This is the most underrated shot in any filler.
I mean….why are we arguing on who’s Gohan’s “real” dad when its obvious he has two?

I don't know how many times we have to say this but this is because the United States of America does not have public transit in any form that a European would recognize as such outside of a few very small, highly-dense municipal locations like NYC and Chicago, and having used both those systems and the U-Bahn i can firmly assert that the U-Bahn blows American subways into smithereens. we especially do not have accessible interstate passenger train service outside of that one commuter Amtrak loop in the northeast. the country is designed to force its citizens to use cars and only cars, and the government has made it policy to incentivize car ownership since the 1940s and punish any other form of transit, including just walking around. do you understand? the vast majority of roads here do not have bike lanes. when we do have bike lanes they are not protected by a curb or divider, they are just white lines painted on the asphalt. you will regularly encounter roads and streets--inside of cities and suburbs, not just in rural areas--that do not have sidewalks

Fiddleford goes to physical therapy for his posture when Ford and Stan head out on the sea for the first time. months pass. Tate nags at him to do his exercises, and Stan drags his twin away from the deck to get some rest every 16 hours.
by the time the Stans get back to Gravity Falls, it's winter and the ocean is no longer a pleasant place to adventure; their bones are old and don't handle the cold too well. Soos drives out to pick them up from the port.
Stan notes an unfamiliar form standing at the shack when they arrive, "Hey Soos, what's with the new guy?"
"He's not new, Stanley-" Ford is plastered to his window in the backseat and opens the door before the car's in park.
"Sixer! What's the deal?!"
Stan swings the car door wide open, about to give his idiot brother a piece of his mind on how to behave in front of little, impressionable, kids. When he rounds the hood of the car, he's greeted with an image he hasn't seen for a long while: Ford hugging someone. Not just any someone- judging by Tate's proximity and the notable absence of a small, bearded figure- it's McGucket.
Except the old man's now tall. Taller than Ford. As if his height wasn't enough, he also looks completely different: the beard's cut short and there's no hat covering his bald head. Now he resembles the roommate in the photos Ford brought onto the Stan O'War.
Tate's completely changed, too. Not physically, but you can tell from the way he stands close to McGucket and has a small smile on his face. He finally has his dad back.
Ford, he supposes, got someone back, too.
///
will make sequels to this from Tate, Fidds, and Ford's POVs. not the exact same story, but different snapshots of the same transformations. follow the FiddlefordGetsPT tag if you want to get updates
this was originally just supposed to be a post about how Fiddleford was taller pre-Portal!Ford so like with physical therapy and better posture would he be taller again? how would Ford take it? yeah whoops it became this

Wait... Dream was born on August 12, 1999 and Dream was arrested in the Disc Finale on January 20, 2021 soo... wait, wait, wait, that means he was only 21 when he was imprisoned for life in a small lava covered box!... Did I do that math right? 21?! Man was barely able to drink legally in the United States and they gave him a life sentence in a boiling cell with nothing but lava, raw potatoes, a clock, and some books?!... oh my god...

Are Jean and Neil the same age?
yep which is wild!! they’re both 19 turning 20 in the next year. i think Jean’s technically about 3-4 months older if you consider Nathaniel Wesisinski’s actual birthday (January 19th, 1988) not Neil Josten’s birthday (March 31st, 1987 - since that makes him a year older lol) and the foxhole court takes place in 2006-2007 year
Jean is 19 in tsc and nora said that Jean is a scorpio on twitter so that means his birthday is somewhere in October/November (my stab in the dark is October 29th, 1987, right before halloween seems to fit the vibe) meaning that jean will probably turn 20 in the next book

when does jason learn to drive?
cause according to a quick google search, you can't drive in new jersey until you're at least sixteen. and jason dies when he's fifteen.
he definitely didn't learn when he was comatose, and probably not with the league. did he have to teach himself? did bruce teach him before he died? did dick teach him to spite bruce? did he learn when he lived on the streets? does he somehow never learn and use it as an excuse to never drive any batkid around?
how many times did he crash before he finally figured it out? has officer grayson ever pulled him over for going 20 miles above the speed limit, asked for id, only for jason to just drive off? does he just drive like a maniac? do his siblings avoid driving with him at all costs to stay away? how many people has he tramuatized?

please send me good komaeda luck for my fourth road test tomorrow. hopefully no buses or trucks driving 40 mph in a residential neighborhood will appear in the first 3 seconds this time. I might even get an instructor with a bearable personality if I'm super lucky

Bradley grows up in the front seat of his mom's car and in the backseat of his uncle Tom's - soon to be called Pops - car. If Mav had a driver's licence, he would probably have sat a little here and a little there. It becomes part of his universe, and Bradley will end up cherishing every single conversation he had with both of them while they were driving. He won't get the chance to drive his mom around, to young to even reach all the pedals, but he is going to be old and capable enough to drive his pops to the hospital and back every time he needs to, and he will confine dad in the back because he made the mistake of having him in the front once and he got this close to stopping and leaving him miles from home.
At some point, it becomes pretty normal for Ice to sit on the back with Mav just so they can have a conversation, all three of them, with Maverick translating Ice's sign language.

irt poverty/homelessness + alcohol use (esp with @butchfeygela‘s tags on my post)- people really underestimate the function that substance use/alcohol use can have for someone who is unhoused. being unhoused is boring, cold, painful, + lonely. substances can allow the 8 hours panhandling to get the $45 you need for a motel to fly by. alcohol reduces your perception of the cold + can knock you out whben you can’t sleep. substances can help you cope with the physical deterioration from malnutrition, constant stress, + sleeping outside. substances can provide social connection with others who you would otherwise not enjoy or help you cope with being alone.
not only that but- many unhoused people are stuck in a seemingly inescapable position. the pathway to financial stability or even housing is difficult or even impossible. in the wake of that hopelessness, the downsides of substance use start to seem insignificant. arrest? you’re getting arrested anyway for sleeping outside, peeing outside, standing in the wrong place, etc. physical danger? you’re already beat the fuck up, anyway, right? loss of relationships? you’ve lost most people already. inability to keep a job? nobody will hire you + you can’t stay employed, anyway, because you have no car + no shower.
perhaps for you or me, the cons of heroin use or binge drinking nightly greatly outweigh the pros. that isn’t the case for everyone. if we are really serious about ending overdose/addiction, we need to start looking at giving people lives worth recovering into instead of shaming them for their own hopelessness.
