other global lifestyle content relevant to LGBTQ travelers. (The print and digital publication also has a Spanish edition.)
Although not their main focus, many widely circulated LGBTQ lifestyle outlets like the Advocate,Curve, Autostraddle, Diva, and Chill also feature travel-related news, commentary, city guides, hotel reviews, profiles, and more.
Blogs
Touted as “a lifestyle blog for men and other stylish travelers,” the popular blog Travels of Adam hosts op-eds and personal essays, LGBTQ travel tips and hacks, and restaurant, bar, and hotel reviews in destinations from Egypt to England. Married couple Auston and David head up another gay male–focused travel blog called Two Bad Tourists, which features navigating international gay-friendly destinations, festivals, and events.
On the queer female travel blog Dopes on the Road, you can expect to find a wide range of content, from travel diaries and safety tips to pop culture commentary. Beautiful photo galleries, travel journals, LGBTQ profiles and interviews, travel tips, and destination guides dominate Once Upon a Journey, a helpful travel blog from lesbian couple Roxanne Weijer and Maartje Hensen.

Unlocking New Horizons: My International Internship Adventure
Embarking on an international internship is an exciting adventure that blends professional development, cultural exploration, and a sense of adventure. My journey began around November when I decided to look for internship opportunities outside of the Netherlands. My reasons were clear: I sought something enjoyable, challenging, and distinct from what Dutch companies had to offer. I was especially interested in opportunities that would allow me to thrive, particularly in the fields of filmmaking and marketing.
Finding the Right Internship Mediator
The first task at hand was to find a reputable internship mediator. After evaluating various options, I chose the Interim Group due to their extensive services, including top-notch amenities and weekend activities. This was vital as navigating an international internship alone can be quite daunting.
Choosing an internship mediator is a crucial step. These organizations assist with the intricate process of finding an internship, securing a visa, and arranging accommodations. Popular choices include GoAbroad, Internships.com, and AbroaderView. They provide necessary resources and support to make your transition abroad smoother.
Handling Visa Procedures
One of the most stressful parts was dealing with visa procedures. My appointment was scheduled very close to my departure date, causing anxiety over whether I would receive the visa in time. I had to expedite the process, which increased the overall cost but was absolutely necessary. I also needed to navigate the complex maze of Dutch and American health insurance regulations and secure travel insurance. The regulatory hurdles were extensive; if you’re facing similar issues, consider starting the application process as early as possible to avoid last-minute difficulties.
Visa procedures can be particularly complicated. Always research the specific requirements for your destination country and allocate sufficient time for the application process. If the process becomes too challenging, working with an immigration lawyer or visa processing service can be beneficial.
Making Living Arrangements
Initially, I considered staying in the housing provided by the internship program but decided against it because I prefer having my own space. Living independently allowed me to feel more comfortable and in control. I explored platforms like Airbnb and Zillow and eventually booked an Airbnb apartment, which turned out to be both cheaper and more convenient.
When choosing housing, you'll find options such as apartments, homestays, or shared living facilities. It’s important to consider factors like location, safety, and cost. Researching shows that platforms like Airbnb and housing facilities each have their benefits. Weigh the pros and cons according to your personal preferences to ensure you feel at home during your stay.
Navigating Last-Minute Travel and Logistical Hurdles
Despite thorough planning, unexpected travel and logistical challenges arose. For example, I couldn’t book my flight until I had my visa, leading to expensive last-minute bookings. Packing was challenging, especially moving my gaming PC across continents, but it was well worth it once settled.
Preparing for last-minute challenges includes packing essentials in your carry-on, having backup plans for housing and transportation, purchasing travel insurance, and staying updated on travel advisories. These strategies can reduce the stress of unforeseen circumstances, ensuring your experience remains positive.
Personal Experiences and Insights
Once settled, the internship experience was invaluable. One memorable event was a networking gathering where, amid casual conversations and delicious meals, I mistakenly threw away the lids for hot dishes, leading to cold chicken. Despite minor mishaps, the camaraderie with fellow interns, shared adventures in New Jersey, and trips around Manhattan made the experience enriching.
Exploring Manhattan was eye-opening. The city, with its towering buildings and wide streets, contrasted sharply with my hometown, Amsterdam, making it a delight to explore. My work involved setting up videos in stylish buildings and collaborating on projects I had never tackled before, such as using AI for content distribution and development, which was an exciting learning curve.
Interning abroad offers a mix of professional responsibilities and leisure activities. Whether enjoying shepherd’s pie at an Irish pub or networking at fun-filled events, these experiences help balance work with cultural immersion and relaxation.
This is why I wholeheartedly encourage everyone to consider an international internship. It expands your professional horizons and exposes you to different cultures, people, and workflows, making it a truly transformative phase in one's career.
If you are considering an international internship, my advice is simple: go for it. Take the plunge, prepare well, and immerse yourself in the new opportunities and experiences that come your way. It might just be the game-changing experience you need.
Overall, despite the ups and downs, this journey has been one of the most fulfilling events of my life, blending professional growth with personal development. Whether overcoming visa challenges, finding suitable accommodations, or tackling last-minute travel issues, every step was a valuable lesson in planning and resilience.
As I approach the end of my internship, I reflect on the friendships made, the skills gained, and the adventures experienced, fully appreciating the unique perspective it has given me. I plan to make the most of my remaining time here, soak in all that New York has to offer, and carry these memories and lessons forward in my career journey.
The blend of professional tasks and enjoyable experiences makes international internships an enriching journey that one must not miss.

Level Up Your Learning: The Ultimate Online Tuition classes
Unveiling the Best Online Tuition Classes: A Comprehensive Guide to Empowering Learners
The educational landscape is evolving, and online tuition classes are at the forefront of this transformation. Gone are the days of limited learning options. Today's students, from kindergarteners to aspiring professionals, can access a vast array of high-quality online tuition classes that cater to diverse needs and learning styles. This guide delves into the world of "best online tuition classes," helping you navigate the options and find the perfect fit to unlock your academic potential.
Why Choose Online Tuition Classes?
Online tuition classes offer a multitude of advantages:
Convenience and Flexibility: Learn from the comfort of your home, at your own pace, and on a schedule that works for you. No more rigid classroom timings or long commutes.
Personalized Attention: Receive one-on-one or small group instruction, allowing for tailored learning experiences and focused interaction with experienced tutors.
Subject Matter Expertise: Access a global pool of highly qualified tutors specializing in various subjects, exam preparation, and languages.
Engaging Learning Methods: Benefit from interactive learning tools, multimedia resources, and dynamic teaching approaches that cater to different learning styles (visual, auditory, kinesthetic).
Cost-Effectiveness: Online tuition classes can be a more affordable option compared to traditional in-person tutoring, especially with competitive pricing and flexible payment structures.
The term "best" is subjective, and the ideal online tuition platform will vary depending on your specific needs. Here's what to consider when searching for the "best online tuition classes":
Your Learning Goals: Are you aiming to excel in core subjects (KG-12th), prepare for competitive exams (IELTS/IDP), master a new language, or gain skills for a study abroad program? Clearly define your goals to narrow down your search.
Curriculum and Course Options: Ensure the platform offers a comprehensive curriculum aligned with your learning goals. Look for a variety of courses, from personalized study plans to exam-specific preparation modules.
Teaching Methodology: Do you prefer a structured, lecture-based approach, or an interactive, collaborative learning environment? Explore the platform's teaching style and ensure it aligns with your preferred way of learning.
Tutor Qualifications and Experience: Look for platforms with a rigorous selection process that ensures tutors are highly qualified, experienced, and passionate about their subject matter.
Student Support Services: Does the platform offer dedicated student support, such as progress monitoring, doubt-clearing sessions, and personalized feedback? This is crucial for a successful learning experience.
Technology and Platform Interface: Choose a platform with a user-friendly interface, reliable video conferencing technology, and interactive learning tools to enhance your learning experience.
Pricing and Packages: Compare pricing structures and consider factors like package options, hourly rates, and any free trial periods offered.
Exploring the Best: A Glimpse into Top Platforms
While it's impossible to declare a single platform as the absolute "best," here's a glimpse into some highly-regarded online tuition providers across various categories:
KG-12th: Vedantu, Cuemath, Khan Academy
11th-12th: Byju's, Toppr, ClearIAS
IELTS/IDP: Magoosh, British Council, iPrep
Language Learning: Duolingo, Babbel, Rosetta Stone
Study Abroad Support: The Experiment in International Living, iNext Study Abroad Consultants, The GoAbroad Guide
Beyond the List: Finding Your Perfect Match
This list provides a starting point, but don't limit yourself! Utilize online resources, student reviews, and platform trials to find the ideal fit. Remember, the "best" online tuition class is the one that caters to your individual needs, learning style, and budget.
Embrace the Future of Learning
With online tuition classes, learning becomes a personalized journey that transcends geographical boundaries. By harnessing the power of technology and expert instruction, you can unlock your potential, ace exams, master a new skill, or simply ignite your passion for lifelong learning. So, take the leap, explore the world of online tuition classes, and embark on a rewarding educational adventure!
