Heeeyyyy I'm doing voretober this year!!! (Or at least I'm gonna try to) and here's the first one!
Ao3 link
Space
Gem had a meeting. She had a deal with this guy who wanted to hire her for some bounty work. It was supposed to pay well, but he was sketchy and she wasn't sure if she trusted him- especially with where he asked to meet.
Chrysos was a gambling moon, once a wasteland turned into miles of casinos, bars, and other things made for either getting rich, wasted, or both. Everywhere felt sketchy as she walked through the streets of one of the cheaper towns- Taboonan. She was heading to a bar in a small alley, her trusty trident on her back and at the ready. Anything could happen, and for all she knew this deal was actually an ambush.
Gem took a breath through her gills before she entered the building, going straight for the bar as she kept her head low. She ordered a drink, just some water with some small fish to snack on as she waited. There weren't many people here, only a few at a table laughing and a couple in a corner whispering to each other, otherwise it was just her and the bartender. She noted that she was one of the larger species here, the only other of her stature being the bartender and his scales were reptilian, differing from her blue and orange ones meant for the water. Otherwise majority of the other patrons were furry, not much of a surprise since most fishfolk like her didn't get off planet much- it wasn't like everyone with gills could breath air.
Gem was taking a sip as she thought, chewing and swallowing a minnow as someone sat by her. A Gordon, another reptile but this one she knew from when he'd contacted her and her crew. She nodded to him and he smiled.
“Well it's good to see you showed up.” The naga spoke and Gem rolled her eyes.
“Of course I did, I don't go back on things.” Gem let out a huff and crossed her arms. She was a reputable bounty hunter after all.
He raised his hands in surrender, “Of course of course.” He nodded then motioned for the bartender, “I see you already got started on a drink, but lemme get you something from the area before we talk business.” He turned to the other reptile, “Two terran shots please.” Gem raised a brow as the bartender hurried through a door.
“So, while we wait, mind giving me those classified details?” She sipped on her water, there was only one fish left, swimming at the bottom.
The naga nodded, “Of course.” He smiled to her as if he was relaxed- he was still a foot shorter than her and definitely more skinny, it was obvious he'd be at the disadvantage if anything went wrong. “There's this guy calls himself X or whatever- he's in charge of this company that builds ships, lots of planning- well my employer would be very happy if they were to hear he just y'know… befell a deadly accident.” Gem knew who the naga was talking about, Xisuma. She'd done a few jobs from him before and he was always more than happy to fix her ship and help her crew out- she already knew she wouldn't take the deal, but was careful to control her face. She needed to know of this employer.
Gem opened her mouth to ask more, but as she did the bartender returned, setting two shot glasses in front of the two. “Thanks.” The naga nodded and slid a credit over- Gem wasn't paying attention though as she looked at the small glasses. They looked different than normal shots, lidded and void of any alcohol- but that wasn't the part she was focused on. Inside each was one tiny person, cramped and struggling to push the lid off. They didn't look like any alien she knew, but she could hear them talking, panicking about how to get out. The one in front of her hit on the side of their glass, their hair brown with green streaks and stubble- and she could tell he was shorter than the other.
Gem felt pale, this definition wasn't legal, for a multitude of reasons. “Sooooo….” She licked her dry lips, forcing herself to keep up the facade, needing the name of that employer. “What are these little guys?” She smiled playfully as she picked up the shot, the tiny person yelping as he got shaken around. She felt guilty, but if she could get through this she could get him out of here.
The naga smiled and picked up his own shot, “Humans,” He answered as he gave the glass a shake, the one in his hitting the sides a painful amount of times. “They're from that Earth planet, y'know the one with low oxygen mak'n everything tiny.” She held back a frown as the naga teased his human by licking the glass. “Taste pretty good apparently, and feel even better going down~”
“I see…” Was all Gem could mutter out as she looked down at her tiny human. He was glaring at her and held up a middle finger as soon as he noticed her staring- she snorted, yeah that was fair.
“You got a feisty one I see, those are always the best.” She looked back at the naga as he pulled the lid off his glass. She wanted to snatch it away from him as the human tried to climb out- but they weren't fast enough as he threw them back and swallowed almost immediately. “Aaahh…” He sighed and rubbed as the wiggling lump that soon disappeared into him. “Trust me, you'll love it~”
“I’m sure I will.” Gem forced a smile as she continued just holding her glass, avoiding eating the human if she could. “So about that employer-” She started, trying to get on topic.
“Lady, I don't like talking business until my associates join me, so c’mon try the little fella then I'll give the other details.” He smiled and something in Gem boiled. It was like he knew she was avoiding it.
“And I don't like taking jobs unless I know who I'm working for.” She growled, trying to intimidate the other- it didn't work as he smiled and shrugged.
“Guess we'll hire someone else then.” And that's exactly what she was afraid of- if she didn't know the name of this guy then they'd just hire someone else to kill X. The naga started to stand and she panicked.
“Well if a shot's all it takes to get the job.” Gem forced a sly smile, glad when the naga sat back down. She looked down at the human who'd pushed himself against the back of the glass, looking up at her nervously. She took a breath through her gills to stay calm as she started pulling the lid off.
●●●
Joel looked up at the alien fearfully but was trying desperately to hide it as her giant claws and webbed hand pulled the top off of the massive glass he was in. He didn't waste any time though, he'd spent too long watching these giant aliens and knowing they planned to eat him, as soon as the lid was off he pulled himself out and jumped off the alien's scales hand. He didn't get far though as he heard her make a shocked sound from above and soon another scales hand was in front of him and snatching him up.
“NO-” Joel squirmed and pushed at the hand around him, but it didn't budge at all as he felt it move. Soon light returned as the hand opened and he found himself closer to her mouth, staring into her green eyes. She looked different than most aliens that came, she had blue scales for starters, and no nose, orange fins that looked similar to hair and ears- and the thing he noticed most though, was her mouth full of very very sharp teeth. “Just put me down-” He shouted out, kicking errands fingers desperately.
In response though what he got was the alien opening her mouth, her tongue poking out as her hand moved closer. He tried to kick her mouth to get away but it didn't do much as he got thrown in, landing on the back of her tongue in a heap. Joel pushed himself up quickly and hurried back towards the front of her mouth, slipping and stumbling, but it made no difference as the opening soon closed and he was left in darkness. He took some deep breaths, trying to stay calm… until the tongue under him moved and he was suddenly squished into the top of the mouth. He groaned and squirmed, pushing down on the tongue but it only started moving him around and covering him in saliva. He felt gross as he tried to scoot forward- but soon the tongue started pushing him back and he felt the sucking before he heard it.
Gulk.
The alien swallowed and Joel yelled out as he got sucked down into her throat. It was tight and slimey, squishing and pulling him down at a constant rate until soon enough he was forced through a tight spot before falling into a larger area. Joel gasped and pushed himself up as soon as he landed and ran over to the wall, pushing and hitting at it. “Let me out blummin asshole!” He yelled, trying to hide his fear but his high pitch gave things away. He kept kicking and hitting at the fleshy, groaning wall, hoping to give the alien a stomach ache- instead the wall pressed in as she belched above him.
“Oh excuse me.” He heard the alien say and felt the stomach vibrate with her voice. “So about that employer-” There was more talking after that but he didn't pay any attention. He was trapped, going to be digested by some giant alien monster and there was nothing he could do.
Joel sat down and curled up. Maybe it'd be fast at least…
●●●
Gem felt sick as she walked out of the bar, having learned what she needed but having traumatized a human in the process. At least she had a storage stomach so he was safe, but he didn't know that… She sighed through her gills. She knew the employer, evil X, and now she could get the human home. That's what mattered.
She rubbed her belly and looked down as she walked through the streets back to where her ship and crew were waiting. “You doing okay in there?” She said quietly.
Things were silent for a while before the little guy answered, “What do you think.” He practically snarled back and Gem frowned.
“Sorry, I wasn't sure what else to do.” Her main stomach gurgled and she felt the human jump. She bit her lip, feeling guilty, “Don't worry you're safe in there-”
“Blummin Hell am I safe! I'm in you're fuckin’ stomach!” The human growled.
“No no no-” Gem hurried to say, “Not my main one. That one doesn't digest anything, perfectly safe!”
The human scoffed, “And why should I believe you?”
“Well- are you burning at all? In agony? Dead?” The human was quiet for a moment.
“No….” He answered quietly.
“Exactly.” She smiled, “You can trust me little guy and as soon as we're on my ship I'll spit ya up and Impulse can figure out how to get you home.”
“Impulse?”
“Yeah he's part of my crew- or team, we work together on bounties and stuff. Trust me you'll love em!” Gem's smile grew and she started walking a bit quicker to get back.
The human sighed, “Fine, as long as nobody else eats me.”
“I promise they won't!”

#so there's this person on twitter who is like an infamous drama starter and got a whole forum shut down once#and they wrote this (different) book that's one of the greatest so bad it's good things i've ever read#a few great things that happen in that:#characters get in a car crash and flee on foot. later it's casually mentioned one character had both her legs amputated 'due to fractures'#the character pretending to be american by wearing maga hats that have spy gear built into them#the spy gear in question is an alarm that blares if someone lies in their vicinity#'stuff protocol ' said the queen. 'i'm getting hammered tonight'#the chapter where the prime minister is trying to watch the news so she keeps wandering into bars and tv shops and getting kicked out#the dragon that's casually described as 'about the size of 1000 elephants'#the dragon that's a 'dog dragon hybrid with a chihuahua body and a giant dragon head'#the dragon that's owner punched it in the face and only lets people approach if they 'do the iconic royal wave'#the characters being described as 'the short one' 'the guy with the beard' etc#but there being a lengthy detailed description of the characters in harry potter#'apparently a dragon had burnt essex to cinders in a matter of minutes'#anyways i found out they also wrote (a political parody of indiana jones???) for this book of kids short stories years ago#and you know. we needed to know#so it took me like 4 months to track this precious lost media down#which was very worth it because it turns out it's full of many other iconic gems like CELLAR HELL by Elizabeth Elgie (12)

Prompt 60
Danny would like everyone to know that this was not his fault. It’s not his fault that another amulet got lost in the human realm (thank you Aragon, he hates you for this) nor is it his fault it’s been broken! He was just going to take it from the museum and was both invisible and intangible! It’s not his fault another thief got there first alongside a vigilante and they panicked when seeing the amulet started floating. It is so not his fault that there is now an entire city of dragon… dragon shifters… whatever! And it’s not his fault he’s stuck as a baby dragon right where the the amulet shattered, which leads to misunderstandings. How was he supposed to know this wasn’t his world and the english isn’t the same?!

happy some-number-of-days-till-halloween!
This year's halloween costume party features Aule for the group costume theme (he is also invited).
feanor's fire effect is achieved through slightly-glowy tiny gems sewed onto a bodysuit with actual stone chunks attached. the mini-Lamps are glass lanterns containing one silmaril each and carried on a really long fishing line by the ambarussa. feanor made a mini-angainor (complete with sock monkey melkor) just for the costume.
celegorm's orome costume is a slightly upgraded version of his costume from last year's party (x)
mahtan and nerdanel (as mairon) are the only ones who didn't have to get a wig/fake beard.
curufin spent more time helping feanor with the mini-Lamps and mini-Angainor than working on his own costume. also celebrimbaby is a dwarf because why would you *not* go as aule and a dwarf when you have a small toddler.

come here cyber.... we have this thang
Tumblr media
#mp answers#i've been trying so hard not to be annoying to my bnha friends but if you will allow me to push this for this ask let me say 🙏#if you're afraid of the episode count for one piece the manga is a lot quicker read while being just as enjoyable because the art style is#an actual delight. its great its fantastic im absolutely in love with it#the series is soooo good and i know luffy can seem unappealing to people before they start but he's just SUCH a great character & continues#to be even now. the story is SO GOOD the characters are SO GOOD... theres so much lore and world building that its insane#if you read the manga we get 'cover stories' on what's going on with previous characters to see what theyre up to even though we moved on#from where we left them. a lot of these cover stories blend into the main story so well its just seamless#there's one where we get introduced to a character we dont see hundreds of episodes into the anime and they show up like; during the second#saga. the series is about traveling to other islands and every single arc has been tied to another in some way or form that shows up later#even if its sagas and sagas later- it still becomes relevant again!! it's a huge ongoing story and there isnt a single arc that feels like#it has no purpose (sans filler in the anime-but even then!! some filler arcs are really entertaining!)#it's emotional! its sad! its downright stupid and silly but GOD... you can feel the love that oda put into this series and his characters#and the emotions in the expressions and the messages the story gives off it just makes me UEUHGHHAHGHH!!!#it's all about the adventure and the romance of it all! its about the freedom it brings and bringing freedom to others!#its a series where treasure should be a focus given its pirates and the its a giant treasure hunt for the one piece and yet! and yet so man#of the characters treasures are things that are not coins and gems but people and promises and family and and#im going to EXPLODE i love one piece

This is part 2 to Grit from day 6! I really love how this came out and I would be very down to write more in this AU in the future. Especially if you guys want it! So I hope you enjoy!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Grian’s brain might still have been foggy from sickness, but that didn’t mean he was an idiot. Gem had come to him suddenly a couple of days ago with medicine of all things. Not only that, but apparently at the right amount needed not to kill him. He tried to question her then but both Gem and his sickness wouldn’t let him. So he just took the medicine and fell asleep.
He was finally starting to get better. His fever had broken yesterday and his throat wasn’t as sore. He was still sick, of course, but he no longer thought he was going to die.
But Grian wasn’t an idiot and the fact that Gem was leading him through the walls while he was still sick was pulling big red flags for him. Gem refused to tell him where they were going, just that it would help him to make sure he would make a full recovery.
He wasn’t sure how Gem could promise that but when he thought about it he kept feeling this pit of dread in his stomach.
If he wasn’t still sick, he might have been able to figure it out. But as it was, his mind was still foggy and he was much too tired to think that hard.
He was pulled out of the walls, Gem not letting go off his hand the whole time. They were underneath the couch in the living room and Grian blinked slowly as he took in his surroundings. “Wait…aren’t the humans home?” Grian asked, trying to think through the thick fog. He was pretty sure it was late enough in the day that both humans were home from work but still early enough where they were awake. “What are we doing?”
Gem shushed him gently and Grian frowned. “Just trust me on this Grian, please.” Gem all but pleaded with him. Before Grian could answer her in turn, he was once again pulled along as Gem pulled them out from underneath the couch.
Grian blinked. This was wrong. “Gem, we shouldn’t be here.” He whispered, glancing around the room.
“Trust me.” She said again and Grian was getting tired of Gem not saying anything else. She then turned toward the expanse of the room and did the one thing Grian absolutely was not expecting. She yelled. “Impulse! Skizz!”
Suddenly, the floor below them started to shake, in the way that it did when humans were walking. Grian’s eyes widened as two humans rounded the corner. He felt frozen for only a moment before he tugged on Gem’s hand and tried to run back toward the couch. Back toward the safety of the walls.
But Gem didn’t budge, her hand only tightening its hold around his and now Grian was really starting to question everything.
“Hey Gem…oh, is that Grian?” The one wearing a yellow I on his shirt said. Grian’s mind went blank, more than it had been lately. The humans’ knew their names. The humans’ knew their names. He turned to Gem but she didn’t seem surprised by this at all.
Grian’s eyes widened even more when Gem answered back. “Yeah, he’s feeling a lot better but he’s still a bit out of it. I figured now would be a good time for you guys to check on him though.” Gem said. At her words, the two humans kneeled down, so close they could reach out and grab them. Grian continued to pull on Gem’s hand, trying to pull them to safety, but she stayed firm.
The other human, the one with scars all over his arms, furrowed his brows. “Uh, Gemstone, he looks…terrified.”
Gem bit her lip and in turn squeezed Grian’s hand even tighter. “I…didn’t exactly tell him about all of this.” Gem admitted.
“Well no wonder then.” The same human said, wincing.
“He wouldn’t have come if I did say anything. This was the only way. We need to make sure he’s going to be okay.” Gem said and then turned to Grian. He noticed the bit of guilt in her eyes but it was outshined by her determination and worry. “Grian, I promise you, they’re good. Okay? They were the ones who gave me the medicine that helped you.”
It took Grian a moment to connect all the dots, to follow along with their conversation. But when he did, he was horrified. “You…you’ve spoken to them before? You revealed yourself?”
Gem hesitated for only a moment before nodding. “I did it for you. I couldn’t just sit back and watch you die. Not when there was another option.”
“The other option is death for both of us! Or-Or becoming some humans’ pets.” Grian exclaimed, not understanding how Gem could do this. “Did you even stop to think that there are two of them and two of us? They’ve got one for each of them now!” Grian threw his hands up, though since Gem was still holding on to one, he ended up lifting her hand up as well.
Gem glared at him. “I would rather become a pet then have to sit back and watch you die!” She pulled their arms back down, tears filling her eyes. “I can’t lose you, Grian. If that meant sacrificing myself so you could have medicine then I was prepared to hand myself over.”
A throat being cleared pulled their attention away from each other and up toward the humans. There was definitely a mix of emotions going through the two of them. A mix of feeling awkward and sad and horrified were the ones Grian could make out. Which confused him.
“Hey now, uh, none of that is going to happen.” The one wearing the yellow I said, putting his hands up. “You’re not going to be…our-our pets.” He winced as he said it, sounding awkward.
“Yeah! We really do just want to help.” The other one chimed in.
Gem felt her cheeks heat up, forgetting for a moment that they were there. “I-I know that.” She turned back to Grian. “I do know. I’ve been coming back the last couple of days while you’ve been recovering to keep them updated and talk with them.” Her eyes softened. “They’re good. I promise.”
Grian didn’t even know what to do with the information that Gem had been talking with these humans for multiple days now. It went against everything they were ever taught as borrowers. He still felt like running away and cowering in fear. But the earnest look in Gem’s eyes made him pause.
“I…I don’t know…” Grian said, closing his eyes and hanging his head. He really was at a loss for what to do.
“Maybe it would be better if we introduced ourselves?” One of them said and Grian opened his eyes and looked up to meet the human’s. The human smiled. “I’m Skizz. And this is my buddy Impulse.” He wrapped a hand around Impulse’s shoulder, giving him a side hug. “Gemstone here came to us a few days ago and asked for our help and we couldn’t just not.”
“Why?” Grian asked, speaking to them for the first time.
“Because we’re not the kind of people to turn someone away in need.” Impulse explained, eyes soft.
Grian still didn’t fully trust them. “Or because you wanted the chance to grab the both of us.”
Impulse tilted his head. “Well, if that was the case. Why haven’t we done it already?”
Grian blinked, not expecting that. “What?”
“We could just grab you right now, you couldn’t stop us.” Impulse shrugged but his face revealed his true emotions. He didn’t like what he was saying but he knew he needed to say it. “So why haven’t we done it already?”
Grian…didn’t know what to say to that. His head hurt and not just from whatever remained of his sickness. It was true though. They were here, out in the open. There was nothing stopping the two humans from grabbing them and trapping them. But they…weren’t. And Grian had a feeling, that if he managed to get out of Gem’s grip and run back to the walls, they wouldn’t stop him then either.
“See?” Gem said and Grian focused back on her. “They had a lot of opportunities to grab even just me. But they never even reached toward me. Not even the first time I showed myself.” She grabbed Grian’s other hand and fully turned him toward her. “So please, let them look you over? Just so we know the medicine is working.”
Grian searched Gem’s eyes before hanging his head and sighing. “...Fine.”
“Thank you.” Gem said, eyes shining.
“Great!” Skizz said, smiling. “We should probably move this to the table then.” Gem nodded and then both humans stood up. Grian tried not to look, turning away. He noticed Gem doing the same. It seemed, despite her trust in them, it was still hard getting rid of certain fears.
The two humans started to head toward the couch so they could sit and Gem followed far behind, pulling Grian along to head over to the coffee table.
But as they started to walk, the dizziness hit Grian again suddenly. He groaned and placed his free hand on his head, trying to stop the room from spinning. Gem stopped and looked at him in concern. “Grian? Are you okay?”
He shook his head, not feeling up to lying right now. His mind had cleared when he had had that freak out over the humans knowing about him. But now that things had settled and Grian was calmer again, the fogginess and dizziness had seemed to come back tenfold.
He was vaguely aware the humans had come back over, kneeling again to see what was happening. “Should we do this another time?” Skizz asked, looking at Grian in concern.
Grian, surprisingly, was the one to shake his head. “We’ve already come this far.” He said, after taking a breath. “And-And I don’t want Gem to be as worried anymore. I just…I don’t think I can climb like this.”
“Well…” Impulse started, biting his lip. “You don’t…have to?”
Grian blinked, brain too foggy to process things well again. But Gem seemed to pick up on what Impulse meant. “I don’t know if that’s a good idea.”
“What?” Grian asked, wanting them to speak clearly.
“I could pick you up?” Impulse said. “And then bring you over to the coffee table.”
“Oh.” Grian said, now understanding. Gem looked just as nervous as Grian felt at that. But Grian was still thinking about it. “...Okay.”
Gem’s eyes widened. “Whoa, are you sure?”
Grian shrugged. He wasn’t really. “No, but you said you trusted them, right?” Gem nodded despite still looking nervous. “Then if I’m going through with this, which I want to for you, then I guess this is what we’ll have to do.”
He took a few shaky steps forward, toward Impulse and Skizz, Gem finally releasing his hand. He stood tall despite the dizziness hitting him hard and nodded at them. Impulse blinked, not really expecting Grian to agree. “Oh, uh, okay. Right, let’s see…” Impulse sounded just as nervous as Grian felt, which actually put him at ease a bit.
Impulse reached a hand out and Grian braced himself. But instead of being grabbed, Impulse placed his hand down, palm up, in front of Grian. Grian blinked at the offer. “Hop on whenever you’re ready.” Impulse said.
Grian stared at the hand for a good few moments before taking in a deep breath and stepping on. It felt weird. The surface was firm, squishy, and soft all at the same time. He made his way to the middle but didn’t really want to stay standing, so he plopped himself down into a seated position.
When Impulse was sure Grian was secure, he slowly lifted his hand up, standing as he did so. Grian closed his eyes at the feeling, only opening them again when Impulse stopped moving up. “You okay?” He asked and Grian nodded.
“Uh, did you want a lift too?” He heard Skizz ask Gem.
“No, but thank you Skizz.” Gem answered, still sounding nervous.
Impulse went over and sat down on the couch and then carefully lowered his hand and placed it on the coffee table. Despite the ride not being that bad, Grian still wasted no time in getting off the hand.
Skizz took a seat next to Impulse and Gem was not far behind, coming up and over the edge of the coffee table only a few minutes after Grian was set down.
As Impulse and Skizz set up, which included opening up google on their phones and searching some things, Gem came up next to him and gently bumped him with her arm. He looked over at her and she smiled. “Thank you for letting them do this.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Grian said, though he sent her a small smile. “Next time though, please tell me what’s going on ahead of time. I don’t think my heart can take another surprise like this.”
Gem hummed and grinned. “No promises.”
Grian snorted but he had expected that. He knew they still had a lot to talk about once they were back in the walls. But for now, Grian decided to put his trust in Gem and these humans. After all, it was thanks to the three of them that he was here in the first place.
He leaned against Gem and closed his eyes as he waited to be checked over.
Maybe the humans knowing about them wasn’t such a bad thing after all.
