Canon Couples and the Random Heights I Assigned Them

Just because I recently re-read this post and it's on my mind. Here's what I think these canon couples' final heights came to be and some justifications behind my thought process, as well as some headcanons. Let's start with my OTP -

Harry (6'1") and Ginny (5'0")

I'm kinda obsessed with the idea that 17yo Harry being the same height as his 21yo deceased father would grow just a couple more inches

Ginny being 5ft fits with her being the noticeably "smallest one" in the DoM during OOTP and with Harry being able to easily look over her head during the infamous First Kiss scene in HBP, putting her head at chest height of Harry (as of HBP)

Ginny is the only one who knows about Harry's petty satisfaction when he ran into Draco Malfoy some years after the war and realized he had continued to grow and Malfoy hadn't

James (5'11") and Lily (5'8")

Because they're both tall enough to be considered "tall", but not the kind of tall that is shocking

Lily being 5'8" makes her tall enough to have to look down at 14yo Harry in the graveyard scene of GOF

Ron (6'5") and Hermione (5'8")

In order for Fred and George to be "shorter and stockier" than 14yo Ron, but still slightly over 6ft so as to shrink to 5'11" in DH, I have to assume Ron's final height came to be one that most people would put in the "Holy shit you're tall" category

I know I'm going to get shouted at for Hermione's height, because she's never described as particularly tall in the books HOWEVER she's never described as particularly short either, just shorter than Harry

This 9 inch height difference give Ron & Hermione the perfect height difference for Ron to comfortably rest his chin on her head without having to hunch over awkwardly like Harry does with Ginny, so I'm sticking to it

Arthur (5'11") and Molly (4'11")

I know the movies made Arthur short and round, but he was described as thin in the books and all the Weasley boys wind up being pretty tall, so they had to get that from somewhere.

Molly is consistently described as short and dumpy throughout the series, and while Ginny is often compared to Molly physically, I just like the idea that Ginny managed to grow that extra inch that Molly never did.

Draco (6'0") and Astoria (5'11")

we know in DH Draco was slightly taller than Harry at the Malfoy Manor scene (p.457, U.S. edition of DH), so if we assume the like linked post above that Harry was 5'11" during DH, then I'd put Draco at 6 foot.

we literally know nothing about Astoria (CC doesn't count), but I picked 5'11" because it is the curse of all tall women to wind up with men roughly the same height

Lucius (5'10") and Narcissa (5'10")

we know Harry and Narcissa are the same height in HBP, so I put her at 5'10"

correct me if I'm wrong, but Lucius is never described as particularly tall, while Narcissa is. And of course, tall for a woman is average for a man. I put Lucius to be around around the same height as Narcissa because I just don't see Lucius' personality allowing him to be with a woman taller than himself.

Sorry, but for me J.K didn't write good romances. We don't know Astoria, Rolf and Hannah. Lupin and Tonks appeared out of nowhere. Jily is undrinkable. Hinny has little or no development over 7 books even though they have really known each other since volume 2. Romione is really not great from my point of view. Don't even get me started on Dumbledor and Grindelwald...

Bill & Fleur are the only ones, among the young characters, that I find cute and even then it's a very secondary couple. Honestly, Molly and Arthur are the only real Harry Potter goal couple in my eyes. And yet, they also haven't seen them much !

Harry Potter Post Wizarding War Headcanons

Heads up - there’s angst ❤️

Draco has scars all over the part of his arm where he has the death eater mark from scrubbing and scratching at it all the time

Hermione only wears long sleeves and jackets to cover up the mud blood tattoo from bellatrix

George has never been the same - yeah, he’ll smile and pretend he’s happy, but he’s not. He’s dead inside.

Harry has PTSD. He has to have full security at their house (he triple checks the doors and windows are locked so no one can get it, he always makes sure his kids are alive and okay, he sleeps facing Ginny so he knows she’s still there, etc)

Luna is generally liked more than she was before the battle of hogwarts. People respect and appreciate her more

Cho has a son called Cedric. Yeah, she’s married and happy but she’s never moved on from him

Neville gets along really well with Molly Weasley (he respects her and appreciates what she did to Bellatrix)

On the topic of Neville, his parents have been able to smile and feel free for the first time in 17 years after Bellatrixs death

Narcissa will never forgive Lucius for forcing draco into being a death eater - he’s her only child and she would do anything even if it meant destroying the world for him

Draco doesn’t allow scorpius to see or even mention Lucius since he’s scared Lucius will try and drag him down the path he dragged draco into

Hermione can’t handle screaming (she gets visions and flashbacks of her screams when Bellatrix tortured her)

Ron has dreams where it wasn’t just Fred, Remus, dumbledore and Snape who died, everyone he knew and loved was dead

Hagrid still feels the weight of Harry’s ‘corpse’ when he carries heavy things

Harry keeps the sock he gave Dobby under his pillow to remember him

George gets called Fred by people a lot… let’s just say he never fails to cry each time

Harry has wands everywhere, like in the most random places

Draco didn’t used to have a patronus

His boggart is his father

Molly can’t even look at George some days

Narcissa calls and sends letters to draco daily to make sure he’s alright and Lucius hasn’t come back in his life

Dracos patronus is Scorpius

Hermione never looks at her parents the same

She feels guilty for erasing their memory of her

Ginny is fiercely protective of her brothers and parents (just like Molly), every Sunday they all meet up at the burrow

At all of the Weasleys weddings, they leave an empty chair at the dining table and the aisle for fred and even have a plate and glass out for him along with a picture of him on the table

They do this at home aswell

George doesn’t allow Molly or Arthur to change anything about his and Fred’s room even after he moved out. It’s the only thing he has left of fred

Draco and Harry are friends (quite close actually)

George keeps Freds wand with him at all times

Lily II and James II are the SPITTING IMAGE of Lily and James (it’s genuinely uncanny)

Fred II also looks like Fred aswell

Hermione visits Lavenders grave a lot and apologises for hating her for the thing with Ron

Just finished Secrets and Masks by Emerald_Slytherin and I haven't been the same ever since. I thought that Manacled was my last straw and then I start reading THIS PIECE OF ART ??!! “Is the bachelor party that boring you decided to check on us via floo powder?” Astoria questioned Draco, sharp as the true Slytherin she used to be.

“Let’s just say, Nott and Zabini would even be a surprise at the wedding cause they’re so drunk. And all the Weasley’s hold alcohol really well? They want to do tequila shots, only Harry knows how to get that though out of us” I laughed with the girls at his pure misery, it didn’t sound bad at all.

“Tell you what Draco? Take this bottle to them and shove off” Ginny handed him a bottle of tequila we were going to have later, but oh well, it was for a good cause.

“Oh uh thank you” Draco slowly walked towards the door and shut it. The second it clicked we all burst out laughing, the moment too funny and best of all it was relived with my best friends.

You see Ginny and Draco can be friends because neither of them are funny to anyone but each other. Hpcc Ginny could tell a joke and you’d hear crickets but also Draco laughing from the other room. Draco tries to tell a joke to Scorpius and he just cringes but Ginny doubles over. It’s great it’s fantastic. They workshop together of course, and somehow become infinitely worse 🩷

oh DO i!!

scorpius gets a huge glow-up after hogwarts sometime around his mid twenties and everyone is shocked by it except albus (who always thought scorpius was drop dead gorgeous) and draco (who knew astoria’s model genes would kick in sooner or later)

i think most of nextgen would do better than their parents and not marry as mind bogglingly early as them. all except scorbus, who would probs marry each other at 19 or some ridiculous bs.

would have the weddings to end all weddings too. theres no “small intimate gathering” absolutely not, not with DRACO MALFOY being the grooms father 💀💀 its more fancy than the royals i swear its making headlines.

also albus would take on the malfoy name in my opinion. no hyphenation, just full integration

scorpius will be over at the potters house every second week just to suck up to all of them and win the favour of everyone especially ginny (because ginny is the alpha of the household). hes of the opinion that he cant ask albus to marry him unless everyone accepts him (they all do but scorpius doesn’t believe it for at least eight months).

he also tries to win rose’s favour but she pretends to not gaf just to fw him.

i always go back and forth between their careers, im never set on one. for scorpius i predominantly like the idea of him being a healer and going through the wizard-equivalent of med school because it just feels like something he would needlessly put himself through. i also like him doing a career he’s passionate about, like something to do with history, or working in a really obscure department of the ministry.

i fluctuate with albus’ career the MOST. i can see him working a desk job and hating it and being that guy whos disassociating staring at the clock on the wall waiting for his shift/workday to be over do he can go home and love all over his husband. i also see him quitting it all to go full house-husband/stay-at-home dad when he gets sick of it. but i think he’d like having a muggle career better than a wizard one.

albus does ALL the cooking. scorpius is BANNED from touching the kitchen because he burns everything (poor thing tries his best)

the only reason they didn’t move out immediately after graduating was because scorpius was scared to leave draco alone in the manor. so draco pretended to be sick of albus basically staying over at the manor every night to push scorpius to do what he wanted

i think scorpius and albus would move into a young-adultish flat/apartment when they first move in together, even though they can def afford a proper home 😭😭

they still literally follow each other everywhere. deadass cannot separate them.

ginny goes on solo holidays with the boys 😭😭💀💀💀

scorpius is an early waker and albus will sleep until 3pm if not roused. albus keeps wanting to wake up early to make scorpius breakfast in bed but alas hes not built for it…..

albus has to teach scorpius how to not be so ostentatious when buying things for their home or nursery or whatever. that boy has no idea how to save his money 💀

always go to family functions in matching accessories like ties or watches or socks or jewellery or SOMETHING. they just have to outdo all the other couples there smh.

also always wears matching pyjamas because they’re sickening

albus would be more passionate about following the tradition of naming their kids after stars/constellations than scorpius would be.

albus is very wifey material like he gives scorp the best massages after work, runs him hot baths, cooks and cleans, handles financials, spoils scorpius by buying him lots of things he likes (tbf scorpius is very easy to please), listens to his rants, so whenever scorpius feels hes not doing enough he’ll panic and buy out an entire cinema for a date night or something similarly corny 💀

albus gets the white streaks in his hair that make him a honorary malfoy

albus gets a pot belly when he’s older im so passionate about this

i also like the idea of scorpius needing to wear glasses when hes old too
