i swear to god RTD looked up "top ten scariest doctor who episodes," wrote down the most horrifying element of each, and then wrote wild blue yonder. there were pieces of everything that has ever scared me in this show– the creepy repetition of the thing in midnight, "my arms are too long" being reminiscent of "are you my mummy," aliens that exactly copy humans like the zygons, the terrorization through hallways by house in the doctor's wife, the suddenly melting like the gangers in 11's era... horrifying episode overall! thank you russell!!

it occurs to me I've actually never done anything to introduce my courier despite posting about him 400 times I just kinda made everyone witness him so here's some basic stuff + his lore under the cut (long and probably very boring post incoming)

chester was born in Utah and lived there til he was almost a teenager when the Legion swept through his village and took him as a slave. his parents were much older, and were killed, and his other family (older brother) had left for California some months prior, leaving chester the sole support of his family. he does not remember his birth/original name

chester had some decent experience (for an 11 year old) of fixing machines because his father collected pre-war cars and motors and sold them and their parts for a living and so was sent downriver to Arizona to serve as a repairman and technician. while Legion property he was given the name Chiron

Chester lived in Arizona with the legion until he was 20 years old, hating every minute. a boy around his age by the name of Attilius was charged with keeping watch over him and bringing him new projects, and during the duration of their time together had developed a rapport over Roman poetry and literature, the only thing they could stand to talk to each other about.

Attilius was watching over him when Chester staged his escape and made it out. the two fought with Chester emerging victorious, believing he had killed Attilius, and escaping despite some severe injuries, including a spinal cord injury that ended up giving him brain damage, causing him to live with hallucinations, seizures, and worsening eyesight from this point on

Chester escaped via the Colorado River and came out on the other side in Nevada. he started wandering aimlessly, ignoring his injuries until he began becoming faint and passed out in a toppled semi truck and was discovered by some well intentioned folks that were traveling up the way to Vegas. they got him medical help before leaving him in Primm, at which point he took up a job as a courier with the Mojave Express at age 21, taking on a new name which he now cannot remember.

the freedom of being a courier was something Chester lived for. every day was a good day, he could go anywhere, meet lots of people, and got paid pretty good for his efforts. he was, and I cannot stress enough, perfectly and utterly happy with his simple mailman life, and misses it every sinnggglllee day during the game events. this continued on for ten happy years, in which time he learns that his older brother, Tomás, has become a trooper with the NCR. he avoids reaching out for some years after the discovery, wary of what his brother would think of him for his years in the Legion (even if it wasn't his choice.) when he does reach out, the only thing he receives in return is his brother's dog tags, learning he was killed in the battle of hoover dam 😀👍

the day after his 31st birthday is when he took the platinum chip job and ended up in a shallow grave in Goodsprings. after his brief coma and stay in the doctors house, and picking a new name again (Chester) and after resolving tensions with the Powder Gangers, he immediately cut a path to Vegas on the hunt for Benny. at first, he wanted revenge, but the anger turned to confusion, turned to helplessness. on his way through quarry junction, he was attacked by an injured deathclaw that had been abandoned by the rest of its pack, and recieved the scratches that blinded one of his eyes

after the attack, he managed to run as far as the NCR sharecroppers outside of the Strip before he collapsed and crawled his way to Freeside, where he was discovered by an unsuspecting Arcade, who took him in with haste and stitched him back together. the following day when Chester finally woke, Arcade gave him a full examination and decided it was medically unsafe for him to be alone and decided to follow him to keep an eye on him, though the two get a lot closer over the game events. Arcade also decided it'll be easiest if they make their way back to Primm and start the investigation from where it all began, rather than trying to break into an expensive, well armed luxury district and demand answers from a complete stranger. Chester agrees.

Chester has questionable memory of his past. he more or less remembers being a courier, in fact it's the period of time he remembers best (in comparison) about his life and kind of sensationalizes it and how badly he wants to return to that stage of his life, but the future marches ever onward. he doesn't remember any part of his life before the age of 15, and therefore only remembers he was part of the Legion and not the circumstances as to why. he avoids and detests them, scared that he's forgetting something awful about who he was and what he did, and keeping the information close to his chest. he remembers being Chiron, and doesn't know the limitations of his Chiron persona, and therefore has been renaming himself and reinventing himself every chance he gets (this is made worse by the fact that he remembers "killing" Attilius and fears that it proves he was as evil as the rest of them)

after the game, and because he had formed a strong relationship with Arcade, he elects to join the Followers of the Apocalypse, offering to help find and restore medical supplies across the desert. this arrangement lasts for about a year and a half until the events of Dead Money take place, and chester has a severe downward spiral upon returning home. he gives all his money from the Sierra Madre away immediately, tried to keep the severity of how bad he was doing mentally under wraps so as to not draw any concerns or questions from his friends but ended up breaking down and having a less than stellar confrontation with Arcade involving holding him at gunpoint (I must stress he was not in his right mind!)

after that they grew distant for a few months when Chester was back to patient status amongst the Followers, skirting around camp, talking mostly to some of the better suited doctors about what he was going through, before him and Arcade inevitably made up! and the rest is happily ever after. kind of

other misc things:

• lives in Novac and in Freeside

• closest relationship with Arcade, but also with Lily, Julie Farkas, and a decent partnership with Boone, though he gets along better with Manny and talks to him more often when in Novac

• he doesn't remember the dog tags he wears are his brother's, but he keeps them on because he feels like it might be important. I think he rediscovers this fact when he revisits Utah much later in life

• he hates wearing his glasses and pretty much only does so when Arcade or Julie insists he must (and insist they do)

• Attilius did not die in their fight, he was found unconscious and badly wounded and was punished by having his tongue cut out (with the claim that having those talks with Chester made him too weak to do his job.) the two met again during the second battle and he was killed in combat

• he develops a fondness and eventual passion for energy weapons after visiting the Silver Rush with Arcade and taking an interest in why he likes them so

• never returns to the Lucky 38 after the events of the story, so that casino is just rotting eternally. would ideally give the property to anyone who needs it but doesn't know who needs it to begin with

• low intelligence high science and medicine because of how invested he gets in learning from Julie and Arcade, and medicine in particular he finds passion in when speaking to Lily and examining her condition

• high perception because of paranoid hypervigilance

• clothes were given to him by The Followers after he showed up post-deathclaw attack, originally had a denim jacket but it was ruined in the conflict

it was late at night and door duty is slow like usual, the thing about the job was that 12 hour shifts suck, but in this time where the fear of being replaced by man eating monsters having a roof over my head and a job was quite reassuring, and well despite the company not really caring I'm glad that i didn't have to do more work then i could be awake for also my co-worker Emily she is amazing and could make a banging cup of tea, and well she likes the fact there's not nearly that many doubles at day, less work obviously. the night is tougher, way more doppelgängers at this time some were very convincing and did make me want to scream on the inside becuse of the anxiety it caused..... but i did like a challenge. also, i knew that most of the apartmenties were inside as Emily ticks them off the list and added the names who had a reasonable excuse for not being on there, and hey, i haven't died. yet despite my complaints there was a golden reason why i liked this job, and that was the resident tired eyes Francis, but he never really talked that much and it kinda made him ideal mimic bait, so i cant get attached i mean i really shouldn't as they really did try him the most for some reason.

i yawn as i relaxed into my office chair stretching my arms with a stratifying click 'mhhh almost over its 10 45 so 1 more hour and franci-' caught in my thoughts so much but the white uniform snapped my attention 'speak of the devil-! wait...' and as quickly as it came it left, as i seen the deep sunken abyss of "eyes" and a smile 'ah, i see its hoon' he really did try to get in, acting normally handing the papers over with an almost correct ID and entry form but just ya know slightly off on the looks and all he says is hoon is kind of revealing. i smiled and waved in greeting.

"Ah, hello there, nice try hoon, but i can see you. Good try though, almost nailed that ID too."

"hoon hoooon!"

"ill take that a good response"

i politely gave back the ID and smiled, throwing the entry form in the bin with the rest, so it isn't as easy to get in. Also, some of them are funny anyway. back to it i found this particular one almost as enduring as the original i was found of him so to speak, but if he got too good then off he goes and that might be a toxic trait but ill entertain him for now.

"Come on man, you know the drill, i caught you. You walk away. Have a good night though."

"hoon..."

he held his head down in disappointment and trudged away, when i was sure he left i called the D.D.D,the emergency shutters come down and footsteps can be heard by the men, i knew hoon wasn't there but to keep up the appearance to not get me fired, i had to make it seem that he keeps escaping, and not me letting him do so nooooo. the shutters come up, and the hazmat suit explains the situation in that boring tone like always.

"The clean up is complete, but the company will search for that double ganger that got away......"

yep, the same stuff zoning all that out. 'blah blah blah Jesus Christ, so much talking, just leave, please.' i kept smiling with zoned out thoughts as they spoke.

"You can continue your job"

"mh hm thanks"

the clean-up crew left slowly, god so slowly, like today, so slow. i looked over to the clock 'uuuuhhh 11 15 a half an hour till Francis gets here from delivering milk. poor soul to be fair he was half a workaholic' picking at my nails as a distraction from the boring day i seen another white milk man uniform i smile as i seen Francis, immediately going to work as he passed his paper through. but if i looked at the clock, only a few minutes passed.

"hi there"

i politely greeted, giving a small wave like i do for him 'wait it might not be him.' My face turned serious quickly.

"hm hello..."

'Huh, is he tired, or is that voice lower?' Suspicious, but i checked over the entry form, and that looked all good. now the ID 'logo yep date uh huh spelling' with the file i looked back and forth 'okay looking good finally number lets see 2 3 5 5 6' i look at the ID '2 4 5 5 6. wait 4?' Looking back over the file 'that's wrong damn doppelgänger. welp gotta kill this one he's too real.' i passed back the papers roughly, my face turning sour.

"welp, here ya go Francis, any last words?"

i didn't let him finish becuse as soon as i passed the paper through roughly i reached over with my other hand and pressed the emergency button, and speed dialling the D.D.D to get this near replica out of here, the shutter that came down was rattling from the force of the doppelgänger hitting it trying to escape, which was normal. and then silence as the shutter comes up, the now comforting yellow suit began to talk.

"The clean-up is complete. You can continue your-"

The hazmat suit slammed into the glass making a small crack, a gradient green hand with black claws dug into the back of the head, blood seeping out and staining the yellow suit my eyes followed the arm to the doppelganger of Francis i had just delt with 'oh shit this is a fucking problem' the yellow hazmat fell to the ground the hand returning to "normal" and that face comes into view. blood dripping of the perfect features, his voice lower than it should be its unnerving 'and hot- nope nope stop there wrong.' opening the desk draw digging in it for a neatly written number to only be called if the D.D.D fails. 'Where's that post-it note' a loud thud broke my thoughts, and I cautiously looked up to the double of Francis. his hand against the glass smearing some blood on the clean surface some spilling into the small crack made a few seconds earlier.

"Oh darling, how come you didn't let me in? My appearance is flawless. Entry form has nothing wrong with it, I know I'm on the list today."

He looked confused 'cute wait no evil' since I passed the papers through he picked up the slightly crumpled ID and gave an amused smirk flipping it around and pressing it to the glass so I could see it.

"Ah, I see you did read that silly ID number. You're not like the others, you're smart, and that makes me want to devour you even more."

My hand starts to tremble as I kept looking for that stupid note. The doppelganger tuts lightly with a small chuckle.

"Come on~ your phone friends can't help you. and you wouldn't want to create more of a mess~ look honey! all those delicious bodies already here"

He licked his lips cleaning them from the blood giving a satisfied hum 'oh shit that's hot- nope nope not the time' i couldn't bear to look past him at the amount of people dead, opting to keep looking for the number i knew was in this stupid desk 'come on, come on where is this fucking thing' my hand touches the gun at the back of the draw 'I shouldn't have to use this'

"OPEN THE DOOR, please open the door. Can we not fight anymore, please come on, open the door? You're scared i see that, I can set you free come on let me inside open the door open opEN OPEN!"

Teeth beared now sharp and tinted yellow eyes the same shade. His hand slammed down on the glass with an open palm he realised it wasn't working, quickly far too quickly, and he used his fist rattling the pane in its hold the crack getting bigger every thud my movements speed up 'shit shit shit shit shi- ah! there I got it.' I gripped the paper roughly and slammed the emergency button and dialled the never before used number

"DARLING YOULL NEVER KILL ME IVE BEEN WATCHING YOU FOR WEEKS ILL COME BACK"

"Hello you have contacted the-"

"YES I KNOW SEND HELP D.D.D AGENTS DOWN"

"Don't worry .... we have dispatched people to your area" BEEP

The slamming of fists and that sickening sound of flesh tearing. its the noise doppelgangers make when they lose their disguise, it made me nauseous my head dizzying from it I heard the glass smash but the metal kept me safe it was barely dented before I heard the screams of the beast and gun shots my breathing uneven my legs to my chest in the chair arms wrapped around my body in attempt to comfort myself it all went silent my heart drops in my chest but as the shutter came back up a more human looking hazmat suit greeted me rather than the round ones another one putting a new pane of glass replacing the broken one.

"Thank you for contacting us. we will inform the D.D.D of the deceased agents and give you good reference. Unfortunately, the doppelganger got away"

"Wait, what!?"

They left quickly, some carrying black bags, not saying a word 'he got away. How?' I slowly came out of my shell I had built temporarily, taking in some deep breaths. unwrapping my arms and lowering my legs back into my chair. 'I'll have a breakdown when I'm off the clock.... oh speaking of how long till Francis is here 11 55 he's late.... of course just making my day wors- never mind night is better' there he was passing an ID and entry form i already had his folder out and checked it over intensely giving a little sigh.

"mh, hello doorman you seem worked up tonight"

"haha yeah just some difficult doppelgängers, ya know"

"ha yeah uh.... I've been meaning to ask, would you like to get food sometime"

i opened the door for him and smiled wearily giving the correct paper back to the real Francis.

"yeah that would be nice have a goodnight Francis"

okay finally over Jesus Christ this took way longer than i wanted it to take becuse i have got another 3 fics stacked and schoolwork so I'm glad its over but i still don't know how to end this shit sorry if my writing sucks :]

My thoughts about the ending to doctor who:

So when I finished the giggle I wasn't exactly too thrilled with the ending, I mean 2 doctors?

But then I decided what the hell, there are basically 10 doctors running around anyway with 10 alternative universe and 11 double ganger, what's 1 more to the mix?

I honestly really like River because while it’s clear she loves the Doctor, she can’t give up her entire life like the companions and travel with him non-stop. Like, it’s obvious she prioritizes him, she cannot make him her first priority? Idk if that makes sense or if it’s even accurate, it’s been so many years since I watched Doctor Who.

I also liked River’s relationship with Eleven. One of my chief complaints about Steven Moffat is that he separates the Doctor from humanity, and River gives him a connection that I feel is more genuine than with the Ponds because the Ponds are just there.

I liked her before she was tied to the Ponds, especially Amy. I couldn’t stand Amy because she was a hot mannequin and although her and Rory’s relationship was played for humor with the girlboss/sad wet man thing they have going on, it became grating after a while because I was like, why do you stay together? You’re so annoying.

Sorry for the rant lol, this is bringing back some old feelings I hadn’t realized I still had.

So, this is interesting to read because I skimmed through some reddit threads about seasons 5-7 of Doctor Who and about 11 as a doctor and saw people say that 11 was the most "alien" doctor and that some people thought he was too dark and because Moffat made him so alien, they didn't like his interactions with River because they seemed out of place when he suddenly got really horny and flirty, and it just reminded me that I have never seen a take on reddit that I've agreed with lmao.

Granted, I haven't seen any other Doctors yet but it's funny that the reason why I didn't start with 10 when I realized Tennent was 10 was that I got the feeling that the portrayal would be overly sentimental and emotional and I just didn't care to watch that, but 11 doesn't seem overtly "alien" or nonhuman to me, if anything he seems to be the most human character in the seasons so far because Amy and Rory don't feel like people, as you said they're kind of just there. Like I'm at the Let's Kill Hitler episode after they found out that Amy was a ganger and their baby was a ganger and River is their daughter and they barely register it, they barely have any feelings about it, but 11 raises an army, gets angry, has to be told not to let his emotions get in the way because he can make a mistake, underneath all of the cockiness and brashness, he's actually quite upset and I was like, he's having the most human response to this whole ordeal over everyone.

In terms of River, it is funny considering that narratively speaking, her character does revolve around the Doctor in the sense that she was raised to one day kill him but she falls in love with him, she says that she lives for the days that she sees him, but she's also very clearly her own person and is like nah, can't do this, I have to go back to prison, at least with 11, rather than him coming at her beck and call, he comes at hers, she knows he'll appear whenever she jumps out of a window during whatever side mission she's doing and while she's clearly upset about how much he doesn't know/remember about their relationship whenever they meet and she clearly has affection/attraction for him, he's the one who comes across as entirely smitten by her. It's an interesting dynamic.

An extensive mapping of all of the doctor's incarnations

This is my second revision (third edition overall). In this edition I have added quite a few incarnations and origins as well as clean up the mapping quite a bit.

The added incarnations include: the Red Guardian, Dronid Doctor, Dr. Who (Cushing Movies), Intrepid, 11's Ganger, the Dream Lord, Master!Doctor, Ulysses (for the Infinity Doctor), and the Father of Time.

The added origins include:

For the Other: Intrepid, the Stranger from the Future, contemporary of Rassilon (replaces "naturally born pre-pythian curse), Ancient being (including the subsets of Mimir and Nyarlothotep), and some relation to Tectuen (because their role in mythology is similar)

For the Doctor Proper: 49th century colony

Note that I also included both "invalid" doctors (such as Peter Cushing and Lenny Henry), as well as characters originally intended to be the doctor/other but never confirmed (Red Guardian, Intrepid )

I desperately wanted to add Ryan Fogarty's idea that Marnal was actually the Other and the Doctor absorbed the Other's biodata due to regenerating in his (Marnal's) TARDIS so many times, and being in it, but couldn't find any kind of actual evidence (unlike my Mimir Canon-Weld which I feel has somewhat adequate evidence).

The 11 era had some episodes that were literally just horror movies, 10 and 12 had some creepy stuff too but it really peaked with 11. The silence, the weeping angels, the gangers, the whisper men, etc. It’s really never been that terrifying before or since

The fandom is sleeping on him!!! Do you all hate him because 11 loves himself-ish unline 10 :( I love watching 11 and 11 interact and just completely totally vibe with each other, that they are Immediately always on the same page. Also that through there being two of them, and them lying about which one is the ganger, aspects of the doctors personality could be expressed more freely without as much of the rose tinted glasses.

Imagine if all the Doctor Who clones survived and got to have madcap adventures with each other. Flesh Amy and Flesh 11 getting together with Metacrisis 10 and Sontaran Clone Martha, and the four of them just running around time and space (maybe with a vortex manipulator?) being daft and codependent together.

Depending how much we bend the rules, we could even throw in Living Plastic Micky from the pilot. He's clearly not as sophisticated as Living Plastic Rory—bit if a rushed job, that Micky Clone—but I'm sure the 10 and 11 Clones could figure out something clever to fix that.

(Which I suppose begs the question of whether or not Living Plastic Rory counts as a clone and should therefore be included in this hypothetical, but I don't think he counts as a proper clone, since there were never 2 Rory's at the same time. Organic Rory was erased and replaced by Plastic Rory, who was again deleted with the rebooting of the universe, and Organic Rory was reuploaded to reality. So no, Rory does not get to join.)

Am I forgetting any other important clones? Anyway, I just thought this was a fun idea.
