Tis the season for activated charcoal being added to foods for aesthetic, so here's your reminder to be careful if you're on any important medications because enough activated charcoal will nullify the effects
#generally there's not enough in things like ice cream or smoothies or whatever to make a huge difference#but honestly it's just not worth the risk if you rely on medication to function#also if you're abled/healthy but on the birth control pill you should take care#I'm so curious how many birth control babies are actually activated charcoal trend babies

I enjoy reading your content đ Would I be able to request twice x reader? Reader gets their wisdom teeth removed and they're still affected by the medication so the members have to deal with chaotic antics?
Alternatively, it could be how the members handle their s/o when they're drunk?
i love the laughing gas idea LOL this ended up kinda more like laughing gas + postop caretaking hcs because twice is soft and definitely takes care of their loved ones with diff love languages
CW: just fluff, brief mention of surgery healing
nayeon:
thinks youâre the cutest and funniest ever, gets extra cuddly because she canât get enough of you
kinda feeds into/encourages/plays with ur silliness and confusion a little bit (but in like, a responsible way)
records everything to laugh at later
feeds you applesauce and ice cream and sweet smoothies off a spoon, all the definitely healthy wisdom tooth foods (and definitely isnât taking advantage of the situation to have some of it too)
jeongyeon:
clowns you but also like takes care of youâŠbut yeah totally clowns you as she does so
is concerned about your healing and makes you sleep even though you arenât sleepy anymore and kinda bored
lets you play games on her phone
generally stays by your side because she doesnât trust u to like. function responsibly, gets a bit frustrated when your poor judgment defies her advice
momo:
just finds the whole business/dopey you hilarious
is recording and sharing all of it in the member group chat
finds it a great reason to stay home all day with you
wonât let you walk from room to room alone, as if you had surgery on your legs and not your teeth
sana:
thinks youâre the sweetest thing ever, babies you even though you might find it a bit over the top
constantly asking if youâre okay and if she can get you anything
is clingy almost more for herself than for you
is sweet about making sure your morale is up but also gets very serious about taking care of you
jihyo:
ultimate mom mode activate, she thinks youâre silly in like a warm and âoh y/nâ kind of way
chases others away from bothering you
her caretaker instincts mean she usually knows what you need (cold pack, warm pack, painkillers, nourishment, sleep) and you donât dare defy doctor jihyos orders
is very stringent about keeping you on the painkillers scheduled regimen
mina:
did all the careful research ahead of time, read the entire thirty page recovery packet front to back
cant help but laugh at you when youâre dopey, tries to fruitlessly remind you of what reality is
is very gentle about waking you up for your meds and meals and everything to keep up with
plays minecraft pocket edition with you when youâre bored
dahyun:
goofs off with you and generally clowns herself along with you to keep the mood up, indulges all your laughing gas nonsense
gets fussy over you and insists youâre bedridden
is constantly googling answers to questions about how to help you and kinda freaks herself out sometimes because webmd
finds it pretty gross but also demands to check on your surgery site regularly to make sure itâs healing properly
chaeyoung:
just constantly giggling at you, cannot stop laughing at you, has to assure you that sheâs not laughing at you (but she definitely is)
has her mellowing effect on you, sheâs a good soother just to be around
will do whatever she does in the same room as you, crocheting or drawing or scrolling her phone and listening to music quietly while u doze next to her in bed
wakes you up regularly to keep you hydrated and medicated
tzuyu:
has her game plan immediately on picking you up from the surgery
is kinda taken aback by how silly you get but finds it really sweet and funny
tells you off sharply if youâre not doing the right thing to recover properly
feels bad for your misery and buys your favourite food, cuts it into really tiny pieces so you can enjoy it

What if I made a master post of what every single TD character orders at a coffee shop (except half of them arent coffee) Iâm in my iced coffee phase rn heres gen 2 and 3 because if you somehow couldnât tell theyre my favorites
Jo: Black coffee nothing in it and genuinely likes it that way
Brick: Tries to drink black coffee to be tough but enjoys a good vanilla cream coffee more
Anne Maria: Frappuccino or Caramel Macchiato she likes the most extra drinks
Mike: Probably likes generic iced coffee with cream and sugar or like. Matcha
Zoey: Changes her order all the time but always down for a good brown sugar boba or anything strawberry flavored
Cameron: Not much of a drinks guy in general, but if he had to get something I think heâd enjoy a cappuccino or something with lots of foam, heâd like the texture
Lightning: Also not really a drinks guy but I think heâd enjoy a smoothie with lots of protein powder just because health benefits
Sam: Honestly I think heâd be a black coffee guy, bold take but he seems like he wouldnât really care about the flavor and just drinks coffee or energy drinks for the caffeine
Dakota: Iced lattes or a white mocha usually, she gets really hyped for seasonal drinks though like peppermint mochas or pumpkin spice anything
Scott: Hates tea and anything fruity or cold. Used to drinking plain instant but likes it with a little sugar if he can get his hands on it.
B: Thorough plain tea enjoyer, maybe earl gray or oolong. He likes leafy flavors over fruity ones
Dawn: Also really into tea but she usually likes plant/nut milk in it, or a green smoothie
Staci: Also a boba liker but will go for any good milk teas. She also likes latte foam art but the actual drink is kinda meh to her
Shawn: Cant have coffee much because it makes his nerves absolutely shot but sometimes he has a black coffee when heâs at a low point
Jasmine: Probably likes iced coffee with a little cream and sugar but likes to try new things every once in a while; mostly a fan of savory drinks and not fruity ones tho
Sammy: Loves a good fruit tea but I imagine sheâd go for a smoothie too
Amy: Frappes, but the important part is that she berates the barista the entire time they make her drink
Sky: Chai drinker, also sometimes likes smoothies/juices
Dave: one of those dudes who gets annoyed at girls who drink pumpkin spice. Gets black coffee and hates it every time but drinks it anyways to look cool and mysterious (heâs tearing up the whole time)
Rodney: Will drink whatever you get him, he just likes being included. Has everyoneâs orders memorized. Has to rehearse before asking for his drink
Topher: Coffee snob, usually likes iced or frappuccinos but will go for almost anything with cream and sugar as long as itâs high enough quality. Keeps trying to figure out Chrisâ order; Chris will not tell him but does recommend him beans. These two get bitchy over the beans.
Ella: Pink drink or a vanilla Frappuccino with no coffee. She canât have caffeine but likes anything sweet and semi fancy
Leonard: Controversial, I think heâd enjoy specifically smoothies or juices with pineapple. Itâs got a magical tang. Or Mochas/hot chocolate which Tammy introduced to him.
Sugar: Any shitty instant coffee honestly, her taste buds are goobered. I do think sheâd be anti-tea though. Also probably banana smoothies I just think sheâd like them
Beardo: Also likes tea, except for matcha. Probably likes lavender tea or smth best because itâs soothing. I donât think heâd be opposed to coffee but I think it would be like too much.
Scarlett: I think sheâd secretly enjoy those refreshers like the fruit and juice ones, but usually gets tea to feel sophisticated. She likes hot drinks btw
Max: Once again attempts to drink black tea but just hates coffee. Secretly enjoys juice or chocolate milk out of a coffee cup. Everyone knows but doesnt tell him
#alexâs td rambles#these all suck bc I donât know anything abt coffee#I just get a vanilla cream cold brew or a mocha from my local Starbucks#actually thatâs not true I made a mocha at home today and that was banger#watch out Big Coffee Iâm cracking this case wide open

So I was wondering if I could get some period cramps comfort hcs with Legoshi and Louis please? (Also whatever animal u want is fine)
I had a couple of ideas for this but the indication of a period kinda means the reader would more than likely be coded as fem and I wanted everyone to feel included so I also did a version of them taking care of their significant other when theyâre sick in general (like a cold or something).
Warning: NSFW-ish Elements
//////
Louis:
Period Discomfort:
- Growing up with only Oguma and himself, heâs never experienced seeing someone go through a period ever so he has no clue how to deal with it.
- If you want any empathy from him youâre going to have to explain it to him and how painful it is for you. He might think youâre exaggerating at first but once he actually sees you in pain, heâll start to believe it.
- Thinks money solves everything and just buys whatever he thinks youâll need and has it delivered to you. Thoughtful yes, however you end up with a lot of menstrual products you dont use and chocolate you wonât eat because Louis just went ahead and bought everything he saw instead of actually asking you what you about brands, sizes, etc.
- Not the type to comfort you physically. He actually really hates the smell of blood and his super sensitive nose always can pick up on it. He wonât go out of his way to avoid you because itâs you and you could never repulse him but heâs not the âletâs cuddle up on the couch and watch sappy moviesâ type either.
- Overall avoids the situation. Not the best in this subject but is doing the best he can in his comfort zone.
Sick S/O:
- Not very good at reading preemptive symptoms. Wonât realize that youâre sick until youâre nearly hacking up a lung or fainting from fatigue.
- But once he does realize youâre not well, he insists that you get some rest and donât push yourself. Wonât take no for an answer.
- Again thinks the best way is to throw money at a situation so buys you the best medicine, heating pad, etc. Will also take you to the doctor and if youâre too weak or unwilling, will have his personal doctor make a house call.
- Stays with you while youâre sleeping. When you wake up and try to stop him, he insists your germs wonât affect him and he canât get sick (they totally do and he totally does).
- Overall more equipped in this subject but can be pretty strict/ annoying in your recovery (heâs lost a lot of people okay? He refuses to lose you too, especially to something like this if he can prevent it)
Legoshi:
Period Discomfort:
- His Canine senses always let him know when youâre on your period (plus he can like.... smell the blood but heâs too polite to point that out + blood is the farthest thing from unpleasant to Carnivores).
- By far the best in these type of situations. Does a ton of research and also outright asks you what he can do for you. Really attentive to you and your needs.
- Wanna listen to sad music under LED lights and just vibe out? Heâs right there with your fave playlist. Wanna cuddle up on the couch and watch sad movies? Heâs already got it started along with a pint of your favorite ice cream.
- Just overall Boyfriend of the year when it comes to this.
Sick S/O:
- Yep, heâs also an expert on his significant other being sick too (Go figure, right?)
- Makes homemade Soup/ Broth to soothe your throat. Runs you a warm bath to try and break the fever. Makes you take some medicines but also uses a lot of home remedies and practices heâs learned from Gosha growing up.
- Also claims he wonât get sick but unlike Louis, he actually doesnât because he has a pretty strong immune system as a Grey Wolf. Able to stay by your side the whole time and will unless you asks for some space, which heâll give but heâll worry about you the whole time heâs gone.
- Overall has a tendency to hover but means well and is very knowledgeable about your recovery. Will have you feeling better the fastest.
Juno:
Period Discomfort:
- Certified expert in this subject. Knows exactly what youâre going through and knows exactly how to deal with it. Will know what you want/ need before you even know yourself.
- Always has Pads and Tampons handy. Always knows the exact size and kind to get.
- Offers advice to ease the pain youâd never even thought of before such as stretching and doing Yoga (and of course you two do Yoga together/ she helps you stretch. The close contact can be pretty intimate which youâll love if you crave touch during your period.)
- However, if you and Junoâs periods ever sync up, sheâs not going to be the most pleasant to be around, itâs best the two of you just avoid each other.
Sick S/O:
- Loves to play nurse but not actually all that great in making you feel better. Definitely has a sexy nurseâs costume that she likes to put on while caring for you.
- A lot of head pats and hand holding with a few âWeâre gonna get through this,â sprinkled on there so yeah basically not helpful at all.
- Will go get you medicine or anything else you need but you have to tell her EXACTLY what to get, sheâs not great at following directions okay
- Like Legoshi, being a Grey Wolf means sheâs hardly ever sick... like EVER. She has hardly any experience in this field.
Riz:
Period Discomfort:
- By far the most touchy-feely when youâre on your period. He loves the smell of blood and he thinks you smell delicious. Usually a very chill, easygoing guy but becomes uncharacteristically clingy during this time.
- Never gets tampons or pads because heâs too busy eating you out or shoving his fat cock inside you.
- Thinks his dick is the cure to all of your needs and in this case heâs kinda right because period sex actually does help relieve like 80% of your symptoms.
- Fucks softer than he normally would but heâs nearly insatiable, especially when heâs high off your blood so youâre nearly on the verge of passing out from exhaustion.
- Once youâre too tired to continue, heâs still right there by your side, his arms permanently latched around you. He seriously canât get enough of you when youâre like this, your period hormones have him even more lovestruck than he already is.
- Will draw you a bath after sex, carry you to the tub, and personally wash every inch of you. Anything to touch you at this point. Doesnât join though because he doesnât wanna reveal how such a seemingly innocent act gets him so hard.
- Overall has a pretty unconventional approach to period care but it makes you feel better all the same and you know itâs coming from a true place of love (and a little lust).
Sick S/O:
- Much more tame when it comes to caring for a sick S/O because the hormones you secrete during your period arenât fogging his judgement.
- Still very touchy-feely but in a non-sexual way. Likes to lay you on top of him and hold you to help get rid of your chills. Also gives the BEST massages to relieve the ache in your joints.
- Believes honey is an end all be all cure to any illness and puts it in/on literally everything. Though it does help soothe your throat, you still end up sending him to the store to pick up some more potent remedies.
- Next to honey, he thinks sleep/rest is the answer to near everything (because heâs a bear and hibernating is their go to for any ailment) so he also adds sleep inducers to your tea, food, etc. to get you to sleep off the cold. You donât mind because it actually does help (also he always tells you ahead of time that itâs in there)
- Overall a good caretaker in this department even if some of his actions can seem a little antiquated or stereotypical for Bears.
Gouhin:
Period Discomfort:
- Heâs surprisingly a lot like Riz in this department (which actually isnât all that surprising since theyâre both bears). Heâs got a sensitive nose and your hormones really mess with his head and kick him into overdrive.
- This isnât his first rodeo with his partnersâ periods so he does have some experience in this field to help keep him under control.
- Will indulge in period sex but only if his partner asks for it/ brings it up first. He knows thatâs a slippery slope, especially with his kind and with his self-control so he doesnât seek it out first. (Canât deny that he loves when you do ask for it though)
- Knows all the tricks of the trade in helping you feel better non-sexually and indulges you when he has time but since heâs pretty busy with clients and stuff, he hardly ever has time for the aspects that require him physically being there (such as cuddling, massages, etc.)
- Pretty average in this department because heâs older so he doesnât have time to really baby you through this the way you might want him to.
Sick S/O:
- Deals with his S/O being sick very similar to how he deals with period discomfort.
- Heâs a medical professional so he tends to just get you some medicine that actually works instead of incorporating home remedies that end up taking longer, in his opinion.
- Can be a little irritating when he walks around in the morning time with his shirt off looking like the embodiment of health and toned abs, sipping on his bamboo smoothie while you feel like youâre on your deathbed.
- Tells you to get plenty rest, drink plenty fluids, take the medicine he leaves for you but heâs not there to really enforce it because he leaves in the morning for work and doesnât get back until super late at night. You usually fall asleep and forget to wake up to do anything he told you to. Heâs not upset and not really the punishment type in the first place so there are no real repercussions, he just reminds you again the next day to do it if you want to feel better faster.
- Overall, has a pretty neutral/indifferent approach to this because heâs seeing the situation through the lens of professionalism, so some aspects you really crave such as physical contact or general affection, he falls short in.
Bill:
Period Discomfort:
- Donât call him.
- Thinks periods are gross and does NOT want to be around you if youâre on yours.
- The only way heâd reach out to you during this time is if he was horny and wanted you to use your mouth to get him off.
- A terrible guy who you should block tbh :/
Sick S/O:
- Says things like âHang in there champ,â and thatâs pretty much it.
- If you sneeze around him or cough near him, heâll think itâs gross and proceed to avoid you.
- Why do you even bother with him again?

Hello! I see that people are asking you about diets right now. I started living independently fairy recently, and I still haven't figured out an ideal way of feeding myself. Not sure if my autism plays a role here, or if it's just me being inexperienced, but would you maybe happen to have any advice for NT people regarding food? Like how I can get myself to eat enough fruits + vegetables and how I can keep from eating the same two dishes for the rest of my life (I WILL, if I don't pay attention)
Hi, thanks for the message! Iâd say first of all take it easy, planning your meals + groceries is harder than people think, especially in the beginning. Just remember not to buy too much (produce will go bad, stuff like flour will develop flies) and take it easy. I can suggest a few things:
1) If you can, get good cooking appliances, especially a rice cooker or multicooker or Instant Pot, depending on where you live and whatâs available. A rice cooker is a good option because theyâre generally cheap, but most of them can only handle white rice, which isnât the most nutritious meal. I finally got myself a multicooker two years ago and Iâm really happy. You may have to experiment a bit in the beginning, but it halves the time you spend in the kitchen, can reheat food, and also makes things like bread and yogurt.
2) If you have a freezer, use the hell out of it. The best option for varying your meals is to always cook twice the portion and freeze half. If you donât have a big freezer, remember that most vegan meals will also keep fairly well in the fridge for a couple of days, so you could eat your delicious meal both on Thursday night and for lunch on Saturday, which is Not Bad. You can also look up ways to freeze vegetables and fruits - I started keeping batches readily available to add to soups, stir-frys, and fruit purees/smoothies.
3) Be realistic. Like, unless youâre a Michelin cook, youâll need some time to learn a new or complicated recipe, so start trying on a Saturday and give yourself a few tries. And if you get home really late, you probably wonât want to spend two hours in the kitchen, so either prep your meals beforehand (you can find tons of good advice online), or keep some ingredients for a quick meal (like a pesto sauce or ready-made dips).
4) Pantry, pantry, pantry. Most cookbooks will have a pantry list in the first pages, and those are the first things you need to buy. Remember that if you keep the same old recipe but swap out ingredients, youâll magically have different dishes and youâll get a lot of nutritional benefits because youâre eating different stuff! For instance, for a quick meal you can make hummus but use borlotti beans instead of chickpeas, or peanut butter instead of tahini. Why not? God is not watching.Â
5) Change up your greens. For your produce: if you live on your own, donât buy too much, and choose variety instead. For instance: weekly, only buy two kinds of fruits (one perishable youâll eat first, like stone fruits or berries, and one thatâll last longer, like bananas, apples or pears) and three kinds of vegetables (one cruciferous: cauliflower or broccoli, for instance; one root: turnips or carrots or sweet potatoes; and one leafy green: spinach, Swiss chards, kale and so on), plus mushrooms (a nutritional godsend and very yummy) + onions and garlic. Add whatever salad material is in season (summer or winter greens, zucchini, beets, avocado) and youâre basically all set. By thinking in terms of categories instead of specific foods, youâll ensure variety without too much effort.
6) Stick to easy cooking. As for meals: you donât actually need a lot of fancy recipes. Find two or three things you like to cook, and repeat them twice or three times a week. By alternating your lunches and dinners, and swapping out ingredients a bit (one evening rice, the other barley, for instance; one lunch roasted pumpkin, the next one roasted Brussel sprouts) you can cook on autopilot while still ensuring youâre getting your nutrients and donât get bored.
7) Cheat. If you struggle to eat your veggies, there are tricks you can use. For instance, smoothies and soups are good ways to eat tons of stuff fairly easily. If you eat cheese, it will make anything taste good - although garlic has the same effect and zero bad fats. Nutritional yeast is also something most people love. Adding finely chopped veggies to a normal tomato pasta sauce is another way of hiding a few greens without much effort. You can find a lot of recipes for âhiddenâ fruits and veggies by looking up parenting tips - and remember that the way you cook stuff also changes the flavour considerably, so if you donât like steamed zucchini, try roasting them, or adding them to a stir-fry, a soufflĂ©, a savoury bread and so on.
8) No rules apply. And finally, remember youâre an adult now, and if you decide that you want to try miso soup and fried rice for breakfast, or that Friday night is ice-cream-instead-of-dinner night, thatâs perfectly alright. You donât have to cook for yourself for every single meal, or stick to your own culture and family traditions for what is acceptable to do.
Also: a slightly unethical life tip. On b-ok, youâll find most cookbooks that exist - for free. If you need ideas, you can look up a book on Amazon, see if it looks good, then download it on b-ok. Iâd suggest trying three or four recipes and if you like them - and can afford it - buying the real book to support the author. I sometimes do this because you canât always tell at a glance if a cookbook is what youâre looking for or not, so this makes it easier to decide what to buy.
Good luck and happy cooking!
#ask#cooking#adulting#in my house we do an 'end-of-week' minestrone#just toss everything you have left in some water and let it boil 20-30'#with some pasta and lentils and stuff#takes care of the waste issue#and generally tastes really good#but yeah most people struggle with this#if you're worrying about it#you're already miles ahead of many people#so you'll get there!#i have no doubt

Blender Buying GuideTop Blenders Online â Blender Reviews
Health has become the watchword of contemporary society but glowing complexions donât usually come through diets of buttered haute cuisine. Most âwholesomeâ tastes can be rescued with the aid of a blender, a dash of carob and a tablespoon of nut butter. If Mary Poppins were alive today, sheâd have suggested a spoon full of cocoa and a high speed blender to make the medicine go down. Similarly, gastronomers and mixologists can achieve little without the ability to perform magic with snow ice and chilled gazpacho. Whether your primary source of nourishment comes from super foods, strawberry daiquiris or pommes puree, you will need to become acquainted with the technicalities of the best blender features for your needs.

-1) Name your position
If pureed spinach is your idea of a taste adventure, you donât need potent horsepower and muscular motors. Those focused on improving their cocktail intake demand high speed blenders with ice crushing action. Blenders that can puree, grind and crush food into velvety submission without generating too much heat are a behind-the-bar necessity: They make quick work of icy drinks without melting them into a diluted mess. Foodies require pulse settings which redistribute pesto ingredients beneath the blades for smoother results.
Most blenders come with bells and whistles that take focus away from features that are of genuine benefit: A vast array of speed settings is less important than wattage and torque. An all purpose product has an output horsepower of three or more. A wattage of 1500 will fulfill the cuisine fantasies of the most demanding chef, whilst your simple smoothie aficionado will be satisfied with a more affordable model with two speed settings.
-2) Creative cuisine or mashed potatoes?
Amateur cooks looking for a convenient way to stir, emulsify and froth often prefer wand blenders with low torque. Stick blenders take power from their users, so they neednât have the wattage to circulate ingredients through the blades. Motor power of 500 watts is sufficient . Thrifty cooks can save pennies by choosing 100 watt stick blenders. Cordless options are lighter, and protective blades keep our fingers relatively safe from harm.
Those who know the difference between crudités and mignardise need blenders that give them intuitive power over speed to produce diverse, exotic blends. Supreme versatility comes from speeds that are not automatically programmed. Instead, they can be adjusted creatively to achieve varying textures and tastes. Pedantic chefs need blenders that can perform multiple functions without stopping to change between manual and automatic action. Seamless setting changes prevent melting that can ruin the texture of ice cream.
-3) Dinner for two or twenty?
Even nonchalant cooks become pernickety when they need to blend their soup in three phases, which makes container capacity a core concern for most. A four cup container will only tolerate half its capacity to make room for spatter. Family blenders need between 40 and 60 ounces with tight seals and an escape hatch for steam. Plastic jars are less durable and hygienic than glass. New high tech BPA free containers are fabricated to prevent wear and shattering. Consumers with common sense expect their containers to have easy-pore spouts but this is not a feature to take for granted. The best blender review sites will point you to blenders that pore without dripping. A large container does not automatically translate as having a large capacity. Commercial users need two liter blenders that can be filled to the brim.
The best blender review sites present the intricacies of accessories, safety features and long term performance that will transform you into a kitchen legend in no time.

Who is it for?
This great blender is ideal for either the cooking novice or expert looking for an easy solution to arduous chopping tasks. Onions, peppers, carrots, avocado, nuts, and ice can all be easily chopped with this machine. Instructions are relatively simple and the system ensures that the blades wonât start moving until the motor is fitted properly into the blender. Those concerned with efficiency, durability, and safety will like how well this gets the job done.
Pros and Cons
The Blender is more accurately termed a chopper. It can create drinks like margaritas, and chop up ice for smoothies, but is not what many would think of when considering a traditional blender. The Ninja is a lot more effective at chopping ingredients than a normal blender is, due to the different blade system. When the directions are followed to pulse, the food is chopped to the desired consistency. If you want the chunks smaller, you pulse a bit more. Very simple to use and even more so to clean. You may need to cut larger foods into segments that can fit into the unit, which is the same as a regular blender, and you may want to occasionally move the contents around to ensure that you get uniform pieces.
Why you should buy it?
The easy chopping action of this system makes things so effortless. There is no need to waste food that turns into a puree when you want it chopped instead. The dual blades, one towards the top and the other towards the bottom, ensure that the chopping is evenly distributed. Easy to store, durable, safe, and a huge time saver. For the most part any food that you would normally chop by hand can be chopped by this product. Cut into sections that will fit into the canister and the rest is done in a matter of seconds.
Ninja Master Prep Professional Blender â Final Verdict
Overall, if you are looking for something to help you chop in the kitchen or you want to try creating your health smoothies or margaritas this is definitely worth a try. The blade system is so much more efficient than other traditional blending systems. The Ninja Master Prep Professional Blending system allows you to prepare ingredients for meals in a fraction of the time it may have before. One meal that involves chopping celery, peppers, onions, and carrots may normally take quite a long time, but with this system you can just set up multiple containers then pulse the contents with the motor for a few seconds till youâre happy with the results and move onto the next container. Minimal work for results that look like you spent a long time with the prep work. With the easy cleanup, this is a great kitchen solution.

Pros And Cons
As with everything else in life and by extension the kitchen, there will be pros and cons. The biggest pro of this blender is the fact that itâs so versatile. Cut onions without the mess and tears in a matter of seconds. Combine spinach, gouda and avocado with ease for the ultimate blend for your next grilled cheese sandwich. This blender is tough enough to shred ice for a snow cone for the kids, or chop nuts to combine with salads. The Ninja BL660 Professional Countertop Blender offers the functionality of many higher-priced models of blenders at a fraction of the cost.
Ninja has been putting out kitchen equipment for quite a few years now and designs their products with ease of use, safety, and effectiveness in mind. Anyone who is tired of spending hours chopping will be grateful for this piece of equipment.

âą PULSE options
âą Dishwasher safe components
âą Easily removable blades
âą Unique 6-blade technology

Who is it best for?
This great blender is perfect for anyone who wants to save time with different types of kitchen preparation, or wants to avoid spending hours in the kitchen. Onions, nuts, ice, and nearly any food can be chopped by the Ninja quickly and efficiently. The pulse option gives you the control to decide the amount of chopping necessary for whichever dish you are preparing. The Ninja NJ600 Pro Blender is easy to use, so beginners in the kitchen as well as those who have been cooking for years will be able to use this effortlessly.
Pros And Cons
The blender is able to chop a number of ingredients with ease and due to the large capacity can handle enough for the whole family or to store for use later. It does not whip ingredients, but does cut through ice and chunks for a smoothie to be sipped through a straw. If you want a thicker smoothie, just add more ice until it is the consistency you desire. Blades are extremely sharp in order to cut through tough ingredients such as ice or nuts, so there are safety features in place to try and protect the user.
This blender is consistent and durable. It handles ice which many blenders are not truly equipped to handle and therefore cannot make snow cones, margaritas or adequate smoothies, while the Ninja can. It has thoughtful safety features, which ensure that accidents wonât happen. The large capacity is perfect for making smoothies the whole family will enjoy, or for putting in the fridge for later. Great for party drinks as well. Also easy to make large batches of salsa or to create your own special salsa recipe.
Final Verdict
Overall the NJ600 Pro Blender is priced reasonably, but offers the performance of a product in a higher price range. This is primarily for chopping and blending, so you wonât end up paying for functions that you are never going to use. The manufacturer warranty is one year and the product will pay for itself very quickly in the amount of time it saves in the kitchen. Onions are an annoyance to chop at best, but by just halving the onions, or cutting into quarters and throwing them into the Ninja you can use the PULSE option to have them chopped in no time without all the tears and stinging eyes. Cleanup is a cinch which makes this a great choice for anyoneâs kitchen. The fact that it can be easily disassembled for storage and cleaning make this a solid investment that will see plenty of use in the kitchen and save valuable time.

Who Is It Best For?
This blender is for everyone. It can be used by children (with adult supervision of course) to make smoothies and other frozen treats and even help in the preparation of baked goods as well as it can be used by teenagers for quick go to snacks that are low on the calorie side of things and fill the ache of hunger. Adults can use this device to make scrumptious meals that take up a fraction of the time of similar products and the young at heart can make easy healthy meals as well.
Pros And Cons
Most things in life have their own set of pros and cons. This blender is no different. One of the best things about this blender is its versatility. It can be used in any number of ways, is small enough that it takes up very little space and it boasts a very powerful motor. The only con that I can see this device as having is the fact that the cups arenât very huge. If you are looking to make a large batch of a particular recipe then you are going to have to do it in stages, which take up more time than you may be willing to spare for the task at that time. Other than that I have a blast when I am using it and you will too.
Why should I buy it
You should buy this device if you are looking for a blender/mixer system that is easy to understand and use, is small enough to be easily portable and has one of the most powerful motors in a device of its kind. Personally, I bought this device because I hate headaches and love to have easy ways of getting a particular job done. This device has simplified my life. I can make marinades for a variety of meat selections at the drop of a hat. I can make the components for both hot and cold soups with ease. I can even make healthy and fast foods for my baby. There arenât many devices that allow you to do so many things but this device does and that alone deserves your attention.
Final Verdict
There is no reason why you shouldnât get this amazing blender. From the price (which is objectively set) to its size even to how much it weighs-it all comes together to ensure that you get a device that can do everything you need it to do and more. You just have to get one!

agajsksns not gonna lie being 10 feet tall sounds awesome. i have no idea how tall that is because the only thing i know about feet (that sounds so wrong) is that google is telling me that i'm 5'6 (sorry to disappoint). which is. average height right? well it doesn't feel like it coz my best friends are giants. they're both 180+ cm tall and they constantly make fun of me for being short. but honestly i win because i can always make them reach things for me.
thank you! that's very sweet, i actually only saw your reply like 20 minutes before the new year so it was right on time! i loved writing to you and waiting to hear back as well, you're a really fun person to talk to!
i know you probably won't see this for a couple of weeks before going on holiday, but have fun!
i laughed really hard at the picture my brain conjured up when reading about you dropping the vampire act and starting to pretend to be a mouse, just straight up scurrying up to the houses on all fours in a bathrobe is hilarious. i'd pay to see that. and yeah! me either. the number of times i've gone outside at night is probably like 3. that's counting that time when i went for ice cream at 11pm to the store on the other side of the street in my pajamas and then had to turn back because it apparently closes at 10 pm. that was a pretty big disappointment
a halloween themed birthday party sounds awesome! it's sort of disappointing though that you can barely remember it. the only themed birthday party i had (or at least the only one that i remember) was princess themed because i was on my princess faze back then (i was 5 or 6 i think). i still remember the sheer joy i felt at being able to wear a long fancy dress. it was brilliant
oh yeah! i'm still slightly scared of blenders because of that time. now anytime i even put my fingers close to the blade i unplug it first. also i saw you got a blender? i think we have one that's similar to the one you described. so i have a couple of suggestions! i like to make banana "ice cream". you just cut up a banana into pieces and freeze it, (i have no idea how long it takes to freeze i just generally always have frozen bananas in my freezer) then you take them out, let them sit for 10 minutes (to not break the blender when you use it) and blend them. i sometimes add frozen berries or peanut butter too! depending on what i want that day. it's great, especially because i'm slightly lactose intolerant too and i absolutely love ice cream. you can also make smoothies as you said. i usually put in mine whatever fruit we have, generally apples, bananas and oranges or grapefruits. or if i'm making one for breakfast (which i know you can't, but this is just a generally more filling option i think?) i also add spinach. you can't really feel the taste but it's supposed to be good for you and it fills you up more (it does make the smoothie super green though!). but yeah i pretty much just mix and match anything i have! also: milkshakes. ice cream, berries (optional) and milk! super easy and my little cousins love it when they visit!
ohhh your grater also seems to be out to get you. i bet it's really painful if it actually falls on your feet, because like metal. on foot. ouch. especially if it hits you with a corner! and i would definitely also get surprised every time it happened no matter how many times it did! bifocal glasses do not sound fun either tho. i would constantly forget how to use them and probably would just get headache really fast too! i get a headache from my normal glasses when i wear them (i usually wear contacts) so bifocal ones would be even worse i bet.
exactly. i had no idea what "hot" means. i thought you were supposed to use it when you thought a person was aesthetically pleasing? or like you thought they look cute? i dunno. i used it a couple of times before i realised that was not what that meant and then i was just like uhhhh yeah i'm gonna delete that word from my vocab. yeah! i think that ace and probably aro too are pretty hard to figure out because it's the lack of something.
ahahsksns i can imagine tiny Lindsey waking up on Christmas morning and running to the window expecting snow in the middle of summer and it's so funny! i can't say anything though because we have this saying in lithuanian which is used essentially when someone does something unexpected and unusual for them so you say "it's gonna snow tomorrow". as in "wow, [name] did [something super unexpected from them], it must be snowing tomorrow" (because like those are equally unexpected things i guess? but it's said in winter too so it's just something you say whenever, i'm sorry it's hard to explain!) but yeah a figure of speech. and anytime i heard that, even in the middle of summer, the next morning i'd run to my window and look for snow and when there was none, i'd just stare accusatorily at my parents. like wow, i can't believe you lied/let someone lie to me
horse races sound fun, i've never been to one though! and a picnic luch sounds awesome! i love picnics but we have them very rarely, i definitely think we should have them more often
and yeah, i get that acid reflux more of an annoyance than a problem but still! i completely agree with you about peanut butter though. it's amazing, i could eat it everyday
I know exactly how tall 10 feet is purely because Iâm 5 foot so two of me is 10 foot. I barely know feet but I got used to people being confused when I was like oh, Iâm 155cm! so I learnt what my height was in feet but I can really only visualise heights when I put them into centimetres. Someone can be like Iâm 6 foot! and thatâs great but I donât have the faintest idea how tall that actually is. 182cm on the other hand is easy. thatâs just like one ruler above my height. I can picture that. 5 foot 6 is probably average but as a short person, I consider you tall. That really isnât saying much at my height but still sdflshdfks. Biggest benefit of tall best friends is indeed making them reach high things though.Â
And now weâre almost three weeks into the new year. Time seems to be flying this year. This is a very late reply indeed sdfjhskdfs. I did see this before I left but didnât have time to reply, thank you though! I did have lots of fun. I had some birds try to invade the unit up in Orewa and I had a dotterel (I think) follow me along the beach at Ngarimu Bay playing some sort of red light green light game with me (it only moved closer and started following me again when I looked away) and I think a blackbird started some sort of mating performance at me which was flattering but uhhhh Iâm a bit of a big bird mate. Maybe choose someone else. there was also beaches and gorgeous views etc etc but birds, yâknow. birds.
i would 100% do that for money with no regrets. on one hand I could get a job and contribute to society. on the other hand I could do that as my main income. not a hard choice. hire me by the hour to freak your family and friends out. i have no respect for myself iâll do it to anyone for the right price. damn. only closed one hour earlier. thatâs a massive disappointment. i was out at night willingly for my high school prom and for a creative writing night at my uni and inside a car if that counts when I think my family was travelling back from the south island when I was younger. So three times that come to mind. Oh. And if stupid camp burma trails count then add a few times to that but those were not night outings I did willingly.
I can barely remember most of my life, I just assume it happened and I wasnât just planted here at 12 years old as an alien spy. Anythingâs possible though. I remember my birthday cakes more than my birthday parties to be honest with you. My mum always made the cake and when I was young sheâd make fun designs. A bee, a bat, a swimming pool and a cat come to me off the top of my head. They were mostly just sponge cats but she cut them and iced them expertly. A princess-themed party seems like a very fun type of party for kids who like that. Kids always seem very happy to dress up in pretty dresses and cool outfits to attend those kinds of parties. I can imagine the joy. I know my little cousin looooves that sort of thing, and her brother isnât willing to be left out either
thank god you unplug it first now sdfjhsdf thatâs incredibly reassuring. Ooo thank you for those suggestions!!! this is great!! I was wanting to try something with bananas and that sounds easy enough. I had an apple and feijoa smoothie while I was away on holiday and all I want is another one of those. So Iâm very very very interested in trying out fruit smoothies now because they seem like they can be very very tasty. Spinach seems like such an odd thing to add but Iâve heard that several times now so clearly itâs a thing. I donât think Iâve ever even had spinach. Iâll keep it in mind though. I suppose if I just try whatever fruit we have on hand eventually Iâll get something that tastes good. I have dairy free ice cream and dairy free milk so it seems like this could work out for me in a way where Iâm not regretting my entire life. Normally when I go near a milkshake I regret the day I was born.
It isnât a super heavy grater but I have intense survival instincts every now and then so it hasnât actually hit my foot yet. I go diving in the other direction. But I think if it did Iâd probably curse a few times before moving on with my life. I donât think itâd be THAT bad. But I live in fear regardless. oh no. do your normal glasses have a slightly wrong prescription or is this just a thing that happens when you normally wear contacts,,, Iâve never worn contacts because I fear touching my squishy eyeball and also I think my shitty eyesight is too awkward for contacts so I have no idea if thatâs a thing.
oh yes haha hot has been solidly deleted from my vocab for many years except in terms of temperature. It has a word that has never naturally come to mind and Iâm sure it never will. It just seems weird when I use it.Â
I was a fool of a child and absolutely nothing has changed there! I mean I know how hemispheres work now but Iâm still a dumbass at heart. Hahahahahaha oh nooooo. Thatâs incredible but oh noooo. I get what you mean by the saying though, thatâd make a lot of sense here honestly since it never snows ever. Locally, at least.Â
i think horse races are just a form of betting and losing money that is frowned upon less than actual buildings based on gambling and such. I mean I only ever attended those ones, idk if all horse races are like that, but I know there was buying tickets for whatever horse you thought would win, and if they did you got money, if they didnât you lost money. I donât think it was a whole lot of money ? just like a few bucks ? but maybe you could choose to bet more ? I really donât remember how it worked, I just remember accidentally finding a ticket on the ground and handing it in only to receive some money because the horse won. I think it was like 5 or 10 bucks which seemed like a LOT to my kid self. picnic lunches are fun though. my family keeps a tartan blanket in the back of the car that we use whenever we have picnics and also whenever we get takeaways (we put it in the middle of the lounge floor as the rest of my family eats fish and chips and I eat sushi, normally). But we donât have as many as we used to. They are fun though.
can confirm i do eat peanut butter everyday and it goes brilliantly.
#orewa is up near auckland kinda#i mean it's part of auckland but it's. auckland is just too big ok it's weird cities are weird#ngarimu bay is harder to pin down even google maps won't recognise it#it'll take you to thornton bay which is the next bay over#it's not far from thames kinda near the coromandel idk there's no big city to identify the location with#if you don't know what burma trails are they are just an excuse to torture children#ok not exactly but i hated them they scared the shit out of me#you walk through the bush at night blindfolded following a rope trying to get to the end#and you have to navigate around trees and over rocks and such#and teachers and parents scare you because they're bastards and possums MAY run over you#anyway they were awful imo#i've explained this before but idk if it was to you or someone else sdfjsdf my memory is shocking#also i cannot have grapefruit anymore and this is a terrible shame#thank u medications that hate grapefruit :)#i've been eating a marshmallow leg while typing this it's alarming how much i've gotten through#i like that they're called santa legs like children who wants to eat santa???#is it cannibalism is santa portrayed as human#technicalities are important here#uhhhh i mean have a good day!!!#Anonymous

Butterfly Fly Away
This short one shot might be a bit of a personal story for a lot of people. Trigger warning it does take place during a period for my OC. I tend to get massively overheated during them if I do anything strenuous or sometimes for no legitimate reason whatsoever they just happen because they feel like it with no rhyme or reason for it. The OC that I am using is in a Promare AU, my OC Keiko Katsuragi. In this AU she is a member of the Mad Burnish and Lio Fotiaâs younger twin sister!! I thought that this universe just meshed super well with her personality. She still has the same personality and dresses in the same way but I just REALLY wanted a non scared Keiko au and this is what I came up with.
I had woken up to spotting in my underwear. I sighed knowing that was why I was slightly warmer than normal today. I had struggled with heat tolerance ever since I started getting my period when I was fourteen. To me it just meant that it was a day of being useless and leaning on my brother for absolutely everything. He kept a log of all my periods to make sure that I wouldnât overwork myself and get sick. I knew that if he found out I would be stuck in bed all day. I promised Meis and Gueira that I would do the shopping for the time being with them. We did all need to eat despite the stress that it brought me. I pushed the sweat off of my forehead taking some deep breaths. It is just the store. Itâs not so bad really. You just need to get the necessities and then get out of there. Maybe theyâll even be a bit more than weâre used to and I can get a treat for myself. Some mint chocolate chip, rainbow sherbet or birthday cake ice cream. I tied my hair back into the usual twin space buns grabbing my leather jacket and putting it over my mint tee shirt. I grabbed my favorite shoes and put them on carefully already feeling way too warm.
âI can do this, I can do this, I can do this. I just have to get to the store. I just have to get to the store. Iâll feel better once Iâm back home. How much money do I have for something for myself?â I wondered aloud looking into my wallet seeing that Lio had put a hundred dollars in twenties with a note to the back of my wallet.Â
Kei,Â
Get yourself something, if you get a stuffed animal try to restrain yourself to just one. Whatever you donât spend, keep it yourself.Â
Lio. I shook my head with a small laugh at my brotherâs antics. Most of the stuffed animals that I bought were for the younger Burnish that we took care of. I hadnât bought one specifically for myself in too many years. I put my wallet into my backpack and put that over my shoulders. I clutched my stomach in sheer agony taking a deep breath.
âYouâre not pregnant time to run your stomach over with a 50 pound bus.â I snarked and sighed a little bit groaning. I had to do this for the sake of my best friendâs. They were counting on me. This was one of the few parts of the job that I looked forward to doing. I didnât like causing fires but I did it because I enjoyed feeding off of the enthusiasm of my two best friends.Â
âWhatâs that about 50 pound buses?â Meis asked me leaning in my bedroom entryway and I sighed collapsing against my bed.Â
âIf you tell Li I donât know what Iâll do to you but itâll be something. If I could think more clearly I could come up with a good threat but the only one that I have is that I wonât talk to you for a week.â He blinked a little bit in confusion before the resolution dawned on him and he closed my door.
âYou got⊠it didnât you?â I nodded my head and an embarrassed blush on my cheeks and I clutched my stomach in agony.
âYeah I did but if Lio finds out Iâm stuck here. I promised that I would do the shopping and itâs the one thing that Iâm good for around here.â My best friend put his arm around my shoulders drawing me into his side a little bit.Â
âYou donât need to do the shopping, when youâre sick then Gueira and I go and do it. Those are the bosses rules for a reason. He just wants to look out for you and make sure that youâre safe. When you have your hot flashes and you get sick it scares the absolute fuck out of him. Itâs not just a guideline itâs a general rule for your own health and safety. I mean I wonât tell him if you promise me something. Just get the things that are on the list and get out. You get a few things for yourself as well. Itâs been way too long since youâve treated yourself Keiko.â Meis lectured and I knew that my best friend was right, as he usually was.Â
âH-He gave me a hundred dollars and told me to buy some stuff for myself. I really want some ice cream. Maybe a new stuffed animal for myself this time around.â My best friend cackled with laughter a sound that never failed to bring warmth to me.
âWeâre sending you to the all mighty Costco so Iâm coming with you anyways. Donât need you getting lost on me.â I stuck my tongue out at him muttering that was a one time thing and he just lightly shoved me.
âAnd why did you get lost again? Oh thatâs right you were helping a cute kid get a stuffed animal out of the bin so you decided to crawl up the side of the bin to get it for you because youâre too short.â I sputtered in embarrassment at the fact that he was still teasing me about that even three years later.
âI-wah- you are cruel to me Meis, what the hell did I ever do to you?!â My best friend just laughed at me crossing his legs on my bright pink bed sheets.
âHmm give me a minute here let me think because thereâs a lot of trouble that youâve gotten me into over the yearsâŠâ I kicked his foot gently but my stomach cramped up in the middle of it and I froze, doubling over.
âAlright Iâll play nice, Iâm really sorry about this Keiko. Just breathe hun youâll be alright.â I huffed cursing my womanly fate.
âGah why meâŠâ My best friend hugged me and I sighed a little bit hugging the long haired goofball back.
âBecause you canât be a badass all the time, even the boss needs breaks too. I feel like if you werenât around then heâd never take any.â I chuckled a little bit looking over at the picture of the four of us on my nightstand. â
You might be right even when I am around heâs still the biggest workaholic I know.â Meis looked at me with a small smile on his normally more stoic face. âHey youâre good at a lot of things Keiko. Youâre awesome at listening to people, that's your best quality, you're always able to help people through that. A lot of us stopped giving a shit about most of humanity a long time ago but youâve still remained optimistic that the world will one day become a little bit kinder towards us.â Meis reasoned and I felt myself tearing up at my best friendâs kindness.
âDo you think Gueira might come too? I have a feeling that Iâm going to need more help⊠I might just sit in the cart and boss you two around. Sorry I feel like if I even try walking for an extended period of time today Iâm going to pass the hell out.â I asked him and he instantly took control of the situation texting his boyfriend.Â
âAnd donât worry getting your smoothie is on the list too even if you do get sick Iâll just freeze it in here and you can have it when youâre feeling better. Oo check this out Keiko.â He tapped my shoulder on the Costco website and I looked at him with my eyes huge. What he was looking at was a big Care Bear that was Share Bear my favorite.
âUm I think I might need that.â My best friend laughed at me already five steps ahead of the situation putting in his own credit card information and it said that it would be waiting for us when we got to the store.Â
âThank you Meis.â I thanked my best friend and he just shook his head at me staring up at my ceiling.
âAnother cool thing that you did was make those glow in the dark flames for the kids. It really helps keep the darkness away and I know that they appreciate that. You have the kindest heart of anybody that Iâve ever met aside from the boss.â I laughed a little bit agreeing with my best friend. The kindness gene had definitely been passed down through the Fiota family since we both had it and so did our mother.Â
âSometimes I wonder if that kindness is enough. Like if people think Iâm stupid for always going on about how one day things will be different. Itâs hard enough for me to keep smiling. I do it for Lio mostly because I know that my smile makes him smile. If thatâs what I need to do then so be it.â My best friend tangled his fingers with mine and a sad smile on his face. It was at times like this when I thought to myself just how needy I really was. I constantly relied on touch to make me feel better. A hug on a bad day, a cuddle on my period from one of the three most important people in my life. It must be so exhausting for them to have to take care of me.Â
âYou stop that thought right now. You are not exhausting to take care of. I love taking care of you, so does Gueira and most of all the boss. All of us love you so much Keiko. Youâre the heart and soul of the Mad Burnish. Without you well we wouldnât all be together. You introduced the three of us and together the four of us all equally are trying to make the world a better place. You arenât needy I mean look at Gueira, it's hard for me to get him away from me for five damn minutes.â I looked up at my bedroom entryway seeing the other general there with his arms crossed and pouting.
âI leave for two minutes to go and check inventory and this is where I find you?â He asked his boyfriend jokingly and I clutched my stomach rolling over to my side.
âKeiko!! Are you alright?â Meis mouthed to his boyfriend period and the other boy sat at the foot of my bed.
âDo you want me to get the boss?â I shook my head animatedly not wanting to put my brother out of his way.
âNot if you can help it. I donât want him to put me on the bench for stupid grocery shopping. Itâs the one thing that I can do around here that makes me feel truly useful. Plus itâs Costco and I am getting my very berry smoothie if it kills me.â Meis laughed at me squeezing my hand encouragingly.
âI already offered to get the boss and she denied me too babe. Looks like weâre both on shopping duty with her because sheâs staying in the cart. Weâre going to do everything that we can to keep her safe today and not overwhelm her too much.â I reached into my wallet and took out forty dollars.
âTake it Meis, just consider it payback for the Share Bear. I donât know how Iâm going to lug that thing around when we have to leave again⊠you really shouldnât have bought that for me.â I protested and my best friend just laughed at me nudging my shoulder.
âWe figure out that problem when we get to it. I mean I have that apartment and we could just keep it there if thatâs the case. Itâs a piece of shit apartment but it works.â He shrugged his shoulders and I saw Gueira snuggle into his boyfriendâs side.
âBesides this is the home base itâs the closest thing that weâve got to a perfect hiding spot. Weâll be fine here Keiko.â He reminded me as an afterthought and I smiled softly at my best friend kicking my feet back and forth.
âDo you still have enough to get yourself some ice cream tubs?â Gueira asked me and I nodded my head with a small smile.
âYeah I still have plenty and the items at Costco are cheap. Letâs go thing one and thing two and then I can come home and pass the ever loving hell out.â I tried to stand up but a wash of heat came over me.
âKeiko!!â Gueira rushed to my side and put his arm around my waist taking his boyfriendâs other hand.
âIâve got you, letâs just pray that the boss doesnât see us on our way out.â He joked and I laughed a little bit at him.Â
âHe said something about an early morning meeting today so we should be fine. We are taking the car?â Meis nodded, swinging the car keys around with his finger smiling softly at me. Taking the car was for the big shopping trips so they were only made once or twice a year.
âWeâre doing delivery today as well so the list is really long today. Costco trips are a big deal for us. Time to go and get some food to make the people happy!!â Meis cheered and I smiled softly at my best friend as we walked down the hallway and out to the car. I climbed into the familiar backseat of the car wishing that my brother could come with us.
âRemember your fucking seatbelts kids.â He lectured and I stuck my tongue out at him while Gueira muttered yes mom next to him. I watched the desert go by and I looked out the passenger side window. The atmosphere of the desert though big and vast brought me comfort. I had once wandered those deserts with my brother. But now we didnât have to roam aimlessly anymore. We had a family even though it was small and a little bit dysfunctional.Â
âYouâre really quiet back there Kei, are you feeling alright?â I nodded my head with a sad smile on my face.
âIâm fine Meis just memorizes thatâs all. I was remembering when Lio and I were on the run before I met you guys.â Gueira smiled softly at me looking at the wasteland in front of us and the shopping center that catered to our kind just ahead.
âThis was the desert right? That must have been really hard on both of you. I know that he did everything for you. He loves you Keiko.â Gueira mentioned and I laughed a little bit. It was hard but at the same time I loved those early days just my brother and me against the world. âI love him too, he's everything to me. Aside from you two lugheads anyways.â I joked and Meis halfheartedly glared at me through the mirror at the front of the car.
âLughead she calls me a lughead after I buy her this massive stuffed animal I canât believe this shit.â I laughed heartily at my best friend until my stomach let out a massive cramp and I whimpered in pain. Gueira went through his bag and found an apple, a bottle of water, some saltine crackers and three Motrin.
âI thought that your⊠you know what thing might be coming so I came prepared.â He told me and I smiled softly at my best friend taking the items from him. I untied the rubber band around the taking one of the slices.
âThanks Gueira, that means a lot to me. I guess everybody has to be carrying this shit around this time of the month though.â I sighed cursing my fate and chewing on the slice of my favorite fruit treat.
âNot really, I just wanted to. The boss keeps that shit to himself he only logs it so that he can make sure that you are off your feet for the majority of the first two days. Itâs not like he goes around the compound telling everybody to look after you. He likes to take that job for himself.â I sighed a little bit leaning against the back of the car seat.
âHeâs right Keiko. He doesnât even give that log to us. Itâs between him and you weâre just not as much dumbasses as you give us credit for. We try to be a bit more on the lookout and be more protective around this time every month. To us youâre like a sister so I guess we kinda took after the boss in that regard.â My best friend reminded me and I sighed a little bit at the exhaustion that I must be causing everybody.Â
âI love you both, so muchâŠâ I sighed out and Gueira just grinned at me with a bright smile on his face.
âLove you too Keiko!!â He cheered and I smiled softly at him. I got out my phone and my headphones since the only thing that would get my cramps to calm the ever loving hell down would be to tune them out with music. I knew that if my brother were here heâd be wanting to watch Hello Dolly with me. I closed my eyes taking the Motrin that I hoped would help me to feel better. Surprisingly even though my brother acted tough as nails he just adored this soundtrack. He would probably never admit it to anybody other than Meis, Gueira or myself but it still made me smile. He could be tough as nails but deep down he was a really big softie.
âListening to Hello Dolly?â Meis asked me and I nodded my head with a small smile drinking from the water bottle.
âIt helps I donât really know why partially because it reminds me so much of Lio.â I heard Gueiraâs cackle of laughter that came out of his entire being and it made my heart warm. The laughter of my friends would never fail to light me up inside. As a burnish the people that I had in my life as best friendâs meant more to me than just about anything else. Having Meis and Gueira in my life changed just about everything. Before them Lio and I were often alone but with my two best friendâs at my side suddenly the world was filled with laughter. I never wanted to lose the ability to make my friends laugh.
âI think itâs really nice for the boss actually. Without her I think heâd probably take a break and now once a month he has to in order to make sure that she doesnât overheat.â I sighed a little bit, already feeling like the baby. I was already a lover of all things cute and feminine so most of my interests were geared towards younger children. I didnât need to be treated like a child. I shouldnât need to be treated like a little girl.
âNobody thinks that you are a baby Keiko least of all the boss. You might love girly things but thatâs a big part of who you are. Maybe itâs over compensation for the lack of a childhood that you had on the run for a good majority of it. Your mom was notified as a Burnish when you were how old again?â Meis asked me and I took another wedge of apple sighing a little bit. I never liked talking about my mom. It was that I missed her more than anything in the world.
âWe were nine when the freeze force broke down our door. We used to light bonfires in the backyard and I guess one of the neighbors called on them for her. We were just kids and of course we protested but Lio always made sure that I had somebody to lean on. I think he had to grow up way faster than me due to that. I was always really clingy with him though so thatâs nothing all that new.â I told them sadly and Gueira looked at me with a sad expression on his face. His other hand that wasnât holding his boyfriendâs took mine.
âI know that the boss would do it all over again if it just meant another day with you Keiko. You two have always been closer than siblings but Iâve admired that. Have you two ever fought?â I shook my head with a small laugh. âAt least that I can remember the only time we ever fight is when we bicker. I mean I know sometimes he dislikes what I do, mostly the flirting I know he hates that. But only because he doesnât want me to get hurt. I can take care of myself⊠usually.â I waved my hand a little bit and Meis just laughed at me. âI swear he has a âsomebody is flirting with my sisterâ alarm in his brain and heâs just there before we even know whatâs going on. At least if we arenât right next to you which is rare.â I muttered I have three brothers great under my breath.
âAnd you love all of us sunshine so fucking deal with it.â I pffted my long haired best friend jokingly crossing my arms.Â
âCount your lucky stars that I do Meis.â I shot back at him gently kicking his foot with mine and I swallowed my Motrin praying to the gods that it would work.Â
âIâm surprised that even when you two were traveling alone together that you two never had one major blowout.â I shrugged my shoulders. I think it was because Lio and I were just different enough.
âI think itâs because we are a lot alike but we like different things and react differently in certain situations. He pretty much had to be mother, father and older brother all rolled into one person. I donât know who told him that even though heâs older than me by five minutes that means that he can be extremely protective over me.â I huffed and Meis pulled up in front of the supermarket that was basically five stores in one.
âAlright, do you need help getting out of the car your majesty?â He asked me with an over exaggerated bow. I rolled my eyes and tried to get out of the car by myself but got a sudden wash of heat and flailed a little bit.
âKeiko!!â Meis caught me and carefully put me down on the ground next to the car as Gueira rushed around.
âIâm halfway tempted to just leave you here and go get your stuffed animal and make you stay in the car. I donât need the boss bitching me out for you getting extremely sick later.â Meis lectured half heartedly and Gueira came around offering me a hesitant hand up. â
Sheâs just going to be sitting in the cart and Iâm driving it so sheâll be fine babe chill.â I took my best friendâs hand on wobbly legs but sighed a little bit.
âI can walk on my ownâŠâ I whined but Gueira was already pulling me forward and Meis had his arm around my shoulders for extra support.
âYeah yeah weâve heard that one before weâre allowed to treat you like the princess you deserve today Keiko. Just let your stubbornness go for a bit.â Meis warned me and I laughed a little bit as my cramping slightly eased up. Gueira went and got a huge cart and I carefully sat down in it as he started pushing the cart through the front doors. He showed them the free membership card that I had. I hummed quietly as we went down the aisles and Gueira stopped at the large tropical skittles box and he handed it to me.
âAlright thatâs one of your sweet treats you get four more.â Meis reminded me how many I had to get. They always forced me into picking out five sugary things for myself. Usually they were candies that I kept in my room for movie nights. We walked down the snacks aisle and I looked around the store seeing that they had the bag of animal cookies.
âFor Kathryn.â I told them and Gueria nodded his head ruffling my hair softly and I was in a bad mood so I let him. Usually I would at least try and bat their hands away but I didnât really feel in the zone today.
âThat one doesnât count as one of yours because you are getting it for somebody else.â The list keeper reminded me and we went through the non perishables where most of our food was that we had asked for. Meis went through the rest of the list before looking at me.
âWhat other treats do you want hun? Youâve got four left.â He told me and I glanced out of the cart pointing down the ice cream isle. âWhat flavor do you want to get Kei?â Gueira asked me and I looked at all the different Costco sizes before picking the birthday cake one.
âThree more.â Meis held up the three fingers and I hummed in thought before pointing down the pastry isle.
âIf you want to get something from here it has to be only for you not the rest of the team.â He told me and I sighed at Lioâs rule. He was the one who told them that I wasnât getting anything for myself and had insisted that I get at least five sweets every time we went to Costco and three when I went to the regular store.Â
âAre those cookies on their cupcakes?!â I looked at them in awe and Gueira picked them up winking at me. I could freeze them and make them last longer there. Plus their cupcakes were easily one of my favorite cheat treats.
âTwo more are mandatory and then you can get your smoothie and stuffed animal.â I grinned excitedly. I couldnât wait to get my new stuffed animal and I saw that they had the variety pack of fruit candy that Meis already knew I wanted and he put them in the cart putting up two fingers.
âThe gummy collisions and then we can go. I'm not feeling so greatâŠâ Meis sighed a little bit feeling my forehead.
âYou are getting super hot, baby letâs hurry this up.â He warned his boyfriend and Gueira nodded grabbing the last of my favorite candy and then hurrying to check out.
âWe bought a stuffed animal online, the Share Bear.â Meis explained showing the receipt and the worker came back and I instantly hugged my new best friend sighing softly.
âHun youâre really burning up letâs get that off of youâŠâ Gueira took my leather jacket and I melted into my new giant plushie.
âBabe I think sheâs having a hot flash. Weâll come back later and get the smoothie.â Meis shook his head looking at me with pain on his face.
âIâm sorry that you felt like you had to do this Keiko. It must have been so hard for you. You were in a lot of pain this morning. I should have demanded that you stayed at home. Iâm going to get your smoothie. Baby, do you think that you can get her into the car? Iâm calling the boss.â Before I could protest Gueira was already pushing the cart outside to our car. He carefully lifted me onto the seat and took off my shoes.
âMight want to lose the leggings and skirt too, just giving you a fair warning. I know that youâre having a hot flash now and youâve got to shed the clothes. Iâm sorry about this Keiko. I know that you hate this because itâs awkward but I donât want you throwing up in the car.â He reminded me and I sighed just doing what I was told. Meis came back with a wet washcloth and my smoothie that he put in the front.
âIâm not taking any chances with you back there. I donât want you getting sick. Boss was really worried about you. He'll probably wind up beating us back.â He put the washcloth on my head and kissed my forehead gently.
âIâm sorryâŠâ I apologized and Meis just smiled softly at me scooting me over a little bit so that I could lean against him.
âItâll be alright, thereâs nothing to be sorry for. Itâs not like you can control these damn things. I only wish that we could make them better. Drive like the wind baby. Letâs get her home.â He told his boyfriend and Gueira grinned peeling out of the parking lot and down the desert road. I grabbed my Share Bear and hugged her tightly while Meis took my hair out of its space buns brushing it away from my sweaty forehead taking my water and pouring a little bit onto the cloth and putting it back. I sighed at the cool texture and he ran his fingers gently through my hair. I settled my back against him and Meis just smiled down at me.
âFeeling any better?â I nodded my head tentatively before I felt the tell tale signs of vomiting coming. I saw the base in front of me and willed it to come later. I saw my brother standing looking worried out of his mind. Gueira stopped the car and instantly Lio was rushing toward the back seat on my side of the car.
âKeiko!!â He opened his arms and I felt tears come to them. He really had come for me even though I knew how busy he was today.
âDonât worry about that I pushed it all back until four days from now. Until then you are not leaving my sight. Thank you for calling me Meis.â My brother carefully unbuckled my seat belt and Meis took my new stuffed animal from me.
âWhen I told you to get a stuffed animal⊠that was not what I was expecting. I donât know why Iâm even surprised at you anymore. Itâs adorable. It suits you.â He joked picking me up with surprising effortlessness. For somebody so lithe and petite (the gene was cursed because I was tiny too) he had a hidden strength to him due to years of the two of us being on the run.
âIâm sorry LiâŠâ I apologized and my brother just kissed my damp forehead with a small smile on his face.Â
âDonât apologize for things that are not your fault. We have got to work on that. Itâll be like the eye contact problem that you used to have. With a little bit of training and hard work I know that you can do whatever you put your mind to. There is nothing that you need to apologize for. Itâs not like you can control when these things happen and when they donât. Did you get your five sweets?â He asked me and I nodded my head with a small laugh. He moved the hair out of my face and his brows furrowed together a little bit.
âAre you going to be sick?â I nodded my head with a nervous grimace and he instantly took off like a shot for my bathroom. He flung open the door and carefully put me down as I went over to the toilet. I hated this so much. Vomiting was the worst of this but my brother just rubbed my back carefully shushing my sobs of pain.Â
âShush itâs alright Kei. Iâm right here just get it out and youâll feel a lot better most likely. Iâm so sorry that you have to go through all of this torture every month.â He apologized and I wretched up the rest of what I had in my stomach. Lio just pulled me back from the vomit and flushed it down the drain.
âOh KeikoâŠâ He sighed a little bit and wrapped his arms around me. I gripped my brother tightly and he just ran soothing fingers through my sweat soaked hair.
âItâs going to be alright little sis Iâm right here. Iâll protect you and look after you. Just like I always have. Youâre always going to have me in your life. Iâm not going anywhere anytime soon. I know what thoughts plague you during this time but trust me when I say that you are not a burden. I love you so much.â He reminded me and I wondered if Meis had told him just how bad my self esteem was today.
âLetâs get you horizontal, Iâve got you.â He told me picking me up like I weighed nothing and carrying me over to my bed laying me on top of my sheets. âIâm going to go and get you a cup of cold water. Iâll be right back I promise.â He told me squeezing my hand softly. Meis came into my room and sighed a little bit sitting on the edge of my bed.Â
âHey hun, Iâm sorry about all that in the car. I know that you tried to hold the vomit back and Iâm proud of you for that. But you didnât have to. I wish you wouldâve told me that you were getting sick.â I sighed a little bit turning over onto my side with a sad expression on my face. My best friend tilted his head with a small smile on his face. He wasnât angry with me. He was still the same Meis that he always would be to me. Still goofy, overprotective, spicy mom friend that he always would be.
âI didnât want to be a burden on youâŠâ I trailed off and my best friend sighed a little bit but kept his smile.
âNot a burden if youâre not feeling well. How many times have you taken care of me when I get my stupid ass hurt? How many times have you given up one of your prized stuffed animals to the younger children? Far too many times if youâre asking me. We love you Keiko. More than anything. You are not a burden and are in fact one of the best people that Iâve ever met. From the first moment I met you I knew that you were something special. Something to be kept safe and for the last ten years thatâs what Iâve tried to do.â He pushed a sweaty lock of hair behind my ear and grabbed the book off of the shelf that was sitting there. My best friend sat on the other side of the bed and opened the book that had been with me since I was a baby. It was the one thing that Lio got for me before we had to run away from home.Â
âOnce when I was six I saw a magnificent picture in a book about the jungle, called True Stories. It showed a boa constrictor swallowing a wild boar. Here is a copy of that picture. In the book it said boa constrictors swallow their prey whole, without chewing. Afterward they are no longer able to move and they sleep for six months. In those days I thought a lot about jungle adventures, and eventually made my first drawing using a colored pencil. My drawing number one looked like thisâŠâ Listening to Meisâs soft voice read to me my favorite childhood story is what lulled me to sleep eventually. I did feel the bed dip a little bit and felt myself be covered with blankets. Arms wrapped protectively around me and I sighed a little bit melting against the person that was protecting me, I assumed that it was Lio. He was always protecting me no matter what. When I felt better I would have to do something for him in order to thank him. He wouldnât let me do much but at the very least he would let me cook something for him. I owed Meis a huge favor now too one of the million that I probably owed my goofball. I woke up to a fresh mind a few hours later seeing a cold glass of water that had sweated it out for a few hours.
âKei, how are you feeling? Any better after your nap?â I could hear the worriment in my brotherâs voice and I smiled weakly. âA bit better, Iâm sorry that you had to come away from your hard work today. Did Meis and Gueira deliver the rest of the food?â My brother sighed running a hand through his shoulder length mint green hair.Â
âWhat on earth am I going to do with you Kei? Even when youâre sick out of your damn mind you still canât help but worry about the sake of other people. Yes I had Meis and Gueira deliver the rest of the food. They wanted to stay with you but I knew that when you woke up you would be really upset that they stuck around. And donât you dare apologize for making me come home. I wanted to come home to you and I knew that you needed me. Whenever you need me Iâll always come for you. Itâs part of being a sibling. I should have kept a better eye on that log. I thought that you had another few days. Iâm marking it right now.â I saw the log in his lap and I couldnât help but smile at the colorful stickers that I had put on it.
âLi, do you think that Iâm a baby?â I asked him and he blinked a little bit in confusion before the idea dawned on him.Â
âBecause of this?â I nodded my head gesturing to all around me and including my new stuffed animal.
âWell mostly because of everything. I act like a little kid so much of the time. Sometimes I wonder if itâs annoying. If Iâm holding you back from being your own person. If youâll ever get in a relationship or if youâll just be stuck looking after the baby sister.â Lio looked at me, his magenta eyes shining with the emotion of the moment.
âLook at me Keiko.â He told me and I looked up at the brother that had to look after me for so much of his childhood.
âYou are not a baby. You like cute things but that does not make you a baby. It makes you unique and you wouldnât be my little sister by five minutes if you didnât have these qualities. You kept your imagination and your heart. It has helped you to become a much kinder individual and taught me that no matter what you can be anything that you want to be. Youâre still a badass general of the Mad Burnish but youâre also still so much your own person. Without these things in your life you would have no outlet. No way of being actually happy with the way that things were. Maybe it was part of your lost childhood having to give up everything in order to live a free life away from the prisons. Without your happiness I probably wouldnât have made it out alive the same person. You reminded me of what it is like to have a childlike sense of wonder about things. So no in my opinion you are not a baby. You are a child at heart and there is a big difference between that and being a baby. Youâve always loved the same things. Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake, Spongebob they were always part of your life Kei. Itâs just that you kept them there where most people eventually forget what their childhood was like. What is the main message of your favorite book again?â He lectured and I settled against my big pink pillow that my brother put behind my head.
âGrowing up isnât the problem, forgetting isâŠâ My brother settled back against my shoulder and he played with the ends of my hair.Â
âThatâs right sweetheart, you are always so open about loving your childhood favorite characters. I know how much Share Bear means to you. I was mostly joking when I told you that I said it was too big. You deserve a treat yourself every once in a while. Whatever makes you happy Kei.â He told me and I melted into the hug that he was giving to me. Lio made sure that I was sitting up straight before handing me my water.Â
âIs it still cold?â I nodded my head with a small smile. He gave me a tums as well that would help me to feel better in the stomach area.
âBesides itâs not your fault that I havenât had a boyfriend yet. What about you? Why havenât you had one yet? You clearly flirt with enough men.â I stuck my tongue out at my brother laughing a little bit.
âMostly because men are cute and handsome like I donât know. All of my thoughts when I see them are like I want to be cuddled in those arms. I donât really think thatâs normal. I should probably ask Meis he knows more about this stuff then I do.â My brother softly hummed a little bit, still trying to keep me calm.
âI have served your sweet treats and they shall suffice until the next shopping trip. Thank you for following those orders. I know that they might seem silly and ridiculous to you but I wanted shopping to be things for you as well when it could be.â I laughed a little bit at my brother wishing that I could have one of my cupcakes but not wanting to push my stomach more than it was worth.Â
âYou do look a ton better Kei but letâs still take it easy. Are you hungry?â I nodded my head tentatively and kissed my forehead softly going over to my ordering station.
âHow about buttered pasta with parmesan will that work with your stomach?â I nodded my head with a small smile looking down at my tank top and underwear that I was still wearing.
âAh no wonder Iâm freezing.â I joked and went underneath my bed to find my pajamas.
âWant me to leave for a little bit?â Lio asked me and I nodded my head but my brother just smiled at me.Â
âIâll be back in fifteen minutes. You should probably want to shower as well.â He teased gently and I rolled my eyes at him. He left me alone and I went to go and do what I needed to. Putting my warm comfort pajamas that had Never Stop Dreaming on the front of them just brought back so many childhood memories back. I brushed my cotton candy hair out with a small smile on my face.
âFeeling better?â I nodded my head flopping onto my bed next to my brother who just laughed a little bit at me.
âIâm glad, you really scared me earlier. I know that you donât mean for these things to happen to you but whenever they do and you wind up vomiting I always go into super overprotective mode. I wish that I had a reasoning for it other than must protect but I really don't.â I smiled brightly at my brother leaning against him a little bit.
âI didnât mean to scare you that bad Li. Iâm really sorry about all of this. Hard to prove to the world that itâs wrong when your sister gets sick once a month and you feel obligated to take care of her.â He ran some hands through my hair that I had just towel dried and brushed out the knots. I sighed at the affectionate touching from my older sibling.
âItâs not out of obligation Kei. I love you, youâre the other part of me, my twin sister and my best friend who I would do anything for. Besides, even people hellbent on changing the world need breaks every once in a while and once a month I get to take three days off to take care of you. I donât know about you but thatâs all the relationship fulfillment that I need.â He smiled softly at me kissing my forehead and there was a gentle knock at the door.
âIâm back boss, all the food has been delivered to its rightful place. Oh Keiko you are awake!!â Meis looked so relieved and I couldnât help but imagine him panicking somewhere deep down pulling his own hair out and Gueira trying to console him.Â
âHe was SO worried about you Keiko.â Gueira teased and I saw my best friend throw a halfhearted glare at his boyfriend.
âSo what if I was? I felt like it was my fault for not forcing her to stay in the car or better yet here at home.â I laughed at the two of them interacting off of each other shaking my head at them.
âGood job, both of you. I know that it couldnât have been an easy day for either of you.â I smiled sadly at Meis for having to spend most of the day worrying about me.
âIâm sorry about everything today Meis. I really just wanted to be useful.â I apologized and my best friend sat down at the foot of my bed.
âDonât you fucking dare apologize to me hun you did the best that you could. Kathryn was really happy to get her frosted animal cookies. I told her that you got them for her and she promised that she would save one of them for you for when youâre feeling better.â I smiled softly at the kindhearted girl knowing that I would go back to the big store once I did feel better and get her a stuffed animal.
âI love that idea but this is your money you are spending it on something for yourself.â Lio reminded me and I sighed a little bit mentally face palming at the memory.
âRight, right maybe next time when I have more of my own money Iâll buy her one.â Gueira laughed a little bit at me kissing my cheek as he flopped next to me.
âAre you feeling better?â He asked me and I nodded my head with a small smile as he looked at one of my gummy lifesavers.
âYes you can have a bag of them.â I told him and he cheered taking one of them and opening the bag to me.Â
âI think youâre mostly better, have some candy.â Lio waved his hand and I cheered with a bright smile taking one of them and sighing at the flavor.
âDid the reading help at all?â Meis asked me a little bit nervously and I nodded my head with a small smile hugging my friend.Â
âThank you Meis for everything today. I love you.â I told my friend and he just huffed a little laugh smiling at me. âLove you too Kei. Iâm just so relieved that youâre feeling better. You scared the fuck out of me earlier.â I rubbed the back of my neck a little bit and heard a small knock on the wall. I looked up seeing a massive tray of food.
âI ordered enough for everybody and proteins for the rest of us because I figured that you two would be coming back sooner rather than later. What do you want to watch Kei?â I hummed in thought getting my bowl of pasta grateful that my brother had ordered so much food because I was low key starving.
âPonyo?â I asked and my brother just chuckled a little bit grabbing the dvd that I had since I was a kid. Even when I couldnât watch it I still kept it with me. I settled next to Meis and he put his arm comfortingly around my shoulders while Gueira was on the other side. My brother hopped up onto my left side and pressed against it comfortingly. Watching movies with my found family and my biological family were some of my favorite moments. It was rare when all four of s were able to actually take downtime. I knew that there would be more days like this when I felt useless but also at the same time also knew that I could lean on my family no matter what and that they would always be there for me.Â

No Place Like Home
Iâve finally figured out the plot for the rest of this, so hopefully it wonât be as dead. Cheap ending, but I think yâall deserve the fluff. As usual, I appreciate everyoneâs patience, I am determined to finish this. This is Chapter 12. Chapter 11 is here.
The sound of thunder jerks (Y/N) out of her sleep the next morning. You lean up to peek out from your curtains to find some dark clouds circling overhead and fall back on your pillow with a sigh.Â
âHow was yesterday so nice, but today so shitty?â you groan to yourself.
Your body feels like Jell-o from the fun of yesterday at the beach, you love the warm feeling of being out in the sun all day. Especially the next day.Â
The house is oddly quiet, you glance at your clock to see itâs ten in the morning, a time when Arno and Ezio are stumbling from their rooms to get some breakfast. Evie is usually up early, dragging Jacob with her, to do whatever it is they do in the morning while Connor eats his breakfast and stays in his room to do whatever it is he does.Â
Did you make breakfast already? You text Connor, already knowing the answer.Â
Yes, want me to make you some? His reply comes through a minute later.Â
You smile at his kindness. Nah, I bet youâre busy. Iâve got a plan B. You send that to him and then open up a new text for Jacob. Iâm not feeling too well :( Do you mind bringing up some water and breakfast for me?
If anything, he and Evie are in the kitchen talking as they do in the morning, and since he hides food in the weirdest places (a fact you found out by accident) itâll be worth the flirting.Â
   âOh, (Y/N)!âÂ
Sure enough, after some rustling downstairs, you laugh to yourself at the sing song in his voice. His loud steps stop outside your door where he knocks generously and pops it open with ceremony. He crosses the room in a few steps, marveling at you as you sit up and stretch.Â
âI brought you a glass of water,â he sets it on the bedside table before showing you the plate of food he brought. âEvie made breakfast, so if itâs shite itâs her fault. Itâs a veggie omelette, toast, and some fruit. From me,â he winks and pulls out a bag of snacks from his coat, âSome chips and chocolate.â
âThank you,â you smile at him, accepting the plate and bag from his hands. âYouâre the best.â
âOf course I am,â he smirks, his chest puffing out a bit. âIf you need anything else, Iâm afraid youâll have to ask Connor. Evie and I have business elsewhere and the other two oafs are running errands.â
You pout. âI donât get to see my twins today?â
âChin up, love,â he rubs his finger under your chin. âYou still have five days of break left, youâll get your Frye time.â
The twins head out, leaving you to finish eating on your own until Connor comes lumbering down the stairs. You check your watch and frown. âHungover?â
He pauses in opening the fridge to regard you with a confused frown. When you gesture to the time, he snickers. âI am allowed to sleep in, (Y/N).â
âWell, yes, but still,â you muse watching as he prepares his own breakfast. âSo. Itâs you and I today.â
âSo it is,â he nods, whipping eggs together. âI have nothing planned for your break aside from yesterday.â
âI remember you said that,â you finish off your breakfast and set the dishes in the sink. âWanna go to the farmerâs market? Thereâs good food there.â
âYeah, I have an errand to run still, so Iâll text you when Iâm coming back,â he grins.
âWhat kind of errand?â you round the counter to watch him. You watch as his body tenses up and he averts his gaze.Â
âGotta drop off some woodwork for a friend,â he shrugs. âShouldnât take more than two hours.â
   âOh, okay.â
You leave him be then, heading up the steps to take a shower and possibly text Stella to see how her vacationâs going. You make a mental note about Connorâs reaction to think about as break goes on. Weird things have happened since you moved in and you would be a fool to ignore it or claim otherwise.Â
When Connor leaves, you get a head start on assignments given to you at the last minute and get your study guides together in prep for the quizzes when break is over. You find yourself wanting time to move faster so you can see Connor again and try to convince yourself itâs because heâs your best friend.Â
After all, you feel the same when the others in the house are going to spend time with you. So you ignore that bubbly feeling and focus on your work until you hear a horn beep outside.Â
âShit,â you realize you missed the notification on your phone from Connor and hurry to get dressed in something comfy to wear in the spring heat.Â
In minutes, youâre ready and bounding down the steps with your bag in tow and sandals fastened. Connorâs playing chill music as you get in, he greets you with a grin and a smoothie from the place you like in town. It warms your heart to see him pass it to you, a shy smile on his face when yours lights up like the sky midday when you see it.Â
âThank you,â you hum in appreciation, taking a sip. âMy favorite.â
âGood,â he smiles, backing out of the driveway. âWhatâs on our shopping list?â
âMmm. I just brought the bag in case we saw something we wanted,â you shrug, watching as houses go by. âHow was errands?â
âIt went well,â he replies easily. âThe afternoon market is different than the morning crew, right?â
You make an affirmative sound while sipping your smoothie.Â
Not as busy as the morning market, you and Connor find yourselves lost in the booths, trying on the handmade jewelry and clothing, taste testing some jams, jellies, and fruits in season. Itâs a grand time for the both of you. No pressure from outside forces or forced intimate encounters as you peruse the items on sale.Â
While youâre looking, though, you canât help but feel as though Connor is more of a bodyguard as time goes on. He glances this way and that, as if someone is going to pop out of nowhere and do something. Given your past encounters with Blighters, you half expect it to.Â
So when a hand grabs and pulls you away from the path, you are ready. Grabbing Connor and clinging to him for life until the voice coming from behind you lets out a familiar laugh.
âDamn, canât surprise this one, yeah?â Edward scoffs when Connor wraps an arm around your waist, his hand ready to break the other manâs arm. âNo worries, son. I was just having a laugh.â
Connor lets out a disgruntled sound. âYou couldnât think of anything less dramatic?â
âMmm, no,â Edward releases you and grins. You hate how handsome it looks. âHow are ya, lass?â
âIâm better knowing it was you grabbing me,â you straight your clothes, holding onto Connorâs arm for a moment longer before letting go and patting it. He takes a step away, his eyes no longer scanning the crowd. âDid you know he was following us?â
âI could tell someone was, but he was far away enough I couldnât see who,â Connor crosses his arms. âWhereâs Ade?â
âGetting some ice cream,â the blonde jerks a thumb back towards a booth selling homemade ice cream. âJoin us?â
Connor looks to you for an answer, when you nod, he smiles and gestures for you to go ahead and lead the way.Â
âUptight, isnât he?â Edward nudges you with his arm, offering it for you to take. âLike having a guard dog.â
âHeâs been like this all day,â you giggle, accepting his arm.Â
Edward laughs. âGets it from his parents. Both so serious, blink and youâll miss the jokes they have.â
âInteresting,â you sneak a look back to see Connor gazing in a different direction, but with the slightest smile on his face. âSo, youâve known him a long time?â
âYes, lass. Itâs why he calls me Grandpa,â Edward grins. âThough, I donât look like one much.â
Iâll say, you think to yourself. Edwardâs a handsome man, and you would be a fool to not admit the attraction you felt when his blue eyes roamed your face. But it was something you would never pursue...
You donât get long to dwell on it when Ade comes up, enjoying some ice cream and looking like a kid in a candy shop. Edward and Connor go off to get some bowls for you and themselves. Leaving you to listen to stories of the old days with Edward on the sea. They work as fishermen with their own crew and boat and the sights theyâve seen, well, you are glued to your seat.Â
âDonât bore her with that now,â Edward interrupts a little while later, two bowls in hand. He slides one to you as he takes a seat next to his old friend. âWe have to tell her baby stories of Ratonhnhaketon.â
âNo, you donât,â Connor replies as if turning away an extra topping.Â
âYes, please,â you laugh and watch as Connor grumbles and pouts next to you. âWas he a chubby baby?â
âLike a cannoli,â Edward laughs.Â
You nearly choke on your ice cream, coughing to get some air and laughing at the thought of a baby Connor being as chubby as a cannoli. The young man groans, dropping his head in his hands as Edward goes to describe Connorâs early life.Â
Itâs a fun time and it flies by just as quick. The park clears up of booths and people until itâs just them at their table, ice cream bowls set aside, and the two older men in the midst of a harrowing story from the sea. Youâre watching with all your attention, your eyes big and mouth agape just a bit. Connor eyes you, a smile growing on his face at how cute you are.
âBut we lived,â Edward shrugs as though they shouldnât have.Â
âIâm shocked,â you snort. âHow do you guys still have jobs?â
Edward gathers the garbage and winks at her. âGotta take risks nowadays.â Â Â Â âItâs because I get us out of trouble with people,â Adewale snickers. âThis man may get us into shit, but I get us out.â
âNow thatâs not true,â Edward argues with a grin.Â
âTrue enough,â Ade laughs. He claps his hands and stands. âBut, thatâs enough listening to old men. You two should get going, itâs getting late.â
âWe will,â Connor yawns, standing up to stretch. âThanks for the ice cream, Grandpa.â
âAnytime, lad,â Edward grins at them.Â
You and Connor take your leave, he opens the door for you and shuts it once youâre settled in. When you guys get home, Connor helps you put the groceries you bought away and sets up the TV for a movie night. You grab some snacks and cuddle into his side, grateful to have a relaxing day as opposed to the hectic one yesterday. Your head lolls onto his shoulder as the movie goes on, his scent and warmth lulling you into a sweet sleep.Â
Connor relishes the feel of you next to him, he even adjusts so you fall in the crook of his arm. Itâs no surprise you fell asleep, being at home relaxes you so much and he knows being close to him makes you feel safe. It makes his chest swell with pride to see you comfortable around him. But his mission today is a reminder he has been getting too close for comfort.Â
The thought sours his mood. He pauses the movie, a Disney movie, and picks you up in his arms with ease. His steps remain quiet as he brings you to your room and sets you down on your bed, just like he did the day before, and leans over to kiss your cheek again. It makes a smile form on his face and he feels like... hmm. He thinks about it at the top of the stairs. What do you make him feel like? A fool. A child.
As he cleans up the living room he smiles to himself knowing that itâs not that bad to be attached to you. For now.

Meal Ideas for College Students
Ok, so. As a college student, Iâm compiling my own list of easy meal ideas. I have a bad habit of skipping meals, like many students do. A list of ideas helps a lot when youâre busy, stressed, tired, and/or not feeling up for much.
This post will prioritize quick/easy meals, ideas for relieving meal monotony, food that gives energy that sticks with you throughout the day, and meals that are generally healthy and balanced.
Note: This list of ideas was made with myself in mind. Everyone has their own dietary needs and/or preferences to keep in mind! Still, you might find something useful here. :) Also, check out my other post of recipes for more specific ideas.
Lunch/Dinner Ideas
1.) Soup/Salad/Sandwich.
-Not many canned soups are worth eating in my opinion, but a few taste acceptable (split peaâs pretty good), and sometimes grocery stores have containers of fresh soup. Those are almost always better tasting then canned!
-Salads ideally are more then just plain romaine lettuce and croutons/salad dressing. They can have all kinds of crap thrown on: nuts, seeds, tortilla strips, dried fruit, fresh sliced fruit, cheese, chicken, even some pasta noodles.
-Itâs better to buy heads of greens and wash them yourself, as the already-washed bags of greens go bad quickly and have been prone to e. coli outbreaks. A little salad washing bowl speeds up cleaning greens. In either case, try to get a mix of darker, vitamin-rich greens.
-Sandwiches can use the healthier lunch meats but also leftover cooked chicken, or just a grilled cheese sandwich. (Use different kinds of sliced cheese.) Fancy mustard, pesto and horseradish can really punch up a sandwich; so can bread that actually tastes good.
2.) Pasta.
There are a lot of options of what to put on top of pasta; just adding some marinara sauce to spaghetti noodles is only the beginning.
-If you do use red sauce, I suggest adding mushrooms, sliced sausage or ground meat, or lots of cheese on top to bump up the protein.
-If you do something else, stir-frying some veggies (freshâ zuccini, mushroom, celery, carrot, snappeas, etc. frozenâ frozen stir-fry veggie mix) and adding a light sauce is good; even dumping vinegarette salad dressing on it can be tasty.
-Other options include frozen shrimp, meatballs, leftover chicken, tofu or a cheese casserole.
-Try other kinds of pasta noodles, because even that can relieve some food monotomy. You can even use cheap ramen noodles, because why not? Just skip the spice pack they come with and add other things instead.
-Raviolis or tortillinis are also great for a light dinner or lunch.
-Sides for pasta include bread/garlic bread, salad, and fruit.
3.) Tacos/Burritos/Tostadas.
Canned beans, cheese, a bit of shredded lettuce, some jarred salsa, a tortilla, presto. Also great for using leftover ground meat or baked chicken. If you are lucky enough to own an avacado, please use it for this.
4.) Nachos.
This is basically when you have canned beans but you ran out of tortillas. Dump everything on top of corn chips instead.
5.) Enchilada Casserole.
Ground meat (or shredded chicken), canned black beans/red kidney beans, shredded cheese, canned enchilada sauce, corn tortillas, and a casserole dish. Dense and lasts you for a long time. Freezes well, too.
6.) Baked chicken.
Thereâs about a million different ways to prepare chicken. Whatâs more, the leftovers are so useful for so many things.
7.) Homemade pizza.
-They sell those kits at the store with the shell and the pizza sauce all ready. Just add your desired toppings and cook. A million times better then frozen pizza and worth the five extra minutes of work. Youâll need to invest in a large cutting-board and a pizza cutter or a large knife, but thatâs it.
-If you want emergency personal pizzas, you can even use English Muffins for the task.
8.) Hamburger.
If you donât care for ground beef, ground turkey or chicken works just as well; you can cook them insanely fast and easily on a Foreman grill, but still cooks pretty fast in a regular pan too. Adding some fixings goes a long way: pickles, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pineapple rings, etc. Good sides: salad, fries/potato, peas or beans.
9.) Baked frozen fish/salmon.
Again, youâre unlikey to have the time to buy and prepare fresh fish, which needs to be cooked and eaten quickly, but you can buy a filet of frozen fish. Good sides: rice, easy risotto, boxed couscous, broccoli, bread, etc.
10.) Fajuitas.
Steak strips/chicken strips that are pan-fried, plus stir-fried mushrooms, asparagus, Â zuccini, etc. Lime juice and avacado add a lot of flavor. Â
11.) Chicken, mustard, mushroom, garlic, spinach and swiss hot sandwiches.
Bake âem after assembling them for melty goodness.
12.) Smoothies/shakes.
This is a great addition to breakfast or lunch if youâre not very hungry or running low on food supplies; only if you have a blender, of course. Ice cubes, plain yogurt, fruit (fresh or frozen), shredded coconut, honey, fruit juice or ice cream, and blend. Experiment to find what works best.
Breakfast Ideas
Bulk up on breakfast if your schedule demands it!
1.) Oatmeal loaded with nuts, dried fruit, powdered proteins, flaxseed, and a dash of maple syrup/honey
2.) A plain yogurt parfait loaded up in a similar manner, plus granola
3.) Bagels or toast with cream cheese, nut butters, jam/honey, or avacado
4.) Stir-fried potatoes, potato pancakes, hashbrowns
5.) Low-sugar muffins
6.) Breakfast burritos
7.) Omlettes
8.) See above for smoothies!
General Tips
1.) Always make large portions when you cook so there are leftovers. When you bake chicken for dinner, you can use the leftovers the next day or make a sandwich or a taco or whatever. If youâre going to invest your precious time and energy into cooking, get the most out of it. If you have TONS of leftovers, freeze them in portions that are easily taken out, bit by bit, to use later on.
2.) See if you can locate a microwave on campus. This expands your options for what to pack for food, in case sandwiches a million times a month gets tiring. Pack things into microwavable tupperware or bring little paper plates and plastic utensils. Plastic bento boxes are also handy ways to pack things other than sandwiches. You can even bring soup, pasta, or ramen with you in a thermos.
3.) Frozen vegetables help a lot. You may not have the time to buy, clean and cook fresh veg, but grabbing a bag of something frozen is easy to make sure you have balanced meals. Steam them in the microwave easily in a bowl with a plate on top; avoid the âsteamerâ plastic bags if you can, which tend to taste gross imo and may not be super healthy. (zapping plastic may create toxins.)
4.) See whatâs in season for fruit. That way you can buy cheaper organic fresh fruit such as grapes, melons, berries or even exotics like kiwi. If you get them in bulk and need to use fresh fruit up before it spoils, try smoothies or put them on cereal/oatmeal or even make a fruit salad.
5.) Consider investing in a crock pot or insta-pot cooker. This opens up options for a lot of low-effort recipes, where you can just toss crap in and come back later and itâs done.
6.) Invest in spices. Itâs worth the money and effort to get a variety. Get in the habit of tossing them into things. It can punch up just about anything and is way better then just salt. Even scrambled eggs can be punched up with some Sriracha sauce or some spices, or a little bit of shredded cheese.

Discord thread featuring: Quentin and Dorian
When: September 23rd
Mentions: Khai
Description:Quentin texts Dorian after their studio session and they get to know one another a little better. Quentin asks Dorian out on a date.
Trigger Warning: Hardcore flirting.
Quentin. We should hang out again soon. It was a  lot of fun
DORIAN Yeah, I agree. Iâd love to.
Quentin. Great! Because I would love to know more about you.
DORIAN Well, we could start now if you want.
Quentin. Absolutely!
DORIAN Ask me anything.
Quentin. Anything... letâs see. Do you like fizzle pop?
DORIAN Fizzle pop? Do you mean soda?
Quentin. Haha yeah. Sorry
DORIAN No worries lol. Just wanted to make sure we were talking about the same thing. Not really. Iâll only have soda every now and then. That leads me to my first question for you though. Where are you from?
Quentin. Fair enough. I probably drink it way more than I should. But, itâs really good with ice cream. Iâm from Chamonix, France.. But, I moved to California was I was like seven I wanna say. I grew up in San Francisco and you?
DORIAN Iâm more of a tea and juice drinker personally. Oh thatâs dope! Iâm from San Francisco too! I only moved to Kingsboro when I was 18.
Quentin. Oh shit! I canât believe Iâve never run into you before. I used to spend a lot of time out at MEZZANINEâs and Bimboâs. But back then I usually needed a fake to get in lmao. I love tea.. we should totally drink tea together sometime
DORIAN Well, Iâm gonna guess that Iâm older than you so lol. Yeah, we should.
Quentin. How old are you
DORIAN I just turned 29 in August.
Quentin. Ah, hot. Iâm only older men. Wow yeah. Hahah what I meant to say was. Iâm into them
DORIAN lmao thatâs okay. I got the idea. How old are you?
Quentin. Iâll be 25 in December
DORIAN oh yeah, so you were only like 14 when I left Cali lol.
Quentin. hahaha this just keeps getting better. I feel like I totally would have stalked you
DORIAN You were entering high school when I graduated lol.
Quentin. Yeah, I was actually home schooled though. It was easier on my âparentsâ that way. Â Did you have a band then?
DORIAN Oh, homeschool? Thatâs interesting. Nah, I didnât start my band until after I moved to NY. We started it when I was like 21.
Quentin. Yeah, not as much fun as it sounds though, I promise lol. Oh, sweet! Definitely probably wouldnât have stalked you then. But, would have loved to.
DORIAN Hahaha. Any more questions?
Quentin. yeah.. I have tons. Am I boring you yet?
DORIAN Not at all.
Quentin. Okay, Iâm just gonna shoot out a few here. Have you always been into guys? Are you into me? Do you like Chinese food? Would you like to go out with me?
DORIAN I realized I liked guys when I was 13. Yes, Iâm into you. I love Chinese food. Yes Iâll go out with you.
Quentin. I love how straight and to the point you are.
DORIAN I try to be. Because thatâs how I prefer people to be with me.
Quentin. Fair enough. took me way to long to type that haha
DORIAN Are your hands busy?
Quentin. At the moment... Â not really. But you just make me question all my logic.
DORIAN That sounds like a bad thing.
Quentin. Is it? I donât think so. I can be a bit of a brat sometimes and you just make me rethink my smart ass remarks lol
DORIAN Good. Iâm teaching you to be a good boy.
Quentin. Hey hey, donât go getting carried away now lol
DORIAN Itâs true.
Quentin. Listen. I do very bad things and I do them very well. I just so happen to like you.
DORIAN You sound like the guy from Taken. I have a very specific set of skills lmao.
Quentin. hahahahaha itâs true though.
DORIAN Mhm. Iâll believe it when I see it. You probably just want me to think youâre a bad boy.
Quentin. Do I not come off as a bad boy? Wait better question... are you into bad boys?
DORIAN You seem like you wanna impress me. Uhhh. Iâm not really a fan of people who do bad things, Iâll be honest. I like you though so maybe Iâll make an exception.
Quentin. Ah, calling me out. I would love to impress you. But, sadly Iâm not very impressive. I try to be a decent person but I do have a lot of flaws. I could be whatever you like whoever you like though. Iâm pretty flexible
DORIAN Youâve impressed me so far. I didnât say I wanted somebody perfect. I just want someone to respect me and be totally open and honest with me. Iâve been hurt a lot and I really donât need any added stress. I just want you to be yourself.
Quentin. Well, okay then. Retract my current statement and let me start again. Iâm just a very laid back guy who likes to have a good time and can get super soft when you stroke my dark side. is that honest enough?
DORIAN Okay.. and what are your intentions with me?
Quentin. My intentions. I feel like I should start singing you the lyrics to a Justin Bieber song, ha. I just like you, youâre very attractive, sweet, and Iâd love to get to know you more. Iâll be honest. I havenât really been interested in another guy in quite some time. But, you intrigue me.
DORIAN You know, Iâm not normally a Bieber fan, but I like that Intentions song lol. Thanks honey. Iâm down to get to know each other better. Oh yeah? I feel special.
Quentin. Everyone I know says that lol. Does anyone ever actually like Bieber? lol. There are definitely things Iâd like to do with you on a daily basis. But Iâm trying to let you feel me out. Because I can be a hard pill to swallow sometimes. You should definitely feel special though, because you are a rare gem.
DORIAN He has a handful of songs that I like but in general, I wouldnât call myself a fan. Plus he seems like kind of a dick. A hard pill to swallow? You seem perfectly easy to get along with to me. Donât make me blush.
Quentin. Same. Heâs definitely a dick though. I guess what I meant was, I have a lot of demons. I do a lot of things people donât necessarily agree with. But my top three traits are definitely flirty, chill, and spontaneous. youâre very cute when you blush though
DORIAN Like I said, as long as you treat me with respect and are honest with me, we wonât have any issues. I disagree that Iâm cute when I blush but thanks honey lol.
Quentin. You got it! Iâll have to agree to disagree with you there though. Because Iâm the one who gets to look at you, so Iâm pretty sure I know what Iâm talking about. Speaking of which. You should send me a photo... please.
DORIAN Youâre doing all this talking about me, but have you seen how handsome you are? Actually no, donât answer that. Iâm sure you know exactly how hot you are.
Quentin. Lmao youâre so cute. Iâm so not hot. But I appreciate the compliment. God! Look at YOU!! what the fuck are you drinking cause damn it looks almost as delicious as you.
DORIAN Uhhh. You definitely are very hot so hush that noise. Lol, it was a strawberry banana smoothie. Can I have a picture too?
Quentin. yessir. It was, haha. I feel very left out of the experience. Sure, handsome.
DORIAN Look at you, following orders like a good boy. (; We can go get smoothies together sometime if you want.
Quentin. hahaha mhm. You just make me fall in line so easily. Iâd like that for sure.
DORIAN What can I say? Itâs a gift.
Quentin.
this is just me sitting outside editing our cover song seems like you have a lot of those
DORIAN Holy shit, can you seriously look at that picture and say that youâre not hot? Who lied to you?
Quentin. uhm... a lot of people have lied to me. But, youâre reaction definitely makes me tingly.
DORIAN Well Iâm here to set the record straight. You are very very attractive, Q. Make no mistake about that.
Quentin. How are you even single? Youâre like the messiah of my heart. Not that Iâm Jewish by any means lol
DORIAN Lmao oh my gosh. Well because I recently got dumped for somebody else. Thatâs why. And before that, I was single by choice because I lost my wife in a car accident. So I took about two and a half years to grieve and get myself back together.
Quentin. Dumped for someone else? What an idiot. I definitely know all about loss though with my first real girlfriend. I donât wanna get too dark on you. But Iâve seen a lot of loss as well. But, you definitely shouldnât be anyoneâs second choice.
DORIAN I appreciate that. Itâs really nice to hear. Iâm sorry you had to deal with loss as well, honey. Itâs not easy. Iâm gonna take a shower, weâll continue this conversation when I get out, okay? Try not to miss me too much.
Quentin. itâs definitely not easy. But, it makes us who we are in some weird twisted sense. You enjoy that shower, Iâll be around whenever you wanna talk. I canât help it if I miss you though.
[ 30 minutes later ]
DORIAN Hi, Iâm back.
Quentin. Hi :) Did you enjoy your shower?
DORIAN I did, thank you. What were you up to while I was gone?
Quentin. Not a whole lot. Just finished editing our cover and posted it. Lots of great feedback already.
DORIAN I saw! Thatâs super dope. The track turned out great.
Quentin. Thank you. Itâs all because youâre an amazing drummer. I had no idea but you really blew me away
Quentin. Also, Iâd love to take you out soon. Like, really soon.
DORIAN Aww, thanks babe. But I only put down the drum line. You did literally everything else so donât give me too much credit. You would?
Quentin. You still made it even better than it would have been. yes, absolutely!
DORIAN Youâre too sweet. Youâre making me wanna kiss you. would we get Chinese?
Quentin. I would love to kiss you, darlin. We could get whatever you like.
DORIAN I didnât just melt a little when you called me darlin. Nope. That did not happen. It was a figment of your imagination.
Quentin. Donât go melting too much Lmao. Oh oh.. nvm. Ha
DORIAN BIG EYES EMOJI
Quentin. Fuck youâre cute!
DORIAN So are you. Now what did you say nvm about?
Quentin. I was just gonna say unless itâs in my mouth. But I was trying to behave myself.
DORIAN Oh wow. Naughty.
Quentin. It happens. Cant be an Angel all the time. So when can I touch you again? I mean, see you.
DORIAN Oh my gosh lol. Tomorrow. If youâd like.
Quentin. Iâd love.
DORIAN Cutie. Itâs a date then.
Quentin. Wow, Iâm so lucky. also a little nervous, ha.
DORIAN Aww, thatâs adorable. Nothing to be nervous about, hon. You didnât seem nervous the other day.
Quentin. Iâm always nervous. Iâm just really good at hiding it haha
DORIAN Yeah, amazingly good at it because I couldnât tell that you were nervous at all.
Quentin. Good, you werenât supposed to be able to tell heh
DORIAN Thatâs really cute though. But thereâs still nothing to be nervous about.
Quentin. of course there is. You could always crush me into a million pieces and then laugh as you watch me try to pick them up
DORIAN Absolutely not. Iâve had that done to me one too many times. I never wanna put anyone else through that.
Quentin. well Iâll beat up anyone who ever tries to hurt you again. I swear
DORIAN Ooh, a man who will fight for me. Hot.
Quentin. Of course I would. Youâre definitely worth it
DORIAN Blushing again.
Quentin. you sure I have to wait until tomorrow? I told you I could get impatient. I did tell you that right? Haha
DORIAN I donât think you mentioned it lol. Our date would have to wait till tomorrow since most restaurants arenât open and Iâm pretty sure you plan on taking me out to eat. But if you wanna see me tonight, you can.
Quentin. Oh, well nvm then haha. Thatâs fair. Iâd love to see you tonight but you can tell me no if you want. It wonât falter my interest
DORIAN youâre welcome to see me tonight. Iâd love to see you too.
Quentin. Should I come to you? Iâve been mindlessly starring at the LOTR and laying in bed so Iâm free.
DORIAN Yes please, come to me.
Quentin. yessir
DORIAN Good boy.

the best of me (chap.4)
âIf anything bad happens I flush the rings, I leave my bestman spot to Baz, and I fly back to Paris.â
OR. Eliott and Lucas have never worked up the courage to actually make a move, and thus spent years dancing around each other without ever acknowledging their feelings. However, an engagement party gone a little too wild, an hotel room and a very bad idea might be all it takes to make everything blow up. (read on ao3)
Actively avoiding Eliott wasnât something Lucas was very good at, specifically because he hadnât tried to do so in years. Even back in high school, his attempts invariably failed to the point where he had, at least on one occasion, literally slammed head first into him in the hallway.
Back then it wasnât exactly serious. The only noticeable moment where he had tried was during the week following the worst double-date he had had to this day. Lucille was still in the picture at the time and Lucas had somewhat let himself be talked into spending an evening with Eliott, Eliottâs girlfriend, and the girl he was dating at the moment â ChloĂ©. All things considered, he could have never predicted the outcome of that evening. He certainly hadnât expected Eliott, sweet Eliott, funny Eliott, charming Eliott, bouncy Eliott, to constantly snap at his girlfriend all through the night, until he could just not take it anymore and was forced to fake an emergency situation to get the hell out of there â something about his back-then-roommate Mika forgetting his keys. It wasnât like he held Eliott accountable for the shitty night per se, but it was just that he didnât get what his friend was still doing with her considering he had told him once that their relationship wasnât going anywhere anymore.
Other times had included avoiding Eliott as to not cross path with his philosophy-major-boyfriend, and occasionally Macha, but those times had never included avoiding Eliottâs texts. That was a brand new feature, apparently. Five of them had been piling up onto each other through the afternoon, but he still hadnât read any of them. âLaterâ in his books generally meant âas late as possibleâ, which is why he indulged into typical tourism activities by sneaking his way in the little group formed by Imane and Nola â what he hadnât planned, however, was that Manon would be here as well. He had been too caught up in losing his sanity to remember about the awkward run-in with Manon earlier that morning, and it was only when he realized she seemed too invested in their trip to the Sagrada Familia to care about his business that he started breathing a little bit better.
What he anticipated a little too late was that playing tourist in a big city like Barcelona all the while riding a hangover in the midst of summer was probably not be anyoneâs go-to adventure while on vacation, for plenty good reasons that involved his headache and his general state of tiredness. He allowed himself a time-out far from the crowd on the forecourt of the basilica while the girls eagerly took a spot at the back of the line of visitors.
He was tempted to join them after a while â God knew he could use a little bit of fresh air at the moment â but his laziness highjacked that particular thought and he dropped it, staying put in the semi-shadowy spot he had managed to find outside. He hadnât been to Church in years, and hadnât even entered one since his momâs funeral. Frankly? He had never been a true fan and years later he still very much wasnât. It was gloomy. Impressive, even, in the kind of way that made his insides twist painfully and the hair rise up at the back of his neck.
âWho peed in your cheerios?â
His eyes darted up to meet Imaneâs quirked brow, and he shrugged it off as he pocketed his phone. âCharming.â
âYou sure look like youâre having a blast.â
âI donât like churches.â
She snorted, then perched herself next to him. âBut youâre an architect. Donât tell me that visiting the-â she paused to read the brochure, ââone-of-a-kind templeâ and the âfruit of the work of genius architect Antoni GaudĂâ doesnât sound like the kind of nerdy things you like?â
Lucas gave her an unimpressed look. âDo colonoscopies excite you?â
Imane shot him a squinty look. âOh, okay, nice. Whatâs with the long face? Weâre in Barcelona till tomorrow morning, you could at least pretend youâre enjoying it and keep the long face for another day, what do you think?â
He rolled his eyes and wiped a drop of sweat running down his neck. âIâm having the worst hangover of my life, is all. And I got a stroke yesterday afternoon when we were chilling by the pool so I donât think youâd want to be in my shoes.â
âI never wanted to be in your shoes in the first place, but yeah, youâre right, I definitely donât.â
He huffed, then adjusted the glasses up his nose. âGot any vacation plans for the rest of the summer?â
âFamily trip to Morocco next month,â she said with a sigh. âSofianeâs mom and mine are calling every day to make sure weâre still in. Honestly Iâm about to lose my mind. Never thought that my family and Sofianeâs hitting it off would be such a pain in the ass,â she grumbled.
Well, that was at least one thing he wouldnât have to worry about, he refrained himself from adding. It was one those thoughts that dampened the atmosphere when in fact it was really no big deal. Sure, sometimes he felt bad about his family situation, about not being in speaking terms with his dad, about his mom being dead and all, but it wasnât like he could do something about it.
âThe perk of being single,â he shrugged instead.
âHow many are there?â
Lucas pondered the question. Well, objectively, it wasnât that bad. He didnât have to share his attention, he didnât have to try so hard to make someone elseâs schedule fit with his own, and he wasnât stuck with a bad lay for boyfriend â it did happen before.
âI do what I want. Counts as plenty,â he shrugged.
âNow you just sound like a three year old.â
âAnd you sound just like Yann,â he retorted. âCelibacy isnât a disease. Have you seen how Manon is thriving ever since sheâs single?â
âYeah but thatâs because sheâs got a thing for pedantic, controlling and slightly neurotic douchebags,â Imane waved. âYou just like to sabotage your relationships.â
He gaped at her, offended. âWhat do you mean, I sabotage my relationships? I got cheated on twice, thrice if you count sending nudes to your ex while in a relationship!â
She sighed and shifted a little bit more towards him. âAre we doing this again? Frankly, Lucas, you donât know what you want, and itâs starting to show. You got pissed at Kevin for dragging out making you meet his family and six months later you got pissed at Maxime because you felt like âmeeting the in-laws didnât just feel right at the momentââŠâ
âWe were barely a month into the relationship,â Lucas interrupted.
â⊠You vetoed every single apartments you visited with Benjamin until he dropped the idea of the two of you moving togetherâŠâ
âHe didnât make millions, how did he even plan on going through every rant?â
â⊠and then you got mad at Will because it didnât seem like he wanted to stick aroundâŠâ
âHe ended up cheating,â Lucas snapped. âYou canât put this on me.â
Imane took off her sunglasses long enough to spare him a scowl, then she sighed. âWhatever things they see in you is beyond my understanding.â
*
The rest of the afternoon rolled around quickly. Quietly, in a way. The girls excitedly commented their trip inside the Basilica while they were getting ice-creams and they celebrated with a round of selfies featuring Nolaâs fake engagement ring, that Alexia had made out of the neon-pink straw from her watermelon smoothie. Later they did some shopping in a gift shop before getting back to the hotel just as Lucasâ headache had gotten unbearable all over again â he was also positive he had gotten a sunburn on the back of his neck, which was the cherry on top, really. His only thought as they rode the elevator up to his and Nolaâs floor was to fall flat on his bed and take a well-deserved nap before dinner â so much that he almost missed the moment Nola called him in the deserted hallway, once the elevator had gone to the last floor with the rest of the girls.
He turned a curious face on her and she seemed embarrassed for a second, tucking a strand of her sandy-blond hair behind her ear a couple of times. âYouâre not- uh, youâre not mad about Yann proposing, are you?â, she said, sounding rather hesitant.
He frowned. âWhat?â
She took a step or two closer, a small crease between her brows indicating that she was sincerely worried. âI mean, youâd tell me, right?â
It was kind of a shitty position, if he was being honest at least to himself. What was he supposed to say? That he wasnât mad about them being engaged while still thinking it was a shitty idea? âWhat makes you think so?â, he asked, hoping that his attempt at deflecting had been somewhat smooth.
It seemed to be, considering that Nola didnât appear to notice. âI donât know, you look a bit⊠grumpy, ever since you got here. And at first you gave your ticket plane to Alexia last minute, so it kinda looked like you wouldnât come at all,â she confessed, then before he could say anything she rambled again: ââCourse, Iâm not judging, I know what itâs like, to be completely overworked, because, you know, hospital life and stuff but-â
Lucas winced to himself. âLook, Nola, it really has nothing to do with you. Or with the wedding, or with Yann. Okay?â he smiled, perhaps a bit tightly. âHeâs my best friend, of course I want him to be happy. Iâm just a bit off and all that summer heat makes me sick.â
Nola pursed her lips a little and nodded. âYeah. Okay, Iâm just- Iâm sorry.â She pulled a face. âI know Iâm overthinking and all. Itâs just that Iâm always so busy, and I donât have much time to hang out with all of you guys in the end. Meanwhile, Daphyâs always there and⊠well, even though I know Yannâs moved on from Emma, sheâs just there all the time, just like Manon. So in the end the only one who isnât there, well, itâs me⊠And youâre his favorite person on Earth probably.â She sighed and rubbed her arm nervously. âIt makes me feel self-conscious at times. Itâs stupid, Iâm sorry.â
âItâs fine, really. Iâm just- uh, Iâm just gonna lie down a bit before dinner.â
She smiled encouragingly. âYouâre right. You look a little pale. I see you later.â
He nodded and she walked past him with a small wave to get to her hotel room.
Once he found himself alone, Lucas searched his pockets to find the key to his own, which made it all the more difficult to ignore the fact that he hadnât even checked his phone for the last couple of hours, because it was still opened on the conversation with Eliott, and that as soon as heâd unlock it all the texts he had not read since his âIs it later already?â from this morning would be marked as such. And since avoidance really was his only coping mechanism at the moment, he was just stuck being a coward.
He really needed to lay down.
*
Lucas didnât know what was in the air tonight, or if there was anything at all going on in the first place, but right now he regretted leaving his hotel room.
Things were awkward. And not just regarding whatever situation he was in with Eliott. Thing was, he had expected that Eliott would say something about them not seeing each other all day. He had prepared himself for the puppy lookâą and for the eventuality of being called out grumpily. What did he get? Nothing. When he started mumbling an half-hearted apology about napping and not seeing his texts, Eliott had shrugged.
âItâs fine. No big deal,â he had said as they walked inside the restaurant. Ever since, Lucas had been on the freaking edge, waiting for the other shoe to drop. There was just something. The restaurant wasnât the cause of anything weird happening, it was actually a rather nice place; they had two tables set on the terrace at the back, and they could make up the faint some of some jazzy music being played in a bar, a little further down the street.
The problem actually seemed to be within the group, for some reason.
The conversation was never picking up more than a couple of minutes on either end of the table, everyone going back to a kinda awkward silence in-between where you could just hear the silverware clicking against the plates. He couldnât remember the last time something like that had happened â there sure had some hella awkward moments when Manon and Charles had gotten back together, but it had happened a lifetime ago. Usually at least Basile was up to entertain some kind of conversation, no matter how stupid it was, yet even him was oddly quiet. He was sitting close to the opposite end of the table from where Lucas was, but even from there he could see DaphnĂ© deliberately not talking to him, choosing to make conversation with Manon instead.
âWhatâs up with them?â Lucas enquired as he leaned towards Yann, who was sitting next to him.
He spared a glance and waved. âDonât mind them. Theyâve been in a crappy place for most of the afternoon. Apparently, DaphnĂ©âs real pissed about something.â He reached for his glass to take a sip of water. âFor all I know in an hour it might be just good as new. Not worth the trouble to ask.â
Lucas let out a small snort. That was definitely an explanation, he thought as he went back to travel the food from one side to the other of his plate. It was a shame the heat and the remains of his hangover had put a lock onto his stomach because generally he liked everything that tasted a bit spicy and had shrimps in it, but right now he could barely bring himself to take a bite every now and then. A few seats away, Alexia was chatting with Eliott whenever he wasnât entirely focused on whoever was texting him constantly since they had all sat down earlier. Lucas spared a casual glance in their direction when Eliott turned his phone for her to see some picture on display on an Instagram account.
Emma shamelessly peered above her shoulder. âNo way, you scored the waiter from yesterday?,â she asked, eyes widening.
âYeahâ, Eliott shrugged casually as Alexia gave him back his phone. âI went back there to grab a drink this afternoon and we talked. Heâs kinda cool.â
Arthur leaned forward, on the other end of the table, to get in Eliottâs visual field. âYou do know that the concept of one night stands is based on the fact that thereâs little to no conversations involved in the process, right?â Â
âYeah, what happened to you being too romantic to bone someone at the back of a restaurant?â Emma snickered.
âI never said itâd be a one night stand,â Eliott snorted, shaking his head. He picked up his phone just as it pinged with another notification.
âAnd what do you plan on doing then? Bringing him back with you to Paris?â
âSending love letters?â
Eliott fired another⊠whatever, text or comment or god knows what, then set his phone screen down on the table and picked up his fork. âShut up, weâre just talking.â
Lucas bit back any mean comment he could make at the moment and tried to focus on his plate. The conversation soon drifted back onto more pressing matters, starting with their return to Paris the following morning. His attention was slowly but steadily wandering away when, in the middle of a few chuckles around the table, he heard Eliottâs voice. âNah, I was just thinking about staying a couple more days.â
âReally?â, Alexia said, thoughtful.
âYeah,â Eliott nodded. âIâve got nothing urgent waiting in Paris, which is, like, number 1 perk of being between two jobs, I guess?â
âThatâs cool. I kinda wish I could stay too,â DaphnĂ© sighed, resting her chin in the palm of her hand. âMaybe we should organize a little-â
âDonât tell me youâre staying for him,â Lucas scoffed, cutting her off mid-sentence as he pointed at the phone from his fork. It seemed to surprise everyone, starting with Lucas himself.
âWhy not?â Eliott retorted, looking back at him. âHeâs hot and heâs nice.â
Probably if you liked dummies who spent half their time posting stupid pictures of their abs on Instagram. He didnât even need to see the picture from earlier to know he was just typically that guy. He had dated one of those, and all he could gather from that experience was that all the fucking clichĂ©s were true.
âHeâs hitting on you!â Lucas exclaimed. âOf course heâs nice! As soon as heâll have boned you heâs just gonna move onto the next one.â
Imane huffed. âWow, really classy Lucas, even coming from you.â
Suddenly everyone was staring at him around the table, but he couldnât be bothered to care. âOh come on,â he insisted, âitâs practically part of the job description, right Em?â
Emma shrugged. âHeâs not wrong. I mean, if he were into me, Iâd-â
âWhatever. I donât need you to tell me what to do, in case you havenât noticed,â Eliott bit back.
âOh for fuckâs sake, you just don't go around falling for people you met twice! How can you be so immature?â
âIsnât that a Disney song or something?â, someone mumbled, somewhere around the table.
âRight,â Eliott huffed dryly, âbecause you're such an example of maturity when it comes to dealing with your stupid emotions and your fucked-up relationships.â
âOh yeah? And what about it?â
âGuys-,â Yann tried from the other end of the table, but he was cut off almost instantly.
âYou know what,â Eliott snapped, âyou're right, next time I should just get down on my knees three minutes after meeting them the first time, thanks for the tip.â
âIt's got fucking nothing to do,â Lucas shouted. âThis was a hook-up. You're just physically unable to do that and everyone fucking knows it, and guess whoâs gonna have to deal with you being all depressed when you'll finally figure shit out, like all the other times?â
âOh for fuckâs sake,â DaphnĂ© intervened, âdonât act like you get to have an opinion just because you slept with him once!â
Lucasâ eyes snapped to her at the exact same time he felt the ground was opening under his feet to finally, finally swallow him up for good. There was a deafening silence as soon as the last word had fallen out of her mouth, and for a second nothing happened, as if everyone was frozen into place. He could feel Eliottâs eyes on him and it took him an extra-second to muster enough courage to meet them. Frankly? He wished he never did. There was a whole bunch of emotions packed in those stormy-grey eyes, but none of which Lucas had ever wanted to see directed at him â and worse, no trace of surprise whatsoever. Before anyone could say anything, Eliott grabbed his phone, and stood up in a loud scrap of his chair against the ground.
Alexia spun around on her chair. âEl-,â she tried, but Eliott blurted a âdonâtâ as he strode out of the terrace and disappeared inside the restaurant.
The silence around the table stretched out for a while, or at least Lucas thought so, until Yannâs voice made its way to his ears and finally redirected his focus back on something else that wasnât Eliottâs empty chair. It was only then that Lucas registered that everyone was talking all at once, yelling even, except for Yann who looked incredibly astonished. Right now he didnât even care.
He didnât care how DaphnĂ© had found out.
He didnât care that Eliott apparently knew already.
He didnât care about Yannâs hurt expression.
He just needed to stop thinking for a hot minute.
Lucas shook his head, and stood up after throwing his napkin on the table, then he stormed out of the terrace by the same door Eliott had disappeared through. Â

Chapter One: When momma said "Don't accept gifts from strangers," she might of been on to something
"You're breaking up with me?"
Roman could not believe this was happening. He loosened his grip on the hot chocolate he'd been drinking; the hot liquid had turned bitter on his tongue. He stared at his boyfriend, who wasn't making eye contact with him.
"That's, Â um, a way to put it. Definitely." Roman's boyfriend, Vance, still wasn't meeting his eyes.
"Definitely a way to put it or definitely breaking up with me?" Roman's voice still had the tiniest bit of hope in it. Maybe he'd heard Vance wrong. Maybe he was jumping to conclusions, a skill he was fantastic at.
"Both?" Vance finally raised his eyes and they met with Roman's. Vance's blue eyes were filled with apprehension, sadness, and something that looked suspiciously like pity.
Meanwhile, Roman was trying not to cry, his green eyes scrunched with his effort. "Oh."
"Ro?" Vance's voice was soft. "You okay?"
"Did I do something wrong?"
Vance shook his head violently. "Do something? Are you kidding? No, no way! You've been an awesome boyfriend-"
"But you're breaking up with me?" Roman blinked a few times, desperate not to cry.
Vance let out a sigh. "Yes."
"For Cassidy. On the track time." Roman's voice gained a bit of an edge as he spoke.
"Heh⊠I see word travels fast." Vance grumbled, looking away again. Roman covered his head in his hands. Little tears were starting to fall down his face and he'd be damned if he let Vance see them.
"You're dumping me for Cassidy on the track team?" Roman's voice was muffled, and Vance sighed.
"Oh no⊠RomanâŠI'm sorry⊠please don't cryâŠ. Ro come on, we're in public."
"Crying? Who's crying?" Roman lifted his head from his hands, eyes a bit red.
"RomanâŠ."
Roman let out a laugh that held no humor to it. "Why would I be crying, I'm an adult, thank you."
"Don't call yourself an adult when you have stickers all over your face."
It was true, Roman did have stickers on his face: two gold stars, one on his left cheek and the other near his right eyes. It was one of many ways Roman showcased himself to the world, and he was proud of it.
"I can have stickers all over my face and handle my boyfriend breaking up with me three weeks before prom because thatâs what adults do!" Roman's voice grew louder as he spoke, drawing attention from the people around them. Neither boy cared. Roman loved attention and Vance was used to it, due to Roman's dramatic flair.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Vance's voice had become soft again.
"Absolutely."
That had been twenty minutes ago.
Currently, the same boy who'd said he was 'absolutely' okay was sobbing on his bed with his best friends arms around him. Patton always smelled like cookies and vanilla and the smell was a comfort to Roman.
"Oh, Kiddo, breathe, just breathe it's going to be okay." Patton soothed, rubbing the taller boy's back as he continued to sob. He looked around at the other boy in the room. "Remy, we're going to need more tissues."
"How did I end upon tissue duty?" Said boy huffed, walking across the room with the tissues in his hands and his signature sunglasses pushed back.
"You were compelled by the ancient right of friendship!" Patton told him, before turning his attention back to Roman. "Here you go! Just take one-"
Roman proceeded to bury his face into the box.
"Or do that whatever works for you!" Patton looked back up. "Remy, we're going to need ice cream! Double-chocolate chunk, stat!"
"Now I'm on ice cream duty?" Remy sighed, crossing his arms.
"The power of friendship. It compels you!" That, or the fact Patton was starting to get into extreme dad mode, and that was a sight no one truly wanted to see.
"Gurl, I have track practice in fifteen minutes and if I don't get a coffee between now and then I am going to lose it."
"Vance..is on the track team! And so is Cassidy!" Roman instantly went back to sobbing at an even higher pitch than before. Patton winced.
"Oh my goodness, can we not bring up Track for now? Vance just dumped Ro-"
"-for Cassidy Stevenson?" Remy interrupted. " From the relay team? Yeah, I know. Cassidy hooked up with Vance at the post-meet and greet last week and then proceeded to spill everything to Alexandria Waters who is such a big mouth and told me- why are you looking at me like that?"
"You knew about this?" Patton growled.
"Um, yes darling I pride myself in knowing all this school's gossip-"
"You knew about this and didn't tell Roman?" Patton yelled, reaching over-protective dad mode, his eyes blazing as Remy took a step back.
"Hey, I didn't want to trigger that!" Remy waved his arms at Roman, who was still managing to cry even though he had been doing so for almost a half-hour now.
Patton sighed, backing down. "Fair. Ro, kiddo, how we doing?"
"They're probably warming up together wearing those stupid short- shorts! Vance looks good in stupid short-shorts! Why is running even a sport anyway? It's just walking a little faster!" After his stunning contribution, Roman went back to the tissue box.
"Okay, that's my limit, I'm going to get myself coffee and go to track." Remy flipped down his sunglasses. "But, Roman? Forget about him. You're perfect just the way you are."
Roman wasn't feeling that perfect- his eyes were red from crying and his throat burned. "Even with stickers on my face?"
âEspecially with the stickers. Okay, hon? Okay."
"Okay." Roman agreed softly.
"I'm going to go. AND IM GOING TO SMOKE DOWN THAT UNGRATEFUL STICKERLESS ASSHOLE FOR YOUR HONOR!" Remy cried out, exiting the dorm with a whoop!
"Yeah, Remy! Be our Prince's knight! Roast him! With butter! And organic peanut butter!" Patton cheered.
"Thanks, Remy," Roman whispered as he watched his friend leave.
"See, Ro? Everything will turn out a-o-kay!"
Then, the door swung open. "My apologies, I got here as soon as I could, by which I mean as soon as the scholastic decathlon mixer wrapped up-" Despite his breathing making it sound like he had run to the dorms, Logan still managed to look as professional and orderly as ever. Patton gave him a quick smile.
"Took ya long enough! Ah, don't look so guilty Lo, I'm joking."
"Is he okay?" Logan asked, scanning the room for their usually over-the-top friend. "Where is he?"
Patton simply pointed to Roman's bed, where the boy had wrapped his arms around his legs and curled into a ball. He had finished sobbing, but a few stray tears slipped down his cheeks. Logan walked over to him and bent down.
"Hey Roman," Logan whispered softly, knowing by now how to deal with Roman after the brunet had a meltdown. None of his usual big words- that would only make Roman feel stupid and in turn make him feel worse "I had planned to save these for your birthday, but I got you some stickersâŠ"
Roman looked up, his green eyes brightening the slightest of bits. "Stickers?"
"Yes, Ro. They have little crowns on them."
"Crown stickers?" Roman mumbled, his voice rough from his sobbing.
"And they're glittery too."
"Glittery crown stickers?"
"Mmhmm. All yours." Logan gently put the stickers down on the boy's knee. Roman instantly snatched them and turned around.
"Hey now, staying in your dorm and putting stickers on your face isn't the best thing for your mental health-"
"Huh?" Roman turned back around, one of the glittery stickers placed above Roman's nose.
"Oh Newton, ah, let's go for a walk. Fresh air and sunlight are proven to help increase mood." Logan helped Roman up and flashed Patton a nervous smile. "I'll take care of him, don't worry Pat."
Patton flashed him another smile, and Logan saw how Patton was exhausted. Dealing with Roman's meltdowns happened to have that effect on people. Logan knew in a single glance that Patton needed a break from his roommate.
Soon enough, Logan managed to drag Roman outside. "See, Roman? Don't you feel a little better with the sunshine?"
In response, Roman let out what sounded like a hiss."The vitamin D is infecting me."
Logan gave the other boy a small grin, happy that Roman had a least remembered one thing from science. "Then it's doing its job."
"Why am I outside?" Roman whined. "I could be covering my notebooks with pretty crown stickers and crying until the sunsets."
"Hey, hey, no thinking like that. It will only decrease your already unhappy mood. How about we head down to the café, get some smoothies? The fruit in them will make you feel better."
Roman crossed his arms. "Vance dumped me at the café."
Logan paled but immediately responded. "Okay, so I'm going to get us smoothies from somewhere that is most definitely not the café, okay? You stay here and take a moment to relax, okay?
Roman nodded, "Thanks, Lo. You're the best."
Logan nodded and turned away, hoping he had succeeded in hiding his growing blush from the other male. "It's okay, Ro. It's not a problem- it never is, not for you, you being a very good platonic friend." Smooth. Â Logan quickly walked away before he could embarrass himself.
"I appreciate it," Roman called out after him, a small smile forming on his lips.
"He likes you." Roman jumped and spun on his heels. A boy was standing on the fountain behind him, his heterochromic eyes meeting Roman's
"Holy goth boy batman- where did you come from?"
"The fiery pits of hell." The way the boy said it, so deadpan, Roman wasn't exactly sure if he was kidding.
"Really?"
"No, I just got out of band practice." The boy said, rolling his eyes. Roman huffed.
"Oh, cool." Roman knew his boy, he just couldn't be a finger on the name⊠aha! "You're Damien, right? I think we have home ec together?"
"Yup, you're the boy with the stickers."
Roman nodded. "My reputation proceeds me. I'm Roman."
"Roman⊠I've heard a lot about Roman recently." Damien looked him in the eyes again. "You just got dumped."
Roman winced. "If I did, it was for reasons completely unrelated to stickers."
Damien laughed. "I'm sure. How are you holding up? A broken heart is no small matter."
If he was honest, Roman was surprised that Damien, a boy he'd had about three conversations with, was concerned for his well being. "Me? I'm totally fine! Some people just can't handle me!"
Damien looked unimpressed. "Your eyes are red and your voice keeps cracking."
"Hmpft."
The other boy sighed from his position on the fountain. "You don't think Vance was in love with you?"
Roman huffed. "I never know! People are so annoying! They all lack the ability to communicate properly and show affection- Â I wouldn't know if someone liked me if they came up right behind me!"
"Roman!" Roman turned on his heels and saw Logan peeking out a doorway. "I'm aware that your favorite smoothie is-" Logan proceeded to spell out Roman's overly complicated order. "-but is there anything else you need? They have red velvet cupcakes? With rainbow sprinkles? I know that's your favorite."
"Oh, that sounds amazing! Here, I think I have a few dollars-" Roman started to rummage around in his pockets.
"Not necessary, Ro. It's on me."
"Oh, really? Are you sure?"
"Affirmative." Logan ducked back into the café, and Roman turned back to Damien, who had jumped off the fountain and came closer to the brown haired boy.
"Can't show affection?" Damien grumbled.
"Mmhmm! As I was saying, Humans? Brick walls. Every. Single. One. Of. Them. They wouldn't know how to show lo-"
Damien stared at Roman like he was having a hard time processing what Roman was saying. "Riiiight. I think I might have something for you that will help your currentâŠpredicament."
"Huh?"
Damien pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket, pulled something off it and stuck it to Roman's cheek. It was another sticker, this one a rather large red heart.
"Damien? Â Did you just give me a stic-"
The other boy gave him a smile. "Abracadabra."
Then, Roman proceeded to faint.

Welcome New User
Welcome to HEART POINT
.....
Roman's thoughts were murky as he started to wake up. Â What had happened? He had been talking too that senior- Damien!- and Logan had gone out to get smoothies and cupcakes- so why did it feel like Roman was laying against his bed?
Patton's voice woke him up faster. His best friend sounded really worried? Had Remy gotten hurt at Track? Had he found out that Logan still was staying up late studying? Roman opened his eyes and stared up at the ceiling. So he was in his dorm.
"Should we take him to the nurse?' Patton fretted, and from what Roman could hear, was pacing.
"For what, a broken heart?" That was Remy.
Roman sat up and groaned, directing both boysâ attention to him. "Kiddo! You're okay!" Patton ran over to his bed and helped Roman up. "You gave us quite the scare, fainting like that! Logan had to carry you all the way to our dorm."
"Yeah, babe, he was really freaked. Totes unusual for him." Remy took a sip of his drink.
Roman squinted at his friends. There was something off here⊠oh, wait⊠that was newâŠ
"Why are there stars above your heads? And that's a heart?" There were indeed stars and hearts above his friends' heads: four gold stars floating over Patton's, and three gold stars and one red heart over Remy's. Roman blinked a few times, but the images were still there. In the corners of his vision, he noticed something else. In the bottom left corner, there was a red and gold circle with the words: Roman, Level One cutting through it. In the top right, was a similar circle with the words: Dorms and Evening cutting through it.
What was happening?
Remy looked up but apparently could not see that floating images above his head. Patton looked two, and at the same time both boys muttered, "Oh, Roman.."
"And what's with this border thing? I'm on level one? What?" Roman shook his head a few times, trying to shake it off. "It's all around my vision- I can't get rid of it!"
"Ro, calm down! You probably hit your head when you fainted, It's okay." Patton, on his tippy-toes, placed his hands on his friend's shoulders. "Breathe, okay?"
Roman nodded and took a few, long breaths. The stars, heart and the weird border were still there.
"Roman, hun, we good now?" Remy asked. Roman simply nodded, even though he was most definitely not good.
There was a knocking on the door, and Patton removed his hands and went to answer it. "That's probably Lo! He went to get you some ibuprofen!"
Sure enough, it was Logan, carrying a little bottle in his hand. "Roman, I see you've woken up. You had me nervous for a bit there."
"Nervous isn't the word I'd use," Remy mumbled into his drink.
Roman sucked in a breath. "Logan?"
"Yes, that is my name." Logan turned to Patton. "Is he okay?"
Patton sighed. "It's been a long day, we're going to cut Ro some slac-"
"That's a lot of hearts." Roman blurted, because, in fact, floating over Logan's head were three gold stars and four red hearts.
"Hearts? Roman, do you require-" Logan continued to talk, but Roman subconsciously blocked him out. He raised his head to his cheek, and it rested on the sticker Damien had given him: the red heart.

You mentioned having tips for when its too much effort to go get food ? I'm struggling a lot with that right now and I'd appreciate any advice on the topic. Have a great day!
Hi! Yes, I do in fact have tips!Â
If youâre in a place where money is less of an issue, things get a lot easier. Allow yourself to spend a bit more on pre-prepared things. Yes, itâs cheaper to buy a melon and slice it than it is to buy pre-sliced melon, but if youâre going to eat the latter whereas youâd just throw out the former, then buying pre-sliced is an infinitely better idea.Â
If you have a freezer, utilise it well. Stock up on frozen pizzas, ready meals, frozen meat/ potatoes/ veggies and whatever else you may want.
Batch-cooking when you have more energy is a really good idea too. There are loads of recipes online that freeze very well, so you can make six portions of curry on a good day and then keep them around for days when things are harder.Â
If food is a lot of effort and good days are not predictable, avoid buying fresh things that go off. Itâs just going to make you feel shitty when you have to throw it out. Get canned, frozen or dried instead.Â
Remember that any food is better than no food. Try and find some easy, fairly-healthy snacks or quick meals that you can default to. Crackers and hummus or peanut butter, yoghurt with granola thrown on top, cereal, toast (bread freezes very well), bagels, instant ramen, microwave rice, pasta with jarred sauce and tinned soup are all options.
On the other hand, you can also try looking up recipes you want to make and set aside some time to cook them. I genuinely like cooking, and for me cooking a new exciting recipe with numerous steps can be a form of self-care. I play a podcast or my favourite music and focus on the steps, and at the end I get a tasty meal!
If youâre likely to forget meal times, set alarms. Setting alarms for meals is well known in the ED community as it makes meals less of an abstract thing that might occur at some point and more of a reality where you know when you need to act.
Planning in advance can help a lot. I meal plan for the week ahead using pepperplate.com and I find it really simple and useful. Often the difficulty occurs in choosing what to eat, so if I already know that Iâve removed one barrier between myself and food. If thatâs too hard, try making a list of easy meals you know you like, and keep the ingredients for them in the house. That way you can look at the list when you need an idea- you can even use a random number generator to pick one (Iâve done that) if choosing is just too much.
Invite people over for meals, or try and cook with others. Iâm much more likely to make a good, satisfying meal if I know Iâm serving it to my boyfriend as well.Â
Avoid binge/restrict cycles. Eating 4000 calories one day and barely any for the next three days is not good for your body- or for your mind, to be honest. Try and eat as consistently as you can.
Try and list foods that make you happy. Not even just foods you like, but foods that make you happy. Try and incorporate these into your day. Iâm more likely to get excited for a meal if it has roast vegetables than boiled, and whilst I donât care about new potatoes I get excited about sweet potatoes.
You can incorporate reward systems if those work for you- sticker charts or sites like Habitica. The app âRecovery Roadâ also allows you to track meals and to add a person or clinician to view your intake and keep you accountable.
If eating feels genuinely impossible, liquid calories can help keep you going. Milkshakes, smoothies, yoghurt, soup, ice cream, milky coffees, hot chocolates, juice... I find that when my blood sugar dips I feel shaky and sick and eating feels hard, even though I know I need to. Drinking some juice helps me get to a place where I feel better and more able to eat actual food.
----
Basically, the first step is to eat Some food. Any food.
The second step is to make sure you are eating enough food.
The third step is to make sure that food constitutes the ârightâ things.
Itâs okay if youâre stuck on step one or two. Step three can feel overwhelming and exhausting, but you donât have to jump straight from âIâve been living on cereal and sweets for a weekâ to âI had a caesar salad for lunch and Iâm preparing lentil ragu for dinnerâ. Make your goals small and reachable. Aim for X meals. Aim for X portions of fruit/veg. And please, although I know itâs hard and Iâm a massive hypocrite, make sure youâre drinking enough water. Dehydration will make everything so much worse.
I hope this helped! Feel free to ask if you want any more advice, empathy or low-effort recipes- I got âem all!

No ac is a big dealbreaker I already deal with enough heat at school and if I had to work at a place with none as well I think Iâd cry đ smoothies are so good, what do you normally drink? Scooping out ice cream really requires some muscle, it takes me forever to do it myself LOL. Iâll do the same if you hurt yourself as well esp since youâre my soulmate now đ€
Iâve had maple syrup directly from a tree or something like that in my cooking class and store bought (maybe fake?) one too and I still canât tell the difference. Or maybe itâs bc I absolutely drown my pancakes in syrup to the point where everything just tasted the same
Ohh my school offers Spanish courses as well and last year my class would take place right after a Spanish one, so sometimes thereâd be handouts lying around or something pulled up on the projector. Iâd try to read it and understand it since some words are kinda like french and English mixed together? and yeah it didnât work out. Spanish is so hard đ©
Why does this give me Jisung vibes when he said the capital of Colombia was Colombia city,, that cracked me up for a good ten seconds. Now I wanna try peets but Iâm guessing itâs only available in the us? Iâve never heard of it here. Sksks arella pls your queen & idol ily2 đ€§đ€§đ€§đ€§ is anything ur my source of inspiration đđđ„Ž

i forgot maple trees were a thing omg i was all like. itâs only called maple syrup bc it sounds cool LOL iâm so uncultured đȘ i drown my pancakes in syrup too, people who eat pancakes my itself are weird soz. tbh iâm more of a waffle person LOL
here (in all of cali i think) itâs required to take at least like 2 years of a language, we have ASL, french and spanish at my school but another school teaches german and japanese,, kinda jelly ngl but itâs whatever. spanish is tough iâm just bad at language in general, sometimes i cant even english
honestly such a mood, jisung is such a smart idiot i love him đ peetâs is so good omg and it was originally based in california, but there are a few location all around america, and i think thereâs some in china? iâm not sure bc when i go to southern cali i canât even find a peetâs and it makes me đĄđĄ

How to Stock a Kitchen: Perishables
Perishables are the trickiest thing to handle when youâre busy and on a budget. You want to use them before they expire. Throwing away moldy bread and rotten chicken is gross, wasteful, and expensive. Hereâs some tips and tricks to avoid the money pit that is expired food.
Write dates on opened sauces. Labeling your food isnât just for restaurants. Making spaghetti with store-bought sauce? Date it, that shitâs only good after opened for about a week. Find a way to use that sauce up before it goes bad. Longer use condiments, like relish and teriyaki sauce, should have the year on it too. (I had to buy new Sriracha because I didnât follow my own advice and my bottle expired in 2018. New bottle is sooo much tastier)
Tweak the fridge thermostat to find the ideal temperature. Cool enough to keep produce lasting longer, but warm enough that your shit doesnât freeze. Aim for about 34 in the coldest spot. Freezer should be kept about 0. It will have warm and cool spots too. Buy a thermometer and find these spots early so you can use them to your advantage to preserve things longer.
Produce that isnât stored in the fridge (bananas, potatoes, etc) should be stored somewhere cool, dry, and out of sunlight. Generally speaking, this means in the pantry. In most apartments, the lowest shelf is the coolest. Putting them out in a fruit bowl on the counter is tempting, but with those big glass doors in the dining room youâll be tossing out rotten fruit constantly.
You donât need to eat meat every day. Often, it is the most expensive ingredient in a meal. You can make it less expensive by buying large quantities when on sale and freezing it. Just make sure you leave enough space in your freezer for air to flow, so that it can cool things properly. And of course, remember to date everything. I do this for seasonal fruit too. I bought a whole flat of strawberries when they were in season for dirt cheap, chopped em up, and froze them. I still have strawberries in my freezer for smoothies and stuff.
Freezing is a great way to save food you forgot about too. Are your bananas black but you donât want to bake banana bread right now? Freeze that shit and save it for later. Bought chicken but itâs gonna expire tomorrow and you donât wanna make it? Freeze that shit before it expires!
Plan your meals around your perishables and when they expire. Those bananas looking rough? Add them to your oatmeal for breakfast, bake them into banana bread, throw them in a smoothie, freeze em for later. Chicken expires in 2 days and pork expires in 4? Cook the chicken first.
Perishables I usually have in my fridge and pantry:
meat for a few meals
eggs, tofu, other proteins (hummus is really cheap to make yourself)
onion, garlic, ginger
misc potatoes
bananas
oranges/cuties/clemetines (whichever style is in season)
seasonal fruit (berries, apples, mango, whateverâs cheap at the time)
spinach or some other leafy
carrots or some other crunchy
lime/yellow lime
mushrooms (very short shelf life. buy a few at a time for a specific meal instead of pre-packaged. they will go bad in like 2 days)
bread/tortillas/bagels/misc carb goodness (bread can go in the fridge or be frozen, just make sure to wrap it properly to avoid condensation)
cookie dough (make a big batch, and then cook a few cookies at a time)
dairy and dairy substitutes (milk, cheese, yogurt, half and half, almond milk)
And my freezer is full of whatever I couldnât eat before it went bad. Or whatever was on sale. Right now there are strawberries, chicken breasts, fish my neighbor caught, taquitos, frozen veggies, and ice cream. The supply is low.
