Meian is by no means a master chef, but he prides himself on being resourceful. So when he figures out that you're allergic to certain ingredients, there's never a moment where you don't have anything to eat.
He's not yet ready to admit it, but it's the way your eyes always find him, trusting that he'll have you covered. The way your eyes light up when you get your very own piece of cake or whatever snack he's prepared for today's team-building exercise.
He still remembers well how you shrunk in on yourself that one time you had nothing to eat. He's not going to let that happen again.

Sakusa has always been serious about hygiene. But there's a reason why he has switched all of his disinfectant gels for another brand, why his fabric softener now comes unscented.
It's the way you always step closer to him now when the team gathers, how you have no fear of resting your head on his shoulder during bus rides, or how you pull on his sleeve asking for a handkerchief instead of anyone else.
It's a small thing, really. But it's never too small for you.
Now he only needs to be brave enough to offer you his jacket the next time it gets cold.
But he'll manage, he's sure. Because it's you, after all.

Atsumu gets a lot of shit for being selfish and egocentric. He doesn't bother correcting them. It's not worth the effort, he thinks.
Let them think what they want to think, he tells you when you ask about it. Because you know the truth.
He might not always be home on time for dinner, but he has no problem triple-checking if that new skincare is really suitable for your skin or paying extra to make sure those new earrings he got for you won't make your skin react.
He wears in your new shoes - and he looks fabulous in heels - because he would never let you get blisters if he can help it and more than once have you tested your make-up on him before trying it out on yourself.
So if the world thinks he's selfish, he'll let the world think what it wants. As long as you're cared for, safe and sound, he can be as selfish as he wants.

Hinata often forgets that he's lactose intolerant. More than once you've had to find a nearby toilet and hunker down with a book while he suffered. But he never forgets that you can't eat gluten. And he won't let anyone forget either.
"What about cross-contamination?" Is a sentence he's said so often, Sakusa has threatened to tattoo it onto him.
He's more than willing to try the first bite of your meal - though you suspect it's not just out of concern for you, he's still very much a growing boy - to check if it's really gluten-free and even though he's got a lot to learn in the kitchen, his gluten-free soup is a delight.
And yes, he had to give up beer for you and that sucks sometimes, but he'd rather not have beer at all than to come home and not be able to kiss you. He has his priorities straight after all.

Bokuto has become a walking encyclopedia. At least that's what he seems to be trying to achieve. Today he's listed off all kinds of fruits that are suitable for an anti-inflammatory diet and he was only wrong once.
He's not trying to mansplain it to you, he swears. He's just showing you that he cares. That although memorizing stuff sometimes comes hard to him, he wants to make sure to never forget. After all, if switching one fruit out can help you manage your symptoms better, it's all worth it in the end, right?
And he's learning still. That sometimes, it's okay to eat what you've been craving for days, even though it might hurt you a little bit. That sometimes the pain will tie you to your bed even though you've been consistent with your diet all month. That sometimes all he has to do is lay down with you and kiss you, not because he can kiss it better, but because everything is a little easier when you get to kiss him.

you saw him first. it had always been that way, your perceptiveness betraying you. a quick run to the store for some painkillers after you popped the last couple for a migraine, left you frozen in place at the sight of the ash blonde. your awareness heightened at the fact you were in a giant, beat-up hoodie with mismatched socks, your hair frizzy and gave the impression that you were hungover. and suddenly toughing through a headache at home didn't seem so bad right now.
katsuki was scanning over the jars of protein powder. his hand reached for the one with clean white packaging and a simple black font. the one he always liked. but it faltered, retreating, skipping over to one with a blue label.
since when did he like blue?
your head was throbbing and waves of tears threatened to form at your eyes, but you knew it wasn't from the pain.
he turned around, and all you could do was face the hopelessness of his gaze locking with yours. with him seeing firsthand the look on your face that would crack open until your heart shattered all over the tiled floor.
but it never happened. he never even looked your way.
"kacchan, did you find anything?"
kacchan? but it wasn't izuku's voice..
"i told ya to stop callin' me that," katsuki grumbled.
"i know, but it's so cute! i can't help it after deku used it for you!"
you clutched your bottle of advil. her clothes sat just right. her hair was what you spent two hours in front of the mirror with an iron for. she had eyes so blue it made the ocean pale.
was that why? was she why you liked blue now?
"oh!" she gasped, "is that the powder i talked about?"
"yeah, but," he sighed, "it's shit and i'm not gettin' it."
"what! how is it bad?" she exclaimed.
"the macros are terrible. i'm gettin' my usual."
you let out a breath you didn't know you were holding.
"you're no fun," she scoffed, "we need to get some gluten-free snacks, can you come?"
there was a pause, before he said, "nah, i don't eat that crap, i needa check somethin' first." the girl blinked at the bluntness, but shook it off and walked down the aisle.
"need somethin'?"
your heart skipped a beat.
piercing eyes of ruby met yours, the same as they always were. something that took years to read, always changing, always something behind the enchanting hue.
"no-" you whispered, mouth dry. "no," you repeated, clearly this time, "i was just on my way to checkout."
"checkout's the other way if ya didn't know."
your face burned red, but you steeled your gaze as best as you could and nodded, turning away.
"she's an intern, by the way." you stopped.
"what?"
"she's an intern, third-year. but she's not tryna be a sidekick, she's aiming for personal assistant. but i'm not picking her up- too chatty."
you swallowed, "okay, and?"
"just thought you wanted to know," he spoke, softly, as he reshelved the jar. "do you.. have another brand i can try?"
you stared at him, and you sighed. as you stopped at his side, you gazed over the rows of containers. "why didn't you like this one?" you gestured to the one he just placed on the rack.
"the macros were fine... i just don't like blue."
you let a laugh slip out, and a warmth budded in your chest, an all familiar feeling.
the pain of your migraine dulled as the pains of the past were slowly, carefully, starting to be stitched up. because you and katsuki were hunched over the protein powder, just like you were all those years ago. and for some reason it brought a sense of peace that you never thought the sight of him would bring again.

Strip: he ain’t allowed to eat cereal it makes him hyper. Lynda makes him oatmeal instead and he throws a tantrum every time.
Cal: he ain’t allowed to eat cereal, eats POPS in moderation when supervised (he will eat the entire box)
Lynda: Oatmeal. she don’t really care for cereal.
Tex: Great Value Apple Fritters Cereal (it’s discontinued and he pays $60 on ebay each time he needs another box.) Usually just has Blanton Gold Label for breakfast (it’s whiskey).
Lightning: Cocoa puffs, Reese’s Pieces Cereal, anything incredibly sweet and borderline life threatening. The occasional Cheerio.
Mater: anything you put in front of him. whether or not it’s edible is not important.
Bobby: actually doesn’t like cereal. mostly just doesn’t like milk and won’t eat it dry.
Brick: Frosted Flakes but ONLY the ones that are travel sized. He said they don’t taste the same as the big box. Also says that if they’re bought in the store, they taste different than the ones from the hotel breakfast line.
Sally: Honey Smacks, Choco Chimps. thinks the chimp is cute. drinks a glass of orange juice with her cereal and it drives Lightning insane.
Doc: He’s a doctor and only eats Raisin Bran and Cheerios because sugary cereal is bad for you…………
Cocoa Krispies. he likes when they go *pop pop pop*
Sheriff: he’s a simple man and doesn’t ask for much.
German cereal Vitalis Schoko Müsli Klassisch, Kelloggs ICEE cereal and Peeps cereal. makes Doc cry. who tf introduced him to those.
Sarge: MRE Future Essentials Corn Flakes Cereal #10 Can. man has not shit in six years.
Fillmore: organic gluten free sugar free preservative free strange crunchy objects. no milk.
Flo: prefers granola, mixed with cream and some fruit. makes a bomb parfait.
Ramone: eats whatever Flo is eating. if Flo is not eating he WILL starve.
Red: Honey Nut Cheerios, Apple Jacks….. Gerber snacks for baby. they’re fire and he won’t tell you otherwise.
Lizzie: has literally never heard of cereal, is shocked every time she sees someone eating it. it’s been 40 years of this.
Luigi: Swissli, but hasn’t found a good enough alternative in the US. Cheerios will do.
Guido: Doesn’t care for cereal, makes a real breakfast instead.

Ok no actually I wanna hear your Trader Joe’s opinions I’m really into the orange strawberry banana juice, the bruschetta sauce, the cranberry lime juice sparkling water and cinnamon schoolbook cookies
You and I agree on the CLSW (cranlime sparkling), haven’t tried the others but I’ll look into them. The normal lime one is also amazing on its own, as well as a mixer for both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Summer must!
There’s so much shit I’m obsessed with, I’ll try and list the most important ones
English crumpets
Mango kefir
Brown sugar oat creamer
Chocolate oat milk
Simpler wines brand sparkling white canned wine
Pfeffernüsse
Chocolate babka
Brioche sliced bread
Danish Kringle
Pinks and whites shortbread cookies
Joe Joe’s gluten free classic Oreo knock off cookie
Madras lentils (boxed kind is good too)

The non joes brand oat milk coffee and kombucha but you can get those anywhere
Their candles, two in one grapefruit mint hair wash (I despise two in one products but this one doesn’t foam and is more of a cleansing conditioner I use in between shampoo and regular conditionings), and many other non food items. I’ve bought their towels, seasonal decor (usually those felt garlands), face lotions and oils. Loved all of them. Usually I only restock on the lotion, hand soap, and lavender laundry bags. Their detergent is nice tho, and I’ve also gotten their wool laundry balls but you really only ever gotta buy them like once. They also usually have pretty cute cards at the checkout! I like their cheaper flowers too, but there’s also a lot of very cute seasonal items they carry that I just can’t justify buying bc of price (have you seen their felt sunflowers? So adorable)

*especially with the gluten free microwaveable mac n cheese (I’m not gluten free if you’ve noticed, I literally just prefer some of their gluten free products. Same with the oat milk. I’m not lactose free but I just really like it)

Chimichurri rice (goes great with the aforementioned roasted red pepper box soup, and chopped onions, green peppers, and spinach cooked in a wok)
Chicken sausage
Butternut squash gnocchi, iirc the potato gnocchi is good too
Most of their dried pastas
Almond and chocolate filled frozen croissants
The bars of chocolate you find at the check out that come in packs of threes
The weird meat sticks at the checkout too

For whatever reason, their frozen green beans and asparagus is so much better than other generic brands I’ve tried

Sun dried tomatoes
The produce is okay, a little pricey but they had brown Mexican tomatoes once that fucked hard. The herbs trustworthy too but really where is it not
Any of their chocolate covered nuts
Their fucked up chocolate covered chips, sometimes found in their snack mixes
Peanut butter pretzel snacks
Their dried seaweed isn’t my fav, but it’s not bad. I think it’s overpriced tho but tbf I usually get huuuge, less flavored packs from Costco
Pine nuts but good Gd are they expensive
They have cute, weird heirloom hybrid squashes during the fall a lot too that are pretty tasty
Things I’ve gotten from there that I hated? I didn’t like their orange chicken, ANY of the cereals I’ve gotten from there oddly enough, their pecorino Romano only comes grated and mixed iirc and I didn’t care for it. Some of their beers have made me scowl but also those are all random brands. But their wine (yes, even SHAW. But shoutout to coco bon red blend and blue fin moscato RIP!) has never does me wrong…except for any other flavor of the simpler wines canned ones. I can only do the sparkling white and literally no else I've forced to drink it has liked it! some of their salads have done me wrong. the canned chickpeas and dolmas were off. and some of their pricy juice mixes left me a bit disappointed.

Dietry aspects that help you if you suffer from thyroid issues, specifically hashimoto's disease:
Avoid gluten. It sucks, yeah, but every source i found so far agrees on this. People with thyroid issues are more likely to be straight up gluten intolerant! If that isn't the case, you absolutely don't need to cut gluten out of your life. However, you should try to reduce the intake regardless. But not to worry! You can find brands that have pasta, bread mixes, pizza dough, even little snacks as gluten free! Alternatives are also always rice or corn for a lot of things. If you like to snack on crunchy things like cookies i can really recommend rice waffles. They even come with chocolate and other flavors a lot of the time. And as for the bread mixes don't worry, at least the german brand i get has the lowest effort kinda stuff. As in, put water, stirr, form on tray, oven, done (and i found one that is SO delicious to me even!)
Avoid pork. Also got this one from multiple sources. Like with gluten, it can be a problem if you're out a lot, BUT there is usually plenty of other meat. My go to is chicken or turkey. Beef is great too, but naturally it's more expensive than chicken etc. You don't need to cut out stuff like salami either because these days there's a lot of alternatives to pork in those regards
Veggies, veggies, veggies! I mean, who doesn't this apply to?! Vegetables are great and have so many vitamins. I try to eat a salad a day and have some veggies in my lunch. There is so many different vegetables, there's sure to be SOMETHING for you! In my salad for example i put grated carrots even though i don't like them apart from that. I also put apple to make it more sweet and delicious! (Note: for salad you should put some oil, otherwise your body can't absorb the nutrients that well. I love pumpkin sees oil bc i'm picky and don't like olive oil. But there's more you might like too!) Potatoes count as well for your vitamins. Put anything with some meat or in a stew or with rice, it doesn't really matter how you make them
Fruit is less helpful than veggies, but it's still great! Especially berries, apples, oranges, peaches, plums and more are helpful. That's because they have less sugar that for example pineapple, banana, grapes, or mango
Seeds and nuts. They can help you as well. I usually put sunflower seeds in my salad, but you can also put something in cereal or yoghurt or your lunch! They're nice and crunchy and can be great additions to some food
Less (cow) milk. Milk is fineee, but you shouldn't overdo it. Especialy with things with a lot of fat, like cream
Most fish. Most fish is great, salmon and tuna for example. In general, fish is really healthy. I don't like it but i know many do! So definitely keep eating it! :)
Eggs. Eggs are always good, get your protein! Many lovely ways to make eggs. Just make sure you don't always eat them with too much fat, so be careful with your fried or scrambled egg
Those are things i was told by a doctor or things i found from different sources on the internet. Some is obvious like you should just so in general get protein and vegebtables!
But for example, i've had hashimoto's disease for over six years now and only THIS YEAR i was told by a doctor that i should avoid gluten
So i wanted to make a little post for me and for others to have a quick check list regarding one's diet with thyroid issues! If you know/think of anything else, please share! It'll be much appreciated!

My milk journey has been
First meal: rice porridge with breast milk
Start dropping weight and can't stay out of the bathroom by age seven, get told to avoid dairy so mom buys Lactaid milk for a year. Whole family despises it and Mac and cheese in particular is now terrible and avoided. I'm still very sick anyway
Be diagnosed with Crohn's at age nine. Resume consuming regular dairy
Twelve-ish: begin to feel a little distress at eating ice cream. Does not stop me from accepting a Dairy Queen cheesequake blizzard reward for single handedly winning a science class quiz game that was supposed to be played in teams but no one wanted me. By sheer force of will and remarkable sphincter control for an IBD patient, mange to wait it out get home that day before having a violent reaction.
Thirteen: throw up violently at school after having cheese sticks for my free lunch. Convince myself it was just the greasiness of the meal that set me off
Fourteen: go into high school conceding the point that I'm lactose intolerant. Unsuccessful at lobbying the head principal to provide lactose free strawberry milk. Start paying more money than a lunch would have even cost if I didn't qualify for free lunch at the snack bar for juice or V8 in order to not go thirsty at lunch. Repeatedly throw up when the only option for lunch other than the very popular spicy chicken every Wednesday that I couldn't tolerate mouth-wise or gut-wise was the same cheesesticks that I had in middle school
Sometime later in high school: discover the Meijer's house brand of lactose free milk actually tastes decent.
Seventeen-ish. Find a hair in the carton of Meijer's lactose free milk and swear off it forever. Try rice milk
(Also an aside at seventeen: develop celiac disease and I thanked my lucky stars that it was polite enough to have waited until I was done with wildly ableist school and too old to trick or treat)
I forget which age but I was a fresh and new adult: discover rice milk ice cream. Desperately pretend it tastes and feels like real ice cream.
Shortly after: try coconut milk. It's tasty, but hardly a neutral milk-like taste and doesn't go well when mixed with other ingredients. Coconut milk ice cream is likewise lackluster
Nineteen? Discover the boxed and shelf stable almond milk. Begin to have hope.
Twenty: find out they started making a cartoned and refrigerated almond milk that tastes brilliant
Twenty three? Realize I have forgotten the taste of dairy milk. Almond milk reigns Supreme
Twenty-six: find out what an environmental menace the non-native aimond trees used in American almond milk is to drought-stricken California. Feel guilty but also feel like there's no real way to avoid drinking almond milk
Twenty-eight: Oat milk explodes in the plant milk scene. I ignore this because there's a high likelihood of cross contamination with wheat in both the field crop and in the processing of oats in the same facilities of wheat. No major and common oat milk brands have any gluten free signage
Twenty nine: Oatly converts its American version to gluten free oats brown in dedicated fields and processing facilities. Try it and it's decent. (CAUTION: some celiacs have a reaction to oats themselves regardless of any cross-contamination. I, however, am not one of them.) Become mostly fully converted to oat milk but still keep ordering almond milk when I get an iced coffee because Dunkin and the anarchist coffee shop/bookstore never label which brand of oat milk they use and you're a millennial and despise phone calls
Thirty: Planet Oats is a bit cheaper so I try it on a lark and like it better. Be bummed that it comes in a smaller carton that Oatly and thus is more expensive in the long run. Start putting oat milk in my oatmeal and have a religious crisis because it seems like a decadent and cardinal sin. Remember I'm an atheist and it's okay to be a lil hedonistic and perverse esp where food is concerned
Nearly thirty-one: realize halfway in making this post that it's entirely boring and pointless and is too long for such an uninteresting subject but goddammit I've sunk the cost and will finish this stupid post.

13. Stay home/go-out? What are their date nights like? With being on the road so much, having a quiet night in with good food, nice wine and something on Netflix would be a bit of a luxury. It’d give them chance to unwind and just be the two of them without anyone else around – there’s a lot of chance for bars and clubs and socialising while on tour. They’d probably try to get out and about every now and then, maybe take Ollie a bit further afield for a walk in the forest or something. It’d be a bit less high pressure than being out in the city, where people are more likely to recognise them straight away.
25. (a lil sappy, but..) What do they like about each other? Nace once described Jan as a true artist, so obviously he admires that about him, but I think Jan would also be a bit amazed by Nace’s ability to copy music by ear and remember such a huge repertoire of songs. They had quite different routes into their careers and would appreciate the different strengths this gave them as a result. Jan would love how generous Nace is to others, always willing to give his full time and attention to others, whether that’s his friends, his family or the fans, no matter how exhausted he is. He’s always very in tune with Jan needing to be grounded in interviews. However, he’d also really appreciate his sense of humour, which starts to emerge as he settles into the band – the first time Nace is sarcastic to him, Jan just keeps replaying it gleefully in his head for the rest of the day. Nace would really appreciate Jan’s sillier side coming out. He has a tendency to look a bit aloof and mysterious, so you wouldn’t necessarily expect it, but what starts off as a sign he’s accepting him into the band soon evolves into their own brand of shenanigans. He would also enjoy Jan’s passion for his interests, even if they don’t necessarily share them – Nace’s not a mathematician, for example, but the enthusiasm with which Jan speaks about what he studies? Yeah, he can recognise that. And even if Jan has a tendency to drift sometimes, he always remembers the most important things. Maybe he’s chronically late to rehearsals, but somehow he’s always got cupboards full of gluten free bread and snacks whenever Nace comes to visit.

Hello! I hope you’re well 🌻 I have a question. I would dearly love to visit Greece someday, but unfortunately I have a lot of food sensitivities (to gluten, dairy, and nuts) and I was wondering, if I was in a big city like Athens, how possible it would be to find accommodations for those sensitivities? Maybe? Not at all?

No need to worry, you won’t have a problem in Athens! I believe you wouldn’t need to worry much in any of the 5 - 7 largest cities in Greece and the 3-5 most cosmopolitan islands.
🍧The nuts are the easiest one to avoid as the overwhelming majority of savoury Greek food doesn’t include nuts. However, nuts are an integral part in traditional Greek pastry making and there unfortunately you will have to keep your distances. However, you will find places in the big cities with gluten free and vegan pastries, even if they are not the most traditional options. BUT!!! There is also the literally most traditional Greek sweets that are both gluten free and dairy free: spoon sweets, usually made of dried fruits and syrup!!! Just make sure to choose one without nuts, there are many flavours!

Tomato, fig and apricot spoon sweets. There are many many more varieties! You will find them in traditional spoon sweet, herb and spice shops, some pastry shops, perhaps upscale hotels, upscale traditional cafes. The most classic varieties could be found in some supermarkets too.
👩‍🍳 When it comes to savoury food, things are much easier. With a search in Tripadvisor for Athens with the sensitivity filters, the site gives me 1347 results back. Here’s the link to the search. So you are not going to have a problem. You can also search for “best dairy free gluten free places in Athens”, there are some articles with guides and tips. Many medium and upscale restaurants also write in their menus that they have suitable dishes or that they are open to discuss your sensitivities and modify your dish accordingly.
🏨 If you intend to stay in a hotel and eat breakfast and / or dinner there, check their amenities / services on their website first, it might be mentioned there. If not sure, I believe you should discuss it first with the hotel via a call or an email to be sure before making the reservation. I believe several medium and more upscale hotels (4 and 5 stars) will take into consideration food sensitivities.
☕️ As for coffee shops, in the big cities many nowadays have dairy substitutes such as oat and almond milk. I believe rice milk is rarer, so if those bother you, keep in mind to check what the substitute milk is.
🏪 In the big supermarkets you will have no problem finding dairy substitutes (ie vegan or lactose free milk and cheese) . Gluten free pasta are easily available too. Gluten free is a little more challenging when it comes to snacks. Brands like Papadopoulos and VIOLANTA offer a few gluten-free snacks. Just keep in mind that we really love nuts in our snacks and candies and you have to double check every snack you see for potential warnings, because a lot do not have milk or nuts but are produced in the same industrial machines as milk and nut products which means they might be contaminated. Avoid mini-markets for snacks and substitutes.
🌯 Another tricky area is fast food. Our fast food is usually pies and pitas and you won’t be able to find gluten free options very easily. Obviously however you can get a portion of souvlaki or gyros without wrapping it in a pita or a bread so there’s that! Combine it with tomatoes, onions, ketchup, lettuce, potatoes and you are more than fine! But in order to try wrapped fast food, you will definitely have to check such guides for specialised restaurants I mentioned above.
Now the good news: aside from the snacks and fast food, the traditional Greek cuisine is based on the Mediterranean diet in which gluten ingredients are naturally limited.
🥗 Traditional Greek food revolves around meat, veggies, fish, seafood and beans. (And dairy but dairy can be more easily avoided.) This means that even if you are in any place in Greece, less modern and fancy, you will still be able to eat from a variety of dishes. Check the menu for the ingredients on the dishes and discuss with the waiter if you have questions and you can avoid the problems even in a pretty traditional place.
Below are some very traditional meals dairy and gluten free that can be found in low-key non specialising places:

Many other delicacies in tsipouradika (seafood shops) and mezedopolía (appetizer shops) and of course all the dishes that involve meat and fish, particularly grilled, which are literally the most common. But beware of deep fried ones, in case they coat them in egg or wheat. I also don’t know if you have any limitations with spices and herbs, this is something you should keep in mind.
I also found a Greek gluten free restaurant card in case you stumble onto a restaurant where they don’t know good English (extremely unlikely in Athens, unlikely elsewhere as well)

Heck I don’t know why it put that red corrector on the image wtf. Anyway I have myself underlined with the thick red line the words αυγά (eggs), γαλακτοκομικά (dairy) and ομελέτα (omelette). The card is exclusively for gluten free, it says what you can’t eat and then goes on with what you can eat. This is why I underlined eggs and dairy, so that you can see which words they are and blur them if you print the clear copy. It proceeds with asking that in case the cook can’t adjust any dish from the menu, then whether they can prepare a simple dish with an omelette (I underlined it) or meat. (Of course if you can eat eggs, you don’t have to scratch it out, that’s why I underlined them to show you the words and gave you a clear copy as well.)
I found cards and apps for dairy and nuts in Greek but they were behind a paywall 😑
Anyway that’s all from me: as a summary, there are several options in Athens and you will surely be able to get by in other large cities and the top cosmopolitan islands. The truth is that this may affect a little the prices but Greece is overall cheaper than west Europe and the cosmopolitan regions in the US, so upscale and specialised shops in Greece will be like medium shops in those other places price-wise. (Note: Not true for Mykonos and Santorini islands) What you should be a little more cautious with is pastries and snacks.

intermission depression meals
ness: bluebell ice cream straight outta the tub. off-brand lunchable from the dollar store. white bread toast with ketchup on it.
paula: handful of grapes. tiny pack of whales crackers (nostalgic, used to be a snack for the preschool kids). starbucks protein box but that's all she's eaten in the past 24 hours.
jeff: sleeve of saltine crackers. black coffee at 2AM. beans from a tupperware he keeps in his mini-fridge.
poo: bottle of vitamin water. spoonful of peanut butter. 1 cup of plain rice, but he chopped some green onion over it, so he insists it now constitutes a proper meal for the day - and hey, he's getting good at this intermittent fasting thing, never felt better actually, haha, you should really try it too.
lucas: handful of plain oats. 1 stick of beef jerky. 2 tiny, thin, despicably crunchy gluten-free cookies (he doesn't have celiac).
claus: apple (slightly bruised). monster energy drink. half a tin of cinnamon altoids, eaten absentmindedly over the course of an hour.
kumatora: burnt popcorn. gas station doughnut. whoppers candy out of a mashed-up box she found on her car's floorboard (some of the chocolate has melted off and congealed in the box).
duster: dry mcdonald's biscuit, with no butter or jam or anything. canned vienna sausages. those little cubes of cheddar cheese you can buy a pack of at the grocery store.
porky: glass of wine he stole from his mom's house. cup ramen. raw beef.

Here's a store brand box of cereal bars. They cost 53 cents a bar and are often on sale.

And then here's the gluten-free version. They cost $1.18 each. They also taste worse and are never on sale unless they're about to expire.

I'm sure the ingredients of the gluten-free cereal bar do not cost twice as much as the ones for the glutenful cereal bar. Even given the costs of gf certification for the gluten-free cereal bars, I believe the company is charging that much more because they know they're the only gf cereal bar of this type in the store.
Customers with celiac, wheat allergies, etc., who want this type of product have some unappealing choices for this and virtually every gf version of a gluteny food:
buy the gf brand for double the price people without dietary restrictions pay
give up eating this type of snack entirely
order a case of some weird cereal bar online and hope it doesn't suck
find the time to traverse a phalanx of orthorexic vegan keto mommy blogs for a recipe, then bake an even worse-tasting, non-shelf-stable homemade cereal bar
I know. Boo hoo. I should expect medical conditions to be annoying and expensive. I should remove all familiar convenience foods from my life in favor of carrying fruit with me at all times, except I also shouldn't be eating fruit either because it has sugar in it, the horror, and besides do I really deserve snacks at my size, etc, etc, etc.

I need some healthy snack ideas if you don't mind.
Mhmm, a really good one is roasting your own nuts! I've done it with cashews and almonds but lately I've been into pecans - soaking them in a bowl with water and salt for several hours, up to 12 hours, then leaving them in the oven at 150 or as low as yours will go for at least 8 hours. Or you can just buy nuts "raw" or "dry-roasted" and add your own salt and/or olive oil whenever you can't roast them yourself.
I also really like MASA chips - they're fried in tallow. Whenever I let someone try them they like them! They're a bit of a pain because they're rare in stores, you have to order them, and they're not cheap, but I find it worth it to subscribe.
Another chip brand that you're more likely to find in stores is Siete, and I like to get their avocado oil-fried blue chips.
For crackers, I'm starting to exclusively use Rustic Bakery sourdough olive oil crackers, they're delicious and extremely simple, lacking a lot of the ingredients that make most crackers (such an innocuous-sounding snack, we've been so deceived!) really unhealthy. Stonewall Kitchen also has some crackers that are seed oil-free.
I also like to try protein balls whenever I see them at a coffee shop, everyone seems to have their own recipe, they're a good satisfying snack. I've been trying to copy them on my own but (to me at least) they're more challenging than they look. Lately, I've been making muffins using bananas, apple cider, whole organic spelt flour, copious amounts of cinnamon (and the standard egg, baking soda, baking powder, salt, vanilla extract, butter) and getting very positive responses! I've also been making gluten-free, incidentally vegan cookies with pure peanut butter, coconut oil, and oatmeal.

After a good start yesterday, it all fell apart very quickly.
Let's just say that tinned baked beans are most definitely OFF the menu from now on!
I had them for lunch on Sunday. And yesterday ....wow. I was a total mess.
I'm fine with legumes, but I'm pretty sure it was the gluten aspect. I'm already gluten free, but wasn't sure about those beans. Some brands are ok, some aren't.
Best to stay off them completely.
So I took the rest of the day off everything. Including a late snack. Felt ill.
Bit better this morning. Still not 100%, bit good enough to get on with my day.
I got myself into a squat workout. Low weight/high rep to high weight/low rep pyramid. Ending it with a ten rep push at the highest weight.
Then a minute's wall sit to finish my legs off completely, lol.
I was happy to get outside with my breakfast after that. All hail the Oodie and the insulated cup!
And made even better with such a beautiful morning sky.
I'm going for a little walk in the forest before lunch, but before that, I pushed myself into getting on with some cardio HIIT.
Oof. Yeah, that was a toughie!
Lots of plyometrics in that one!!
Glad I got it in, though.
