You’re constantly calling out “bestie boos” for being irrational, so let’s see if you can take what you dish out. Why does a 30-something, able bodied white man need to be coddled and wrapped in a blanket every time he has an unpleasant thought? And why is it the responsibility of others, be it Eddie, Bobby, or Maddie (who, btw, have all comforted him LOADS of times since the beginning; these said characters receive it…almost never). I think the fact that his teammates aren’t indulging his every negative emotion is a good thing. Buck, god love him but not surprisingly, is making something that has nothing to do with him about himself and is again seeking external validation. His friends aren’t evil incarnate for not dropping everything to hold his hand.

Plus, I could counter that I sure didn’t see Buck comforting Eddie in that last episode! Instead he threw his best friend into a dangerous situation within 24 hrs after a rough conversation with his son and mother. But I’m not saying that because I have media literacy, I don’t baby any of these grown adults, and know what a healthy best friend dynamic looks like. It’s not about keeping score, it’s about knowing each other. Buck needs to learn how not to spiral and scowl because he doesn’t have a boss for the time being who considers him his own child—that doesn’t happen in the real world.

keep reading if youve seen it or dont care about spoilers but tldr: if you havent seen it and see this as a spin off movie instead of a 4th installment, i say go watch it. its basically how i feel about the 2024 mean girls movie, im just here for certain characters, dynamics and songs, and a bit of the actual plot, its fun but definitely not for everyone, i liked parts of the movie/plots tho

okay honestly overall, despite the fucking terrible rushed ass ending, i still honestly enjoyed a lot of aspects of this movie.

songs, generally i liked. yeah its all pop-y but yk, none of them were unbearable, i loop red, whats my name (red vers.) and love aint it what about it

the editing was. a choice at times. like it will cut at the most random moments and when red was being transported and fell from that. pipe. thing in the castle it was so. disney channel editing core LIKE OKAY I KNOWW OFC IT IS but grahhhhhHH

the cg was good, direction was. also a choice at times. idk how to explain it but it felt like every scene was being directed like a music video and not like a MOVIE esp the lighting oh my god idk what it is but its so GLOWY AND WEIRDD

the characters themselves, i love the main cast, red, chloe, ella, bridget, etc. were all cool. IM A FIRM RED/CHLOE SHIPPER THEY ARE GIRLFRIENDS IDC and i also liked the dynamic they have with their past moms it was nice

oh yeah i dont mind how they wrote mal, evie, jay, and ben outta the story, i mean they gotta explain their absence yk. and i loved the carlos tribute, you can tell china was genuinely not acting in that tribute scene.

the vks were. okay. i dont mind that literally every villain/princess/disney protag goes to high school. this whole series basically feature length fanfiction anyway, idc personally about that. its weird URSULAS SISTER was the main antagonist. like i get having a completely new villain aside from the vks parents or something but. ursulas. sister??? besides you could tell me shes ursula and ill believe you.

imagine. during the dance chloe and red are scrambling to find the watch, they see the vks, they find bridget crying because her best friend isnt there, she thinks ella bailed on her, they have to find the watch but, they gotta make her feel better right? red comforts her while chloe chases after them to find the watch, ella comes to the dance late after deciding, fuck my stepmom, get your hands dirty parallels, something something, the four of them all stopping the vks together, THEN they travel back.

i should just write a fix it fic for this movie at this point damnn i impressed myself

but yeah the ending does leave a lot of plot holes, if bridget didnt change from the past WHO DID, if Red even CONSIDERED a VK in this timeline? if not then WHO IS IT?? IS IT CHLOE?? its hella rushed, its ass, but i guess we'll find out in the 5th movie ig

also i thought they were totally setting it up for Ella to be the one that humiliated Bridget in the past, like the "I saw through her" in Love Ain't It we NEVER GOT ANY CLOSURE FROM THAT WHAT HAPPENED?? sighhh its okay its fine

i see this movie as a spin off movie rather than a 4th installment of the universe because it pretty much is, like its basically its OWN universe with the lack of the og cast and new characters. i unofficially coin it as the "Descendants: Redverse" because it just makes more sense

so many questions, mainly WHY, but yeah, still liked it, would rewatch. certain. parts of it. but honestly? a 7/10. leaning towards a 7.5

honestly i love mcc i love competitive minecraft but the game just isn’t fun for anyone anymore. lots of players have dropped out are talking of dropping out or go on stream saying things like ‘this is the first mcc i’ve actually enjoyed in a while’ . like. thats not the sign that an event is successful . and i don’t really think that’s scott’s or the developers faults but it’s more so the culture around mcc that has changed drastically in the past year or so.

when i first started watching it, mcc was about cc’s learning to work together and competing in a fun event where there was no real stakes except the winners got a fun little token. mccs rise in popularity has snowballed a little to develop this culture of expectancy . as with all fanbases, some fans become a little too engrossed in the content and become a little overbearing about it creating this toxic culture of criticism under the guise of analysis . this isn’t to say that all mcc analysts are toxic or that the concept of vod reviewing and analysing a players performance is bad- but the attitude that a lot of the more vocal fans have been taking towards this has been .mm . not the best .

forcing players into rigid boxes based on their performance records and dogpiling them if they undeperform or over glorifying a players for performing above their average etc, it creates a competitive culture amongst fans trying to prove who suppprts the better player . very much ‘my dad is stronger than your dad’ kind of vibe.

this whole attitude also makes it less enjoyable for the players who may now feel a lot of pressure to conform to the expectations of their fans- of course everyone tries their best every event but if someone’s having a bad performance they’re more likely to experience genuine discomfort and self confidence issues continuing in the event because they know what people are expecting of them . even for lower ranking players it can affect self confidence because nobody expects anything of them .

its marketed deeply throughout the fandom as a for fun event with people who are naturally competitive being shunned for their competitive attitude but logging online and seeing people hating some people winning, hating on other teams for knocking their team out of top 2, refusing to congratulate the winners, even complaining over and over again that some aspects of the event like pvp and parkour are unfair to their streamer because their streamer ain’t good at them to the point where pvp and parkour games had their coin distribution rules changed . that doesn’t scream for fun behaviour .

that’s another thing . random changes to games that don’t necessarily need to be changed . the buildmart changes were good it make it easier to navigate and allowed people to move between sections faster and featured some new builds, the sky battle coin distribution prioritising the amount of time you survive over kills actually undermines the point of the game as a pvp heavy event . instead of fighting people you can get away with playing more defensively . we already have survival games for survivability . same goes for remixes i don’t think they typically go down well . some might but majority don’t tend to have a good reception .

even within the players themselves, there’s because quite a cliquey kind of dynamic where if the team with the most support doesn’t win, the winners are not congratulated. take last night for example . ponk and gumi scored their first wins, ponk being the first black person and as far as i can remember gumi being the second woc and first asian woman to win an mcc . let’s not even get into the diversity of mcc right now but only two people came into the voice call which lasted a while after the event to congratulate the team, only sylvee and scott and a few replies on twitter . ‘oh but the captain’ idc . i love him too but he didn’t win and it was a big day for the team that did with 50% of the team getting their first win and they played really well together. looking again at fan behaviour towards creators some players have felt unwelcome by the pressure of the competitive dynamic called bad sports for being upset with their own underperforming and alienated by the community for having multiple wins or because they just don’t want them in the event . that doesn’t scream for fun . and that in itself is really bad sportsmanship .

i think overall what started to kill mcc was it’s pandering really. i’ve fully done research on how scott puts together teams before but i still believe a lot of what goes into a team is how well it will be received. it doesn’t really force creators to get to know each other and work with each other it just takes groups of people who already know each other have relationships with each other and have relationships that are recognisable to the fanbase . this doesn’t allow people to meet and find new creators they might enjoy to watch and it prioritises some teams as the Ones To Watch because of certain dynamics pres t which undermines any smaller creators trying to make their way into the event . the insistence on changing games based on viewer complaints as opposed to suggestions from players themselves on how things can be improved is just odd to me too .

idk man mcc just isn’t what it used to be and a lot of people are becoming way too entitled over what they want to see there

i feel like their dynamic has changed in the new dan and tray series. they don't seem to like or support each other as much, or at least trayaurus doesn't to dan. it's fine, but it's a shame. i do think they genuinely like each other.

i don't know how many people have read the graphic novel but the way they were interacting in that book as just scientist and assistant supporting each other (with occassional pranks and sillies between them) is what i love to see. i eat it up.

idc if this seems cringe. i love them. i think they're adorable and i love drawing them being happy and silly and hugging and breaking the laws of the universe and sitting together watching the sunset and taking grim on walks together in the desert.

WELL. Firstly this will probably be romantic in nature bcuz I am simply a girlie who loves bi4bi jeanee and I know u dont ship them but YKNOW!!!

Hmm. This is not something I've ever thought about, honestly. There's just soooo many things to consider. Would he go to school, make friends there? What would his life look like? His trauma from the raven's has probably fundamentally shaped a large portion of his personality because of how severe and constant it was. It's so genuinely hard for me to consider what he would be like as a person if he was never sold to the Moriyama's.

But I can just ALWAYS see him being a gentle person, and I can see him working well with Renee no matter the circumstances. If she had met him when things weren't how they were in canon, if he didn't have so so much to work through, I can imagine them having a very simple and easy romantic relationship. I can see them having such a peaceful, beautiful life together. But it's also like, I do believe he latched onto Renee and fell for her partly because she was one of the first people to show him care and kindness.... she literally saved his LIFE and that shapes a lot of their relationship, shapes how important she is to Jean. And I think Renee understands people like Jean and Andrew specifically because of what all of them have gone through. She understands misunderstood people who struggle with trauma and mental health problems.

Regardless, I would give anything for Elodie to be alive and to see Jean grow up with her. I imagine Renee would get along so well with Elodie too :,) and she would totally admire how gentle and loving Jean is towards his sister. And Elodie would ADORE Renee for sure. Imagine Jean and Renee just being "best friends" at the start, but Elodie pestering Jean to make a move on Renee bcuz she loves Renee so much and wants Renee to be part of their family.

I can also see Jean just being such a WifeGuy. Like absolutely obsessed w his beautiful gf wifey Renee. MY OPINIONS!!

i don’t like peter sometimes i hate him sometimes i despise him he irritates me. younger peter and older idc either one. he is way too much of a follower first of all how people characterize him shows it too what he likes plants, he’s not great at school, he follows james around? its about all i can remember he’s just not a character that sticks for me. also as a person who cherishes friends to the end of time and could NEVER purposely hurt them? i just no. also in a lot of characterizations even regulus hates him. maybe if he had more characterizations that interested me it would change.

i like bartylus way more than rosekiller it might be a common dynamic, but the way they both love obsessively and its borderline insane to the point its unhealthy? you’re telling me those 2 can’t match each other’s energy to a T? those two have such an interesting thing with each other i could watch a 24 hour movie explaining it.

also the girls are so looked over and watered down depending on the fanfic GIVE THEM FLAVOR! this is why i love crimson rivers a big chunk being dorcas’s feelings? yes.

disabled people are not accessories, if you make remus disabled just for fun you’re part of the problem i love disabled representation as a disabled person myself, but were not fun add ons. that being said if you genuinely see him as disabled or someone else im not talking to you also be accurate or don’t do it at all.

i rewatched inspector gadget 2 again and i’m in shambles. the pacing is really good. that’s such a treat because bad pacing in movies is one of my top peeves so i love that IG2 gave us that! also gadget and G2’s dynamic is SOOOO cool godddd i love them so much. they’re written so well. G2 is very strange and autistic. not your run of the mill love interest at all. she’s portrayed perfectly imo and i love how her character changes over the movie but it’s not overbearing; just the right amount.

she always remains very robotic and logical throughout the movie, and when she does show affection towards gadget it’s very in keeping with her personality. they didn’t fumble her like i was worried they might, which is so refreshing.

that one scene where gadget and penny emerge from the smoke and G2 realizes they survived the explosion is SO important to me. she’s just so happy to see them alive, so she greets gadget excitedly and gives him a chaste and awkward hug, which he is too stunned to reciprocate. it’s just,,, PERFECT,,, it feels so sincere and sweet! the movie handles their relationship SO well and it’s all i could have asked for and more.

AND ANOTHER THING. when gadget sneaks in and reactivates G2, that scene is so touching to me. she’s amazed that she’s still alive and asks him why he saved her. gadget tells her that he admires her skills, a little nervous because it’s hard not to outright confess his crush. which is cute. but i really love the scene because she catches on instantly, smiling and thanking him for reviving her. it’s soft, they don’t rush into a kiss or anything, and for maybe the first time in the movie the two seem to genuinely be on the same page - no drama or tension, they’re just happy to see each other. i think that moment kind of lays the foundation for their friendship honestly.

we get a kiss at the end, which i 100000% enjoyed call me a sap idc. it was adorable and they deserved it. i just like that, all things considered, their relationship was not rushed [despite gadget being head over heels from the beginning] and i like that his crush on her didn’t seem like his only motivation for helping or saving her. it was certainly up front, but he respected her. he’s stupid at the best of times and has little concept of personal space but at no moment did their interactions feel forced or uncomfortable, i guess i should say.

like, i can’t stop thinking about Movie Set of the original series, where . i don’t even want to get into it 😭 that episode is INSANE. but i’m just saying. IG2 handled the love interest perfectly imo and didn’t feel forced or icky, like some scenes with gadget and lana for example. gadget having the hots for G2 was immediately established and constantly built on for comedic effect, but he treated her with respect and offered kindness to her in moments of vulnerability [scene where chief quimbly says they’re shutting her down] without a hint of ulterior motive. he wants to be her friend and partner. it makes me get out of my seat and whoop and cheer. whatever man i love robots

OH AND FORGOT TO MENTION BUT 💥💥💥 in the scene where G2 is first revealed, i LOVE that at the moment quimbly says “she’s 100% robot!” gadget goes into a ridiculous daydream about her LMAOOO it’s just so vital to me that he wants this weird robot gal. she is so unnatural and weird and i love that this not only seems to not bother gadget, but even be part of the charm..? BRO I COULD TALK ALL DAY ABOUT HOW MUCH I LOVE THAT DETAIL

why I like them: could have been SO GOOD in theory okay? I will never shut up about this because "character who everyone thinks is evil is actually just the victim of a smear campaign and some really bigoted propaganda" is SUCH a good character concept and I wish darkling fans were right about him because it would be so fucking cool and aesthetic

why I don't: he uh. he isn't that. he could have been so fucking iconic and instead he was just a vicious murderer. who grooms teenage girls.

favourite episode/scene: LOVE the bit where alina stabs his hand in s1e8. tbf that's more of a fav alina moment than anything else lmao, let me think... okay fr I love the "fine. make me your villain" scene bc it just really showcases who he is as a character and how he sees himself (hint: those two things are not the same)

favourite season/movie: imo he's better written in s1 of the show than in s2, idk though. and I do love his story in the kos duology lmao

favourite line: that one bit in rule of wolves where he says "everything I have done has been for ravka" because it's so clearly Not True and yet.... he clearly thinks it is.... so where does intent stop and impact begin...... it's deep okay

favourite outfit: purely for shits and giggles I'm going to say his black kefta in s2 where there's bits of gold bc I loveeee people being haunted by those they've wronged and I think alina haunting him really fits into that theme

otp: no thank you! in all honesty he prob could have been Fixed™ if he'd had a genuine relationship at an earlier age but he didn't so I refuse to inflict him on any other character. darkolai is interesting to consider though bc I feel like the ways they see themselves clash so heavily.... it's about self image and it's about villainy and law and justice and power and and and. they would Not be a good relationship but I think they should interact more for the Narrative

brotp: his sister ulla! they'd have such a fun sibling dynamic lmao I think it'd be sweet

headcanon: tbh I don't tend to think about him much beyond the big narrative stuff so I'm struggling to think of something that fits the genre of "headcanon".... but let's humanise him a little! I bet he reads really literary fiction and gets ever-so-slightly pretentious about it lmao

unpopular opinion: is it unpopular to say that despite his original good intentions he's a bit of a dickhead and not as smart as he thinks he is? in some corners of the fandom it totally is but idk

a wish: at this point there's not much more that could be done with his character beyond what's already been set up (him being mercy killed so he's not suffering in the thorn wood for all eternity) so I'm going to say that I hope his stans get better reading comprehension bc dear GOD some of the takes I see (posted in the alina tag btw I'm not deliberately seeking them out) are absolutely horrendous. is that too salty? perhaps. idc though it's my blog and darkling stans are free to block me if they don't like my takes

an oh-god-please-don't-ever-happen: I swear if he goes NEAR alina genya or zoya again I will reach through the fourth wall to kill him myself. only half joking btw I'd be so pissed. imo they've all had the closure they need narratively and for him to seek them out again would be a dick move of the highest degree

sexuality headcanon: i like to headcanon kira as a lesbian! as a lesbian myself, viewing her that way makes me happy. ik it kinda contradicts with canon but idc lol. i definitely see her as being some kind of sapphic at the very least.

gender headcanon: a little boring of me perhaps but i just see her as being a cis woman, lol

a ship i have with said character: REALLY big fan of kira/cretak. the sexual and romantic tension between them was off the charts. part of me likes to believe that they somehow reunited post canon. i know they'd be enemies again at first after what cretak did and how she deceived kira, but i feel like there's definitely the potential for a spark to get rekindled there 😏

a brotp i have with said character: kira and odo! i have very mixed feelings about them being in a romantic relationship in canon, but regardless of that i love them as a platonic duo and think they're so funny but also very interesting together. kira in general has a lot of brotps for me, i would say i also adore her dynamic with dax and with sisko. i like how she's initially so suspicious and jaded towards sisko but comes to be like close family to him by the end of ds9.

a notp i have with said character: kira/dukat. a big fucking NOPE from me personally. i think he should stay a million kilometres away from her at all times

a random headcanon: i think that she returns to visit and leave flowers at tekeny ghemor's grave at least once a year for basically the rest of her life. her grudge against him for hiding stuff from her and participating in cardassian atrocities never fully goes away, but she loves him and he was family to her. i like to think she finds his actual daughter one day too

general opinion of said character: i love her. SO MUCH. love everyone from ds9 but she is one of my favs for sure. she's such a nuanced character and her character arc is so satisfying, i love seeing her become more open and happy and learning to trust others bc for the first time in her life she's surrounded by kind people who love her. also i love that she was genuinely a terrorist in the past and fully admits to killing innocent people for her cause. her past is definitely morally grey and although she had noble intentions she did some genuinely awful stuff, and i find that so interesting. i don't think an american tv show today would portray someone like her as a good guy/sympathetic main character, especially a show considered "family viewing" like star trek. the nuance and grey morality of the characters is one of the best things about ds9 for me in general. kira especially is awesome i just love her
