An original piece from the series “Code”, oil on paper, 35 x 35 cm, 2018.
The European travelers who made the grand tour in Italy in the nineteenth century, brought back home, in their drawings and memories, a romantic, bucolic, partly false image of the country. They started the journey with a predefined idea and expected to find that, so they were able to see ancient ruins in idyllic landscapes, ignoring the poverty and misery surrounding them. In the same way the map of a city can become a plot of memories or even the falsification of memories. There will be in that map some gaps, or forgotten parts, and parts that we remember as we would like them to have been and not for how they really were. The map can become a personal and intimate diary, where we record our experiences. That map can even become the abstract representation of the ideal life we would have liked to live, a melancholic outline of our regrets and broken dreams.

The only problem with being in a small village in the middle of the desert is there were very few places to hide. You turned a corner around a sandstone building into an alleyway. They obviously understood the crystal's value if they were pursuing you so intently. Peaking around the crates, you saw a few of the goons run down the street past the alley, but you weren't brave enough to get away yet.
"Fuck!" You shrieked, a hand having grabbed your braid at the base, hauling you out of your hiding hole. Your hands grappled at his, trying to get him to let you go, legs scrambling on the ground.

"Drop the knife." This new man's voice was steady, strong, and you felt safe already. You heard the blade clatter on the ground, and the hold on your braid released, so you scrambled away from the gangster. Instead of going forward, you basically crawled around and behind the aggressor, and stopped once you were safely behind your rescuer. Sighing in relief at the news, you opened your satchel and pulled the crystal out. It wasn't refined and it was pretty heavy. You handed the rock to him and he looked it over, holding it easily with one hand while he holstered his blaster. The thin but tight black shirt he had on under his utility vest struggled over his chest as he did so, when he spoke you finally brought your attention away.
"This is a diamond, doll." He smiled and your jaw dropped. No wonder it was so valuable. That would make sense why the Assembly Headquarters wanted it, they had the largest bank on the planet.

"Are you bringing it to the capital?"
"Yes."
"You will probably have more of those gangsters plus anyone else who finds out after you, why don't I escort you?"

For Monet, gardens offered a refuge from the modern urban and industrial world, although he and his fellow garden enthusiasts benefited from modern advances in botanical science that were creating new hybrid flowers in a wide choice of shapes and colours that could be produced on an almost industrial scale. He made modest gardens in the homes he rented in Argenteuil and Vetheuil in the 1870s, but from 1883, when he moved to a rented house in Giverny, about 50 miles to the west of Paris, he had more scope to indulge his passion for plants. He became a dedicated gardener with an extensive botanical knowledge, and sought the opinions of leading horticulturalists. As Monet’s career flourished his increasing wealth enabled him to fund what became a grand horticultural enterprise: by the 1890s he was employing as many as eight gardeners.
Monet began by refashioning the garden in front of the house, the so-called ‘Clos Normand’, replacing the existing kitchen garden and orchard with densely planted colourful flower beds that were filled with blooms throughout the seasons. He was able to buy the house in 1890, and three years later he purchased an adjacent plot of land next to the river Epte beyond the railway line at the edge of his property. The plot had a small pond with arrowhead and wild water lilies, which he wanted to turn into a water garden with a larger lily pond ‘both for the pleasure of the eye and for the purpose of having subjects to paint’.
The idea may have occurred to him after he had seen the water garden at the 1899 Exposition Universelle in Paris created by the grower Joseph Bory Latour-Marliac, who bred the first colourful hardy waterlilies. Monet began by requesting permission from the Prefect of the Eure to dig irrigation channels from the Ru – a branch of the Epte – to feed his pond, but the Giverny villagers objected, fearing it would contaminate the water and that the foreign plants would poison their cattle. Monet was furious, but three months later permission came through and he began to enlarge the existing pond, replacing the wild water lilies with Latour-Marliac hybrids available in yellows, pinks, whites and violets.
The pond was enlarged on further occasions – in 1901 and 1904 – tripling the size of the water garden. Together with the flower garden on the other side of the railway track it became the principal preoccupation of the last 26 years of Monet’s life. While the Clos Normand garden was laid out along fairly traditional lines, harking back to the formal French gardens of seventeenth-century Europe, with a central alleyway and geometrically arranged beds, the water garden was more Eastern in inspiration. Its less regimented, more natural design and more muted colours created a quieter, meditative atmosphere. Monet erected a Japanese bridge over the western end of the pond that took its inspiration from the bridges in ukiyo-e Japanese prints. He was a keen collector of these prints and he owned a copy of Hiroshige’s Wisteria at Kameido Tenjin Shrine (1856), one of the many prints that features a curved bridge. In a more general sense, the water garden reflected Monet’s admiration for the Japanese appreciation of nature.
Monet had to wait for his water garden to mature before he could begin to paint it in earnest. As he later recalled: ‘It took me some time to understand my water-lilies. It takes more than a day to get under your skin. And then all at once, I had the revelation – how wonderful my pond was – and reached for my palette. I’ve hardly had any other subject since that moment.’ In total, Monet painted 250 canvases of his water garden. Around 200 of these represent water lilies floating on the surface of the water, while the remainder also show the Japanese bridge, the weeping willow trees and wisteria and the irises, agapanthus and day lilies on its banks. In all these pictures Monet was painting a subject that was already ‘pictorial’ – a landscape that had been carefully composed according to his personal aesthetic. The National Gallery has three further paintings of the water garden :Water-lilies, setting sun; Irises; and Water-lilies.
Monet painted three views of the Japanese bridge in 1895, not long after it had been constructed, but then took a break from the subject, only returning to it in 1899. By now the pool was overhung by vegetation and surrounded by plants, but to judge from contemporary photographs it was never as enclosed as Monet painted it, and he exaggerated the feeling of claustrophobia. In December 1900 he exhibited 12 paintings at Durand-Ruel’s gallery in Paris, all of which showed more or less symmetrical views of the Japanese bridge.
In this painting, as in the others in the series, we are looking down onto the surface of the water, where the lily pads float into the distance, meeting the dense foliage on the far bank. Weeping willows are reflected in the pond and clumps of iris border its banks. The perspective seems to shift so that it is hard to find a single focal point; it is as though we are looking up at the bridge but down on the waterlilies. The picture, like the water itself, seems to oscillate between surface and depth. The mainly vertical reflections provide a counterpoint to the horizontal clumps of the lily pads. Different colours, applied with thick brushstrokes, are placed next to each other. This way of painting has more in common with Monet’s early Impressionist works than his more recent paintings of mornings on the Seine, where he had used softer, more blended strokes to convey hazy atmospheric effects.
The Japanese bridge series marked a turning point in Monet’s art. From now on his subjects were painted from an increasingly confined viewpoint, conveying the sense of an enclosed world. In later paintings of the pond, he would dispense with the banks and bridge altogether to focus solely on the water, the reflections and the water lilies. The culmination of Monet’s water lily paintings were the Grandes Dėcorations, 22 enormous canvases each over two metres high and totalling more than 90 metres in length, which he completed months before his death and donated to the French state. These are now on permanent display in two oval rooms in the Musée de l’Orangerie, Paris.

Now that I'm into Bagginshield, I explore the possibilities of it, and I gotta say, Frodo growing up dwarrow in Erebor is something I particularly like.

some misc thoughts on ka bue worldbuilding! specifically relating to expressions
more thoughts under the cut!
my main concept for the Expressions as a whole revolves around names. essentially, an Expression can only exist with a literal expression of their Name somewhere in the world - their name being some sort of singular symbol / kanji / radical that represents their form, function, and essentially being. the first physical form of their name is their anchor (Expressions can change anchors though), and the more permanent the anchor is, the more powerful the Expression is. however, the more offerings - aka, further expressions of their Name an Expression recieves, the more powerful they become on top of their preexisting power from the permanence of their anchor. i imagine there's an entire scholarly split in ka bue revolving around whether One Big Elaborate Naming is more powerful or many smaller repetitive names is. for the most part though they both have about the same effect, which is why you see both shinto-style paper prayers attached to the pillars of the little shrine and a significant amount of more elaborate Offerings piled up around the anchor to the Expression.
- bonus thought here about little kids learning to Craft stone into geometric shapes as being the equivalent of vaugardians learning to craft clay into moving change god figurines! ka bue is pretty clearly Against / neutral to change and movement especially compared to Transgender Heaven Vaugarde, so i thought this was apt - there is also something here about the open-plan nature of the temple (wind can move freely through it, and people can visit and leave as they please) but i don't quite have enough thought here to fulfill it fully in worldbuilding. so i will leave the thought here for someone else to hopefully pick up - similar to shintoism, i imagine there are a lot of expressions dedicated to unique locations and places. for example, there are a lot of local Expressions (this one is one of them) that are specifically tasked with guarding a certain rural village or blessing a certain graveyard. the bigger and more popular expressions (victory, search, protection, luck, etc) are invoked much more often and by extension have far more elaborate temples though, probably located centrally in major cities. - bonus thought that i haven't really explored here about a bunch of the most famous temples being underground caves, due to the gem connections. - these temples would also probably have the expression names carved into them, similar to arabic architecture (see the alhambra's carvings) carving the name of god in stone into their walls. which btw i still think is one of the coolest things humans have done i LOVE spanish and arabian architecture
- some bonus thoughts about gems! i mainly conceptualized them in the doodles as being primarily anchors for expressions (metal and gems are prime expression worship material due to their permanence meaning that you can permanently express the Expression) but i also had a thought while typing up this tumblr post that maybe entire family trees could be represented this way as physical metal-and-gem trees, since odile mentions that people are commonly turned into gems. - bonus thought here regarding odile's "gems alive" swear - if gems are the remains of passed ancestors, not only is she swearing by her / other ancestors (which is very distinctly east asian) but also saying something along the lines of 'the dead are coming back to life because of how insane this is'. which i thought was funny - one final scribble regarding prayer flags! i imagine the paper prayers people write to Expressions as filling a very similar niche as shinto ofuda/shide and buddhist prayer flags, that is small throwaway prayers that gain power when accumulated in large amounts. and more importantly they look cool as hell - i don't know how common prayer trees would be (in my research shintoism commonly worships trees, and china also often venerates especially old trees (there are trees in beijing that are supposedly over 1000 years old, and some that are confirmed over 800 years old) so i think ka bue might do the same? maybe??? trees aren't really permanent though which is kind of more what i was going for in my head regarding their cultural beliefs. you can cut down a tree but you can't easily destroy a gem

A Massive Roman Mosaic Found in Turkey
A monumental discovery has been made in Elazig, Türkiye, where an 84-square-meter mosaic from the Late Roman and Early Byzantine period has been unearthed, marking a significant first for the country.
The mosaic was accidentally found by local farmer Mehmet Emin Sualp while digging a hole to plant saplings. Noticing distinctive patterns beneath the surface, he reported his findings to the Elazig Museum Directorate and local authorities. Subsequent investigations confirmed that the intricate floor mosaic dates back to the Roman and Early Byzantine eras.
Unique features:
What sets this mosaic apart is not only its size but also its artistic detail. Featuring a variety of animal and plant depictions, including lions, mountain goats, ducks, and trees, the mosaic is noted for its unique borders and geometric patterns.
Elazig Governor Numan Hatipoglu described it as one of the largest mosaic pieces discovered in the region, showcasing a vibrant representation of local wildlife and flora.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, excavation and rescue operations were launched, leading to the careful uncovering of the mosaic. The ongoing efforts have revealed additional historical structures, including a church and a wine cellar, suggesting a rich archaeological site in Salkaya village, located just 14 kilometers from Elazig city center.
“This is an incredible find for our region,” stated Governor Hatipoglu. “The vibrant representation of local fauna, including bears, wild boars, and various deer species, vividly reflects the area’s biodiversity during the Roman and Byzantine periods.” He emphasized the significance of this discovery and indicated that further excavations could reveal even more historical artifacts, potentially leading to a strategic development for exhibitions in the future.
Farmer’s journey to ancient mosaic’s discovery
Mehmet Emin Sualp, who purchased the land for ₺120,000 ($3,500) in 2020, expressed astonishment at the value of his find.
“I noticed the mosaic while planting. Since then, I’ve been involved in the excavation work. It’s impossible to assign a monetary value to this discovery now. The museum will know best what this site is worth,” he remarked, highlighting the importance of preserving such archaeological treasures.
This groundbreaking discovery not only enhances our understanding of Türkiye’s rich historical landscape but also underscores the significance of archaeological heritage in the region.
The mosaic is expected to attract attention from researchers and tourists alike, placing Elazig on the map as a key location for historical exploration.

Is Ryloth based on Algeria?
A while back, some friends and I had an interesting discussion about why Star Wars has the Twi'lek speak with French accent, and the implication that Ryloth could perhaps be inspired by a country formerly colonized by France.
We discovered there were A LOT of parallels between Ryloth and the country of Algeria
Political History & Colonialism
Algeria became a colony of France after they invaded it in 1830. Their conquest of Algeria has been called a genocide, and they perpetrated countless atrocities- starvation, epidemics, retaliation for resistance, etc. During that time period, there were popular revolts against the French occupation, and insurgent groups, guerilla warfare, etc., particularly in the decade prior to their independence, which Algerians finally won in 1962.
Ryloth's rulers/most powerful political official(s) are always shown as off-world, corrupt, disconnected from the life and struggles of its people, and allowing the people and resources of the planet to exploited. First, this is under Senator Orn Free Taa, then Separatist occupation, then the Empire.
Throughout that same history of oppression and exploitation, we also see armed resistance movements and guerilla fighters, like the Twi'lek Resistance and the Free Ryloth Movement.
Geography
Algeria is the largest country in Africa. It contains a significant portion of the Sahara Desert, and hosts many impressive rock formations.
Ryloth is a large planet on the Outer Rim. Whenever we see Ryloth on-screen, it almost always shows the desert, is peppered with incredible rock formations, gorges, etc.
Architecture
The homes and structures we see on Ryloth are reminiscent of traditional &/or vernacular mud-brick architecture in Algeria and its neighbor, Morocco. For example:
The Syndulla House
Numa's Village (from The Clone Wars S1E20)
The Capital City (from The Clone Wars S1E21)
Interior Design
We also see themes and details that are strongly reminiscent of Islamic architecture in, for example, the design of the Syndulla family's home.
This is also true of simpler homes, like the ones in Numa's village from The Clone Wars, which utilize subtle geometric motifs and Arabesque patterned windows.
Art
Mosaic art was one of the hallmarks of Roman and Byzantine and Islamic Empires, all of which Algeria was part of, and had their history and culture influenced by.
The Syndulla family portrait is a mosaic.
Head Coverings
The vast majority of Algerians identify as Muslim. It's very common practice for Muslim women to wear the hijab, which covers their hair.
Every time we see a female Twi'lek on-screen she is wearing a head-band or head-covering. We very rarely see male Twi'lek do so.
Language and Accents
As a remnant of the legacy of French colonialism, French is widely spoken and understood in Algeria, though its official language is Arabic.
Many Twi'lek speak Galactic Basic, and do so with a French-sounding accent, though Twi'leki is their native language.

Skyward Sword Skyloft Aesthetic
I love the aesthetic of Skyloft so let's analyze it and see what makes it tick. This will be a long post with lots and lots of photos.
First of all, In Skyloft there are two very different styles of architecture:
Ancient architecture, which are the stately grey stone structures like the light tower in the plaza and around the Statue of the Goddess (as well as various locations on the surface)
And the Skyloftian architecture, which is much more round, colorful and whimsical than the ancient architecture. I will be focusing on the Skyloftian architecture.
Skyloftian houses are built underground with one exposed side facing out. The roofs are flat and often have paths or grass growing on them in order to maximize surface area and places to walk. Each house is unique and is personalized to the occupant.
Non-house buildings like the bazaar, knight academy, and the Lumpy Pumpkin are built above-ground and have varying kinds of roofs, from wood to bamboo, to tented rugs.
Interior walls generally follow this pattern: the walls are painted (or possibly frescoed) with a primary color--it's not a solid color, but with a dappled 'paintbrush-stroke' pattern. Decorative stones or tiles of a contrasting color are placed in a horizontal wavy line in the bottom half of the wall and in another line near the ceiling.
At the base, is a layer of stones of a different color. Structurally, this is likely a foundational base on which the walls are constructed to protect them from groundwater damage, like in cob (a certain kind of mud-cement) house construction.
Buildings and rooms tend to be curvy or round and often have whimsical features built in, like the oven in the kitchen and the bird faucet and tiled round bathing pool in the bathroom of the Knight Academy. In houses, sinks and counters are sometimes built into the wall. This is another feature you see frequently in cob house construction.
In fact, the Skyloftian style of architecture seems to have taken heavy inspiration from cob house construction. Cob is a building material that is made of local mud with additives to turn it into cement with hay or grass mixed in. The cob is mounded up into the shape of the walls and sealed with sealant and plaster. It is very quick to construct cob buildings and they are highly customizable. Building made of cob tend to be whimsical--look up images and see for yourself.
Furniture is made with wood and often has decorative tiling, painting, or carvings in them.
In terms of decorations, the most common motifs are geometric designs, floral and plant designs, and bird-themed designs. Bright colors are preferred, and almost everything in the whole game, but especially in Skyloft, has a pink or purple tinge/undertone to it.
One thing Skyloftians love are ornate rugs. Every room and every house has a rug, usually multiple rugs. Each rug is unique, brightly colored, and usually geometric in design.
There is even an entire (unmanned) shop in the bazaar full of rugs and other textiles.
Other decorations you might find in homes and buildings are pots, vases, bottles, and plates with colorful designs
Lace, stuffed animals, decorative pillows
Turkish lamps, wall hangings, table placemats or a table runner
Mobiles and decorative ceiling hangings
Remlit tree
And some rooms/houses are themed, for example, Fledge's room has a tropical island theme.
Outdoors, the village is decorated with multi-colored banners, buntings, pinwheels, flags, and flowers.
Together all these things construct the aesthetic and style of Skyloft: rounded and curvy buildings, cob-style construction, geometric, floral and bird designs, bright colors, ornate rugs, pots, Turkish lamps, stained glass, wood carvings, and lots and lots of whimsy.

"A night on the village"
Basket is woven from red and yellow cedar bark
Lisa Telford, American, born in 1957 is a weaver who creates contemporary garments, shoes and other objects using Northwest Coast style weaving techniques. Her work serves as a commentary on Native identity, stereotypes and fashion.
Born in Ketchikan Alaska, Telford is a Gawa Git’ans Git’anee Haida Weaver and comes from a long line of weavers including her grandmother, mother, aunt, cousins, and daughter. She learned the traditional techniques of Haida basketry from her mentor Delores Churchill, and Haida cedar garments thanks to Holly Churchill. She began weaving in 1992, and for twelve years closely followed the tradition that form must follow function. It wasn’t until a friend asked her to submit a contemporary basket for a show that Lisa experimented beyond the borders of traditional form. This opened a door for her, and in 2004 she was asked to design a contemporary cedar-clothing piece for a show. She used traditional methods and materials, but felt more confident and inspired to experiment – creating a contemporary clothing item from cedar.
With her National Artist Fellowship from Native Arts and Cultures Foundation, Lisa collaborated with Preston Singletary (Tlingit), known for his glass art. Preston has developed techniques to mimic the woven texture of basketry, paying homage to the geometric border designs of traditional Northwest Coast baskets. Lisa worked with Preston in his Seattle, Wash. based hot glass studio learning the hands-on skills of working with glass, how to incorporate designs and shapes, and experimenting with forms such as dress figures, working collaboratively as a designer with Preston. They hope to create some new and compelling pieces, joining their expertise from their respective disciplines.

Cheyenne
The Cheyenne are a North American Native nation, originally from the Great Lakes region, who migrated to modern-day Minnesota and then to areas in North Dakota and further southwest. They are associated with the Plains Indians culture and, after mastering the horse, became one of the most powerful nations of the American West.
Initially hunter-gatherers, the Cheyenne adopted agriculture and lived in permanent dwellings, raising crops that included wild rice. Some of the Cheyenne's defining characteristics are given by scholar Michael G. Johnson:
they lived in fixed villages, practiced agriculture, and made pottery, but lost these arts after being driven out onto the Plains to become nomadic bison hunters. They became one of the focal points of the Plains culture, characterized by tipi dwelling, development of age-graded male societies, geometrical art, and the development of the ceremonial world renewal complex, the Sun Dance. (118)
After their migration from the Great Lakes region, caused by the influx of other Native peoples into the area, they abandoned permanent settlements for a nomadic lifestyle, adopted the teepee (tipi) as housing, and followed the buffalo, which, like with other Plains Indians nations, was their primary food source. At first, they used dogs as pack animals to move their villages, but, after they mastered the horse in the 17th century, horses became their central mode of transportation as well as a status symbol of wealth and power.
They spoke (and still speak) the Cheyenne language which belongs to the Algonquian language group and allied themselves with the Arapaho, another Algonquian-speaking nation, in the early 19th century. The Cheyenne and Arapaho have continued their relationship up through the present day.
They hold to an animistic religious belief that all life is sacred, imbued with a spirit, and interconnected. Religious rituals include the Sun Dance, which is said to have been given to them by their great prophet Sweet Medicine, who also instituted formal government, societal structure, and the original four military societies that would become increasingly important in the wars of the 19th century fought against Euro-American expansion across their lands and the genocidal policies of the US government.
Conflicts with the US Army, the mass slaughter of the buffalo by white hunters to eliminate their food source, and the introduction of European diseases greatly reduced the number of Cheyenne throughout the 19th century, during which they were forced onto reservations as more of their land was taken by white settlers. Today the majority of the Northern Cheyenne live on the reservation in Montana while most of the Southern Cheyenne live on the reservations in Oklahoma.
Name & Nation
The name they are most commonly known by was given by the Sioux. Scholar Adele Nozedar comments:
The name Cheyenne was, for a while, believed to be derived from the French word for "dog" which is chien, since this people had a noted society of Dog Soldiers. However, the name is actually a Sioux word meaning "people of different speech." The Cheyenne name for themselves, Tsistsistas, means "beautiful people." (93)
The meaning of Tsistsistas has actually been translated in several ways, including "the people", "like-minded people", and "like-hearted people." They called their homelands Tsiihistano, meaning "home of the people," which, at the height of Cheyenne power, stretched from Montana to Texas and their economy depended on the great herds of bison, which they hunted across these lands seasonally.
The Cheyenne nation, originally of three groups, expanded to ten prior to the 19th century, including:

These ten make up "the people" of the Cheyenne nation, who are represented by delegates to the governing body known as the Council of Forty-Four, but there are other bands who are also considered Cheyenne. Further, the nation is divided into the people known as Northern Cheyenne and Southern Cheyenne.

Guess who woke up early and couldn't get back to sleep!

It's been three days and two nights already in these forsaken wetlands, for as much as the beheaded could care it's been too many days feeling the wet atmosphere of this lake at this point any frog like attempt of ninja is going to feel their wrath. They took on a quest with drifter to find some sort of geometrical shape in the floors, this usually only take one night and then they would be back on the guardian base, but this time it's taking longer and with each day the drifter look more confused and lost that the day before, this annoys the beheaded more than anything.
What's annoying the beheaded the most is the fact that they have been sleeping out in this place,the fact that they have to protect their flame at night with all the rain and water almost everywhere is driving them inside, of course is not surprised they lost their temper once drifter suggest another night there.
-"THAT'S IT!"- the beheaded signed angrily, the flame topping brightly again the now settling sun -" WE ARE GOING BACK!"-
The drifter gives the beheaded a look of annoyance,he himself hasn't slept particularly well in the lake as well, somehow the wet atmosphere of the easter watershelf is making his coughing worst keeping him awake at night and confused in the morning, although he feels close to were the next module is, he can't go back.
-" you're over reacting, it's only one more night we'll find it in the morning " drifter spoke calmly as he started to find any remote dry spot to put on a campfire.
Before the drifter could walk further he felt something grabbing his arm and in a matter of seconds getting lift up, his stomach now resting over the beheaded's shoulder as his body is secure by one of the beheaded's arm, he's getting carried away... literally.
-" WAIT WHAT ARE YOU DOING!"- the drifter kicked away and the only result was his legs getting grabbed by the beheaded's free arm, without calling the defeat drifter hit the beheaded's back -" what are you thinking,put me down!"-
The only response he got was a slight tilt in the beheaded's flame with what it looks like an annoyed look, then the beheaded started walking, he kept trying to set free but to be fair the beheaded got him locked in place any time he tried to move or squirm away the beheaded's grip would only get more tight, after a few minutes the drifter surrender.
-"at least you know we're going....?" Drifter spoke annoyed, his body already dangling against the beheaded back.He felt two taps in his back, a way to translate a "yes" when the beheaded can't communicate with their hands.-" can you put me down then?"- a single tap, "no".
It took the beheaded a short walk but they managed to carry the drifter all the way to a pad, they stood in the middle waiting.
-"are you for real doing this.."- the drifter turned his body a bit to look at the beheaded, two taps against his back is all he got as he's still locked in the beheaded's grip. Drifter sighed and took out the warping pad a few quick taps and the warping pad shined up.
Once they arrived he couldn't be more thankful that it's dark already, no one in the village seems around as the utter embarrassment of been carried away couldn't eat the drifter more, his thoughts were interrupted as the beheaded walked towards the guardian base taking him off balance and gripping on the beheaded back.
Once inside he felt the beheaded slightly change posture, once again the feeling of getting lift up taking him out of the blue, instead this time his been placed back down on the floor and all he sees is the slight frown in the beheaded's flame.
-"you look like a wet cat, you should shower or something"- the beheaded signed, his flame now calmed down
-"are you for real scolding me, do I look like a child to yo-" drifter started ranting slowly annoying the beheaded once again, don't blame the guy they been out in a wet area with you body been only supported by a flame can only result on a tick bomb.
Once again this time lest gentle the drifter got picked up again, the now fuming beheaded now basically dragging the drifter, the drifter could see his drone almost laughing at him as the beheaded successfully made its way to what remains of a makeshift bathroom.
He was once again left down and the beheaded left the room. Defeated drifter just turn back and finally took that warm shower that his body so desperately needed. With his now wet cape and clothes left hanging to dry he head out to the common area of the small house to see the beheaded already sucked in the couch, the soft cracking sound of the beheaded's flame was the only thing anyone can heard.
-"you're an ass sometimes"- drifter spoke before letting himself sink in the couch as well next to the beheaded, he could feel the raising and falling of the beheaded's shoulder as they laughed
-" you like it"- it's all the beheaded signs before pulling the drifter closer-" besides you looked cute, little princess.." the beheaded signed as the drifter punched they shoulder, only ending in them now laughing more.
-" fuck you..."- the drifter spoke with a laugh as what he said ment something else, both them now giggling as they lay into each other. It didn't take long for both to be out, both arms of the beheaded wrapped protectively on the drifter, now both dry and warm could finally take on a good nap.
....
By the morning the drifter left quiet only to roam the town, a quick visit to the dojo could help him warm up for the day.
As quiet as always he entered the dojo, all was calm, the sword master training the little one again, although something was different.
-" morning princess"- the drifter turned to look at Altie, the dog hybrid now laughing at him.
Wait....did she call him princess...
-" you saw nothing!"- it's all the drifter spoke before her laughter filled the whole dojo.
He's doomed, she's gonna tell everyone...

Three Rivers Petroglyph Site is a hidden gem, often overlooked by visitors traveling to White Sands or Ruidoso. It is located off US-54 at the end of a winding country road, 17 miles north of the Village of Tularosa. People in the area named the site based on three streams that converge there: Indian Creek, Golondrina Creek, and Three Rivers. Archaeologists credit the Mogollon with leaving thousands of images in the area: humans, birds, fish, insects, plants, geometric and abstract designs. The plethora of petroglyphs adorn the basalt boulders lining a low ridge at the north end of the Tularosa Basin, dispersed across 50+ acres.

George Copeland Ault, Ninth Avenue, 1924. Oil on canvas.
Living in Greenwich Village in the 1920s, George Ault depicted the buildings of New York City with a distinct style of simplified forms, solid colors and extreme angles. Painted in 1924, Ninth Avenue is a dynamic example of Ault's unique form of Precisionism, incorporating elements of Surrealism to create a sense of disquiet amidst the vibrant streets of the city.
In the present work, Ault takes a perspective from under the Ninth Avenue El, which was the first elevated railway in New York and operated between 1868 and 1940. Highlighting the sleek lines and repetitive nature of the architecture around this modern transportation hub, Ault minimizes the cityscape to its most basic geometric forms and executes the composition in flat planes of primary colors. In the foreground, an elegant woman walks her adorable dog, and brilliantly colored cars are parked at regular intervals along either side. The vertical supports of the rail platform emphasize the intense one-point perspective of the scene; as a result, the road and trolley tracks seem to very rapidly recede into the distance as the block-like buildings squeeze closer and closer from both directions. The underlying tension within this outwardly bright, modern cityscape is further underscored by the vibrant signage, which tantalizes the viewer's curiosity but remains largely illegible behind various obstructions.
Ault once referred to New York as "the Inferno without the fire," and the nuances of the present work illustrate that duality that captivated and inspired his many views of the city.

As Roberta Smith has written of the artist, "Ault's firm, unflamboyant way with a brush, his feeling for a building's austere, carefully dovetailed planes and, above all, his love of light as painting's form-giving, mood-setting force, sustained him at nearly every turn, in any direction he chose to move ... He brought to his various scenes an idiosyncratic poetry and a sadness that was neither hidden nor indulged, but kept at an arm's length with a sense of dignity that, strangely enough, could almost be celebratory. In Ault's paintings, one feels that he loved life, even if life did not particularly love him."

Lin Fanglu (b. 1989, Chinese) is a fiber artist who uses tie-dyeing techniques to create beautiful sculptures.
Fanglu Lin began working with fabrics as the main medium for her work in 2014 when she traveled to Zhoucheng village in the city of Dali, Yunnan, China. As she studied tie-dyeing techniques of the Bai minority ethnic group with local artisan women, she became fascinated with the process of tying, the step so fundamental in creating patterns on the famous blue and white Bai fabrics, and yet so paradoxically underappreciated. Hours, days, and months of strenuous work and dedication lay silently under an alluring excess of texture, shapes, and patterns. In the traditional process of crafting tie-die fabrics, all knots come undone after dyeing. The thread is cut and removed, rigorously folded pleats and stitches responsible for elaborated patterns become the fleeting memories - the evanescent glow of anonymous backbreaking manual labor on the finished dyed fabric. Fanglu Lin makes the scrupulous needlework the defining feature of her art. With the simplest of auxiliary tools, she transforms plain fabric into undulating landscapes of knots and pleats, just like the artisan women in Dali. Rather than making flat works, the artist experiments with complicated geometrical patterns and traditional types of stitching she has learned in the village, pushing the pliable medium into three dimensions, producing tactile objects of art that entice viewers to reach out and touch them.
