Pixel Grove is spotlighting the other kind of love: friendship! Whether it’s childhood companions, found families, or unlikely alliances, Frienduary is your chance to celebrate the beauty of platonic bonds through writing.

For the entire month of February, a daily prompt is available to inspire your creativity. Whether you write fanfiction, original fiction, poetry, or non-fiction, this event is open to all writers and fandoms.

How It Works

Daily Prompts: The prompts are available in text format below, as well as a graphic. But if you're a spontaneous writer, don't fret! This blog will post a prompt each day at 12 AM AEDT. Take the prompt and interpret it however you like—canon, AU, silly, serious, it’s up to you!

What to Write: Whatever the prompt inspires! There's no limit on how long or short a piece can be.

Where to Post: Share your work on your preferred platform (Tumblr, AO3, etc.) and tag it with #Frienduary2025 so others can find and enjoy your work!

If you’re uploading to Archive of Our Own, don’t forget to add it to the Frienduary collection.

Do I have to participate every day? Nope! You’re welcome to join in for as many or as few days as you like. No pressure!

Can I interpret prompts my own way? Absolutely. There’s no right or wrong way to use a prompt. They’re just here to inspire you!

Can I write for multiple fandoms? Yes! You're free to write for whatever fandom for any prompt! You can also go with an original work or a non-fiction essay if you'd like! The aim is just to get you writing.

Will you share my work? Our ask box is open for you to submit links to your works. This blog will post those links. Additionally, if you join the Pixel Grove Discord server, there's a channel thread dedicated to posting links to what you write for this event in #what-you-writing.

chapter 5: the mouse trap 一 🐭

ichi and her friends hid behind a bush. they waited for the mice to smell the stuffed donut they had prepared inside the box and come out.

soon, 2 or 3 mice left their little wooden house and headed for the treat in the yard.

after smelling and looking a bit around, two of them entered the box. ichi and her friends pulled the rope and the stick, and the box fell, trapping them.

"oh no, help!!!" their tiny cries were heard.

ichi and her friends quickly came closer. they made a small hole in the box and talked to the mice. they asked if they were the ones stealing mint's sweet bread.

"y-yes, it was us. we're so sorry! we were very hungry but didn't have money to buy miss mint's delicious bread. we're really sorry, miss mint!"

mint first looked sadly at them, then kindly.

"little mice, why didn't you say you were hungry? i need someone to help in the bakery, someone to sprinkle sugar on strawberry donuts and other sweets! we need someone with small hands for that job!"

"r-really?" the mice's eyes sparkled.

"yes! are you interested? promise not to take bread without permission. if you want, i can give you a loaf of bread every day for your friends!"

"that would be great, thank you so much, miss mint!" the mice jumped of joy.

after they were let out and went to the bakery for their first day of work, they kept apologizing to mint and her workers for the trouble.

To me it’s the fact that Steve assumed Robin had a license but still woke up 3 hours before his work shift to drive her to school everyday.

That is not a plot hole everybody, that is just the kind of person Steve Harrington is.

ppl are too quick to point to laios' disability as the reason his friends think he's a freak sometimes. so many instances of laios getting yelled at are, in my eyes, a case of "this guy had to emotionally mature very early in order to be there for his little sister" combined with "much older friends who never had to learn to manage their own emotions to the same degree"

a lot of the time he's right about needing to be more direct/deal with things in a way that may seem scary/needing to put your gut reaction aside. he tries not to make his friends uncomfortable and he puts up with a lot because he's trying to keep the peace, but he also pushes the others out of their comfort zones purposefully to try to get them to think more constructively. everyone else in the party is prone to acting on their gut instincts and avoiding uncomfortable situations even when facing them head-on is very much necessary. part of what makes laios such a great leader is the fact that he knows from experience how to put his own feelings aside to help someone else grow.

yes, he does make a lot of social blunders by accident and he does struggle to connect with others, but not all of his positive influence on others is accidental or "despite" making people uncomfortable. a lot of the time, I think it's clear he knows exactly what he's doing and he's trying to help the people around him process emotions in a healthy way as they all go through some truly harrowing shit. all the main characters support each other as well as they can with their unique emotional skillsets. laios' skillset just happens to be "gently talk child into eating her vegetables"

I met my best friend through tumblr 8 years ago! We both shared interests in doctor who and achievement hunter, but have switched up so many fandoms together that now we force each other to watch things that we each like. We live across the country but in the past two years we’ve been able to fly and see each other a handful of times and are planning more trips. Last trip we finally got matching tattoos that we’ve wanted and it’s so great to have a reminder of our friendship. Connecting online at the start was scary to find a friend so far away, but now we talk everyday and I couldn’t imagine my life without her. She’s helped me so much in just knowing I’m not alone and I’m grateful that we both took a chance expressing ourselves online to find each other. It’s great to have someone that I can share stupid edits or art with, but also know they’re always there for me. Now all I have to do is figure out how to make it so we don’t live so far away 😭

You can't imagine your life without her!!!! It's so wild how that happens - you start messaging someone one day, and then it just doesn't stop. It's so special!!!
