Essential Avengers: West Coast Avengers #64: SHOW AND TELL

Cap, no! That's your World War II buddy, Jim Hammond! Don't hurt him, not while he's serving cake!
This is a fill-in issue. For whatever reason, Terry Kavanagh came in to write this issue, instead of the usual team of Thomases.
And it's not really a West Coast Avengers story. It's a Captain America story. Despite the cover saying he's guest starring, it's more like a couple West Coast Avengers characters are guest starring in his life.
Last times in West Coast Avengers: it is a superhero team that exists and the robot Human Torch, Jim Hammond, is a member.
But enough about him, this is a Captain America story, which is why we start with

Rick Jones getting kidnapped.
Dammit, Rick!
But specifically, this is a transmission that Captain America received, which he manages to trace to the West Coast Avengers Compound!
DUN DUN DUN!
The robot Human Torch, Jim Hammond, answers the big video screen when Cap calls to investigate.
Also, Cap commits a micro-aggression against his good robot pal bud, Jim Hammond.

"Hey, Cap, you're made of meat, why don't you try to interface with a donkey?"
You've been spoiled by Vision, who will plug his brain into any computer, Cap.
But Jim investigates and finds that the West Coast Avengers' computers were hacked and used to reroute a message from an abandoned carnival in the Midwest.
As soon as Cap gets the address, he's gone. He doesn't even bother hanging up the call.
Dammit, Cap, Tony is going to get stuck with that long-distance bill!
But it seems that some little dweeb is the one who sent the message.

I can tell it's some little dweeb because his mom comes in and yells at him that it's bedtime.
The dweeb, Stevie Wojciehowicz, sneaks out after lights out, thinking how great it is that he found a lucky, magical red rock.
Captain America arrives at some abandoned amusement park, while back at the West Coast Avengers Compound, robot Human Torch discovers that the amusement park was not the source of the signal but another relay station!
IT'S A TRAP!
Jim tells Wonder Man to cover monitor duty for him and then flies off to warn Cap, since he can't reach him on communications.
This situation is potentially very dangerous because Jim Torch also detected an energy residue similar to the crimson gem of Cyttorak. Y'know, the thing that made the Juggernaut jugger his nauts? A pretty big deal of a mystic artifact?
So, apparently some backstory. At some point, Juggernaut decided to turn his life partner Black Tom Cassidy into another Juggernaut with the gem so they could jugger together. Except, he realized that this split his own power in half so he threw the gem into space to get his full strength back.
Meanwhile, at the amusement part, copyright infringement.

Earlier there was a funhouse entrance shaped like the Joker's head.
Anyway, the amusement park has been converted into a death trap. Mannequins dressed as popular characters try to kill Cap. The normal lights and sounds have been cranked to painful. And the walls are trying to crush Cap.
Cap escapes the room just before the walls close in but winds up on a white river rapid tunnel of love. He survives going over a waterfall by riding his shield down.
Captain America: "How does anyone get by without an indestructible shield?"
And then the big, lumpy guy from the kidnapping video punches him in the head and steals said shield.
Rude.
Meanwhile, while flying to help Cap, Jim Hammond Human Torch has been struck by lightning, attacked by mirror duplicates of himself, uno reverse carded by the mirrors, and finally attacked by illusions of monsters and his Invaders friends who mess with his circuits thanks to Stevie Wojciehowicz and the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak. This just isn't his day!
But in the madness, he spots Rick Jones and chases after him. Only for both him and Cap (chasing and retrieving his shield from that big guy) to end up in the wax museum.

And suddenly the wax figures come to life and start attacking Cap and Human Torch with wax copies of the real heroes' powers.
Also, Cap and Human Torch assume each other are also wax figures because what else would they think at this point?
They both go to save Rick Jones, menaced by the big lumpy guy, so wind up fighting each other.
Just another classic Marvel Misunderstanding Fight tm.
Anyway, while the two of them are realizing that they're each other, the big, lumpy yellow guy catches Rick and pokes his eyes out.
Gruesome.
And then the Great Lakes Avengers show up, see Cap and Torch standing over a dead Rick Jones and Avengers Assemble on the two heroes.

So, the Great Lakes Avengers getting involved was foreshadowed. By having shadowy figures receive a call, allegedly from Captain America, calling them into action.
Dammit, Stevie!
Seriously, though, it's good to see that someone remembers them and still wants to use them for something. Their appearance in the Terminus Factor wasn't really much to write home about.
Jim Hammond Human Torch grabs Cap and rockets him away from the Great Lakes Avengers but Dinah Soar knocks the two to the ground. Flatman grabs Captain America and Dinah Soar keeps on the Torch.
Mr Immortal tries to flank Cap but the Torch sees it and fires a little fire blast and kinda sorta fries him into a corpse.
Human Torch: "No... It can't be... I didn't mean to kill him! I guess I just assumed... with a name like Mr Immortal... that he couldn't be..."
Cap has to explain to him that he's the kind of immortal where he gets better from fatal injuries. He is people that does not die when he is killed.
Mr Immortal pops back up during this explanation, KRAKs Cap in the head, and tries to run off with his shield.
So the Torch goes 'ok so if he can't die, then I can really brutalize him' and flame broils Mr Immortal into ashes.

There's something about people that can't die that just makes superheroes go 'oh sweet, I can get nasty!'
But there's other Great Lakes Avengers members that haven't shown up so Big Bertha suddenly appears, trying to cannonball the Human Torch.
Cap throws his mighty shield to get her off Jim but Doorman jumps out and lets the shield fly into his portal body.
Doorman's body is a portal to the next room. That's his thing. I don't know how that applies here because the shield doesn't go into the next room. It just disappears into Doorman.
Cap helps Torch heft Big Bertha off himself and throw her on Doorman. And then while the Great Lakes Avengers are incapacitated, Cap goes to inspect the dead, deceased Rick Jones and discovers, yup, that's a wax figure.
Rick was never here. It was all a ruse.
Sheepishly, the Great Lakes Avengers explain that they got a call on the Avengers computers from who they thought was Captain America, telling them that an imposter Captain America had stolen his shield and that only the Great Lakes Avengers could be trusted to retrieve it.
And to his dismay, Doorman discovers that the shield isn't where he teleported it to. Which was apparently supposed to be just to the side.
Geez, the Great Lakes Avengers finally get some screen time and it's being fooled into helping steal Cap's mighty shield.
Except Cap was one step ahead.
He noticed that the robots and wax figures at this amusement park trap kept trying to steal his shield. So he pulled an ol' switcheroo in the wax museum.
Captain America: "The Avengers will find whoever is responsible for this -- and we might want to look for the real Rick Jones while we're at it -- but, in the meantime, the perpetrator is in for a surprise when he tries to use the shield for whatever his dark purpose."
Which is show and tell.
Just like the title of the issue warned us about!
Stevie caused the Avengers all this grief because he wanted to steal Cap's shield for show and tell. And lie and say Cap gave it to him for being such a cool dude.

Unfortunately, for Stevie, he didn't notice the ol' switcheroo until now, when he pulls out the shield and sees its all melty. And alllll of his classmates laugh at him.
I'd feel bad for him if he hadn't been idly musing about killing his whole class even before they laughed at him.
So Stevie swears revenge and probably terrorizes his school with a magical red rock. Probably.
Stevie only appears in this one issue of West Coast Avengers.
That untold tale where he and the Hulk fought the Juggernaut? Never gets told. How the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak goes from Stevie back to the Juggernaut? Unknown. Whether Stevie made good on his vow to make the Avengers pay? I know about as much as you do.
I guess nobody was interested in following up on this plot thread that Terry Kavanagh established, not even Terry Kavanagh.
Next on West Coast Avengers, Grim Reaper again, oy. But first, next on Avengers, more of Rage and the hero of Chernobyl guy.

hellooooo here's my wall of text jumpscare...... I'm sending it in two parts and I'm making the text small because. my god. anyways hi hello some of these might not fit entirely bcs I do not watch all the lifers and my memory is not the best
Bdubs — reeflux, reeflux in itself doesn't seem threatening, and neither does Bdubs. however when given the chance both Bdubs and reeflux can be deadly!!! also. coughs. bow buddies w Etho. they probably support each other in battle. BUT BACK TO THE POINT yeah reeflux looks very innocent but can be quite a lethal weapon when played right and Bdubs can definitely be lethal too if he wants to be :3 
BigB — carbon deco, he's often laying low and doesn't bring too much attention to himself, which is similar to how you play carbon!! :D slightly unsettling guy with a slightly unsettling weapon that constantly makes you pay a little bit more attention. just to be sure.
Cleo — wiper, from the kills they got a bunch of them are with swords so I thought wiper would be fitting!! on top of that, when in the hands of a good player wiper can be very scary, similar to how some people (Etho) are scared of Cleo!! on a silly note, torp is kinda like a “whatever, go my torp” sub like how she was able to summon zombies and make them hunt after players, and both torps and the zombies are shot down easily!!
Etho — tristringer, he gets his ass kicked in close combat often, HOWEVER he can set up traps and get kills that way (sometimes)!! tristringer fits very well here imo because I generally see him as a bow user and tristringers kit allows for traps pretty decently, toxic mist and killer wail can actually be pretty useful if you use it right!! also there might be a slight bias here bcs I play stringers alot but you didn't hear that from me nuh uh.
Gem — gold naut, alright so most of Gems kills were with a sword, so you could say “splatana!” HOWEVER. I already did that with Cleo. it’s less fun the second time. ANYWAYS naut is a very strong pvp weapon!! and Gem is a very strong pvper!! alt kit over vanilla naut because I feel like suction and splashdown fit her better as they’re both more offensive while the vanilla kit is more supportive!!
Grian — squelchers, mainly because of the splat bombs I’m ngl (tnt minecarts off skynet.. splat bombs.. trust me on this one), I really don’t have much other reasoning??? the colour also matches his skin!!
Impulse — eliter, he tries to play very tactical and all that with traps (in wl atleast) and forgets his enderpearls when he’s falling to his death. fumbling and forgetting stuff the moment you’re in trouble is the peak Eliter Experience trust me. also inkmines are kinda traps!! I’m totally not giving one of my mains to one of my favs nope. 
Jimmy — dapples, a pathetic weapon for a pathetic guy /j. OKAY JOKES ASIDE Jimmy is not great at surviving and neither are most dapple players due to how little range the weapon has. vanilla dapples instead of nouveau bcs I can see him supporting his teammates w beakons and coolers rather than charging into combat (and also I don’t think anyone should be subjected to the horror that is the ndapples kit)
Joel — mint decav, strong main weapon with an offensive sub and a defensive special!! saw a tweet saying Joel wants to protect those he’s allied with but he also really wants to fight people and I feel like decav fits very well with that?? it’s an offensive weapon but bubbler can be used to protect his team!!

I LOVE THESE SO MUCH?? oh the thought and care put into each down to the sub and special!
i think all of these fit the people so well! literally the only one i have thoughts on is tango's....which is unsurprising..
my thoughts while i was drawing that octo!tango was all mobility and Getting Away- Flee with Extra Flee, if you will- aligned, and that screams inkbrush to me. it also matches tango's spammy way of just swinging his sword at his assailant and trying to either knock them away or just do just enough damage to kill them first. but i love the stamp as a special for him, especially since he got some amazing kills in Wild Life with the hammer.
skizz being a brella user is so smart! especially when considering that impulse uses a eliter! i just got this really vivid image in my head of impulse using skizz's cover to take out people and that altogether reminds me of impulse and skizz playing battle field together. also jimmy being a dapples user is so funny to me, like, yeah <3
all of these are so spot on that it's like,"yeah, i'll incorporate that into my belief system"
(i know, i get scared of yapping too much too, but i love listening! i really don't mind and this was so cool!)

Amphibia Crack Treated Seriously AU: Basically, and amphibia au where the box sends the trio to Rogueport/the lands surrounding it.
So I've been busy this weekend but saw this one, and I have to say, there are a lot of weird little parallels between The Thousand Year Door and Amphibia you wouldn't expect.
Story focused on finding some gem macguffins. Which the protagonists think are a force of good but actually unleash something terrible on the world (Crystal Stars/Calamity Box)
An evil empire buried/sealed for roughly 1000 years.
An evil corrupting force(Shadow Queen/the Core) possessing the body of the main character's love interest lady friend. (Peach/Marcy)
A loyal servant of the sealed evil trying to bring about their return (Beldam/Andrias)
A protagonist who get's cheered on by the world in the final fight.
That all said, for a crossover, I don't know if there are a lot of stuff that would change. There's a couple of factions but the only one that really matter is the x-nauts. While all the different set pieces are super fun to visit, they aren't suuuuper deep to dig into.
I would absolutely love to see the Trio in Paper Mario art though, that would be adorable.

This next story is about a band of intergalactic adventurers travelling through space together! It was written for the Multigenre Mashup Smackdown on Wattpad! This was by far the most fun writing challenge I participated in, with it essentially being a writing battle royale. Each round had two prompts, with 2 genres and a bonus challenge in each! After the stories were in, they'd assign points to everyone, and the people with the highest points would move one. I lasted two rounds, producing four short stories. This was my warm up entry, before the contest started. It was generally well received! The only prompt for the warm up was that it had to feature elements of a flat Earth. Now, without further delay, here are the Star-Crossed Explorers!!
In a small pod drifting through space, three friends sit. One sits behind the pod's steering wheel. He's wearing a red vest over a plain white shirt. He has dark brown hair with a matching beard. A man behind him points over his shoulder, out the pod window. He has a jacket studded with blue gems and silky blonde hair. In the back is a man in a yellow space suit with a black visor hiding their face. 
"Look! A planet!" The blonde man yells.
"I see it Star," Says the man at the wheel. "Could you please not yell in my ear?"
"Sorry..." Star replies.
The man in the space suit holds one hand flat at a 45 degree angle and slides their other hand across it. 
"Naut wants to go," Star says. "Come on Rocket!"
"Ok," Rocket responds, tilting the controls towards the planet. "Just a quick stop though."
The pod swerves and rests on the surface of the rocky little planet. The planet is covered in small orange rocks, with a green sky above. The planet is perfectly round and almost completely flat. A small door in the side of the pod opens and a small ramp extends down to the surface of the planet. 
The trio steps out with Rocket and Star wearing some sort of metallic masks. 
Rocket looks around. "Green atmosphere. Could be neon or helium. better keep the masks on to be safe."
 Naut looks around. They holds both hands up to their chest, bent 90 degrees. 
Star nods at Naut. He strikes a dynamic pose with his arms in the air. "It is very flat! It's like my own little stage for the whole universe to see!"
The three stop. They've reached an edge. The sky seems to continue past the line, but thinner, allowing stars to be seen. In front of them is a cliff that doesn't seem to have a bottom, just more sky below it.
Rocket peers over the edge. "Haven't seen anything like that before... There's rocks on the other side. It has reversed gravity!"
Star beams, smiling as bright as a star. "That's awesome! I'm not going over though, not until one of you test it."
Naut steps forward but Rocket puts his hand out. 
"Step back Supernaut. If anyone's going over, it's me."
Rocket steps forward. His toes hang over the ledge. He takes a step. He swings around the planet, ending up on the bottom. 
"Don't worry guys! It's safe!"
The other two also step over the line, swinging around to the other side of the planet. They look around in amazement. Despite being upside down, the gravity still holds them to the planet.
"This is pretty awesome!" Star excitedly yelled.
Supernaut holds two fingers out horizontal in front of their chest and another two in front of their visor. They then bring the two from their visor down on top of the ones on their chest. 
Rocket walks back over to the edge. "Hold on guys... Let me try something."
Rocket steps on the halfway point of the edge, teetering between both sides of the planet. He holds his hands out to the side, like someone walking a tightrope. Then, he slowly takes a step, before slipping and falling.
"That looks like so much fun!!" Star yells.
This small trip to the new planet lasted eight and a half hours.

Some who may share the same knowledge of polishing gems or ensuring they are treated, even if a large amount of time has passed, would have been judgmental. Not Vasco. While he could get annoyed by certain small things, this is not one of them. Riza genuinely didn't know polishing could occur or rather, it didn't cross her mind. She didn't even seem to be the type to be into gems all that much, which is understandable. He couldn't blame her and her not knowing.
❝Well, I am happy to help out. I'm not the expert in these kind of things, but sometimes my line of duties came across these types of gems. It could be months before I could get them delivered anywhere. Why not keep them top-notch? I mean some people are so picky.❞ Riza probably didn't care why he knew what he knew, but an explanation is given regardless. Vasco knew some people - especially nobles - are picky with their gems and want it to be the best shape. So, it fell onto the Nauts to ensure these kind of things. ❝We can start with this one for now and if you come across any other gems, I could teach you about them too.❞

polishing. it seems such an obvious thing. pearls are considered gems and used in jewelry, of course they would need to be polished but all that is new to riza. she has only worn the necklace in question once and kept it carefully stored since then.
“ well.. they are round and white. ”  she tries to be helpful in her description but as soon as the words leave her lips riza realizes she has been anything but helpful. it's a little embarrassing too, how little she knows or understands about things related to the matter. specially in front of someone who lives and breathes everything ocean.
“ not stark white but ivory, i guess. when we eloped, my dress was ivory, not bright white. the necklace was made to match. ”  she rambles quietly,  “ i'm not sure what type are they and what are they called. ”  riza admits sheepishly, almost as if apologizing for not knowing nearly enough for a conversation. 
“ i would appreciate some help learning how to clean them so much though. and how to keep the necklace stored safely, it means a lot to me. ”

Guide to Gridman Universe Part 3h: Diaclone Vs Gridman
TakaraTomy returned to the Gridman Universe after over 25 years, producing 3 Gridman figures as part of the revived Diaclone line. As promotion a 4 part web novel was produced, in a similar way to the story pages in toy catalogs that told the story of the original Diaclone toyline, and the web story that told the story of Diaclone's 2016 revival, though this story has a specific focus character, unlike Diaclone. The story is also a deliberate midquel for both series, set between Diaclone and Diaclone 2016 for the world of Diaclone, and between Denkou Chojin Gridman and SSSS.Gridman for Gridman.

The first chapter sees Gridman materialise in the Diaclone universe, taken as a new threat like the Waruders, he is attacked by the Dia-Nauts using their Dia-Tector suits and other weaponry. Losing his body, he merges with Dia-Naut Kaizaki Hikari, a researcher who longs for a hero after her brother was killed in the war against the Waruders. She and her brother had invented a hero called Silver Kration to give themselves hope during that time. Gridman warns her that Planet Waruder's remains have become a Kaiju and are coming to destroy earth, so he grants her an Acceptor.

With Giganter appearing, Gridman request Hikari get him an audience with the Landmaster, the computer consciousness that rules the Macro Zones on earth, in producing Assist Weapons, Hikari against orders takes a Dia-Wing from the moon back to earth. Giganter's destruction also brings smaller Kaiju attacking people. After crashing, and with Gridman not strong enough to materialise, Hikari commandeers a Powered Suit, using the Freezon power from it Gridman is able to engineer a partial manifestation, converting it into the Grid Suit to fight and help the Diaclone forces. With external access to the Landmaster cut off, they have to physically reach the computer.

Reaching an old terminal connected to Landmaster, Gridman travels into his Computer World. After determining it cannot replicate Gridman's abilities, it decides on cooperation, using Freezon Energy to restore Gridman, and adapts the data of Dia-Battles V1 to create an Assist Weapon in the Battle Hanger. An additional weapon designed is the Thunder Crash Caliber, which will require a special gem found only on Europa, though Hikari has one as a keepsake from her brother and father. Work continues, so they can launch Operation Grand Omega Cross before Giganter absorbs all Freezon in Japan.

Gridman uses the image of Silver Kration to develop a new form, so when Hikari Access Flashes he becomes Primal Fighter, fighting Giganter. On completion of the Battle Hanger, Landmaster pilots it into the real world via Gridman's Passroute, and then combines the Battle Hanger with Gridman to form Battles Gridman. The battle rages, Battles Gridman holding on with support from the Diaclone team, until the Thunder Crash Caliber is completed, and they defeat Giganter. Gridman leaves Hikari behind.

The first release consisted of Primal Fighter Gridman, the Thunder Crash Caliber, Battle Hanger and a Dia-Naut representing a virtual avatar of the Landmaster. The Thunder Crash Caliber can divide into the Thunder Sword and Thunder Shield, and can be mounted on the Battle Hanger, and Gridman can ride atop the Battle Hanger.

When Battles Gridman forms the cockpit of Battles Hanger detaches and forms a Bullet Fighter. Battles Gridman has 3 modes, A Mode, Full Attack Mode where the Power Vice activates and the guns flip forwards, and B Mode, where the wings and guns are detached, and can be attached to the Bullet Fighter to form the Combat Support Aircraft.

The 2nd release is a metallic paint Gridman, with Thunder Crash Caliber, a Dia-Naut representing Hikari, and a Diaclone Road Viper bike.

So, here’s what I think of what Bronzite (The Fusion of Sphene (Ford) and Rhodochrosite (Helmut)) would look like, I gave him a design that themed after Vision (Helmut's Mental World's counterpart of Ford) and he is pretty good with playing a figment violin with psychic powers. In other words, he is a Vision Sense Peepaw! And yes, The Other Gem from Sphene is on the back of his head, hidden somewhere in his hair!

5e Nibbs, the Dragon Warrior of Coba build (Awesomenauts)

Happy Halloween! Dragons are scary, right? I mean who else would I make for Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons than an actual dragon? I had always planned on making Nibbs when Fizban’s came out because one of the subclasses in that book works very well for her. (And if you consider that the other subclass is a summoner which Nibbs most certainly isn’t it’s fairly obvious which subclass I’m using.)
Unfortunately those plans got delayed by the Fizban’s delay, and got further hampered by some of the player options in Fizban’s being... a little less than ideal. Well we can still make due. After all: “She's fighting for sweets / It's all that she needs / To make killing sprees!”
GOALS
Can you smell burning? That's you! - What’s a dragon without fire? Or other types of elemental breath.
Ha! Cut to ribbons! - What’s a dragon without sharp claws and teeth?
Tag, you're it! - What’s a dragon without... Teleportation? Well it’s still useful regardless.
RACE
If you want to be a purple dragon look no further than the new Gem Dragonborn, more specifically the Amethyst Dragonborn which are indeed purple, and also get a Force damage breath as well as Force damage resistance. However the thing is that Nibbs doesn’t really have a Psionic Mind for telepathy, nor does she have Gem Flight. So...
We go for the alternative when playing a small dragon: Kobold! Which sadly wasn’t remade in Fizban’s... *Sigh* Well we’ll make due with the Volo’s stats for now. Your Dexterity increases by 2 and... that’s it. Yeah this is why I was hoping Fizban’s would give us better Kobolds. Anyways you have Darkvision (which I only mention because Kobolds don’t have much else), and can spend your action to Grovel, Cower, and Beg to give your fellow sisters advantage against enemies within 10 feet of you.
Of course the big boon for Kobolds is their Pack Tactics, giving you use some actual teamwork in a MOBA to get advantage if an enemy is within 5 feet of an ally when you attack them. This however comes with the massive disadvantage of Sunlight Sensitivity for disadvantage on Perception checks and attack rolls if an enemy is in direct sunlight.
In short: if you want more starting stats, an innate breath weapon, innate resistance to one of the least-resisted and granted least-common damage types, telepathy, and flight then I would highly suggest playing a Gem Dragonborn instead. But if you want to be small and have advantage with your allies then Kobold is good too! For the sake of this post I made Nibbs a Kobold but if I was playing her personally I’d probably make her a Dragonborn, honestly. It’s just that Flight really doesn’t fit her.
ABILITY SCORES
15; DEXTERITY - Nibbs is classified as an assassin. Yes the cute little dragon is an assassin. This is why I love Awesomenauts.
14; CHARISMA - Nibbs is cute(?) and this is a requirement for the funny multiclass.
13; WISDOM - Nibbs may be a little ditzy but the Sisterhood of Coba has secret plans that are beyond normal comprehension. Which is to say Wisdom too is a requirement for our class.
12; CONSTITUTION - Nibbs may be squishy in ‘nauts but Power Pills Turbo go a long way to keeping you healthy and happy.
10; STRENGTH - Nibbs is a dragon and despite everything, which means she can put a bit of force behind her strikes
8; INTELLIGENCE - Nibbs is an attack animal more on the side of animal than anything. Hard to read a book when you keep setting it on fire.
If you made Nibbs a Dragonborn instead of a Kobold put your +1 into Wisdom and ignore the half feat we’ll take later in this build.
BACKGROUND
There’s no good background for “inter-dimensional space dragon”, but chances are the Sisterhood of Coba have already made a presence in your world, meaning that you can serve as their Faction Agent! You get proficiency in Insight as well as Persuasion (don’t pretend that you aren’t good at it) and two languages which Nibbs will definitely remember as Nibbs speak about Nibbs in third person.
Your background feature Safe Haven will give you and your allies a place to buy items and heal up under the watchful Eye of Omicron, as long as your friends don’t have a problem with your sisters wanting to take over the world or whatever.
See, I love making Awesomenauts builds because I get to quote lore that literally none of my regular League of Legends-based fans will understand. 🤪

THE BUILD
LEVEL 1 - MONK 1
Starting off as a Monk for proficiency in Acrobatics, Stealth (bush camping is a viable strategy), and a musical instrument (or Artisan’s Tool) of your choice: Nibbs theme includes Drums, Flute, a Horn and all that good 80s opening musical instruments you know and love, so pick your fancy because it really doesn’t matter.
The reason we went with Monk is because it’s the fastest way to get into a Dragon Frenzy thanks to Martial Arts! You can use Dexterity instead of Strength to make unarmed strikes, your unarmed attack now uses a d4, and most importantly you can use your Bonus Action to make an extra attack! Get to max frenzy to lay down the smack! Raaawr!
Additionally armor would hamper your cuteness, so Unarmored Defense will serve to let you add both Wisdom and Dexterity to your natural AC.
LEVEL 2 - MONK 2
Second level Monks get Ki to use on some more draconic abilities! To get your Frenzy on use Flurry of Blows to make two attacks instead of one with your Bonus Action! If you need to run Step of the Wind will allow you to Dash or Disengage as a Bonus Action. And if you want to stay and fight Patient Defense will let you up your dodging game!
Additionally your Unarmored Movement increases by 10 which means exactly what it sounds like: your movement speed is increased by 10 feet! Fun!
LEVEL 3 - MONK 3
one of the subclasses in (Fizban’s) works very well for (Nibbs.) (And if you consider that the other subclass is a summoner which Nibbs most certainly isn’t it’s fairly obvious which subclass I’m using.)
So Nibbs is part of the Way of the Ascendant Dragon, of course. For a start this makes you a Draconic Disciple for a variety of benefits:
If you fail an Intimidation Persuasion check, you can use your reaction to invoke your Draconic Presence and reroll the check. Once you use this to give yourself a success, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
You can turn any of your unarmed strikes into a Draconic Strike that deals acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison damage.
And finally Tongue of Dragons would’ve given you the Draconic language, but you already have it. So grab another language instead and enjoy the fact that Nibbs now knows 5 different languages!
But of course the most important ability is Breath of the Dragon, letting you use your Fire Breath! Or Ice Breath! Or even Lightning Breath! When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can replace one of the attacks with your burning breath! You can breath either a 20-foot cone or a 30-foot line that is 5 feet wide, and it can deal either acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison damage.
Each creature that you hit must make a Dexterity saving throw or take damage equal to two rolls of your Martial Arts die (the same damage as your unarmed strikes), or half as much damage on a successful save. You can breathe fire (or whatever other element you choose) for free a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and must spend 2 Ki points after the fact when you run out. You regain all your free uses of this ability after a Long Rest.
Lotta text huhn? Well any Monk also gets Deflect Missiles at this level, letting you use your reaction to reduce the damage of an incoming ranged weapon attack by a d10 plus your Dexterity modifier and your Monk level. If you reduce the damage to 0 you can even catch the shot, and throw it back with a Ki point if you want! "Oooh, what does this button do?"
LEVEL 4 - MONK 4
4th level Monks get the first of many Ability Score Improvements, and as a Kobold Monk there’s very little reason not to take Squat Nimbleness. This will give you +1 to your Dexterity, +5 movement speed, proficiency with the Athletics skill, and advantage to break free from grapples!
If you went with a Dragonborn simply increase your Dexterity and Wisdom by 1 at this level, and we’ll address the uneven Wisdom when we get there.
Additionally you get Slow Fall, because Awesomenauts is set in space with low gravity after all! (Or it might be because you have wings.) If you were going to take fall damage you can use your reaction to reduce it by 5 times your Monk level.
And because Tasha didn’t think Monks got enough abilities you get Quickened Healing, letting you use 2 Ki points to regenerate health equal to a roll of your Martial Arts die plus your proficiency bonus. It’s not exactly efficient but it works, and since Ki comes back after a Short Rest you can spend any of your spare Ki points to kill minions for health.
LEVEL 5 - MONK 5
5th level Monks get Extra Attack for even more Frenzy, which is great because your Martial Arts die increases to a d6 for deadlier claws and hotter breath!
You also get Stunning Strike for a Beryl Scale Cloak to hold a foe in place for your Fire Breath! And finally in case your attacks aren’t hitting Tasha offers you Focused Aim, letting you use between 1 to 3 Ki points to... focus your aim and increase your hit chance by 2 per Ki point spent.

LEVEL 6 - WARLOCK 1
This is the gag that doesn’t end
It keeps going on and on my friend
The people ask for different classes and I never stop using Warlock because...
Okay at least I have a good reason for Warlock levels on Nibbs. Sorta. Warlocks get to choose their subclass at level 1 and there’s two Patrons who work good for the Sisterhood of Coba. The Fiend Patron keeps their soldiers safe thanks to Dark One’s Own Luck, giving you Temporary Hitpoints whenever you down a foe for a bit more sustain. Alternatively the Genie Patron gives you more damage on your strikes (fire damage if you go for the Efreeti Genie Kind), as well as a place to stay in your Genie’s Vessel! I personally went for the Genie patron because extra damage felt in-flavor for Nibbs, and carrying your house in your pocket felt in-flavor for Awesomenauts!
Of course Warlocks get access to Spellcasting: for your cantrips take Prestidigitation for all sorts of general magic dragon stuff, and depending on your DM you can use Magic Stone with a Sling for a reliable ranged damage option that uses your Dexterity. If they won’t let you use your Dexterity on a Sling with Magic Stone however then something like Chill Touch works fine.
As for leveled spells take Charm Person, which is always useful to get more treats. If you want more Fire Breath however look no further than Burning Hands!
LEVEL 7 - WARLOCK 2
Second level Warlocks get their Eldritch Invocations: start by taking Devil’s Sight. I know it’s more useful if you don’t already have Darkvision (such as by being a Dragonborn) but even as a Kobold augmenting your Darkvision to 120 feet that works in magical darkness is very useful! Other than that I took Fiendish Vigor to give yourself some Temporary Hitpoints if you have a moment to breathe and regenerate health
You can also learn another spell but I’m going to wait a bit for...
LEVEL 8 - WARLOCK 3
Third level Warlocks get to choose their Pact Boon and I’m going to be honest: we don’t really need any of them? Your claws and fire breath already do more than enough damage so whatever you pick for your Pact Boon is going to be more for utility. So take Pact of the Tome for some utility cantrips, Pact of the Chain for a mini Nibbs, or heck even Pact of the Talisman to give yourself or an ally a bit of skill check safety.
I’m going to be real though the main reason we went to third level of Warlock is for second level spells like Misty Step, which will serve as an Orb Of Omicron you can cast up to two times per day for a quick way out of a fight, or a quick way in! Other than that while it may not fit Nibbs well Mirror Image is simply too good for a Monk in particular not to take. It greatly increases your survivability as a Monk and keys directly off your Dexterity which makes it all the better.

LEVEL 9 - MONK 6
Back over to Monk finally to get our double jump! When you use Step of the Wind you can activate Wings Unfurled to give yourself a Fly speed! It’s only for that turn, but if you’re Dashing as a Monk this can give you a huge amount of distance.
You can only use this a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, after which this ability is gone until your next Long Rest. That’s a pretty big nerf from its UA version (which is why I personally suggest some homebrew changes) but in combination with Misty Step you can use these abilities to get wherever you need to go with little trouble. Especially since your Unarmored Movement is now 15 feet, which combines with the 5 feet from Squat Nimbleness to allow you to move 50 feet per turn!
LEVEL 10 - MONK 7
The cool thing about being in a platform fighter is that you can dodge just about any attack. Evasion makes it so that if you succeed on a Dexterity saving throw you’ll take no damage, instead of the half damage you would’ve taken. But what if you fail your save? Well then you take half damage instead of full!
Additionally you get Stillness of Mind, letting you end an effect of being Charmed or Frightened on yourself as an action. No being charmed by treats, and no being afraid when there’s treats to be had!
LEVEL 11 - MONK 8
Remember when I said telepathy doesn’t make sense for Nibbs? Well we still need a way to team chat. So take the Telepathic feat to be able to team chat with allies within 60 feet (although they still have to answer you out loud), and you can grab the Detect Thoughts spell which you can cast using your Wisdom. You can cast it once for free without using a spell slot, and can use your Warlock slots to cast it again later. Oh and this feat increases your Wisdom by 1.
If you went for Dragonborn instead then Resilient Wisdom can serve you well. Unless you think you’re going to be going to total level 17 in which case you can take Skill Expert instead I guess.

LEVEL 12 - MONK 9
9th level Monks get an Unarmored Movement Improvement to run along walls and across liquids! Between walking on walls, flying, and teleporting there’s little that can separate you and your lunch!
LEVEL 13 - MONK 10
10th level Monks have Purity of Body, making them immune to disease and poison so you can bug Gnaw as much as you want. Additionally your Unarmored Movement is now 20 feet which adds up to 55 feet total.
LEVEL 14 - MONK 11
11th level Ascendant Dragon Monks can invoke the Aspect of the Wyrm. As a bonus action you create a 10 foot aura around you for 1 minute. For the duration you can give yourself and your allies in the aura Resistance to either acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison damage. I mean you could also use your Frightful Presence to force enemies to make a Wisdom save or be frightened, but by total level 14 most things are going to resist fears so I’d just stick to the resistances.
Your Martial Arts die also increases to a d8, which is good because Breath of the Dragon now deals 3 Martial Arts die worth of damage! "Great balls of fire!"
LEVEL 15 - MONK 12
Hey look at that more Ability Score Improvements. Your Wisdom is a bit lacking so it would be a good idea to increase it by 2 for better AC and stronger dragon breath!
LEVEL 16 - MONK 13
Remember how you have 5 languages for no good reason? Well Tongue of the Sun and Moon makes it so everyone understands you anyways, and you can understand everything that other people are saying.

LEVEL 17 - MONK 14
14th level Monks get Diamond Soul for proficiency in all saving throws. Yup that’s it. That’s a +6 in all your saves! Oh and your Unarmored Movement increases to 25, adding up to 60 feet total thanks to Squat Nimbleness!
LEVEL 18 - MONK 15
15th level Monks make sure the 80s never die. Timeless Body makes it so you don’t suffer from the effects of being old, and can’t be aged magically. Additionally you don’t need food or water.
I mean, you still die of natural causes due to age. Because lol Monk.
LEVEL 19 - MONK 16
One last Ability Score Improvement, and now it’s up to you to make a choice: if you want the deadliest claws possible increase your Dexterity score. If you want your breath (and Stunning Strike) to be more passable however more Wisdom will do well!
LEVEL 20 - MONK 17
As a level 17 Ascendant Dragon Monk you are now an Ascendant Aspect! You can Augment Breath for 1 extra Ki point (on top of the 2 Ki to use Breath of the Dragon in general) to make it either a 60 foot cone or 90 foot line (still only 5 feet wide though.) Don’t worry though: making it bigger also makes it do 4 rolls of your Martial Arts die in damage, instead of just three!
Additionally when you activate Aspect of the Wyrm you can invoke Explosive Fury! Choose any number of creatures you can see in your aura: they each must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take 3d10 damage in any of the elemental varieties of your choice.
You also get a 10 foot Blindsight, I guess. Would probably be more useful if you couldn’t already see through Magical Darkness. But to top if off your Martial Arts die is now a d10, for top tier claws and extra spicy breath!
FINAL BUILD
PROS
I am fire! I am Nibbs! - AoE damage is one area where Monks normally suffer... good thing Ascendant Dragon exists to change that! You can burn down whole crowds with a good use of your many breath attacks.
Boop! - You don’t have many Warlock levels but teleportation is never not useful, and Mirror Image combines with your other abilities to greatly increase your overall survivability. The only thing harder than killing a Monk with Evasion is killing a Monk with Mirror Image!
Does Nibbs gets a treat now? - Pocket advantage does help quite a bit to make you good at Persuasion (or Deception.) You won’t be the main face of the party anytime soon but between Draconic Presence and Charm Person you can participate in chats a lot more than the average Monk.
CONS
Greedy Nibbs - This build is very resource-intensive, and while thankfully both your Ki points and your spell slots come back after a Short Rest you’ll run low fast if you nova frequently.
You taste like chicken! - You know perhaps the Mobile feat would’ve been more useful than Squad Nimbleness. Monks aren’t the most durable and you aren’t either, and you don’t have many ways to get out of danger which don’t involve lowering your damage output (no Bonus Action attacks) and wasting your limited resources.
Uh-oh; this no good for Nibbs - Neither your Dexterity nor your Wisdom are maxed out (or alternatively your DEX is maxed and your WIS is lacking), and while this is mostly because of my choice to invest in two feats the multiclassing doesn’t help either. Honestly if you have the chance do try to either roll for stats or use Point Buy to set both Wisdom and Dexterity high: beyond a 13 in Charisma (and I guess a midway decent Constitution score) this build doesn’t really need much else, so feel free to dump all your other stats in favor of maximum Monk potential.
But Nibbs job is to jump in and breathe fire! Leave long fights for sisters and leave jobs Nibbs can’t do for teammates. Nibbs is cute and dangerous and perfect for taking care of armies of any size! As long as Nibbs get treat afterwards Nibbs do good... No Gnaw’s tail isn’t a treat!

Favorite moment
Honestly, my favorite moments with him are some of the first, when we get to see him at the helm of a ship, in his element. He looks like he’s doing what he’s *meant* to do, and it’s just amazing to watch--the cutscenes also have good direction so that helps too lol
Also, though he never said this in my playthrough, “Without wanting to rush you, bantering about the dangers of [spoilers] is appropriate, but...” is an incredible line and i love the attitude it’s delivered with. Like... without wanting to rush you... we’re in a fuckin’ rush, bro
Idea for a story
This has definitely been ficced at least once, but!!! Vasco *does* set sail again, and takes De Sardet with him, and teaches them how to do Naut Things!! Especially good for a De Sardet who [spoiler spoiler]!
Unpopular opinion
I love Vasco dearly, but I think he was short-changed in regards to his personal quests, becasue they kinda... have fuck-all to do with the main plot? (That’s just my opinion tho!) And I’m usually not a stickler for that sort of thing, but because many of the other companion quests feel like main quests--like, I have to keep reminding myself that it’s possible to complete the game without doing these quests and then going ???????? bc it doesn’t seem possible--I feel like Vasco got robbed here!
Favorite relationship
I really love his and Kurt’s friendship--underrated gems are hidden in the companion banter, I tell you what! I also love how much his crew sticks by him and respects him, even though he’s not “officially” their captain any longer. I myself am not a hardcore Vasco-mancer, but I also think his relationship with a romanced De Sardet is adorable--I mean, damn, *the poetry*!
