Another updated introduction
Tumblr media
A very warm "Hallo!" from Germany!
Call me Magnus, lvl 30+ senior nerd and fanboy from a town called Erfurt, seated in the german county of Thuringia.
I'm in fandoms since 1997; Star Wars was my first love and it will be my last. :'D
I'm not an artist or writer; I don't create much content (besides my TF2 cosplay blog, link in bio), but I like a good conversation and interacting with other fans the normal or the feels way. x) I love meeting new people for fanboying/girling. xD I reblog a lot and I enjoy your creations, especially fanfics, headcanons or fanart.
btw: Star Wars cosplays are planned for the end of 2023 and 2024!
My current main hype: STAR WARS: THE BAD BATCH (huge Tech simp with another small obsession to Echo qq)
More fandoms wich catch my whole attention:
+ Star Wars in general (Andor & RO, Mando & Book of Boba Fett, OT and PT, TCW)
+ Team Fortress 2 (check out my already named cosplay blog)
+ Star Trek (old series and movies until Kelvin timeline)
+ Mad Max (Ride eternal, shiny and chrome)
+ Firefly (more shiny!)
+ Futurama (waiting for new episodes so badly)
+ Transformers (G1, Armada, Animated, Prime, Movie '07, IDW)
+ Pacific Rim (but Part 2 sucks imho)
+ Brave Poilce J-Decker (so smol and nearly dead, the fandom ;_;)
+ Guardians of the Galaxy
I'm also a musician and I play piano and organ.
My favorite music genres: Metal, Epic Cinematic/Filmmusic and Hardstyle
You can find me on Twitter and Instagram, too. LInks in bio.
I'm looking forward for new people for simping, talking, laughing and crying about our favorite characters and fandoms. I live in constant denial, currently now. x)
Don't mind my bad english skills, it's not my native language. ^^;
Cheers and have a great day! ~Magnus~

I had a nerd moment today
So in my German class we were looking at paintings because culture and one of the paintings was The Sorrows of Telemachus
Tumblr media
My German teacher first asked: “Who is Telemachus?” I was the only one who raised their hands I simply said: “Telemachus is the son of Penelope and Odysseus, the king and queen of Ithica.” And then he asked: “Why is he sad?” And pointed at me I said: “Hid father hasn’t been home for 20 years.”
I got extremely giddy and excited that I got to talk about The Odyssey :3
Edit: He also said I was the only one to answer the question :3 and thank you Jorge for making Epic which taught me about The Odyssey.

Today in features that never made it into the Good Omens book/series: 60s female presenting Crowley, the Citroen 2CV and the mention of "psychedelic black" as revealed by @neil-gaiman in tumblr asks and the Script Book for season 1.
This largely self made cosplay "premiered" at the Proud Nerd Con in Goch and is based on a mix of 1960s fashion research and incredible fanarts of our favourite grumpy demon. The car belongs to hannah._.horror 🚘

Hometown Rambles
So! A post I made a few weeks ago has brought to my attention that a lot of people have never really heard of small, semi-insular American towns that manage to keep a pretty strong sense of heritage which is actually hecka exciting because it gives me a chance to tell you guys about where I grew up!!! Cause it's a really cool mix of Very Midwest America and the bits and pieces of 1860s Germany we kept with us!
First disclaimer: There are some communities that are wayyyy more entrenched and their heritage than ours. We have, admittedly, lost a lot throughout the years. But what we still have makes me really happy.
I grew up in a small, midwestern German-Catholic farm town. At this point, most of us don't speak German anymore, though there are still a few old folks left who do. In my family, my grandparents were the last generation to speak it. In the 1960s, they chose not to teach their children German. No one told me why, but I do think the cultural affects of WWII were a large part of it—my grandpa would tell stories about how they could only speak German in town during the war, and absolutely NOT when they went into the city. Pretty much everyone here has a surname of German origin, although it might be Americanized by this point. We've got lots of Kliens and Schneiders and Feldpausch(s).
Circa 1830, a bunch of German Catholic farmers came over to America from Rheinland-Pfalz and started our small town. The Catholic Parish that is running now is the same Parish that was founded early on, though the building (and name, I think) have changed. Most families here are still Catholic, and a lot of us can tell you which one of our ancestors came over on the boat (mine is 5 generations back, and I can name each grandfather to get there). Our cemetery has very well marked graves, so I grew up visiting the graves of all my great grandfathers. Even more so!! Every year the town historical society (yes, it's exactly what it sounds like) hosts "A Cemetery Walk." A few different members of the community who are buried in the cemetery are picked and close relatives are called and asked if they would like to represent their family members. The living family member then dresses as their ancestor and writes a little first person speech about the ancestor's life, and gives it at their grave side. Last year, I got to be my great grandmother and do a deep dive into her life.
While most of us don't speak German anymore, we do all know the first verse of Stille Nacht, because it's a Christmas tradition at our parish to sing it every Christmas Eve. It makes my dad cry.
In October, we have an Oktoberfest, which probably isn't a very authentic one, but we do our best. And every 4th of July, we serve Saurkruat at our parish festival. Also, beer is like the #1 beverage of choice in town. This bit is probably American, but everyone has an inexplicable obsession with gravy burgers? And I think a lot of time they are served with the saurkruat. Not sure the origin of that, but it's home 🤷🏼‍♀️
For a long time, my grandparents were able to stay in contact with some distant cousins in Germany (this was through my great grandmother's side, as her father was the one who immigrated, making it much easier to stay in contact). In the 80s, my grandpa and his brother got to visit them in Germany and see the house their grandfather left. The cousins were also able to come to America at some point.
We have a family farm and homestead that has been running for at least 4 generations. We have pictures upon pictures of relatives, and sometimes they aren't well labeled, so I have a lot of fun looking through postcards and pictures and matching people if I can, and sussing out stories from various records. Also! When the town turned 120 years old they made a town history book, that has all sorts of fun information. We also have a few individual family history books that trace genealogy that someone who is way more focused than me (and can probably read German) put together.
Our Midwestness and remenants of Germanness meet in the fact that family is *extremely important* in my community, but also pretty private. By that I mean everyone is super friendly and would help out any stranger in a pinch, but they are likely to keep family time closed, with less emphasis on found families than some other communities, particularly those in the American south. We also all prize good work ethic and resourcefulness, which in large part comes from being a farming community.
ANYWAY, these are just random things I can think of off the top of my head! This post is in no way trying to prove a point, I just genuinely really love this type of thing and wanted to share ♡
Also, in regards to the post that prompted this one, I wanted to say thank you to everyone who interacted. There were a lot of lovely responses, both assenting and dissenting to my point, that contributed to a flourishing discussion I really didn't expect. There were also a handful of passive or straight-up aggressive responses, but such is the way of the internet. Those ones don't bother me too much though, because I think those of us trying to foster unity and beauty through civil discussion and sharing things that matter to us are doing a lot more for the world that people on the internet bent on being unpleasant in comment sections.

Links to films I have hanging around
Most of these are either sci-fi or horror.
Please bear in mind the age of some of these films when watching they will not be 100% cohesive to modern views.
Most of these are links to internet archive. There are also links to wikipedia and youtube.
1920s- mainly german expressionism:
The cabinet of Dr Caligari (1920)
The man who laughs (1928)
Nerves (1919)
Nosferatu (1922)
Metropolis (1927)
Genuine (1920)
The phantom carriage (1921)
The Adventures of Prince Achmed (1926) <- oldest surviving animated film
Die Nibelungen (1924) -> i warn you it is 6 hours long. Has the first dragon ever shown on a screen though
Different from the others (1919)
This is one of my favourite films and also the saddest film I have ever watched. It is the first film to show homosexuality in a positive light.
The majority of the film was destroyed by the Nazis.
Definitely worth a watch if you are interested in LGBTQ history.
30s horror:
Frankenstein (1931)
The bride of Frankenstein (1935)
Dracula (1931)
M (1931)
Freaks (1932)
1940s:
The mark of Zorro (1940)
Sci-fi B movies:
The green slime (1968) <- my favourite
Fire maidens from outer space (1956)  <- worst film i have ever had the pleasure to watch
It came from outer space (1953) <- a classic
Animated:
La Planète sauvage (english version) (1973)
Akira   (1988)
Janos Vitez (1973)
Ballerina on boat  (1969)
Experimental:
Koyaanisqatsi (1982)
Musicals:
The rocky horror picture show (1975)
Little shop of horrors (1966) <- i am being slightly sneaky putting this here since this is actually the original film that inspired the musical
Cabaret:
Joel Grey live (1988)
Movie (1972)
Alan Cumming at the Donmar warehouse (1993) <- my favourite
A google drive of over the garden wall i found while getting these films

I've been thinking about where everybody sleeps in the German wing. We know Kurona, Isagi, Hiori and Yukimiya share a dorm room.
This seems harmonious. With the exception of Yukimiya and Isagi's tiff between the Barcha and Manshine matches, this group of four get on quite well. They're all well-mannered and respectful individuals (off the pitch). Perhaps they all agreed to bunk together.
If four to a room is standard, my headcanon is that the next room is occupied by these guys:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Raichi, Igaguri and Gagamaru are a package deal at this point. They're used to each other's quirks. Neru's cheerful enough to fit in with their clique. I can see him agreeing to room with the other three.
It seems likely that the German players may sleep separately to the Blue Lock players. While there's no evidence for this, we also don't see co-mingling between the two cohorts outside of matches, besides Kaiser barging into the locker-room or using communal areas like the training/AV rooms. Dorming separately also gives everyone a chance to take out the translators during rest periods.
If the German dorms are separate from the Blue Lock ones, then that leaves these two:

Bringing us to the point of this post.
An elaborate ploy to make you imagine these two as the world's most anti-social roommates.

So one of the things I enjoy when I do deep dives on characters is checking what their names are in other languages. Sometimes the results are pretty meh/whatever (be it because it's the same name or otherwise), sometimes they're hilarious and sometimes there are some interesting ideas and implications.
Here's one for our darling and friend of the show, Cipher Admin Ein. [Tldr at the bottom]
In the German version of Pokémon Colosseum Ein is known as Professor Culpa. Aside from giving him a nice title that I'm sure he loves and implying an academic background (to the surprise of no one), culpa is Latin and means guilt, fault or blame.
It's also technically grammatically feminine, but hey, leave the poor man be.
This is, for lack of a better term, kind of deep if you consider how he's one of, if not the main culprit (pun intended) and brains behind the creation of Shadow Pokémon, with his research enabling what are considered to be quite horrific acts in-universe - from what Cipher does to Pokémon to the all the crimes they committed in Orre using Shadow Pokémon.
There is a bit of a spiritual and/or religious angle to it too. Some of you may be familiar with the Confiteor, one of the prayers of the Penitential Act in the Catholic Church, also used in the Lutheran and Anglican Church. It contains the following passage (translation below, emphasis mine):
Confiteor Deo omnipotenti, et vobis fratres [et sorores], quia peccavi nimis cogitatione, verbo, opere et omissione: mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.
I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers [and sisters], that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault.
Tldr: German Ein gets weirdly deep and is probably going to hell for his sins, especially since he's not sorry at all.

Where do you think Kunsel would be from? Where was he born and/or raised? How many languages can he speak(has he ever confused everyone in a room by speaking a dead language that no one had heard before)??
He's a bonafide city rat born and raised in Midgar, but I like to headcanon him as having north continent blood (i.e. Icicle Inn or Bone Village, maybe even Modeoheim?); growing up speaking the native language at home with his parents, the ffvii universe's version of North Germanic languages. Think Norwegian or Swedish, etc. But he's a bit rusty and he speaks with a Midgar accent.

Looking closer at Adelheid, she appears to be resembling more of Hetty than Fanny when it comes to time period.
Adelheid’s dress and hairstyle are typical of 1870s-1890s, same as Hetty. Whereas Fanny is from the Edwardian era (1910s) and you can definitely tell the difference.

just watched the bl & chill interview and it's just so delightful to see how much more confident joong has gotten speaking english compared to the hidden agenda era interviews from a year and a half ago. like, he still gets a little shy sometimes or switches to thai for some stories/explanations, but still, he's sooo much more talkative now in english, it's sweet
