A/N: @iamvegorott gave me the prompt a week ago to explore what the twins' first words would be in the Papa Night AU.

Night pinched the bridge of his nose with a heavy sigh, watching as the twins slapped food-covered hands against his polished wood dining table. He had turned away for a moment, but it was just enough time for the boys to stick their hands into their bowls of porridge and make a mess.

“Will you never obey my orders?” he groaned, moving to find a cloth to clean the hands of the twins. “You surely must understand the consequences of your decisions, knowing how you hate my cleaning your hands.”

Mare held his hands out for Night to clean, looking at him with guilty purple eyes. He kicked his feet, impatiently waiting for the god to clean him properly before lowering his hands and watching as Phantom was cleaned.

“Now, have you had enough to eat?” He asked, looking at each child in turn before taking away their bowls. “Let me put these in the kitchen, then I’ll come and put you both to bed.”

Bringing the bowls into the kitchen and scraping the remaining food from them, Night paused as he heard a clatter followed by a whoosh signalling one of the twins had started a fire. Sighing, he put the bowls in the dishwasher before moving back to the dining room.

“Papa!” Night froze. It was a petulant voice, filled with childlike annoyance, spoken in a whine over the crackling of the centrepiece on the table. “Papa…” That was Mare, looking tearfully at Night with a trembling lower lip while Phantom laughed beside him.

“Say that again.” Night’s voice was soft, awestruck as he looked at the child, waving a hand to extinguish the fire without tearing his gaze from Mare.

“P-Papa?” Mare let out a questioning yelp when Night scooped him up into his arms, holding him close to his chest and brushing his fingers through his hair.

“I—” There was no explaining the feeling swelling in his chest, the warmth that spread through him as Mare cuddled close. He let out a baffled huff at the dampness surrounding his eyes, freezing when Mare lifted a tiny finger to wipe away the tears he didn’t know were falling.

“Pa?” Looking up, he saw Phantom still sitting at the table, watching the god with confused and curious eyes. Shifting Mare to balance him on one hip, Night moved to Phantom and gently lifted him, walking both children to the couch and sitting with them on his lap.

“Boys,” he began, pausing to clear his throat. “Do you think of me as your father? Your… ‘papa’?” Mare and Phantom looked at each other before turning back to Night, leaning forward to hug him tightly.

“Papa,” Mare whispered, burying his face in Night’s jacket.

“Pa,” Phantom echoed, curling tightly into a ball in his lap.

A hesitation, a halting of breath as Night processed his twins’ utterances. His twins. Chaos-born children abandoned in the dead of night and left to freeze under a blossom tree. His children.

“Yes,” Night’s voice was barely above a whisper, holding his boys close as he let his emotions flood through him. “Yes, my sons, I’m your papa. I swear to always be your papa.”

Horror isekai where Perceiving the Weird Eldritch Thing gets you catapulted into a nightmare labyrinth of puzzle-solving.

I.e Those Who Perceive The Hunt of the Goblin King Must Partake In The Labyrinth and Can Only Be Freed If They Complete It In One Day and One Night. By Fae Law. For Reasons.

But the definition of “perception” clearly needs to be updated because some normal guy simply films the Hunt of the Goblin King Behind Arby’s, and puts it on Facebook -

Because the rules are pretty clear, “the rules are the rules” as is carved ominously in elvish runes above the grim gate, and the Contract is Sealed. and so therefore the guy and 25 of their most random real-life acquaintances must run the gauntlet together. It’s Some Guy, their immediate neighbors, their first partner’s mom, their friends from hobby Facebook groups (oh this poor guy and their hobbies; the elderly birdwatchers from Facebook and the young up-and-coming drag king community), their random teen kid niece, college friends, a dog who also watched the video, a couple consisting of a woman who is the guy’s Facebook friend and showed her husband the video, and the husband doesn’t even know Some Guy, so he’s in the labyrinth and absolutely furious about being forced to be involved, and they proceed to break up over the course of the puzzle.

It’s important that the narrative keeps trying to be a sexy dark horror isekai! but within this the comedic reality of Catherine, 52, the guy’s horse-riding instructor, being passionately involved in escape-room-style puzzle solving and grappling with minor goblins. They are in fact speedrunning the gauntlet.

The Goblin King finally has to say: all right, actually, I only really set all this up to fuck with one (1) guy at a time, thanks for your willingness to participate, but I think all 25 of you can consider the gauntlet fully run.

And the group would be quite hurt by that. The rules are the rules. We have a contract, actually. Let Catherine cook.

I made a few new wax seal stamps out of clay (like the ones I did for my worldbuilding stuff forever ago), this time just of random symbols that I thought might look good done in the style of painting over the raised part of the wax or etc. :0c Some of them aren't carved deep enough to really show up that well, but overall they worked okay for being clay lol

something i've already posted about in the past but am thinking about again because of the conversations in this episode is that i still truly do not understand bells hells'(well, particularly ashton's) view on what is going to happen if the information about aeor gets sent out to the people of exandria. obviously, i'm not an average person living in that world and am instead a viewer of the media with fairly extensive knowledge of the lore, so i could definitely just be missing what the impact would actually be! but the insistence that it would be a world shattering revelation that completely turns everyone against the odds just... doesn't make sense to me?

unless ludinus has a way of editing the information he presents and can take away the context, which would basically make the "footage" even more strange, what they're going to be seeing is... the gods saving themselves from people with the active ability to murder them all and having a rather humanizing crisis of what they should do about it? i guess the working with the betrayer gods part could be considered the controversial aspect of it, but overall, considering everything else that was destroyed in the calamity, aeor really was the one instance that was closest to being "justified". i don't think anyone who cares enough about the gods for this to cause any sort of big disruption of faith would have as big of a problem with it as they are assuming, nor do i really think it's something that would cause mass revolts against the gods in people who aren't devout.

things i feel strongly abt: being an attentive listener to the opening act. this is Not the time to be on your phone or talk to your friend !!!!! there is a person on stage baring their heart and soul out to us rn and they also know most ppl are not there for them and it is your job as a good audience member to give them this moment, to be there with them, to receive the music they are sharing with us, to move with the music, to feel it in your body. smile at them, esp if you're close to the stage. make them feel welcome and heard and seen. we are sharing a moment in time together!!!
