I’m actually feeling happy that something good happened! Love my emotions aligning with my situation it can be rare. Glory to God. Y’all. God wants you to prosper this isn’t that go get the life you want it’s easy - sure it’s easy with God walking in His prosperous plan 4 u but be aligned with God. It’s good when good things align
But you have to promise me 1 thing: that you’ll believe
Matthew 9:29 Then Jesus put his hands over their eyes and said, “You will have what your faith expects!” Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you” Then He touched their eyes, saying, “It shall be done to you according to your faith.”

American Sweethearts
Tumblr media
Idk what it is... but literally almost every cancer I've seen is always attractive and considered beautiful. Whether it be woman or man, or cancer sun, moon, or ascendant. They always tend to be physically attractive to most people. I read on one of @zeldasnotes post that whatever country has your asc sign as their Venus sign, you tend to be conventionally aligned with their beauty standards. I believe this to be especially true in America! Since Americas venus sign is cancer! So many cancer Ascendants , but cancer placements in general and even moon/ceres dominant people are generally considered timelessly beautiful 😍
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Saweetie: Cancer Sun
Angelina Jolie: Cancer Asc
Pop Smoke: Cancer Sun
Kehlani: Cancer Asc
Keke Palmer: Cancer Asc
Mariah The Scientist: Cancer Asc
50 Cent: Cancer Sun
Sofia Vegara: Cancer Sun & Moon
Ariana Grande: Cancer Sun
Keith Powers: Moon 1h
Rihanna: Moon 1h/ conjunct Asc
Whitney Houston: Moon 1h
There's so many others I didn't include, Venus energy seems to play a significant role in creating beauty standards. It appears that these individuals have a more noticeable impact on their looks within this particular country. Many of them are often encouraged to pursue a career in modeling without needing to work hard – just be pretty, which is exemplified by Saweetie's career. People often say she should model instead of pursuing music. A lunar-influenced ascendant tends to show "pretty privilege," and this applies to having Ceres in the 1st house or conjunct the ascendant, as well as having the Moon as a dominant planet. Marilyn Monroe had Ceres in the 1st house, Kim Kardashian is also Moon dominant, and so is Nicki Minaj. Even if these individuals are not conventionally physically attractive, they are usually socially accepted. Additionally, both men and women are often sexualized.
Tumblr media
I've also noticed that natives with lunar-influenced midheavens tend to be very successful in America, especially in business, because in America's chart, there is a sun, Jupiter, and Venus conjunction in the 7th house. This shows business, but with the sun, those with these placements tend to shine and become noticed for their talents, beautiful work, and abundance of wealth....*cough cough* Bill Gates, Tyler Perry, etc... These people know how to touch the hearts of people, whether that be good or bad.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beyonce: Cancer Mc
Britney Spears: Cancer Mc
Leonardo Di Caprio: Cancer Mc
Tyler Perry: Cancer Mc
Denzel Washington: Cancer Mc
Stevie Wonder: Cancer Mc

JFK: Cancer MC
Kendrick Lamar: Cancer Mc
Etta James: Moon 10h
Kylie Jenner: Moon 10h
Bill Gates: Moon 10h
Naomi Campbell: Moon 10h
Tina Turner: Moon 10h
Tyra Banks: Moon 10h
Idris Elba: Cancer Mc
I also find it funny how Barack Obama was one of the most liked president's if not the only most likable president's of The united states. And he has a Cancer Venus, making America's Venus & jupiter conjunct his Venus. So this explains alot, people with cancer in prominent places are usually seen as very iconic, and as trailblazers. This makes sense since Cancer is a cardinal sign and is also ruled by the moon. Moon is really what brings us peace of mind, and in a way, happiness. I have more coming out on this topic so don't think this is all ya'll!

Can you rank the Austen men from most to least likely to be unfaithful to their wives?
Ya people with your great questions messing up my carefully organized queue... lol, who am I kidding I have no organization. Excellent question!
I honestly believe that Jane Austen wrote and imagined these men as faithful, but given their personalities, moral codes, and circumstances, I shall sort them into two buckets, More Likely and Not Likely
Not Likely:
Fitzwilliam Darcy - I buy the argument that Darcy is demisexual, so I don't think he seeks out sex without emotional attachment and he'd definitely consider an emotional attachment cheating. I doubt he's a virgin, but I think he'd be faithful when married.
Edward Ferrars - he may have accidentally fallen in love while engaged, but he remained faithful to a woman he didn't even like. I cannot see him cheating on Elinor in a million years. Also, with his profession and dislike of London, he has low accessibility (a big factor in cheating).
George Knightley - perfectly content to mostly stay at home and hang out with Emma and her dad. I can't say he's ever seemed terribly sex motivated to me. Also, rarely leaves Highbury so low access.
Henry Tilney - My best boy would never do that to Catherine!
Colonel Brandon - No one in the history of the earth has ever exuded such a strong monogamous vibe. It is Marianne Dashwood or NO ONE.
More Likely:
Captain Wentworth - I think it really depends if Anne is able to travel with him. I'm mostly putting him here because I do get the feeling he has a fairly high sex drive and the navy means long separations and high availability. If Anne is pregnant or has children, traveling with him may be difficult or impossible. Emotionally though, he's all Anne.
Edmund Bertram - He'd feel very bad about it afterwards, but I can see it.
Charles Bingley - Sorry dude, again, I can see it. The fact that he constantly falls in love worries me. I do think he's too nice to ever let Jane find out.
Hm, those are just the heroes. Here are some bonus guys rapid fire:
Cheating/Cheated:
Willoughby, Wickham (canonically), Sir Thomas (hinted canon), Frank Churchill, Mr. Rushworth (Maria told him to), William Elliot, Robert Ferrars (ego boost), Sir Walter (his kids are too well spaced), General Tilney
Not Cheating:
Sir John Middleton (actively having babies), Dr. Grant (too lazy), John Knightley (he would never), Robert Martin (he would never!), John Dashwood (fears Fanny), Mr. Bennet (canon), Thomas Palmer, Mr. Elton, Mr. Collins (fears reputation damage), Admiral Croft (too in love), Captain Harville (ditto), Charles Musgrove (burns his energy hunting), Mr. Woodhouse (can't even imagine), Mr. Price
Not Included: Henry Crawford because we don't know if he'll marry and John Thorpe because who in their right mind would marry him!

So, there's this famous quote (and source of many memes) from Northanger Abbey, where Henry Tilney says:
“and this is a very nice day, and we are taking a very nice walk, and you are two very nice young ladies. Oh! It is a very nice word indeed! It does for everything. Originally perhaps it was applied only to express neatness, propriety, delicacy, or refinement—people were nice in their dress, in their sentiments, or their choice. But now every commendation on every subject is comprised in that one word.” (chapter 14)
Indeed, Jane doesn't seem to like the word that much, at least in this novel: of the 14 times it is used, 3 happen before this exchange, 10 during it, and then one last time in chapter 29.
It appears
7 times in Pride and Prejudice (used mainly by Lydia, but also by Mrs Bennet, Mrs Gardiner and Lady Catherine);
12 in Sense and Sensibility (by sir John, Marianne, Edward, Mrs Palmer, and Mrs Jennings most of all);
17 in Emma (by Harriet, Mr Woodhouse, Emma, Miss Bates, Mrs Elton, and Mr Weston);
15 in Mansfield Park (by Mrs Grant, Mrs Norris, Mary, Tom, Mr Crawford, Maria, and Edmund);
12 in Persuasion (by Elizabeth, Wentworth, Admiral Croft, Mr Elliot, Mary
But of those, none are used by the narrator in NA; 2 in P&P; 3 in S&S; 5 in Emma; 4 in MP; and 6 in Persuasion (and I'm including all indirect speech). Very nice.
But you know what generic, vague descriptor our beloved Jane loved? fine.
NA: 33 times (18 from dialogue: used my Mrs Thorpe, Mr Allen, Mrs Allen, John Thorpe, Catherine, a miss Thorpe, Isabella, Tilney, and Mrs Morland.)
P&P: 40 times (21 in dialogue: used by Mrs Bennet, Charlotte, Lizzy, Darcy, Caroline, Mrs Gardiner, Mrs Reynolds, and Mr Bennet)
S&S: 29 times (17 in dialogue: used by Willoughby, Marianne, Edward most of all, Mrs Palmer, Anne Steele, and Mrs Jennings)
Emma: 48 times (33 in dialogue: used by Harriet, Mr Woodhouse, Mr Knightley, Emma, Miss Bates, Jane Fairfax, Mr Weston, Frank, Mrs Cole, Mrs Elton)
MP: 67 times (38 in dialogue: used by Mr Rushworth, Lady Bertram, Edmund, Mrs Norris, Fanny, Mrs Grant, Dr Grant, Mr Crawford, William, Mrs Price, Mr Price, and Mary)
Persuasion: 35 times (17 in dialogue: by Mrs Musgrove, Mrs Croft, Charles Musgrove, Sir Walter, Admiral Croft, Captain Wentworth, lady Dalrymple, Harriet Smith).
Not only is fine used much, much more than nice, but nice is most often used by silly or unrefined characters, whereas fine sees more representation of all sorts of characters, and it is used by the narrator specifically, much, much more, not only to describe weather, but to describe people, places, clothes, and so on and so forth.
So, dear Jane, I think we need to talk...

Introduction to Environmental Ethics
I saw a post that reminded me how much I hate corn and the current agricultural industry. So in a caffeinated fugue state I found my old environmental ethics syllabus and collected links to the PDFs of as many articles I could find. Some topics include introduction to general ethics and philosophy, ethics in ecology, food and agriculture ethics, and predictions of viral outbreaks (I took this class during the 2020 spring semester and to say it was topical is an understatement).
These articles are meant to give a name and face to a lot of environmental concepts plus an overview of the historical and current landscape of this field. You do not have to agree with all ideas presented in these articles, and in fact most concepts have plenty of counter articles.
I did my best to only include links that show the PDF without needing to download anything, because I'm paranoid of random files automatically downloading and I don't want to inflict that on anyone else. I still include anything I couldn't find open access to since I don't want to leave anything out and other people might have better luck.
Readings and Resources
The Elements of Moral Philosophy by James Rachels
Contested Frameworks in Environmental Ethics by Clare Palmer
The Historical Roots of Our Environmental Crises by Lynn White, Jr.
The Evolutionary Roots of Our Environmental Crises by Dustin J. Penn and Iver Mysterud

Movie: A Fierce Green Fire (insitution libraries may have this, I wanted to recommend despite not finding a good link)

Hello RTA 👋🏻 Had a thought so wanted to share and ask your opinion on it.
Did you notice the increased bleating of GB News, Chris Ship, Richard Palmer, Petronella Wyatt, Daniela Elser & other self proclaimed royal experts demanding Charles and William to take the Harkles back? I feel like they’re starving for dramas & gossips from the inner royal circle & couldn’t get anyone, family nor staffs, to spill any secrets so they’re going mad. This is especially after Charles and Catherine’s diagnosis but that door shut firmly after Catherine’s video.
The repugnant loose lips will happily divulge private details in exchange of good PR for them like what’s happening now if William and Charles supposedly cave in to “public” demands to take the Harkles back in. It’s a win-win for 2 equally disgusting entities.
But from what I’m seeing online, no matter how much the MSM and tabloids suck up to the Harkles especially the Nigeria vacation, the public isn’t buying what they’re selling. Social media spreads information quicker, more efficiently with higher target reach and the videos of the Harkles + the dissatisfaction of the Nigerians about their visit is quickly becoming more popular than their very carefully curated photos, videos and hundreds of paid for articles. This much drive the Harkles and their mouthpieces crazy.
What do you think? 🙏🏻❤️
*******
I know it seems contrary but I don’t actually pay attention to the royal reporters. I keep an eye on The Times for their Sunday exclusives (because it’s usually Charles or William speaking) and scan the Daily Mail’s website/front page for headlines of the day but I don’t actually read the stories. Because the stories aren’t saying anything new.
And because the stories aren’t saying anything new, the reporters don’t have anything to write so they go back to what sells: the Charles/William/Harry drama. Much like Diana vs Sarah sold in the ‘80s, Diana vs Charles sold in the ‘90s,  and Kate vs Meghan sold 2017 - 2019, Charles vs William vs Harry is selling in the ‘20s. So I don’t pay much attention to what they say because it’s nothing new. You have two people complaining about each other to the press and one person who just wants to be left alone with his three true loves (his wife, his children, and Aston Villa).
The majority of the general public has never bought what Harry and Meghan are selling. It was always only a small, very outspoken, very loud group of people using a bully pulpit to shape public perception. The longer the Sussexes stay together, the more they push themselves into the public eye, the more they try to project popularity with the aid of their small but mighty supporters, the faster and more easily their dominoes fall and shatter the house of glass they’ve built themselves into.

John Linton Palmer, Sketches of moai on Rapa Nui (Easter Island), Nov 1868, watercolour, Easter Island Album, F030/6 © RGS-IBG.
Above: ‘Inside the crater at Otu-iti’ (pencil annotation: ‘Published in Illustrated News’).
Below: ‘One of the images outside the Crater at Otuiti. These were generally in much better preservation than those elsewhere, the angles of the stone still sharp’.
"Linton Palmer’s later sketches indicate an enduring interest in forms of material culture, architecture and archaeology. In 1863, for example, he took leave from HMS Melville to travel for three weeks up-river from Canton with a fellow-doctor William Kane, Scots businessman James Banks Taylor, a missionary Orientalist (and the future Oxford Professor of Chinese) James Legge and his Chinese secretary Tsang Kwei-Hwan. Linton Palmer sketched Buddhist temples and pagodas along the way, although they were not included in a subsequently published account of the trip. Drawing was also to play a significant role in his later studies of the ethnology and geography of Rapa Nui, arising from HMS Topaze’s visit there in November 1868. Although he appears to have included drawings with a letter sent to England the following month, Linton Palmer’s account was published by the Ethnological Society without the drawings, as was another paper presented to the Royal Geographical Society. Nor did his sketches of the skulls (which were sent to Thomas Huxley) appear in print. At least one of his drawings from the Topaze was published in engraved form in the Illustrated London News before his return to London (20 March 1869), and other sketches may have reached wider public audiences in the same way.
...
Today Linton Palmer’s most well-known sketches are those he made on the island of Rapa Nui (Easter island) in 1868, during which one of the moai, Hoa Hakananai’a, was excavated from its underground resting place. The evidential quality of Linton Palmer’s writings on Rapa Nui have been questioned by later archaeologists, especially his supposed tendency to rely on what is regarded as hearsay rather than first-hand observation. However, his sketches of the sites of the moai and the marks upon them constitute a significant and in some respects a unique documentary record which still has value in archaeological study.
...
In view of the continuing debate amongst Rapa Nui specialists over the quality of Linton Palmer’s evidence, it is worth making two further points. The first concerns the place of accurate observation within his routine practice as a naval surgeon: it was his responsibility to observe the bodies of the crew, the condition of the ship and of the weather, and in this context precise documentation in multiple forms was essential. In a naval setting, moreover, the notion of isolated observation independent of ‘hearsay’ does not really make sense: here an observation which was not shared could not be tested or relied upon. The second point concerns Linton Palmer’s prior experience of archaeological survey which has hitherto been unknown. In fact, ten years before the Topaze voyage, Linton Palmer himself had undertaken the first field survey of the stone circle at Calanais (Callanish) in the Hebrides, just prior to its excavation..." - from Felix Driver, “Material memories of travel: the albums of a Victorian naval surgeon.” Journal of Historical Geography 69 (2020): 48.

i went to a used book sale today... procured:
railroad color history: new york central railroad (brian solomon & mike schafer) — i'm not actually that into trains but it appealed to me.
the complete guide to the soviet union (jennifer louis & victor louis) — travel guide from 1980
an anthology including the big sleep (raymond chandler), "the undignified melodrama of the bone of contention" (dorothy l. sayers), "the arrow of god" (leslie charteris), "i can find my way out" (ngaio marsh), instead of evidence (rex stout), "rift in the loot" (stuart palmer & craig rice), "the man who explained miracles" (john dickson carr), & rebecca (daphne du maurier) (i already have this one..) — it's volume 2 of something (a treasury of great mysteries) which annoys me but whatever
an anthology including "godmother tea" (selena anderson), "the apartment" (t. c. boyle), "a faithful but melancholy account of several barbarities lately committed" (jason brown), "sibling rivalry" (michael byers), "the nanny" (emma cline), "halloween" (mariah crotty), "something street" (carolyn ferrell), "this is pleasure" (mary gaitskill), "in the event" (meng jin), "the children" (andrea lee), "rubberdust" (sarah thankam mathews), "it's not you" (elizabeth mccracken), "liberté" (scott nandelson), "howl palace" (leigh newman), "the nine-tailed fox explains" (jane pek), "the hands of dirty children" (alejandro puyana), "octopus vii" (anna reeser), "enlightenment" (william pei shih), "kennedy" (kevin wilson), & "the special world" (tiphanie yanique) — i guess they're all short stories published in 2020 by usamerican/canadian authors
an anthology including the death of ivan ilyich (leo tolstoy) (i have already read this one..), the beast in the jungle (henry james), heart of darkness (joseph conrad), seven who were hanged (leonid andreyev), abel sánchez (miguel de unamuno), the pastoral symphony (andré gide), mario and the magician (thomas mann), the old man (william faulkner), the stranger (albert camus), & agostino (alberto moravia)
the ambassadors (henry james)
the world book desk reference set: book of nations — it's from 1983 so this is kind of a history book...
yet another fiction anthology......... including the general's ring (selma lagerlöf), "mowgli's brothers" (rudyard kipling), "the gift of the magi" (o. henry) (i have already read this one..), "lord mountdrago" (w. somerset maugham), "music on the muscatatuck" (jessamyn west), "the pacing goose" (jessamyn west), "the birds" (daphne du maurier), "the man who lived four thousand years" (alexandre dumas), "the pope's mule" (alphonse daudet), "the story of the late mr. elvesham" (h. g. wells), "the blue cross" (g. k. chesterton), portrait of jennie (robert nathan), "la grande bretèche" (honoré de balzac), "love's conundrum" (anthony hope), "the great stone face" (nathaniel hawthorne), "germelshausen" (friedrich gerstäcker), "i am born" (charles dickens), "the legend of sleepy hollow" (washington irving), "the age of miracles" (melville davisson post), "the long rifle" (stewart edward white), "the fall of the house of usher" (edgar allan poe) (i have already read this one..), the voice of bugle ann (mackinlay kantor), the bridge of san luis rey (thornton wilder), "basquerie" (eleanor mercein kelly), "judith" (a. e. coppard), "a mother in mannville" (marjorie kinnan rawlings), "kerfol" (edith wharton), "the last leaf" (o. henry), "the bloodhound" (arthur train), "what the old man does is always right" (hans christian anderson), the sea of grass (conrad richter), "the sire de malétroit's door" (robert louis stevenson), "the necklace" (guy de maupassant) (i have already read this one..), "by the waters of babylon" (stephen vincent benét), a. v. laider (max beerbohm), "the pillar of fire" (percival wilde), "the strange will" (edmond about), "the hand at the window" (emily brontë) (i have already read this one..), & "national velvet" (enid bagnold) — why are seven of these chapters of novels....? anyway fun fact one of the compilers here also worked on the aforementioned mystery anthology. also anyway Why did i bother to write all that ☹️
fundamental problems of marxism (georgi plekhanov) — book about dialectical/historical materialism which is published here as the first volume of something (marxist library) which is kind of odd to me tbh
one last (thankfully tiny) anthology including le père goriot (honoré de balzac) & eugénie grandet (honoré de balzac)

Mmm, canon 😏
Christine Palmer
First appearance
Night Nurse #1 (November 1972)
Created by
Jean Thomas
Win Mortimer
Christine Palmer leaves her home in "an exclusive Midwestern suburb" against her father's wishes, intending to "make a new life without her father's money". In issue #2, her father comes to New York to try to convince her to return to her life as a debutante, threatening that "if you don't come home by Thanksgiving, then don't come home at all!" Though she considers his offer, she elects to stay in New York and becomes a surgical nurse for Dr. William Sutton. When Dr. Sutton's career ends in disaster, she leaves New York City and her friends behind, and travels the country, finding a job as a private nurse for a paraplegic at a spooky mansion. However, this particular position is short-lived. Palmer ends up returning to Metropolitan General Hospital, where she first encounters Storm and Nightcrawler of the X-Men. It is revealed in the Nightcrawler series that her mother lives in Tucson, Arizona.
Night Nurse is a comic-book series published by Marvel Comics in the early 1970s. Linda Carter, one of the series' three central characters, previously was the lead of an earlier Marvel series, Linda Carter, Student Nurse, published in 1961. Other central characters included Georgia Jenkins and Christine Palmer; both Linda Carter and Christine Palmer would later be explicitly incorporated into the larger 616 Marvel Universe comics.

a little film review: Babylon
2.5/5
Okay, let me first start with some praise. Margot Robbie gives an excellent performance. I definitely could see the influence of silent film actress Clara Bow, among other troubled silent film stars. The way she was able to go from sobbing to channeling that sadness to being the “life of the party” within a second was honestly maybe the only highlight of the movie. The set design and cinematography was fantastic though, so props to those departments. I also want to praise Jovan Adepo as Sidney Palmer. The most poignant scene of the entire film, when he is presented with coal in order to make himself look darker in order to make the band seem not mixed, really showcased how truly fucked up Hollywood can be in general and no matter the “progress” they are saying they are making, there is always things behind the scenes that prove they very much are not progressing. I think that was true in 1927 and it’s still true today. The way Adepo so subtly gives in while also making a life changing decision after the scene, and the way he plays the trumpet with the coal on his face and the emotions, truly so good. They should have made him the main character and tracked his storyline the whole time instead of what they went with.
Now the criticism. Which will be heavy haha. The movie was waaaayyy too long. The ending, terrible. Right when I was like, “okay it’s about to end” it dragged on another 20 minutes! If I’m waiting for a movie to finally be over, it’s not a good one. I very rarely feel that way about longer films, but because the story was so all over the place and sometimes way too fantastical, it made for a drag of a film. Speaking of fantasy, it really irked me that the characters in the film were all fake and maybe partially based off of some people and then having one or two “real people” really would just take me out of the film. I would have much rather it go all in with a fantasy land of 1920s Hollywood or do an actual ‘biopic’ of 1920s Hollywood. There are so many crazy things that happened and went on during that time period, that the fact they negated a lot of those stories to tell the story they told in the film was disappointing. You have the Fatty Arbuckle scandal, the William Desmond Taylor murder, the weird overdose of Olive Thomas, the addictions of Wallace Reid etc. so many other storylines could have had the opportunity to be told yet Damien Chazelle decided to try and reimagine that time period with some true aspects, a lot of false aspects and overall, in my opinion, it fell flat and felt like it would never end. No fantastic performance was going to save the overall material unfortunately. But I will say besides the stellar performance by Margot Robbie, everyone did solid and honestly that was the only thing keeping me in the theater. The rest of it was pretty shit. So I say wait for it to come out on streaming if only for Robbie’s performance and the way it was shot, but if you’re looking for a portrait of 1920s Hollywood, just go watch a silent film instead.
